The year is 2025.
Your name is Dave, and oh god oh god oh god.
Oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god.
Amy's twitching uncontrollably, gurgling, blood leaking from her ears.
---

"Calm down, Dave." Jun says, holding Amy down. "This is normal *and* necessary. Even the IDW implantees have to go through this. She'll be fine."
Dani bit her lip.
"She should wake up in a few minutes." Jun added, in a calming tone.
>>
freak out time.
"BUT BLOOD AND TWITCHING AND GURGLING, GAH!!!"
>>
"Anymore cool upgrades for me yet? Heard anything to do with Quantum Computers?"
>>
>>20034804
Heh. Yes.
>>
>>20034782
You couldn't have WARNED me?
>>
>>20034782
Jun, I'm the only one who is supposed to leave brain bits. If she isn't okay after this I am going to be rather cross with you Jun.
>>
"B-but blood and twitching and gurgling-"
"Dave, calm down." Jun said, plugging a few cables into Amy's back. "She will be fine." she said.
"Jun, I'm the only one who is supposed to leave brain bits." You say. "If she isn't okay after this, I am going to be rather cross with you, Jun."
She twisted a few knobs on the terminal connected to Amy's back, and Amy's back arched, and she moaned.
"This is just calibration." Jun said. "I did the same process with you, and KI did the same process with every IDW agent they have. She'll be fine, and the small bits of damage this is doing will not be permenant. Trust me, Dave."
>>
>>20034849
That would be more reassuring if I actually needed my brain.
>>
>>20034849
Well I think I understand what it feels like to watch the person you love bleed from the ears. It's rather unpleasant.
>>
>>20034849
Well the twitching and gurgling make sense sort of, but why the blood?
>>
"That would be more reassuring if I actually needed my brain."
"It's not my fault you're a freak, Dave." Jun said. "Well, actually... it kind of is, but it was mostly whatever shattered your spine's fault."
She twisted a few more knobs, and Amy slowly calmed down, her twitching slowing to a stop.
"The twitching and gurgling makes sense... sort of, but why the blood?"
"Insertion isn't perfect." Jun said. "With Azure's help and all of the extensive scans of her nervous system, it was close, but not entirely perfecty."
She finished with the knobs, then flipped a switch. Amy was calm, perfectly so, eyes closed in slumber.
"She'll be unconscious for some time, and she will need assistance with walking about for awhile, but the calibration is done. Do you have any questions?"
>>
>>20034930
"What is that anyway a production Bullfrog? And is it as modular as mine?"
>>
>>20034930
What can her version do compared to ours?
>>
>>20034930
Well it really isn't your fault, you did the Bullfrog but that really doesn't explain half of the shit I did with it. I was a freak and the Bullfrog unlocked my full freak potential.

Why did she ask for this?
>>
"Will she be good to do other strenuous physical activities?"
>>
"What is that anyway? A production Bullfrog? And is it as modular as mine?"
"It's a mark two." Jun said. "Very similar in concept, but vastly different in design. It's much safer, but less customizable and modular as your prototype."
"What can it do compared to mine?"
"Well. . . It doesn't have the CPU, data storage, bullshit hacking, or any of those auxillary components." Jun said. "It's simply a gateway to digital systems, but only when plugged in. It can do wireless connections as well, and if she learns how, she can most likely use mechandrites or vehicles without direct analog control."
"Well, it really isn't your fault, you did the Bullfrog but that really doesn't explain half of the shit I did with it." You say, and sigh. "I was a freak and the Bullfrog unlocked my full freak potential. Why did she ask for this?"
". . You'll have to ask her." Jun said. "Amy and Azure came to me with the idea, and I checked it over."
>>
>>20035003
Fair enough, I suppose. Does she need to stay in the building until she wakes up, or can I take her back to Valhalla with me?

And damn, but that sounds morbid right now.
>>
>>20035003
So she doesn't get a coterie of AIs in her spine advising her on things? That's one of my favorite parts about this gig, all of them are so nice, helpful and useful.

