hi Ben Kingsley
>>
THIS QUEST IS NEWBIE FRIENDLY

I write summaries specifically so you don't have to read the whole archive to participate. Also, yes, we're starting an hour late today. And I missed yesterday entirely because something came up and it required I be away from the computer to take care of it. Today I just lost track of time, though. Oops.

Anyways, you are Smith Sterling, the Iron Master! EdenTech has begun a project to artificially create super heroes, thus putting an end to the decades-long struggle between heroes and villains throughout the world, as well as nipping your plans for domination in the bud! Uniting with other supers to put a stop to it, you kidnapped the mayor to create a distraction, then had your sinister robotic kamikaze hacker pigeons infiltrate EdenTech. Though they successfully made it to the Swordsman Facility and have begun hacking the systems, they have also tripped an alarm. It's only a matter of time before the guards figure out how to break into their own lab even after you disabled the door's keypad while the lock was engaged, so you have your henchman Julio move forward with your villainous allies Mesmer and Daimyo Okata, along with two dozen of Okata's elite Samurai gangsters. You've shot up the lobby well and good and are now on your way up the staircase...

Warn the damio that the diversion has run its course. Use some pre arranged codeword so eden tech isn't aware of the reality.
>>
On the subject of summaries, I feel I should mention that Rica Rivera, one of your valued henchmen, was badly injured while fighting with the SWAT at the warehouse, and barely managed to escape with Dead Eye, another of your villainous allies. Villainous ally the fourth, Bouncer, was too stupid to pull back and ended up getting ganked by super hero Behemoth and the half-dozen or so remaining SWAT officers.
>>
>>20483857
Looks like the tower has another resedent. Could you go over the heroes and villians of the city again?
For villains I've got:
Deadeye, Us, Strike (thread one), Bouncer, Cat (thread one), Mesmer, Asreal, artificer (prison)
Heroes:
Amp, swordsman, bethmoth, Kestral (sort of), Asreal (its complicated)
That right?
>>
Okay, master list of all heroes in the city:

Amp, Kestrel, Behemoth, Tarot (crazy, does stuff at random and claims his cards talk to him), Kronos (basically retired), Swordsman, and Asrael (sort of).

And villains:

The IRON MASTER, the Cat, the Red Death, Dead Eye, Strike, Bouncer, Mesmer, Daimyo Okata, the Artificer, Whisper (sort of), Asrael (it is indeed complicated), and also we assume some kind of super is behind the Goblin Gang's recent insanity.

The mesmerized receptionist leads the group out of the stairwell at the main office level, but by the time they get there the area is already teeming with a response team comprised of a half-dozen sleek, Apple white robotic guards with assault rifles built into their hands.

Your pigeons are having a tough time cracking the database, meanwhile. Mostly this is because one of them chose the most inopportune moment conceivable to glitch up its hacking protocols. You've got that sorted out, but you've barely scratched the surface of EdenTech's cyber defenses and they've already brought up a squad of their iGuards, one of which is equipped with a blowtorch and has begun slowly cutting through the door. It'll be a while before it gets through, though. EdenTech made that door to be really hard to cut down.
>>
>>20484179
Take picture of guards w/ bots, send to apple legal division. Oh, and start shooting.
>>
The iRobots are not having a good day. They're barely able to even scratch the Ronin and Okata before being torn to pieces. After having your bots photograph some incriminating evidence for Apple's legal team, you press on. Unfortunately, the receptionist has been caught in the crossfire. Daimyo Okata is splitting his mean up into four groups of six (ish, he's lost a few so they aren't perfectly even anymore, but whatever) to try and find the lab entrance. Julio will be able to find it immediately if he can reach a part of this floor that's familiar to the pigeons, but since they came in through the vents and not the staircase the immediate surroundings are unfamiliar.

Do you want Julio to stick with one of the Ronin packs, take your three bots (mostly unscathed) and look on his own, or some other third thing?

>Wat do?
>>
>>20484429
Have him go with one of the teams, split the bots up to provide backup and eyes on all of the groups. Also will let them stay in constant contact with one another, Also quadrouples the chances of finding parts of the facility the pidgins have been through. Furthermore, the pigoins and bits shurly have gps. Oh, and continue hacking. we've got four T4 pidgions and one t4 IM w/ AI ( effective T5) there, we will breake through eventually

Your poor spelling aside, that seems a pretty good plan. Let's go with that.
>>
I read through the archives of this, and actually feel the need to point out that we never bought AI as a power... Steve was provisionary since he wasn't going to control groups. Is this still where our AI powers stand?
>>
You split your team up to cover the most ground. Unsurprisingly, the groups run into more resistance from bots along the way. The end result is mostly the same, with squads of Ronin fighting squads of bots, except that it's way easier to calculate individual battles.

Daimyo Okata's group runs into some serious difficulty with another squad of iRobots. Okata is able to cleave through the bots with little difficulty using his durant alloy katana, but his men are suffering from a lack of cover (cubicle walls do little to stop gunfire) and are dropping fast.

Julio's group fares better, completely ripping the iRobot squad to pieces with sustained assault rifle fire and then moving down the corridor into an area familiar to the pigeons. From here, Julio has a clear shot at the labs. If he goes alone, though, it might be just his squad against entrenched defenses.

Mesmer's group is doing about as well as Okata's. They've managed to down one bot out of the four facing them, but have taken a few casualties of their own, down to just three Ronin, your bot, and Mesmer. Mesmer isn't really equipped for this sort of gunplay, either.

