So, I'm checking out Goblin Markets for Changeling: The Lost...
It lists the value of the memory of a day at a favorite museum as two dots. So you could theoretically trade in a good day out for an untrained human slave or a two-dot token. I fully plan to abuse this. I know my ST has bought Goblin Markets, so I'm just going to have my character go to seaworld every day, saving up for the day I finally stumble across the market.
ITT: Ways to abuse goblin market.

A spider scared to death is worth 2 dots. Assuming spiders only have 1 health, you can easilly scare one to death by using the Mein of Baba Yaga and rolling at least 3 successes. Of course, this costs you 3 glamour and a willpower point, so you can't exactly go about it all day long, but you could probably get at least one a day and maybe more if you're days are eventful enough.
    >> Anonymous 09/19/09(Sat)12:46 No.5924460
you'd need to have GOOD days at a museum.

if your storyteller's sharp, your days will get progressively worse.
plus, that would be boring. logically, your memories of it would get lower and lower in quality.

the most you could do would be having a few good trips, trading in the memories, then having a good clue left behind (a picture of yourself having a great time at seaworld) to motivate you to make more good memories there.

You're also forgetting the fact that Hobs *NEVER* make a fair deal unless you're Hob Kin. They will rip your ass off blind.

I don't think Hob Kin really applies to hobs in the Goblin Markets. It's my understanding that even other Hobgoblins get ripped off in there.

I can see it now. A bunch of seaworld employees greeting the guy by name, assking him how everything's going. He's done this so many times now that he's a prefered customer and gets special treatment. All the while the employees pity him for the strange mental condition that seems to prevent him from forming new memories. He never remembers any of their names and he always asks the same questions does the same things every time. But in a way, they envy him. He always manages to enjoy himself. He always manages to capture the excitement of the place as though it was his first time.

I can see it now, one of the antendees falls in love with him and agonizes over how they can never be together. How he can never even remember that time she confessed her love for him behind the seal tank. Each day she must make him love her anew, and each night he forgets.
And somewhere sits a hob, idly sipping the memory back, letting it swirl in his brain like a heady wine as he revels in the confessions of love, of the longing glances and heartfelt moments, of the delights and sorrows of unrequited young love.
And somewhere out there is a different changeling, who just wanted to experience a day at seaworld... who finds himself now in love...

I would assume so, if one were available to buy.

somebody'd have to be MAJORLY desperate enough to trade an education like that despite the ripping-off they'll get.

I'd be more interested in the side-memories of college, like the love interests, friends, etc...

you buy this massive education and suddenly, the next day, you see your sweetheart from college walking down the street. you try to say hello, but she doesn't recognize you, etc...

    could be fun

Just think, though, with a single decision, to not sell his day once again, to choose love over trinkets and baubles, our prospective wheeler and dealer can have the girl.

Of course, by this time, the second changeling has her love mired deep within himself, each memory purchased adding fuel to the fire, each one a new telling of the same tale, over and over so many times that when they finally cease, he can't tell what part of it was a second-hand memory, and what was real. And so, he goes off in search of his lost love, recalling every nuance of their time together, not realizing that it wasn't with him...

Goblin Pledge is a Merit in... I think Rites of Spring.
It lets you make Pledges with forces of nature. The example in the book is making a Pledge with the Night Sky. The Skitterskulk becomes practically invisible when hiding in the night, but has to go around shooting out street lights with a B-B gun.
    >> Anonymous 09/19/09(Sat)15:06 No.5925989
I can see someone buying a lifetime's worth of blindness. Put it in a box, give it to a rival... sign it as from a secret admirer...

And then the blind guy could probably sell "A blindman's sight" or "the memory of the first sight of a man born blind"

You forget, this is Changeling. You could always trick that blindness onto someone else, or you could always use it on yourself, because you're sick of dealing with the world.
I wouldn't doubt if people would buy and sell blindness and sickness.

    It'd be like a drug.
"Hey, buddy, you want some Sickness? Finest in the shop. This guy was practically at death's door. Lightheadedness, euphoria, the woiks."

"Tired of seeing this ugly, fucked up world? Buy some blindness, kid. Best purchase you'll ever make."

that's an interesting plot hook. A memory picked up at the goblin mart could have someone falling in love with another man's wife, or something similar.

a child starts calling a stranger 'daddy' or a memory could make an otherwise nice changeling hell-bent on revenge for a wrong that didn't actually happen to him.

But then he looks on the mantle... and sees the smiling faces of all the men and women and children he's freed... and he looks down and reads the thank you note left by little jenny... and... and it just isn't fair...
"I'm sorry Marry. I think... I think I may love you too... though I've only known you for a day... but love is selfish... and this is something only I can do. Wait for me Marry... Maybe next time I'll remember you."

You could buy bad habbits to unleash on someone else. Such as... I dunno... gifting a rival with the bad habit of forgetting to lock the door when he leaves the house. That sort of thing.
I dunno about addiction, though that has a lot of potential. If the person genuinly enjoys what they are addicted to, I'd say 3 dots.

It's still in your body. You no longer want it. Your body still feels fucking awful without it. You go through withdrawal symptoms.
I'm not saying it's going to be worse than having it, necessarily, but it's certainly not going to be pleasant, and it may well interfere with gameplay more, at least until the withdrawal period ends. Be liberal with dice penalties, certainly.
And, of course, the changeling may still use again to get rid of the withdrawal. Then it's a whole 'nother cup of worms.

You still haven't found what you were looking for?
Let me see what else I have to offer.
How about this adorable rabbit, her name's Alice. I must warn you to never feed her anything but fresh water and vegetables
Is she not to your liking?
I have this rare breed of sheep called Totetsu. They are somewhat picky about what they eat though.
Or are you looking for something cuter. I have these small creatures they are low maintenance. All you have to do is make sure you don't let them see light, don't let them touch water and never feed them after midnight.

Could'nt you theoretically just buy up one high value item (A dragon for instance) and then just harvest it's components? I mean, dragon scales and dragon venom and dragon eggs and dragon dung and all that stuff is probably worth something, right?

If the cost it'self isn't a burden, then either the purchased item is, or the person who bought creates one.

You sell off your addiction, and a rival buys it to use on a friend. Or the person who bought it only bought the addiction, without any of the drawbacks, so until you find them and get them to quit, you feel the withdrawl constantly.

Or maybe someone working for a food company buys the addiction, and makes it an ingredient for their new line of food - and because it's your addiction, you are the only one who can break the habit of hundreds of thousands of people.

Generally, selling something bad for you should probably result in you having to do the equivalent work of cleaning up the mess, and suffering the misfortune and then some.

So you'll wind up getting "gifts" from people that you don't know anything about, and being in the goblin market, it's not wise to accept things proffered to you lest they have a hidden price attached... and as long as you keep rejecting them, they'll keep coming... and coming... and coming...

Alright /tg/ lets think up shit that isn't terribly unobtainable if you think about it, but seems pretty odd at first glance. If anyone wants to try and guess a price at these, be m guess.

    -Hair of a bald man.
-All the black keys of a piano.
-The last leaf to ever fall from an oak tree.
-The boots of a dead man.

Ok, I've decided that I'm gonna use the local Gob market to gather up ingredients for making hedgespun items.
My question is this: What are the values of such hedge-centric, useless-on-their-own items like a whisp of eternal smoke or a spider's web made entirly of dewdrops? Together I can assemble them into something powerful, so I don't think they'd be value 0, but at the same time it doesnt seem right to have them be value 1 or above.
