>old thread >>19530450>For those familiar with Evo games, this thread basically runs on the same ruleset. I'll do a recap of the rules in the following post.In the attached picture you will find a variety of fantastic creatures; these are all the offspring species of the Omnimute.I've left them all uncoloured in the interest of this thread working much the same as the previous one; pick a creature you want to evolve and give it a unique colour/pattern before you start.I'll also post the base of the Omnimute in the next post, in case you want to start from scratch. If you have any questions about the creatures, feel free to ask, though I assume most players are following me here from the previous thread and will know them already.
Ah, humble beginnings. How to play:>To start, save the base image (pic related) or crop a previous creature from the OP pic, fill it with your chosen colour or pattern (the same as before if you can recognise yours) and give it a particular name, if you like.>From then on, you can evolve your Omnimute by changing -one- feature per post. e.g. developing feelers, lengthening limbs or gaining a sense of smell.>Each player's Omnimute is considered a splinter species and has a population of its own, therefore Omnimutes can become prey or predator to (an)other species and both will, naturally, evolve accordingly.>For argument's sake, the planet in question is basically Earth, however no other species (except plants, fungi, bacteria, etc.) exist.>Try to be realistic with your changes but overall, have fun with it!
And Omnimute Mauve is go!
>>19533361My yellow omnimute looks so cute.
>>19532342We can use our old pictures still, right? Our digging paddles split into grasping fingers, making eating roots easier. But, at nearly 3 feet long, we'll need to start supplementing our diet.
Can I have a picture with just mine, host?
New leg is go! But after discovering that orange omnimute is also going onto land, this little critter needs some defense mechanisms. Since there are no other contenders for greens on land (correct me if I am wrong) the yellow omnimute sees no need in changing it's appetite.
Some swarms of the Colorful Omnimute develop a new behavior. They start to follow larger animals, and clean their skin of detritus, dead parts and parasites. And of course they take a few bites from the bloody pieces left over from predation.
>>19533410Absolutely, if you find that easier.>>19533413You can indeed.
Haha, yea you really got everyone in there, didn't you?Picking up where I left off:As it spends more time in the open hunting and less time hiding, the Neon Greens develop camouflage coloring on their backs, to help them blend in with the mud and foliage when they are lying still and avoid predators.
M.Omnimute grows a thin membrane between its limbs to increase swim speed somewhat
This looks awesome!
See this? This little hole near the neck of the yellow omnimute is for hearing. It can now hear the rustling of trees, the wind, enemies approaching, it's own farting (very disturbing the first time) and much more.
M.Omnimute develops eyespots
Can I join the party? Or am I too similar to the grey one.
>>19533410We develop a proper mouth! No more covering for some weird little sucking hole, now we've got a tongue and everything!
MO grows a basic mouth, expanding its diet to small aquatic organisms and insects
The Pale Omnimute's forelimbs also develop for ease of hopping.
Forelimbs lengthen for increased propulsion
>>19533451The hunting method of the Neon Greens (throwing themselves into the air and nabbing insects with their mouths) have led to a thickening and strengthening of their necks. Their heads and torsos are practically seamless.
MO now has proper light sensing proto-eyes
What program is everyone using to edit their creature? I usually use photoshop, but don't have it on the computer I'm using.
>>19533481Anything goes, welcome to the party.
Ghillie Omnimute is a go!
>>19533472The size is increased 100%. The yellow omnimute feels very secure, with only one predator on land (presumably orange omnimute). They grow together in a wary symbiosis as one feeds off the bounties of nature, while the other feeds of the bountiful herd animal that is the yellow omnimute. Due to size increase, birth time has doubled and their numbers increase slower. Their need for food intake increases as well, which is abundant.
Actual eyes finally develop. Small, nearsighted, and black and white only for now.
>>19533546Great!Forearms shorten as the Black omnimute sticks exclusively to the water. Hindlegs form into fin-like appendages.
The Colorful Omnimute strain, specialised in cleaning large criters develops longer appendages for moving on the skin of the host. From henceforth they shall be known as Companimutes.
