!vf05RX1JTQ 10/02/10(Sat)21:07 No.12304734>>12304567 Escape from the alley is easy. You pull your cloak over your head, and proceed down the street; the crossbow man on the roof is left probably still wondering what's going on. The rest of your journey is completely uneventful, in comparison.
Moving through the thinning evening crowds, you find a stack of crates near where Scinnari and you parted, and sit down on them to wait. After maybe twenty minutes, Scinnari arrives, walking onto the pier to meet you. "Any luck in the temple?" Scinnari calls, approaching and sitting down besides you.
"Nothing significant." you caution, then fill her in. She nods, and comments occasionally, once again exhibiting her natural contempt of priests.
"So, they don't care that she's missing, even considering what happened to her?" she asks at one point, incredulous, "Don't they realize what that could mean?".
Mildly curious, you counter with, "And what could it mean, exactly?"
"Well, I will concede I have no prior experience with such a matter, but... something possessed her for years at a time, something certainly not from the lower plains. Now she's starting to, if her dreams and fractured sleep were any indication, recall fragments of it. It could, for instance, be possible to learn of what possessed her, or how they did it."
"And how likely is that?" you ask, pursuing the point.
"...Not very, I will concede, but they aren't even... Carry on, I am sorry for the interruption."
After you finish, and relate the tale of your encounter on the way here, she, like you, seems to suspect a lead. "And you haven't been to the address?"
"No, I thought it most prudent to rejoin you, and perhaps pursue the chest first." you finish, nodding at the choppy harbor water. A westerly wind has been picking up throughout the day, and it looks like it may even rain tonight. |