How have you been doing lately anyway? Getting more control over the company? How's the kid doing? Should I drop in some time and say hi?
>>
"Fair enough, I suppose." You say. "Does she need to stay in the building until she wakes up, or can I take her back to Valhalla with me?"
"You probably can, but I'd prefer to be safe and not move her around. If the Mark 2 shifts before she heals up, she could end up paralyzed until I can move it back in position." Jun said.
"I see. How have you doing lately anyway? Getting more control over the company? How's the kid doing? Should I drop in some time and say hi?"
"James' actually in a private school, now, halfway across the country." Jun said. "He's having the time of his life there. Making friends, getting good grades. . I'm pleased I could do that for him. I actually have less control over the company than I used to, with the merger, but that's how I like things."
"Dr. Viridian," Dani asked, looking at the machine in the corner. "What's this?"
"That's the autodoc." Jun said. "I . . took some of the data from project immortal, with the deepscanner, and made it. It's how I've been patching people up after doing surgery."
>>
>>20035110
That is...impressive. Are you licensing these? Because right now our only options for healthcare on Sleipnir are Azure and Dani, and - no offense, Dani - neither of them have any formal training.
>>
>>20035110
Mind getting me the schematics for it? I would like to have one of those at Valhalla.

No nasty side effects or anything like that?
>>
>>20035110
"While we're here anyway, why don't you ask Jun about those implants you wanted?"
>>
>>20035110
"By the way, the nurse hat was a smashing success and has become a crew favourite on the Sleipnir."
>>
"That is... impressive. Mind getting me the schematics for it? I would like to have one of those at Valhalla."
"Certainly." Jun said, and went over to her terminal. "Just plug in and I'll throw the schematics over."
"Are there any nasty side effects or anything like that?"
"Well... it's relatively untested, and after patching someone up, it tends to leave white scars of extra tissue, but I don't think there's anything major wrong with it."
"Hey, Dani." You say, turning to her. "While we're here anyway, why don't you ask Jun about those implants you wanted?"
Dani shook her head. "I... don't want those anymore." She said.
"By the way, Jun, the nurse hat was a smashing success and has become a crew favorite on the Sleipnir."
"I knew it would be." Jun said, with a pleased grin.
>>
>>20035198
Sure thing Dani, if you ever want anything let me know.

So Jun, about how long should we let Amy rest before we get her back home?
>>
>>20035222
until she wakes up is basically what Jun already said. chillax bro we're at our old.."home" EE. We can go chill with Grayson or Abel something.
>>
"Sure thing, Dani, if you ever want anything, let me know."
"I will, bro."
"So Jun, about how long should we let Amy rest before we get her back home?"
"Not long." Jun said. "She could wake up any moment."

Amy opened an eye.
"I've been awake since you three started talking about the autodoc." She said, looking around.
"How are you feeling?" Jun asked.
"Well, there's constant clicking and popping in my head, and everything I see is white noise." Amy said.
"Right, sorry." Jun said, and flicked another switch on her terminal. "That better?"
"Yeah, a lot." Amy said.
>>
>>20035198
Plug in, if we haven't already.
>>
>>20035276
"Hey, when I had clicking pops and white noise you took a lot longer to fix it!"
>>
>>20035276
Amy, I love you. You could have let me know, you know exactly how scary it is to see brain matter dribble out of the ears of your loved ones.
>>
rolled 15 = 15

>>20035276
Loudly exclaim "AMY!" and immediately bullshit interface hack her bullfrog and chat there.
>>
>>20035307
Let's hold off on that for a minute. Give her a chance to get used to it before we start fucking with it.
>>
>>20035307
How 'bout no.
>>
>>20035276
Give her a hug. Seriously. One of those never-gonna-let-go hugs.
"You absolutely terrified me, Amy."
"At least you're benefitting from my misfortune. She had to fix my static by trial and error."
>>
"Hey, when I had clicking pops and white noise you took a lot longer to fix it!"
"That's because I didn't know how, and you were badly injured, and the UI on my terminal was a lot worse." Jun said.