>>19533552With less need for its filters now that it has a jaw, they become primitive gill-lungs, allowing it to search for food both in the water and mud.
>>19533497Our horn and upper beak merge to form a large, sturdy face plate, further deterring any predators invading our burrows
The Pale Omnimute develops much longer legs, becoming the tallest of the omnimutes.
More is always better, and Mauve now has a new set of eyes. Their sensitivity has also increased, allowing for much improved visibility in low light conditions. Insects skimming the water are now a favorite prey.
>>19533531Continuing reinforcement of the body, their tails thicken once more, and develop a muscled fin to increase the surface area of their tail for pushing against the ground.Added a top-down view, as this omnimute spends most of its time flat to the ground and this is how it will be seen by most creatures.
>>19533553The hind legs become stronger, to support it when it is reaching higher places. One can assume from this side-view that there are indeed 4 hind legs now and 4 front arms.
>>19533595Now that it's moved out in to the mud, the Ghillie Omnimute's eyes develop lids and the ability to rotate.
>>19533596Digging has become more difficult with fingers and increased size. Therefore, our saliva has become corrosive, both as a means for burrowing and to easily digest large amounts of plant matter
The Companimutes continue their cleaning buisness on land too.
The tail lengthens, allowing Mauve to leap out of the water at low flying insects.
>>19533636Finally, a decent adaptation to resist the orange omnimute, the only real threat on land to the yellow omnimute which shall henceforth be known as Yellmute. The arm itself with it's pointy tip is of bone. It can hurt a lot but if it breaks off, for now, does not grow back. If a Yellmute loses it somehow, it is defeinitely hindered. Males and females have it.
Just an FYI, I won't be able to draw again tonight, though I'll be hanging around in text-only for a while more.If we reach another 404 and you're all still going, someone else feel free to make a new one and you can all carry your pictures onwards.Quick thanks to everyone contributing, by the way; this has been so much better received than I'd hoped for.
The size of food is increasing, and so Orange grows as well to accomodate.Currently one Orange might pick off weaker members of a herd of Yellows, or they'll hunt whatever else they can find
>>19533686I gotta stop doing this.>>19533671Cute as hell
>>19533647In the lightless underground tunnels, it is difficult for Browns to find each other for mating. Therefore, we have developed nostrils, both for scent and to use the complex tubes in their face plates to amplify their cries.
>>19533584One last update before I go for a walk with my dog.The black omnimutes foreleg also develops fins, to allow the omnimute to swim around quicker. It develops rudementary sensory organs, barely able to discern light and darkness. The Black omnimute settles in deeper waters in order to avoid being preyed upon by the grey.(Doing it a tiny bit faster to catch up to y'all.)
>>19533629The jaw develops, becoming quite large and scooped, meant for catching swarms of insects or two larger ones in a single bite. The increased weight of the head has made it's jumps slightly shorter, though with its increased size, it is still clearing 8 inches when it leaps.
>>19533638The Ghillie develops a more pronounced jaw, allowing it to eat larger hard-shelled creatures. This allows it to grow in size, yay!
>>19533699Yellmutes now have two stubby little fingers on their forearms. They can now grab fruits from trees and things from the ground, but very basic of course. They will be able to pick small fruits and vegetables or try and grasp them by using both hands together. The trees and plants adapt by offering fruit which are favourable to the Yellmute. Some however are poisonous and are avoided, but how would a Yellmute know if it is poisonous besides their antennae?
Mauve's mouth grows larger for easier consumption of larger prey, though it still lacks any kind of teeth or beak and instead just mashes its prey with raw crushing force.
>>19533759Simple! A tongue. Tastes good mon. Yes, it is supposed to be purple.
The Companimute develops star like appendages on the end of its legs. They help them to stay on their host.
>>19533698Oranges develop a tougher, less vulnerable hide in response to the Yelmute's new weapon
>>19533725Our arms increase in size again, letting us pull low lying shrubs underground to eat at our leisure. We're five feet long now, so our diets increase as a result
Enter, the Maroonimute.
>>19533699Someone needs to make an "Am I kawaii uguu" out of them.
