Ever played a successful evil campaign?

Yeah, we played a Kobold campaign.
We were sort of cute-evil, but did partake of eating sentients and killing people with severed heads.

Also, played a campaign where we were neutral, trying to kill evil via genocide of the evil races. So that's pretty darn close.

    Party cohesion made it workable.

I did, although the stupid CE elements of the party were quickly enslaved by the rest of the party.

Yeah, a group of undeadly types (plus one very, very confused neutral good druid dominated by a vampire) trying to survive against living adventurers trying to rape the fuck out of our dungeon. No double crossing involved.
    >> Anonymous 09/23/09(Wed)23:15 No.5983511
Technically most WoD campaigns are evil campaigns.
    >> 4E is WoW 09/23/09(Wed)23:17 No.5983538
One time our group demanded tribute from a small but fortified town, with walls and all that jazz.

They refused of course. So we hatched our plan.

The wizard and assassin snuck into the town at night, the assassin killing off or tricking the guards to leave their post. And the wizard snuck into the heart of the town, with invisibility of course, and waited.

Once the coast was clear our barbarian cleric and fighter used trees we chopped down earlier to make a barricade at each of the town gates.

Once that was done the wizard began to shoot off fire spells left and right turning the quaint little village into a raging inferno before he and the assassin flew out with a fly spell.

Oh my god so much win.
    >> Anonymous 09/23/09(Wed)23:18 No.5983548
Well, we were doing a campaign that started off neutral. Group quickly descended into planning means of seizing a Castle for ourselves, and we were caught attempting to perform regicide... That didn't end so well. So we're going to be starting a new one next week. I'm going to be playing a sociopathic Wizard/Acolyte of the Skin.

Best part of an evil campaign? Having zombie minions. Lots of em. We got to use mass combat rules a lot.

Wait, what do you consider succussful?

My group has played from starting level 12 to the point where I won't let them level just because I don't want to deal with epic shit and they've always nearly managed to destroy the world only for one player or another to betray the others in a bid for sole domination.

    I consider that successful.

If we are going by Disc World rules, then technically all campaigns are evil. Wanton genocide, murder, thievery. It doesn't matter if the races were "evil", the fact that you trespassed onto their land, killed them, took their possessions makes you evil.

But truthfully no. We only go evil when one guy DMs, and then he kills us for going evil. We still have fun.

I ran a pretty epic Empire campaign for SWRPG, back when it was still owned by West End Games. It was a couple of months after the Battle of Endor, and the players were the senior officers of a Star Destroyer under the command of a regional governess who had aims of carving out her own little empire.

Shit got epic when they got wind of a Super Star Destroyer that had be scuttled and left in orbit in a nearby system. They arrived to find it in orbit of a planet whose major city had all but elected a Jedi as their leader after he single-handedly drove out the Imperials. Said Jedi proceeded to wreck the PC's collective shit as they tried to get the SSD back online, and were on the verge of losing. Until one of the players came up with the brilliant idea to drop the SSD on the city (after the others beat a hasty retreat).

Yes, destroying a city of 40 million just to kill one man. It was so deliciously evil and the perfect end to the campaign.

Gm'ed an evil campaign with a party consisting off:

neutral evil druid, prestige classed into vermin lord, allowed him to take swarm form in place of a level.

dwarf paladin turned black guard, who among other thing sacrificed his old griffon mount to an elemental god of earth.

human wizard corrupted by power and obsessed with the idea of becomming a dragon, seeing it as a preferable alternative to turning lich.

funny thing? the amounth of good they do as vil chafacter, the players being smart evil.
Helped an exiled heir reclaim his throne, and gained a small barony in return, which they have been running surprisingly well.
Rounded up all the bums and giving them a purpose as soldiers and guards, forging an army loyal to them.
Destroying drows living under them, in exchange for trade with duergar that supplies thier army. (arrogant drow and black guard dwarf does not make for a very diplomatic first meeting)
Defeating an evil that had corrupted a forest in thier domain, cause no way are some demon bounded in a treant and sealed away is going to stop them from aquiring the lumbers needed to create siege weapons.

Currently: Planning to set up the neighbouring tyrant to justify an invasion and then claim his intere realm for themself, officially in the name of the king backing them.

oh, the party started out good, and the only one from the party that stayed good turned npc, got captured when he tried to assasinate his former party members and have been brainwashed to be one of thier commanders. atleast they think so, they are still paranoid of where ever or not he have just out bluffed them.