"Amy, I love you." You say. "You could have let me know; you know exactly how scary it is to see brain matter dribble out of the ears of your loved ones."
"Exactly." She said. "You didn't. And. . I thought you'd try to stop me."
You hug her tightly, all of your 'drites weaving around her.
"You absolutely terrified me, Amy." You say. "At least you're benefitting from my misfortune. She had to fix my static by trial and error."
Feebly, she wove her arms around your back.
"I love you too, Dave." She said.
"Get a room, you two." Dani said, with a grin.
>>
>>20035390
"We have one, it's on the south pole."
>>
>>20035390
"Well maybe we will"
Try and interface Bullfrogs. It'll make everything better.
>>
>>20035390
Well, Dani's family and Jun's probably godparent material as well... so let's get them in on the hug. No good having tentacles and not putting them to use.
>>
>>20035390
We have a room. It's back at Valhalla.
>>
>>20035390
Never, everyone is getting hugs.

Jun, have you met my new little sister Dani yet?
>>
Your drites weave out, and snatch ahold of Dani and Jun, pulling them close.
"Group hug!" You cry. "Jun, have you met my new little sister, Dani, yet?"
"Grayson explained a little." Jun said. "By some . . alium technology, he said, she looks exactly like Allison Templar."
"But I'm not her." Dani said, futiley struggling against the 'drites. "I'm Dani Davidson instead. I'm likely to get offended if someone mistakes me for. . that *girl*."
"I see." Jun said. "Then I'll make sure not to mistake you for her." Jun said.
"And we do have a room." Amy said. "Dave, gimme one of your cables."
After handing it to her, she plugged it into the small port in the back of her neck- much smaller than your full-spine bullfrog, hers just jutted out of the back of her neck.

Her eyes rolled into the back of her head, and you felt something. . Something almost exactly like an AI, with small tinges of chaos in the back of its mind. Almost like white noise.
<Hey, Dave, can you hear me?> Amy asked.
>>
>>20035519
<yup. Your eyes rolled into the back of your head though. It takes practice to use these things correctly. I bet I can help though>
>>
>>20035519
I can hear you my dear Amy.

Now what do you think we can do in here with everyone else out there none the wiser?

Give her a mental/digital hug and kiss.
>>
>>20035519
<I can! This is awesome!

I wonder what kind of crazy sex we can have like this?>
>>
>>20035519
<Yep. You "taste" funny.>
>>
>>20035555
Even more *pleasant combinations*. I am *successful* the most.
>>
<I can!> You claim, and the white noise feels abnormally pleased with itself. <Now, what do you think we can do in here with everyone else out there none the wiser?>
You give her a mental hug and kiss.
"Mmmm." She says aloud, her eyes still closed.
"Uh. . .Dave, what are you doing to her?" Dani asked, taking a step away. "You're not. . "
<"No, he's not."> Amy said, opening her eyes. You hear the voice twice- once from her mouth, and once from her mind. It's quite strange. <"It is pretty strange, Dave.">
>>
>>20035635
"Well it takes some practice, but eventually <we can have sex all day without anyone realizing it> you'll get used to it."
>>
>>20035635
Amy, how much of my thought process am I broadcasting?

Dani, I was just giving her a kiss, nothing naughty, yet. But know this, from now on we could be doing anything, anything at all in our heads.
>>
>>20035663
This.
>>
"Amy, how much of my thought process am I broadcasting?" You ask.
"Everything." She says. "You're doing this whole. . .internal narration thing. What you say is a lot easier for me to hear, though."

"Well, it takes some practice, but eventually," You stop speaking aloud, <We can have sex all day without anyone realizing it,> "You'll get used to it." You say.
Amy goes red and starts grinning. "Yeah," She says. "I look forward to it."

