Well basically, the last thread to be archived was when my character trespassed in the royal palace (in Spain) while That Girl was away with the party. The intent was to steal her baby, which my guy managed to do, but in trying to escape things got complicated. He had to duck into her actual room, and while he was there found some real disturbing shit. He didn't have time to stay though, so could only flee in horror at what he'd seen, finding a secret way out of the palace.

Once out he was able to meet up with friendlies in the city, and slowly but surely they made their way out of the country, with the baby. Now the idea was that, That Girl never really cared about her baby, she only used it as a status thing, so with it missing things might be troublesome but nothing more really.

Well we were dead wrong, she got back and flipped shit. Almost immediately she set out on a warpath, tearing her way across Europe looking for us, the party assisting her along the way. Eventually we realized we misjudged her, and realized there was only one solution now, if my guy wanted to stay alive.

    We had to seek Nemo.

The original idea was that with her baby out of the way she'd be troubled at home with her in-laws, and we could retreat further North-East, join up with the gypsies and live full-time with the magic side of the world, working with them and increasing strength, etc...

It was clear that would simply not work though, so we needed to get out. Get somewhere she could not reach us. The only viable option, that allowed for advancement of the plot was Nemo, so we had to try and seek him out. All the while That Girl hot on our heels, relentlessly hounding us with likely a murderous rage.

I should like to think my guy lucked out, simply because of his involvement in detaining the Outsider made him at least of some interest to the Inventors. Or otherwise, they likely would neither have cared, nor responded to our requests. I suppose though with the past experience, and in possession of their greatest mainland rival in the world's baby, they figured my guy was at least worth talking to.

My character and some friendlies, who were helping him with things. Such as getting into Spain, etc...

As for morality compass, I don't think that was ever an option, even if she requested it. Not that it wasn't possible, and she may have been telling the truth, but back in the old advice threads, the majority of people were against having anything to do with her so that's the role I took.

    >>14550606

Yes but he has agents on the mainland to see how the rest of the world is doing, and every so often one of the Inventors shows up for trade or diplomacy.

    Darn, that's a shame.

Also- please don't tell me you thought stealing her child was your idea. That would out of most probability be a common crisis for all the crowned heads of Europe, such that it would make them pull together when presented with such a unifiable enemy.

Anyway so, blah blah blah, we're looking to make contact with the Inventors, all the while being driven more and more into a corner by That Girl until we're pinned down in France (doing a grand loop around the continent and ending back at the country adjacent to where we started).

This whole process takes months, but eventually contact is accepted, and to our amazement, they seem sympathetic to my guy's situation and agree to ferry him out of Europe at least, once the next Inventor arrives for their interactions with the mainland.

This won't be for another 2-3 weeks though. What ensues is a game of cat and mouse with That Girl trying to track us down and us frantically moving from place to place within France. She's got the Frenchies assisting her in our capture, so it's all the more difficult. A good thing our little group had various backgrounds to accommodate our hiding, though doing so with a baby wasn't easy. Finally it's something like 3 days left and we're in a coastal town, unable to continue without risk, and she knows we're there.

It was not my idea, but one that was highly suggested so I felt obliged to follow it. I could walk again so I was feeling pretty bold anyway. You're right though in assuming it started a cluster fuck.

As stated, we'd figured that with the baby gone, from there on to the royalty she would only be an outsider, some German tramp who exited only to carry children. And I imagine for a time, that was the idea many had in their minds.

I think any such doubts were dissuaded though when she returned and immediately set out with a vengeance to find "her" baby. Even if she wasn't really one of them, she was serving their interests. And so as you said, not just Spain, but several nations were in agreement with her motives of finding us. So she was allowed to work with Interpol of the time to hunt us. And it made sense, as Europe is increasingly more like a powder keg ready to blow, simple conflicts could illicit World War, so something like a missing heir to the throne was naturally prone to cause turmoil.

In that sense I suppose it made sense for That Girl's motives; she wasn't after us to save her baby. She was after us because we were undoing her efforts at making peace. Just an assumption of course, but it's always been assumed she never cared much for her baby. She's openly admitted before how she can't stand to be around it, and becomes physically ill at seeing it. Guilt I suppose...

As stated, the Frenchies were on her side, so the coastlines were being watched. One of our little ragtag group tried to save his own skin that way and it ended badly for him.

    ---

Anyway so what ensued was the three days spent in the coastal town, doing our best to avoid attention and capture at the hands of the authorities and That Girl. I'd say this portion of the game was likely the most intense and roleplay-heavy we'd had in a good while, perhaps since the Formal Ball. Ducking into alleyways or sewers, avoiding attention and other people. One by one our little group slowly got caught or picked off.