Oh, sorry I didn't clarify. It's one of the Prestige Classes in Complete Arcane, 3.5 D&D. It caught my eye because I normally play good natured characters so I wanted to do something different, and a Wizard so obsessed with obtaining power that he would ritualistically bind a Demon/Devil's flesh to his own in a horrific symbiosis sounded kickass.

I'm running a campaign where two of my players are playing assassinesque prestige classes, they periodically separate from the rest of the party to perform assassinations. There have been quite a few high profile deaths as the result of those two, often with the assassinations occurring doors away from the rest of the party.
The rest of the party is under the impression that they are simply infiltrating the organization responsible for the assassinations in order to take it down. Occasionally the organization sends some resources their way to stage an 'assassination' for the whole group to foil to keep up appearances.
I'm considering turning those two into the BBEGs once they climb to the top of the organization.

The odd thing is that both characters started off chaotic good, through their experiences they slowly lost their faith in humanity and then their reverence for life. When they found out about the organization they joined to exploit its resources for the party's mission, even though it meant taking innocent lives. Now they've grown to love it.
    I love sandbox games.

My players tried a neutral campaign. It quickly degenerated into an evil campaign. Selling powerful hallucinogens as antitoxin, slaughtering villages, being dicks to everyone, that kind of stuff.

More or less at the end of my rope due to inexperience, I kept it going for a couple of sessions, then sent a bounty hunter after them. A level six human fighter against three level threes. I figured they'd make short work of him and continue bullshitting around. Imagine my confusion when things went weird and they slowly became terrified of the man known as Davnos Slater.

The bounty hunter shows up on a horse, with a randomly selected coat of arms on his shield. Someone asks to try to identify it with Knowledge(Nobility and Royalty). I set the DC at 10. He failed. "You're not sure who he is or why he's carrying the coat of arms for the court jester." Laughs all around. They stop to see what he wants, because I mentioned him, so he must be important.

"I'm looking for a group of three murderers. Seen them around?" A moment of planning goes on. They decide that they'll bluff him into thinking that the murderers were seen running ahead, then kill him the moment his back is turned. Bluff check, contested by Sense Motive. Failure. "Interesting... of course, so is this." And then he pulls out three wanted posters with their faces on them and roughly a thousand gold pieces for the lot of them.

A moment of silence passes. Then the rogue rolls initiative.

COMBAT! The group manages to land initiative, and does some damage to the fighter. He climbs off his horse and starts his round off with a critical hit to the rogue. The wizard of the group tries, in vain, to get the fighter to succumb to a Sleep spell. One more round passes before they start panicking and begin trying to escape.

The fighter of their group thinks for a moment, then says "Wait! Stop!" The bounty hunter pauses, thinking that they're going to surrender. Not so much. "You've been poisoned. The rogue's daggers have stuck you four times so far. You've got enough in you that you won't make it if you don't stop fighting us and start treating yourself."

Laughing, I allow a Bluff check, which he proceeds to get a natural twenty on. I don't even bother to make a Sense Motive check. Instead, I put on a serious face. "... Get out of here. If I find out you're back to your senseless mayhem, I'll slaughter you all." And then send the fighter off to get an antitoxin from his horse's pack.

Five sessions later, the PCs have moseyed on to the nearest large city and have joyously continued to slaughter people all over the place. The rogue fails a Gather Information check. I tell him that he doesn't find out anything about the fabulously wealthy in this city... but he did find out about a certain hero of the city with a coat of arms on his shield. A man that was carrying a horse's saddle on his back, after killing the horse that was given to him from the king's own stables. A man that apparently got into a fight with three guys who tricked him into drinking a powerful hallucinogen that was disguised as an antitoxin, because the three guys lied about poisoning him. A man named Davnos Slater, who was looking to murder those three guys.

I actually had a pretty interesting bad guy that came from a fail evil campaign. I have a home brew setting as I'm sure a good amount of people do, so what happens in one campaign will typically do something in others. Granted this is more of a reference to the old campaign instead of one directly being influenced from another.

Anyways, so about level 3 the fighter of the group gets an intelligent sword that commands him to kill some one, he fails the check and becomes a slave to it. The sword wants him to kill some one whom was innocent and generally did not provoke the fighter in any way. What he found was a old grave digger in a rural village that the PCs were staying in. He basically cut the guy down and then the sword relinquished control over him, the sword is sadistic like that.

