You call as loud as possible. The injured, crippled Kalak, Gehenna, tried to pull himself to his feet, to meet your eyes. "He betrayed me. He *lied* to me." He said, in a very cold, emotionless voice. He gripped the Fell even tighter, and he started trembling.Marigold rushed out from below deck, white light already streaming from her back as she starts healing the kalak. Her eyes are red, but she doesn't seem to notice. The mask you have under your petticoat starts. . shaking, and you hear it whisper that word again, but then it calms.

>>19673914>>19673855No. I think that with a 94 roll it would just change the mindsets of everyone involved in THE GAME to 'I don't have to change the entire world to match my possibly extremely warped mindset.'

He gave me my tome. But he's dead, and I promised not to fight against you. . which Eidolon would ask us to do.""Crystal?""It was a crystal Eidolon had us keep. Said it was important, very important to him, and to give it to him if we ever had to resurrect him."As Marigold knelt and started healing, Raziel stood."Bring him here. You can do that, right? We need to stop Ragnarok."You nod, and reach out with your magic. . .Ragnarok bursts into being, his kalak-grin wide. It almost seemed like he leaped *with* you, as opposed to fighting it."You called?" Ragnarok asked.Gehenna grabbed Ragnarok by the beak, and used it to slam his head into the floor.

Nothing other than snippets."What. Did. You. Do?""I set things in motion." He said. "I knew you would pull me here. "Just take a look at the crystal my dear brother here has. Have everyone take a look at it."As he spoke, people started coming up from belowdeck, having heard the commotion."Don't." Gehenna said. You clench your fist, and close your eyes, scrying. . everything that could be Eidolon's ally. You see little. A small cabin near an ocean. The top of a mountain. The ruins in crescent island. Nothing but places, places. You shake your head, and put your hand on Ragnarok's crest. . and reach into his mind.A whirlwind of thoughts that aren't yours rush through your head. You skip around a mental barrier he's put up. . by mentally repeating the phrase 'rubber baby buggy bunkers' over and over. You skip through that, weave through memories of talking to various humans, you note a memory as the Wanderer confronts him, ignore hundreds of memories of speaking with his brother. . Kobolds. Kobolds who worship you, after a long while of speaking to them a little each day, whenever you can get rid of your brother. You remember the time your father died, when you and your brother went to the place he died. . and stole your father's blood from the past."And now." You say, the words trilling through your beak. "I have a job for you to do.""Yes, boss?" The kobold shaman says, bowing low.Your father may be mad, insane, dangerous. . but you owe him. This is your duty."I will send you to the tower." You say. "The ritual I taught you. Do it with your youngest children.""But. . boss. . .""Do it, or my wrath will be mighty." You say. . and then you send them through the portal. You pull out of Ragnarok's head. They're at. . Azariel's tower. They're going to use the artifact knife to sacrifice kobold young. Life for life.

We need to call on Azariel's spectre and inform him to wake the fuck up in the tower, because he has to stop that ritual at all costs.

