    Previous thread: >>6595851

You break free from your cocoon of debris and filth. Despite the fact that you expected little growth of yourself, you're surprisingly large. About two foot tall! Wait, tall? Oh yes. You're bipedal now - although your new gait is rather clumsy, like that of an ape. It doesn't help that one of your legs possesses a permanant limp.
Your mouth is less of a shapeless more and slightly more doglike. You also have a long, thin tail - like that of an emaciated, starve cat, the skin clinging the bone. It definitely helps for balance. Despite the new tail, you're still capable of using your spinnerets - they're simply much smaller now, and large operations now take several hours. It's quite inefficient. Your front legs - or now arms - are still quite animalistic, savage and webbed, with retractable claws. Your previously deformed arms of your chest, however, now have articulated claws with opposable thumbs and can fold outwards. Although these arms have no true strength, they are capable of dextrous function.
You now only have two eyes and your body has become strange. Although you still have bones, once more, your skin has hardened into very, very thin, malleable chitin, a smooth yet resilient protective layer. As for your tongue? It still possesses that lethal harpoon, even more wicked than ever - although the poison that previous existed is lacking.

So, now that you have evolved and you have hatched, what action do you wish to take?

The rats have gone. They haven't really cared to stay and have left. Your children didn't work as hard on them as you did on Runt, the poor guy.

Swimmer has focused on its – no, her talents. With an equal focus between evolution and size, and human and carp, Swimmer now looks surprisingly humanoid. Think a slimmer deep one.
Tank on the other hand, has clearly focused entirely on dog and has gone for growth. He’s the same size as you, and has deformed the hiding place with his size. Looks like an insectoid Schmahkah.
Scout has focused on cat and dog and has gone for evolution. Large ears, long maw, barely a foot long. Small, but all of the senses are heavily advanced. Still an it.
You now have an even better swimmer than... well, Swimmer. One of your fin slugs has gone completely carp, and is now practically designed for the water. Gone for growth, same size as Swimmer. Let’s call it Fish.
Another fin slug has gone completely fly and completely evolution. As a result, you’ve got what looks like a fat, pinkish dragonfly, with a curved tail. Let’s call him Flyer.
A pair of your fin slugs have focused on human and gone between evolution and growth. They’re basically slug men. One female, one male. Slug Guy and Slug Girl.
Sadly, the remaining fin slug died of illness during gestation.
    This leaves you with:
    Swimmer (F), Tank (M), Scout (H), Fish (H), Flyer (M), Slug Guy (M), Slug Girl (F)

The ones that have evolved into males have remove their ability to produce young.
So, four are pregnant and need to lay their eggs almost immediately. Each carries enough eggs to produce an average of thirty spawn each.

    Don't be so demanding.

In any case, you proceed to chow down on the human - well, the parts that aren't rotten. The rest of them feed on the cat. Although you become full, you're still not quite at the stage of gestation. Neither are they.

I agree... we need a breeding ground and this place seems suitable. Do we know how close it is to the surface and entrances? We need somewhere deep, dark and secluded... but roomy enough. Once we have a Hive set up we can begin our explorations properly.

Maybe we should work on remotely communicating with our primary offspring over greater distances so we can remotely direct their explorations when it finally comes to the point when we have to "split the party"

We need to find a bigger lair, someplace we can make ours long-term. Somewhere deeper in the sewers.

I propose we start hunting more proactively - but make sure that we're finding most of our prey someplace further afield than our lair, as it doesn't pay to make trouble right on our doorstep.

Schmahkah is the name of one of your children. He was in the same generation as your current children but he was a bit of a rebel. He basically ruined everything you created and as a result, you killed him and ate him.

Schmahkah was our strongest and eldest offspring, who tried to eat us and usurp our place as patriarch. We fought him in an epic battle, killed him, and ate him.

So, these eggs are from a slug who's also eaten Schmahkah, or is descended from us after we ate Schmahkah. Either way we need to be careful, and find out where the parent is.
    >> Anonymous 11/06/09(Fri)22:01 No.6598623
Alright, let's put this together, if they taste like Schmahkah then it obviously bred with this new warlord and the warlord carried it's offspring. It's only a couple days younger then we are an has been on the scene long enough to kill a fox. It also possibly has more children then we do, who the hell knows what it thinks of us if it was in relations with Schmankah.

You decide that it’s a good idea to claim this are as your own – as for the eggs, you currently decide to raise them as your own, but you don’t remain adverse the idea of eating them if you have to.

Your new hive is a particularly large and tall chamber, a separate room – perhaps it used to be used for maintenance or something. In any case, it is long abandoned. The mothers and fathers of these egg sacs used to live here, but they haven’t been here for days.

They’ve moved on, apparently. Any attempt to sense another patriarch results in failure. You are the only one in the vicinity.

We can take some and try to imprint them, but we shouldn't take the whole clutch and expect loyal followers.

the incredibly large egg yields means that the most important thing to us, as an individual, and a colony, are our eggs. every successive generation is going to see exponential growth, if we've managed to hold the Schmahkahs back a generation we have a decisive advantage over them PROVIDED we don't lose ours.
protecting our eggs is #1 priority.

how muchcontrol do we have over our offspring? is it really a matter of imprinting once they're born? can we trust any of our 1st generation kids totally? can we give, say, swimmer, a group of 10 or 15 2nd gens and tell him to take them, explore, found a new colony and report back after they're established?