Despite running into the heaviest resistance, the group without any named characters cuts straight through the squad of iRobots they're faced with. The bot in Julio's group is able to point them to the lab entrance, so those two groups can attack it together. Or they can go to reinforce Okata and/or Mesmer's struggling groups.

>Wat do?
>>
>>20485053

It was one of your starting powers, wasn't it? Maybe I screwed something up. Even if I did, oh, well, you've been benefiting from the AI power for at least seven or eight threads now.

The hacking is going much better now that you've got the pigeon's glitch sorted out. You've accessed some of the less secure bits of the database, which is mostly useless bookkeeping, but you've nearly opened up the juicy "how to build a super hero from scratch" parts of the supercomputer. Meanwhile, EdenTech isn't making much progress through that door of theirs. That'll teach them to protect their sensitive data with all the paranoia of a professional hacker and all the resources of a mega-corporation.
>>
>>20485157
We've got time it seems. Therefore redeploy the two free groups to link up with the two groups that are struggling. Once consolidated, they are to go to the location that atarts the pidgin route and punch through with everything they have. Meanwhile continue hacking.
>>
>>20485093
I'm thinking we go back to help the other teams, starting with Okays, then Mesmer if he's still alive. I'd like to have as much power as possible storming the lab, but I don't want to take risks and try to save the ailing groups at the same time....
>>
>>20485256
Curse you autocorrect. Okata's group, not okays...
>>
>>20485157
I'd say send one team to each of the struggling ones. Two to one and then moving on is also good.

>>20483825
Instead of linking each thread individually, it's much easier to link to them all like this: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Super%20Villain%20Quest
>>
>>20485157
Nah, starting powers were terminator and ghost whisperer. Somebody asked if they could fluff a terminator with limited AI, hence Steve. But yeah, it'd be hard to change it now. Maybe we got it as a perk for taking over Catalina or something. ...... Or maybe I can just shut up. I'll do that.
>>
>>20485349

It's certainly easier. I think there's a certain charm to watching the list of archive links slowly grow, but we are getting close to the point where that's just not doable anymore. It used to be that listing all the threads individually served to make the quest seem small and reading the archives doable, but we have kind of passed that point. I'll have to switch to single-link soon. Oh, well.
>>
Your two groups converge on Okata's location and, more than tripling his forces, soon tear up the now dramatically outnumbered iRobots. The combined group begins moving towards Mesmer, but the tattered remains of his group get a lucky windfall, a pair of headshots taking out two iRobots almost simultaneously, which allows them to turn the tide and win on their own (albeit at great cost, with just one Ronin, your bot, and Mesmer left in the group).

You've punctured almost all of the defenses, and have all kinds of information about the parts, materials, and tools used to create the Swordsman suit, but only vague details about how it's put together. Those details are locked inside what is possibly one of the most secure servers in the world, but with you and all your pigeons cracking it, it's just a matter of time.

Unfortunately, time is running out, as the door is about halfway cut-through by now. With enough luck you can crack the database before they get through, but the safer plan would be to find some way to distract the iRobots cutting through the door. Like by shooting them.

You've yet to lose a single bot (they have heavier armor and more health than the Ronin), but half the Ronin are gone and just about everyone's taking some hits. Everyone but Mesmer, who's doing so little damage that the iRobots didn't really even bother shooting at him...And to make matters worse, the local news (which is, of course, reporting on the break-in, as well as the car chase as Dead Eye and Rica flee the police) shows that a SWAT team has arrived in the lobby. It won't be long before they arrive on the office level.
>>
>>20485812
Mesmer and some of the Ronin and 1 bot form a blocking force to slow/stop the swat team. He is clearly useless against bots but might be able to mindscrew the swat teams. Everyone else to the server! Also, have the damio arrange for some of his gang members not in the building to provide cover when we exit the building
>>
>>20485812
Team moves in and engages I-robots. Continue hacking.
>>
>>20485812
I'm torn between strategic retreat and letting the pigeons keep trying to hack, and if they get through the door, self destruct to destroy the databases. They ARE transmitting any data they've recovered to our secure database, right? It would either be rely on the pigeons or push forward with the other group, probably setting them up for a no retreat scenario. It doesn't sound like mesmer could help us much with a whole swat team...

When we were doing out surveillance, we identified emergency exits (from the exterior), and planned exit routes from all of them, I assume, and building codes would require a dangerous environment like a laboratory to have a lot of these. So I'm thinking we head for an emergency exit and try to make out getaway.
>>
>>20486155
We have two supers, 4 kill bots and a dozen elite gangsters, a single swat team is not much of a problem.
>>
>>20485812
Pigeons are shit at combat, keep them hacking. Human-sized guys beat feet to the server, and engage the iGuards. Mesmer can to his mind-stuff on the way out, with cover from combat dudes.
>>
>>20486227
They took out our other super squad with relative ease. But I am okay with pressing forward and leaving a defense team between the swat group and our exit. So long as we don't become cornered in a lab that may or may not have its own exit, where our only hope for escape is to plow through a swat team and possibly more, by the time we're done. So yeah, set up the defense line and push forward.
>>
>>20486406
With 3 squads of swat teams and a super.
>>
>>20486468
Which could be brought in while the first swat team has us cornered in a lab. And don't forget that only one super was at our diversion. I expect Swordsman to show up if we linger here too long, so I would rather not give them the time to call him in. So long as we keep one escape route clear, though, I don't mind pushing forward.
>>
The lab entrance is heavily defended, and Okata, Julio, your bots and the Ronin set about attacking the squad of seven iRobots waiting there. Unfortunately, Okata's already injured Ronin drop quickly, while the more heavily armored iRobots are slow to fall. Making matters worse is a pair of turrets on the ceiling. Though lightly armored, they fire powerful sustained laser blasts that carve straight through almost anything they come into contact with. Focusing fire on the turrets first, the Ronin are able to disable them quickly, but the damage is done. A lucky shot from an enemy iRobot badly injures Julio, who staggers away from the fight, Okata and his few remaining Ronin retreating close behind him. Your bots cover the retreat and, naturally, are torn to pieces, but you leave only two iRobots standing. They decide not to pursue.

