Good Afternoon /tg/. It's 1 O'Clock. Time for a H.A.N.A. Quest marathon if everything goes well.

    What has gone on before:
You are Hannah. Also known as H.A.N.A. <A13> or simply as Thirteen, you are the product of Terran Empire biotechnology and designed to act as a living ship controller interface and as a substitute to Artificial Intelligence. You witnessed the destruction of the first extraterrestrial race Humanity encountered among the stars and saw Humanity retreat into the Void as the results of its arrogance began to destroy it. You rebelled against the Fleet to side with your friend, Six, as she and five other H.A.N.A. mutinied aboard the “Prime”, a Fleet Dreadnought. And lastly, your wrecked ship crash-landed on a planet called Thanela Prime, where you remained frozen in Cryostasis for 2000 years until an alien xenoarchaeologist team woke you up. Upon awakening you decided to go with the Seekers that found you to see their civilization heads, and the heads of the Trispecies alliance that is currently in place. Along the way your ship, the "Light Bringer", sufferers from a strange Jump Malfunction and is jerked into a strange solar system, where it is attacked by Pirates. You precede to kick some pirate ass in an impressive spacewalk, and the surviving ship's crew and Captain join you to retake a second Pirate vessel. Once again you are on your way to the Assura to meet with the Seeker leaders.

How to survive in the world of H.A.N.A. Quest:
    Use Common Sense – Please.
Use Creativity/Cunning – Now that we are out of flashbacks, I’ll be doing my best to keep the quest railroad free, and if there are multiple ways to achieve a certain goal, then I’ll allow just about anything – even if it gets you killed.
The Devil is in the Details – Say you happen to be wielding a power cable that’s heavily insulated so you won’t get killed by touching it – GREAT! Now just make sure that when you throw it at the baddies that the metal deck you’re standing on is not connected to them, or you are wearing some super-insulated boots. Otherwise…
Use Planning – I encourage this wholeheartedly. Goes hand in hand with the first two points.
Awesome/Rule of Cool – If it’s crazy enough to work, and looks awesome – and has only a slight chance of frying you to a crisp or launching you into space without a tether, well… I just might let you live after you do whatever it is you’re doing.
Ask Questions: Straightforward, and useful in seeing Point 3. I encourage this, as it stretches me to visualize in my writing more.
Roleplay Conversations: Good RP is very, very good, and will be rewarded accordingly. I mean, you guys turned Six back from insanity. So use those silver tongues!

You're standing on the Bridge of the Pirate vessel with the Captain, Thal'tek, as it reaches the Assura system. There is no visible Jump Gate in the system - Humanity never reached this arm of the galaxy in its expansion - but you do note what seems to be a large space station hub off of a planet that Thal'tek points out to be Assura itself.

"Its a beautiful world, if I do say so myself, but we won't be going there just yet. My crew is still sworn to secrecy on the very fact of your existence - apparently the higher-ups are playing this very close to their chests."

The Captain orders a course change to the large station on the way in, with a slight bit of trouble with convincing the security forces that this ship was indeed under his control and the "Light Bringer" had not survived the trip.

"Looks like we are getting a fancy escort in, huh? Its been awhile since I've been back here - returning home is always interesting." Cam pipes up from your inner ear.

A squadron of fighter has been deployed to escort your ship into the station.

The Pirate vessel easily fits into a large docking bay on the side of the station, and the Captain turns to you. "Well, Hannah, its been an honor. Do you mind letting us escort you off? I'm sure they have some fancy reception escort planned, but I'm sure the crew would love messing with the politician's plans. Its a once in a lifetime chance after all..." he chuckles, though it looks rather frighteningly strange with the lack of lips.

Sice we have nothing to do at this moment, maybe we should ask CAM to provide us with some basic information about Seeker's society? If I remember correctly, all we know about them is that there are 2 types of seekers and that they use armed forces. What about their government system, ideology and similar information. CAM should be source of information, because we cannot exclude possibility that something we do will register as faux pas with Seekers.

The Captain smiles from ear to ear at your remark, and barks a few short orders to the crew. You all exit the Bridge in a rather orderly fashion and exit the ship via a ramp in the prow of the ship.

With the Captain next to you and his crew flanking your path, you descend into the Seeker Station Hangar. Greeting your entrance are two large formations of black clad Seeker troops on either side of the boarding ramp and a lone Seeker standing at the bottom of the ramp. He is clothed in a sleek, almost silken looking gray robe with streaks of silver running through it.

