Last time you picked up your new suit and did a bit of shopping, mostly for some maps. You got a good one of the city and of the Human Lands. You also got Newt enrolled in the Wizard's college.

After several hours of getting your measurements taken and waiting, You have been presented with two sets of silk pajamas. One for you and one for Ruby. Red in color, the silk glides across your skin. Above the left breast in gold thread your name is sewn into the clothing. "Now, that will be ten silver for both sets. If you happen upon more silk, I would be more then happy to buy it from you!"

Hold up, I'm here to participate. Do we have any extra silk or was that all of it? If it was then leave the store, but do remember to take down the name of the tailor and ask if he'd like to perhaps help sponsor our show. We'd have a little add for his/her shop on our wagon if he does. After you do that leave and try and head back to the inn to pick up Faral and go to the Elven Embassy.

We need to look into the cost of renting a place in the city as well. From the sound of things in the last thread we are apparently planning to stay a while.

From what I remember we're going to be here for a month or two, so yeah we should probably do that too. We might have to do a bit of shopping though, we need a pretty big apartment that will not only have enough bedrooms but be large enough to fit in Grue and Tak'al.

It's still early afternoon, around two o'clock if the various clocks around the city are to be believed. The only silk left after the Pajamas would just be scraps, maybe enough to make a handkerchief or two.
As you are paying you ask if the Tailor would be interested in advertising with your show. You'd put something on your wagon, and give them a special mention during the performances. The tailor strokes his short beard thoughtfully. "I'll tell you what. You come back when you have bigger name in this town, then we talk. I no give money when I'm not guaranteed a return."
You head back to the Inn, Faral will know where the Elven Embassy is. Along the way you keep an eye out for real estate offices, but you don't notice any. Reaching the Silver Dragon you find Faral sipping on tea. "Hello Janice. I've been expecting you. How did things go with Newt?"

You bow low to Faral, electing a giggle. You don't even try to hide the fat you're showing off your new duds. You tell her that things went better then expected, but you were never allowed into the school itself. Faral nods. "I remember hearing about that. It's to keep people from getting hurt, as far as I can tell. In the Elf Lands we don't have need of musty old schools. We learn out in the open." Oh, but you did get to go into the library. You've learned a few new songs. "I will be happy to hear them sometime. Shall we be off?"
Stopping only for Ruby to get another slice of cake from a street cafe, "That sausage wasn't very filling, and this cake is delicious. It's my money and I'll spend it how I want." Faral leads you to the Embassy of the Elves. It is a modest building behind a wall. The building itself is unimpressive, a bland three story building, but the gardens surrounding it are magnificent. Trees and flowers grow, but they look natural, not planted. And you don;t recognize any of the species of plants either. Two guards stand outside of the gates, wearing ceremonial looking, but very functional, weapons and armor.
Faral bows to them an exchanges words in Elvish. "I'm sorry Janice, they would like to see Ruby and your papers before they let you in. They are hesitant to let in non-elves. And they speak common," She glares at them angrily, "I'm sure of that."

Ruby and yourself show them your travel and identification papers. One of the guards takes them heads towards the embassy. Faral swears and has a very heated conversation with the remaining guard in Elvish. He simply shrugs and stands in front of the gate.
After about twenty minutes the second guard comes back and hands you your papers. Giving a bow to Faral and an almost indistinguishable bow to Ruby and yourself, he opens the gate, motioning for you to enter. Faral is bristling with anger. "This is so rude! I can't believe they did this to me. You are my guests and an insult to you in an insult to me!" She sighs. "I doubt you will be able to understand most of what we'll talk about, but they should give you tea and refreshments." And she's right. You can pick up a word or two, but for the most part Elvish is unknown to you.
The tea they serve tastes of honey and they serve you fruit while Faral talks to an older looking Elf sitting on a bench in the garden. The Elves have you sit in some soft grass nearby.