So the fighter buries the sword with the grave digger. Later on the PCs turn evil (instead of being neutral before hand) and the campaign fell apart with just so much "Lol I r evil and I r gonna kill peoplez cuase it r funny rofl!" So in a later campaign the PCs made good characters and heard of a specter haunting the old grave yard that the grave digger died in. Now they didn't piece together that the two villages were one in the same, so it came to be shocking when they found that the grave digger had actually survived the assault and, with the blade in hand, has been preserving his own life by killing others. Fight went off, was pretty cool, but eventually the digger ran off. He made a couple more cameos after that, mostly rumors going around commoners talking about grave robbing and murders. At one point a few villages starting referring to him as a ghost story, which I thought was pretty cool.

Goddammit. I don't have the notes. I can give you a basic rundown, but that's about it.

After hearing about this, the rogue immediately grabbed his two partners in crime and dragged them into the thieves' guild for safety.

Along the way, the rogue critically failed to use Diplomacy on the thieves' guild master. He said that the only way he could redeem himself was if he went to the capital city, found the guild master's son, and brought him back. Further, there was a stipulation that they weren't allowed to kill any of the people that lived there, because it was the thieves' guildmaster's childhood home.

Pissed at the rogue for getting them into this, but glad to get out of the city, the rest of the group accompanied him. They avoid the roads and manage to get there in one piece after a month. The search is on! Hunting for anyone with the same last name, anyone that looked like him, anyone that might even know about this son. They start getting some promising leads on their first day. By the third, they're almost going insane from the number of people they've wanted to kill for one reason or another. By the fifth, they've found out that the son is working as a servant for the king.

Right about then, they find out that Davnos is in the capital city, after having searched the previous place for two weeks and giving up on finding the three. He was just there to apologize to the king and to ask for a replacement horse.

Rather than wait until Davnos is done with his business, they decide that they need to get in there, get the son, and get out of the capital. So they bullshit their way past the guards, grab the son, and start to leave, only to find that the bounty hunter passed a Spot check with flying colors.

I've never heard a more orchestrated "Shiiiiiiiiit" in my life.

Currently in an evil campaign. Here's how it works:

Every player has 2 characters, a Mastermind and a Henchman. The Masterminds are consistently 3-4 levels higher than the Minions. Masterminds were allowed races/templates with up to +2 LA, minions were allowed +1. This LA was completely ignored.

The Minions typically go out on missions, capturing creatures to fill our dungeon with, attacking trade caravans, recovering evil artifacts, and so forth.

The Masterminds design a dungeon (as per the rules in the Stronghold Builder's Guidebook), fill it with traps and monsters, and await the "PCs" that come to try and take us down. They get XP whenever the good guys encounter a trap or fight a monster, regardless of the outcome (so we get experience if they trigger a trap or disarm it - the latter being a "OK, we need to hide that one better" scenario). This, of course, culminates with a battle at the end of the dungeon.

I'm having a lot of fun with it so far. Mastermind is a Spellwarped Wilder, and my Henchman is a Mineral Warrior Soulknife (I took 1 level of Spellwarped's +3 LA, DM said it was fine). The last battle my mastermind was in, he charmed and subsequently Diplomacy'd a good psion and a neutral psionic warrior into joining us.

So the fighter tries his best to hold Davnos off while the rogue and the wizard grab the son so they could run like their asses were on fire and their hair was catching.

The fighter's player was not normally a guy that was very heavy on the roleplaying, but for this, he layered it on like sweet, sweet icing on the cake. He started taunting and sneering and jeering at Davnos for all he was worth, trying to attack this bounty hunter's pride so that he wouldn't go after his two compatriots. "Where'd you learn to fight like that? I'd get my money back, if I were you!" "Why bother with the shield? So when I kill you, I know whose wife I have to pity-fuck?" "Fuck you!" "Fuck your mother!" "Fuck the queen!" "Fuck, that hurt!"

In the end, it was still a level five fighter against a level eight. He was brought down to a knee and told to surrender at swordpoint. The fighter considered his options... "I want to contact a dark god."

    "Wat."

"I want to contact the god of slaughter, because I think this guy is good-aligned, and I think with all the blood we've shed, I've probably gotten his attention before."

    "Uh. Roll a Diplomacy check."

Fucking natural twenties. I swear that this guy had the luckiest rolls in the world when it came to critically important things. Time froze. A horrible butcher of sentient beings strode onto the scene and looked upon the fighter.