>>19533746To better maneuver in the mud, the Ghillie's back legs grow another joint!
Mauve begins to make short forays to land in search of more food, and develops small gripping toes in the process. The new digits allow it to more easily grip the rocks it launches itself from when catching flying insects.
>>19533742The forelimbs bulk up, gaining the muscle and bone strength to balance out the added weight from the jaw and body girth. The Neon Greens can attain heights of 18 inches on average when they jump.Additionally, rudimentary clawed fingers have developed on the forelimbs. They use these to dig under the mud to better conceal themselves before springing on their prey, and in a pinch, to try and ward off predators should they be seized. With that, I've got somewhere to be. Probably won't be back for most of the evening. Good luck, fellow Omnimutes!
Drawbro, if it's alright with you, going for a little divergence in this post.A split occurs in the Perch Omnimute. One species becomes more suited for land, while the front limbs of the other become webbed fins.
The Companimutes feet develop filaments, analog to the filaments on gecko feet. If the pack of Companimutes want to stay on something, they stay on.
>>19533813The Browns develop a nasty stinger on their antenna, delivering their caustic saliva to any other Omni unfortunate enough to step on it, hopefully killing it and letting us burrow upwards and dine at our leisure.
>>19533826Maroonimute evolve small fins, that resemble webbed feet, on the end of it's limbs. At this point, their only purpose is to aid in swimming.
The Pale Omnimute begins to take full advantage of its superior height, by developing a sensory stalk, poking out of its socket. It is used to sense many things, light, vibrations, noise, however, due to its generalist nature it is very imprecise and useless at a distance.
>>19533885Go right ahead, NOTRIP; anything's possible here.
>>19533783To counter the scratchy of the orange omnimute the Yellmute adapts their skin.>>19533789Will there eventually be an evolution of land Companimutes and waterbound Companimutes?
Maroonimute develops sensors to detect pressure, allowing it to detect predators.
A series of anomalies have been detected. Tan offsprings of the Omnimutes with red stripes have been sprouting out more and more.
The Companimutes tend to live on their host more and more. Most of their lives are now connected to the different hosts they are found upon. Their social structure evolves accordingly.
Mauve has grown another joint and larger, more powerful front limbs for better climbing.
>>19533849The Ghillie's front legs change too!
>>19533925The ear becomes more flexible and movable as well as cupped.
>>19533902Eating meat is hard, even with acid spit. We develop basic teeth from our beaks, making eating other Omnis much easier, shooting us into omnivore status!
Calling them Flipper and Clomper from now on. The limbs of the Flipper are now completely fins.Clompers grow larger (10 in.), especially their mouths.
>>19533986Nails on those feet make them sturdier, the bottoms of the feet are rougher. Now sticks nor stones will break their bones and they can venture farther, thus expanding further upon planet Omnimute.
>>19533955That was actually the base of the Red Omnimute, a big lazy thing that sieves algae from the mud with its tentacles. That still works with the red & tan stripes though so carry on, just pointing that out.
In addition to growing in size, Maroonimute's back legs grow, allowing quicker movement, however, the front legs remained the same, making it more awkward for the creature to move on land. To offset this, it has evolved the beginnings of horns, in an attempt to intimidate predators.
The sensory stalk of the Pale Omnimute becomes larger, spreading through the socket. It splits into sections, each dedicated to a particular sense. The bottom section leaves a part of the socket open, using it to sense vibrations, developing a sense of hearing, the middle band is able to 'taste' the air, developing rudimentary smell, and the top is darker, to sense the difference between light and dark, developing very simple sight.
Land has been good to the Mauves, and they've grown in size. What's more, they've developed bony ridges in their mouths To more easily masticate prey.
>>19534036I usually do a bunch of changes at once then save each change into a post. If it is too much or something I'll stop. The antennae grow larger so they can detect things over a larger range. Eyes? Pish posh. We can smell things from far and wide.
>>19534061derp
>>19533807Spear size has increased. This allows for rudimentary digging, should a Brownmute try to attack.
