    You're a blacksmith, and baaaaad shit goes down all the sudden in your little town that gets lots of adventurer foot traffic thanks to the ancient looking tower a day's walk from it.

    Currently:
    You left from the town after burning down just your shop to hopefully draw at least a group of scouts from the nearest city. You left them information and a gift wrapped werewolf girl who tried to eat you the night before.

    While walking to the tower you nearly died from falling asleep, but learned the runes on your sword luckily ward off evil. You decided holding the sword constantly would be a huge hassle, so you tried drawing the runes onto yourself and lightly etched it into your favorite hand me down blacksmith hammer.
    Drawing the runes in mud didn't seem to help much, so perhaps rashly you carved the rune into your arm. It hurts much more then it should even after the bleeding has stopped, but on the bright side you no longer feel the hazy aura begging you to sleep as you grow closer to the tower.

    Well being: Bandaged claw wounds, 3 hours of near death magical sleep after 24+ hours of intense labor. Feeling very vengeful.

    Equipment:
    Backpack with supplies, sleeping roll, 3 light healing potions, 1 book on undead, 1 book on general monsters. Silver short sword- barely battle worthy. Crossbow- 20 bolts in sling.

    "The Shit ____": A hammer your father jokingly named, and in drunken stupors would rename whenever he was happy with it. You are very fond of it.

    Armor: Helmet with faceplate that can be pulled down, peasant's clothing, blacksmith apron.

    The wagon behind you is filled with all the booze and oil lanterns you could find in town, a rope with a grapple, and a great axe.

    A Large gate has finally come into view, it's a black wrought iron fence the bars sharp and barbed, barely far enough apart to fit someone's arm through. Only this gate and a large open courtyard stand between you and the tower.

    The ground in front of you is covered in tiny bloody footprints, the fifteen to twenty young children who walked all this way in their zombified state, clearly did not put on any shoes. And obviously they didn't stop once the rough road tore at their feet.

    Your heart jumps as you see shapes moving in the courtyard and you stop pulling the cart. Armored forms are moving in the a tight formation that makes them look like a patrol of guards.

    You think about just kicking the gate down. That looks pretty unlikely.

    You drag the cart off the road into the tree line and hide there watching the patrol moving. They are walking just like the kids from the town, but they do not look healthy in the least. You'd guess they are malnourished or walking dead, their armor and clothing is in a sad, muddy state.

    They seem to be shambling around the courtyard in a mob about ten strong, and soon they walk out of sight around the tower.

    You quietly watch for the patrol as you stuff a few bits of rag into some of the bottles making a few "cocktails".They show back up and walk back around to the back, looks like they are just moving in circles around the courtyard.

    You look at the gate however and think for a moment, setting this iron outer gate on fire does not seem like it would do much good except make there be a flaming metal fence in your way. It's not so high that you couldn't climb it, but it's covered in sharp barbs with large spear like decorations on the top.

    You look up at the large metal spikes at the top of the fence, you could indeed hammer them so that they are bent and you could climb over.

    From the way the were-wolf girl spoke, there are many more guards then the ten walking around outside. And you'd have to find a way across the courtyard to the actual tower.

    You might be able to break the chain or the padlock on the gate with your hammer as well, but it would take a few minutes.

    You pull out a flint and tinder and light the oil lamp. You have a few minutes before the guards return.
    After you stick a few of the bottles into your back pack and then take off your smithing apron. You toss the rope up onto the fence so you don't have to touch the barbs and it latches onto one of the spears on the top.

    You climb carefully, and then drop your apron over the top, and slide over it, wincing as you feel something snag, but you are not cut. You move over it and pull your apron down.

    You drop the few feet to the ground and knock the wind out of yourself on the other side. You reach through the fence and grab the lit lantern. The guards will be moving around soon. Your wagon is on the other side of the fence.

    Quickly you hide behind the statue, and turn back off your lantern. You slide your leather apron back on, for all the good it will do you. You look around the corner of the statue's base and see the patrol shambling into sight.

    You actually remember a couple of them after seeing them closer up none of their armor matches, and it's very clear they are dead. These were all treasure hunters who's last stop was your village though out the years.

    You always expected the wanna be heroes who came here died, but you never thought you'd have to see the outcome of it. And never expected to see them shambling around as undead.

