>>19458284In the grim darkness of the 41st millenium there is only war. Imperium of Man, once strong and proud, now is slowly crumbling, whole regions of space are lost to the horrors that lurk in the darkness of the void. Sector Deus is just one of thousands of Imperial provinces that form the frontline in the war to defend Humanity itself. Corruption from within and aggression from without threaten it. But Emperor sends us hope. High Lords of Terra commisioned a Chapter of Adeptus Astartes to defend this region of space. They are the last line of defence that hold Age of Ruin at bay. They are the Ghosts of Retribution.
>>19458294So, yesterday we had some nice roleplay in the chat with Brother Isaac after /tg/ broke down. Chapter Master ordered cleansing Varda and went on a pirate hunt that lasted 5 years. So, now it‘s 316.M41. Here‘s what changed in the meantime:Treaty of Tartarus signed – you granted exclusive trade rights for Dercius D‘anger, Rogue trader and 20 of his associate ordinary merchants.Tartarus discovered(Sub-Sector Cryptus)1 Favour point gained for discovering Fist of Judgement1 Favour point gained for killing Derkon the Red-Eye27 initiates recruited from Mormark82% of orks on Varda exterminated
>>19458318Reputation gained: Trustworthy(Merchants) – Anterion returned from his mission on Tachion PrimarisReputation gained: Saviours(People) – Chapter Master decided to free slaves liberated from the piratesEscort ‚Vanguard‘ bought from Adeptus Mechanicus for 90 Wealth7000 colonists recruited for the coming colonisation of VardaShadow Guard formed to protect the Chapter Master, it‘s leader – Renard. Other members are veterans from your previous engagements – Inirius, Sulix, Targos, Horim.Chapter Monastery is about to be finished in 317.M41Cleansing of Varda is expected to be finished around 318.M41Imperial fists have sent their emmissary to us to reclaim Fist of JudgementAdmiral Tyrel of Imperial Navy visited Mormark for refueling and expressed his wish to meet you again someday.Reputation gained: Useful(Imperial Navy) – you have cleared the Core Worlds from pirates, it‘s always good to have someone nearby who is doing you job.
Go on. And tell us more about the chapter.
Well that went well I must say. So what's the next course of action? The fortress monastery will be completed in another year. The orks will be fully purged in about two years if I remember correctly. The planet Varda was discovered to have large amounts of natural gas deposits, and we are currently speaking with the Ad Mech to begin construction of a refinery, with help from something like 7,000 slaves we rescued from the now dead pirate lord we'd been chasing for those 5 years. What do?

Ah, that's what I get for not constant refreshing. I would say we should greet the Imperial Fist emmissary, and make it a big show to give it back to them. Not rub it in their face that we managed to find it, but just wish them the best of luck and all that. Also, we should speak with Admiral Tyrel when the chance arises.
>>19458350We are a Raven Guard successor chapter. As of now we have...8 years of active duty? We are quite loyal, but some of our tactics could be seen as very "Alpha Legion" esque. We got the shit kicked out of us by orks recently. I think we're standing at 635 Battle Brothers at the moment, not including the new intiates.
This is the most current info for current standings of our chapter so far that I have, although the "standing battle brothers" should be somewhere at 635 or so. We got beat up pretty bad.
>>19458553updated chapter info. notice, that some of the vessels were damaged. you are currently on Mormark

>>19458726Well, I think the first order of business is to get our ships repaired, and meet with the Imperial Fist emmisary, and the Admiral.
Updated Sub-Sector Cryptus starmap.Varda changed from Red(Hostile) to Green(suitable for colonisation).Tartarus added. Tartarus is a minor system that is known for freely giving refugee to rogue captains, traders and sometimes even pirates. On paper this world swears fealty to the Imperium, but in practice(because of some deep connections within Administratum) they are almost independent.
>>19458763You receive a message from fabricator General Regon:>We would like to invite you, dear friend, to visit Nestorium. Our contacts on Mormark gave us information, that your ships have suffered damage. We still have not fully repaid our debt for what you did on Varda, so we would like to fix them for you as a sign of our gratitude. But there is more. Please, visit us, we habe much to discuss.Imperial Fists emmisary will arrive next year, journey from Terra is a long a perilous thing.Admiral Tyrel whereabouts are currently unknown, but you might try to use your reputation with the Imperial Navy to get them. (less than 80 on d100).Brethorius approaches you:>Father, I think you should know that among men who fought with me on Varda there is an interesting new superstition. They believe, that whenever you kill an ork, you trap his soul to serve you at the Emperors side in afterlife. This is not orthodox... But those who believe this seem to be even more efficient at slaying enemies. I just thought that you should know.