>>19533925Neoteny appears. By a mutation larval Companimutes now have the ability to reproduce. This leads to a species split, because larval Companimutes need water to survive. They grow to adult size, but do not grow legs. They tend to hang around in packs on the skin of large water based animals.
>>19534064I think you've got the individual stages at a good rate, but you're clearly posting the most of all the omnimutes.Keep going, you're doing great.
Im back. Gray grows in size to about the size of a whole human arm. thats all i got at the moment.
>>19533984The Ghillie's hind legs become thick, powerful, and good for jumping from one mudpuddle to the next.
>>19534006We grow another joint in our arms, increasing our reach and letting us drag plants and prey into our tunnels easily.
>>19534064When drinking, this new jaw creates more possibilities allowing them to scoop up larger amounts of water and they occasionally drink smaller omnimutes whole. Yellmutes are now involuntarily omnivores. But they like the taste.>>19534104Alright!>>19534102
>>19533538MS Paint.Clompers gain a scent-sensitive tongue.Flippers adopt a more streamlined shape by loosing the separation between head and body.
Their new bulk has made climbing more tricky. Fortunately Mauve has developed a new digit and claws to assist their rock climbing endeavors.
>>19534141Hurrr
As yet another growth spurt effects the Maroonimute species, it develops a primitive mouth, so that it can start fighting back against the other creatures. Back legs shift to a position further down it's body, for as it isn't exactly fast, it needs to rely on ambush, so through this, it gives itself more reach when it leaps or lunges at it's prey. The forelimbs grow smaller, but the webbed feet and 'hands' improve.
The Tallmute (Pale Omnimute) develops its sensory stalk further - the middle bands shrink back into the socket, leaving the stalk entirely light-based. It darkens further to absorb more light, and becomes a large stalk-eye. Lacking eyelids or any other form or protection, it is forced to retract the eye back into the socket when the light becomes too bright for them.
>>19533727The protusions on the black omnithingies lengthen and evolve into more fins. This does two important things. One, faster swimmin'Two, camouflaging itself in seaweed.
The NeoCompanions develop a huge suction cup like mechanism to get a better grip on the host. The Companimutes develop a modified sensory organ on their feet. Because the hosts become more and more important in their lifecycle, the Companimutes need to monitor their biological signals.
>>19534130Hanging onto prey with just our fingers proves to be tricky. They have evolved into large claws, digging into any Omnis who wander past their pits and into the depths below. Assuming, of course, that they aren't stung first.
>>19534169The antennae become soft and hairy again, with hair to smell things in their vicinity and large area as well, supported by their hearing. The breathing apparatus is still only a breathing hole to allow eating/drinking without having to stop to breathe.
>>19534192The Tallmute females select mates for height - a number of largely vertical stripes prove advantageous in that they create an illusion of height.
All this success has, of course, drawn the eyes of predators. To combat this Mauve has grown hard, bony bumps making them harder to swallow. The loose floppy membrane of yesteryear is gone as well, replaced with a taut, elastic model.
>>19533955The changes continue, as it shape becomes more fatter, storing more alga from mud, red tips can be scene on the tentacles as they become more active.>>19534037Alright thanks for pointing that out, kinda couldn't find what base one was from in the previous thread.>small sheAssoNo capcha, it isn't THAT type of thread.
If it's not too late, pink Omnimte enters the arena!
>>19534234The Yellmutes adapt to accomodate the little Companimutes, their backs are softer and allow easier gripping for Companimutes, as well as a good access to the sun. The hairs on the antennae look like pubes.
>>19534333I always write it up then forget the pic.As you can see the back of the Yellmutes are softer as is the underdeveloped tail, a remnant of it's past.
A wise man once said "You can never have too many fins".Black omnimute took this to heart.
>>19534314It's never too late! Though they have quite a bit of catching up to do.
