    http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/11799126/

Cerebrate Anon's brood is on a mission to save the Swarm. Kingston has developed and activated a Psi Disruptor, which has scattered the entire Swarm. It has taken its Psi Emitter technology and gained partial control over some pieces of its Brood, as well as the Cerebrate, Araq.

Labbrate, huddled next to a Psi Emitter, is working to harness Tsinoseng, the mighty Khaydarin Crystal on Aiur, to short circuit the Disruptor, but without a precise location for the Disruptor, it cannot be certain that this is even possible. Three Protoss carriers under Anon's control approach the slaughterhouse that is Char, the location of the Overmind's physical form. If all else fails, Anon knows that a suicidal assault on the Confederacy in its broken state is the only hope.

The Swarm devours itself with every second that the Psi Disruptor keeps it from the Harmony of Control. How shall Anon proceed?

    (Hey! Ten parts! Yay!)

Yeah. I must have missed it when it was on the front page.

Anyway, can the Protoss carriers detect the physical manifestation of the Overmind on their sensors? We need to get it some psionic amplification.

Also, while disrupting the psi disruptor is good, has Labbrate made any progress on psi amplification structures, Zerg strains, or Protoss-Terran machinery?

Not great. We've got three factories producing Psi Emitters, and we're sending them to pacify our troops on Xenta, Besilus, and Aiur, but it's slow going.

The carriers are in low orbit. They have located the Overmind's form, but there are a lot of erratic troops there. We may have to burn away the Overmind's former guardians before we can restore it to the Swarm.

Labbrate is unsure of what to do with Tsinoseng, since we do not know where the Disruptor is.

So far, we have determined that Zerg structures are ineffective at combating the Disruptor's effects. Labbrate could switch back to enhancing the Psi Emitter's output, but it would have to divert that attention from Tsinoseng.

Those carriers have both signed and unsigned psi emitters; the signed ones should allow us to take control of any rogue Zerg that comes into range. We can use them to escort the carriers down, and drop off the unsigned psi emitters for the Overmind to use.

As for Tsinoseng, have Labbrate continue studying the crystal. Can similar kaydarin crystals be used to amplify our psionic presence, acting as psi amplifiers?

Perhaps it is time for the Zerg to harness the Terrans' greatest weapon: SCIENCE!

Ask Labbrate if there's any way to trace the Psi-disruptor's signals. If it's strong enough to scramble Overmind/Cerebrate brain signals, it MUST be leaving some sorta strong psionic trace imprint thing across space. Maybe he can modify the psi emitters to make some sorta tracking device.

These are new quests that started up, and they seem to run every other day. Not much you could have done.

Without a location, we can't disrupt the psi disruptor. Have Labbrate work on other projects, the two primary ones being alternative psi amplification methods and attempting to triangulate the location of the psi disruptor.

    Air drop emitters?

Labbrate thinks so, but finding them without a unified Swarm would be...problematic.

    >>11889119
Labbrate ponders this. If we modified Emitters and positioned three of them sufficiently far apart, we could triangulate the source of the signal.

No, as in, bring a carrier down, escorted by suborned Zerg, to the Overmind. Drones will take some unsigned psi emitters to the Overmind for it to register it's psionic signature. Or we send in the ones with OUR signature...in fact, let's do that first.
As for the other two carriers, have them stay in orbit in overwatch positions. Have their sensors continue sweeping the system.

Have Labbrate do the modifications and begin attempting to find the location of the psi disruptor.

Kerrigan is not within our immediate view. We would need to search for her.

We drop several imprinted Emitters around our landing zone. The rampaging Zerg there come under our control. We land a carrier and begin unloading our free Emitters.

For reference's sake, I am going to refer to the hypothetically modified Psi-emitters as Psi-detectors.

The triangulation part seems to be a sound long-termish plan. It might take a while, but it could be a sure shot. How many planets can we reach from our current bases of control?

Also, not meaning to cram too many suggestions into a small space... but couldn't we just get a fast air/space-traveling zerg unit with a psi-detector to run around in space? If the psi-disruptor is sending out waves of Cerebrate-disrupting psi-signals, then all we'd need to do to locate it is to have a zerg unit with a psi-detector to simply move around a bit in space until it finds a direction in which the psi-disrupting waves come in faster intervals. Kind of like a reverse sonar, if that makes any sense. Could this plan work also?
    >> Cerebrate Anon 08/30/10(Mon)21:41 No.11889335
    >>11889251
Labbrate is unsure if the Disruptor could be tracked that way, but it can try, if we wish.

Try bringing three of registered psi emitters to the Overmind, to see if we can make contact with it.

We can then try sending it the unregistered ones.
Once the Overmind has imprinted itself on the psi emitters, we need to see if Zerg controlled by the Overmind will be able to continue telepathically communicating with us, or if we need to use only one signature to maintain the Zerg Swarm telepathic matrix.
    >> Anonymous 08/30/10(Mon)21:47 No.11889406
    >>11889335

Hmm. The reverse-sonar method might take a really long time if the psi-disruptor is broadcasting from a distant planet/system.