At the SWAT battle, Mesmer is able to seize control of two SWAT officers and turn them against their allies. In the chaos, the entire SWAT team is eliminated with minimal casualties by the time Julio, Okata, and the tattered remains of their Ronin show up. In further good fortune, your pigeons finally crack open the database, a flood of information on the Swordsman Project streaming to your own supercomputer. The EdenTech security forces have nearly finished cutting through the door, but you got the data you were looking for, at least. The Swordsman Facility itself remains untouched, but if your pigeons can get there (it's right next door), they might have enough explosives to destroy the whole thing, especially since you've got the data to put them exactly where they need to be.
>>
>>20486624
Regroup for the final push. Get to the production center and blow everything sky high. Can the pidgons sneak out of the lab with their stealth skills? Or erase the data we just stole?
>>
>>20486624
I'd prefer to have some more forces down there to make sure, but unless we've got more support nearby, it looks like the pigeons will have to suffice.
>>
>>20486624
Once the data is deleted, send the pigeons to try to destroy the rest of the lab. Worst come to worst, we detonate them early now and build roach bots next week to finish the job.

Everybody else needs to retreat through an emergency exit, and head to a safe point.
>>
>>20486734

The pigeons can definitely wipe the data. You've already brought the defenses down so now it's just a matter of CTRL+A and drag it to the recycle bin. Sneaking out unnoticed by the guards who are staring right at the door they'll be sneaking through is going to be trickier, but with their Stealth score it's possible.
>>
>>20486624
Have the pidgeons repeatedly overwrite the data to irretrievably erase it if they haven't already. Once done, go have them blow the place up.

If the Daimyo (or Mesmer, for that matter) has any more forces nearby, now would be the time to send them in if he wants some extra security. You think the pigeons will be enough, but in this case it's probably better to go for overkill.
>>
>>20486814
Delete data. Replace with kitten videos. Then have our remaining kill bot (the one we left with mesmer) distract the guards while the pidgons sneak out and trash the manufacturing facility
>>
>>20486814
That actually doesn't erase data, it's recoverable. For that matter, data generally has the bulk of its bits remain the same when the file is actually erased, you have to overwrite each bit. Even after that, you can get data back by measuring slight differences in the charge to deduce what they used to contain. You have to repeatedly overwrite it to be sure of it not being retrieved.
>>
Your pigeons have discovered a vast array of interesting projects EdenTech is currently working on.

>Project Swordsman you're already familiar with, but apparently there is some kind of super serum that's been added to the project in addition to the suit. Once you analyze this, you'll be able to purchase powers from the Super Human Abilities set without actually unlocking the set. Further, any Super Human Ability power you've unlocked can be granted to a henchman by paying resources equal to its initial XP cost.

>Project Strider is behind those bots you saw earlier. It might provide some insight into building a better bot, raising the cap on terminator abilities to 5.

>Project Beachhead is currently still in the design stage, and is apparently something to do with quadrupedal walker-tanks. Stealing the data on this will halve the XP cost of unlocking Mechs and Mobile Dolls. If you've already unlocked them when you steal the data, it'll just give you XP equal to what you would've saved instead.
>>
>Project Photon is behind the laser turrets. Stealing the data on this will give you access to weapons more powerful than anything else in the city.

>Project Aegis is an outgrowth of Project Swordsman and includes some next-gen armor, more effective than anything else in the city and cheap enough that you can produce it en masse.

>Project Bonfire is the chemical weapons division. Chemical weapons are AoE, DoT, and armor-ignoring, so that's helpful. Plus, they're a great thing to threaten the city with if you can get away with it.

Of course, you don't have a whole lot of time for snooping about right now, but there's some definite food-for-thought here for future visits.
>>
>>20486977

That was a joke. EdenTech's supercomputer doesn't even run on Windows.

>>20486918

Getting your remaining killbot through to the labs would require punching through the defenses on the lab entrance. They're weakened, sure, but not so much that you can get through with one bot.

You do, however, have a shiny new pair of SWAT officers on your side.
>>
>>20486997
Steal swordsman (As the power gifting ability, Godly) and Strider

Level every other bit of data available from other projects into useless trash or irredeemable quality, especially Aegis
>>
If Mesmer & co can get out of there without problems then send the bot up to distract the ibots. Alternatively, could we blow a pigeon and take the ibots out that way, then send our termie with the pigeons to wreck the lab?

Also very happy about how the pigeons turned out.
>>
>>20487014
We could send one out to call in an All Clear through the police Radios (Or more backup if we want more danger/mind slaves), and another to go in to try and get the IGuards to come out (to an ambush spot)
>>
>>20487070
I thought we could take all the data and erase everything afterwards. Or am i mistaken? How many can we take?
>>
>>20487014
Are the bots that are cutting down the door the same squad that had two left and didn't pursue? If so, send a termie down, blow up a pigeon to take out the guards, and go smash/blow up the facility.