    "You look like Hell."
    "Yes, sir."
"Good to see you acknowledge that. What do you want?"
    "I want a favor."
"... You want a favor from me? Why should I? You're about to die anyway."
"I'll make it worth your time."
"... Cheeky bastard. I like it. Done."

And time unfreezes. The deity vanishes. The bounty hunter is still standing over him.

"... Surrender? No. I want you, Davnos Slater, to kill twenty wizards in this city before you come after us again."

A moment of silence passes while I consider the implications of what just occurred. The other two players start snickering. The fighter's player is grinning. Finally, I nod and smile.

    "Request granted."

A titanic battle of wills occurs. The bounty hunter drops his sword and tears off his helmet to clutch at his head. Veins start popping up along his temples, his face reddens, and his eyes bug from his head. It's an impressive effort, but in the end, Davnos is only a man. The equivalent of Geas/Quest on steroids is thrust upon the bounty hunter and he charges forth to do as bidden.

A roar of laughter goes on from the other two players. They clap the fighter's player on the back, and he joins in on the laughter. He takes advantage of the sudden chaos to get his ass out of the palace before the guards that were witness to it all get their shit together and skewer him.

Another day survived, another life ruined. There is more, but I can't remember it all at this late hour. Please, Wasteland Warrior. Relieve me.

Well, technically (assuming this is D&D) natural 20s and natural 1s don't provide critical success or failure outside of serving as low or high base for the modifier, unlike rolling for saves or attacks. Of course, almost every game of D&D tends to be run by house rules, so this is moot.

What works for one group doesn't always work for others. I tend to run fairly gritty games where players are rewarded for using cunning to surpass the odds, not ballsyness (ignoring retarded luck, straight-up combat against a superior force will end up in a character death). Of course, this story seem to be much more narrative-focused, and the players are enjoying themselves, so I don't see the problem here.

    Very well...

I was in a large party, 9 people, and a girl I knew was in it. Anyone who has ever met me can attest that in person I am CE to the core. I'm a nice enough guy, but I'm a terrible person. She was somehow convinced that there was good in me. She decided that she was going to make a character who was going to redeem my character. I, on the other hand, decided to drag her down to my level. WE agreed that we wouldn't metagame, and we would both abide by whatever the dm decided. She armed herself with the book of exalted deeds, and I armed myself with the book of vile darkness, a bottle of wild turkey and the first couple seasons of jackass, then I got to plotting.

The group all started in a busy marketplace. We were all witness to a a cosmic event, and all saw a glimpse of our possible futures. A war between the elemental forces of law and chaos was fought in an instant, and the resulting clash showed all those present who their destinies were tied to. The party was shown that if they were to band together, great or terrible things could happen. Other then the party cleric, I was the only evil character, a paladin of slaughter. The girl was playing a paladin. The dm told us that the paladin could travel with evil party members, and we would only fall if we commited an good/evil act with good/evil intentions, unless it was something with suitably deep running implications. (I.E. the paladin wouldn't fall for killing an innocent to stop a war if it were the only chance, but not if she just did it because it was the easiest way out.) The majority of the party was good, so I played along, but I always made sure that it was either for a selfish reason, or that I managed to somehow cancel it out (like killing children when I can get away with it.)

After feigning interest in the redemption process to throw the paladin off, I began to plot her downfall. I saved up all my gold and commissioned a magic rapier (her weapon of choice) to be made. It was made of brightened white steel and furnished with gold. The hand guard had an inscription of two angels holding hands. Imprisoned within the beautiful weapon was the spirit of a Belor, which was so enraged at it's imprisonment that the second it tasted blood. It was also covered with so much non detection magic that it was nigh impossible to realize just how bad an idea to actually wield it. I could have bought a castle or two for what I put into that sword. The cleric, who had masterfully hid his evil the entire time, and was "aiding" the paladin in converting me to good. I also bought an illusion amulet, that would let me appear as whatever I'd like and a non detection amulet, so I could walk around in demon armor without the paladin knowing it. I hid my alignment and changed my appearance to make the paladin think she had gotten me from CE to CN.