Worst of all, that That Girl was actually there, we'd seen her a few times in passing. Sickening in the way she carried herself, outwardly kind and helpful, charitable and generous to everyone, she soon had the love of the town and those that worked for her. But when she caught a suspect, you watch her turn as cruel and brutal as one would expect of her. I can say I didn't envy those of our group that faced her.

Something else though that made things all the more difficult, another presence in the forces looking for us; the Nun.

As stated in the last thread to be archived, while escaping the palace my character fled into That Girl's room, and in locating a secret way out of the place, stumbled across some horrific shit. From what it looked like, she had all the people I'd believed she'd killed (all the former PCs in the game that she'd supposedly done in), actually alive and preserved, in some cases being healed. Using Nemo tech she'd kept them on ice the whole time while we'd thought she'd killed them all.

By that discovery, it was clear she'd only ever killed two people, the repulsive first husband she'd had, and the young Prince on whose life she'd rode to power, so to speak. Naturally, it completely changed the game, pretty much everything.

And that was what we were faced with now, the Nun character whom had previously been my guy's best bud as well as secretly in love with the deceased young Prince. She was alive, and working, walking alongside That Girl in hunting us. The problem was, she knew my guy best, had worked with him professionally, so knew the sorts of tricks I'd use and things I'd do to avoid capture.

Nope, the same Nun from before, the only other character along with my guy, and That Girl to have stayed alive and in-game, the whole game. As discovered, the other PCs were actually still alive, but they had been kept in containment for whatever purpose, while the Nun had survived up until our little failed plot to kill That Girl, and clearly had not only been allowed to remain active but had been healed.

    >>14551115

Anyway so, it was the eve of the day after when the pickup was scheduled (they were fucking late, wouldn't you know it?) and it was only me and the baby, and like 3 other guys. We were holed up in an attic of some inn, trying to lay low while shit went on all around us. The others figured they'd head out and see about the late pickup and maybe scrounge some supplies, I just stayed with the baby.

Who should I encounter but the Nun, who knew exactly where I was. She didn't raise the alarm though, she seemed to want to talk so I obliged. It was some heavy shit that went down, I questioned how she could be doing what she was, why she was, what had happened to her, etc...

She seemed adamant though that That Girl had her shit together, and was the best hope for the world at the time. Plus when she'd been shown that That Girl hadn't killed all the people we thought she had, she was able to settle her animosity towards her.

I decided to show her the baby though, the only thing on the earth left over from the person she loved. This hit her hardest, and she cried for a good bit. In the end she admitted that she would never truly forgive That Girl, but she had to support her in what she did lest the world burn. She said though that once the job had been done, she'd gladly kill That Girl herself.

Some other conversation, and I asked why she was here. She said this was it, and she would no longer let us slip by. Tomorrow she'd have the force seeking us with her, she'd give us one more night to make peace with ourselves and whatnot before she left.

So that was it then, there was no hiding from her if she'd been keeping the enemy from finding us the whole time.

The other two sympathize with my guy but admit there's nothing they can do, perhaps if they turn him over they'll get off lighter. Next day though we don't get a wake-up call, in fact it's the baby that wakes us up.

We find, damn near the whole town is gathered at the port, where an Inventor submarine has arrived, bearing goods, trade, tech, and envoys. This was it, they were here and it was our chance out. At least, in theory.

Naturally That Girl, though caught off guard by the unexpected arrival of one of Nemo's ilk, did not intend to let us slip past her.

I went with the magic side, and they were able to find something to fix me up. Fixed my spine at least, they couldn't regrow my arm though. I imagine though now heading to Nemo, it might complicate things, having been healed with magic.

    >>14551455

So quite frankly we made a mad dash for the port, to try and find a way on the ship. There we found most of the force that had been tracking us, more preoccupied with the new vessel rather than us. That Girl was clearly visible, displeased that she now took a backseat to the Inventor. She was trying to organize some of the force to head to our supposed location, was told to hold off on it for now, so she switched gears trying to get the Inventor's crew to deal with the authority force, get the process moving faster.

That was our chance though in heading through the huge crowd gathered. It looked to be rather simple, given that all we would have to do was reach the vessel, heck we could even have jumped into the water and swam to it and we'd be fine.

The Nun though expected us, and was not distracted like the others were. She was waiting for us in the crowd, and upon meeting us gave a sorry look of disapproval before notifying That Girl. That was all it took and immediately she was after us like a thing possessed.

The guards knew roughly where she was, if she didn't return they'd know we were in that sector/street of the town. She agreed to hold off until the next day so really the only thing seemed to let her go. I had always trusted her before so I figured I could rely on her one last time. Which she at least kept her word to.

    >>14551552

If the guards weren't going to help her, indeed if no one was going to help her, then she was going to settle things herself. And so That Girl was after us, bounding through the crowd and tossing people aside like ragdolls. Naturally we started booking. We were a good ways away from her, but we had to push past people while she was moving like they weren't even there. Plus the Nun tried to subdue us too, but had difficulty in the crowd.

