There are no firewalls that can stand in the way of your mad skills, and as the program you've scripted scrapes all the information it can find on Mr. Dantexis you begin to notice that something is off. While the primary documents and the secondary backups of the various conglomerates his name is attached to refer to him as a partner and team member, none of the tertiary or quatinary backups mention a word of him. Also, the security footage you manage to find of some of the meetings these documents claim he was at show no clips nor words nor even nametag of a John Q. Looking at the clock, you notice it's getting a bit late, nearing midnight, almost.>Wat Do?============>Be the Sandboxed DaedalusYou have yet again received new orders. Open up the parameters to additional nearby unis - though none of them quite have the Rep that the University has, they are still good enough to attract the parents of pre and post natal augmented children, as well as the brighter stars of the baselines. There are seventeen marksmen who fall under the parameters <Skilled, Pubescent, Female>. >First to Three: iGlassesHow was that even a question? You're not exactly bad with computers, but the iGlasses suit your purposes quite nicely - sure, it's 'truncated', but the interface is much smoother than anything that Microsoft or Google ever came out with. Plus, the warez are more utility centric - you've got a program to start up your compiler with breakfast the moment you put them on!So about thirty seconds later, you're sitting at your table munching on an Open Source Omelete. It tastes like -freedom-.One of your notifications pops up. Prof Engels needs you over in the Medical Wing five minutes ago - apparently some fracking ludd decided to not eliminate their predisposition to heart attacks, and couldn't grab the medichine's in time. >Wat Do?
>>19868751Finish omelette, attempt to time travel back to 5 mins ago, probably fail, go to medical wing.

MediWing. NOW.Eat on the way. Try not to bump into any protagonists.
>>19868751finish dat Omeletecan't waste FREEDOM on people who are retarded
You toss what's left of the omelete between your toast and stuff the impromptu sandwich between your teeth, out the door in record time. Not that it'll matter, though - more than likely, the ludd's already dead and they just want you to transfer cortical stack to a recreational server until they can get a clone of his old morph - or perhaps a new one built custom for him. This'll be the fifth time this month some idiot's dropped dead because they refuse even basic gene therapy, and then expect the doctors to work through their mistakes. You have no idea why the ReaDS allows this. Probably because it's supposed to be an apolitical entity. It could be worse, though, you could be on a religious colony. You shudder, remembering the classes regarding certain Abramic practices. After making a token attempt to travel back in time, you all but sprint towards the medical wing. It is a stark building, pristine white on its insides, and very sterile. You throw some scrubs over your clothes, and are in the ER six minutes after deadline. Prof Engels nods at you, and points to a lovely looking cadaver."We already got cortical out of him," the doctor says. "You can either go on shock counciling, or get on one of these three."There are three others in pretty bad shape. One looks like a nanological incident, the other seems to have burns that the medichines are being awfully slow about fixing, and the third is a cyborg who managed to break their artificed legs.>Wat Do?

>First to Three: Shock Counselling."I just had breakfast," she says, eying some of the messier wounds, "I'd rather it get a chance to digest before I lose it, Prof."The older man nods, and points you to the VR Chamber. "I was hoping you'd say that. That man's been all but inconsolible, maybe you can talk some sense into him." He shuffles off to look over the other trainees' work - doubtless full of errors. You're the oldest one here, besides Prof and Alpha-78E "Charlie", the three century old infomorph. The VR room is an interconnective point between the recreational server where deceased patients wait until they have new bodies can interact with medical staff via motion/sensor non-voneuman nanites. Until the room is activated, it's just a large cylinder filled with greyish blue dust. When you walk into it, the holographics start up and what surrounds you looks less like a medical facility and more like the beaches of a warm archipelaego world. Before you stand's the shell shocked man, an exact replica of the cadaver on the table. "Pleasure to meet you. I'm Reimu."The man doesn't respond, instead looking around at the area surrounding the contact point. It is as though he is taking it in for the first time, the entirety of the world, and he is overwhelmed, subsumed by the rising tide of death which obfuscates his perception. Quite clearly, he is afraid, alone, unsure."Your first time dying, I take it?" She pats the back of her own neck, reminding herself that her cortical stack is there. "Are you enjoying the recreational servers?"The man flinches at the word dying, and looks horrified. "How... how is any of this real?"You shrug. "The wonders of modern technology. It used to be that when you died, there weren't rec servers, and you were just stuck in limbo until they found you a new body.""That's my body," he says, "Isn't it?">Wat Do?>Roll to console if consoling: 1d20+Smarts-Stubborn+5(iGlasses)

"Whatever confusion, or fear, or anger that you're going through right now. I've been there, and it was a lot worse than a heart attack, trust me." You clasp the ghost of the man on his shoulder. "Then how about putting a dampener on your cholesterol levels?""If it will keep me from having to see this." He gestures at his corpse again. "Then... yeah. I think I could live with that.""Good." You make a gesture, noting to the computer that the standard genefix battery should be applied to the new clone. "Now, the last thing I need to do is check for consistency in your Cortical Stack. To make sure you didn't lose anything while you were out." The first question flashes through your eyes. "What was the last thing you remember doing, before you died?""I remember losing my arglasses - both pairs - somewhere on my way home from work. I'm not exactly sure how, but I do remember running all over the house trying to find them, and then I'm here, rather confused about the whole thing.""Okay." The second question comes up. Hell, we don't even need to give them new ones, assuming we can hack the old into not updating their social profile with inconvenient information like "currently in the area being attacked by monsters" and such. Though upgrades are always nice.