I cast a vote for setting psi-detectors in the triangle formation. We can adjust them later if need be.

We outline a modified version of our original plant to attack Tarsonis, the heart of the Confederacy.
We will first find the location of the Psi Disruptor, then, using Tsinoseng, we will disrupt it ourselves. This will provide us with the window of opportunity, to send one of the smaller broods to secure the Psi Disruptor, so that we may examine it for future defense purposes.
The larger broods will mount their assault on Tarsonis and the Tarsonis Defense Grid.
We will enact our triple-tiered plan, culminating in the nuking of Tarsonis with cloaked nukes if Plans A and B fail.
All of our forces will have psi emitters with the Overmind's signature, in case there is a second Psi Disruptor.

If possible we will also use Tsinoseng to use the Protoss warp network to bolster our offensive in the Tarsonis system.

Placing them at the farthest edges of our reach would be the most immediate thing we can do... but perhaps we can do something better.

First, apologize profusely to the Overmind for inadvertently placing Araq under our control. Secondly, *very* *very* *VERY* humbly and ingratiatingly request if the Great Father of All can remember where the zerg brood started to go rampant first.

The Overmind is probably omniscient as far as most of the zerg brood goes. If we could get a better idea of where the zerg started to run rampant first, that could save us some time in placing the psi-detectors in locations that are too remote to give us a good triangulation.

I would suggest uninhabited systems and the empty space between systems at the edges of Confederacy space.
Avoid inhabited areas; we don't want Kingston getting any indication that we have started to regain control of our Brood.

Continue production of psi emitters, but have them imprinted by the Overmind, and continue recover operations of all rogue Zerg, except for the Antiga system. Kingston likely still has that system under surveillance.

Since more people seem to want to go with the 'Psi Detectors on Planets' idea, go with that for finding the location of the Psi Disruptor.

The overlord enters the system and immediately cloaks. It shuffles, as slow as always, toward Antiga Prime.

As it approaches, almost aimlessly, we find a disturbing picture. Kingston is here. Rather, his Confederacy is here.

Four Terran battlecruisersare hovering over the planet, along with what appear to be dozens of squadrons of wraiths. Dropships travel back and forth from the surface to the two massive Science Vessels in orbit.

The overlord could slip around the range of the Science Vessels and recon the surface if we wished, but the modified Psi Emitter may give it away when activated. Attempt to see what Kingston is up to?

Tempting... but we can figure out what Kingston is doing after we locate (and subsequently overload) the Psi-disruptor.

We may be able to surprise his forces by assuming control of our Zerg forces below him (and possibly inside his ships) before he sets up an appreciable defense.

No, I say recall the overlord.

Here's the changes to the plan that I've got:
We have a 3-pronged attack, scheduled to commence when we disable the Psi Disruptor.

One of the small Broods will go to the planet where the Psi Disruptor is located, to secure it for study by Labbrate. We need to know how they built the Disruptor, so that we can defend against similar weapons in the future.

Jormungandr and Garm Broods will attack Tarsonis, aided by the ZergWorld. They will carry out our triple-tiered battleplan, with the Protoss Carriers using their orbital lasers instead of using cloaked nukes.

A third force will come here to Antiga Prime and recapture it. Kingston will be forced to either send these forces back to Tarsonis, or keep them here to prevent us from recapturing Antiga Prime.

We should consider the possibility of crashing meteors with Infestation spores in order to attempt to subvert the Terran forces here in Antiga.
Has Labbrate completed the high virulence strain of spore?

As we prepare the overlord for another jump, we transmit the voice of one of the Protoss we have back under our sway. We infuse the message with layers of half-formed images.

The message itself is relatively incoherent, babbling that the Protoss must ally themselves with the Terrans AND the Zerg if they hope to, to, losing control, heed my words, brothers etc etc.

We kind of phone the performance in, but the scouts stall as they dissect the meaning and images we've given them. We close the message with a cryptic visual burst of a famous vista of Aiur, coated from beach to mountain with Creep, the air dotted with mutalisks and overlords.

We think they'll enjoy that last part. It's a kind of personal touch.

The overlord jumps away without taking so much as a single round of fire. We jump it about a few times before letting it rest as we activate the Psi Emitter in its folds.

The triangulation begins. Next week, we find the Disruptor and save the Swarm.

    So, what day next week?
Monday, Wednesday, or some other day?
LoliQuest and STALKER Quest 2 don't seem to have settled on a schedule yet.

Wednesday nights I can't start until a little after 10PM EST.

I would suggest everyone name themselves after some kind of cerabrate then...

And do you guys mind if I try to steer us into the direction of only one race, one superpower, all fall under the might of the swarm and bernies rape?

no exceptions. we broadcast his death too.

I think the Psi Disruptor was quite enough. Not to mention the entire Koprulu Sector is now rapidly militarizing against us, and Kingston has developed some kind of technology that either let's him detect cloaked vessels beyond the range of a science vessel or is small enough to put on a transport, or he's developed a psionic detector able to detect our presence in spite of a cloaking field.
The Protoss still have most of their heavy war machines, and any planet they evacuated to is guaranteed to be swarming with their vessels.

true... how are we going to combat this? lets come up with some new zerg strains.

