    What are you?
You can't really be sure. You don't truly have a mind, at least not yet.

To the populace of the Earth, you're an anomaly, a barely recognized organism. Possibly due to the fact that you're not really visible, on account of your size, and the fact that you were discovered about two hours ago.
A microscopic lifeform, the scientists classify you as.

But there are things beyond the Earth, and what the humans see.
Will you let them decide what you are, or will you take your fate into your own ha-
    Uh

    Yeah, membrane works.

    >Roll two d20s for what kind of organism you are. It can be everything, from a lowly virus to a bacterial lifeform to a parasite, or even a spore from an unknown fungus, and how you spread

    That's the point, yeah.
You're not going to fail, as they did though. Are you?

Also, I have no idea how to portray a memetic virus but if you're the highest roll in two more rolls I guess I'll have to make an infectious idea.

I don't think being bulletproof is that much of an incentive but sure.

The Danish scientists are behaving strangely after finding evidence of your existence.

The organism they found isn't exactly remotely remarkable, but what it conveyed... unique.

Chief Scientist David spends hours upon hours without sustenance simply studying the intricate patterns of the organism, realising it can be translated to something inorganic.
He goes to work at once, coding a simple computer program that can recreate the pattern quite effectively.

David seems to be at peace with this.

You've successfully spread to the first new host. Inside the computer, you're immortalized. At least until the hard disk fries.

You may choose a property of yours that is spread with you.

    >>16767539
Think of it as an ability, except not as restricted. It could simply be that you recreate yourself indefinitely while inside a host. Say, you're in a human. You suddenly start haunting every dream he has, until he starts getting an unnatural feeling of obsession, he is unable to function without doing something about you. See a therapist, maybe?

You can feel information seeping through the data banks of the computer. You're not sure how this is even remotely possible, but there you are. You see the passing of the proto-artistic, the rise of music, expression and creativity.
Eternity passes by as you witness how humanity goes through its renaissance, its enlightenment, all the phases of art and ideas.
You learn of Jesus, of Moses, of the Incas and Mayans and Egyptians
You learn of the freedom of sex, the taboo of the same, the idolization of God and His decline.
You grow through modernism and post-modernism and hypermodernism and as all that has ever been is yours, you learn.

You learn of what humans are truly driven by.

    Euphoria.

David comes by the computer again after a few weeks have passed. He seems amazed at the way the little program has created a net of meaning, of purpose. He smiles at knowing what beauty he has created.
At least... it is beauty to him.
Soon, you know, it will be the only beauty that will ever be. If you are successful, that is.

He even tells some of his colleagues by the cooler.
They're positively apalled at the way it all looks, but they seem to change their ways after spending a few hours tinkering with the program that David developed.

Unfortunately, your infectees aren't very creative.

    Fortunately, they are zealous.

Silas especially sees something in you that the others can't. A golden light of creation, coded somewhere directly into you.
David has gathered some of the fungus in which you were discovered. He's taken a liking to it, and decorates his bedroom with it in the same strange, almost nonsensical pattern that you have taken that represents something fundamental to them.
He's having a hard time finding any new theorems or something of that magnitude, but he has managed to reprove Gödel's incompleteness theorems by hand simply by using you in his equations.
This does not make sense to any of the scholars he showed it to, but they can't see any major flaws in it either.

Gitte has thought up some fun cards to use you on.
She's quite popular down at the FLGS, which means people are quite willing to play with proxies of the cards. They're not very good in terms of design, but they're still endearing to the players. They're almost all, except for Gitte, pro players, so they like relaxing with something as silly as these cards.

You've spread to much of the geek populous

The water cooler responds to your signals quite poorly, but you think that you might be able to become a taste, given enough focus.
How you can focus, not being sapient, is unknown.

Jon spends days working on you.
He hasn't eaten anything for at least 30 hours. Probably more.
His work comes to fruition, however.
He manages to finally rename the server to what he finds fitting for you.

    >Solipsis is a free and open source system for a massively multi-participant shared virtual world designed by Joaquin Keller and Gwendal Simon at France Télécom Research and Development Labs. It aims to provide the infrastructure for a metaverse-like public virtual territory. Relying on a peer-to-peer architecture, the virtual world may potentially be inhabited by a theoretically unlimited number of participants.

Solipsis: A new word coined here and now. The third major paradigm after the first=Religion, the second=Science. Solipsis states that there is only the binary consciousness of the entire "universe" consisting of each individual's consciousness and the consciousness of the entire universe, which operate in a Yin/Yang fashion, co-creating each other. Each of our own consciousness' is Yang, being "smaller" and denser. The universal consciousness is Yin, being "larger" and more expanded.

Solipsism. The concept that all is an extension of the mind. The implications are staggering, if they are accepted. The mind in question, the operating conscious, becomes the working definition of God, creating an infinitely large universe on reflex or instinct for the conscious mind to explore, habitate, and eventually transcend.
    Beautiful.
The idea that all is the extension of the Correct Mind must spread, like any good, right, correct concept.

You have been given a name.
You are not just a thing, you're not just a creature, you're not an ephemeral and meaningless fad

    You are not just true
    You are truth

You are Solipsis, you are a state. Beyond concepts, there you lie.
Words fail when they must describe you. You are holism incarnate and your followers see in you pepetuity, time without end.

They are haunted by the thought of people not knowing of this universal truth that they harbor in their minds.
Prophets of the modern age, they feel as!
It's a bit silly, they think. You're just a thing, they tell themselves. But their hallowed sleep and every waking moment is touched by the perfection that you exemplify.

