The year is 2025.

Your name is Dave, and you didn't ask for this.
Once a generic white-collar worker who lived alone save for your cat, you were hit by a car and spent three months in a coma. You awoke to find that your unconscious body had been taken in by the corporation 'Emulsified Electronics', and implanted with an experimental augmentation. You soon found that it allowed you to control electronic devices with your mind. You quickly became embroiled in corporate warfare, fighting the PMC ArmaTek and their employers, Cadmium Dynamics. EE also has constructed somewhat of a beneficial alliance with a corp called Kawasagi Infinite. ArmaTek vanished into thin air, Cadmium Dynamics was torn completely apart after a strike at their heart, Kawasagi Infinite is one of EE's allies, and Resurgence has been trimmed down, and their survivors are reasonable enough that you were able to diplomance them. You defeated the bad guys, got the girl, and saved your admech army.

After all of this stress, fighting, and technological advance. . you've ended up on top, somehow.

>You have 10000 credits.
>You have 1 fate reroll.

You run into the other room, and see Lucca on the ground, a smouldering charred crater a few feet away from her, in the wall; a repair drone was already there, repairing the damage that had been done.
Amy was standing there, Hydra in hand.
"I'm sorry, Lucca, I got a bit carried away. But I'm not going to *share* Dave." Amy said.
Lucca gaped like a fish, as if she were trying to say something but didn't have any words.
>>
I have never participated in this quest, but I just want to say that that character sheet you've got in yer first main post is quite awesome looking OP.

Stand confused for a moment.
"...H-hey girls, no need to fight."
"A-Amy, calm down."
>>
>>19251029
>Thanks! I worked hard on it.

Amy eyed you out of the corner of her eye, and she sheathed the weapon on her hip.
"Hey, Dave. Just so you know. . I'm really not okay with anyone else having you." She said.
>>
>>19251064
*gulp* "O-okay, sweetheart"
>>
>>19251064
"Quite possessive, aren't you?"
"What about your dirty, dirty fantasies involving me, Grayson, not a lot of clothes in a oily workshop?" Grin at her.

Then go help Lucca out.

"But honestly. No need to overreact like that, Amy. I'm all yours."
"I wouldn't want to share you either."
>>
You stand there, confused for a moment.
"H-hey girls, no need to fight."
"That wasn't really fighting." Amy said. "That was. . . emphasis."
"What about your dirty, dirty fantasies involving me, Grayson, not a lot of clothes in an oily workshop?" You ask.
"That's different." She says. "Those are just fantasies."
"But honestly, no need to overreact like that, Amy. I'm all yours."
"Yeah. . I did overreact a bit. Sorry, Lucca." She said, and rolled over to Lucca, pulling her up. "Maybe I'm getting a bit stir-crazy."

"I guess being holed up in a claustrophobic, cold fortress for long periods of time does that to you."
"We need to go out somewehre and have a relaxing day off."

"... Now that we don;t have to look over our shoulders all the time, we can go ANYWHERE!"
"So how about it? A nice evening in Paris? An exiting day on Hawaii beaches? Or anything else really."
>>
"You might be. Let's go for a trip to new york." You say.
"What, really?" Amy asked.
You shrug. "It's been four years, but why the hell not? They might not even let me through the gates."
"Okay!" Amy said. "Lucca, you can use Muninn to fly to NewFuture City if you want- we can take the same raven."
"O-okay." Lucca said, a bit confused as to what the two of you are talking about. She ran down to the hangar, and got into one of the ravens.
"That was Huginn." Amy said, as Lucca took off. "She can't even tell the difference between them, can she?"

"You're right. Let's go to NearFuture city first, and hang out."
"Awesome." She said, and climbed into Muninn. You followed her in- it was actually quite cramped...

Fifteen minutes later, you're soaring above EE, touching down on the rooftop. As soon as you got there, both Abel and Jun were there, on the rooftop.
"Dave, Amy! You two did it." Jun said, giving you two a smile.
"Yo." Abel said.
>>

"Yes.
Yes we did." Beam like a mothefucker. Bask in glory.

