06/22/09(Mon)20:18 No.4966137Ng Ma was born in the city of Quang Ngai, Vietnam, to mother Bich Thuy, and father Linh. He had one sister, whose name was Tron.
At 2 years old a flood struck their home and destroyed it. The next year his father died of a seizure at 29 years old.
Struggling through school, and suffering from malnutrition as a result of his poor upbringing and his mother's inability to pay for her children, he developed goiter at the age of 11.
A bitter and disaffected youth, he took up smoking at the age of 14, to be followed shortly by taking up alcohol and drug abuse. At 15 he met a girl, Hong Vu-Pham, and at 18, just after leaving trade school, he married her, shortly before being drafted into the Vietnamese military.
A corrupt and stingy sort, during the course of his service in the Vietnamese military, he stole millions of dong in goods, as well as large sums of money in high-risk investments.
Finally, at 31, he used the proceeds from his various dealings to immigrate illegally into the US, where for the first year he indulged in a further life of crime, stealing thousands of dollars in cars and goods, before finally being nabbed on an attempted con job and placed on two year probation.
Forced by the court to find proper employment or risk deportation, he turned to that ultimate in easy labor: IT.
Working as a computer technician, he lived a miserly life, investing much of his income in stocks and bonds. At 43, while his mother died penniless in Vietnam, Ng had accrued investments of over 800,000 USD.
But years of smoking and drinking finally took their toll, and at 48, he died of his second heart attack. He left behind two children, Ai Ma, 8, and Cao Ma, 7, as well as his wife of 30 years. |