    They don't seem to be sentient, as it seems hard for them to even walk correctly, but they still carry their armor and weapons they held in life, so looks could be deceiving.

    There is a huge decorative black door leading into the tower. It's got horrible things carved into it, and just looking at it makes the rune on your arm burn so bad you have to cover your own mouth to keep from crying out in pain.

    There is a balcony that you might be able to reach with your rope just barely, but climbing it between the guards patrolling would be very rough in your tired state, and you're no acrobat.

    When the patrol is out of sight you run as fast as your tired body will let you and then toss the rope up onto the balcony, it catches on the iron railing that matches the fence you just went over, but lacks its defenses.

    You start to scale as fast as you can, and are working up more then just a sweat, your chest is on fire and you can hear your heart pounding in your chest. You're near the top when you hear the patrol's footsteps rounding the corner.

    You strain to pull the rope below you up with your legs as you hang there and just barely manage to get it about head level as you hang there by your arms that feel like they could fall off.

    They slowly approach, but it does not seem like that see you. Then to your dismay they suddenly stop right beneath you. The smell of rot fills your nose and you gag silently. You reach down with your mouth and take part of your shirt and apron between your teeth and bite down to keep from making any noises of disgust or strain.

    It's like they are listening to a voice you cannot hear. They turn to face the door and stare at it. You remember the Were wolf mentioning the door and how it spoke to her. They don't seem to be stopping because they noticed you, but because they are getting orders.

    All ten of them turn and start to walk for the outer gate as if they are leaving the courtyard, you pull yourself up and let out a sigh of relief.

    Sitting not five feet away is a corpse in a chair. A crossbow sits in its lap. The empty eye sockets stare straight ahead and it is not moving. It's mostly skeletal and does not appear to have moved in quite some time. It is covered in cobwebs, but staring at it is unsettling. Its rotted face pulls the skin around its teeth back baring them in some sort of wicked smile.

    You toss the crossbow onto the floor, and as raise your hammer at the same time.

    As soon as the bow clatters to the floor the corpse sits up straight and a strange green glow fills its eye sockets, but as soon as it stirs its skeletal head is turned to powder by your hammer. Bits smash all around after a satisfying crunch breaks the quiet of the twisted tower.

    The body thuds out of it's chair onto the floor, and you look up. You can see the undead adventurers turning and shambling as fast as they can back toward the tower.

    The decorated door to the tower seems to hum, and the noise makes you want to fall to your knees. Your arm feels like it wants to tear from your body and the rune upon it actually bubbles with heat as if a brand is being pushed against your skin.

    You curse your luck as you hear the door below begin to creak and clank open, you light your lantern as you walk inside. It's a dank room that smells more then awful. Breathing actually hurts in here.

    Bottles line the walls, alchemy test tubes and equipment cover the three tables in the middle of the room. The bottles are filled with animal parts, human parts, and various colors. None of the liquids in this room look like they would be good for your health at all. Your eyes burn.

    You can hear feet shuffling in the distance through the door at the far end of the room. It's unlocked but closed. Outside you can hear the patrol moving inside through the large metal doors.

    Working as fast as you can you take the glass off your lantern and you light the rag sticking out of the end of the bottle of liquid. The door to the room flys open and pressing against each other in a mob, undead begin to file into the room.

    Most of them look braindead, and their mouths hang agape, their eye sockets hollow and empty. But a heavily armored Zombie with a sword rushing at you looking much more skilled then the others has glowing green eyes and moves almost like a living person.

    You stand up with the flaming bottle in one hand, and one of the vials you pulled off the shelf in the other. They will be upon you in but a moment.

    You throw the large vial at the first zombie with the green eyes and it smashes into his face. It however does not break, the zombie falls back wards after a comical BINK of glass against a skull.

    The zombie is still moving and starting to get up, but its eyes stop glowing green. Instead an undead behind it wielding a crossbow's eyes light up and suddenly it is moving skillfully. It's Skeletal hands pull the trigger on the cross bolt and send a bolt into your leg just above the knee cap. It hurts like a mother, it starts to reload and its eye color fades returning to the one with the sword who is finished standing.

    You curse as blood pours around the bolt in your leg and you throw the flaming bottle. It shatters at the crowd's feet and they light up like tender. They let out an unearthly noise as they begin to burn still staggering in your direction, but not making it far as they begin to fall over in flames.