You hate getting brushed off like this, but you don;t want to make them TOO angry. So you pluck a few blades of grass, none of them seem to notice. Reaching into a nearby bush you pick a few flowers, again they don;t seem to care too much. Shrugging, you go for broke and start weaving some grass and flowers into a tiara. You forgot you're weaving kind of sucked. You don't get so much a tiara and a bundle of grass. Ruby sighs and takes it from you. Her fingers twine and pull, and in a few minutes she has a pretty circlet of plants. She places it around your top hat.
Some time later, Ruby has been trying to teach you how to weave grass, Faral comes back to you. "Well, good news all around. I got a map of my homelands, AND I got approval to take the lot of you back with me. The roads will be open the night of the full moon after next. They would like me to come back a week before that. I'll meet you back at the inn tonight, they want a preliminary report." The last full moon was just a few nights ago.

You high five and hug Faral at the good news, you'll have to tell everyone once you get back. Some of the Elves look up at the sound of your hands coming together, and give you strange looks, you ignore them. You're escorted out of the Embassy my a young looking elf, who gives you a polite bow as she sees you out.
Well its a bit later in the afternoon, about 3:30 now. You think Ruby's flower circlet is pretty and decide to find Kirthri, see if there is some way to preserve them. Along the way you stumble upon a small dusty shop set away from the road. Entering it the bell gives a sad ding. It's dusty in here and the dirty windows block most of the light. What little light DOES get in falls about just about anything and everything you can think of... finding in someone's attic. Just some of the things on sale include a ship in a bottle, that moves with eery realism, a rocking horse in a corner that rocks itself, and a Cuckoo Clock that has no numbers or face, but ticks away steadily. You DO see some spyglasses on a display, but no price. "And how can I help you young ladies? And welcome to Milo's Curiosities."

This Milo has freaked you out beyond belief. Shoving the key into your pocket and throwing down the silver, you grab both telescopes and bolt. As you and Ruby rush out of the shop Milo looks up. "OH! It's not an accident by the way."
Clutching the box with the two spyglasses in it you rush back to the main market. Ruby leans heavily on you and looks around. "What the hell was all that? Who was that guy?"
"May I help you ladies?" A man with an enormous mustache and balding head is unlocking a door next to you. He removes an Out To Lunch sign from the door and holds it open. Looking up you read the sign on the building. Pilder and Sons Real Estate.

Blinking at the coincidence, you follow who you assume to be Mr. Pilder into the building. Inside you see three young men leaning over desks, writing down numbers and using adding machine, something you've only ever heard about. Ever so often one will pull down a handle on the machine and with a crank and ding a strip of paper is forced out. They each give you only the briefest glance before getting back to their work.
Mr. Pilder shows you into his office, with expensive leather chairs and a large oak desk. "And how was it I can help you?" You tell him your planning on staying in the city for about two months, and are looking for a house to rent for that time. There are ten of you total, and two of you stand well over eight feet tall, a Minotaur and a Half Ogre. "Hmm... let me see..." He turns to a large bookcase behind him and runs a hand down the spine of several books. "Oh, here we are... I have three ten bedroom houses for sale or rent. 100 gold to purchase, 500 silver to rent for two months. A stable on the grounds. I also have several other properties which may interest you." After browsing the ledger two houses strike you as suitable. A 7 bedroom for 150 silver a month, and a 6 bedroom for 100 per month. Both are located near livery stables.

You can't decide between the seven bedroom and the ten. The seven is in a decent part of town, but looking at the plans for the ten it seems to be in the upper class area. You'll have to discuss it with the party before you make a decision of that magnitude... plus Mr. Pilder wants the money up front and you don't have that much on you. You tell him you'll be in tomorrow with the final decision. "Very good madam." He places a red bookmark in the ledger and puts it back on the shelf. "I shall schedule you for a ten o'clock then." Ruby and yourself are led out of the building.
"OH! I'm sorry miss! That was an accident! Are you alright?" A man has just bumped into Ruby, almost knocking her down. "I'm sorry, I wasn't looking where I was going!" He's a young man, a little taller then ruby and of medium build. His red hair contrasts sharply with his blue eyes.

The words of Milo suddenly come back to you. Quickly taking out the Spyglass of the Past you look through it at the spot where the man bumped into Ruby. "What... what are you doing ma'am?" Fully extended, you see nothing but open countryside, and strange beasts sunning on a riverbed. Pulling it in one section, you see a bloody and chaotic battle, men scream silently and swords flash. Pulling it in again you see people constructing a wall, scaffolding and bricks climbing higher and higher. Fully compacted you see a few moments ago. Ruby is just leaving the shop, and the man bumps into her. Because you were looking for it, you see his hand dart into her cloak and come back with a pouch.
And accident, right. Then why does he have her money pouch? Ruby quickly pats herself, her eyes going wide. "You Bastard!" The man swears and runs, Ruby hot on his heals.

