You are Dylan, and a Psych, and you really didn't quite expect to stay in a pub this long. Or to drink this much.

Of course, you've drunk more than any of the girls here before... probably... possibly. When a QPad is produced and you take turns to play Win, Lose or Draw, you get to see how Lynn's art skills really are; she can make seriously precise sketches even after several lagers and in a hurry. And you can also sense how her brain works, though every now and then you see deep darknesses and have to wonder what lies therein...

... 'What's the time now?' Laura leans over to your watch, and you can smell the beer on her breath. Oh dear; it's half-nine now. You turn around to see the table of college girls is still there, but your glamour appears to have worn off; at least you don't feel anyone looking your way with heat in their pants or skirts.

Which is a bit disappointing, but you suppose it could be worse...

> So, what do now? It's pretty late...
>>
Hmm. See how drunk Laura is. We should leave together.

If need be, see all of them home.

What do the girls want to do ?

I'd still like to visit Laura's place, but maybe the other two want to do something. I don't know, like wander drunkenly and aimlessly through sparsely-lit streets ?
>>
>>19373278
It's half-nine.

We should probably escort some ladies home, it's our duty as a gentleman or something like that.
>>
>>19373324

Laura is drunk, that's one thing... but for her the glamour doesn't seem to have worn off. Well, you didn't need to be a psych to tell, given she's now buried her face in your shoulder and is giggling.

Lynn watches on impassively, her mind already elsewhere. Tina, for some reason, is thinking about Lynn. Not really in a good way either.

'Um... shall we go? Where do you live?'

'Tina and I live just round the corner. Laura, on the other hand, you'll have to walk down the road.' You can glimpse from her mind a clear picture of the place - surprisingly clear. 'You'll take care of her, I gather?'

'And you...?'

'We can walk, don't worry.' They prove it by standing up, and then after a rushed goodbye they quickly run to the bathroom. You look at Laura, and then sense both a text and a presence sitting next to you.

The text says 'Oh yes, meet on Wednesday morning, talk about carnival. Attendance not compulsory but be nice.'

And the presence is that girl from just now, grinning at you and nodding to Laura. 'Now she's adorable, isn't she?' The raw lust from a few hours back has been replaced with a safer-feeling interest, thankfully.

How does alcohol affect our psionic senses ?

Try to determine who's the most horny person in the pub just to check our ability.
>>
>>19373435
Yes she is. Though a bit tipsy I must say.
>>
rolled 33 = 33

>>19373435
Sorry if I've been rude earlier... but I really enjoy the company of my friends.

Check mentally Laura's opinion on threesomes.
>>
>>19373444

> 59 - 10: not very successful

Well, you do get your answer - alcohol seems to make things swirly, and add a yellow filter to a lot of your thoughts. The mental images take far longer to 'load', as it were.

Nonetheless, after a while you manage to pinpoint some very horny people. Well, given they're two different couples making out with each other, horniness is pretty much a given. But certainly the pub has no shortage of sexual desire, and some of it is directed at you, and quite a bit of it at the girl next to you.

Man, she's pretty, and she's not even that made up. Impressive...

> How react? You can sense Lynn and Tina heading out the pub.

How is Laura ?
Try to stand up and make her walk a little, see if we might need help to get her to her place.
If not, well, nod and smile to the college girl and get out with Laura.

'Yeah... yeah she is. Though she's drunk.'

'I smell an evil plan, youngster,' the girl says, giving you a dirty look. You try to peer into her brain a bit to see if she's got evil plans, but it's all a bit blurry. Well, both of you have been drinking...

'No! I'm sorry just now for being rude. I do enjoy their company...' smiling, you try and get Laura to stand up. She clutches at the table, then once you let go of her shoulders she stumbles and falls back on the chair again with a small shriek.

You suddenly get a twinge of a vision, of someone writing things on paper and then pasting the pieces, very carefully, in a bathroom stall. Meanwhile the college girl laughs at Laura then turns to you. 'Well. If you haven't an evil plan, how about you get her home, and then come back and meet us? We might be going somewhere.'

> What do/say?
>>

Try to pursue the vision, and note details.
Try also to identify whom it's coming from.
>>
rolled 27 = 27

>>19373596
Well, I'm guessing that you do have some evil plans, it might be fun.

Say we'll take her home after we go to the bathroom and try to track down the note person in the bathroom and find what they're writing.
>>
>>19373596
Well, Laura did say that she wasn't our girlfriend and wouldn't be jealous...

"I might actually be a wimp... and I'm drunk... She doesn't live far, I'll take the time to make a decision on the way and maybe come back in 15 or 20 minutes."
>>
>>19373632
>>19373649

The vision is definitely coming from Lau- no, wait. You blink as you realise both of them are thinking about something quite similar; is that a coincidence?

Laura's bathroom is dark, and the person is writing on toilet paper. The other girl - her name's Tamsin, though you haven't asked and probably shouldn't give it away - has, in her mind, a well lit bathroom where a man is writing and pasting. You can tell he's writing nice things - love letters, maybe?

You get Laura back on her feet again, holding her close this time so she flops on you. Tamsin grins as you say ask if she could take a rain check.

'You have... 45 minutes. Or until Keri gets bored. And she gets bored quickly, so come now.' Keri has got her black, glossy hair shaved from her temples up, and she's downing what seems like tequila shots now. Blimey...

> Righto, what do?
>>
>>19373718
That is really strange, we probably won't get anything more about it from Laura, but we might get something from Tamsin.

Ok, introduce ourself to Tamsin, tell her we'll try to make it back and get Laura home, once she's home make her drink some water and tuck her into bed. Then we'll return to the bar.
>>

Like a mullet ?

I wonder if it's really a coincidence.
Check other people around for similar thoughts.
>>
>>19373750
>>19373783

Oh yeah a mullet, that's what it's called. You try searching, but you can't really glean much from the mass of thoughts around you. You have an inkling some people are thinking similar things, but then in a pub everyone's thinking of the bathroom...

Tamsin raises her glass to you and you leave the bar, making use of Lynn's and Laura's mental maps to find out where Laura lives. Amusingly, you can actually sense Lynn and Tina in their flat; it really is just round the corner.

... come think of it, this whole place is student-inhabited. Along the street you can feel students, either from college, or from high school. Maybe the street is owned by some hostel company or something...

'Hey... Dylannn... how'd you know I live here?' Laura's more sober than you thought. Then she flops against the door, drops the keys, and sits on the ground. Maybe not...

> What say?

You unlock the door and drag her in, plonking her on the couch as she giggles. Then you straighten her skirt over her legs.

'Mmmm. Such a gentleman.'

'Laura is that you?' footsteps, and then a young man looks down and sees you. 'Oh... who're you?'

The feeling you're getting is half surprise... and a little hostility.

> What do/say?

Try to see if he's family or friend or something. If he's fine, entrust Laura to his care.

"You've shown me the address and a picture of the place on our computer at one point."

"Oh, hey, I'm Dylan. A friend."

Well, looks like our evil plans won't unfold.
How young is he ?
Look into his mind to see whatever details about him and Laura that he won't tell us with his name.
>>
>>19373836
Just a friend helping her get home safely. You live here with her ? Can I use your bathroom ?
>>
>>19373887
>>19373875

He's the same age as you and Laura, but he's studying at another high school, about half an hour away near Ackfield Market. So this *is* a hostel-like development...

