Once more, getting this in earlier than expected.

Last time, we got out from our "confinement," and became better acquainted with the members of the Trafalgar, the ship we're currently on. Among them, you found yourself befriending Ben, a young engineer, only to lose him tragically in a Zeon attack on the ship. However, it appears his spirit hasn’t quite passed on yet, and he has decided to accompany you as a spirit guide.

However, right now, you’re busy being someone else.

You are now Robin Diez, and you weren't paid enough for this shit.

Guard a prototype Mobile Armor, that was all you were paid for. It wasn't even your damn shift. But no, make the mercenary retrieve the Elmeth, they said. Don't give him a proper suit to get it back, no. He can manage in an Oggo. Yeah, right. If he had just gotten the High Mobility Zaku he had asked for, he'd be sitting pretty with that Mobile Armor back at the Flannigan Institute. Instead you have to break out of a well-staffed Federation battleship, steal a suit, and escape. You've gotten out of your cell, so that's a start. However, you have no idea where anything is.

You sneak around, plastering yourself to a wall whenever you hear noise. Upon making it down to Sub-Block B, you come across a sleeping soldier, a real greaseball. He's surrounded by cans of beer, dead drunk. He's not going to wake up for a while. Grinning, you strip him of his uniform and take his gun. Putting the uniform on, you stuff him into an unoccupied room, locking the door from the outside.

So you've got a disguise and a gun now.

"I know every crew member of this ship. You're not one of them."

    2. Explore the ship
    3. Find someone to talk to/something useful to do

Whenever there is no-one else around, like now, we can talk to Ben without appearing to be gloriously insane.

Ask him if he saw anything interesting last night. With us asleep, he probably wandered the ship. That's what I would do.

    You pick the pancakes.

"Sure," says the cook, "but it'll take me a minute or so."

While the pancakes are cooking, you hear a couple of soldiers talking.

"Man, I saw the captain coming out of Sub-Block E the other day. Wonder what she was doing."

"I heard there's some secret tech down there that we're ferrying back to Jaburo. I'd kill to get down there."

"Same here, but there's a password to get through. Guess we're out of luck.

You get your pancakes and sit down, eating. They are delicious.

Once finished, you go and check on the Elmeth. Everything is fixed up- it looks great! Burning finds you a couple of seconds later, and directs you to the bridge, where the captain is sitting there, her face kind, but concerned.

"Hello, Shannon. Let's talk. I want to thank you personally for helping out yesterday in the defence. I wouldn't do this under any other circumstances, but... I'd like to offer you a provisional officer commission, as a sub-lieutenant. We'd be obligated to keep you safe and fed, and you'd have access to your mobile weapon, as well as the ability to build and purchase others, but you would be obligated to defend against attacks, and participate in attacks. The Bit Control System can't be miniaturized yet. It requires a craft larger than a Mobile Suit. We would have to turn the Elmeth into a support system for the Gundam.

At this point, it's better if Burning pilots the Gundam, because otherwise all the bits go to waste. Later we may be able to pull a WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY, though.

Strap the Elmeth to its back! It sort of looks like a turtle shell, so it would work! With it's daring lack of logic, there is no way this plan could go wrong!

Well, the Gundam DOES have numerous support systems. Using the Elmeth that way isn't unfeasible.

She cracks a grin. "Well, you're definitely not a Zeon spy... They'd kill for one of these. Very well, I'll inform Lieutenant Burning of the decision." With that, she walks away. You look back up at the White Devil-No, the Gundam. It's beginning to look like an angel...

To do something like this, both the Prototype Gundam and the Elmeth will have to be upgraded enough to become compatible.

We can do no wrong. Honestly, if we just straight-up murdered Monsha and turned him into a hood ornament for the Elmeth I think people would applaud.

The Elmeth is also significantly larger than them all, since it's roughly three times the Gundam's size. Not to mention they were designed by opposing design bureaus. Better to just give it to Burning.

You take the time to first repair the Zudah. You now have a Zudah!

    >>17798173
The lab and upgrade trees allow for such a design, but it will require some significant doing.

The Work Ball has no weapons to speak of, but it can be equipped with weapons if said systems are upgraded, and it takes one off all repair/build costs for all machines, and plans.

By the way folks, let my explain something: All the secret stuff, the neat swag you've obtained so far? It's all been luck-based. If you had not chosen to read that book in thread 2, you would have no Work Ball Plans, and you would be unable to get them for the rest of the game. You have 3 days, including today, until you reach Jaburo, and with 4 chances a day, you had a very low chance of getting the Gundam, with 12 rolls overall. You guys are doing AWESOME.

    >and it takes one off all repair/build costs for all machines, and plans.

    Build the Work Ball immediately.

Just to clarify, we don't have any plans that could make use of that manipulator unit, right?

    >If you had not chosen to read that book in thread 2, you would have no Work Ball Plans, and you would be unable to get them for the rest of the game.

    Well, there you go.

Regarding luck, when you start out being able to use 11/12 bits, it kind of sets the tone for the rest of the game, I think.

When we start back up on Sunday, you'll be able to patrol 4 times, which gives you a chance of finding scrap. Or enemies. Or parts. Or Plans. Or nothing. Usually enemies or nothing.

Actually a 10% chance when you have 12 rolls has a little over a 70% chance of coming up at least once.
But yeah, we're freaking lucky at everything we do, except pool that is.