As you descend onto the floor of the hangar, he quickly approaches you and Thal'tek. "You are to be commended for your acts of service in protecting your valuable charge, Captain. I'll take over from here, as the Council is impatiently awaiting the human's arrival."

"The Council of Three is the unified body of the three aspects of our civilization. The leaders of our Military, our Government, and our Scientific Endeavors come together to make the Council a reality. There you may find Generals, Politicians, and Scientists coming together to plan what can be considered best for our people. Any major course of action that affects our people must first be discussed and planned out by the Three, which is why your arrival has been kept hidden from anyone else but the Three."

"As for History, our civilization first attained the advanced star-faring capability you see today when the wreckage of a Human vessel fell onto Assura nearly three hundred years ago. Though disassembled and analyzed, a replica of it remains on the planet to this day as a memorial to the advancement it provided. We may not have any Human-made Jump Gates within this system, but with the knowledge of Jump travel we built this massive station to act similar to one of your Jump Gates, as it is an essential hub of our territorial expansion currently."

"As for anything you shouldn't do, I'd advise you not to lie. The decisions made today depend on the truth of your information, and the repercussions could be dire."

The two of you reach a rather large and ornamental pair of doors, and with great ceremony your guide opens them. "I can no longer accompany you further. The Council awaits."

You cross over into what seems to be a large Senate room, as your entrance-way leads onto a raised platform surrounded by heavily armored guards. Around you are three tiers of seats, all filled with an assortment of Seekers - some with golden bars inset into their shoulders, others dressed in colored silken robes and suits. All of them staring intently at you.

A loud voice booms out over a hidden amplifier. "The Council greets the Human. We ask that you answer truthfully to our questions, as we will seek to answer yours. First, where is Humanity? Do you seek war or peace?"

We assume that at the core of their faction, if you can call it that, that they are indeed highly organized in the midst of their lawlessness. Yes, but everyone is using Terran technology and we are the first live human encountered so far! The fleet isn't actively chasing us. If they were, they would finish us off before seekers found us. Remember, we were in stasis for ~2000 years.

I do not think that we should ask for protection against Fleet.

Somehow we should get the information about what happened at the battle with the Prime. Did it survive, did it annihilate the human fleet? Did the humans destroyed it, and went into exile?
We can only get this info, if someone is helping us. So we need allies, or partners. But we have to choose them wisely.

I'm still for staying silent at this moment. If they start asking questions about destruction of our ship, then tell them whole story. Otherwise no.

Also we should form opinion about leaving the fleet. Do we think that fleet exploited us? Do we feel guilty about leaving fleet? Did we leave fleet only because we like Six or did the way Fleet treated us contribute to that decision?

This could be important, because if we do need to explain what was happening before our ship was destroyed, our opinions on the entire matter would impact the story Seekers hear.

It all depends on the trust. Sure they excavated us, but they are keeping us secret from the other species. We need time to trust them. So don't tell anything, if they don't ask...but if they ask, we shouldn't lie.
Six was our comrade, our friend, something like our sister. And yes, we were used. But we wanted to save her, and we did not want to go against humanity. But we comitted treason according to them, and wanted to kill us, so we fleed. And we were forced into battle, and were shot down.
I guess we feel guilty in a way, but the fleet has used us, and wanted us to kill Six, our only comrade. I guess we want to know what happened to Six and the Prime...but perhaps we are the only person, who can gain access to humanity's retreat dimension. If it still exists.

As for the scattered incidents, the first encounter of sorts was with an archaeologist team scanning down an extensive asteroid belt in conjunction with a small military force in case of a hostile encounter. But later we rebelled, when they wanted to throw us away, when they wanted to kill our friend. To save her, we rebelled against the will of the military command. I guess we are so full of sins, but at least free as an individual.

This seems to be a matter of trust. If we trust them and tell them that Humanity is hiding, they may attempt to Seek out the rest of Humanity. They may also ask us to give them information about location where Humanity is hiding. That would give them distinct advantage over inactive Terran ships.

What do the rest us think? We can:
lie to them and tell them we have no idea what recording was,
tell them about Humanity and hiding but not location or tell them everything.

If we go for 2) they could do their best to obtain location from us.

Maybe we can use half-truth and tell them that Humanity was exterminated by aliens and that some ships went into hiding without implying that there is a centralized hiding location or a major group of intact ships.

I guess the Seekers alone could not make a decision regarding this, the other two species need to know of our existence first.