'Hey. I'm Dylan, I'm Laura's friend. Just got her back.'

'Where'd she go?' He sounds, and feels, accusing. Laura twitches in the couch.

'Huhhh... Bob...' you sense the reflex and dodge as she starts dry-heaving, but thankfully nothing comes out onto the carpet. 'Dylan...'

'Yeah, I'm here.' Bob comes and gets her on her feet. You wonder for a moment if they're an item, but no - they've been flatmates for two years, though, and for a while they were in fact an item. Bob feels a bit of bitterness towards Laura, amplified now that she's got another guy in the house...

Laura, for all her drunken fogginess, still seems to be thinking about fucking you. It's a feeble thought and patchy, but you're surprised when it peeks out occasionally...

You watch as he carries her to the bathroom, where she pukes for real. Mind, this flat is... quite nice, really.

> What do/say? Leave now?
>>
>>19373924

Bob says there's a bathroom upstairs, you can use it if you want. He sounds a bit reluctant about it, though.

Oddly enough, you feel something... slightly strange about this house. Memories, much as in the museum, are present; since this is an old house it is quite natural, but the memories themselves seem somehow... off.

>>
rolled 5 = 5

>>19374014
We'll have to try to check further the memory of a few items, like the toilet paper roll.
>>
>>19374036

Going up the stairs, you peer into the dark bathroom - and suddenly the memories, coming not just from the bathroom but from Laura downstairs as well - almost stagger you.

You remember, again, that encounter she had with Marina. But now you also see Marina and the gang in the bathroom in the clock tower... the laughing, and sometimes the screaming, that comes from inside...

Laura was going up to check on her because she'd heard about all this. And that's how she got locked inside. You see Marina with a scar on her arm that she insists wasn't self-inflicted. Then you see a group of girls, stripping off their tops at night in school, and lighting fireworks straight at the boarding house. One of them is Marina... or maybe it's Laura, you can't tell...

When you snap back to, Marina is crying in the bathtub before you. But she's not. Laura is shouting at Bob downstairs, and you walk out just to hear 'well it's nice to know that you don't give a fuck about yourself!' Bob shoves you roughly as he walks past you, and then stumbles and nearly busts his head on the toilet doorframe before swearing.

Shit.

> What do/say?
>>
>>19374138
Go see Laura. "Are you okay ?" Maybe help her to her room.
>>
You're not sure if in your outburst of memory you might have clued him in. Or influenced Laura into clueing him in...

Oh dear. Strangely enough you hear giggling from downstairs, and when you step down, you see Laura sitting on the couch, legs curled to her chest. One of her hands is between her legs while the other cups her mouth to muffle herself.

Her mind feels.... drunk, but also somehow feverish. There's a burning anger in it - at Bob... at Marina...
>>
>>19374177
Sit down next to her. Try to calm her down the old fashioned way.
>>
>>19374177
> One of her hands is between her legs while the other cups her mouth to muffle herself.

Go tell Bob not to be too harsh with Laura. Seeing other people, drinking with them, hell even fucking them, is fine. She's not throwing herself away, she's having fun, and there's other people beyond him that care and don't want to see her hurt.

Yeah, she is... doing that, and yes, you do want to give her privacy. But then her state of mind seems too weird for anyone to be touching herself in a normal way.

Indeed, the closer you get, the more she seems to shrink from you. She struggles as you try to sit next to her, kicking and squirming. You'd think it was sexy except her mind is basically a jumble of voices now, as if in a storm. Her eyes seem misted over with pleasure, but when she speaks it's in a panting, scared voice.

'I... I don't know why... I can't help... I can't help it...'

It takes you some tries to pull her hands away and pin them to her side. You hold this position, pressing your body on hers to keep her thrashing too much, until finally she gives up and slumps on you, crying. It's Bob; it's Marina; it's all her friends she may lose once she leaves school, and their networks and cliques and how she hasn't a place anywhere...

Then she looks up. 'Bob,' she says, neutrally.

> I'll save that roll since it seems undirected.

You pat Laura, trying your best not to use any of your powers on her, as Bob comes down and looks at her. Then you hear him sob, and see tears rolling down his eyes.

'I... I'm sorry Laura, I shouldn't have said that...' oh, maybe your powers leaked a little. Well, it's just as well. You turn on your obfuscate a bit, and then bid the two of them goodbye and walk back out into the streets.

As you pass by Lynn's, you first feel, and then hear, violin music from the flat. It's not Lynn, though, but one of her flatmates. Lynn herself... you suddenly see the interior of a church, with angels and antelope and lions and leaves...

Tina, too, is thinking of something Italian, but she's also chatting to a guy from the next flat. The whole flat seems quite arty, really!

> What do? You got more information, but you'll recall it as appropriate.
>>
>>19374462
Let's not bust in on them, it'd be kinda odd to just show up and we'll have plenty of time to pick Lynn's brain, both figuratively and literally, when we meet later.

Head to the bar, maybe Tamsin and Keri are still about.
>>
>>19374427

No worries, mate. Thanks for playing despite fatigue.

If Laura's traumas didn't sober us up completely, try to see if we can bring down our level of intoxication with our brain.
Try to jump on one leg in a straight line once before, count the number of successful jumps, then once again after, count again, see if we can make a differenc.
>>
>>19374516

Well, it's... a changing thing. But you just get this impression of a really big church, with insane amounts of decoration.

And then you see doors with big bronze panels, and sculptures and stuff. There's the sense that some theme underlies it...

Renaissance? What's that mean? Is that what they call those churches, renaissance...?

>>19374493
>>19374516

Well, Keri seems to have gotten bored and gone off, but Tamsin is still there with a new girl and two guys. One of the guys already has his arm on Tamsin's shoulder, though you sense that Tamsin would much rather he not do that. Or run his hand up and down her thigh.

Ah, pubs and alcohol... you're a bit apprehensive from seeing Laura's state, though, and not very much in the mood - for now. Tamsin sees in you a method of escape, though, and quickly jumps up and gets you to the table.

'Now now, look at our catch!' She says, laughing. 'You took so long that Keri went off, and so I've had to get them, see?'

'That's mean, Tam!'

> What do/say?
>>
>>19374593
Had to make sure she was doing okay before I wandered back, and if Keri isn't patient enough to wait for me that's her loss.

So who is everyone, I don't think we've been introduced. I'm Dylan by the way.
>>
>>19374593
Well, if she wants to escape, I think it's our gentlemanly duty to oblige her.

After all, we are a bit of a sucker for saving pretty girls from bad situations that we're partially to blame for in the first place.
>>
>>19374593
Hey guys, I'm dylan. So you're Tam ? You look nicer than mean to me.
>>
>>19374691
We've already met her. I think.
>>
>>19374631
>>19374661

Tamsin laughs, a bright and raucous laugh, as she pulls you to the table and sets a drink before you. 'Amaretto, go ahead, it's lovely!'

You then get introduced. The other girl, who's got dinner-plate eyes and bright green contacts, is called Hyo. The guys are Patrick, the touchy feely one, and Des.

Patrick quickly resumes his hand on shoulder routine, and Tamsin's mind tries to resist slapping him. He must have some power over her if she's not reacting at all...

'Anyway, so... what course are you from then?' Des points at you with a french fry. 'We do anthropology, the lot of us here...'