". . I have a feeling that we're missing something." Jun says. Dani nods.
>>
>>20035723
Look really, really serious and nod once
"possibly."
>>
>>20035723
"Well of course you are, but there's no reason to worry about it."
>>
>>20035723
Nothing the two of you should be concerned about. Just some harmless fun.
>>
"Of course you are, but there's no reason to worry about it." You say. "Just some harmless fun."

"Yeah." Amy mumbled, opening her eyes again. "But this is. . really weird." She tugs the cable out of the back of her neck, and suddenly your sense of her mind vanishes. "It's. . a bit too much for me right now, Dave."

"Can you walk, Amy?" Jun asks.
" . . I think so." Amy says, wiggling her fingers. She slips on the prosthetic legs, and twists them on. "My new sockets are a bit sore, though."

She pulls herself to her feet, and wobbles a little bit, before taking ahold of you and using you to prop herself up.
"Yeah, I can do it." She says. "If I have someone to hang onto."
>>
>>20035854
"I'm good at being held onto."
>>
>>20035854
"That's okay. Even with the bullshit power of a Bullfrog, prosthetics still take practice to use right.
>>
>>20035865
This
>>
"I'm good at being held onto." You say. " And that's okay; Even with the bullshit power of a bullfrog, prosthetics still take practice to use right."
"I've had practice. With the legs, at least." Amy says. "But I'm still wobbly. My body doesn't move right."
"That'll be the insertion." Jun nods, "Your body has to adapt to something being strapped to your brain stem and spinal cord. Dave recovered eerily quickly."
"That's because Dave's nervous system is interconnected, and create feedback loops that simulate brain matter and he has exotic matter shoved into his spinal cord and I don't know how I know that." Dani says, trailing off into mumbles.

". . What?" Jun asks.
>>
>>20035957
"Who did what with the which now?"
>>
>>20035957
"Oh, well that's cool. Anything more you can tell me about it?"
>>
>>20035957
"Do you mean the teleporter? Because I'm fairly sure that has exotic matter in it."
>>
>>20035957
Just like Dani said my nervous system is extremely unusual, feedback loops and so on. I think the exotic matter is the alien artifact that allows me to teleport which I shoved in there before even knowing its non-terrestrial origins.
>>
>>20035957
Run that by me again, Dani? About the exotic matter shoved in my spinal cord?
>>
>>20035957
"I noticed my nervous system being all strange when I used the hat scanner on myself on a whim."
>>
>>20035957
"Seems like everybody is a genius around here these days. Guess I'll have to buy a whole lot of 'X for dummies' books to catch up.

Display a frowny face on our helmet's faceplate.
>>
>>20035957
Yeah, I looked at myself with the nurse hat and my nervous system was crazy.
And the exotic matter will be the teleporter but I don't think that has anything to do with my adaptation.
>>
"Run that by me again, Dani? About the exotic matter shoved in my spinal cord?"
"I. . I don't exactly know." She said, hiding her face from view.
"Do you mean the teleporter? Because that has exotic matter in it."
". . I don't know." She said again. "But I'm not talking about the bullfrog. Just. . little cords here and there, in your head and neck and ribs and everywhere."
She pressed her hands into her eyes. "I can see it clearly in my head, but I don't know from *where*. I. . smell it on you."
>>
>>20036061
"Okay, that's kinda weird. But that's okay."
>>
>>20036061
"hmm. Good thing we have a convenient medical scanner right there to look at it on.
>>
>>20036061
"Don't strain yourself, Dani. Just give it time. It will work out eventually."
>>
>>20036061
"That's awesome!"
>>
>>20036061
Well that ones new. Jun, how did you not notice this before or is this a recent development?

Don't worry too much about it Dani, don't strain yourself for my sake. It actually sounds pretty fucking awesome.
>>
She probably feels pretty freaked out right now. Positive reinforcement is needed.
>>
>>20036080
indeed
>>
>>20036061
"Don't worry about it, Dani."
>>
"Okay, that's kinda weird. But that's okay." You say. "Don't worry too much about it Dani, don't strain yourself for my sake."
"I don't know how I know this." She says, and shakes her head. "It's . . frazzling me. I feel like something messed with my head."
"Well, that one's new. Jun, did you notice this before, or is this a recent development?"
"Let me check you out with the scanner." Jun says. "But you'll need to climb out of that suit."
>>
Do so, and reassure Dani.
>>
>>20036145
DO NOT COMMENT on the irony of Dani's statement.