>>19458907Order of operation guys? I think we should meet the Ad Mech, pass off the duty to find out where the Admiral is, and then...Figure out what we're going to do about this supersition that's popping up. We really need to get a Chaplain up in this bitch, cause this could spiral real fast.Out of the Honour Guard, is there anyone who stands out as more zealous to the Imperial Creed then most? I know Space Marines don't follow the "Imperial Religion" per say, but...Whatever it is that Chaplains usually teach everyone is what I'm getting at.
rolled 32 = 32>>19458907Rolling to get info on the Admiral
>>19458994During these years you have noticed a few individuals that in your opinion would be worth of the Chaplains mantle. You summon them to your chamber and speak with each one of them.Brother Horim(part of Shadow Guard):>This war, this galaxy, this eternal struggle, I believe that it has a purpose. We follow Him on Terra not just because he is our genetical father... I come to believe that mortals see what we cannot. He is something more, something divine. There is no other explanation why Humanity is still alive.Brother Clarus:>I can hear Emperor speaking to me when I close my eyes, he shows me the true path and because of that I never fail to tell right from wrong.Brother Kronos:>With sword and fire should we preach our Lords ways to heathens and unbelievers. I am ready to die if need be, but I will never surrender or lose faith in you, my Master.Brother Extatius:>I am just a humble man with a fervent belief in the Emperor. He might have been just a man, but his will and determination shaped our world. I believe we should follow his ideas.Brother Trianon:>I can sense evil with my skin, Lord. Corruption and doubt will be purged wherever I can find them. Just give me the Skull-helm and our chapter will never bear disgrace of heresy or betrayal.
>>19459134So many choices! What do you guys think? I like Brother Horim personally... Brother Clarus may be some kind of psyker...Or just a little crazy. We should have him looked at either way. The others seem a little too fire and brimstone for my tastes. They may command that some planets should be purged because of suspected "heresy".
Either Horim or Kronos should be selected for the duty
>>19459195Also, I would consider Brother Extatius, but he may be a little too "casual" for the Chaplain position.
>>19459064Admiral Tyrel was sent on a classified mission, but because of your good reputation with the Navy, you were given access to it's contents. It seems that some xeno craft crashed on Arcadia, a feral mountain world in Core Worlds. Imperial navy is puzzled how something managed to get so close to capital and sent Cruiser 'Righteous' with Escorts 'Sigmar' and 'Hammer' to investigate.Arcadia added on a map.
>>19459280For now we should leave them alone, dont want to rush to their aid and appear like we are stalking them. But when we do get a chance to speak to them, emphasise that we can help in anything they may need help in.
>>19459295This was my first thought, however if they encounter resistance they will certainly be grateful for our timely appearance.I recommend we send a small clandestine group to observe and assist is necessary, attempting to hide our presence for as long as possible.
>>19459280I say we hit up the Ad Mech, see what they want, while sending the Admiral a "Hey, how's everything? Need some help?" and if it's serious, go there as soon as the ships are fixed in full force. If we have time, chat with the Ad Mech about whatever they wanted to talk about.
>>19459134Everyone please say one candidate whom you would want to be a High Chaplain. If you want, you can make others(or just one of them) lower rank Chaplains.
>>19459322If you want to go to Arcadia afterall, then answer these questions:Small clandestine group - one Escort in stealth mode?Which ship do you want to send?Who commands it? Do you go yourself? What troops do you send?
>>19459326I... Wanna cast my vote for Extatius. Also, I don't think we should creep around whatever they're doing. They may not like that. I say just send em a "how do'ya'do" message, and if they need help, give us a call. Onwards to the Ad Mech!
My vote is for Extatius.
Vote Kronos
>>19459295>>19459392>>19459322Two votes against going to Arcadia, one for. You instead plot course for Nestorium atm.
>>19459415I'm going to change my vote for going to Arcadia. Not directly, but have all the Chaplain candidates go, with our Head Librarian to watch over everything if things go south. If things go wrong, it'll be a "test" for the "chaplains to be" to see who summons the most fiery and faith from his battle brothers. My thoughts anyway.
>>19459482I second this motion. We must make haste to visit the Ad Mech in the meantime.
my vote goes for brother Horim
>>19459482>>19459529I agree with my brothers here.
>>19459415As soon as you arrive to Nestorius, you are requested to meet Fabricator General Regon. He greets you with open arms in the courtyard of his machine palace.>My friend! It is so good to see you. Come here, please, I have something to show to you...As you go with him, he leads you through the passage into a balcony from where you can see thousands of machine-serfs and servitors labouring down in the manufactorum yard around something gigantic...>This is the prototype super-heavy battle tank for a new pattern my friend, pattern that was inspired by the findings of STC fragments from our joint expedition on Varda. This tank is a cousin of the famous Baneblade, we used many similar details, but it is heavier, stronger, more powerful and the most important thing - it is suited for warriors in power armour. This is just first of many gifts that we want to give to your Chapter. It is not finished yet, it will take another few years, but it is already yours once we make it battle-worthy. With it, we grant you the honour of naming this pattern by any name you like. What will it be, my friend?