I gave the paladin the weapon as a gift, in thanks for helping me out. Then I went to a nearbye town with the cleric and changed my appearance to that of the paladin, then started killing random passers bye. The cleric then ran back to the paladin and told her that a fiend was attacking the town. She predictably ran off without informing the rest of the party and encountered a screaming villager. I had killed the villager's wife and child slowly infront of him, then ran away. He took a swing at her and she responded by attacking non lethally with the brand new rapier, but managed to miss. We house ruled that if you miss while trying to make a non lethal attack with a lethal weapon you had to roll again to see if you did lethal damage. Nat fucking 20 would have been awesome on the attack, but she rolled an 17... but what's this? She had improved crit rapier? She confirmed (peasant was AC 10, a 1 still hit) and the commoner was rent asunder. Will save.... 1. She goes berserk and depopulates the town. Her god hadn't abandoned her, as it was involuntary. She was still mortified at what she had done, but the cleric offered to cast atonement on her. He cast Geas instead. He could have geased her into becoming evil, but instead he geased her into serving me, as it would be more fun that way. To prevent her from just refusing and killing herself the cleric made a deal, (claimed he was a cleric of some true nuetral god) in order to preserve the balance, she would be released from the geas after 90 days, then the geas would be cast on me.

Now, at any moment she could have called bullshit, because geas doesn't work that day, or asked to roll sense motive. She did not. In fact, The cleric didn't even geas her to serve me, he geased her to serve him, so that he would have something to use against me in case I rose against him. I told her that it would please me to kill the remaining townsfolk. She bowed and told me that my wish was her command and set to work. I never ordered her to do anything, she made the assumption that she was compelled to do so. She killed them all, but didn't lose her paladin powers, as she was deceived into committing the act. She threatened suicide, but then I told her that I had made a deal with the demon in the sword that should she die he would give me her soul, to do with whatever I wished. Again, no rolling sense motive or calling me out, just accepting what she had been told. After the first village or two one of the party members caught wind of what she was doing, but instead of telling everyone he confronted the two of us alone. I implied that the only way the paladin had to get out of it was to kill the other party member. She refused and drew her sword to attack me. I took off my helmet and exposed my bare neck to her. She was getting ready to kill me when I said "yes, draw blood, let the demon take over again and we'll see if this town will slake your thirst. She sighed and fell to her knees and begged that I spared him. I killed him and offered to take the sword from her in exchange for eating part of him and defiling the corpse. She took the bait and consumed the bard. At this point she finally lost her paladin powers, for defiling flesh in exchange for having her burden lightened. It was a start, but to win I truly had to break her character down.

Having lost her powers, she willingly began to debase herself, holding a good alignment in spirit, as she still hoped that when the 90 days were up she could pull the reverse on me, which would redeem her as well. She joined my character and the cleric in consuming human flesh, killing innocents and general mayhem. At the end of it all, I had offered to treat the remaining members of the family to a feast, in honor of the bard who had gone missing, and to celebrate my apparent departure from evil. Several of the nuetral characters had caught on, but they were payed off to not spoil anything. I told the now fallen paladin that for her final act she should prepare us all a nice dinner, out of a local good cleric. The dm roleplayed the cleric perfectly, he kept asking "why are you doing this to me" and saying shit like "You don't have to do this." While she was busy choking the life out of an innocent, I was busy getting members of her family to come to dinner.

The cleric is prepared flawlessly, and appears to be a particular tender cut of pork. The dinner party goes well, we all socialized and played our parts. Finally at the end of the meal, I drop the allusion making me look normal, returning to the back spiked plate monstrosity I had always been. Complete with sharpened teeth, pallid skin and lips that had been cut off to augment my disturbing visage (willing deformities from BOVD) and invited the Paladin to tell everyone what she had done. She told the party, choking back tears, that she had been magically compelled to commit horrible attrocities, and went into detail about the acts themself. The rest of the party was shocked, and I slow clapped and told her that she made a little mistake. I had never explicitly ordered her to do anything. She had committed the atrocities on her own volition, and now her dear cousin had heard it all. I grabbed her cousin and told her that if she offered up the soul of her cousin, she could retain her good name and prevent the forces of darkness by taking just one more soul. FINALLY she rolls sense motive and I have to roll bluff. She got a 11, and I got 30.

While the rest of the party runs to grab their gear, she kills her sister and offers me the sister's soul. I trade her soul to the demon who took mine and become a demon, as a pure innocent soul is worth far more then a corrupted and evil one. I laughed at her and gloated that she had lost, because I was now beyond redemption, as I had just been infused with demonic essence. She said that she could still atone for what she had done, and the cleric, who was a follower of nerull, said "not if you're dead" and had his cohort, a ghoul assassin, paralyze her. The party arrived just in time to watch us sacrifice her soul to the forces of the abyss before disappearing in a cloud of sulfurous fog. The evil members of the party quit after that, and the good and neutrals went right back to doing the heroic shit, but they would always be haunted by that one evening.

