Back in the stands, your eyes shoots open as an incredible magical force explodes from nowhere.A fiery shockwave blows through the woods and onto the track, directly into the runner’s line.It then carries on into the stands adjacent to you.In the next instant, you’re bathed in light, heat, and screams.Hanako squeaks and cuddles against Hisao.You do likewise, preparing to defend him if it’s required…But the blast misses your part of the stands.Everything goes silent as the world around you burns.Lilly’s smiles falters a bit as her expression becomes pensive.Judging by her and Hanako’s reactions… this was probably not supposed to happen.Still…“EMI!” Hisao breaks the silence, tearing himself free of yourself and Hanako as he bolts down onto the field.The thought is only a second ahead of yours and before you know it, you’ve lunged to your feet as well, racing towards the blast-scar with Hisao.

He finds Akira.With a hole blown clean through her chest.His strength leaving him, he falls to his knees, staring down at the sight.Overcome with pain both physical and emotional, he clenches his eyes shut.No matter what kind of monster Akira was… After taking an attack like that……“Hideaki Hakamichi.” His name rings out in a clear relaxed voice.Shocked, his eyes shoot open to find Akira lazily staring up at him with her aberrant crimson gaze.“What is ‘death’?”Her wound ripples away as if water returning to a still state.Unconcerned, she rises to her feet.Her clothes haven’t regenerated, though… And he forces himself to stare at Akira’s shins.“You’re… alive?”She giggles. “I’ve never been able to imagine myself dying…” She muses, breaking out a hip flask. “So I doubt I ever will.”Finishing her swig, she turns to her minion and smiles cheerfully. “That is divine providence.”Hideaki processes this for a moment, then finally opens his mouth to speak. “We… Are starting to get pretty obscure with our references here.”Akira shrugs. “Oh, this is nothing. Just wait until Shizune’s route when I’m ripping off of Clair Leonelli.”With that, she yanks him to his feet.The two saunter off to see what fun’s transpired at the Athletic Field in their absence…[Part 17 Cliffhanger]