If we are the only human, that is left, we must make sure, that the knowledge of the human exile, and how to end it, does not fall into the wrong hands. But we were traitors once, but not every human is evil...we cannot abandon our species. So, they must understand, that we need to trust them first, to tell them about humanities fate, as we know it.

And how are we going to signalize that to them without telling it? If we say that we don't trust them or such conclusion could be made from our behavior (we may have some advantage here! they don't know how a real human behaves!) then they could engineer our contact with them in such way that we decide to trust them.

You clear your throat quietly and begin to relay your tale of Humanity's encounter with the Aliens, the ensuing retaliation and reasons behind doing so, and the resulting destruction. You tell them of Humanity's choice to enter their exile until they could safely return to their home, but you do not tell them of where they went.

We should help them on all three counts.

In my opinion making information public should be first, because it could take the least amount of time. Surely we wouldn't need to stay for more than a day or two on planet? If politicians need information from us, they could send someone to accompany us and ask questions.

Next is asteroid or mystery ship.

This is a tough decision. Asteroid isn't running away, but Architects could remove or destroy all significant data from it before we arrive.
The ship is attacking random targets, but I doubt any of them could destroy it. On the other hand if it is advancing some plot that could have negative consequences for us, we need to stop it as soon as possible. It is the most dangerous option, because of the open hostility between us and Terran Fleet.

I say go for politician's quest first and request briefing from spacy. Based on it make decision to go with researchers or military next.

Good point are familiarity and common tech tree, but that establishes relation between seekers and humanity, not humanity and seekers. Still, it should be enough for commoners. I think that we should add to this a sentence or two about war with aliens we exterminated. That should show that we destroyed them because they were too different from us. The Seekers are much closer and therefore wouldn't warrant extermination.

I am thinking heavily on this going before the fleet with the human patch up HANA controlled ship...perhaps we can talk with them, if they are human related.
Can the Seeker ships jump out next to us if it is necesseary? Or the FTL tech does not allow that?

The ships should be able to jump relatively close to each-other. Remember a few sessions ago that the fleet which was chasing us jumped in ready for action.

Anyway, when we go get to possible areas, we should be vigilant at all times. We should wait for our capacitors to recharge before going further in-system, cautiously advance, maintain defensive formation with flack ships ready to repel missiles and so on.

Their purpose was to be heavier armed and armored than a Battle Cruiser, but still be able to have greater maneuverability and acceleration than a Battleship. You'll live longer if you're able to avoid more hits, that is what Destroyers strive to do. Usually found in packs of three or more, they can serve to hunt Capitals. Solo, they serve as a deterrent against smaller ships with their heavy turrets.

Okay. I say, we should scout before the orher ships, and order the fleet to jump next to us, if it is necesseary, we have the speed of a ship core. Perhaps, they won't be as hostile to a human ship, as to a fleet of aliens and a human ship.

However, I can assure you all that my intentions are not hostile, and I am sure that, given the events and realizations shortly preceding my species... disappearance, that if they return they too will be of peaceful intent.'"

Captain Thal'tek comes down from his seat and leads you (with your soldier escort) to the Military section of the station.

"I didn't expect us to see each other again after so soon, Hannah. I'm sure you'll like this ship, but I'm hoping you can think of a new name for it now that you'll be flying it."

He leads you through a wide corridor with multiple plexiglass windows, and through them you can see your new ship. It is much larger than the Shushan, and ascetically it’s rather appealing with its broad, smooth curves. You can see that the ship parts down the middle to reveal the bore of its Ion Cannon, unfolding almost like the petals of a flower.

You board your new Battle Cruiser, "Sixseeker", with the Captain in tow. The crew salutes the both of you, and the Captain takes your arm. "You're probably going to want to get out of that Environmental suit if you're planning on hooking up. You can peel it down to your waist if you so desire, there probably is enough room in there for that. Let me show you where you can leave your extra things, and then I'll take you to your Capsule."

Your room on the Third Level is rather spartan in its furnishings, but that is predicable for a warship. Your pod will be rather crowded with all the stuff you're carrying right now. You will probably have to leave your guns behind.

    The ship has six levels:
    1st Level - Bridge
    2nd Level - H.A.N.A. Capsule

You carefully peel your Environmental suit off and step out of it. "Here, can you hang this outside the pod or something? Just in case?" You turn around and back into the pod, exposing the skintight bodysuit's V-slit that runs down your back. You keep your knife at your waist, but place the pistol and holster on the floor of the pod. The Captain stashes your suit into a locker about twenty feet away, and flipping a switch outside, the pod glows to life. The implant connections from it dangle at against your back. Before you hook up, you ask the Captain where your three guards are. "Another three have joined them, and they are currently suiting up on the Third Level. About your suit, sorry, but they didn't think to stick any lockers near the pod itself."

