It's already begun to seep across, beneath the ocean, across the sea floor and carefully, silently edging into research facility.
Anyway, two people is enough to make the heat ray fuction while your other comrade runs with the rest. You attempt to hold them off, easily taking down seven, eight drones - before eventually, a ball of plasma is spat directly at the energy core of the heat ray. It explodes in a ball of flame and Darius and Supernova are both engulfed in the sudden, powerful burst, the front of their armour completely ruined, the front of their bodies covered in burns and shrapnel.
You're ignored as the drones chase after the rest, scuttling and dancing along - but they're already gone. As drones tried to come out panels, they were immediately shut. It wasn't too long until most of you arrived on the other side of the hallway, losing only two drones and your two heat ray handlers - as well as the heat ray.
You see a sphere, hanging there in space in this pristine white room. The sphere is pitch black and completely smooth - it absorbs all light that touches it. Any attempt to touch it - nothing goes through it. No light, no heat, nothing physical, nothing.
There are two rooms connected to this room, one to the left and one to the right. Cables run from them, leading to the centre of the room you are in, directly below the sphere.