That explains the occasional flashes of tribal imagery and large, straw-roofed houses. These guys seem rather cool. Des and Patrick have both been to Central Asia for fieldwork, as you can quickly glean - they're pretty proud of these things and put them front and centre...

> What do/say?
>>
>>19374716
Yeah, but she didn't tell us her name.
>>
>>19374755

Oh, that's true.

Is there any way we can talk to her separately? Or maybe use our brain to warn Patrick off?
>>
>>19374741
Oh, I'm not in college. And not in high school either.
Just a minor trying to invite attempts at corruption.
>>
>>19374741
I'm not currently in college, thinking about going in the near future though.

Don't say that we're a minor.
>>
>>19374741
I guess we could say that we're not actually in college at the moment, but we're interested in it for next year and already living in the area?
>>
>>19374741
Hm...
Just chat, let them lead the conversation. Don't drink too much. Are they all in the same year ? What did Tam do for fieldwork ?

>>19374796
Better not use psionic influence when it's not necessary.
>>
>>19374798
>>19374832

'Near future? So you must be in your last year then, eh? Oh god, happy days!'

'I guess, yeah,' you say, but quickly realise it's not the answer they want. They laugh.

'You must be a tough guy to say that the last year of highschool is happy days, mate,' Patrick says. 'It's still better than uni, though.'

'College is way better than work, though,' Tamsin says. A moment of apprehension follows.

>>19374796

You'll have to roll for brainwork. But you could always pry Tamsin away without that if you want to try.

What do you want to talk to her about? She's just talking random stuff now and Pat's bringing up another story about Kazakhstan to try and impress her. You can sense the very much one-sided, and very much one-dimensional, game plan here.

>>
>>19374888
>>19374863

'No, not next year sadly... the September after next.'

'Awww, we'd be out by then! And probably out on our arses!'

'Not me,' Patrick says, 'I've got my dissertation to write...'

You manage to glean that Patrick is a post-grad, whatever that means, while the other three are from in their second year. They all take classes on African cultures, and East Asia as well. Anthropology sounds quite interesting, really, the more you hear about it.

Tamsin did her fieldwork last summer in Japan, and now she's wondering if she should go back this summer - won't be long now - for another go. 'I mean, it's Japan, right? Never complain about Japan!'

'You're just a weeaboo, man.'

'And you're e memetic freak, Des!' Hyo punches his shoulder. 'Why not come to Korea, I could ask my parents to let you stay!'

'Maybe, maybe...' Tamsin smiles, then looks at you. It's clear she thinks you're handsome. You have been unwittingly turning on your glamour again, you realise. 'So... what course are you into?'

> What do/say?
>>
>>19374884
Hmm, we should get Tam away from Pat somehow, I advise against brain powers unless necessary, we'll probably explode his head or make him completely unattracted to women if we do anything like that.

>>19375028

'Oh, art! And psych! You like the crazies!' Des chuckles. 'The art guys are cool, though.'

You nod and laugh along, as they talk about the courses. They think sociology's bad, politics could be interesting. If only there was political anthropology, that'd be awesome...

Des and Hyo aren't together - Hyo's got a boyfriend, but he's already working. Des doesn't seem to want to reveal anything about those aspects of life - maybe there was trauma or something recently...

>>19374991
>>19375005

You whisper in Tam's ear and she chuckles and turns, nearly kissing your cheek. 'I can't... complicated...'

Well, it's something to do with family. Yes, Patrick has a certain amount of power over Tamsin it seems, via their parents...

Tamsin says she's been practicing kyudo a lot, and her arms are sore. 'It's like, archery, Japanese archery...'

'Man, you're really into that. Me I just cook stuff at home,' Hyo says, and laughs. 'Des, I still owe you a dinner!'

'After that souffle of exploding death? Bloody well yes!'

Well, we can stick around here for a while longer; social activity is good for our powers. Cut ourselves off from further drinking, since we're already showing some effects. Converse with them more, try to get them to tell funny stories about one another and just generally share more information about themselves. They'll want to leave eventually, and in the meantime we can learn more about them and soak up mind juice from the people around us.

Okay don't know why you did that but whatever. You know we could have just left if that was your goal.

Let's finish our drink slowly, then tell them with a smile and a yawn that we've got to go home. Ask Tamsin if she wants to come.

> Due to general sentiment, won't take the roll. No worries.

You mostly sit and listen as they exchange stories. It's clear that three of them have been friends for a long time - well, two years is pretty long - and so their conversation is peppered with inside jokes. Amusingly, with your powers you can pick out the source of how their references came to be - but you have no idea what the references are.

'Oh come on, that's just such a Ni! Ni! situation it's not even funny,' Hyo says.

'NI! NI! We are the kniiiights!' Guffaws around the table. You know this one - someone they knew got caught with a girl, standing against a tree, with her on his shoulders. But what the hell does ni, ni mean...

Also, you get the sense that Tamsin is quite into sports, actually. She's part of the college's kayaking team, for instance, and a swimmer as well. Well, it shows. You wonder how to help pry her off of Pat - who is, by the way, very much out of the circle of friends as you can tell. He's just here for Tamsin, you can tell...

'Wait. Wait.' Des pauses the table. 'What day's today?'

'Monday, mate.'

'Fuck shit bollocks on toast I've got a presentation tomorrow!' You can't help but laugh yourself as he hurriedly says goodbyes and gets out of the pub, and then Pat turns to Tam.

'Shall I drive you?'

Hyo glances at you, and you can hear the mental cry for help on behalf of a friend. You guys sure are buddies!

> What do/say? Action time!
>>
>>19375313

That's 'shall I drive you back to the hostel', to clarify. Driving is a pretty ambiguous verb I suppose.
>>
>>19375313

Tsk, tsk. Let's not be subtle then.

'Actually, shall we go have a post-pub snack, Tam? And Hyo as well? I know a place just down the road...'
>>
>>19375313
"What, this early? There's plenty of night left and a whole city out there waiting for us- unless you've got presentations tomorrow too?"

It's not a perfect play, but it at least gives Tamsin a chance to delay the issue a bit.
>>
>>19375313
I suspect she wants subtlety, but I haven't got any idea of a good excuse for her.
So just say we have to go too, that we don't live far, and ask Tam if she wants to stay at our place.
>>
>>19375313
You aren't leaving just yet are you Tam? I haven't even gotten a chance to show you the best deli around.
>>
>>19375389
>>19375402
>>19375405

The great thing about being a Psych in such a situation? You can cheat a bit. You add a little force to your words as you reach for Tam's arm - woah, it's as toned as one might expect from a swimmer. Well.

'You're leaving so early, Tam? I was just about to ask you out for some ice cream down the road.'

'Ice cream, eh?' She turns round to you, thinking. You can hear her brain going 'COME UP WITH MORE PLEASE'. Uh, um...

'Yeah, ice cream! That place, um... Antonio's!' You don't know why, but these days all the nice ice cream joints are Italian. Whatever, eh? 'Unless you've got a presentation on tomorrow?'

'I haven't. But you've got work tomorrow haven't you, Pat?'

'I've got a bit, yeah...' he frowns at you. 'I think later tomorrow I'm meeting your dad, actually. Well, no matter - I better go prepare for that meet. I'll see you ladies around then...'

Well, good success. Hyo punches you in the shoulder, in a congratulatory way, as Tam sighs. 'Tam, seriously, tell him to fuck off. He's just inserted himself in here tonight... and that wasn't the only insertion he was thinking of I bet.'