You rush after the culprit, calling out for the watch, and that he's a thief. Ruby is a lot faster then you, and the two of them have a head start. Then an idea strikes, Using your ventriloquism, which has always been almost unnaturally good, you make the sounds of pounding feel and a police whistle. The thief freaks out even more and starts trying to dodge around people, throwing things to trip up Ruby, who deftly leaps over them.
One of the Vendors looks up at your shouts and stands up. The man is huge, even wider then Grue but not as tall. As thief jumps over a bench the vendor steps in front of him, knocking him down with one blow from his huge... well stomach. The thief is sprawled on the ground, Ruby on top of him in a flash, one of her knives in her hand.

The watchmen, keeping a careful eye on her, talks to the huge street vendor. The other talks to some of the other people around.
Shortly after, the two watchmen hand Ruby back her money pouch, two pouches now actually, and start dragging the thief away. "I'm sorry ma'am, but when we saw the knife out I thought... Listen I'm sorry please stop crying now!"
Ruby slips her arms around you, glaring daggers at the Watchmen, who quickly leave. The vendor chuckles a deep, deep chuckle. "Those are very good tears miss! Would you like Kebab?"

An Idea has just struck you! Why doesn't he come with, preparing meals for the people who watch your shows! He wanted to come anyway! "Oh... I do not know if I could leave the city. But I tell you what. Tonight I shall set up a stand for Kebabs outside of the Silver Dragon. If I sell many, I shall be back the next night, and so on. I know the owner, he will not mind. He only serves peanuts anyway!"

Am I the only one imagining this guy as a large, boisterously friendly, bear of a russian man?

It's probably time we get to the rest of the group and discuss housing arrangements.

Fellows... an idea has struck me...
    A wonderful idea.
Ralph obviously loves cooking, yes? Who else do we know who loves cooking? A certain ex-abused Gypsy springs to mind. And Ralph seems to be a VERY kind man.

Your idea has merit, but pushing her seems like it could go sour. She'd do it in her own time, i think.

Later on, we should busk in the fancy district, with the most expensive inn, to see how our skills match what the locals want.

Grue will love Ralph as well, because he too will give him food.
I don't think Zanne will ever love Grue like that, and will probably see him as more of a little brother.

Well now I am! Course, until Bard Quest tells us I won't be sure, because this guy is a reference to a giant black dude from the Halo ODST game.

Ralph scratches his graying beard, a hint of sweat on his light skin. "I believe I shall see you tonight. If you will excuse me, I must pack my stall in and get my cart out." He busies himself with preparing his stall. By this time the sun has started getting low in the sky, just dipping to rooftop level. Time to get back to the Inn, you should have just enough time to talk to the party about housing before it's time for tonight's show.
On your way back, you bump into Faral and Newt, who are themselves on their way back. Entering the Inn, you see most of the party is already sitting around a table. Sitting down, and waiting for Tanot and Kithri to show up, you start to explain that you've found a place to stay, but it will require everyone to pool in. "I thought you were expecting that anyway." Tanot and Kithri shit down across from you, both of them smiling. "Dinner is on my tonight after the show. I unloaded my cargo, and we found a buyer."

Now that Tanot and Kithri are here, you explain what Mr. Pilder told you. You talk about the costs for each house and the pros and cons of having a stable on grounds. And you ask Tanot how much he made, and about the cargo. "Yes, all MY cargo. I had stuff in there that you didn't, and won't, know about. As for Kithri's pipeweed, apparently there isn't a steady stream into the city, it's pretty rare. We got 700 silver for the whole thing. Personally, I say we use that money to get the bigger house."
Tabby nods. "I, as much as I hate to say it, agree with Tanot. We have five horses, a livery would cost us a bundle." Most of the rest of the party agrees.
At any rate, you'll ask to tour the houses tomorrow when you meet with Pilder. You take 500 silver out of the pouch Tanot hands over. You set it aside for the house, and promise to keep it safe. No one is going to pick pocket this!

Alright, time for me to go to bed now. 5:30 AM comes way too fast.