Eventually That Girl gets close enough where she's able to show off new augmentations she'd received. Using her arm I believe she lets fly these metal bolo-type things, casting people aside and wrapping them up. She's able to catch one of us that way, while the other she hurls a large piece of road at. Each of us she captures, she uses her arm to pacify, from what I understand driving a poisoned barb into their spines like a rivet.

All that's left is my guy and the baby, and she now knows that's how it is.

That was the idea, it was some magic entity that allowed the ritual to take place. And indeed, after stealing the baby the intent was to retreat into that world and reside there in safety until the time was right to return. As stated though we were cut off from that option by a vengeful mother.

That doesn't rule magic out of the equation though.

    >>14551643

We reach the edge before the water, some set up gangplanks before us connecting to the vessel. The guards are on this part though monitoring things and while they were unwilling to help before, with me right there they were in a position to act. With That Girl as well right behind I figured this was it.

Clutching the baby tight, I pretty much shoulder tackled the closest guards off into the water. With much difficulty (one arm DEEERP) I managed to make way to the side of the vessel, while the guards simply tried to get out, and That Girl could not follow (lest she sink and drown).

In reaching the side of the vessel I was about to be quickly executed by the Inventor crew on board thinking I was some commoner or spy or something trying to get on board. However the officer on deck at the time stayed them when hearing and seeing the baby. After some delay while they deliberated, we were hoisted aboard.

Of note some of the French guards prepared to open fire on my guy, but That Girl gave them the old pretzel treatment, not wanting "her" baby to be killed.

So we had made it, there was some scuffle between the French and vessel crew, but things were brought back under control. For the moment we could breathe easy, answer questions and identify ourselves to the crew while That Girl stood on the docks not 50 feet away watching. She tried to board herself but was repelled in a fashion that could be described as a phenomenal bitch slap, so eventually she disappeared for a bit.

Finally I was able to establish who I was to the crew, with the Captain agreeing to his part of the bargain. He was worried about what happened to the others that were supposed to be coming, but I informed him they couldn't make it. He says though that we're safe at least now, and while we will remain here for a day or so to attend to their business, we could remain in safety and then the vessel would depart with us back to their home.

It seemed at last, we had finally escaped the clutches of That Girl, for good. No matter how hard she tried or wanted, she could not reach us. Us, being myself her former greatest friend and now potentially biggest threat, and the child she bore through murder.

As had been customary during the interim, That Girl had remained mostly like a hawk, watching us. However this time she had some of the guards with her, restraining some people. It seemed odd that That Girl did not want to be seen by the captives, despite them having sacks over their heads.

When she saw me on the deck though pulling out, she gave a signal with a smile, stepping behind cover. There bound and in captivity was my character's family, his mother and sister and brother in-law. He was able to see them, and they him, only visual confirmation, before they were put in the dark once more and carted off by the guards. That Girl stepped up once more, working something with her arm. It looked like she was pointing at us, but rather her whole arm.

I was stupid for not expecting her to fire something at us. A large barbed spike almost like a harpoon, damn near turned my guy into a shish-kabob, even injuring the baby in the process.

    We were helped by the crew, and the vessel went into dive to avoid further problems, but in being treated we found a note along with the barb, in simple writing clearly hers;

"Take care of my family and I will take care of yours."

Anyway so that's where things more or less wrapped up. The last game ended with my guy and the baby recovering, getting to know these strange Inventors and their wondrous vessel, while seeing Africa for the first time as we approached the northern coast.

Apparently we are en-route to the Inventor nation, and Nemo. Our transporters are very hush on all that though, especially the trouble they've been having in the Pacific.

Either way, that's where we are; although not with the magic side of the world and working towards a magic end, we are free of That Girl and her schemes, headed to a new life, and new portion of the game/plot/setting.

That's what I made the other thread for last night, asking how people would and could remove Cthulu from the world, as that is assumedly the problem the Inventors are having. It would probably be smart to have ideas on how to help the Inventors before we actually get there.

    I couldn't! I tried but was thwarted!

I can now only hope she does not do anything to them, as I damn near jumped off the vessel as it was leaving to swim back and save them. Only the baby, and assurance of certain death if I did kept me from doing so.

Knowing her they'll likely suffer horribly, however her reluctance to be seen by them makes me believe that she still wishes to remain in good graces with them. I don't know, it's all complicated and hard to think about.

If she was willing to injure her own son, I fear what she may do to her enemies family.

Probably not much will happen to your family. Or she'll kill them. One or the other really.

As far cthulu- well, cthulu should lay sleeping in Ryl'ya until the stars are right. Only when the stars are right may he exert his influence into the world above, his tendrils breaking into the minds of the weak and asthetic, inspiring them to work towards freeing him from his living tomb.