'Yeah, cheers Hyo...' Tam turns to you. 'Is there actually ice cream?'

> What do/say?
>>
>>19375454
"Well, this city is pretty big. There's probably at least one ice cream place called Antonio's in it. You want to go looking?"
>>
>>19375454
Well I have no clue about Antonio's, but there's a damn nice Deli nearby and I've got a couple tubs of ice cream back home if you want some that badly.
>>
>>19375454
"Not really but now I'm totally in the mood for ice cream."
>>
>>19375454
Well there just might be. I seem to remember there was.

Strange that there's still people you can't say no to. I thought that was something of the past in this neighbourhood.
>>

Actually, don't say that aloud.

'You can still eat, really?' Hyo shakes her head. 'Okay. I'm shaking my head ten degrees, and the world is moving twenty degrees. And I'm not even at a club. I better go.'

'No ice cream for you?'

'Diet, diet!' She hardly looks like the sort who needs a diet, petite as she is. Funnily enough, despite her slightly freakish make-up, Hyo sounds pretty cool. You couldn't really see a lot of her thoughts though, seeing as they were in Korean. 'See you around. Tonight or tomorrow...'

There was a mental wink there, or a physical one, at you. You have noticed Hyo staring at your face, especially your ears, a lot.

'Let's go...'

You manage to find an ice cream place, but it isn't called Antonio's. Instead it advertises Turkish ice cream. Tamsin, teetering a little on her moderately high heels, says she can't decide if it's here or your place. She says 'your place' with emphasis...

> What do? Also, regarding sobering yourself - with your self-control, you've managed to get yourself mostly back in working order now.
>>
>>19375544
>>19375501

If you'd like to mental dig a bit more, do roll. Her mind is a bit fogged with alcohol now, so she's quite susceptible to digging.
>>
>>19375557
If our crazy mind-reading powers indicate that the lady wishes to come back to our place, how can we say no?

Perhaps pick up some ice cream and eat it on the way. Hate to waste spending all that time looking, after all.
>>
>>19375557
I suppose they make takeaway stuff, we can go back to my place. But are they even open at this hour ?
>>
>>19375603
Oh well, then use that leftover 99 to explore her mind. Be careful not to knock anything down while we're visiting.

Money:
> $1,280 in bank, $90 in hand

You buy a tub of vanilla - Tam's idea - and then, Tam's idea again, you end up buying two large doner takeaways. 'Are you that hungry, Tamsin?'

'Nah, just to soak it all up,' she then grins at you. 'Hey, you called me Tamsin.'

'Is that bad?'

'No, no, I like Tamsin. Tam's okay. Tammy is terrible. There's like three Tammies in school already. So where're we going? To your place? You don't waste time, do you?'

'What? What do you mean?' She slaps you lightly. She likes doing that...

The two of you are uncomfortably quiet in the elevator, and then on the walk to your flat. Tamsin blinks as she walks in while you struggle with your shoes and the kebabs. 'Wha... you live here? This is gorgeous.'

> What do/say?

Tamsin turns to you as you tell her the truth. 'You're such an honest Joe! See, when a girl asks you if this is your place, lie to her and say yes. It turns her on even more, you know?'

'But it's not true...'

'Yeah, I figure you haven't been to college,' she shakes her head. You take her around the house a bit - the kitchen, the dining room, *why* did you show her the toilet Dylan - and end with your room. She sniffs the air and then moves your computer mouse. 'Huh. Not porn.'

'I don't watch porn.'

'So you're not such an honest Joe anymore, eh?'

With that you adjourn to the living room for food. Given that Tam is wearing a short black and gold dress she has to sit demurely, but her eating isn't exactly demure, attacking it with her hands. You try to figure out a bit more about her family... it runs a small shop, you reckon. That isn't doing very well... so Patrick is probably... a benefactor of some sort? That sounds a bit complicated...

'So, what's your story?' Tam looks at you, wiping her mouth. 'What do you normally do in the day? I don't know why I find you cute, actually. But... somehow... a bit... yeah.'

She smiles as you blush a little.

> What do/say?
>>
>>19375822

'Tamsin? I don't know man. Dad was into a singer with that name, if I remember right.'

Seeing her eat makes you feel strangely happy, taking the emanations in. It's like... eating with such gusto, that's what it is. It isn't very tidy, though; there's bits of lettuce and mayo on the coffee table. You'll have to clean that, or Numsang will throw a fit.
>>
>>19375854
Avoid the what's your story question, no need to bring that up or make a lie that could fall apart.

Oh this and that, wander around, indulge in hobbies, hang out with people, get myself prepared for going to college. Nothing much.
>>
>>19375854
I don't do much these days. I'm not actually in high school, I hope to pass the exams on my own. Before that, I wander around trying to find ADVENTURE.
>>
>>19375854
Take a moment to go to the bathroom and check our glamour.
>>
>>19375854
I'm not really honest, but I try to be careful with my lies: I think I'd have a hard passing for a rich kid for too long.
>>
>>19375936
>>19375950

You consciously avoid talking about stories, but Tamsin's clever. Or maybe just conventional for a Cherdon native. 'So which highschool did you go to?'

'Highschool? Yeah, that... well I'm not in a highschool now. Going to try and take the Standards myself.'

'Huh! Really...' she sits back and tilts a handful of kebab into her mouth. That seems like trying a bit too hard given you're already in a possible endgame. 'So what do you do in your free time?'

'Nothing much... wander around, hang out with friends, look for adventure.'

'There's plenty of adventure to be had, I'm sure,' her voice gets lower. Then she gets up to wash her hands, and you nip into the toilet. To be honest... you can see through yourself, so you can't really see how your glamour works.

You do know it's up but fading a bit, though; it could be reinforced, if you want. Tam's humming a tune as she washes her hands; you hear a whisper of thoughts wondering why she's here with a stranger. Even Patrick's better, right? At least she knows him?

> What do/say?

>>
>>19376022
Don't bother reinforcing the glamor, no real need to.

Wander back to Tamsin and talk some more with her.
>>
>>19376022
Meh don't bother reinforcing it and it looks like she having second thoughts about this whole thing. Might end up with Dylan using a cold shower to calm himself down
>>
>>19376022
Nah, don't reinforce it. I feel a little bad about enticing this girl with mind powers, so I'd rather not force things further that way. Let's just wait see her decision.

Asl her if she lives far from here.
>>
>>19376022
Reinforcing our glamour is... hrm. You know, I don't think I'm going to worry about the ethics of this situation. We need friends and contacts, and keeping our glamour running is the best way to do that. Firm it up, but not too much.

If we can nudge her mind- gently, gently- toward thinking that someone she just met but who seems cute, friendly, and not overbearing- not to mention is a fairly nice guy, given how careful he was to treat his friends/date(s?) earlier right- is actually upon reflection a hell of a lot better than Patrick, not in the least because she can leave the experience without looking back any time she wants to... well, that wouldn't be half bad either.
>>
>>19376128
Or we could try our hand at porn once again.
>>
>>19376022
Is there any risk of the busted lip showing up
>>
>>19376147
I think we should find people that we don't need glamour or mind control to befriend. I think quality is better than quantity regarding our relationships.
>>
>>19376193
I agree that we shouldn't be rampantly shoving love for us into others' brains. However, mental powers are a part of who we are, now; using them lightly to encourage a relationship to flourish is something that we not only can but should accept as a normal part of our social relationships with non-psychics.
>>
>>19376118

Hmm... you start thinking about it for a bit before stopping. You honestly have no idea what you're looking like to her, and somehow looking different to get laid seems a bit... dishonourable.