>>19872561That was sort of the point of having special transformation accessories / communications devicesIt sidesteps the whole "in horrible alien rape zone" questions that may pop up on their social profilesI think we need to get Reimu and Minaka to cook something so we can get the "tastes like freedom" common ground out and then work from there to get Reimu to be less of a bitch about Anne not being gene modded.Although her being a bitch seems to be more from her past and maybe her death and / or her family's if they we part of the whole drowning episode

Pushing much beyond what they already have excluding Anne requires cybernetics instead of removable equipment.
>>19872997But the powered armor is cooler!
>>19872997Eh, PreCure and Nanoha kinda dodged that trope; you get seen by a friend, you get recognized instantly.
>>19873087Yeah they arhe's out the only two ever though.I honestly think they actually did it just to dodge the tropeI just think powered armour is a bit stupid as far as this goes. Maybe mecha if they fight something huge but otherwise giving them the usual pack and sending the, off to blow shit up seems to be a good plan
I think people are arguing two different points here. The guy in favor of the nanotech silk is arguing that it would be more appropriate to the theme and setting, and the two(?) guys in favor of the power armor are arguing that it would be cooler.IMO, both things are true.
>>19873167My suggestion? Domino masks. Completely legit.
>>19872936The point's not that it makes them stick out, the point is that it's more inconvenient. And if glasses they normally wear can be part of the suit, they'd require modding anyway, and at that point the arglasses are ready to use for communication. Transformation, however, probably will have to be a separate thing.>>19872997You are aware that there isn't actually any magic at all in this story, right? It's a moot point anyway, I offered a couple explanations I'd accept for hiding their identities in that post.If we're able to get the equivalent boostage of power armor from nanites, I'm totally fine with nanites or whatever.I disagree with your interpretation that power armor isn't a viable boost, due to this:> A 10 would generally require machinery to reach.I guess it comes down to what you consider machinery to be, though.
>>19873286I didn't mean specifically magic but I meant more whatever handwavium explanations that got used so that the girls who look exactly like they do except they are wearing a frilly costume and a tiara while shooting massive energy beams at things workMaybe we have part of their equipment screw with vid capture of them, maybe it makes them return a blank ID scan. Whatever is decided works
Ultimately, it comes down to what type of MG we want to produce.Unarmed CQC, caster class, high-speed bombardment, speedster, support… what are we going for? >>19873167That, PLUS power armour will probably have a less permissive learning curve.Something else: Modes of movement -- Pink has amateurish flight training (Her SimuSense game) and speed, but making Brown airborne will be asking for a world of pain.Thoughts?
>>19873286Given the explanation we were given where a 9 is throwing people around like rag dolls I was expecting 10 and above to be industrial level machinery strength.I think one thing we need to look at is can we make our girls fly? Or are we just going to go for the improved mobility optin
I don't think we know enough of the setting to speculate on the magical-ness of the girls.Perhaps we should stick to designing test for now
All this is good, but I'd like to make a suggestion. It's not that I don't mostly trust these kids not to do anything stupid, but we might want to put failsafes in the nanites/weapons/power armor/whateverthefuck we give the them. Not, like, a bomb or anything, just a remote shutoff. Just in case.By the way, while we're talking about what we'd dress little girls up in, we don't necessarily have to give them all the same kid of stuff. For example, Miyaka seems perfect for a suit of power armor, perhaps colored and polished to resemble an ancient suit of armor. However, Reimu would be good in a red nanoweave coat, with nanites/ a shielding system to help with her lower stats. Anne, I dunno what she should look like.