>>19459623Oh boy oh boy, I arrived at a good time.Pattern name: RetributionMight as well name it after the chapter that got it first, right?
Either Retribution or Regon for namingWhile we discovered it he pieced it all together and made it possible.
>>19459623Name it the Angry Tank.
>>19459676>Retribution Pattern... It does have ring to it, doesn't it? Adeptus Mechanicus hopes, that this machine well crush many of your enemies and bring peace to this Sector. But that is not all, let us go further...
>>19459623allmyyes.jpg"This is a most grand offer. We are humbled by your generosity Fabricator General. If I may be so bold, I would offer to name it after its creator. A "Regon Pattern" Baneblade."In the meantime, have the other Ad Mech guys begin fixing our crap. I'm also going to assume we sent a not busted up escort and cruiser to Arcadia.

>>19459729Welcome back Winter, we're currently discussing this in the chat.http://cbe005.chat.mibbit.com/?channel=%23RisingSons&server=irc.Rizon.net
>>19459702Regon chuckles at your idea of naming the pattern after him:>I suppose you can, but I already have four other patterns and 3 theories named after myself. I think that Retribution will be more useful to you, it will scare enemies more than the name of some old clanker. Modules that we retrieved gave us a leading edge among Forge Worlds in Sector Deus and maybe even this part of Segmentum Obscurus. Agriculture module revealed us how to revolutionize seeding techniques and vat-grown foods, we are already having negotiations with Protheran government regarding implementing them. Armory module had a huge array of modifications for small caliber weapons, we will research them and use the to augment our Techguard, but they would be of no use to you when you 'standart' weapons is bolter. There were also some tank designs, from which Retribution Pattern was born. But even more importantly, we found something that is almost unique, at least I myself saw only a few examples of such technology in whole three and a half centuries of my life.Suddenly, you sense danger. Careful not to show it, you try to evaluate situation. Roll perception d100

>>19459945Nothing seems out of the ordinary, you slowly relax, when Regon turns to someone behind you and tells, Pi-238, show yourselve. You immediately take up your defensive stance and you notice as this thing materialises out of the thin air.
>>19459976reposting with proper grammar:Nothing seems out of the ordinary, you slowly relax, when Regon turns to someone behind you and says: >Pi-238, show yourself. You immediately take up your defensive stance and you notice as this thing materialises out of the thin air.>Name for this pattern became clear as soon as we realised what it does. This, my friend, is Ghost Pattern Light Power Armour. I tried it out on Space Marine sized augmented servitors, and as Pi-238 demonstrated us here, it seems it is good enough to catch even Astartes off-guard.
>>19459976New stealth technology?
>>19460000>>19460001We managed to build only two models, technology needed to make them is atrociously expensive, one unit can cost up to 15 Wealth to make, I doubt that your Chapter would be ever able to make them your standart equipment, but having a squad for special assignments... I think you will find where to out them to use. Also this kind of technology is usually reserved for Inquisition and Officio Assassinorum, wider Imperium might not understand our motives...(you might get some Heresy rating if you use them.)
>>19459392>>19459394>>19459414>>19459544Extatius becomes High Chaplain of Ghosts of Retribution.>Thank you for putting your trust in me, Chapter Master. I will be fair to all and try to do my duties to the best of my ability, may the Emperor help me.
>>19460063Maybe take 3 suits for a strike team of veterans? But only use them if absolutely necessary to avoid appearance of heresy?
>>19460091>>19460063>So do you accept these two suits of armour as our gift? And yes, we received a lot of information on probable STC sites, but we are stil processing them...What do you do next?
>>19460163I don't see why not, you only get the heresy if you actually *use* them right? As for what to do next, is there any way to get that ancient cogitator identified whilst we're in a machine-palace?
We speak with Regon further, asking him how long it will take to disseminate the useful tech to the inhabited planets in the system and if he can provide us with details of any other technology we could procure for the Ad Mech.We thank him for providing us with his services, and although we will not be placing any immediate orders for Ghost Pattern armour, we are interested in putting it to use in the future. We hope we can foster a strong working relationship with him and the Ad Mech to provide gains for both of our organizations. We check in with our forces sent to Arcadia.
>>19460203We will accept the gifts gladly, as a token of respect, showing our full gratitude
>>19460199>As for what to do next, is there any way to get that ancient cogitator identified whilst we're in a machine-palace?Agreed.