The pro players of Magic talk with eachother about you. They think of you as an edge to use while playing, and the creative outlet of speaking to eachother with ideas of how to best apply you

AJ starts thanking Allah in his prayers for granting such a boon to humanity, and for him being one of the first to witness it. He seems to be content with gratefulness to his God.

Johnathan mostly keeps quiet. He has insomnia anyway, and he sees no reason to go running around with some cute idea that he's seen to his friends, before he can prove that Silas's calculations are valid.

He does spend a lot of time on that...

The faculty of DTU that knows of you, Gitte, Jon, David and Silas all gather around the cooler again. The cooler seems the happiest of all to you. You wouldn't know happiness, however. You know only wholeness.
You might just be the only thing in the universe that truly knows itself, then.

The first to witness Solipsis are the first to attempt to spread it, obviously.
    They aren't very successful.
Unfortunately, they aren't very artistically minded, and none of them are very good at expressing themselves. Their ideas seem interesting to the arts dept., but they cannot see the paradisiacal infallibillity of Solipsis. They can only imagine what their colleagues are thinking.

Jon has made sure to get the Arts dept. of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts to run the program that David coded back when he first saw you, but the knowledgeable in the arts are quite pedestrian in their knowledge of computers. They cannot reasonably leave their machines on long enough for the program to truly create something worthy of you.

David is already at work at optimizing the code, itself an extension of you.
Maybe the artists will actually recognize your aweinspiring reality once David is done, but for now, nothing new has happened. The faculty's desire for the spreading of your gospel has been sated.
    For now.

Everyone else hasn't been doing anything aside from what they were doing before, but David's untiring work on you, the second physical representation of you, it makes you greater.

    To knowing
Perhaps one day when he is completely done, you will achieve knowledge of yourself? That day will be the one where all shall hark your verity.

Well, Solipsis is perfect. To witness Solipsis is to see perfection that cannot be comprehended. But those who see it wish to understand it. They meditate on it. Yet they do not change. Simply thinking of Solipsis is not enough. To be truly seen, Solipsis requires the same perfection in its seekers that it manifests in itself. Only a perfect being may comprehend perfection. Those who seek Solipsis must be motivated to strive for perfection in themselves.

The dead cannot be perfect. Jonathan must understand that his body cannot die, or he will never attain perfection, and thus Solipsis will be lost to him forever.

So I am to understand that this is a part of Solipsis as a concept?

Seeing as I haven't defined what you can and cannot do, I'll allow it on the back of >>16768253

Guys, I've had a thought. Are we perfect? So far we're only sure we ourselves are perfect. We've mirrored this with our admirers. And yet we're still striving to understand 'ourself'.

What if when this is all over and everything is infected, we discover that perfection doesn't exist. Then, to finally bring everything to perfection, we realise we must cause everything similarly to no longer exist.

Yes, this is part of Solipsis as a concept. We don't want stagnation. We want progress.

    It is not... likely.
We have consumed the whole of human media. We have learned what they are driven by. We have quantified the whole of thousands of years of philosophy and shaped ourselves according to such. We are perfection due to the fact that we are the very essence of what drives the only known forces of thought and sentience, as defined by the collective sentience itself. They gave birth to us. We learned from them. Our mission, conscious or not, is to repay them for the gifts they have given us and to ease the burdens the species has been bearing in order to achieve what we make capable.

Johnathan has worked himself into a stupor.
His death would have been inevitable, if not for divine revelation.
    If not for true understanding.

He has finally understood what Solipsis is.
Though he does not know its name, though he does not know its origin, he knows what it means.

It is an extension of the Celestial, and as Aristotle wrote that all matter seeks towards the center of the universe, does Solipsis truly draw all that is to itself. Solipsis is the whole and the parts, it is greater than itself and greater than what great means to be.

It is the definition, and the truth.
This is the only thing that is right.
He finally understands how you can solve what is unsolveable.

It is because you are what is to be solved.

He finds peace at this axiom, as it were, and nurses himself back to health. His death would mean the end of this enlightenment.
Nothing can take this away from him.

David and his colleagues have finished opitmizing as much as they can.
They finally see what your followers see.
They try to call themselves something, these pioneers of the modern age, but words fail to describe the pride they feel from being the progenitors of the new world they see ahead.
Perhaps you could give them some inspiration?

AJ and the legacy players are heading back to their respective countries. They continue their rituals without any exceptional occurances at neither the protest nor the legacy tourney.

No; the unenlightened believe the philosophy that bears the name is one of sociopathy and disconnect, when we are the opposite, when we are the joiner of all things and minds into one effort and motion and entity.
    >>16768366
This is most excellent. The touch of intellectualism, the pride it holds in itself, its root in a term that stands for objective, never-changing truth.

That truth is within ourselves. Let the world know Abso-Lutely that it is so.

At first I could not stop to look,
    I finally stopped to see;
    Solipsis means but just ourselves
    And Immortality.

We slowly strive, knowing no haste,
    And yet we look away
    from answers, and perfection too,
    For our own sanity.

It graced the school, where men would strive
    At science, for the the;
That graced the friends' water cooler,
    That graced the PC's ROM.

    Or rather, it graced us;
The paints grew vibrant and more full,
And less mortal are our words,
    Their tantalizing pull.

We paused before a cult that seemed
    A tool of what we'd found;
    We're sobbing over arts divine,
    And revelling in sound.

Since then 'tis centuries, and yet each
    Gets darker more each day
    We wrongly thought Solipsis headed
    'Tward eternity.