Then climb out of the suit. Knowledge is good.
>>
>>20036145
"Oh, this is fun."
Then have suit walk out from around us and stand in a corner.
>>
>>20036145
You know, sometimes I forget I'm even wearing powered armor. It's kind of become a second skin for me.

Climb out of the suit, give Dani and Amy a hug and then let Jun check us out.

While we're getting checked out we can have the suit give them hugs in our place.
>>
"You know, sometimes I even forget I'm wearing powered armor." You say, climbing out of it. "It's kind of become a second skin for me."
"Yeah, Lucca told me that you wore it constantly for that entire week in space." Dani says, obviously glad to change subjects. "She said you didn't even sleep."
Amy suddenly frowned. "I wonder... does this mean I won't have to sleep?" She asked.

You step onto the deepscanner, and Jun hits a few switches on it, as you make your suit hug Dani and Amy.

"I can't get any clear readings." Jun says. "Something inside your body is vibrating rapidly."

You stop urging your suit to move, and she scans you again.
"No, everything looks normal." Jun says, twisting the screen around so that everyone can see it. It's a map of your tangled, knotted, nervous system. "For you, anyway. No strange materials. It's all organic; or appears to be, anyway."
Dani struggles out from your suit's hug, and starts pointing. "Here." She said. "There's a long cable from here to here. And. . here to here. And here to here." She said. Quickly, Jun started marking down where she was pointing.
>>
>>20036265
If any of those places overlap where we got heavily augmented, then "Let's open this one up and take a look."
>>
>>20036265
"Well, if it doesn't show up on the scanner, then it sounds like it's being actively camouflaged...."
>>
>>20036265
Invisible wires!
And Amy, I think you'll still need to sleep for as long as you're using your brain.
>>
"I volunteer for exploratory biopsy if necessary."
>>
"Amy, I think you'll still need to sleep for as long as you're using your brain."
"Oh, okay. That makes sense." Amy says.

"Well, if it doesn't show up on the scanner, then it sounds like it's being actively camoflaged..." you say.
"Or it could be that my scanner can't discern between basic nerves and whatever this exotic material is." Jun says. "Or Dani could be wrong, or something completely different. The only way to really be sure would be to get a biopsy, but. . .that's not a very good idea, because I have no idea how it'll effect you."
>>
>>20036381
Hmm. Point. In that case, it should probably wait until I've let my brain finish rebuilding itself.
>>
>>20036381
"I could just open one right now. I have manual control of my body, and the mono-knives in my drites are more than enough."
>>
>>20036381
You can take a look if you want, I'm actually kinda curious. It's not like I feel any pain that I don't want to so you don't even have to put me under. Take a quick look in there, don't start removing anything but feel free to poke around a bit.
>>
"Hmm. . . Point." You say. "Perhaps later, when my brain has finished rebuilding itself."
"It's so strange to hear you say that so casually." Jun says.

Suddenly, the six small spheres in the bottom of Amy's cybernetic legs popped out. She grinned, looking abnormally pleased with herself, then rolled forward and backward a bit.
"Hooray!" She called. "I'm back!"
>>
>>20036494
You're back, you have your normal legs again.