Well, virtue is its own reward, eh.

>>19376132
>>19376126
>>19376128

You get back out, and Tamsin's sitting back at the couch, her legs crossed, eating ice cream. 'I got a spoon here,' she says, and as you go closer you sense that she seems to have dispelled those doubts and appears more resolved.

As you eat the ice cream - ooh, it's not bad actually, it's really thick, gooey stuff - she uses her body to bump you once, twice, and chuckles. 'You feeling a little awkward? You feel a bit tense.'

'Um... I guess? Well, do you live far from here?'

'Not really, in the hostels at Saffron. But it's dark, and walking by the lakeside is tiring... anyway, what's with your hand?' She's looking at the scalded hand, then she looks up at your face. 'Wait. What's with your lip?'

'Eh?' And then you feel a sudden, piercing pain in your lip. Ah, well done Dylan, you've opened the bloody wound! How'd you even manage that?!

> What do/say?
>>
>>19376193
There's three reasons for that. First, our ego : it's nicer to be liked by people you're being open to. Second, ethics. And third, the less effort we have to provide to keep our friends, the less chance we have to eventually lose control or make mistakes.
>>
>>19376220

Agree with this, personally. Using brain powers just to get sex all the time is sleazy. But if we already use it to see what friends are concerned about, then a bit of nudging and comforting isn't too bad... depends how much nudging there is of course.
>>
>>19376231

As you wonder what you have to do, Tamsin laughs, and you soon realise why. Your right hand is holding the ice cream spoon against your face, and melty cream is now running down to your nose.

Gah, Dylan! Ow fuck!

'Oh god you're bleeding again,' Tam says. You try to wipe the wound, flailing about as you consider glamour but resist, and then you feel her hands around your face. As the blood flows over your fingers you see her lean forward, and lick the ice cream from your face, in a long trail from nose to forehead...

'Eh?'

'I... don't know why I did that actually,' she blinks.

Bloody hell, sorry, it's me indeed.

'Yeah, well, it's ice cream,' you say, still wiping your lip. Now there's blood all over your fingers, and you're not sure where you can put your hands - not on your clothes, and please don't put them on Numsang's couch...

'It's ice cream, yeah,' she says, looking intently at you. 'So you'd do that too? If it was ice cream?'

Tamsin dabs a little of the vanilla ice cream on her collarbone. You feel the same hunger from just now shining from her. Do you like feeding on human arousal? It feels... like a risky flavour, though it's probably easier to be a fuckbuddy than a muse...

There are much worse flavors, stable sources aren't the hardest to acquire, it isn't harmful like fear, and there are fringe benefits to it. We can get a more varied diet by spending time with Lynn to help her out with the festival.

Let the ice cream melt down for just a few seconds before liking it up.

I'd do this even if there wasn't any ice cream.
>>
>>19381047

It sounds appealing, but somehow has the potential to be really harmful.

>>
>>19381047

>>
>>19381073
>>19381084

Well you could be both - a lot of muses have sexual relationships with their... musees? But that's additional layers of complication, see.

It's still early days, but well - if you decide you like arousal, that's fine. You're turning out to be a sort of Spring/Summer person, between loving creative thoughts and sex. Which is fine.

As for blood, well, it's a surprising bit considering your lip only got a little stung... you move over to grab the box of tissues from the coffee table as Tamsin stretches her legs over yours. Even after wiping, you smudge blood over her collarbone as you lick the ice cream off. She sighs happily and lies back, throwing her arms over her head.

'I... you're a funny case,' she says, dreamily. Her horniness isn't completely blocking out those other voices in her. 'I don't even like youngsters... did you drug me?'

She then giggles as you deny it.

'Oh, also...' she fumbles a dress strap off her shoulder, 'you got any condoms? I don't... don't really like it bareback...'

> What do? You... no, you don't have condoms actually. And you've been banging Laura, you!
>>

She laughs, and puts a foot on your shoulder as she shrugs the dress off. She's definitely got an athletic build, about which you have no complaints.

'Let's take turns. Get the ice cream.'

Get up, it's anger we should probably investigate a bit more before we go and talk to her about it.

Do a very light, very careful sweep to see if we can find where the anger leads, do not press hard but try to find out if the source is us, her, or something more esoteric. Also try to find out if she would be mad if we went over there.
>>
rolled 89 = 89

>>19381283
Okay, we need to keep calm and ever so carefully feel at Tamsin's mind for how she's feeling right now. Is she angry at herself, for sleeping with us? At us, for inexplicably seducing her (she mentioned a suspicion of drugs earlier)? At someone else that she's worked herself up into?

Either way, since we want her to leave our apartment feeling like this was a positive experience, we should probably try to gradually soothe her emotions- not strongly, but guide her thoughts gently in more positive directions and slowly melt her anger away over the course of her shower, so that by the time she gets out she's feeling all right.

Be delicate and careful. A light touch is needed; better to do too little than too much.

> Nice roll.

You get up, wear your pants, and go to the bathroom door quietly, while feeling out the contents of the mind inside. It seems to be a mixture of confusion at how it got to this, and anger at you for possibly seducing her.

And yet there's also something about dissertations mixed in there, and also how the guys at the Athletic Clubs are just such douchebags... she seems more confused than angry at you now, so you take a calculated risk and knock on the door.

'Fuck off.'

'It's... Dylan.'

'Fuck off!' But you wait a little, and then the door opens. She's wearing a towel, her hair and face wet - water, though, not tears. You don't think. 'What... wait. How did you get me in here, Patrick? You bastard! I... I didn't even drink that much! Damnit, I've got work to do too...'

Man, it's hard to figure people out like these. Because they do a lot of thinking, they are very good at masking and filtering as well. You can be sure she's not mainly directing her wrath at you though - which is a good thing.

> What do/say?
>>
>>19381397
Tamsin, would you like to sit down and have a cup of tea? You seem a bit stressed and confused.

I'm not Patrick, I'm Dylan and Patrick didn't have anything to do with you coming over here.
>>
>>19381397
Okay, so she's just drunk and her thoughts are mostly incoherent, then? They certainly don't seem particularly together, but she didn't strike me as having serious issues earlier... so hopefully just drunk. Let's try to just play this fairly nice and get her to a hopefully contented rest. We've got a very nice bed, after all, and she probably doesn't want to go home at three in the morning while drunk. Send out light good vibes if we can.

"Patr- I'm Dylan, Tamsin! I just wanted to know if you want an alarm set for any particular time tomorrow."
>>
>>19381448
A light tone might be nice
>>
>>19381435
>>19381448

'Nono, don't touch me!' She shouts as you approach, so you back off.

'Tamsin. Tamsin? I'm not Patrick, man, I'm Dylan. Patrick's buggered off, remember?'

'Patrick's buggered off?' She shrinks against the sink, pulling her towel tighter. 'So who the hell are you... oh. Oh. You're Dylan. You're ice cream licker guy.'

Well, as epithets go... 'Yeah, that's me, um, ice cream licker guy. Busted lip guy? Clumsy guy?'