A time of great change comes over the Maroonimute, as it once again, grows in size. It finds it needs to eat more, and it evolves rudimentary teeth, accompanied by small tusks. It's new feeding habits involve waiting by the poolside to lunge in at prey with said tusks. As it grew in size, it came up out of the water, and made land its home, almost completely leaving behind it's amphibian lifestyle, it forgoes the ability to breath underwater, and it's back legs grow, it's webbed feat turning into .... well, non-webbed feet, and the same happens with it's forelimbs. The sensors on it's head rise up into a mound on the front of the head, as detecting pressure is less usefull on the land, it intends to make full use of it. Also, weak, primitive heat sensors appear in it's eyespots.
The NeoCompanions develop feelers around their suction like mouths. These are highly sensitive and have chemical receptors on them. The Companmiutes of the land become viviparus, because they spend most of their time on the hosts.
The tip of the clompers' snout becomes a beak, which is used for ripping up land based plants to eat.Flippers get a breathing hole on the backs of their necks.
>>19534240Muscle mass increases in the arm, allowing us to prey on some of the more hapless Yellomutes and even the odd Tallmute. Plants have nearly been phased from our diet, although occasionally we are forced to gnaw on roots during leaner times.
>>19534314Alrighty, then pink omnimute develops a front spear over its chin. It allows the creature to spear both predators and prey, eating them by simply digging the horn into the ground and sucking off the meat that's pushed up into their lip. The design works a similar way on big leafy vegetables.
The Yellmutes grow, as do the trees. They grow in size to accustom to the changes of the fauna as they have learnt that some of these plants seem to be a lot taller. They try to avoid eating Mauves as their bony bumps make them hard to swallow.
Mauve has now abandoned aquatic life entirely, its new form is too ungainly underwater. To better spot both predator and prey Mauve has grown yet another set of eyes. Dark splotches have begun to appear on the membranes of the larger specimens as well.
>>19534289The Tallmute's ear splits off from the main socket, becoming an entirely independent organ.
>>19534434
>>19534390In order to more easily escape predators, and chase prey, the pink omnimute develops an extra front ligament. An added bonus to this new joint allows it to more easily climb trees.
>>19534412Cumbersome, large and clumsy, the Yellmute can defend itself well with it's new large feet and fend off smaller foes. Weak Yellmutes and offspring are, if left unguarded, fall prey to predators quickly. Such is the balance of life, as the Yellmutes roam the plains, feeding off of flora and fauna around them.>captcha: and furbotNo.
>>19534370Our arms shift backwards, and the first Browns begin to stand, the burrows increasing to accommodate our new height. We make small excursions from our tunnels, running into the open to more efficiently catch prey and drag it back to the dens, our echoing cries sounding across the plains.
Clompers double in length (20 in), and their necks extend. While the Flipper goes by essentially unchanged, a carnivorous species branches off, called the Clipper. Clippers swim in schools and nibble at any larger creatures they come across.
As the Tallmute increases in size, its food becomes increasingly difficult to eat with its trunk. To compensate for this, the opening at the end of the trunk forms a rudimentary mouth, with hard lips.
>>19534412The NeoCompanios gain impostors among their ranks. These are no longer symbiotic beings. They are hidden wolves among the lambs. These parasites have developed a needle like structure, to pierce the skin of the host. They are not many, and almost identical to any normal specimen. The Companimutes develop feromon glands inside their gills. They use it to produce the different feromons of the host. This is a very effective warning system, giving a host a thousand eyes and noses.
>>19534482More fond of climbing trees, the pink omnimute devises a a cheap way to get between them- flight. Not only does it allow the omnimute to escape predators, it also allows them to catch prey from above.
Mauve's new terrestrial lifestyle is simply to active to merely absorb oxygen through their skin anymore. A much beefier chest cavity grows to accommodate their new lungs. Their behavior has changed as well - with the new energy provided by their lungs Mauves have taken to climbing trees in search of insects hiding in the bark and branches.
>>19534308The tentacle becomes more and more active as it is their only way to obtain food. As such they have become reformed for efficiency.
>>19534340 (after 1000 years in paint)The Black Omnithingy, now hereby named Omnifin, has been pretty much blindly swimming along the seaweed forests at the bottom of the ocean, picking up whatever food it finds.Fins (of course) have now grown around its mouth, these fins are very flexible and can be used by the Omnifin to pick up food it finds lying around and move it into his mouth. The fins also secrete a paralyzing toxin, to prevent small bugs and kritters from escaping once the Omnifin touches it.