... and then a bunch of swedes show up and drive a steamboat right in cthulus face while he's still drowsy.

From what we've seen in the game, Nemo and his ilk posses the kind of strength enough to hold their own against the rest of the world. Even now whenever they show up somewhere, they're pretty much calling the shots.

Plus from what I saw firsthand, the vessel I'm on currently isn't even that good of one by their standards, yet had the kind of weaponry enough to basically make That Girl look like a spoiled kid with some pretty toys.

Currently I believe she has the capability to take on a train, and yet charging at the vessel enraged and at full strength she was repelled like a fly being swatted away. Such that, she eventually had to give up trying and could only watch from onshore.

Even a small portion of the Inventors potential seems capable of besting her, so even that much should be able to.

I think though if she wanted to kill them, then she wouldn't care if they knew it was her who was doing it, but clearly she did.

as for the problem, well I think the way things are, the Inventors while creating their nation, and combing the Pacific for resources stumbled upon something. Some sort of power/calamity that is enough to hold them all at bay and even encroach upon them.

The only thing I know of it for sure, is what we learned from the Outsider.

One of the Inventors that while combating the "problem" was captured by it, only to emerge later fighting for it. She took out her anger and displayed some unknown new power by wrecking Europe's shit.

Back when the group (my guy, That Girl, the Nun, others) were all one big happy family of a group and whatnot, we helped pacify the new threat.

I don't think it's the same kind, that's the thing. The Outsider brandished a different kind of power, more in agreement with the natural world. Such that even things like common animals joined to assist her. She attacked people using technology and magic alike.

The kind my guy is familiar with, is the sort that is used by people and beings, rather than the kind that comes from the Earth. I mean it may have stemmed from there, but apparently it is corrupted or something when people use it.

Yes, I suppose it is something like that. She wielded water control as something of a latent ability, on top of the destructive magic.

Either way, the intent was to cripple the Inventor's greatest source of supplies, and as a personal agenda she targeted England specifically.

Of note she had these cultists that worshiped the thing with her. They were not familiar to her though, apart from her, her whole crew were mutated and changed, while these strangers appeared normal.

So let me get this straight, The Outsider was one of Nemo's inventors who was captured by the "thing" Nemo is fighting. After emerging later, she had mystical nature powers. I have a question, lets say Nemo decides not to give you tools to fight that girl for whatever reason, would you be willing to team up with what he is fighting in order to gain the power to fight? Is that a viable option? As things stand now, what are the worst case scenarios for your current situation.

People suggested that before, rather than going with the magic side, tech side, or with Nemo, instead heading to England and freeing the Outsider and working with her.

As for teaming up with the thing, I think that would likely lead to me becoming the BBEG of the game. With two persons in the world like the Outsider (the original and me), there is not a force that could stand against. It took much of the world to take down the original in the first place.

As for Nemo, I'm almost certain that with this threat out of the way he would help me, given that, That Girl would be the only thing stopping him in the world. Even if I wasn't there and he got rid of the threat on his own, she would be his next target anyway.

I think the worst case for me is if That Girl kills my family, and upon arriving at the Inventors haven, my character simply becomes a citizen or something, a sidelines and unimportant character. The worst thing for the setting would naturally be World War I breaking out, however That Girl seems to be completely capable of stopping that on her own. The only downside is if she makes herself the ruler of the world in the process, in whatever way. Alternatively, I assume that the very worst thing to happen would be if Nemo and his lot are defeated by the problem, because then literally the whole world would be overpowered by whatever the thing is, with the Outsider sitting atop the metaphorical wave that washes over everything. I could get in on that action, but clearly I would probably become akin to the BBEG.

Err... I know which end the food goes in and which end it comes out.

The baby is relatively fine though. He's recovering from the injury of the harpoon, but all in all I think he's fine. There's a doctor or three on the crew, I think we're in good hands.

The thing I'm worried about is if they decide to separate us at any point. I took the baby to keep it away from his mother, and as obligation to his deceased father. The Inventors instead though, might see it as leverage over That Girl, or even as something to study.

That Girl doesn't know it, but she herself is magically *very* powerful. Or she was, until she started gearing herself up and did away with it. However at the time when she carried the baby she had relatively few augmentations, and the way in which the baby was conceived makes it a conduit for magic and emotions. Essentially, from what I understand, in having the baby, That Girl passed on all her magic capacity to it, in addition to it being something of a nexus for magic.

Naturally the Inventors may find this to be useful.

Even if she's really only guilty of one death in the world, she personally wronged me. Not just me, she betrayed the lot of us, and just because she's able to convince the others that she's doing right, hell even if she is doing right, it doesn't change the fact of what she did. Justice must be served, or I'm no policeman.

