Stitches was cured very fast, even from beyond death. Twice so, even, just during the last few days before escape. I think it could've been plausible to cut Nook away from those vines of his, and if it turned out to be lethal or otherwise hurt him, we could've put him to the lockers to heal. No more madness, either. And whether we could save him or not, he might've been a very valuable ally. Or at the very least, having him on our side would've meant that there was nothing to be afraid of him anymore, giving us more time and freedom to investigate around the facility. And yes, saving Stitches would've had less emotional impact, but if he hadn't showed up and Tom had died buying time for Ruby, I'm sure it'd've been rather emotional too. The point being, emotional =/= good. On an unrelated matter, I also think that with enough information, and by putting a bit more weight upon finding the truth, and less upon simply getting out, we might've been capable of destroying the BBEG, which would've been pretty much the best possible ending (unless either Ruby or Tom died while doing it). We could've thrown something at the Teeth Door, like Filbert's corpse: If it had reacted favourably, as in not eat him, we could've investigated further. Surely Red's room might've contained some crucial information about the beast? Oh and, what about the amnesia? Did the creature eat their memories or something? Or were they just pushed away into the depths of the patients' minds, by the treatment? Could they ever be recovered? I think we should've asked Weaver about this.