    You reach down to pull out the bolt and then hear the sound of cracking glass and look up.

    A sudden thought fills your head an old nearly forgotten memory. You don't remember why he said it to you, but it is your father's voice in a drunken stupor hitting your shoulder a little too hard before saying

    I would say not to go back into the courtyard, but given two choices, take the most favorable. The gimp leg may prevent our movement from going too quickly, and it may be that we have run our adrenaline to its last.     You stand as much as your leg will let you, you manage to snag two more bottles on your way out, but you can't even tell what they are, in fact in all the mess you drop one and it shatters at your feet, obviously not made of the same glass as the one you first threw, it smells like death and racism.

    You move out onto the balcony since you can't make it through the flame and zombies still trying to file in to the actual hallway. You can feel the heat behind you and hear breaking glass.

    You hook your grapple back into the rail, and wrap your hands around your apron then grab the rope, before you can swing yourself over it however, an explosion decides to give you hand in launching you violently over the railing.

    Your tirelessly work hardened hands manage to hold onto the rope, but your shoulders take the strain and feel like they might tear out of your sockets, but they don't. You look up and see nothing but flames. That was close.

    Here you were setting fire to some god forsaken magic users evil tower. Sitting on your ass you pull your backpack into your lap and dig for your potions. You pull out the arrow and pour the potion on the wound. It heals up nicely, but you can still feel the pain from the wound.

    Slowly you stand and put back on your pack. The fire didn't damage the structure, but shows no signs of going out quickly.

    Some of them look singed and had survived the explosion, some look unscathed so they might not of been in that hallway at all, declaring that there must be a -lot- of undead here. None of them have green eyes however.

    You hear a woosh and look up, an arrow just breezed by your head and sank into the wood of the cart. leaning out of a much higher then the balcony window is another green eyes undead working a long bow, and is currently getting another arrow ready.

    You finally feel the cart bump into the door, and you stand, loading another bolt into your bow, you hear another arrow hit the cart bursting one of the many bottles of booze inside.

    The crowd is finally getting close to you as well, one set of eyes turn green and it raises a mace above its head ready to strike you, and you fire your loaded bolt into its head from close range watching it topple to the floor.

    A moment later an arrow slams into your shoulder and you curse loudly. You scoop up a bottle of booze in each hand letting your crossbow hang around your shoulder and throw one bottle against the wall as you drink from the other ( continued in another inc post ASAP.)

    You really don't feel well. In fact you're fighting letting your body give out all together. It takes every bit of effort to start moving to that door. You can see zombies filing out, but these are dressed in female clothing, and they are carrying buckets of water, its amazing how fast they got there, perhaps they were already on the upper floor putting out the flames there.

    As you run in you are ready to fight them, but they pay you no mind at all as they try to put out the flames on the quickly ruining door. The dozen plus undead behind you are up and moving with your death on their minds however.

    Its a long straight hallway ending in darkness once the light from the fire goes out. The walls are lined in horrific art, and the floor holds the footprints in blood left by the children of your town.

    You can hear the undead following behind you now as you step into the room, your torch blows out for no apparent reason. You can't see a damned thing, and suddenly making your eyes burn a green flame erupts in the middle of the room sitting atop a pedestal.

    You look around the room, turning around once as you take it all in, falling onto your knees. All the town's children along with several faces of young treasure hunter's and nobleman's children who have gone missing lately... they lay on stone slabs all around the room in a giant circle, they appear to be asleep with bandages over their eyes and latches keeping them pinned to the tables.

    The humming gets louder and you cannot stop yourself from looking right at the flame in the middle of the room and then up above it. There is no roof, and as if it were a long tube, you can see the night sky high above, the full moon almost filling the center.

    Behind the green flame on the wall in a space between two slabs with children atop them the wall is opening up. Out slides a massive chair with a twisted corpse upon it dressed in fine robes. It stands and points at you, and the green flame goes out, instead appearing in its own eye sockets.

    You freeze in place dumbfounded as the humming becomes cries of pain and torture, their voices rising into a twisted song that your mind cannot deny. Not even holding the sword helps. When the voices finally gather together in a rising cry they suddenly stop and everything goes black.

    ( Gonna call it quits for tonight. Tomorrow night at the same bat place, same bat time.)