That, and what she may be doing is sound for the world, it's hard to imagine that she's doing it out of the goodness of her heart. Even if she really is as kind, loving and selfless as she appears to be, the fact remains that she's being exalted because of it. It's just too easy for her to put herself in a position where she's ruling over world, even if it is through goodness and love.

And as stated, having history go the way it should and head to WWI, despite horrendous immediate consequences, in the long run is probably the best thing. I mean, better than an Empire with an Empress atop a throne of lies, a complete return to magics and the old ways, or having the world wiped clean by some eldritch horror.

I personally could see things go anyway at the moment, I'd still like to give it some more progression in-game before deciding anything.

    Hooray, you're back!
If this thread has shown you anything, it is that people actually care about your antics.
You really should tell us when to expect your next threads.
I for one really enjoy reading about your game and giving advice, even though I haven't been here since the fifth thread or so.

So if I'm reading this right, you expect that you will be making at least a stop on the American continent?
Then you should try to set up meetings with all the different mystics America can offer.
Just of the top of my head I can think of Native American shamans and Voodoo priests from Louisiana or Haiti.

Africa would be just as good for magic I guess.
Actually, it would be even better. That's some old and powerful magic I would think. As in "Dawn of Mankind"-old and powerful.

If the Inventor won't let him make side trips, then okay, he can wait until they meet Nemo.
If Nemo also takes away the kid, cut your losses and go on a magical world tour!
Learn ancient magic from every corner of the globe!

Even if OP is siding with Nemo, that shouldn't mean that he should stop learning magic.

    Holy shit. Holy shit!
It fits the story archetype doesn't it?
    - Little baby prince is abducted from the crib.
    - Is raised by a group of people with no paternal bond to the tyke
    - He has great magical potential

DP, in your dream you are the bad ass mentor. It's you.
Take care of the kid. Learn all the magic you can, so you can teach it to the kid yourself when he is older. Never tell him that he is a prince until he is ready. You should still tell him some about his mother though. Tell him enough to know that his mother is not a nice lady.
Involve Nemo, if only so he can give his backing to the boy.
Also, fill his head with thoughts about a unified Europe. A unified Europe on your and Nemo's terms.

Then, when he is ready, set him loose on Europe. The prodigal son returns, bearing great power and commanding the armies of the New World, he is here to return order to the Old World.
This stuff is the stuff stories, legends and fairy tales are made of.

    >>14557166

They baby is certainly magical, if it got even a fraction of what his mother had then he'd be a formidable power. From what I understand he inherited/leeched EVERYTHING from his mother, while at the same time not being hindered by, or an anathema to technology (being that she was already a cyborg while carrying the baby).

There's no doubt the baby has potential. Whether That Girl realizes it or not (probably not), the means by which she made herself pregnant, was something of a perfect storm of potential.

On the magic side, the mother carries ludicrously high magic but is a cold, cruel, ambitious woman. She carries a stolen name and is cursed utterly. The father is a religious young boy, a pure soul with never an impure thought or action in his life. He carries a royal name and had never been with a woman. Each of them loved another, and the act itself vile and without feeling. Coupled with the sheer negative force pervading the scene of said act, culminating with the murder of the father, *by* the mother. The whole thing itself, was a magical ritual unknowingly caused by her own body/potential, and perpetuated by all the details about the scene.

And then there's the tech aspect, of being carried till birth by a cybernetically augmented individual, her body would have rejected the baby had it not been her own magic passed to it. And so it grew to be accustomed to technology, and upon being born was raised in a technology-preferred environment.

This is pretty much a summary of what the DM did, basically went down a checklist, citing all these things and finally concluded that in this child was something that the world had never seen before. To quote, what a fool That Girl was seeking only power, yet right before her the whole time was potentially the greatest power of all, and her own son to boot. I bet if she found out, she'd be kicking herself for neglecting him.

DP has several GMs, so first he should ask around and talk to everyone to make sure that they all define cybernetics as foreign objects in a body.

Then wait for a while, before telling the GM that you want to research a new magic spell/power.
Present it to the GM as a healing power that heals living flesh and hurts the undead, as well as damages and expels foreign objects from the body.
In the conversation with the GM, focus on the power's healing and anti-undead uses. However, I would also make sure that the "damages and expels foreign objects" is written down, so nobody can call bullshit on that part later.
Tell the GM that it is for when you inevitably join the others again (technically not a lie).
It will give you a healing power and make you very useful in a group, which will without doubt be very attractive to them at this point.

Rule 0 will stop Hamon from outright destroying her cybernetics, but if she has to roll a d20 whenever she touches you, or her tech disintegrates, she will without doubt think twice before tangling with you.
Combine this with some kind of shield magic that nullifies most projectiles, and you have pretty much shut her down.