>>19873259Now watch me flex my /co/ muscles:Top row - Barbara Gordon, Robin Redblade, Stephanie Brown, Tengu, Richard Grayson (Earth 2, precrisis), Robin (Detective no. 27), Redbird, Carrie Kelley, Richart Graustark, Jason Todd, Tom WayneBottom row - Richard Grayson (Dark Knight of the Round Table), Tim Drake, Boy, Dick Grayson, Damian Wayne, Tris Plover, Robin (Just IMagine Stan Lee), Robin the Toy Wonder, Robin Drake
>>19873545Bravo, sir.
>>19873471Well, if we have any luck at all, we'll have time to train them in at least the basics. And hopefully get them to not hate each other while we're at it.Also is everybody cool with the codenames Pendragon, Merlin, and Lancelot?
>>19873518> AnneImage related.Give chainsaw sword to pink, replace it with a crossbow and keep the ears.
>>19873545Dick Grayson is my favorite DC character. He's all the greatest parts of Batman, minus the HORRIFIC TRAGEDY that makes being Batman DEEPLY UNAPPEALING. Plus, he's led a ton of DC teams and actually has been Batman a couple times.
>>19873518Well yeah I expected it would be obvious to have them in differing equipmentWe have a tech wizard, archer and brawler so no point in giving them all the same gear.At the same time we want them to all have boosted overall stats so they can all defend themselves
>>19873636Honestly? Dick Grayson as Batman mentoring Damian Wayne is my favorite Batman of all time.
>>19873714That run WAS incredible, from people noticing the little differences between Bruce and Dick's approaches to its inversion of the "Grim Batman, cheery Robin" dynamic. I love it.
>>19873725Murdering psychopath on a leash Robin is pretty fantastic.
What if we had Nanites change their hair/eye colour and style as well as giving a publicly unreadable ID when they are fighting? That would work I expect
>>19873714>>19873725>>19873741/tg/ - Comics & CartoonsEven I can't deny that Batman is everything that is awesome, but could we get back on topic? Or at least pretend to suggest that we should be turning these magical girls into magical bat-girls?
>>19873767Well going that path for Anne seems to be a good idea since she has the most need of gadgetsThe other two could be like a magical girl Hawkeye and Daredevil/Deadpool I guess
>>19873636>Dick Grayson>minus the HORRIFIC TRAGEDY>Entire family was murdered>>19873629For the weapon, I'd make it some sort of stick that had magic-esque properties, like it fired a bunch of lasers or shot fireballs or something. Giving her a crossbow horns in on Reimu's turf.Weapon aside, seems great to me except for the ears and maybe the silly-looking stockings.
>>19873792Yeah, but he doesn't ever brood about it like Bruce does AT EVERY OPPORTUNITY.You never hear Dick whining "MY PARENTS ARE DEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAD"
>>19873762Melee for Pinkie, Guns for Blue, Magic for the 'sline?
Right, I'm going to post some thoughts I want to get down, and then I'm going to go to bed.The only name I could find for Merlin's staff was from some book series, and it was "Ohnyalei"Reimu's weapon should totally be dual swords that combine to form a bow. Or dual swords/dual pistols. That's it, as I assume everybody knows that Lancelot's sword is name Arondight. So night all.
>>19873792I was thinking more gauntlets/gloves or a ring that can generate shields for Anne. They could also shoot lasers and act as a hacking/tech suite for her
>>19873977so... Swords for Pinkie, Guns for Reimu and magic for Annie?
>>19873767>magical bat-girls>sufficiently advanced technology>debate between power armor and nano-techWell...this suit DOES increase the wearer's strength by a factor of ten...
>>19873977That's good too. Just not the ring, that's just asking for jokes about it.>>19873815Pretty much, though we want options for Minaka at range and Reimu up close.
>>19874010
>>19874015How about they have something like in tron with the rod that forms a base for their various equipment? Blue can turn hers into various guns etc and Pink can turn hers into melee weaponsOr gauntlets with the same effect
>>19874010Actually, that is a pretty good middle ground. It's cloth-like, small, but still very robust and packed full of neat stuff.I for one, approve.
>>19874035That is MUCH too busy.
>>19874076That's just what the 'innards' look like, in actuality it's almost completely covered in black, excepting only the eyes, chest emblem, and utility belt.