Do you have to twitch the toes anymore or can you just think it?
>>
>>20036494
"Hooray!"
Have the suit throw its arms up in the air.
>>
>>20036561
Technically she always 'just thought it'. You don't unconsciously move.
>>
>>20036609
Well she specifically said that they were linked to her big toe nerves.
That's why when she got new organic legs she kept trying to get wheels and instead moved her toes.
>>
>>20036494
"You look entirely too pleased with yourself."
>>
"Hooray!" You cry, and make your suit raise it's arms in the air.
Amy grins, and rolls into you.
"Thank you for implanting me, Jun." Amy said.
"No problem." Jun said. "You did save my son from CD, remember."
"Do you have to twitch the toes anymore, or can you just think it?"
"I can just think it, now." She said. "That means my feet can have the best of both worlds- toes *and* rollers, *and* overchargers."
>>
>>20036672
"But do they have feeling?"
>>
>>20036672
And the things we can do with those toes and connecting the bullfrogs together. Slaanesh would be proud of us. Now let's get home, I think after a day like today we all deserve a lot of ice cream.

If we don't have ice cream at Valhalla make sure to pick a few pints up before we leave NFC.
>>
>>20036691
We need to know, for science reasons
>>
>>20036699
make sure to pick a few barrels up before we leave NFC.
>FTFY
>>
>>20036672
Before we leave...Amy, what would you think about a wireless link? So that we don't need a cable to talk on Implant Radio?
>>
>>20036734
Second.
>>
>>20036734
third.
>>
"Do they have feeling?" You ask. "I need to know. For SCIENCE reasons."
"In the ankles, yeah." She said. "For balance, but that's it. I need to take the skin from those prosthetics Mark gave me, for full sensation. Speaking of which, the whole organic limb thing didn't work out. Too much work for too little gain."

<Dave,> Azure calls from over Daedalus' two satellites. <The teleportation evac machine is done. Shall I send it?>
>750 nano-meta used.

<Hmm . . . > You think. <One second. Let's buy some ice cream first.>
<... I'll wait, then.> Azure said.

You, Dani, Amy, and the power suit all step outside, as you go down to the little store.
"Hey, Amy. What would you think about a wireless link? So that we don't need a cable to talk on Implant Radio?"
". . Well, you're kind of . . really imposing on 'implant radio'." Amy said. "Like. . large and booming, in a way. I can set the 'volume' down, though, so yeah."

The four of you step into the little corner store, buy two smartphone headsets, and a large mass of ice cream.
Amy was already taking apart the headsets as you walk back to EE.
"What's it like?" Dani asked.
"Well. . ." Amy said, "It's kind of strange. Like your head's been cooped up in a cage for the longest time, and then suddenly it gets free, and you can reach outward."
She finally gets the headset apart, and slips parts of it into the back of her neck. Suddenly, a piercing, piercing noise rings through your head.
<Sorry, sorry!> Amy said, as your minds connect once more. You notice that you can't sense the strange emotions in the back of her head unless you try. <How's. . How's this?>
>>
>>20036865
<Good.>

"To me, it's kinda like hearing one of the AI, only there's this static-y white noise full of emotion just behind her."
>>
>>20036865
"Remind me to change the ringtone to Codec."
>>
>>20036865
It's lovely. Say hi to Amy everyone, try not to all talk at once.
>>
>>20036865
I wonder, does this mean neither of us can lie to the other? Since, the other is able to read the liar's emotions in a literal sense.
>>
>>20036865
<It's good. With the gain turned down it's similar to talking to Azure.>

"All right, ladies! Last chance to take care of business before we leave the city. And that reminds me, I need to order more Nano-Meta from Van Co when we get back to Valhalla."
>>
<It's lovely.> You say. <With the gain turned down, it's similar to talking to Azure.>
Amy suddenly stopped rolling altogether. She started staring at the ground, biting her lip in focus.

You suddenly feel something tickling at your ribs, and she grins.
"Just. . experimenting." She says.
"I wonder. Does this mean that neither of us can lie to the other?"
"Probably." She said. "But I'm trying not to read to deeply into your mind. It feels like a violation of your privacy."

Dani just followed you two, already opening one of the icecream containers and scooping it out with her finger.
"Alright, ladies. Last chance to take care of business before we leave the city." You say.
"Well..." Dani shrugs. "I do have somewhere to go. You two don't mind, do you? I'll be right back, and I promise I won't kill anyone this time."