THAT MEANS SCHAK IMPREGNATED 1, AND THAT 1 HAD 12 OR SO, WHICH ALL LAID THESE.

hell, technically speaking he didn't even betray anyone because as far as he knew we didn't exist when he was born. none of our other children knew any better so you're arguing that magically he did? he did exactly what he did, he just tried to kill us when we pointed out that we were the actual original. his words clearly show that he didn't believe that we were the original, NOT that he knew and was deliberately betraying us

that shows that its merely a matter of putting the offspring on the right track when they hatch, not some kind of bizarre genetic warfare because we didn't take bio's warning about not being around when our children hatched because we chose to gestate.

    >>6599028

its not really imprinting them its just telling them our story instead of letting the others indoctrinate them with the betrayer's version of the story.

You send Scout and Flyer to patrol, while Tank, Guy and Girl guard the original hive. Swimmer patrols the water with Fish while you look after the new hive.

Days past and you consider the various results. Scout and Flyer have found a rather curious discovery – a recent human corpse, deeper inside of the tunnel. It’s another rather ragged looking individual, a poor, sorry excuse for a human. It appears to have died from blunt trauma to the head. They also located a small pride of wild cats, as well as several nests of much smaller creatures.
The nest back at your original hive is beginning to grow and grow and grow – the eggs are close to hatching, over a hundred of them.
Swimmer and Fish report all sorts of strange, mystical wonders near the saltwater body. They dare not venture into it but when they scout near the various openings, they report all sorts of strange and wonderful creatures - all sorts of strange things that they do not recognize.

That was the past. This is the present. The eggs in the new hive are hatching. Thirty tiny little Schmahkah imitations emerge, with various different alterations. Rather than single claws, they have large, spread clawed paws. They have spinnerets and they also appear to have poison glands. They also have long, rat-like tails. They stare up at you curiously, all of them ever so tiny, still crawling along.
    >> DeliciousSlug 11/06/09(Fri)22:48 No.6599082
We've all ready killed and ate their young. And took their home, if they have not set up another hive or died to something in the tunnels.

They know where this one is, they could be hunting for our hive. Or something of the sort. All we do know is that they know exactly where this place is.

So moving OUR eggs here is stupid.

They seem built for combat, so we should utilise that. We tell them our noble heritage, and tell them that they are destined to be the warriors of our mighty empire. We leave them in Tank's charge (Tank being a pretty good role-model for aspiring warriors).

We order all our children (and the new babies) to return to our old hive, and disguise its presence/fortify it as best they can. They're to be doubly vigilant for intruders. If the eggs somehow hatch before we return, they're to tell our story to the newborn and make sure they understand that we are the leader. And Tank has to keep an eye on the new warriors, and make sure they don't try eating the other babies.

Meanwhile, we take Scout and go to the human corpse we've recently disovered, to spread its ingestion between the two of us; we need to improve our minions' minds.

The human corpse is of concern to us. Has anything been eating it? Can we tell what? Scout can have a sniff at it, maybe pick up some trace of the other brood if any remains.

The cats we can hunt and eat, if need be - catch them alone, one at a time, and bring them back for food.

The baby Schmahkahs, though... let them feel awe at the sight of their ultimate progenitor, swamp their tiny minds with feelings of reverential dread. We are the First, we are the Oldest, and we are to be respected and obeyed. We provide food to those who are loyal, we dispense swift retribution to those who are not.

With any luck, if we can imprint such an impression firmly enough upon them at this early stage in their lives they will carry it with them henceforth.

    propaganda hax works too

assign them to tank and have them use their intellects to develop some form of group orientated combat designed to have them all work together

Now let's go visit our other eggs.
It might be good to designate a single room as a hatchery, with a dedicated "teacher", so we don't have to run around everywhere.

I'll be starting the third and final thread of the night with an all-around update. So, give what orders that you want to now and they shall be done.
Then your own brood will hatch.

We've gotta be there for the hatching. The newly hatched guard and build up the new area. Resting areas, webbing to block the entryways + early signals.
    >> Anonymous 11/06/09(Fri)23:28 No.6599371
Assign the new converts to Tank, he is our general. He will oversee that they follow our orders and can act as a cohesive fighting unit.
Then report to our unhatched brood. We must be present for all hatchings, to ensure loyalty and proper indoctrination. Also to inspect the results of our genetic labors.

Divide the Schmahkaspawn up between tank, the scouters and the aquatics (if they can swim)

Tank keeps guard with Guy and Girl.

Scouts search closer to the city to try and find more creatures.

Have the aquatic ones try and catch us a new creature.
    >> Anonymous 11/06/09(Fri)23:28 No.6599378

Assign Tank to teach the newly hatched.
Go visit our our hatching eggs.
Designate the newly discovered room as a hatchery/learning environment, with a dedicated "teacher", so we don't have to return to
    indoctrinate.
Since it appears that the new spawn carry the intelligence gene, RESTRICT THEIR MATING. They are loyal now (hopefully) and will follow the command to NOT FUCKING FUCK UNLESS WE FUCKING TELL THEM TO FUCKING FUCK.

General hunting and food-gathering, rats and cats for bulk, new samples of sea-life for variety. Scout should be ranging further afield, specifically seeking evidence of the renegade brood. Meanwhile we can dig in, keep indoctrinating the found brood and wait for the other eggs to hatch.

I like the early signals part, especially.
    A web-alarm.

    This.

And while they're still burning with religious zeal, we should send Flyer, Tank and the soldierlings to lure out a wild cat and eat it.

The rest of us should return to the old hive to await the hatching of the eggs.
    >> Firstquest 11/06/09(Fri)23:30 No.6599390
Get people prepared for evolution after hatching. We also want the new guys watched at all times. Do not show the new guys where the old hive is.

Theyre on sup/tg/, but Slug Quest 3 seems to be missing. Thats unfortunate, it was one of my favorites. When we introduced the commandments of Slul-Hugoth to our children.
