Even with their primary prey now mostly earthbound, the Wecsky continue their control of the day lit airspace.
They only land during the night, and assume a ball nest, the interior slowly buzzing to generate heat during the night to ensure the survival of the swarm.
To further improve their protection during these night time hours, a mutation, which only happens amongst the strongest (Or perhaps those who have been exposed to the floating Frrila isles for too long) causes them to lose their wings, and grow heavy shells. While alone they are no match for a single stalck, the pheromones released by a fallen guardian throws the slumbering ball into a frenzy. Following the scent of their fallen's fluids on the attacker, they rend the foe without mercy.
Combined with the armored guardians and soarers, they can attempt to hunt down the bounding Flouz, with mixed success. Guardians always die, rushing in head long without regard for safety or survival, intent only on getting a good latch onto the Flouz and snarling them while their soaring kin move in with a hundred stinging swips before flying off, to avoid harm.
They are the honored elders, too old to join the hunt, but still ready to give their lives dearly for the swarm. If they are not a part of a hunt, they spend what remains of their short time sunning on rocks, waiting for the buzz of their children over head to tell them it is either time to sleep, or time to kill. |