>>19534586critters*
>>19534555How does that work exactly? You've got what amounts to a blind salamander without any kind of sensory organs to its name let alone more than a primitive food-hole in place of a mouth.
With another size increase, the Maroonimute becomes a little less maroon. It develops not only larger tusks and teeth, for shredding and spearing it's prey, not only does its senses become more enhanced, the pressure sensors instead now pick up pheremones and help the heat sensors, and they also encorporate a sense of smell. The hands and feet grow claws, and a nub on it's back becomes a spike, and it's back and upper head are covered with a hard layer of dense bone-like material, not as solid and rigid though. This is because, despite it's predatory nature, it is not head of the food chain, and still needs protection.
>>19534499The Brown's mouth increases dramatically in size, the larger teeth making hunting more efficient, bringing down prey faster than before even without the help of their stinger. They have grown to nearly 6 feet in height and 4 feet long.
>>19534574Yellmutes continue to accidentily eat Muaves as they appear to have gotten to the trees and branches. The Yellmute's jaw grows larger still, to be able to chew whatever comes into it's maw easier and even accomodates Companimutes as well, the odd Neocompanio gets in whilst drinking and some manage to survive for a prolonged time.Due to Companimute parisites appearing some Yellmutes, older, weaker and injured ones, fall prey easier to predators this way as the plethora of parasites cripple the weakened Yellmute.
>>19534549Its mouth expands further,Its ears shift to a different position on the sides of its head.It develops a leathery lid that it uses to cover most of the nostril when it is not actively in use for protection. When the eye-stalk withdraws, it is also protected by this lid, as it fully closes off the socket.
>>19534673The nose apparatus shifts backwards, to avoid Muaves getting stuck in them, or other things.
>>19534614Super powerful sense of touch, and super suction mouth. Besides, trips never lie.>>19534555The pink omnimute evolves its sensitive nerves even more so, putting red popping veins all over its body. It uses electricity to sense its environment, much like an electric eel does.
Mauves have developed an orifice in their head bump akin to a primitive nasal system. They can't actually smell anything through them, but they can produce a whistling sound they use for basic communication. (also bump redesign)
The parasitical NeoCompanions find a better place for their eggs, and that is the skin of their host. The larva only leaves the egg, when it is to big to fit inside. Till then, it consumes the blood of the host. New strains appear in the rows of the Companimutes to deepen the symbiotic relationships. One type grows a bigger sensory organ, that has a better sight. The other develops a strong pincher like mouth appendage for peskier parasite removal. But the bulk of the Companimutes remains the same.
Clompers just get hueg. Large dog sized lizards.Flippers and clippers undergo some coloration changes. The last thing some aquatic Omnimutes see is a cloud of orange speeding in their direction. If anyone wants to, feel free to make branches off of my critters.
>>19534651The Brown' body compacts, the extra weight of their rear section no longer throwing them off balance, allowing them to run faster to keep up with fleeing prey.
>>19534701Now with 3rd finger for better grabbing.
The spike on it's back grows, being used occasionally to rip grubs from bark, but it's primary use is to stab at fish or other aquatic omnimutes. It's forearms now are used for the manipulation of it's prey once killed, cutting into it, making it easier to feed upon the carcass.
>>19534708Already used to sucking up food from their single horn, the pink omnimute's 'mouth' fuses with the horn, making a sort of proboscis, which sucks bodily fluids from a victim.
>>19534586The Omnifin, long ago having forsaken its light sensory organ due to its uselessness down in the seaweed forests, develops long (finlike) motion sensoring organs from its "eye" socket. It is now able to sense the movement of nearby creatures, as well as "feel" itself around its environment.
>>19534762*spikes, derp. There are two spikes.By the way, I've never done anything like this before, what do you make of Maroonimute? I'm worried I'm evolving him too quickly.
>>19534789Maybe a little fast, nothing extreme. As long as you dont give it a new limb every post so that its an entirely new creature after 2 posts, its fine I guess.
