IF THE DOM HAS A CANNON ON IT'S BACK, DOES THAT MEAN THAT IT'S A GUN-DOM? *DIES*.

You are Lieutenant David Lister, ace mobile suit pilot for the Republic of Zeon. You are currently a part of Garma Zabi's honour guard in New York as he meets his girlfirends parents... sorry, that should be "Meet the troops".

Of course there was a bit of a kerfuffle getting into New York as wouldn't you know it, just as Garma Zabi decides to leave California, we happen to get attacked by the heaviest air incursion in the US for three months.

Let's just say we weren't all that suprised when a familiar Zeonic spy knocked on your door and asked for your help rooting out a spy from your ranks.

The following morning you meet back up with Incognito.

The plan appears to be as such: Incognito will be travelling up along with his "specialists" in an APC. Your squad will be a three man unit, no Dom because you'll be travelling by Fat Uncle as will the APC and you'll need the extra space.

Incognito has basically ordered Zolomon with you, but you get to pick the last pilot, as well as the Mobile Suits you'll be taking and armament.

    YOUR ORDERS?

    Loadout:

Zolomon: Custom Gouf - 90mm MG with underslung grenade launcher. 2 reloads. As many crackers and smoke grenades as possible. His 2 heat hawks.

Us: Do we still have our Type A Gouf, or was that returned after we finished with it? If not, go with one of our custom Zakus with the head vulcans, a 90mm MG with 2 reloads, a bazooka or panzerfaust, with as many reloads as possible. No grenades or heat hawks for us. If needed, we can get one of Zolomon's.

Garma: His custom Zaku, or better, a mundane looking one to keep him from standing out. Same loadout as Zolomon. 90mm MG w/ grenade launcher, reloads, grenades.

    Crackers or Panzerfausts?

    >Us: Do we still have our Type A Gouf, or was that returned after we finished with it?

Nope, that got upgraded to the B type, and is now the Zolomon Custom type.

    >If not, go with one of our custom Zakus with the head vulcans, a 90mm MG with 2 reloads, a bazooka or panzerfaust, with as many reloads as possible. No grenades or heat hawks for us. If needed, we can get one of Zolomon's.

Since 90mm only has a 32 round clip/mag how about we up the number of reloads to 6? They take up more or less the same amount of space anyway.

    >Garma: His custom Zaku, or better, a mundane looking one to keep him from standing out. Same loadout as Zolomon. 90mm MG w/ grenade launcher, reloads, grenades.

Don't be silly, you can't have Garma! He's busy today, everyone knows that! Regardless, you have a spare F2 you can outfit for this if you want.

Due to us moving up beam development by 3 weeks, does this mean we'll be seeing the nicer Marine MS sooner? Perhaps not 3 weeks sooner, weaponry isn't the only thing going into a design and especially not without us giving any input on prototypes to hasten things along.

Might make a big difference at Jaburo.

Not to mention what a huge difference getting Gelgoogs a few weeks earlier might make...

Just consider that whatever service unit that spy belongs to its high command might be really pissed off at us for smoking him/her out and intruding on their jurisdiction.

Can we be certain that we're not taking the flak for Mr. Incognito here? We're pretty high-profile while he is really low-profile. People might come to believe that we decided to raid another Unit because we're GARMA'S BALLS BITCHES. Depending on where that spy sits we might just be in the process of shooting ourself in the foot.

Have Incognito fill us in on any useful details. If we can somehow bluff our way in by claiming to be doing a prisoner transfer, we have a better chance of success than shooting our way in with just three mobile suits.

And on that note, we and whoever's in that other Zaku are going to want to ditch and conceal them outside the POW camp. If possible, see if we can get them to do a very basic "activate and walk to this point when you receive a coded signal" routine, or alternatively if we can slave them to Zol's Gouf for that purpose.

While we're waiting, here's an idea for what we should steer Zeon towards unit-wise:

    Combined Arms Production Strategy:
    Ground(Early/Late):
    Special Forces/Close Combat: MS-07B-3 Gouf Custom/MS-18E Kampfer
Multirole Line Infantry: MS-09F Dom Funf/MS-14G Gelgoog
    Fire Support: YMT-05 Hildolfr/YMS-16M Xamel

    Space:
    Special Forces/Close Combat: Space-capable Gouf Variant(Probably MS-07H8 adaptation)/MS-18E Kampfer
Multirole/Line Infantry: MS-09RII Rick Dom II/MS-14Jg Gelgoog Jaeger

FYI there shouldn't be ay survivors at the Gaw, hopefully they all bailed out. Furthermore, there's a SLIGHT radiation hazard chance, it's unlikely that survivors would have wanted to head towards it.

Keeping in a close formation, covering all angles and checking for traps you head towards the crash zone.