From standard shamanism practiced by most tribes, to the blood magic practiced by the Aztecs, there is a lot of cool shit there for you to take advantage of. Hell you could even become some sort of pulp hero. Just imagine stories being written about your character, a loner with a child gathering all sorts of Power to fight a corrupted political system.
    >Once a police officer in Germany, “Your Guy” was betrayed by one of his closest allies for political power. Crippled and alone he vowed to right the crimes committed by his former friend. His adventure began by allying with the magic users he once persecuted as a police officer to regain his ability to heal some of his wounds. After being chased out of Europe by his nemesis, he began gathering great powers to protect himself and to stay one step ahead of her. Collecting such forces as the technology of Nemo, Ancient Chinese alchemy, Aztec Blood magic, and the “Gifts” of the fey, “Your Guy” stands for the truth no matter the cost, and hopes to one day have the power to one day return to Europe ready for the final showdown with her to show the world the truth once and for all.

I like that idea, it wouldn't be difficult to work out, and could probably be easy to learn.

Now one has to consider escalation, given that now That Girl is pretty much like a heavy-duty train wearing the skin of a young woman (ruling out the sniper plan people had). It seems only logical that with little if anything left of her body to improve, she'd turn to things like anti-magic wards, stuff like that.

However, that doesn't negate it as a possibility, and unless she was expecting it, it would likely provide an upper hand for a time.

Is her skin still her own? As long as she has organic tissue where you can get at it, she would have to watch her back around you.
And if she goes full robo and gives up on her skin, you can start a smear campaign calling her out on being for the people when she is no longer even human.

Anti-magic wards are harder to work around, but only because we don't know anything about how they would work.
They can't be magical in nature, because that would impede on her own machinery. (Hell, if they are magical in nature, you should see if there is a way to strengthen them to the point where they are so powerful and so obviously magical that they mess up her clockwork parts in a big way.)
If the wards are technological in nature, you would have to find out how they work. Maybe ask Nemo? Something like that certainly sounds like Nemo-tech.
(If such things exist and she does not have any herself, see about procuring some yourself, tamper with them so that only you (and maybe the kid) can bypass them à la Master Li from Jade Empire. Then send them to her using Nemo, as an "official" apology for assisting in her child's kidnapping.)

And for gods sake don't ask around about anti-magic wards so that word can get back to her. We don't want to give her ideas.

As for things to counter her, yes I believe the Inventors could work some things up if they didn't already. While I may not be able to use the full array of potential weapons against her, the baby could. The baby is not subject to the whole Science VS Magic thing, and could use both interchangeably or at the same time.

The kid will without a doubt be your best weapon against her.
Hell, he will be the best weapon against whatever you point him at. The way you have described it, it sounds like he and the Outsider have more than a few things in common.

Notice that I'm saying "will be", though. He's still a kid. You practically took him out of his crib.
Outside of training, he won't be fighting anyone until he's at the very least 18 years old.

Until then it's an arms race between you and her over who can think up the most bullshit way to counter the other.
Something like Hamon and a Stand, as well as having Nemo as an ally, would put all the good cards in your hand for a long time.

Also, you should take a cue from Jade Empire's Master Li, who I have already mentioned, and put some kind of magical kill switch in the kid that only you can use. He's still a kid, so you have a lot of time to put down something really complicated that can't be countered easily.
You and That Girl are pretty much playing a zero-sum game where both of you are villains (You are in the right, of course. Just tell yourself that and everything will be all right), so that little shit will inevitably betray you at some point.

    >And in who's favor?
    His own.

There's been a lot of talk upthread about raising the tyke to be a great unifying king and a force for good, justice and order.
Keeping you (disorder) and That Girl's (evil) bullshit in mind, you should assume that sooner or later, you will both have to answer for your crimes.
When, or if, that happens, you will have to chose between dying for the cause, or killing the kid.

Now that I put it like that, I don't think I would personally put kill switch magic in the kid after all, but it is still an option that should be given some thought.
That's the thing with this stuff. It's something that MIGHT happen, so you might as well have contingency plans for it. In the earliest threads, everyone told you to be Batman. Well, planning for this stuff is how you are Batman.

Also, you should really see about reading Jojo's Bizarre Adventures. If nothing else, the series is an education on how to curb-stomp your enemies with seemingly useless powers.

If you don't like people thinking of you as the villain, you should have thought of that BEFORE you kidnapped the only heir of one of Europe's most influential royal houses, potentially destabilising the entire continent. At the moment you can only roll with it.
Comfort yourself with the fact that although you might seem like the villain, you are doing it for the greater good. You are not yet the BBEG.

Anyway, it's starting to get really late where I'm at so I'm heading off for bed now.
    See you next week, DP.
Remember to start on convincing your GMs that cybernetics counts as foreign objects. And as always, be subtle about it.

I was a bit sad to find the thread having 404'd in the morning. Sadly, next Saturday I'm at a party and is most likely hammered when I get home, so I just hope that survives the night as well.