"Go ahead, Dani. Stay in contact, and if you need me, just call."
"I will." She said.
"Where are you going, if you don't mind me asking?"
" . . The graveyard." She said, hesitantly, and then walked away.

Amy met your eyes. <Did something happen earlier, when I was under the knife? Dani's acting oddly, and I'm picking up a bit of it from you.>
>>
>>20037135
"Yeah. Oh! I know, let's see if I can give you the memory directly!"

<. . I feel bad for her.> Amy said. <Where do you think she's going?>
<At the moment, I get the feeling she's going to visit either Alli's or Garrett's grave.>
<Hopefully that helps.> Amy asks. <Wait, Alli got a grave?>
You suddenly remember the moment that you and Grayson buried the flowers, while Grayson was incredibly drunk, ranting about Garrett and Alli.
<. . Oh.> Amy said. <. . .I saw that.>
>>
>>20037291
"Oh! Oh wow, that's awesome!"
>>
>>20037291
I'm not surprised. Should we practice sending images back and forth.

Start thinking about her and Lucca kissing, see how much we can make Amy blush.
>>

This.
>>
>>20037291
Neat. Let's try to send her our memory of the time we first saw her.
>>
>>20037311
Oh, my.

See if Amy can bullshit hack through us, with one of the gun drones, or something.
>>
"Oh! Oh wow, that's awesome! Should we practice sending images back and forth?"
"Okay." Amy said.
You quickly pull up the bullfrog's memory banks, and pull out the video of her and Lucca kissing.
Amy frowns, and goes bright red.
"You *do* have it in three different angles!" She called. "I thought you were joking!"
From her, you sense embarrassment, indignation. . and a strange, peculiar itch.
"No, stop that." Amy said, and she breaks the connection, fuming.

". . How about this?" You ask, and reluctantly, she turns the connection back on. You bring up the memory of lying in the hotel room, with Verne and Amy standing up above you- when you'd first met them, after being kidnapped.
"I remember that." Amy said. "I called me and Verne vigilantes at the time, because that's what he always told me to say. Always vigilantes, never mercenaries."
She shrugged.
"You ended up executing our target that time, with the van."
>>
>>20037403
Well thanks for saving me, I'm really happy to have met you.

So how about that moment you said you started to like me, when I grabbed Alli with a drite and bashed her into the concrete.

Cycle through a few choice memories, our first kiss, unleashing Luin on Kell, stealing the piano.

>>
>>20037403
Well thanks to you, I was alive to do so. Hey, see if you can control my drites through this thing.
>>
"Well... Thanks for saving me." You say. "I'm really happy to have met you."
"You too, Dave Davis Davidson." She said, kissing you. "I'm happy to have met you, too."

<So, how about the moment you started to like me?> You ask, and bring forth that red haze, that ball of anger you felt as you smashed your then-only drite into Alli Templar, tearing her out of the window.
<That was different.> Amy said. <That's when I started to crush on you. Perfection of form, how suave you were, and how you did exactly what you wanted without deliberation. Something about the way you moved.>
She closed her own eyes, and you got a foggy image- a memory, this one stored by a fuzzy organic mind instead of the bullfrog.
"I will have all of it and then I will have *all* the best toys." Your own voice says, clenching your fist at Oleg's shop.
<This was when I really started to fall for you.> She said. <It's.. hard to explain, really. Just the way you act so over the top, but completely serious about it. There was also that whole time while we worked on Epona. .>

You cycle through a few other memories- your first kiss, unleashing Luin on Project Immortal, and stealing the piano from Amy's parents. .

<How do you remember this all so clearly?> Amy asked.
>>
>>20037603
"I've been storing most of it on the bullfrog."
>>
>>20037603
"It's pretty much recorded footage.""
>>
>>20037603
Well, I'd like to say that I just remember anything involving you in perfectly due to love, but the honest answer is bullfrog magic. If I start going through memories before I got the Bullfrog it might be fuzzier.