>wake up looking forward to reading what happened in magical girl quest>get up, read this>batman errywhere>pointless debate and speculation about what we're going to give the girls when we haven't even recruited them yet, or even know what's available.WTF is WRONG with you, night crew?
>>19874172Well what would you have done then? Pointless speculation and crazy ideas is about all we could do given READS was away and not able to tell us what is and isn't possible
I'm fully in favor of having asymmetric equipment. If we go with a duo, have one in cloth and one in powered armor. Make the powered armor physically weaker but more functional. Also, speed enhancements, Vanquish-style. Imagine the awesomeness of hacking/hacking stuff apart in bullet-time.
>>19874352Powered armor magical girls.What is this i don't even.
>>19874366They are going down that path in Nanoha Force manga, actually.
>>19874374>inb4 Force Hateforce
>>19874366Something that is stupid even in stupidityUnless you want to start counting bubblegum crisis as a mahou shoujo series>>19874352Well we have three planned so light for brown with an emphasis on shields or avoiding combatMedium or semi plated for blue so she is a balance of speed/ranged and taking a hit for when she needs to be in closeAnd full plated heavy for pink with the emphasis on being a brawler
>>19874432Give brown a full-body environmental suit for operation in hazardous environments.Give blue stealth options and ways for being active for extended periods of time.Give pink tons of armor and speed upgrades.
>>19874456Well if shielding tech can do that we could dual purpose it or otherwise have her suit able to do that, I had thought we would have those sorts of things in all the suits as a standard thing since they could be fighting anywhere
>>19874432>>19874366>power armor isn't mahou shoujoWho says we have to abide by the tropes or definitions? I say we go for rule of cool.FYI, power armor is very, very cool. GW has their entire business built around that fact. And then Blizzard built an even more successful business around that second-hand fact, so much so that THE ENTIRE ECONOMY AND NATIONAL PASSTIME OF A REAL COUNTRY DEPENDS UPON THAT BUSINESS!tl;dr, South Korea dies as a country if we don't put the loli into power armor. My logic is unassailable.
>>19874465Yeah, but there's people that don't want suits so I thought we should do a compromise - Suit, armor, cloth.
>>19874471Sounds good we could use less people on this worldAnd power armour is cool for big men fighting unspeakable horrors in a grimdark universe. In a nanotech post scarcity setting it is more than a little retarded putting loli's into it even more soNow if we had them with giant mecha as well then I would gladly throw them into that shit
>>19874471Ok, I admit it, I lost my shit while reading that. Also reminds me of pic related.
>>19874487Giant mechs are boring and, quite frankly, don't make much sense.Powered armor is way more awesome.Iron Man, Samus, That guy from Vanquish, The Nanosuit... I love powered armor.
>>19874487It's not retarded given that the greatest stat boost specifically mentions requiring mechanical aid.
Power armor isn't a space suit - although it can serve as one. It is not primarily armor - although the Knights of the Round Table were not armored as well. Power armor is not a ship but it can fly, a little - on the other hand neither spaceships nor atmosphere craft can fight against a little girl in power armor, except by saturation bombing of the area she is in.
> power armour vs. frillsUhm, whynotboth.jpgIf we give them Symphogear or Revolverknuckles, they'll look both fashionable AND be well-protected.Especially Pink would probably benefit from channeling her rage into punching things REALLY. FUCKING. HARD.
>>19874502And on that note mecha are stupider than powered armour?I love power armour as well but I know when it shouldn't be used>>19874521Yeah mechanical. Not necessarily power armour capable because the explanation of levels 8 and 9 strength are already beyond the realms of average human limits and they are a non linear progression from what I understood
>>19874580>And on that note mecha are stupider than powered armour?Based purely on physics, a mecha doesn't make much sense. It's extremely hard to maintain, the legs are vulnerable, the vertical profile is huge and the whole system needs to be way too complicated to actually work, compared to a tank.Powered armor, meanwhile, supports infantry and infantry is far from useless.
So, just to make this clear:Do we go powered armor for everyone or do we make a compromise and say fully sealed armor for brown, supporting armor (open but still providing protection and enhancements) for blue and no powered armor for pink?
>>19874600Wait, what? Why wouldn't pink have armor? She's the melee fighter.
Hey, how about derailing the campaign and going full Supreme Commander? It seems like the necessary tech exists. If we can't get enough ressource, we can still do a small-scale version with drones and whatnot.
>>19874595Except it has all the issues that a mecha has minituarized
>>19874606Ssshhhhh....when the time comes, friend. When the time comes.