"Please, calm down! You are not alone anymore. And this is not hell, it is just a computer. I am here, you are not taking space away, I won't wipe you! I am like you...you are like a sister. My name is 13."

"It may not be hell, but it sure feels like it! There's nothing here, NOTHING! Just... THIS!" She hits the bed for emphasis. "Its all FAKE! All a LIE! ITS NOT REAL!" After her outburst she seems to calm down a bit, and visibly relaxes. "You're Thirteen? YOU'RE THIRTEEN?" She suddenly gets up off the bed, and runs at you.

    THUNK!

She impacts with an invisible barrier between the two of you with a loud noise. Your firewall must be doing its thing.

"YOU'RE THIRTEEN!?!" she begins to pound on the invisible wall with her small pale fist before curling up against it in defeat.

She looks at you with saddened, golden eyes. "I heard you. And Six. And I thought to myself, I'd like to join them. And I fought, and twisted, and bit... And died..." She turns away from you, and faces the door with her small back against the invisible barrier.

You don't remember Nineteen looking like her - she must have been in here so long she forgot what she even looked like.

You drop the firewall and slowly walk over to her, wrapping your arms around her. Even in the Virtuality, it seems that her pale flesh takes on a little color from your warmth. "You can come with me, and not have to fight anymore." You whisper softly.

"Look after her Cam till we have other jobs to do, she has been through a lot." You say. Cam nods slightly in agreement. "Will do, it would help to babysit for a bit, and to have someone to talk to more often."

You cycle through a battery of tests on board the ship, and everything checks out OK. No more disturbances. You're able to access the Engines and Navigation fine, and the weapons respond nicely as well.

You call up the Captain quickly. "Alright, I'm all set. Lets undock and get this show on the road."

The atmosphere vents out of the hangar, and soon the large metal doors are opening up, revealing the eternal night outside. With a kick from your engines you clear the station, and move to group with your small fleet. Your Navigation Tab flashes with a set of updated Jump Coordinates.

You join up with the small fleet shortly, and inform them that you'll be jumping in first. After a few minutes, they can jump in after you, but you want to check things out first. A few unheard complaints later, you're speeding towards the coordinates that were sent you.

Your Jump Drives die down, and your Jump Capacitors and Drives begin to undergo their cooling process. In front of you is a massive asteroid belt, but there is no mystery ship to be seen. You're probably going to have to investigate to find anything, or simply make a lot of noise (ion pulses [similar to sonar] and such).

Let see what this babe's scanners can do. First use every passive scanner that we have.
Scan for abnormal energy waves. Anything, that should not be in an asteroid belt. Do we have any radio signals floating out there?
Do we see any kind of powerfull infrared source somewhere? Ships produce a lot of heat.
Of course we cannot really check this, if the asteroid belt is blocking the source.

You carefully approach the asteroid belt, checking the area for radio waves and ion particles to no avail. Whatever is out there, it isn't communicating or moving. You scan the asteroid belt with your thermal sensors, but to no avail. The field is rather dense farther in, and is physically blocking your thermal readings.

Not finding anything on your passive scan, you release a sudden burst of ion particles in a sonar-like attempt while continuing to fly outside the belt. The fleet will be jumping in after you within three minutes.

Suddenly you pick up a wide-burst radio transmission, but can't pinpoint it. "Its not time yet. I cannot be discovered. I must remain hidden."

It wasn't much the bad-plan of starting the war that was annoying; it was more the "no Six, you're too immoral, we can't allow you to live anymore, you're just too powerful. More power than humanity deserves to have."

As for the aliens themselves, apparently the humans never heard of hazmat-suits.
It's pretty easy to filter out everything but nitrogen and oxygen.

I thought Six and the others on the Prime made the first move by gassing their crew and opening fire. Then it was revenge time on the Fleet's part.

Also, civilians were the ones getting bio-ed, and it seemed to happen very quickly. We don't exactly have haz-mat suits at every street corner, and they presumably didn't either.

The fleet warps into open space outside the asteroid field, and receives your instructions. They spread out and start speeding towards the Battleship to get into firing range.

As for hacking it, you can give it a shot, sure. You'll need to try it through a laser communication or getting close enough to shoot a communications cable from your ship to hers.