I just thought that with TWO SPECIFIC spells, that a 94 would be effective. I called it diplomancy, but really spells are spells.>TRUTH and WILLING TO SPEAK were spells.>Why is a 94 ineffective on spells?
You're *livid*."Ragnarok... you... you're butchering children to bring him back? And having their own kin do the job?! You even KNOW that eidolon is mad, and you're still serving him, out of a twisted, mindless sense of loyalty! To think you'd do such a thing, after refusing Azariel's geas is... is... what is *wrong* with you... you..."You slap him as hard as is physically capable. "You hypocritical monster!" You screech, and slap him again. And again."Raziel, call on Azariel's spectre. Inform him to wake up in the tower, and stop that ritual at all costs. I'll move the knife.""If you move the knife, the spell protecting the tower from the astral fire will fall." Raziel says. . "But I'll do it."She knelt, and calmly said Azariel's name."Go to the tower, Azariel. Stop the ritual." Raziel says, and the wisp in front of her vanishes. "I think he'll buy us some time."
rolled 86 = 86>>19674895Why aren't we moving faster already?
>>19674895Boot that fucker in the ribs. Serious the fuck up and regain our composure."Raziel, Gehenna, Ell. Would it be possible for you to translocate the ship, like we did before? We have no time to lose. I'll move the knife if we can't, but I'd like to keep the tower safe if possible."
>>19674895>"If you move the knife, the spell protecting the tower from the astral fire will fall."So? Noone lives there any more. You can't kill or mutate a spectre, and artifacts are almost indestructible. It's kind of unfair to slaughter the kobolds I guess.
"Go, go, go!" You say, putting your hand on the Jormungandr's control crystal. It's been running at cruising speed north the entire time, so you're not far. . but cruising speed isn't fast enough. With force of will and a generous heaping of magic, you pour energy into the crystal and tell the Jormungandr to speed up.It shudders, and speeds up.Ragnarok starts chuckling. . but then Gehenna, fully healed, tackles him, and starts pummeling him. No magic, no special, artful attacks, just mindless, angry punches. . and pecking. The pecking is certainly odd.A crux is occurring to the north, the heart informs you. Likely something involving the sacrificial knife."Raziel, Gehenna, Ell." You say. "Would it be possible to translocate the ship, like we did before? We have no time to lose.""Yes." Gehenna says, pulling away from his unconscious brother, his beak covered in blood. "I have the Fell. I can do literally anything with it. Great power, at great cost."

rolled 39 = 39Lets hide the knife somewhere within the tower. Won't break the spell but they will think we moved it away and most likely not search for it.
You close your eyes, and pour even more energy into elementals, trying to make them materialize inside the tower. . but it's too far, and the elementals fall apart, wasting your energy. Your muscles start to ache. . So you try Moving the sacrifices, but they elude your grasp. Your lungs start laboring- it's getting hard to breathe. You look out, over the horizon, and see the tower far in the distance. You don't have enough time. . "What kind of cost? Just those mutants?""I came here, even though I am very bad at translocating, didn't I?" He asked. "The Fell is the reason I could come. .but also the reason I was so badly injured. I don't know what the cost will be this time, but you were right. Time is of the essence. I must do this thing."He clenched the Fell tightly, lowered his head, and started chanting. Slowly, calmly, completely unlike the standard 'three second spells' you've seen so much from the Kalak.

rolled 43 = 43>>19675130We can't let him take all of the cost, or however it's going to work. Can we make it so that we're involved in the 'cost' as well, or will the artifact do that automatically because of our strong desire to get there and stop this from happening?
rolled 76 = 76>>19675033let me help you>Hopefully if this is a good roll Exabyte doesn't ignore it again.

>>19675287We did say we wanted the longsword at least because Kristoph expressed interest in wielding it.>>19675287It won't kill Kracknick will it?And let us weigh the options:On one hand we prevent the resurrection of Eidolon, that dick of an elven wizard who has caused a shit-ton of trouble for us and the world in general. On the other, one tribe of Kobolds dies.I think it's a fair trade.
>>19675306You specifically said the roll was for diplomacy, not spells. And the last line was kind of unclear.
>>19675306>I simply can't take every single roll that's ever rolled on the thread. Either you'd fail so many spells that you die, or you cast eight different successful spells that do different things to the same subject. And die from over-expenditure of magic. Also, some difficult spells have custom DCs that are higher than 50, and some easy spells have custom DCs that are lower. All 'signature' spells usually have no DC at all.You reach into your armor, and draw out all of it's power, refilling your magic to the brim. You don't need to move the knife out of the tower. .you can just move it to a different room. You close your eyes, and reach out with your magic, gripping the artifact. It trembles in the kobold shaman's hand. . and then you tear it away, Moving it to the safe-room Azariel had mentioned. It was hidden, you recall, so it will take the kobolds some time to find it."No, I just bought us some more time." You tell Gehenna. He stops chanting. . but keeps the ring clenched tightly in his hand.
>>19675405How are we doing physically? Out of breath, et cetera stuff