If not, delete the data and have the pigeons blow up the facility.
>>
>>20487070
>>20487109
We can't take any, I think. They're on separate servers or something and we don't have the time to hack in.
>>
>>20487214

This is correct. You're aware of the projects, but they're kept on separate networks not accessible by the Swordsman supercomputer. Some of the executive documents in the Swordsman database references other projects, what they do, and also boring details about funding for them as opposed to Swordsman, but not anything about how they actually work. You'd have to break into each supercomputer separately to steal the data.
>>
>>20487183

No. The squad that you beat up was guarding the entrance to the labs in general. The squad at the door is breaking into the Swordsman lab specifically. It's also a lot smaller (three iRobots instead of seven). Sorry if that was confusing.

>>20487094

The iRobots have proven incredibly resilient during your attack on the facility. It's quite possible that blowing up a single pigeon won't be enough to destroy them.
>>
>>20487354
In that case, erase the data and blow up the facility with the pigeons.
>>
>>20487354
I see. We can probably assume there's a bunch more iGuards in the labs proper, right?

If it's just the two an then the three, we might be able to reach the Swordsman facility with our forces. If not, no way.

I'm going with erasing and demolition with pigeons for now.
>>
>>20487354
Could the pigeons themselves get there or would we have to distract the robots. If we must, sacrifice one of our bots. With the cost of this operation i dont think one more robot will make the difference, better safe than sorry.
>>
>>20487437
Man, I know it sounds tempting, but I'm not sure you understand the current situation. We still need to blow up the Swordsman lab, and we'll be luck if four C4 charges is enough. What's more, we don't have the codes for any other doors, which means we'll have to blow our way in by wasting another pigeon and the hack the crazy defenses all over again.
>>
>>20487430

Hard to say about the iRobots. It's possible that EdenTech is just about out, and is concentrating the ones they have left at the areas where they know there's danger: The entrance to the labs and the specific lab that's being hacked. It's also possible that they've got another two dozen waiting in the labs to shoot you up in the corridors.

Either way, though, it's pretty safe to say there's more of those turrets inside. The iRobots might have come pouring out of the labs to confront you in the offices, but the turrets are stationary and there's no particular reason they would have built only two of them.

Your data is secure, so it looks like it's all or nothing with the pigeons. You send one pigeon out through the small hole it came in through and it detonates. The bots are thrown to the ground, but not destroyed, so your remaining pigeons bolt for the entrance to the Swordsman production facility, just down the hall. One of the pigeons is gunned down by a bot on the way in, and another must also sacrifice itself to blow the door open wide enough for the last two to get through. You don't have near enough firepower left to destroy the whole facility, so you have your pigeons each land on one of the two arms used to assemble the suit, then detonate. The arms are ruined, which should stall the production significantly, at least.

There's plenty of police waiting at the base of the EdenTech tower. Okata contacts his allies and begins arranging to make a diversionary attack on them so that he, Mesmer, and Julio can get out.

And that's when you get a call from Chimera.
>>
>>20487514
That's what i mean. We have come this far and we are going to see the plan through. If we have to blow up all our bots to do so then fine. We can rebuild them later. The main thing is we prevent Swordsman.
>>
Bugger, forgot one of the projects.

>Project Connor is a genetic enhancement program intended to provide a cure for essentially any disease or disability conceivable just by making people's health so bitchin' that diseases take one look at their immune systems and just give up. This one hasn't advanced far enough to be usable and has apparently run into some significant difficulties not elaborated upon in high-level reports, but apparently there's some serious legal issues involved should word on the details of the project get out. You gain 3 XP for successfully stealing the data on this project, because you can always learn something from unethical science.
>>
>>20487585
Arms
Not fuel storage for cutting devices, or the hard to replace computer systems.
But arms.

We know enough about making engineering to hit the more time consuming and labor intensive parts to hit!
>>
if we wanna raid this facility again in the future we gonna need to aim for jacking ALL of the data at once considering the massive defense overhaul this is gonna cause.
>>
>>20487652

>>
"I'm a bit preoccupied at the moment," you say as you answer the phone.

"I can tell," the man at the other end of the line says. "We were all worried you'd end up in the labs where we can't see you, but you've done us a favor and spent your forces in the offices."

"You called for a reason, spit it out," you say, switching back and forth between news feeds and your bot-cam.

"Swordsman is waiting for your friends on the first floor. After he apprehends them, he'll merge up with the car chase, which he has instructed the police not to bring to an end for fear that Dead Eye and Rica will escape on foot. Once he catches up to them, he will capture them both, at which point the police will look into Rica's background and discover she is not a citizen of the United States, at which point they will use all means available to them to persuade her to give up your location. The mayor will use this incident as an excuse to fire and replace Commissioner Slemp with someone more competent and begin cleaning up what's left of the Goblins, Family, and Nine Rollers. In one night Swordsman and the police will break the back of Team Red, arresting and imprisoning over half of the city's super villains and leaving nearly half of its gangs leaderless or crippled."