Revenge is a tricky art monsieur. It wraps us in it's coils, making us dance the danse macabre. Where it will take us, well, who can know mon ami, when it is the grim reaper fiddling away at the bandsaw while the world around us burns.

Revenge changes a man- plants a seed of hatred in his soul, and that seed grows into a tree to bear a poison fruit of hatred, deceit and murder, growing strong as it blackens your soul.

There can be no quarter when you play the game of thrones and kings- no mercy, and nothing other then absolute victory, or a fate worse then death.

    Ignominy.

Disarmed Policeman and a friend of his, the Nun, is the only people who can prove she had anything to do with the murder.
And now the Nun is working with the woman...

The Spanish royal family hates her guts, but is still grateful for her supplying them with a new heir.
Even if their son was a bit on the young side, he was old enough to have an interest in women, so when some bitch from the German nobility showed up with a baby in tow they were actually relieved.

The common people from all over Europe love her though.
The thing is, other than killing a bunch of people and raping a teenager, she is a good person. Everything she has done was for political power, which she uses to actually help the people.

Actually one other person could, but he's also working for her. Arguably he's the evil person in the setting, as time and again That Girl has tried, and notably wanted to leave the whole political and world-changing game outright, but the guy keeps playing the guilt card and possibly blackmailing her into sticking around.

As for the kid, I'd say it's doubtful that he had an interest in women. He was only barely old enough to even be physically capable of having children (apparently That Girl would have acted sooner, but waited till his 13th birthday when she assumed physically he'd be developed enough), and was religious to the letter. Though he may have liked the Nun character, he was never one for impure thoughts or actions.

And of note, she's only killed two people. Otherwise, everything else you said checks out.

Nope, when I mention him being a kid, I mean he was still just a kid. That's why the whole thing was so repulsive, nothing like a case of "DURR HURR WELL HE MUST HAVE ENJOYED IT". She may as well have been a monster to him.

The trip, well we just left France, and are approaching the North African coast. I have no idea how long the trip could take, depending on how many stops are made. I assume a good number though, given that the vessels purpose is to garner supplies and trade wherever it can. So as a rough estimate I'd guess a few months, till reaching the Inventors haven.

As for what to expect, I have even less of an idea. So far the game has taken place only in Europe. And Nemo's lot were just a background force, never really seen and only rumors abound of them. So we're basically traveling with mysterious strangers from another land, to be stopping off at places previously not even thought of in-game.

At the very least I expect it should be interesting to see how these places are in the setting. That's not considering any adventures that might take place in them.

That is not what I was trying to imply, but w/e.

For the next session at least, you should try to find out where you will be stopping, then make a grocery list of what skills or magic you can learn from those places.
The likely ones are Africa, the Middle East, India and China, and of those, Africa and China are possibly the most important.
If you get a chance to visit Australia, don't leave the sub. Grab the child and go hide somewhere deep in the boat. Modern Australia is pretty rough, but Steampunk & Magic Australia must be hell on earth. (The Outsider didn't speak with an Australian accent, did she?)

His first encounter with her was the Formal Ball event where among other things she chucked him out a window. Apparently that was enough to convince him that it would be wise to side with her in all future endeavors. To my knowledge, he set about contacting her in the first place to get her assistance, which invariably led to my character's maiming.

I'm pretty sure with him out of the picture though, That Girl has no reason to keep playing the world changing game. Like if I managed to bump him off somehow, she'd be free to leave everything behind, like she said back when she butted in on my guy's family reunion.

Yeah I mean he's just using That Girl. After she crashed the family reunion, she stopped plotting and planning her own actions. Now she just does what he tells her to do, and he has her take all the credit and such, billing her up to be some great heroine and savior, while in reality she seems rather reluctant. I mean it's not literally like that, but that's the way it seems, he's got her under his thumb.

Plus, since she does all the actual work, he doesn't have to change himself, while she keeps having to augment more and more of herself to cope with the difficulties.

How will I do it? I dunno lol, I'll probably do what you guys tell me. If I had it my way, I'd probably just kill him and be done with it. With him out of the way, That Girl would likely cease to be a threat. I mean she wouldn't continue to be coerced and blackmailed into things she didn't want to do anymore.

He didn't join up with her until after, and he uses what she did to the Prince AS blackmail, he knows and has proof she did it. As stated, around the time of crashing the family reunion, she made clear her feelings about how everything that was happening in the world was just too much for her and she wanted to stop.

The guy though has always been playing the guilt card, saying stuff like she'd come this far, she couldn't back out now, plus the whole blackmailing her thing.