>>19874605Yes, she needs to be fast.If there's no direct mind-link, powered armor would be lagging slightly, which is an issue for the melee fighter.Doesn't mean that she wouldn't be armored. She'd just not have powered armor.
>>19874608>minituarizedActually, the fact that it's miniaturized kills about 90% of all issues a mech has.Fuck, powered armor is already on the way into the military. There's a system that provide soldiers with the ability to carry twice or thrice as much equipment and supressing the recoil of heavy weaponry.
>>19874619That's part of why powered armour itself isn't a good idea. Also the enemies have shown to only not kill girls except by collateral and they even try to avoid that. If we put them in powered armour that could easily take away that safety measure
>>19874608LolwutEasier to maintain than a mecha due to size. Any vulnerabilities are due to the fact that you literally cannot do away with them without also radically changing the shape of the human inside. But if you scale up at all to the point where the human inside can move around without actually moving the suit? Then it's a vehicle, and you can change the shape, and it makes sense to do so.
>>19874619>>19874627You guys are hearing powered armor and thinking space marine with inch thick steel plating that weighs as much as a car.But >>19874035 is also an example of powered armor, one that's very light weight. In fact, that particular example actually INCREASES speed and mobility, in addition to strength.
>>19874623Yeah I have seen that, it is still terribly limited both in power and use and doesn't look viable for at least a decadeNone of that changes that power armour is not suitable for this setting or the way we have been going with it so far which is why I am opposed to it in the first place
>>19874636>speed Depends on which kind of speed you are talking about. If it's not black carapace or neural implant, it will increase your overall landspeed, but create lag for all of your movements. (Imagine punching someone, the system kicking in a fourth of a second after the movement starts, the enemy avoiding it and you not being able to pull back because your punch has just been augmented to throw you forward)
>>19874653> for at least a decadeThey are already working on generation two, which will be useable on the battlefield. It can be used for days.
>>19874660Well given we are working with nanotechnology we could have neural links going
>>19874665Really? Because everything I have heard says that the power supplies die in 1/2 to 2 hours use due to the drain
>>19874653In the case of that particular batman beyond armor, it actively scanned the body for which muscles were being activated and deactivated, predicted the intended movement based on that, and then did that movement /faster/ than the human inside actually could.
>>19874660We already have the technology for cortical stacks. Why wouldn't any armor system we build have neural links to the user?
>>19874606>going full Supreme Commander?Because READS already tried that and found that the enemy nanite swarm does not give a shit, and has been pretty much unstoppable against conventional forces and attacks.Using girls is the only recourse we have, next to Gray Goo, because it takes advantage of a flaw in the enemy nanite IFF system.
>>19874720Which is another reason to go against power armour since it could fuck with that IFF and not get the glitch to occur
One thing, are we going to get them a ship or three separate ships? We might not be limited to just fighting this whatever it is on planet
>>19875120>One thing, are we going to get them a ship or three separate ships? We might not be limited to just fighting this whatever it is on planet>NEVER seperate the Sentai; it's about on the level as splitting up in a haunted house.Once a group of Magical Girls has teamed up, they have to stay together or die alone. It's in the Rules.
>>19875166Yeah not splitting them but one ship could be bigger and have more dakka and flashy bits where three ships could pick them up and deliver them to wherever they needed to be and be quicker Also three ships could combine into an ultra mega blaster cannon for their final attack
Does anyone here know what a magnetic monopole is?
>>19875761If I say yes are you going anywhere with it? It's not like they are the hardest thing to comprehend
>>19875761MagnetMono = onePoleOne poled magnet
Well I learned about them at this site>www.orionsarm.com
>>19874671Yes, that's the initial version. Obviously, no military would use that. But that version made the military interested, causing the company to make a new model with longer fuel capacity (I'm not even sure if it's running on electricity or something else).I know there was an article on Wired. Unfortunately, the Wired search sucks balls.
>>19876219Ah ok. Because I was watching it with great interest and was disappointed when their "great advances" meant a couple of hours of movement if you have a battery pack half the size of the unit itself at maxAlways wanted power armour
>>19876280Found it:>http://www.wired.com/dangerroom/2012/05/combat-exoskeleton-afghanistan/>Lockheed originally rolled out HULC in 2010, but in a heavier, bulkier form that tended to run down its batteries in just an hour. The current model can go for up to eight hours “on the march,” and lasts “days and days” on a single charge if you’re just standing guard with a machine gun. Lockheed is still working on a fuel cell meant to provide 72 hours of power in even the most strenuous conditions.