"So how have you people been doing?"
>>
"Yes. Yes we did." You say, beaming.
"So how have you people been doing?"
"Well. . we haven't been doing much." Jun said. "All I've done was talk with the board about diplomacy with KI, and that surgery on Lucas. They're talking about a merger, though."
"And I've just been overseeing the networks. Something really strange happened to the satellites a while ago." Abel mentioned.

>>
"Yeah, that was me." You say. "I think. Elaborate, just to be sure?"
"Well, it was early yesterday, just about noon."
<That was when you and twelve left to the satellite network.> Azure mentions.
"Yeah, that was me." You repeat. "Twelve had some kind of Bullfrog, and used it to let his consciousness escape when he died."
Jun raised an eyebrow.
"He had a bullfrog? How did he end up doing that without a feedback problem?"
You draw on your new, stolen knowledge to answer that.
"He had his sapient AI work on it for him. I have the AI, and the data, if you want it."

You look around, and see the other Raven here. "Hey, where's Lucca?"
"She went downstairs to go talk with Lucas." Abel said. "She got new power armor, I saw."

Dammit. Let you players decide if we want to share that or not. What if we don't want other people running around with the same power as we have?!
>>
"Oh, by the way, did Mark ever finish working on my robo-dogs?"
"He finished the day you left." Abel said, and chuckled.
"Where's Grayson?" Amy asked, looking around.
"Oh, he's with Karin." Abel said. "Ever since KI shot at him and she dived in the way..."
"Karin?" Amy asked.
"Uh, Epsilon. Even though she's not technically epsilon anymore, without her IDW."

"What happened to it?"
"It got shot." Abel said. "Along with everything else in her torso. Good thing she was already here, as opposed to on the field like Lucas was."

>>
"Can't it be fixed?"
"No, not really. The chip is busted, and there's no way we can get in there without removing her entire spine to make room for it." Jun said. "Easier said than done."
"So, what else is EE planning?" You ask Jun.
"Not much, I have to admit. Ever since the whole thing with Resurgence started, and a few of our employees left, we've been talking about a merger with KI." Jun said. Then she shrugged. "Now that CD is gone, and ArmaTek stopped bothering us, it seems like things are looking up."
She turned to you.

"That was why I did it- to save your life." Jun said. "Don died the same way."
"Don?" Amy asked.
"My husband. James' father. Five years ago he got hit by a car, went into a coma." Jun said. "I left the hospital when we cut life support, and Grimmauld gave me a job here."

"Hey, I was thinking." You say. "If you guys have little to do. . how about space colonization?"
"What?" Jun asked.
"Space. Colonization." You say.
"Three gave us the idea." Amy said. "With power shield repulsion and KI hover plates, we don't need fuel or even an atmosphere to lift off. We can create anti-gravity with the hover plates, repulsion to travel quickly. . I've been plotting, yes I have." Amy said, chuckling.

"Don't forget the artificial gravity with telekinesis." You say. Amy nods.
"I'll need to do the research on the CD data we got. . but yeah, that should work."
Jun blinked, and behind her, you can see Abel gain a huge grin. "Does that mean I could build a safehouse on the moon?" He asked.
"Hey, no, that was my idea first." Amy said. "We do need a way to construct atomic goop, though, if we want it to be self-reliant."
"Actually. . " Jun said. "I think that would work. I'll have to talk to the board, and make sure the politics of everything works out fine. . we could sell commercial spacecraft, and make a killing."

>>
"Really, the only problem would be terraforming for us now..." You say. "But I'm sure we'll find a way to turn the moon into a Mediterranean paradise eventually."
"That wouldn't be hard, not if we put a massive- and I mean seriously massive- power core in the center, and figure out how atomic goop is made." Amy says.

"You mean we're not yet making a killing with all of these groundbreaking technologies I stole from CD and Amy improved?" You ask.
"Well. . not yet. It's mostly only an interest to other corporations, the military, and private labs." Jun said.

Lucca and Lucas come up to the roof, talking to one another. Lucca notices Amy, and freezes.