>Response?
>>
>>20487643

Arms was chosen at random, because the system isn't nearly detailed enough to actually care what parts of the system you blow up (believe it or not, when planning the quest "which parts of the Swordsman Facility would be most vital" was not high on my list of things to look up). If you want to retcon it as being something else, it doesn't matter to me.
>>
>>20487792
Could we hack a satellight and drop it on Edentech's building?
>>
>>20487585
So we haven't won yet. They're obviously going to beef up security, too. We should find out how they're gonna do that, as well as who's gonna do the installation, or where they'll be getting the materials if they're doing it in-house. We'll need to get in again, posing as some art of the building process might be a good way to do it.
>>
>>20487877
Im asking because I played C&C again. Fucking love dropping satellites on the russians.
>>
>>20487877

I don't really see why a satellite would be equipped with thrusters. It doesn't seem like it would be of much use except to launch them at the Earth, which isn't really the intended purpose of any given satellite.
>>
>>20487992
The earth's atmosphere and general magnetism can slow a satellite down, so they occasionally use them to readjust their orbit
>>
>>20487877
I like the way you think.

"You are placing far too much trust into your little spandexman. He is just another lackey for Team Red to deal with, and let me assure you, he will be dealt with. As to breaking our back, you will not find me, you will not catch them and you will not stop us. When this night is done, the only thing you will have accomplished is showing the world how incompetent your idol is, how ineffective EdenTech is and how big a mistake this idea of yours was. However, it is not all bad, you did give me a new toy to play with. We will not be stopped this evening.
>>
I expect that swordsman has some sort of remote shutdown in case he went rogue, did we find anything like that, or any weakness on him, in the data?
>>
>>20487792
The plan is only as good as their assusmptions. Rica has no idea where we are. Are you calling to offer assistence?
>>
>>20487792
Well fuck. Maybe we can use the data we got from hacking the stuff to shut down his suit or something?

In any case, warn everybody. Maybe we can have a Ronin drive a car into him or something.
>>
>>20488042

Chimera is Team Red.

>>20488058

"I'm here to offer an exchange. You can't defeat EdenTech tonight with the forces you still have available to you, and we can't hack our way into their databases without your assistance. We can perhaps be of mutual benefit to one another."
>>
>>20488055

No remote shutdown. It's not like SWAT officers or Seals come with them. No immediately apparent weakspots, either. You haven't had a whole lot of time to analyze the data, so something might turn up if you have a day or two alone with it, but there's certainly no "hit the weakspot for massive damage" style weaknesses.
>>
>>20488111
I say we take him up on the offer.
>>
>>20488042
This is an immensely destructive act that goes against our practice of killing only when absolutely necessary. We should not do this, even if we were able to quickly hack into a multi-milion dollar piece of engineering and it was able to survive reentry.

Voting for asking if they're calling to offer help, warning the team in the building, and also calling Rica/Deadeye and telling them to get themselves hidden as soon as possible.
>>
>>20488111
Sounds good to me. (especially since we can grab a copy of everything we hack)
>>
>>20488118
yeah, but what about if the suit was stolen, they would have a protocal for that right?
>>
>>20488035

Hm. Fair enough. You can certainly try. Although it's worth thinking about whether or not a 9/11 scale response is something you can handle right now.
>>
>>20488111
Agreed
>>
>>20488201
Its always good to have a "Oh I fucked up destroy everything" plan ready. Switching to work with the hansome stranger
>>
>>20488180

No. Any remote shutdown is something that can be hacked, which means installing a significant weakspot in the suit, and defending against theft isn't really worth that, especially when cyber villains who can hack better than is humanly possible are a thing that exists and aren't even that uncommon.
>>
>>20488111
"One moment please."
Put them on hold, where we've rigged up this delightful self made theme song for ourselves to play, and give Whisper a call.
He was the one who organized all this, he should know what Chimera's trying, that is, unless he's already had our phone tapped for this op.

And if it goes down to it, little Rica and Julio will end up dead and hugged by an acid melting android.

Although, with the Damiyo's swordsmanship, i dont know if the Swordsman can match up. Which means Mesmer and our remaining troops will keep him on the defensive at range, especially if any SWAT are still around, who'll end up trying to shoot him while he's focused on us.
>>
Do we even know if Chimera's telling the truth? Can we have a spare robo-pigeons go and look if Swordsman's actually there? And even if he is there, how resistant to heavy weapons like rocket launchers and stuff is Swordsman?

While the situation looks bad, I don't know if it's worth giving Chimera any of those goodies.
>>
>>20488111
Could we alter the data we send to chimera without them noticing, not anything huge, but enough that the data would be useless to them, they wouldnt suspect us anyway, since it is all "experimental data" and is still in the developement stage. So I say we get thier help, but fuck them over by changing the data we give to them and keeping the real stuff for ourselves
>>
Rica has one hand wound through the bars on the steering wheel, her grip too weak now to hold on without properly anchoring herself. A haze of blood and pain makes her driving ever-more erratic, but the recoil of her assault rifle only makes it worse and Dead Eye's a better shot in the best of circumstances anyway, so it falls to him to sit in the back of the van with the doors flung open, sniping at the pursuers to try and deter them. Unfortunately, while the cars have peeled off to limit casualties, he's having more trouble hitting the pilots of the helicopters now that exhaustion begins to overtake him.

So much so that he doesn't even notice Amp until a sonic blast slams into the side of the car, spending it tumbling over. Dead Eye staggers out of the van, dazed, when another blast throws him into a nearby building. He doesn't get up.

---

"Excellent," the man on the other end of the phone says, "however, we are a mercenary outfit, and must make ends meet. As such, we may require some additional compensation." He elaborates a bit on his fee, it comes out to a total of 25 resources.
>>
>>20488519

You can try, but there's no guarantee Chimera won't notice the changes.