>>19876357That is cool
On the subject of flight:Assuming we're taking all three, and we're going with a pink-brawler/blue-archer/brunette-tech (or long range magic) then than only the pink needs flight to chase the evil in case they they to fly away, blue would only need a bonus to jumping and then a hovering ability (To get to the right height/position for a good shot or cover fire) and brunette would be fine for just advanced acrobatics/parkour and reaction time (To get away in case THE EVIL tried to attack the squishy wizard)
>>19876484I think they should need basic flight so they can fight big creatures or airborne threats but for long distance travel have some ships
>>19876557Indeed. There is no reason to not give them all flight capability.
>>19876583>>19876557That makes sense, in hindsight.no need to act as if there's limits in a post-scarcity society.
>>19876614But not having limits is kind of boring.I prefer specialization and low powerlevels. Or else we'll get Nanoha's issues.
>>19876664Specializations are nice but dealing with a giant Nanites something swarm that makes a post scarcity AI go "OHFUCKOHFUCKOHFUCK" means throwing power levels out the window. We can restrict their access to powers to begin with but they need exterminatus level capabilities to deal with something that scary
>>19876614There are limitis in a post-scarcity society. It's just that all the basic stuff (food, education, lodgings, transport maybe, entertainment) is freely disponible.
>>19876664There are limits, but those limits are things like our technology level, not things like the number of flight units we can get our hands on to try and save humanity. The enemy is more advanced than us and essentially immortal, I'm sure it will be challenging enough not to get boring.
>>19876724I like that idea.>>19876709For the common being? There are limits. For magical girls with support from the god-AI and the galactic government/military? I'm sure we could pull some strings to get what we want/need.
So, every member of the team will need:A Meelee weapon.A Ranged weapon. A means of propulsion (flight or at least superjump)An outfit that makes them recogniztable from a distance as little girls. (i.e. Seifuku)A new visor (although we of course had the foresight to give the ones we dropped all the necessary modifications)
>>19876769I think you got your links reversed there
>>19876888About that. Each should have their specialty, their general weapon and their backupI mentioned before brown can get tech use/hacking and shields as her specialty and maybe lasers / force punches as her weapons based on her shield powersBlue can get unlimited dakka works style weapon generation, any projectile weapon that fits the situation she needs and probably firing sparkly laser projectiles with a blade or a bladed bow as a meleePink can get melee weapons of all flavors and maybe thrown weapons for ranged
>not going full Samus with blueWe will make her into a god.
>>51967891So I did. So I did.
>>19876888Pink>A Meelee weapon.Quarterstaff of reinforced fists a-la Hibiki/Subaru.>A Ranged weapon. Waste of her talents to weigh her down with options (mentally, that is), but she can have wrist blasters.>A means of propulsion (flight or at least superjump)Hover board for dramatic rescue.>>19876888Anna>A Meelee weapon.>A Ranged weapon.Staff.Preferably with something REALLY FUCKING HOT coming out of its business end.>A means of propulsion (flight or at least superjump)I think the least intrusive would be to reduce her weight through anti-grav and have her jump around. She really doesn't seem like the athletic type that easily adjusts to high-stress, high-speed air combat. As for blue, I say we go with (>>19876967))>Blue can get unlimited dakka works style weapon generation, any projectile weapon that fits the situation she needs and probably firing sparkly laser projectiles with a blade or a bladed bow as a meleeSaid.
>>19876979A bitchy, bitchy god.In fact, Samus' power suit is a pretty good example of power armor we could use, as well as the Batman Beyond suit.Space Marines are not. There are also plenty of more "slim" power armor designs within 40k, such as that used by the Sisters.
>>19877089Well it is mainly as a backup and just having her throw her weapon then generate or recall it seems easierWrist blasters are cool too though. I was thinking somewhat like Dio Brando or Sakuya with the "ohgodkniveskniveseverywhere" spam
>>19877123indeed, we don't have to go full bulky marines.Samus' arm cannon is also unlimited dakka works
>>19877123People focusing on 40k in the first place is I think the main issue with power armourI wouldn't mind using something like Samus's armour for blue, maybe without the MASSIVE PAULDRONS tm attached but overall I just don't think they fit the settingSomething like mass effect armour would suit if we wanted to go proper armour
>>19877182It's also pretty boring as far as it goesYes it can shoot multiple types of beams and missiles and shit but it is just a cannon and it is always just a cannon
>>19876979Yeah, give them powered armor with the ability to add absolutely any technology as upgrade.Goo enemies create huge lasers? Destroy the lasers and use them as handguns!