That breaks the tension, and she bursts into a fit of giggles, running her hand through her hair. 'Yeah... yeah no, sorry, I didn't know... what on earth was I talking about, Dylan? We... yeah, I think I saw how nice the flat was and got panicky about Patrick.' You sense she's thinking rather hard about Patrick now. There's a bit of revulsion in there, but also... desire? Wait, what?

'So, um... well. I was just going to ask if you want to crash in the bed, and whether you had classes on tomorrow or something.'

'I've only got afternoon classes...' then she glances at her cellphone on the sink. 'Wait. Oh wait. Oh shit!'

'What? What?'

'I think... I think I called someone asking for help actually, just now. I had a bit of a panic attack...'

> What do/say?
>>
>>19381482
Who did you call? How long was the conversation Why is your phone in the sink?

Ok, well I'd rather be able to explain it to them when they come over, so why don't I put on a pot of herbal tea for us and our incoming guest and you put on some clothes so they don't panic the moment they come in.
>>
>>19381482
"You're not sure? Check the call history and see who it was. Any idea what you said?"
>>
>>19381482
Um who did you call and can you call them back to explain what happen? I don't want people busting down doors to this place with the wrong idea.
>>
>>19381503
>>19381498

She goes to check it while you go and get her dress and knickers, and stand outside the bathroom until she says she's dressed. 'Yeah, so... you called anyone?'

'Yeah. Like, three of the Saffron ruggers.'

Oh, bloody excellent Tamsin! 'Blimey. Three?'

'Sorry! I... I was in a panic!' She scratches her head. 'I don't... well, I don't know where this place is, so it's okay though-' then she checks her text. 'Wait. How did they know I'm here?'

You take a look at the phone. Huh! She's texted one of the ruggers with your address. 'Right. Right. I'll... how about you wash your face and all, I'll go clean up the hall, and then we can talk nicely, yeah?'

'O-okay...'

You clean up the coffee table hastily, and the floor too, and you're just about done when suddenly you feel a pair of presences. What's strange, though, is that it's not concern that is moving them... but anger. The anger is so loud it drowns out Tamsin in a moment. There's something unnatural about this, it's for sure...

*ding dong* Oh shit.

> What do/say?
>>
>>19381509

Oh, while you're cleaning, Tamsin has been trying to call them. But she says they're not picking up the phone.

Well, moot bloody point now! At least she's freshened up and straightened out, but you're not sure what's going on...
>>
>>19381531

>>
>>19381531

>>19381531
Man, how did she even know our address? She came here drunk and amorous, not keenly attentive to detail! And it's not like we have mail lying around to read.

Anyway, I don't like the level of hostility we've got incoming. Get a better idea of what's causing their anger before that door opens.
>>
>>19381531
While it may be an unnatural amount of anger I'd rather not try to counter with our own mind powers unless absolutely necessary, it could blow up spectacularly in our face.

We should do some light surface probing to see what is causing the anger outside of the call, if these two are the rugby players, and so on.

We have Tamsin open the door, see if there are any changes to their anger on seeing she's alright and continue our investigation of their brainmeats.
>>
>>19381572
This sounds great but we need a roll with that I guess we could use the 74
>>
>>19381584
I should have mentioned that I wanted to put it on the 74, it's at a nice point. It's high enough for a good success most of the time, it's low enough to not screw us over by succeeding too much.
>>
>>19381539
>>19381545
>>19381550
>>19381559

You have no idea how she knew your address! She might have perhaps gone out to see - but if so, why would she be running back in here to get angry at people then?

Well, anyway, first things first...

> I'm taking that 74!

Tamsin agrees, and opens the door while you put the herbal tea on the coffee table. 'Hey! Hey there-'

'Out of the way, bitch.'

Fortunately Tamsin is sober enough to dodge out of the swing - it would probably have knocked her out, and you are quite shocked by how hard that punch was. What the fuck?

And then you sense, deep within both of the rugby players, something ticking and whirring away. It's a strange sound for a brain to make, but quite normal for a machine... a creation?

'Dude? Hey! Help-OWW!' Tamsin tries to dodge again, but this time the rugger's grabbed her hair. The other guy turns to you, then slams the door closed and cracks his knuckles. You try an initial push to see what's making him so angry, but beyond the whirring he pushes back violently at your attempts...

You also feel an attempt to probe your brain, though it's so blunt it's more like an attempt to punch it. You swat one away, and another, but they're coming even as he bears down on you.

> 87 vs. 61: success!

You don't like fighting, but dodging is something you're very good at as a hobo. You advance on him to give yourself more space, then dodge inwards to close the distance as he swings and unbalances himself.

'Fucking-' You barrel into him, shoulder first, feeling his arms closing around your shoulder; but you slip out of that as well, shoving him into a wall so loudly the nearby bookshelf rattles.

> 82 vs. 82: draw!

Moving back again, you turn to see Tamsin; she's clutching on to the table counter, shrieking, as the rugger tugs on her hair. 'Oi! Fuck off, you!'

He looks up at you, then moves around the counter; but just as you think that's good for Tam's hair at least, he then lifts his hand, pulling her upright as she cries out. You know exactly what the hell he's trying to do, and quickly move towards them as you throw a mental punch right at the centre of the machine running him now.

For a moment, too, you thought you got him. His face fades into one of confusion, but it's only for a moment, before he pulls on the hair and makes to slam her face down. Thankfully the moment is just what Tam needs; she shields the impact with her hands, and then you rush the second guy as well, pushing him into the kitchen.

'You stinking son of a *bitch*!' the other player comes up behind you... and then you hear a yelp, and a loud thud. And then a sickening crack as something probably hit someone's head...

> What do? You've got one rugger in front, presumably one rugger behind, but at least Tamsin's free...

You turn around and see the guy you shoved into a wall, with Tamsin holding an umbrella like a club, ready to hit him again. He's already got a nasty bruise on his eye, but you sense that Tam herself is being held by some rage.

Moving quickly, you push into the rugger's brain and kick the bottom out of the machine, and the rugger gives a loud shout and goes limp. Tam turns to you. 'WATCH-'

Oof. You feel your lip split open again, along with your nose this time, as a great force takes you down from behind right into the parquet flooring. Your right ear's gone deaf; with your left you can hear a shout, and then another crack of umbrella on head. Then another, then another, as Tamsin swears.

'Fucking.... Duke? DUKE! WAKE THE FUCK UP!' She kicks Duke the rugger off your back, and you hear a moan as Tam kneels beside you. Ooh, look at them legs... heh, she's bending over, lookit that... wait, where were we? Gubuhhhh...

We take their phones wipe their calls and texts with Tamsin. Then we place them somewhere outside where drunk ruggers would fall over.

We do not want this to connect back to us like this.

'Dylan? Dylan! You all right? Oh god you're bleeding all over the face.'

You get to your feet, before feeling a rush of dizziness, and realising how much energy you had expended in that single fight. Dear god, how long do mental fights last for other Psychs? The fact that it's 3 in the morning and everyone's asleep does not help with replenishment.

'Yeah, I'm fine.' You don't feel pain, though you probably should. Tamsin wipes your face, while looking at the ruggers. One of them is still conscious. 'Is that Duke?'

'Yeah. Duke? What the hell's going on?'

'Argh... where's this... oh hey, Tam... uh...' he clutches his head. You quickly sense that he does not remember anything after about an hour ago... which is after Tam called them. Something's overtaken them and made them come here. Did that something also overtake Tam and make her lead them here?

