The other, minor characters in this story who were not present during the murder: Georgia Peach, a childhood friend of Boddy's who looks up to Prof. Plum. Came to the mansion after hearing about the murder. Was uncomfortable around you, but you seem to have won her over.
A man named Brunette was sneaking around the mansion, claiming to have broken in during the confusion and hoping to steal some antiques. You believed his story and let him go.
And now we can resume.
You and White are in the library, where the blood and signs of violence indicate the murder took place. Miss Peach has just entered, looking for Prof. Plum. Upon seeing the blood, she began to cry, and you comforted her. After she calmed down, you spoke of the mansion's hidden passages.
"Now, what's with all these secret passages, anyways?" you asked. "Mr. Boddy always had a flair for the dramatic, but this seems a little silly."
"We don't know what the passages were for," replied Peach. "We used to play in them as children, though. The Professor says he has a theory, but he's never told me."
"That's because it's a secret," said Professor Plum as he walked into the room. "Like so many things about this mansion."
"Oh, Professor," you said, "you're not dead. What a surprise."
"Miss Scarlett, please do not be rude. I know it's impossible to resist, given your station, but there is no need to insult me. Now come here, Georgia. We should be leaving; I'll take you to your home where it's safe."
Miss Peach refused. "I don't think I want to, Professor. I want to at least be here when they take his body away."
"They? They who, child? No one is coming. Don't you think the police would be here by now, if they were coming at all? They probably think it was another one of Mr. Boddy's stunts for attention." |