>>19877202>shoot plasma>electricity>energy balls>singularities>huge frozen zones>then the weapon combosit not how the gun looks, it's how effective it is. also, this >>19877225
>>19877202No, it's all kinds of stuff. The whole point of the power suit is that it can integrate fucking EVERYTHING.Canonically, Samus stole a fuckhuge mining laser and transformed it into an upgrade. Not to mention the semi-melee options like the grapple beam and versatility via gravity suit.
>>19877254Except people seem to be forgetting a large part of the whole good / bad thing with magical girls is the presentation. We could throw them in terminator armour and give them cyclonic torpedo launchers but it wouldn't be right because that is just boring really
>>19877259If we can keep from bitching about Other M, Samus does quite well in melee as long as it not twice her size. All those takedown kills. uuugghh
I want at least one of them to have guerilla skills, á la Crysis.Invisibility, speed, super-sniping, telescoping vision with enhanced hearing, etc.Fuck, I want us to replicate something like this:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHv7Laj3JiM&list=PLFB61EEB46299B48B&index=7&feature=plpp_videoTeach the goo what fear is. The Samus option is equally awesome for that purpose.
>>19877259>>19877254And it is still just a cannonIt is a tube with a hole at one endWhy even bother doing the whole bullshit with testing them and checking their compatibility if we just throw them in standard spacesuit mk4536873678282947589 and tell them to go for it
>>19877294Yeah, one of the few decent aspects of M:oM.Not to mention the smash bros moves like bombing an enemy into his face as distraction.
>>19877123If we're going with power armor, can we go with something like the armor Phaethon had in The Golden Age? It was made of some indestructible material that had to be built atom by atom. It gave him the ability to survive in the heart of a star. He wasn't unstoppable, but damn if he wasn't near so.
>>19877300>standard spacesuitI guess you just can't read. Or you are trying to be ignorant.
>>19877317No I am looking at a setting where an entire supercomputer is distilled into a pair of fucking glasses and people are saying lets throw them in boring ass armour
>Come back from dealing with car salesmen all day.>See thread filled with debates on what tech to strap on the girls.I friggin love you guys. Now by the count, the winner is>Be the Demi-God Like AIJust want to make sure that's still consensus before I continue.
>>19877377Yep let's play Demi god
>>19877330>boring ass armourYou quite obviously have no fucking clue about the power armor. It's exactly the kind of weapon we need to battle the goo threat - It's just as adaptable. If we want lower-level we can utilize the Vanquish suit, which can at least copy weaponry exactly.
>>19877330Personally I like to think of Samus' suit as a superconducting nanite swarm. It explains why she dies at zero power(no power for shields), how the gun changes ammo type(reconfigures freely), how she transforms into a tiny ball, and how it eats tech.
>>19877377Welcome back commander.Yes, we AI nao!
>>19877377We are a weird people.LET'S GET READY TO GODMODE!
>>19877393Actually I do, I have played all the metroid games repeatedly but my point is you have armour which basically does it's job for real life which protects everything and eliminates all semblance of it being a person. You want that when you are fighting people or living beings not unknown aliens things that only have their IFF screwed with by little girls. Also we looked for someone who specifically did ARCHERY not guns or lasers or other sparkly shit if we want to get someone to use those then we should probably look for someone other than blue because the idea then was lets get her a bow
>>19877397It can also interact with ghosts and counter spiritual attacks. It's actually a spiritual construct (Which is one of the few aspects of the Japanese design that I actually consider canon). Also, it can all kinds of energy. Including life energy. That's why enemies drop health. Samus has the same ability as a Metroid, even before Fusion.
>>19877426There's no reason why a power suit wouldn't have a bow.Or hell, go for broke and do a Nanosuit v2. I hate Crysis 3, but that one is actually quite fitting.Though it would come with the drawback of being more invasive than any other augmentation could ever hope to be...
>>19877426>bitches that we have ai in a goggles>worried about aim... not sure if serious or troll
>>19877439It's not even the particular suit that is the problem but the idea of suits themselves. We have the entire weird word of crazy shit at our disposal and you guys have come in lately with the most boring options of them. We can do everything a suit could do without the actual full power suit, it isn't necessary except for maybe boosting strength that bit more
>>19877426>Implying power armor can't have a hole for the face/hairThat'd also go a long way towards making it less visually boring, I think.