I always liked the idea of cloaked zerglins... or cloaked anything zerg.

Or... put the power of a nuke, and combine with zergling to get something more powerful than a baneling by a magnitude, faster, and less fragile...

    Ultralisk which dies spawns zerglings?

Ultralisk with belly mounted cannon that fires banelings?

    Overlord with mounted guns?

Ultralisk with harness and gausslings ontop as a way of getting around places?

larva with psi emitters built into them? or overlords at the very least.

Man, SCII didn't make any goddamn sense within the narrative.

Suddenly, the Overmind wasn't actually gloating about how much he FUCKING LOVED his quest to eat the Protoss and shit perfection? Now it was something he hated, and he was screaming the whole time?

Somehow, Arcturus went from barely being able to scrape up a goddamn escape pod to get away from the last mission of Brood War to being Emperor again?

All of a sudden, Tassadar didn't really die, and is some kind of ghost haunting the Overmind?

Suddenly, the Swarm doesn't already include the genetic code, memories, technology, and knowledge of 99% of the Xel'Naga, because the second alien beings they ever assimilated into the Swarm was THE ENTIRE GODDAMN SPECIES?

All of a sudden, Arcturus has a 20-year-old son?

I tried very hard not to be an uptight, canon-driven grognard, but it's like they didn't even try. I liked the game as a game, but as a part of the Starcraft universe, I hated it with a fiery passion.

Why would the Xel'Naga even HAVE an uninfestor? I mean, assuming they were all retard prescients who realized they would need an uninfestor, but never asked why their entire race would be extinguished by the time it was used, it still wouldn't make any sense for them to build an artifact that reverses the exact biological processes that make something have Purity of Essence. That's the exact opposite of everything their civilization was hot for.

I haven't played it... but at this point there isnt much of a point to follow any cannon at all.

Hell, we may even want to move to being extra-gealactic, and encounter real SPACHE MAREENS....

    or dem halo dudes.
    or dem asari dudes.
    or dem pokemons dudes.

At least gameplay was designed well from what I saw... though a couple of zerg units could be done better.

Like I said, I loved the game as a game.

I just hated its disregard for the lore.

So I play it like you'd play a fan sequel (or, you know, a 4chan quest thread...), and try to ignore the more blatant contradictions.

Really, the little cutscenes after you meet Valerian are all pretty badass. Even if the plot leading up to them doesn't necessarily hold together.

Also, Artanis shouting "March forward boldly, and without fear!" was happymaking.

You just watched the videos on youtube didn't you? Talk to Hanson after one of the artifact missions and she tells you that the artifacts you are gathering are a few thousand years old, instead of the usual few million years old that every other Xel'naga artifact that's ever been recovered has been. From an archeology standpoint those things are almost brand fucking new. I hate it when people criticize the story without even knowing all of it.

Except how Blizzard made a big deal about how they revised the timeline so the Xel'Naga stuff only happened a few thousand years ago instead of millions.

I'm ok with that (hell, that's much less retarded that retroactively deciding that the Overmind's entire mission that he burned his way across the galaxy for--infesting the Protoss--is LOLIMPOSSIBLE).

    1) Blizzard is not the company it once was and which account for problems 1,2,4, and 6 because they dont give 2 shits about the franchise

    2) It was covered in the books (hardly at all) that adun/tassadar Ascended into a higherplane of existance from using both psi types at once

    3) Valerian is a plot device invented to fuel the retarded story they didnt even try on so dont read into him as being an actual character rather than an outlet for plot movement

sorry that I just did that but You shouldnt have brought up sc2 /tg/
Its a sore spot for me

Valerian is from the novels, they didn't invent him solely for the plot of the game, same with Matt, Tosh, and a few other characters.

Like I said, it's a great game, and if you grit your teeth and remember that the creators have been sleeping for 10 years and imagine that they had to come up with the plot from scratch in an hour-long planning session, then it's an amazing try.

And pieces of it are great. Toppling Mengsk with his own words was fantastic. Jimmy carrying an uninfested Sarah into the sunlight was epic. The sudden appearance of Mengsk's hologram shouting at Valerian gave me chills.

I just wanted them to work within the system they already had.

That's great, but "the novels" shouldn't be able to do shit like invent full-grown children of somebody who's supposed to have lost his entire family as his main motivation for being who he is.

I don't accept that Luke Skywalker can move moons with the Force, I don't accept that Kirk blew up the Borg homeworld with a hand phaser, and I don't accept that Mengsk's biography failed to mention a son who was also somehow completely invisible during his rise to power.

    Call me a purist.

It's called keeping him a secret so his enemies won't try to kill his son to get to him, or hey it turns out the assassins missed one of them or never knew he had a son, or even Arcturus didn't know about him until relatively recently. These aren't exactly new concepts.