>>19534760The boney defense mechanism has become a little leaner to assure a quicker first-strike defense. Nevertheless the size of the Yellmute is a clear disadvantage against packs of predators but against size similar foes such as the Maroonimute has a defending chance, if it isn't a weak, sick or old Yellmute. This is my last update. Can't wait to see your stuff later guys. I really like how some fit to others, that's really cool, the symbiosis aspect. Good night! Very fun.
>>19534758The Brown's horn becomes larger once again, becoming dense bone. Males compete for females by ramming into each other, the winner becoming a sort of alpha among a small group of Browns, organizing them into a primative pack mentality.
>>19534585Because of their improved way of filtering the mud, the Tan and Reds they have become fatter and movement from them is now considered rare.
>>19534766Holy shit two dubs in a row, following trips...The fore limbs of the pink omnimute point upwards to hold a special sensative membrane, packed full of nerve endings, using as a sort of makeshift antenna, allowing the pink omnimute to sense changes in air pressure, movement, the wind's direction, and the temperature at a tenth of a degree celsius.
With all this new food available the Mauves have grown again, and they've got longer necks. Why? Because Mauves have found they don't need to cling tightly to the trees - they can leap after flying insects like the old days, and their membranes allow them a simple form of gliding. Catching bugs in flight with a stubby little neck is hard when you can't actually fly, but a longer neck makes aiming much easier.
The parasitic type NeoCompanions develop new mouth apparatus. From now on they not only pierce, but rip and tear. They consume parts of the hosts flesh, and blood.Companimutes tend to aggregate on strategical points of the host. The feromon communication becomes more sophisticated with the host. The little guardians are forever vigilant.
Gray develops a larger brain and brain cavity.
>>19534840Running is still clumsy for the Browns, so they have developed a rudimentary stabilizing membrane on their back limbs.
Original blue here. Just posting what my sea-going creation would have eventually evolved into. It's rather large and can swallow dolphins whole, and it ditched the gills for lungs.I'm outs, but you all rock.
Sheer size becomes the main defense for the Clompers, with thick, scaly skin as a minor secondary one. They roam plains and forests eating plants. I'd say that they're a little smaller than a cow.Nothing new for the Flippers or clippers. They've got good niches for now.
Vestigial rear limbs? Not any more. With the advent of gliding came a need for control, and the beefed up limbs supply just that.
New creature joining in. The name of the species is the Khoar. It has a soft underbelly and a thicker backside. More post on there way
The Omnifin has grown to enormous proporions due to lack of competition down in the Seaweed Forests. It is in fact completely undisturbed. Due to nature of the Omnifins food (small algae, krill and other tiny animals that live at the bottom of the ocean), he has time for nothing but eating.
>>19534845The pink omnimutes (I need a better name for these guys), develop more slender heads, making them more aero dynamic so that they may glide faster, giving them more momentum for stabbing into prey.Captcha: Praise IngsocNOPE NOPE NOPE
>>19534907The Brown's stinger has moved backwards, leaving more room for hardened bone plates on their skulls. They freely roam the plains now, hunting in pairs, tracking prey by scent and a complex set of screeches and other vocalizations.
Okay, the spikes have grown larger, as it grew to stand more upright. Being more topheavy, the spikes are often used to balance itself or to lean on, instead of it's forearm, and the extra length does wonders to it's 'fishing' feeding habit. Eating meat has enlarged it's brain slightly, and by evolving to walk more upright, as well as increasing in size, it can intimidate much more easily, and spot prey/predators easier too.
>>19534842The TanandReds lose their useless forelimb! The tentacles now have enough strength to carry themselves(though not good)!
>>19534974The hind legs of the pink omnimute, now called the Rosea, are removed by misuse, much like a human tail bone, appearing only as a stub. With less weight, it allows the Rosea to climb and glide more efficiently, the stubs remaining there simple to help the creature rest on the branches of trees.
More splayed out digits for even easier climbing and webbing for even better gliding.