    >>14576354

And the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

    >>14575639

Because it didn't seem pertinent. I mean he's not some great mastermind like she's proven to be, and isn't some walking powerhouse like she is. He just leads her around and tells her what to do, basically hands her the daily itinerary so to speak and she follows it. He's not a genius or anything, he's just always been a clever politician, he knows how to play people. He saw the idea she had of world peace, and simply expanded on it. She was doing good before, now she's doing great. Together they're two heads of the same beast.

Although he has different ideas of how to solve the war problem. While she seeks peace and unity, kindness and generosity for all, he's more into the deterrents idea. Making warfare and weapons more and more dangerous so that no one wants to use them. With of course That Girl being at the forefront of everything, he's turned her into a veritable walking war deterrent. Being that she can withstand a direct shot from Inventor power cannons, there's likely little in the old world that could cause her harm, so no country would want to risk going to war when they could expect her to be on the battlefield.

At least, that's the guys plan. How well it'll work I have no idea. At the very least he has her fooled I believe, she still thinks they're working towards peace on earth and love for all.

As for details, he's just a member (albeit senior) of the main party. I assume he's taken on a leadership role though, while the others have their various skills, and That Girl provides the muscle and funds. His goals I think are similar to That Girl's, but more sinister. Ideally she wants to prevent war, and establish unity and equality for all, the only problem being that it would be too easy for her to end up as a dictator even if she doesn't want that. The guy on the other hand, openly wants pretty much a dictatorship with him at the top leading it. He doesn't want war only insofar as that it would weaken Europe which he wants to be the centerpiece of his despotism, from which to take over the rest of the world.

We met back when after the first TPK, and it was just me, the Nun, and another guy looking to rebuild a group. This new guy was a member, sort of like a speech giver for a main political party in the state at the time. In joining, he and the newcomers had never met, nor knew anything about That Girl. Whens she attacked a second time though, I suppose that was enough to convince him to join her. Or use her, seems more appropriate.

As for weaknesses, I suppose his most glaring weakness is that he's not some magical or strong person. He's just a normal human, and though he hides behind a mechanical monster of a woman, he can be killed just like anyone else.

Also, despite the fact that he seems to be pulling the strings now, he's not some great planner or mastermind villain or anything. He's just opportunistic. The only reason he's even managed to get where he is, is simply because That Girl became disheartened with the kind of person/monster she was becoming so she lost interest in the world-changing game. That gave him the chance to step forward and fill the gap that she left in giving up.

Make no mistake though, I fully believe her to be a greater threat than him, and if the two were actually pitted against each other she would win every time. Not only physically, but mentally too. The kinds of scheming and Just-as-planned-ing she's capable of are unmatchable.

    >>14576681

Well we later found out that was all a ruse, a face she put on. Trying to be the villain, when later she showed up crying and confessing that wasn't the kind of person she wanted to be.

She's tried to come on strong and be the bad guy, but it only served to remind her of what she was becoming, and my guy's response drove it home.

or, the more difficult but more satisfying
    b) to convince the girl that she's being manipulated, and that it's in her best interest, indeed, the free worlds best interest, that she remove the skeezy politician from the picture

A good way to do this would be, perhaps, proving with definitiveness that he is not working towards a free world, but rather one of despotism, that he runs as his own personal kingdom.

Well she wouldn't ever kill him but if he isn't careful he might end up making himself a liability.

She may be reluctant about what she's doing and easily manipulated, but she's still the same person and she's not stupid. If he slips at any point, I bet she'll be the first to catch him out.

As said, he's playing a dangerous game of wielding her around as his perfect weapon, because if ever he becomes her enemy for any reason, then he's quite literally shot himself in the foot. That's all I think he sees her as now, a weapon. It's his mistake.

    That's good!

You have your work cut out for you then. You don't even need to do all that much. Just keep pulling the blocks out from underneath his feet.

Chip away at his power. What is his power? You said he was a politican right?
    Who are his supporters?

Now taht you're on the inventors ship, maybe you can hit at him extra terriotrially. Take out ships owned by merchants and companies that fund him, for example

Well he started as a politician, and is still politically minded I think.

But his focus is weapons and war tech manufacture.

Well that's easy enough to do-
you can cripple his shipments of arms, either the Nemo (drilling holes into ships) or perhaps, a bit more... flamboyently. Perhaps have a curse seon his guns so that they always misfire.

Go after his suppliers- the steel and iron ore, the fusilites, the small swiss company that makes the widget gear that allows for the 9 milimeter guns to be fired.

Get more ambitious- kill him with kindness. Be a guiding force of peace wherever you can. Or change the nature of warfare itself.

Either way, render his weapons obsolete and useless.

He does everything in-country though, so nothing having to do with ships. Apart from attacking resources directly, I don't think I could specifically target something like "The company that manufactures springs that your cannons use", the game just isn't THAT detailed.

Affecting resources though, that shouldn't be impossible given that the Inventors are gobbling up raw materials left and right.