"Space colonies. Man that will be awesome."
"Maybe we'll have our own planet? We'll call it Planet Dave."

"Space colonies. . Man, that will be awesome. Maybe we'll have our own planet? we'll call it-"
"No." Amy says. "No calling it Daveplanet."
"Come on, that wasn't what I was going to call it." You say.
"Oh?"
"I was going to call it Planet Dave. There's a difference."
She hits you in the shoulder, then notices Lucca.
"Oh, hey, Lucca." Amy says, and gives her a mischevious grin.

"Don't worry." Amy says. "He's gotten a lot better at this."

You touch one of the flailing cables, and focus.

You aren't sure what you did. But apparently, it worked. You pull away from the wild mess of AI writhing every direction, and pull your hand back.

You, Amy, Abel, Sigma, Lucca, Lucas, Jun, Mark, Epsilon, and Grayson pile out of the parked VTOL, walking into the bar.

<Dave.> Azure said. <I can go ahead and simulate it for you, based on your BAC.>
<Awesome.> You respond, and that's the last real clear memory you have.

You remember wrapping a drite around Amy, pulling her close and spewing some line about having something 'five feet long and prehensile' for her, to which she giggled, red-faced.

You remember Abel and Lucca, telling eachother old stories and laughing for unexplained reasons.

Very, very vaguely, you remember Epsilon and Grayson leaning into one other as Epsilon says that you 'aren't that bad, actually'.

"I just kind of think it's sad, that it's been four years since you walked out on them and haven't talked to them since. Don't they miss you?"
"If they missed me, they shouldn't have chased me off like they did." You say.
"You contradict yourself about them, you know." Amy mentions. "Sometimes you want to see them, sometimes you're bitter. It's almost as if you're not sure how to deal with it."

-Steal Eiffel Tower
-Go back to EE and see if they have anything doing

-Go back to NY and maybe reconnect with parents
-Threesome with Lucc- oh wait, that's a horrible idea
-Expand our warhammer army. Make them fully robotic and shit.

"I could go grab my army." You say. "And then maybe teach you to play."
"Don't I need an army of my own? And all of the rulebooks and stuff?" Amy asked.
"Don't worry, I found a big collection of every codex out there in a garage sale a few years ago, and got it for cheap." You say. "And hell, once we find the secrets behind atomic-goo, we could just make the repair bots build you an army."

"Daaave." She says, rolling her eyes and getting up, snapping shut the book. "I'm sure my dad would be interested in this, It's right up his alley. But it's not up mine."
>>
"Hey, Dave?" She says, looking up to you.
"Yeah?"
She grins. "Love you."
Then she puts the book back on the pile, pulls herself to her feet, and then grabs your arm. "Let's go somewhere. I don't care where. EE, or maybe we can go to one of our parents' place and cause shenanigans, or talk to Sigma or something." She said. "Maybe go see how Grayson's doing."

"Call it in the air." You say.
"Heads?" she asks, and it lands on. . heads.
"Welp, let's go say hi to my family." You say.
The two of you cram yourselves into the Raven, and fly off toward Nearfuture New York.

". . this is your family's place?"
"Yep." You say, looking up. It's large- an enormous mansion, complete with a fence around the outside, wrought iron gates. You hit the intercom, and an aged voice responds. Your stomach is a bit fluttery, but you choke the feeling down.
"Hello? You've reached the Whiliker estate." The voice said.
"Hey, Reginald." You say, recognizing the butler's voice. "It's me, Dave."

You shrug, and work extra-hard at seeming casual. Reginald walks up, and he looks like he always has- black suit, bowtie, perfectly trimmed pepper hair and mustache.
"How has your wife been?" You ask. "And the kids, for that matter."
"My son graduated from high school last year." Reginald responds. "I'm as proud as I've ever been. And you, sir?"
"Oh, me? I've been fine. Died, came back, met this young lady, died again, you know, the same old things."
"And may I ask who you are, lady?" Reginald asked, bowing.
"Uh. . Amy Tolstoy."
"Tolstoy? Would you be. . Victoria's daughter?" He asked. Amy nods.
He leads the two of you into the house, and you walk in, still wearing your power suit.
"David." A woman's voice says. "How. . splendid that you've come back. Come to ask for money, no doubt." Your mom says.

