Let me reaffirm the general idea.
InfiniCon is the Convention that never ends. It's a massive conllection of all things nerdy, and geeky, and weeaboo-y and so on. It is a giant clusterfuck between an Anime, Comic Book, Video Game, LARP, Renaissance Faire, and traditional gaming conventions, all occupying the same city, taking over whole districts and areas in and around this self-contained world.
On the surface, it is an amazing testament to the power on fans and what they can accomplish as a united group. InfiniCon is the Las Vegas of conventions, holding large events, hosting respected guests, and attracting attendees in the hundreds of thousands, all for different kinds of fans all within the same place. Some come for a fun vacation weekend and countless others never left, staying at InfiniCon, immersed in the wildly different cultures, wearing costumes all day, every day, working to keep the Con and the city itself running.
But InfiniCon is not as utopian as it may seem. Though they coexist with one another, many fandoms butt heads quite often over territory disputes, claims to certain resources, and sometimes jut because they don't like each other.
Darker still is the seemingly limited resources that trickle into the city. countless people want to come and live the dream, but there aren't enough rooms to go around, not enough spots for every vendor to have a shop, not enough flawless silk fabric for every tailor or enough cardboard for every propmaker. Things can get cuthroat and quite deadly the deeper you get into Infinity City.... |
