Dear Mr. Chick, First, I want to say thank you. Ever since I became a christian, I've been a fan of your work for God. I've read your literature since I found Christ in collage, and have recently found your on-line articles just as helpful in living a christian life.
-I'm just going to skip the boring part about finding faith.-
We dated for five years before we got married. Now, I am so blessed. We have two children (8 and 14), who fill our lives with joy. But it can be difficult to raise two christians in the world we live in today.
Our oldest son, William, was playing a game called "Dark Heresy" with his friends. I think it may be the new Dungeons and Dragons. He brought home the rules book, and I took one look at it, and decided that he was npt going to play this game. The cover itself is disturbing, but the contents are just as, if not more, twisted. Not only are there perverted, gruesome, disturbing images, there is also chillingly detailed violence.
In the game, it is possible for players to decapitate, de-limb, set on fire, and do other unspeakable acts to other player's characters. It is also possible to gain psychic powers, summon demons (called "daemons" in the game), or even became a "daemon-host". My son assured me that it was all just fun and games, but I was horrified. Needless to say, we had a long talk, and he agrees that it wouldn't be christian to play, and that God doesn't these kinds of games. |