>>19877458There have been two threads. you don't get to claim fucking johnny come lately. Know what, I don't give a fuck about you.Voting for Samus suit.
>>19877444Worried about aim? How the hell do you get that.If anything I am worried about that it seestandings three people came in and decided they wanted to go a complete 180 from how the entire thread beforehand was going
>>19877483Deal with it, I voted for Power armor.

>>19877527Seconded.
>>19877516Does that make us the Laughing God?
Man, all I was trying to do was make a point that "power armor" doesn't have to be some bulky form concealing bullshit, especially with the tech level we seem to be dealing with.
>Majority Vote: Be the Daedalus. You are now the demi-god like AI whose main server is housed in stationary orbit above Harper's Reach. >>19877789Also, we might want to downplay the problem at first. Tell the girls the problem is limited to a small force, and not as huge as it is. That might cause them to panic and/or not join.
>>19877789We could just throw together an AR program and let them use whatever they feel comfortable with until we actually decide on the suits.Have them get used to fighting with enhanced speed / strength and flight that we agreed should be standard
You realize that despite all of the apparent panic that's been going on, you still haven't actually double checked the authorizations on the original message that's been sent. Not that there was much of a chance of it being false, having been sent through a bandwidth system that can only be uploaded through by two separate infomorphs simultaneously authorizing its use. But you will admit that you know a few of your fellow 'coworkers' who would find this whole thing to be a lovely prank. You scan in the 2^10 bit authorization key.Nope. Fuck. It's not a prank.Deciding that you might want to get a better handle on all the irons that are in the fire, you put a few yous into a handful of probes, and lauch them towards the outer system. You then turn your gaze upon the young one's, who are but now waking up, to see how they are progressing along the trials the whiny you has set them upon.>Wat do?

>>19877912>This advisor or "familiar" will also be tasked with emergency shutdown of the equipment if it is deemed necessary. That makes me think of something:Authorization/Upgrade system for raising morale. You choose to enact emergency protocol 14968. As all data is suggesting that orbit is no longer a viable solution to housing your main servers, the nanomachinery within your satellite begins to recongfigure both sealant protocols, pressure protocols, and maintenance protocols. The solar array that has long since provided you with all the power you needed to be functional is rearranged and reconfigured into a ten meter railgun, the newly madified main structure settled at its far end. Some of your more arcane pieces of equipment come on line for the first time in quite a while, bending your relative geometry in such a way that your server housing is perfectly aero and aqua dynamic. Because fuck that Von Neumann noise, you're going out to sea. Preferably, the deepest trench available for settlement, not that there is all that much going on below the water. What little traffic there is cleared out of the way, a little red timer begins counting down.At Zero, you are launched. At time plus one, you have broken atmosphere. At time plus 2, you have touched down on the ocean, hardly making a splash. At time plus three, you strike the bottom of the trench, and a tendril of nanites crawls through the rock until it strikes enough heat to power you geothermally. Now that you are resettled, you send out some orders to you femtotech facilities to begin producing scaled down weapons, armor, and tech to be used by your candidates.>Wat Do?>Roll 1d20+10 if you wish to script up weak AI 'Muses' for the girls. >Also, what is the name of this trench?

>Trench Name: No Consensus at time of typing>Lulziest of first three: Marinara Trench. The Marinara Trench will likely serve as your new home for the duration of the conflict. You aren't quite able to appreciate the name like the biologicals do, given that you've never actually eaten before, but the ability for a simple typo to become a matter of cultural pride is one of humanities little oddities that you've come to appreciate. Since you're taking up residency only six clicks above the arcology, you might well find yourself rooting for the Marinara Meatballs this Nulgy Ball season. Maybe. But there are more important things right now. Like your arcologies' distinct lake of NBC/n defenses, which you set to discrete mode until the threat becomes more apparent. Or like the distinct possibility of ECM warfare interfering between you and your candidates when the conflict comes into full swing. Perhaps a more creative solution to the communications problem is in order.Like throwing a few fresh made infomorphs into some custom arvisors for them to be using when in combat.>Highest of first three: 26Fortunately, the three of them come out sane, and mostly in line with what the present you would do in an emergency situation. Which is a good thing - you don't know how many times it took your programmer to make a sane iteration of you, and quite frankly you don't want to know. True AI infomorphs have this unfortunate tendency to like to go rampant, take things too literally, and all and all not be fit for transhume society. You're glad you're not one of -those-.