Try showing her our first time painting a 40k figure.

< . . . I'm not sure how to respond to that.> She said. <I'd *like* to be angry, but. . >
She shook her head. <I'll want to see those later tonight.> She said. <Do you have any memories from before you got the bullfrog?>
You quickly conjure up one of your oldest memories- as you were painting your first techpriest with a red that was too light, and it splotched badly, before Bowser started barking and you had to go take him outside.
<Wow. that's really blurry.> She said.

I know, it was a bad paint job, I should have thinned my paints. In all seriousness though it's old.

I think almost anything pre-Bullfrog is going to be fuzzy. Let me try meeting Ishelda for the first time.

Don't worry about your own memories being blurry, we'll make more and more of them.

<Yeah, I know. It was a terrible paintjob. I've since gotten better." You say. "Are your childhood memories any clearer?>

"Not most of them, but I know of a few you might like. . " She says aloud, closing her eyes.

You get a blurry image of a very, very large penguin, and the sensation of hugging it tightly, ignoring the cold. You hear exuberant, childish giggling. <I think I was six or seven around here.> She says. The penguin suddenly bats your perspective away, and you fall away from the blurred penguin. <And he really didn't like me.> She says, grinning.
"I have one more, but that's not as fun of a memory." She says, her grin suddenly turning into a frown.

"What is this one about?" You ask.

"You." She said. She stared into your eyes, and for once, didn't close them.

Coming from the connection is a memory. Blurry, but. . not very. Something recent, you can tell.

Your name is Amy, and you're rolling about in Valhalla, while the science team works on that strange wormhole generator Dave had acquired from the Mars mission.

You go in the room to check up on how they're doing, when you hear a scream.
Dave's in there, on his knees, screaming at the top of his lungs. In pain, in agony. Your blood goes cold, and you accelerate toward him, taking his shoulder. He starts trembling, blood dripping from every part of his face. . And then his head swells, and you hear a savage crack, and blood starts leaking from his forehead, as he's roaring words in some strange tongue, twitching and spasming.

As soon as it started, it stopped.
"That's when I decided to get a Bullfrog, Dave." She said. "So I can be here for you."
>>
>>20037914

Speaking of hacking tech, we know there's another alium teleporter out there. We know how that shit works, now. Can we do something to detect when someone teleports, perhaps specifically when using the alium artifacts taht were stolen from Van Co?
>>
>>20038136
I hope not, or people can track us as we do silly things.
>>
>>20038136
pretty sure Onyx mentioned that teleporting was undetectable, not entirely sure though.

yes, but i'd rather it was completely undetectable.

He said that it couldn't be tracked the way we did wormholes, and that as far as he knew, it couldn't be tracked at all.
>>
>>20038163
>Onyx said that teleporting hardly ever effects the fabric of space-time, unlike wormholes, so it's impossible to detect unless you're right next to it.

". . Do you want some tentacles of your own?" You ask, and turn around to the power suit who's been following you the entire time. You disconnect one of the smaller drites from it, and hand it to Amy. She plugs it into her own neck, and immediately, the 'drite starts roiling around, wriggling through her hands. She starts giggling.
"How do you even control these, Dave?" She asked, as it coiled around her arm.

"How soon do you think you can be this awesome now that you've got a bullfrog?" You ask, showing her a montage of all of your coolest moments... but for some reason, you don't have those strange, dragon episodes and dreams in your records. Eerie. .

"I was way awesomer than you until recently." Amy said. "Until. . around the CD mission, where we blew up their power core."

"Well. . .I have to admit, the Queen was pretty awesome." She said.

Kinda, maybe, not sure.

Look occasionally I've had dream things with giant beasts, enemies, me sitting into a chair and this signified me transferring my consciousness to the bullfrog. I think it's just a metaphor, the choice presented in a way that I could understand.

"Well. . "
She went red, and then opened her mouth to say something.

Then things happened very quickly.

Something slammed into the side of her head, and your connection with her was lost. She fell to the ground, eyes closed.