Amy got to punch mom in the jaw, but what about Dave? He can't keep running forever. We need a resolution here. We need catharsis.

"Amy, we're staying." You say. "This is the kind of stuff I've had to deal with for the first sixteen years of my life."
"But what about the dogs?" Amy asks.
"You have power armor, I have the drites. . ." You say, as an old dog ran towards you. "Plus, Bowser likes me. Sit! Roll over!"

"Don't worry." Amy said. "He doesn't know he was going to get any that night. Epsilon's the one who told me. But still, we should probably move the cat to Antarctica."
"Oh? You have a home in Antarctica?" Your mother asks, suddenly interested.

Yes I do Mother, I have a secure bunker there. I got it after I drove out the previous inhabitant with my murderous tentacles and plasma beams. It's how they deal with ownership in Antarctica actually.
>>
>>19253883
"Oh, yes. It's not very homey right now, we still need to decorate parts of it and revamp some of the life support- the place gets too cold- but it's a doom fortress with enough weaponry mounted on it to declare a tiny Antarctican bananna republic and get off scot free, so its robust living conditions are fine by me."
>>
>>19253883
"It's less of a home and more of a fortress/bunker. With lasers, and stuff."
>>
"I have a great many things." You say. "We also have a flying superweapon, an underwater antarctic base. . "
"We also had that satellite for awhile, before it overheated and exploded." Amy added.

"Fine, Dave, I'll design you a Davemobile. And you can even *name* it that, if you want." Amy says.

The meal ends without anything else notable happening, and soon enough, you and Amy are led out of the mansion by Reginald, and you end up leaving the building.

A van screeches to a stop on the road in front of you, the door on the side opening.

Incidentally, I'm the random mystic oracle "General Broadcast - no identifier code" who dropped bullshit into the middle of your threads. I really have nothing going with Exabyte. I actually participated from about the second half on as an anon.

I was trying my hand at extrapolating outcome from the arc of the quest, and it turns out I was pretty damn on-target. Or Exabyte liked my ideas and integrated them. Either one.
>>
>>19257248
You were pretty damn on target at times; I never changed my plans because of anything posted by you. But the cryptic comments were awesome.
>>
>>19257265

Thx. It felt more rewarding than going, "THIS IS WHAT'S GOING TO FUCKING HAPPEN, GUYS." That, to me, is borderline threadshitting in an established quest.

Damn good job here, Exabyte. My only complaint is that it updated TOO frequently for me to participate all the time. Which, of course, beats the hell out of those threads that only show up on every third Thursday between midnight and 3 am. Maybe.
>>
>>19257286
I loved how quick the updates were when the quest ran.
Some of the quest authors take 30 minutes to post the same amount that Exabyte takes 5-7 minutes. Of course, that means if you're not quick enough, your suggestion will probably not go through but that is a small price I'm willing ot pay.
>>
>>19257286
>>19257311
Thanks; that's because I'm much too impatient to wait, actually, so that's one complaint that I won't be able to adapt to.
Also, I'm going to SORQ tomorrow or the day after, at the standard time. (15:00 4chan time, noon for me)
>>
>>19257311
>>19257359

I didn't mean so much the thread pacing; that was great. Don't get me wrong, I think Vedibere's a god among men, but 2 hr updates get old, and threads fall to infighting.

I meant more the ALL DAY ERRY DAY scheduling. Once to twice weekly is perfect, but of course I can't expect quests to cater to my needs. I'm just sad that I missed out on a lot due to work scheduling.
>>
>>19257400
There's a reason for the schedule: If I tried scheduling less often, then I know I'd just run ideas through my mind over and over again, until I have the 'perfect way' for the plot to go. . but then if that happened, I would get frustrated every time the participants pointed the thread somewhere completely different from the way the plot was going, and I'd get disheartened.
>>