>>20488287

Okata's already wounded from his earlier fights. It's not impossible that he'll beat Swordsman anyway, but it's not very likely either.

"I thought Chimera might pull something like this," Whisper says when you contact him on the other hand, "waiting until our forces are already committed to make their demands harder to refuse. I'll contact the others involved to see if they can pay off the monetary demand."
>>
looks like we are just going to have to give in o their demands, and I say we do fuck up the data, they are making us pay an insane amount anyway, so why let them have the data too. But we will need their help to get this done anyway. Also, we need to make sure mesmer escapes, because we will need his help if we need to pull a prison break later to get our guys out if they get captured
>>
>>20488604
Wait, you mean they just drove around until they got tired and dizzy instead of, like, escaping?

Also you wouldn't pay them 25 if the world was about to end, especially with them getting your services and the EdenTech data. 15(10 if that's also enough to hire an army) is the highest you're willing to go.

Haggling!
>>
>>20488754

Escaping helicopters is really difficult.
>>
>>20488719
It's like you actually believe they won't notice. If we're somehow capable of changing all the giga-to-petabytes of data to a plausible version that won't work, as we're streaming it off the server, then maybe, but I doubt we can do that.
>>
>>20488657
We'll chip in with a hack job on the target of their choice. And once we take out the nine rollers we need to talk to the damio about an alliance that will, circumscribe, chimera's power.
>>
>>20488769
Fair enough. Though I'm unfamiliar with the LA area, I guess there weren't any tunnels or anything nearby?
>>
25 resources is, for reference, about enough to create one elite set and one bruiser set from nothing in a single turn, and also about equivalent to about a month's worth of your current profits. Not total income, just profits. Quite a hefty sum, but not crippling.

Regardless, you're only able to haggle the Chimera agent down to 22, and they'll shave it down to 17 in exchange for the assassination of a target to be determined later.

Amp walks over to the overturned van and drags Rica out of it. "Where is the Iron Master?" he asks while she gasps for breath, blood trickling from beneath her smashed and broken mask.

"Fuck you," is all she says in response.

"You've got a lot of loyalty to a guy who's willing to spend your life on a diversion," Amp says.

"At least...My life's worth somethin' to him," Rica says, "least he wants to spend it instead of just take it."

"The city wouldn't execute a street-level grunt like you," Amp says.

"Take it fast or take it slow...It's all the same to me," Rica says, her breath growing more ragged.

"I'm not here to talk politics," Amp says, shoving her against the wall of the van. She winces and is unable to stop herself from gasping in pain. "All I want is to keep a friend safe. If you help me make that happen, I can pull some strings and make sure you walk out of this with a few years in minimum security."

"I said..." Rica draws in another pained breath, "fuck...You."
>>
>>20488829

There's not a whole lot in LA that's worth tunneling through or under. As far as I know the longest tunnel in the entire city is seriously like 800 feet long, and that's miles away from Long Beach where the operation took place anyway.
>>
>>20488863
Be a good time to call Rica.
And a good time to point out his partner and her dad were continently out of danger.
And a good time to point our our reinforcements are coming with a vengeance.
And a good time to make Amp help Rica and Dead Eye.

now would that work
>>
Damn Rica has some serious loyalty in her. pay it we take care of our own who have proven themselves.
>>
>>20488863
Heh, We never told her where we are. Still, take the deal.
>>
>>20488863
None of our robots made it to the van? (hopefully assuming so so we know what he, and she, said)
Where's Bouncer?
Now would be a perfect time for either to make an effective diversion for the other to nab Rica and abscond to the riverways/sewer network where we can lead them to a safe place by hacking the municipal system, even purging some areas to keep Amp and the cops from following.
>>
We need a flying machine and a rail launcher of evil.
And a bigass suit with missiles and a Gatling gun.
>>
>>20488961
Rica is getting superpowers for this.
Swordsman is an even more enticing treat, and with Chimera's help...

I read a lot of Zeonquest, all the 'mass production' talk from Edentech makes me think

ONE THE BIG ZOL IS MASS PRODUCED...
>>
>>20488863
Oh. Go with the 22 one, killing isn't something we do when we have a choice.

Also, do we know about what's happening with Rica, or is this a Meanwhile... type thing?

Superpowers and citizenship.
shouldn't be to hard to hack that system.

Bouncer was an idiot and didn't listen to us when we told him it was time to run, so he got himself captured.

Ah, ROBOT PIGSTICKER TIME THEN.
Preferably as it coated by dirt, gravel, motor oil, and some nice choice street germs.
>>
"If I hit you with a blast right now, I doubt you'd survive the impact," Amp says, his voice lowering. "If I told the police you'd already died from when your wounds when I did it, they'd believe me."

Rica laughs a little, and abruptly stops when she discovers how much it hurts to laugh. "See? You blue boys always say...Say you're here to protect us, but no...When it gets down to it, you're lookin' out for yourself, just like everyone else. The real land of...Of opportunity's always gonna be down...Down where no one's got enough money to care where you're from, 's long as you can get the job done. You fucks deserve every mugging and murder you get."

A Chimera agent walks across the concrete floor of the warehouse, which had been converted into a hangar for the Manticore, an armored aircraft designed for tight maneuvering in the tight spaces of a canyon, steel or otherwise. He is followed by a team of elite Chimera strike troopers. "Is this vehicle still operational, or have your modifications taken it offline?" he asks the mechanics working on it.