>>19460163Meanwhile, techpriests repair 'Morbid', 'Kentauros' and 'Interimus' to 100% condition.Nerial informs you, that there is a message from Rogue Trader Dercius D'anger:>Dear Chapter Master, I would like to invite you and your spouse(if there is one) to my palace on Tachion Primaris to celebrate beginning of the New Imperial Year. I hope that you will come, I might have an interesting bussiness proposition for you.(in order to get there in time you would have to leave Nestorius now, three weeks left)Extatius comes to you with concern in his eyes:>My lord, i think you know about this so called Soul Harvesting superstition? Our warrios believe, that we are Ghosts sent by the Emperor to harvest souls of his enemies and trap them to serve Humanity. Currently there are about 90 followers and 7 of them, almost all of Kappa squad, call themselves Soulkillers - they are sort of central to this belief. They are commanded by Brother Arcon. Should I do something regarding that..? What is our policy regarding freedom of personal belief?
>>19460264Tell Brother Arcon that all humanity needs to walk alongside them in the afterlife is the emperor, to believe he is not sufficient in this task, and the souls of lesser creatures must be relied on, is implying the Emperor is unable to protect his people, which is blasphemy. If we turn him then hopefully the collective will dissipate, without repercussions....
>>19460199You want to leave ancient cogitator to Nestorian AdMech for indentification, right? They claim it might take up to year.Possession of unorthodox technology would raise your Heresy by d5%. Most Chapter are between 5-15% Heresy. Inquisition might get interested once you pass 30%. On 100% you are declared Excommunicatae Traitoris.
>>19460203Ehm... As I understand, no forces were sent to Arcadia. There is no post regarding details of such action. There was minor discussion but 2:1 it was decided not to send anyone.>>19460309You try to persuade him yourself or tell Extatius to do so? >>19460378damn so close....oh well, partial success
>>19460386quick question, is there *any* way, at any point, to reduce your heresy? Or is it an 'only one-way' kinda deal?
>>19460378Chaplain Extatius seems to have succeeded in talking with brother Arcon. Arcon agreed to stop making official rituals after the battle to 'harvest' souls and he will not spread his faith, but he and his closest brothers will pursue their beliefs. It seems that because of their mysterious nature, terrible efficiency and strange rumours, Kappa squad will always be known among your brothers as Soulkillers...Do you accept Dercius D'angers' invitation?
>>19460438The heretical stuff aside, I can't say no to some personality amongst our squads. And let's go see what this RT wants. Why not?
>>19460438As long as they don't preach and spread their faith further around the chapter, I don't suppose there is a problem, we won't end up all Blood Raven-y with half the chapter inadvertently serving chaos, emperor forbid...Regarding the invitation....what kind of chance is there that it's some trap or ambush? If there is a significant chance, would it be possible to bring an honour guard? or possibly even the 2 ghostknights, to remain cloaked until danger emerges?PS. I gotta go now, will check back on this thread tomorrow, if it still stands.
>>19460407There is. Heresy reduces over time and good deeds tend decrease it. If you are effective enough, Imperial authorities will look through the fingers how exactly do you reach your goals. Also you can always use Favour to ask High Lords of Terra to make inquisition look to the other side. Some Chapter, like Space Wolves for example are borderline heretics - 50-60% Heresy because of their mutations, insubordination, conflicts, etc.
>>19460496What if D'angers (somehow) discovers the cloaked Marines? That's not exactly good faith for the first meeting...
>>19460518That is indeed a good point, Ghostknights = not a good idea, disregard that suggestion of mine. But really I've gotta go now, no more posts from me.
We accept the meeting. We need Wealth to grow and at the moment the best way to do that is taking opportunities like this.
>>19460496You don't know what kind of chance is there, but you might order your Intelligence network on Tachion Primaris(31% strong) try to get some information about that celebration.Ghostknights... sounds quite good. You still have a couple of days left, but you realise, that going to D'angers celebration will be an important thing in the eyes of Sectorial elite. From your classical education you know, that the way you will present yourself there and the gift that you will bring to the host will be discussed and evaluated throughout all levels of Imperial nobility here. I know that your motivations are different, but that doesn't change the fact that your ships can't repair themselves and those bolts that you like to spray around as if there is no tommorow, also need to be bought for cold hard cash. And this adventure that I propose you is good for you in two ways - it will make you enough money to buy a planet and at the same time you will help Imperium. Take a look at this holo-picture. This is Space Hulk that my Navigator named 'Dark sister'. My acquaintances gave me information when and where it will come to the real space. There is an artifact on that ship, that my acquaintances need, some sort of container as I understand.