>>19534980The Brown's tail has migrated to their hindquarters, giving them a bit of defense behind them, should any Omni have the courage to attack them.
The parasitic NeoCompanions develop a new larval stage. This larva leaves the egg, but it hatches inward, into the host skin. There the larva feeds from the skin tissue and blood, later metamorphosing into a small version of an adult parasite. The original strain of the Companimutes develop a larger head. Their mouth gets big, and salvary glands even bigger.
Brain increased in size. ends of fins split into three.
Alright, I' out, probably won't be back until late tomorrow. If there's still a thread going I'll pop in, if not, well, take care of my little monsters.
>>19535065The Rosea evolve a longer wingspan for much faster efficient flight.
>>19534969The Black Omnifin further strengthens his natural camouflage, his back fins now focusing more on melding in with the seaweed than being of use as propulsion. The fins on his back now secrete the same paralyzing toxins that the mouth fins have, the Omnifin can feel when something triggers the toxin, letting it devour the prey before the paralyzed prey regains its senses.
>>19535091Airborne Omnis are a nuisance to the Browns, as they cannot jump high enough to catch them. Therefore, they have evolved a large hollow in their trunk where mucus and their caustic spittle gathers. With enough pressure, they can lob a ball of deadly slime skyward. While not to accurate, it should discourage most pests.
Longer digits, beefier limbs, actually capable of (clumsy) flight. I think it's safe to call them wings now.
So, which one is the "apex predator" right now?
develops a forearm for grasping prey and manipulating objects.
The Omnifin has now grown to the size of a whale shark.
With their new flight prowess Mauves lost much of their gripping and climbing ability. In response they've developed small grasping toes they use to hang on to branches and any terrestrial Omnis that'll tolerate their presence and whistling.
>>19535038OmnitanandRed's tentacles have strengthened even further, becoming more and more of it's need-to-do limb.
Hit the image limit again
Image limit reached i think.
Is OP still here?
I'm running out of ideas where I should take my 6 eyed logneck bat saurus thing.>>19535257I really like the idea of a creature so lazy it's practically devolving into an anemone.
I liked OP's "overlook" image. Would another one be possible? Or are the creatures getting a bit too advanced now?
>>19535287Yeah, I think most are a bit too advanced. I have no idea what to do with my guys now
>>19535284Thanks, just adding to what I already have mostly. Not quite an anemone yet, but it's getting there by the looks of it!
>>19535298He said he wouldn't be drawing again tonight anyway. But yeah the creatures with 20+ iterations seem to have run into the Shark Conundrum. We've all evolved to fit our niche really well, so is there any more need to evolve? I suppose we could start overspecializing, I've already taken steps in that direction by removing most of the Mauve's ability to walk and climb.
Well guys, hope to see you in the next thread. Someone should achive this one, too.
>>19535342Yeah, if it continues any further, my Omnifin is gonna go full Cthulhu mode.
Achived, now go vote for it.
>>19535342The simple solution to this is, obviously, the Host introducing drastic environmental changes like an ice age..
Despite all the awesomeness in this thread, I think it's best to start again from scratch. We've gotten quite some diverse creatures already so a new 'base creature' to kick off a new cycle may be the most interesting thing to do.
>>19535851>>19539509Environmental threats would be a good idea, another would be if Host developed some NPC predators/prey for the omnimutes to play off of. Since we've got a small number of players relative to the amount of niches available in nature for animals to fill, our creatures aren't entering into competition with each other very much.
how about a new base but the current ones still exist on the planet?
Bump
>>19540871I like this idea.I can live with either or, but I support just adding new lines of specimens.
>>19543135Same here.
>>19539509>>19540871>>19543135>>19543176Well you can't argue with the numbers.I'll knock up a new starter and make the new thread soon, then I gotta head out for a few but I should be back before 404 to start another, if it goes the same as this one.
>>19543215Will you redraw the current ones? :3
>>19543228Not yet, I think it'll be easier to play the next as "if you remember them, incorporate them, otherwise just play it as new."Then maybe we'll have a convergence of both bases with redraws and what-not.
>>19543412New thread.