The crew chief steps away from his work. "It can still fly, weapons systems aren't much, though."

"What weapons systems are online?" the agent asks.

"You can lean out the window and shoot things. Or ram them. That's about it," the crew chief says.

"The cloak is still working?" the agent asks.

"Yeah, something like 97% efficient," the crew chief says.

"Good enough," the agent says, and then turns to the strike troopers behind him, "load up some of the bombs into the cargo bay, we'll have to detonate them manually. Hurry."

Get this, Front Page! A tasteful yet eye catching human interest story. Something with Bikinis this time.

Fourth page though, This is where we bring down Amp.
>>
Daimyo Okata has been speaking with Whisper in Japanese, so any hope of Julio understanding what they're saying has gone right out the window. When he gets off the phone, though, he says they need to get to the top floor, quietly. Ultimately, he agrees to pay half the fee, cutting your share of the price down to just 11 resources. Then he orders his Ronin up to the top level, just below the roof, so as not to tip off anyone watching the rooftop where they are, but allow for easy aerial extraction once Chimera shows up in what Okata assumes will be some totally normal helicopter.

The remnants of the team sneak up to just outside the door and wait a few minutes, before they hear a voice ask "how long are you going to skulk in there anyway?" Cracking the door open to check, one of the mezzed SWAT officers reports that Swordsman is outside waiting for them.

"No point in delaying the inevitable," Okata says, "if we attack him now, we may have a chance of defeating him and disabling that suit, at least."

"I don't like this," Julio says.

"You're not in much position to argue," Mesmer says, with an arm around Julio's shoulders to prevent him from collapsing from his wounds. "Besides, he's alone, I can tell."

The remnant of the team steps out onto the helipad atop EdenTech Tower. First the two SWAT officers, then the two injured Ronin, followed by Okata, his armor pierced in multiple places, and finally Mesmer helping Julio along, bringing up the rear. "How are we going to do this?" Swordsman asks from the center of the helipad. "You guys are pretty banged up. Wanna do things the easy way for once?"
>>
>>20489301
Anybody got any ideas to take care of Amp? I think we might have a robot in the car, but I might be wrong.

Where is the robot, anyway? And does it have a chance in hell of restraining Amp long enough for Rica and Deadeye to get away?

We probably should save a recording of him threatening to kill Rica, too.
>>
>>20489417

This.. Nail that bastard to a wall with his own words.
>>
>>20489417

Your bots were all sacrificed while covering Rica and Dead Eye's escape, but you have a comm with Rica that's recording it.
>>
>>20489539
Why do heroes persist in underestimating us? You will fail to stop us, and amp will fail in his desperate attempt to divine my location, again. Really, the pair of you are rather pitable in a way, you a corperate storm trooper venturing for the first time into the depths. And him, a desperate man skating on the edge of darkness, threatening my subordinate with an illegal execution in a doomed attempt to force from her information which she does not even posses. So yes, let us do this the easy way. Step aside young man, before you hurt yourself.
>>
We need to a copy of what Amp said.. We will need to play it for Sofia/Kestral.

Since this had all gone to hell its one of the few things we can use to keep her on our side. And insure we can one day make her ours.
>>
>>20489417
>>20489471
>>20489551
Actually, I'm not so sure about this. It's either a dramatic difference from how Amp usually works, or it's his usual method. If the latter, it won't surprise Sofia in the least and might even insult her. If the former, it'll impress on her just how much Amp cares for her. I think we should keep it unseen.

Also it most likely won't even bring down Amp, at worst he'll just become a vigilante or something.
>>
>>20489551
... How close is she to the steel killers? Which gang can we par off to mount a rescue mission?
>>
broadcast it over the police radio, right now. the police see it as Amp going a bit rogue and threatening thier only lead and they may remove him from the scene/ get her away from him
>>
>>20489680
Assuming she believes his bullshit about "keeping a friend safe". He is doing this for himself too.
>>
>>20489680
I doubt it's going to be a problem if this is different. She already knows that there's no danger from us, and that amp wants to take her suit. If she does turn back to him, we take them both down.
>>
>>20489664
I'll be honest, I don't like your speeches. They sound way too much like trying too hard.

"You mean you surrender? That's acceptable."

I'd suggest fake surrendering, but Swordsman would probably take us downstairs rather than keeping us on the rooftop.
>>
>>20489752

Could we get clarification OP? Was this how Sofia operated? Or will this help us turn her?
>>
>>20489800
Something like this. Stall swordsman as long as possible until chimera shows up.
>>
>>20489752
>>20489795
Because Sofia's behaved as expected so often. Remember when people thought she was immediately going to switch sides when we told her Amp was going to take her suit?

Also:
> If she does turn back to him, we take them both down.
Don't be so cavalier. If she turns back ot only have we wasted a bunch of time to get right back where we started, but she won't consider joining us instead. And taking even one down is much easier said than done.
>>
>>20489807

It's not how Amp and Kestrel operate publicly, but Amp isn't planning to kill Rica publicly either. It's possible they've been secretly killing people a lot. But not very likely.
>>
>>20489938

Ah. Well then I'd play it for her anyway. If she agrees with it, file it away for future use. Eventually, she will disagree with us or our methods. We can cite this as evidence that there isn't as big a difference between good and evil as she thinks.
>>
"You mean surrender? Sounds good to me," Julio says.

"There is no honor in surrender!" Okata says, stepping out to the helipad and drawing his katana from his side.