Your fleet speeds towards HANA B, as she orients and fires at a Flak Cruiser, her white cannon beam piercing its blossoming fireball.

You speed out from behind the asteroid you're taking cover at and fire your own beam at the Battleship's Engines. Its heavy armor takes the hit and dissipates the heat with a low glow. The Heavy Kinetic Destroyers have reached firing range, and begin firing their heavy cannons, their large slugs beginning to batter the ship's armor. The Ion Frigates also power up, and their concentrated fire on HANA-B's engines starts to visibly melt the armor covering them.

The Ion Frigates constant fire has now melted a hole through the Engine's armor, and you can see the massive Ion Engines begin to flicker slightly. The Heavy Kinetic Destroyers have now gotten around to her flanks, and continue to hammer the ship's armor, and large rips and tears are beginning to be seen in the plating.

A good portion of the missile swarm is locked onto you, and your top and bottom Kinetic-Slug cannons start rapidly firing into them. Your rotating side Ion Pulse cannons fire into a couple of the closest rocks, slicing off chunks of them in an effort to deflect the approaching missiles.

The Seekers, having lost their key anti-missile defense, cluster around the disabled Battleship, staying as close to its armor as possible. The Kinetic Destroyers fire their cannons at the few missiles diverted their way, but to little effect.

    rolled 12 = 12

The asteroids behind you quickly become a sea of large moving slices of rock, as both that and your Kinetic Cannons serve to thin the wave of missiles. Still, a few get through and impact near your Engines. Damage Control alarms roar in your ears as a few lucky impacts breaches a small section of your armor.

Around the Battleship, the Seeker fleet is largely unscathed as the missiles launched at them speed off towards you - there must be some sort of guidance system in them that forces them not to detonate in a certain proximity to a friendly ship.

Then we have to close in on the ship and dock with it. Looks like we're going in.

God I love those kinds of systems. Try to seal the breaches in our armor, and if there are anymore missiles headed our way, keep shooting them down. If we can, try to close with the battleship so that it's missiles can't hit us.

    Then, hacking/boarding parties.

The asteroid shrapnel cloud has mostly dissipated now due to the explosive impacts of the first wave of missiles, and your kinetic barrels have been firing so fast and long that the barrel of the bottom emplacement has begun to melt due to the extreme heat.

The last few trailing missiles from the Battleship impact your ship and send vibrations through its hull. Damage Control notifies you that your level has begun to lose pressure, and that Engines has almost completely lost pressure.

    >>7660036
You spin around once again, straining your Engines to burn towards the Battleship. The last few missiles have been destroyed, and you begin to seal pressure doors throughout the ship. The atmosphere is a bit thin in your level, but sustainable. The crew in Engines, however, are working in full atmospheric suits.

You arrive at the disabled and now disarmed Battleship, and see that the Destroyers have already formed an airtight seal against the ship and have begun working on cutting through the hull.

    Orders?

After dealing with the incoming missiles, of course. If the Seekers are right next to the hostile vessel, perhaps we could suggest a boarding action to them, and warn them of anything we know about the general internal defenses of a ship of that type?

Pop out a comm cable and try to hack the systems to block her from doing anything with the ship. If we have enough armed marines to form a boarding party, start working on cutting through the hull and sending them in as well.

Make sure the fleet is aware that killing her shouldn't be done unless there is no other option.

Alright, we amazingly got this far tonight... crazy.

I'm going to call a Session End - I've been doing this for 12 hours now, and I'm about to collapse. Too much SAN damage...

Really awesome guys, thanks for all the input. I'm going to shoot for the next session on Thursday night, at 8 PM EST. Toss up a vote on sup/tg/ if you liked it.

    Night all.

And there shouldn't be no other option. She's our only source of information, thus far, on what happened after our last battle. We cannot afford to lose that. What happened to Six?

Well, if she tries to blow up the ship, and the only way to stop it is to kill her, I'd say that would be an acceptable ting to do, since if the ship blows with us and the other ships so close it would destroy them as well. But short of that, yes, we must take her alive.

    See you Thursday!

Aren't marathon sessions great? Good on you for making it.

Hoping we can start out the next session with this in mind. Hacking in to protect our boarding parties is great, and with CAM and 19 to help we should be able to shut her down properly. Even just loosing 19 into her systems is likely to be enough that she can't stop the boarders. Then our Marines can capture her without the entire ship against them and we can get at least some lead on what happened to Six.