Hastily, you wipe the phone calls and messages from their phones, as Duke tries to sit up. Tam nods, and agrees you should get rid of them somewhere... but where?

......

It's nearly 5 in the morning by the time you have the two sprawled on the sidewalk, with two broken bottles of wine. The sky's already beginning to get a little light, and Tamsin moans as she stretches.

'Man... I'm sorry, Dylan. I had no idea... actually, I have no idea what happened. They tried to hit *me*, didn't they?!'

> What do/say? Try to search their unconscious minds, or recall their minds for insight?

If you mean by "tried" in that they succeeded in hitting you then yeah. Fuck I'm all sorts of mess up right now. (By the way how bad do we look we might have to go to the hospital. They did hit us hard enough to the point where we could have been knocked out.)
>>
>>19381813
Yes to probing their headmeats. These guys are a damn good lead for a creation and we need to find who is making them. Being unconscious ought to make our life easier on this count.

As for talking to Tamsin, they did hit you and they hit me. They didn't seem all that right. Maybe they were drinking or did some drugs, forgive me if I'm wrong but that doesn't seem like their normal behavior.

> No need to roll; the 94 + 97 works for that. You're recalling what you dug out from them now.

So... this is what a Creation looks and feels like. It is as if someone's mind is taken over by a single overriding cause, which in their case appears to have been violence - nothing else, no sex or money, just bashing someone's head in.

Well, that's really pleasant if someone was doing it to help Tamsin. Didn't expect they might kill her too, eh? Or... or maybe that's the intention? You try to trace their memories, and see that right about where it ends is as they're piling into a car. You hear, quite clearly, one of them go 'Patrick's? Or Lenny's?'

Either of them might have... but wait, Lena's said before that Creations can't be controlled, except by Psychs. And that mostly it's the Bestowed, and the Winters, who do it. You're pretty sure Patrick is not a Psych, unless he is really good at obfuscation... well...

'Hey, what're you thinking?' Tam puts a hand on your shoulder. You see she's got a slight bruise on her cheek, but nothing too serious.

'Oh, nothing much. A bit dazed. And yes, they hit both of us, not tried. Hit.'

'They've gone nuts,' she mutters.

'Yeah. Let's go back and have a good sleep,' you say, rubbing your head. You wonder if Psychs can have concussions. But you don't feel concussed, just... tired, and trying hard not to drain Tam too much.

'What, we going back and having a good sleep?' Tam smiles. She's still thinking of that? Really?

> What do/say?

'Wha? No, dude, I wasn't thinking of *that*! I was just wondering if you don't mind me sleeping at yours.'

Oh. Well... 'oh, that's fine. There's like, three other bedrooms. But you should note in your phone that I'm Dylan, and don't summon ruggers to my place please.'

She laughs, and stops at a convenience store. You see the rows of condoms, but she simply buys milk and eggs. Well you haven't got those.

When you get back up, you collapse into bed face first. Oh wait, you'll have to call Kev don't you? Or Lena? You do wonder how Lena is... she's been quiet for a bit long.

Tamsin is in her pyjamas and already snoring in the bedroom next to yours.

Kevin sounds concerned. 'Do you suspect they're being controlled?'

'Yeah... well, what counts as control?'

'They came directly for your place, right? Also, how did they know your place?'

'Tamsin...' ah, shit. You explain the whole thing to Kevin.

'So the Tamsin girl told them as well? That... ah, shit. Dylan, that girl might also be under control of some sort.'

'What do you mean?'

'It's not something we FreeComm Psychs do - well, not regularly and on such a scale - but Bestowed Psychs often do control people for the long term. They call it Husbandry, treat it as a sort of skill for getting the thoughts they want. Did you cross anyone? Sense any strange emanations this evening? Nothing from Tamsin?'

> What do/say? Bring to attention what seems important to you.

The strangest thing was her feeling desire for Patrick right?

There was this bloke named Patrick, third year Anthropology student, he didn't twig my Psych sense though. He was possessive of Tamsin, and she had a strange feeling of revulsion and desire towards him.
>>
>>19381981
Yeah even though she hates him but the could be nothing. We could still mention it to Kevin but we didn't feel like Patrick was a psyche though at all so this "evidence" doesn't hold a lot of ground. >>
>>19381971
She also had a panic attack about Patrick
>>
>>19382001
Oh yeah, mention Lenny as well, say we don't have anything on him but his name came up in the Ruggers' headmeats. We'll ask Tamsin about him in the morning. We'll say we saw the name up high in the Ruggers recently called list and were wondering about him.

Also tell Kev about her panic attack/freakout.
>>
>>19381981
>>19382000

'Yeah... there's this guy called Patrick. Was with her at the pub, and he was quite possessive of her. Very touchy-feely too. But somehow I could feel both revulsion and desire from her, for him.'

'Oh dear. Patrick, you say? I don't remember a Patrick from your area...' Kevin muses. 'Autumn would know better than me, I don't do Psychs. How about this. I'll get Lena to go over to yours later, just to see what's going on?'

'Ah... sure thing.'

'Also, keep Tamsin in until Lena comes around. She might be... she might be getting enthralled.'

'Okay. Sure...'

Kev hangs up and you spent a few more minutes figuring what the sleeping Tamsin thinks of you. You find she thinks you're short. Which you actually are; you've never had enough food for a growth spurt on the streets, and she's slightly taller than you. But she thinks you're a gentleman, and that it'd be nice to hang out with you.

When you wake up again, it's to the voice of two women talking outside. Opening the door you see Tamsin, talking to Lena. 'Hey, Dylan,' Lena says without turning around. You then look again and notice that Lena's got her arm in a cast.

'Morning, Dylan. Lena's come round with breakfast!'

Now, aren't they getting along famously.

> What do/say?

>>19382076

'Hey Lena, hey Tamsin.' Tam looks cute in kitten-print pyjamas. 'I could do breakfast, yeah, thanks.'

Lena gets up to help you in the kitchen, and she nudges your shoulder. 'Score? Result?'

'Kinda,' you say, smiling. Lena boffs your head.

'You've been using your powers for all sorts of lascivious purposes since the first day, dude!'

'Yeah, yeah... what happened to your arm?'

'Work. Well, a fight. Against human hunters and some Creations.' It's clearly not the only injury she has, you can tell; she's walking funny and there's a big bruise on her shoulder, reaching up to the back of her neck. 'So, this girl. You should know a bit of how this works. She's been enthralled, or corralled, whatever they call it these days. Someone is using her for sustenance, and creating mental dependencies so they go back to them.'

'Huh.' You think about Patrick, and Lena nods.

'Yeah, that's the guy. It's odd though. He's not on any of the Bestowed watch-lists. So he's either very new, or... he's unfathered, and manifested really really quietly.' Then Lena shrugs. 'Or maybe it isn't him. I think it is, but...'

'Hey, whatcha talking about?' Tamsin casually wraps an arm round your neck, leaning against you. Lena shoots you a dirty 'FreeComms don't corral people, Dylan' look.

> What do/say? Also, what do for today? Let's make some plans. It's a free day.
>>
>>19382114
We've been talking about you, Lena here wants all the juicy details and refuses to accept that a gentleman doesn't kiss and tell.

For today we should confer with the FreeComms and get more information on Creations, see if they have someone who can do some digital digging on Patrick and Lenny. Then follow up in person in a very careful manner.
>>
>>19382141

'That's very gentlemanly of you, Dylan,' Tamsin grins, and then plops a kiss on your cheek before walking off. Well, that's pleasant. Lena frowns.