>>19675370>Killing the poor kobolds who never wanted any trabble and were probably oppressed by some godawful cult Ragnarok set up, including CHILDREN.No. That is not how Ishelda rolls. Gehenna is making some form of sacrifice with the Fell, which is horrible, but she does it of her own free will and may survive. We are not taking innocent lives just because it's more convenient. If Eidolon comes back, we need only look to one of the slightly-dilapidated walls of the Tower and pull out a brick to cave his head in with once again.
>>19675405>Specialty is time magic, not diplomancy>Still has DC over 75>WUT
>>19675234.... Pity this didn't work. Alright preptime, see if we can't refill any magic storage and make sure Riker is with us. When we transported the knife did we get an idea where in tower they were?
The tower looms up, as you approach, and Ragnarok is still completely unconscious on the deck. Grayson, Ell, Raziel, Kaliel, Dariel, Kristoph, Marigold, Gehenna, and Redglare are by your side, on the deck as well. You close your eyes, and measure your own energy. You don't have a lot- in fact, even a simple spell would most likely make your muscles ache once more. But your physical energy. . You draw Rikar, and you're glad you'd done training with Kristoph and Redglare. Even without magic, as long as you hold your blade, you're most likely a force to be reckoned with. The airship shudders to a stop, and two kobolds hold up spears toward you, peering out from the large window that is serving as the doorway- It's closest to the throne room, where the shaman and the sacrifices were."You can't come in! The boss said not to let anyone stop us!" The kobolds say."They're very tiny." Redglare mentioned, drawing his axes.

"Stand down, Redglare. There's no need for violence. Not yet." You say."'Course." Redglare responded, and sheathed his axe. The kobolds looked to one another, then back to you."We have your boss right here." You say, and point at Ragnarok, who is lying bloodied and broken on the deck. "He can't make you kill your kids anymore."There's a moment of silence."Of course, boss, we'll let you in, lickety-split." One of the kobolds said, and they lower their spears. "Go tell the shaman, Urdrak."The other kobold ran off, and you urge Grayson to kalaksit Ragnarok.Grayson harrumphs in agreement, and then growls. "How are you doing, Kell?" You ask, and the troll makes a 'graaw' noise in response. It's funny- the plant being doesn't even have a mouth or eyes, yet somehow it can make noise and act as if it sees. You leave the room, and come back with a basketfull of fresh berries for Grayson, and some fresh bread for Ragnarok. You set it down on a plate."I'm calling it a night and dealing with him tomorrow." You tell Grayson, as Kell hugs your shoulder from within your arms. The dire bear harrumphs, nods, and then starts chowing down on the berries. You check Ragnarok for weapons, but all you find is an unenchanted dagger. Taking it and Kell with you, you close the door behind you, and hear it click locked again as Grayson locks it."Stop us over Raziel's digsite." You call up to Ell. "Hurry back, be safe."Raziel corralled the kobolds away from a certain area of the jormungandr's deck, and slammed the base of her staff into the ground. A great, shimmering dragon spectre appeared, and you climbed on."Wait, wait." Gehenna said, grabbing Raziel's sleeve. "Don't forget. Bring a seed back up here. I need to close the loop.""Uh. . sure, Gehenna." She said, looking at him as if he were mad. Then she climbed up on to the spectre's back, and urged it off of the jormungandr. The two of you flew down, purple sparks dancing along your skin as the astral fire is burned away by your ward. "Inside the tunnel." Raziel told the dragon, and it dove down, pulling back it's wings and skidding into the tunnel. As soon as you got out of the open, the sparks stopped.Completely.Panicked, you check the ward, to make sure it's still there. . and it is, at about half power. We're fixing it."She raised an arm in the air and whooped, then climbed down off of the spectre. "Let's go check the flower out." She said, grinning. The two of you go down through her room, into the deeper caverns, past the hall with tables covered in skeletons. . And then you see it, in the large, damp room. It's a single, small flower, midnight black in color, and with exactly thirteen petals, each petal similar to the ones on a Galadriel's Light.Pulsing with magic power, several small buds sat in the flower's stem. Only one of the buds had hardened, and was jutting out of it- A seed.As you look at the seed, you have a strong sense of deja vu. You had seen it once before. .
