Looks like Delta didn’t make it. We found them in the main ops room and a couple of them in the generator room, they just look… Dead. That’s the damnedest thing, there is no evidence as to how they died, they are just dead. Lars says it looks like natural causes, I think it looks like groxshit, seven guys don’t die of natural causes oh so suddenly all so soon. Sarge thinks it might be poisoning, so we are not allowed to take any of their rations or drink the water.
Great… So much for supplies.
The Comm. Station is on the fritz, some kind of interference is garbling the signal, or at least that’s what Eli said. I’m on guard duty for the moment and have to watch the main entrance while Blake and Jones patrol the corridors. Sarge is with Lars and Eli trying to figure out ways to re-establish the Comm. link and get into contact with anyone who can deliver us aid.
It still creeps me out though, I remember the first time I saw Delta’s vox. The Delta voxman sitting in his chair, skin white and cold to the touch, the mouthpiece still active, and even when we had taken a break outside the Comm. Station earlier, we could still hear the distress call being received on our vox. There was no evidence that it was a recording, Eli would have found it if there was one, which meant he was alive until just moments ago, and then suddenly went pale and cold to the touch. Dead. Just Dead.
I shouldn’t be thinking about such things. It’s not part of my duty. I should just kill that which threatens the Imperium. That’s it, end of story.
But something here doesn’t sit right. Nothing does. It sure as hell didn’t feel right when we wandered through the city to get here, but it feels worse here.
I wonder if Sarge and the others get the same feeling as I do? |