'You like this girl?' She looks at you. 'What happened to that other high school girl?'

> What say?

You have a quiet breakfast, where Lena and Tamsin turn out to both like a lot of things. Archery... Japanese stuff... anthropology even! It turns out they also both like some very indie bands, including one which came from Saffron, as Tam points out proudly.

'Seriously? Blue Doo the Moo is from Saffron? I didn't know that!'

It's pleasant to just sit there and listen, and pick at Tamsin's thoughts. She's got a wider range of concerns, but her mind somehow seems more active than Laura's, less... heavy. Sadly her class is soon, so she's off.

You ask Lena about creations and stuff, and offer to help with Patrick and Lenny. But she shakes her head. 'Nah, Kev's asked you to do the highschool thing, so do that first. Any progress on that front? Apparently there's actually been a decrease in tension, it seems, and we're not sure if there will be an event. But it's best to be watchful, of course...'

> What do/say/ask?
>>
>>19382176
On the first one, Laura made it rather clear that we weren't going out, and Tamsin made it very clear that she was interested in sleeping with me. I like a great number of girls and if I'm not in a committed relationship I don't mind sleeping with those who offer themselves willingly sans coercion.

As for the highschool investigation, I have an in for the arts festival so I can show up and not be immediately suspect due to my gender, I found a girl, Lynn, who is creative as can be so I'm going to look into her and also check for other large emotional sources. I'll keep an eye on it of course.

'Are you sure you didn't influence this Tamsin girl?'

'No! Well, maybe a bit. But I didn't intend to!'

Lena nods. 'Well. I... have the feeling some residue of the enthrallment has stayed with her. That's interesting. Actually, it might be a good thing you brought her here, away from usual sleeping places...'

You then tell her about the Mayne Parish fair, which is probably when the Creation would take place. When you say you've found Lynn, and she's a massive power source, Lena nods.

'Not just Lynn. If she's as strong as you say, there'll be many strong thoughts around her as well. So keep an eye on her circle, and Laura's circle. Is that Marina girl still around?'

'I think she's gone off on holiday or something... Laura mentioned that.'

'Huh. That's neither here nor there...' She props her broken arm on the table. Poor Lena! She's even wearing jeans on a warm day - probably got bad bruises all over her legs or something. 'So... any more questions? How've you been? Interests, clubs, jobs...?'

Speaking of our weird brain powers do most Psychs specialize, and what do you specialize in if anything?

'Yeah, well... I've been... sleeping about I guess? Ow, Ow!'

Well, you know Lena's left arm is still as healthy and slap-capable as ever. She laughs. 'Anything else, mate?'

You then show her the sketches of Diego, the fruit basket, and Katarina in the park. 'That's nice, that,' Lena points at the park sketch. 'That's the park you used to sleep in, I'm guessing.'

'Yeah...'

Lena looks at you. 'You interested in being an artist, then? Or something like that? Tried any other interests? You'd be surprised the things Psychs can do once we've gotten used to stealing other people's thoughts...'

>>19382239

Lena thinks about it. 'Well, yeah, naturally. Some people are scouts, so they obfuscate and sense. Some focus on empathy, social dynamics - have you ever noticed how hard it is to get angry around Dawn? Then many focus on manipulation, like Numsang or Jinyu. There's even more esoteric stuff like dream-plumbing and inducing strange states of consciousness in others, though the FreeComm doesn't quite like that. It's partly the skills you learn, but also partly the use you decide to put them to.'

'What sort of combat is there?'

'Some use physical augmentation... that's me. Some use pure mind power for combat, stunning or inducing terror. And some, they control creations. A Creation that is under control is called a Familiar. But normally only the Great Cold Company, and the bestowed Psychs, use those - again, they involve fucking humans up, and we'd much rather not.'

> What do/say/ask? One more post before we end for now. You guys are awesome.

It's been remarkably moral sleeping around I'll note, and two girls does not constitute a slap. When I get to four I will have earned that.

So is it a you can leap tall buildings, run faster than a train that sort of thing, or is it more you can bring out your body's full potential of strength and gain absurd reflexes, reaction times and accuracy?

Given the way my life has been going I might want to learn how to fight from you, my experience tends towards running away.

So, how about some more details on that arm thingy, what exactly is a human hunter, and who did you go against to be up against a pile of creations?
>>
>>19382302
Second this due to the fact that I can't think of a thing due to how long I been awake

>learning to fight from Lena
Aren't we injured enough already?

Still, I second the rest of your post.
>>
>>19382329
I'm sure she won't break us that much, if goon attacks are going to be a part of our life we should learn. Also it won't happen for a while due to her injuries as well as our own.
>>

'Nah, I'm just joking. You're fine.' Lena smiles. 'Actually I was asking if you like that girl because it's pretty clear that physically she's not into you. I could tell. I'm guessing it's partly some glamour you must have done, and partly the residual enthrallment, that's made her more susceptible.'

Well, that's a downer. 'So... once she wakes up...?'

'No man, don't be so passive. You could always get her to like you the normal way. She thinks you're a gentleman already, which is a good step.'

'Is that so? Nice... so.' You ask her.

'Well. It's more of the waking up the body's reflexes. But of course, with enough training, one can surpass those limits even. Maybe not as fast as a small car, but I have climbed a four-storey building without any aid before.'

'As for the fight?'

'Yeah, well. See, the thing is, the old Psychs have not been kind to humans. We try to remedy that, but there are societies and beliefs we can't eliminate in the short term. They have seen that there are Psychs, and they can't back away from that knowledge, so some of them take up arms against us without much understanding of who's who. The sad thing was, I was fighting someone trying to take two FreeComms down - on the manipulation of a Bestower. That's seriously getting played, there... the bestower also supplied some reinforcements, and so I got my arm broken when I was flung against a wall.'

'Blimey. You should teach me how to fight.'

'Yeah, when I'm better. Or I could ask someone for you. We'll see...'

And with that you relax for a bit. Tamsin sends you a message asking if you're up for dinner. Hmm...

> What do/say? Okay, I'll end here for now, but do suggest - will cover in the next thread. Thanks for playing!
>>
>>19382339

Hmm. Let's say yes. Why not, eh?
>>
>>19382339
We need to get some sleep today. Lots and lots of sleep. We're forcing our body to work at past its normal potential while completely ignoring all existing injuries, which can't possibly be good for it- pain exists for a reason. Resting from now until dinner sounds appropriate. Then take a good look at ourselves- we might need to shore up our glamour a bit in order to go out in public without attracting tons of attention as "that beat up guy".

We should also spend a bit of time straightening up the apartment, because it's probably a little worse for wear after last night.
>>
>>19382919
We should go get condoms.

And instead of sleeping in an empty building, we'd better go have a nap in a park or someplace with people around. Maybe there's a nice grassy spot at Saffron.
>>
>>19383102
We could practice drawing once there too.

This is somewhat belated, but

> Not just Lynn. If she's as strong as you say, there'll be many strong thoughts around her as well. So keep an eye on her circle

Those feelings of jealousy that we were getting from Tina might be something to keep an eye on.

Also, it got mentioned a while back that a Creation often has a visual representation that goes along with it, that eases its, well, creation. When we first saw Lynn and company they were planning something for the fair, something involving a big sculpture of a bull, I think. That might be worth investigating.