You open a contact comm with Zolomon: "Hey, Zol, are you thinking what I'm thinking?"

"I think so Davey, but where will we find a Sick Cat and an Officers Ball around here?"

"... a simple no would have worked. Just make sure that Ruubens doesn't make any out of character mad dashes towards the enemy."

    "Why?"

    "Just do it."

You spot the tanks tracks on the ground a hundred yards or so before the clearing. You carefully sneak ahead, using the microcamera's on your Zaku's fingers.

You can't see anyone, also, it doesn't look like the Gaw's been stripped. You scan for tank tracks, and from appearances it appears that they just did a quick circuit around looking for survivors from the crash and then left.

You check for radiation, you get nothing back. The site's clean.

THE GAW HAS A COMPLIMENT OF ARMS AND WEAPONS SHOULD YOU NEED RELOADS AT SOME POINT.

As you mentioned, there is still the risk of booby traps.

In-universe explanation, the Zaku II frame was very cheap and easy to construct, not the best, but damn cheap, so just stick more advanced bits inside it and voila, much cheaper and still effective grunt suit. The EF always emphasized cost saving and mass production in favor of expensive and experimental gambles in contrast to Zeon.

Real world explanation, Zakus and monoeye MS are easier to identify as the bad guy suits, I'm sure Zeta might have been harder to pick up if the Titan's GM Quells and GM IIs were fighting against the AEUG's own GM models and Nemos.

You report your findings to Incognito, and then follow the broken tree trail. Whilst there are occaisional spots where you almost lose the trail in clearings, but ultimately a trail this big isn't hard to find again.

Following it takes a good couple of hours, at the end of which you find... another hole.

The latter, the trail stops here. You can also several more tank tracks (and tyre tracks too) dissapear into nowhere.

You inform Incognito that you've found a second hole and that you'll be moving to explore.
You cautious step into the giant excavated tunnel, the earth takes your weight.

After all if he really would have wanted to come he have the power to do so whatever anyone says, and him not telling us to that he was planning to come meant that we left half of the squads member behind in vain.

That and tell him that comanders have their role, and a part of that role is to not barge in and do suicide missions, Remind him tha actual combat preformance is not always what decides battle, For example Zolomon is a much better pilot then us, But he lacks the squad management and tacticalskills we have, Meaning he fights less effective despite his superior piloting skills.

Remind him that would he die then he would not only get us demoted, He would get his father and Icelina depressed and make Zeon lose an irreplaceble asset, A good leader.

Tell him to tell us ahead of time next time he tries this so we can be better prepared.

Hmm. That's actually an advantage for us, then; we can melee things to death, but most of the weaponry they're likely to have is going to be a bit high-caliber for use in the tunnels.

Since we don't have a Heat Hawk, better ask Zol to loan us one. He can always go with Heat Rod and one Heat Hawk instead.

If Garma doesn't have a melee weapon either, then he gets Zol's other Heat Hawk and Zol just has to make do with the Heat Rod.

Well I guess it's time for Zeonic Artillery Hour.

As we've all been discussing/meta gaming there are lots of potential ways to defeat the Federation. Something I suggested was making sure that they pay dearly for any attacks on our key positions. Since then I've come up with a plan that will force the Federation to throw an overwhelming number of troops, ships and planes at a point of our choosing. It revolves around leaking intelligence to the feddies of a plan to create a massive siege platform that would threaten Jaburo.

In theory this fixed installation -that I've taken to calling Project Trebuchet- would launch a hypersonic projectile called a Minovski bomb. The minovski bomb is very similar in concept to U.C. Beam weapons. Fusion reactors in the platform would heat and compress plasma which is then contained in a minovski field bubble. The bubble itself is part of the main body of a projectile which will be launched from the 'gun.' There are various ways in which the launch portion could work, but the end result is still the same. The large plasma filled bubble impacts in the general region Jaburo is supposed to be located in. An optimum yield of this device could be as high as 1 megatonne.

To have them evaluate our newtype powers, It should only take a month tops, and we might speed up the development of Newtype equipment.

We just better be sure not to let them give us any "enhancements"...

    Cybernewtypes NEVER end well.
    >> Arty 01/09/10(Sat)19:38 No.7511323

In practice this facility will be fake. All of it an eloborate trap designed to draw out as many Federation forces as possible and wipe them out. If they fail to take the bait we can even arrange a 'test firing' in which we launch a massive magnesium flare or other large light source from the facility. At the predetermined 'impact point' we detonate a Minovski reactor in a manner similar to the Loki particle emitter when we were in Panama.

With such a clear threat the Federation wont hesitate to attack such a site. If our intel people do their job right the Feddies should attack long before construction is complete. The best place to build this thing would be Cuba. It forces the Feddies to coss open water where our subs can wait and causes many other logistical problems.