Concerning AotS: If I say the demon I bound to my skin was a succubus, would that give my character nice supple boobs? Then if I felt myself up; would I be feeling it, the succubus be feeling it, or both of us?

Only if you have a good dm, it's about time that evil finally gets rewarded.
    >> Anonymous 09/24/09(Thu)03:36 No.5986416
My current campaign is an evil one, which started out nuetral but the DM, without knowing it, made us all evil through events in our characters game.

So it started off, a Cleric, a Rogue, and a Ranger.
We needed to find out info about why bad things was happening to the town we were in at the time.
We find a guy, who was evil, but injured, crippled and helpless, and he had info on what was going on.
So the Ranger and the Rogue are like. "Okay then, we'll just beat it out of him." and he defends himself with a a dull knife used for food.
My character, the kickass good cleric of strength, valor, courage, and kickassery, steps in and says "No!" but they go ahead anyway, so I intervene, knock both the rogue and the ranger out, but not before they kill the helpless man, and I drag them out of the labyrinth under the chapel and bring them to the church priests so they can be taken care of while I go off alone to find out info.
So I get myself into trouble, haha.. with no party members, and eventually find my character near dead in a ditch.
The Rogue and Ranger find me, and poke me with a stick.
DM: "He nudges slightly and groans, but nothing more"
Rogue with stick: "I poke -harder-"
    I died...
Anyway now im an awesome wizard that kills villages, so im happy.

If I was the dm, I would say both, but if you do it too much the succubus takes contol and your character sluts out.

That's all well and good, but give yourself some credit. You had the girl so confused that she either didn't bother, or didn't think about it. That's GOTTA count for something, eh?

Besides, it's not often (at least on /tg/) you hear someone breaking a paladin down piece by piece.

I was thinking that also. I'm pretty sure that succubus is saner than the person who bind her to his skin and then do sexual things to himself. In fact I can see the Succubus become nearly chaste as it is most likely so grossed out by your fetish that it from that point forth only has sex in the missionary position with a willing partner of the opposite sex, as anything else will be too close to fetish territory.
    >> Anonymous 09/24/09(Thu)03:59 No.5986582
    >>5986566
You kidding? A succubus could feed off of your pleasure as well as your partner's. It'd be glorious, like having sex with two people at once.

Good story, the sense motive/bluff thing was a bit favoured to you though.
She should have been alowed to pass that sense motive check without a roll, especially after you told her you tricked her.

She was less pissed at me, and more disappointed with herself. But we both agreed that the dm's word was law, so what could she do?

    >>5986675

She could have asked for a sense motive at any time. We played where you didn't wait for the dm to tell you to roll. It cut down on meta gaming.

I ordinarily really like your stories, but "I know the system in and out and use my knowledge[1] to ruin the game for someone else" makes me =(
    Oh well.
    Gratz on the win?

[1] High level characters would know what a geas does, but she didn't have the player knowledge to ask, for one.

    >>5986806

She played longer then I had, and to be fair, I didn't realize that she wasn't geased to me. It was a contest to see who could screw over each others character, someone had to lose.
    >> Anonymous 09/24/09(Thu)04:53 No.5986945
    >>5986851
Mmmm. A relevant argument, but duration != mastery, and her not calling shenanigans on the Geas makes me wonder about her player knowledge.
Geas on something non-completeable, like "obey me" is 1/day per level.
Not following a Geas is 3d6 dmg + sickened, big deal; so if anyone thinks a Geas is going to make someone start eating clerics and offering up souls, there has been a serious misunderstanding about the power of the spell.
You, I suspect, know the above. She obviously didn't.
You (and, more alarmingly, the DM) taking advantage of her lack of player knowledge seems shady. Letting someone play by the wrong rules, and taking advantage of that is... meh.
I would bet money, if someone had mentioned, "You know, you can just take 10 points of damage and stick a sword in WW," things would've turned out differently.

I didn't know too much dnd either, I assumed at the time that you got weaker and weaker the more you resisted. My first games were whfrp and a tinkered version of =][=nquisitor, so dnd was kind of a shock to the system.

We had a theievs guild game that ended up having us rule the city. The trick is b/f the beganing of the game have players have connections with other players. My cleric of tiamat kobold was the father of one of the female players while most of the other pcs followed Tiamat.
However the game died when some paladins discovered that we were using the local hospital as a eugenics program dedicated to producing as many evil half dragons as possible and promptly whooped our ass.