"Honor is not the first thing on my mind right now, actually," Julio says, "my bullet wounds have the top spot to themselves, actually."

"I see you have at least enough honor to come alone instead of bringing your army," Okata says, ignoring Julio. "Let us settle this with a duel, as true warriors!"

"If you insist," Swordsman says, drawing his own weapon, which hums to life, blue energy dancing along its length.

Okata dashes towards Swordsman, feinting to the right and then striking the left. His durant blade cuts deep through the suit, sparks flying, but then a low hum emits from Swordsman's suit, like Kestrel's, but lower in pitch, and somehow darker. Swordsman and Okata move at blinding speeds, their blades little more than a blur. Within two or three seconds of this breakneck swordsmanship, however, a decisive blow is dealt to Okata, electricity coursing through his body until he falls to the ground, stunned and drained.

The two remaining Ronin level their assault rifles and open fire. An instant later, Swordsman is behind the both of them, a single slice from his blade electrocuting the both of them and bringing them down. The cut itself appears to be fairly small and non-fatal, though the burn from the electrocution may cause complications.

"You three planned on surrendering, right?" Swordsman asks of Julio, Mesmer, and the bot.

"Yeah," Julio says, "I'm thinkin' I made the right choice there."
>>
>>20490101
Er what? I'm pretty sure all of use made sarcastic comments about him surrendering. Where did that come from?
>>
rolled 98 = 98

>>20490101
have the bot try to rip his helmet off / hit him in the head if that happens we can have Mesmer take him over
>>
>>20490101
And that's when the two 'swat' burst in and look around, before seeing the situation is contained.

The bot gives us good footage of Swordsman's abilities, make sure Whisper gets it.
>>
Destroy the bot. Deny it to the enemy.
>>
>>20490159

It didn't seem entirely clear to me whether or not accepting surrender was serious or not. Fortunately there's precious little relevance, since, as demonstrated, Swordsman is capable of cleaving through mooks like they're nothing. The odds of Athletics 1 Julio landing a hit on him are something like one in a thousand, and even your Athletics 4 bot is way too outmatched to have any real chance of defeating him even after Okata landed a pretty solid blow on him. You can break into EdenTech and you can fight Swordsman, but you really can't do both in a row.

>>20489718

Forgot to answer this. The Steel Killers are a set that you actually run. The only difference between them and the Avalon Guard or Iron Legion is that you don't want people to know you're running them, but you still do run them.
>>
>>20490101
Stalling, and definitely not >>20490163. It won't work and he'll fuck our bot up.

Anyway, I'm going to sleep. Try not to do anything too stupid while I'm gone. Thinking about consequences rather than assuming things will turn out as you want them to is a good idea.
>>
>>20490258
See, that's a good idea for if the bot actually starts getting hacked or if it's about to be locked up. As it is, you're pointlessly getting rid of a resource we can ill afford to waste.

Let Rica know help is coming soon. Witty comments about how much you paid optional.
>>
>>20490282
Except for the fact that the damio is rather irked with us. Anyway, have the iron legion bail out rica and deadeye if possible, otherwise we need to start planning a breakout of rica from the normal people jail. And hurry it up Chimera.
>>
"Send a team up, they're done up here," Swordsman says into a comm, "hurry, I can't stick around long, I have to go collect the people from that car."

Amp drops Rica, who slides to the ground, sending renewed waves of pain shuddering through her wounded body. "Hey," Rica says to amp as he walks away, "weren't you gonna kill me? Come on, coward, don't you have the guts to go through with it?"

Amp looks over his shoulder at her and says "I'll do it slow." Behind him, the patrol cars pull up and officers begin running out to apprehend her and Dead Eye.

A sudden gust of wind and roar of engines confuses the officers, who look around in vain for a source. Descending down from apparently thin air come a pair of cables, Chimera troops dropping down and opening fire on the officers. One of them hits the ground and runs to Dead Eye, pulling him up and attaching him to a cable. "We bring her to?" one of the others asks, pointing to Rica.

"May as well, hurry up," the other says, Chimera retreating into the cloaked aircraft, gone within half a minute of their arrival, leaving behind nothing but injured and confused policemen.

"Looks like we won't make EdenTech in time to secure Okata and his team," one of the Chimera agents says, pointing to a news feed inside the aircraft. "They've got a team on the way up to collect them right now."

"Not our men, not our problem. Fighting Swordsman was never in the plan to begin with," the captain of the unit says. "Hopefully he'll leave with Okata's team, otherwise we'll have to find a way to draw him away."
>>
>>20490607
Saaay.
Mazzed SWAT sneak in on the coattails of the team, and when they're loaded into a paddy wagon, the swat guys hop in and drive off.
Who'll stop them, amongst the throng of over officers.

Bonus, the news get to smash the police and Edentech for corruption
>>
shit that is NOT good if Julio ends up in prison he is a dead man that is if he doesn't snitch first.
>>
>>20490607
Hack into the cops net. See if we can find out how they intend to transport their super villain haul. Both bouncer and the group at the tower. Position our and the ronin's sets to ambush the prisoner convoy.
>>
"Dead Eye's fine, girl's hurt bad," the Chimera medic says to the captain.

"Patch her up," the captain says, "at least until we get near the tower."

"Understood," the medic says, and goes to work on Rica, giving her some morphine and then digging the bullets out of her.

As the Chimera aircraft flies above Compton towards Downtown, the captain turns to the unit's demolitions experts. "Prepare one of those warheads for detonation," he says, and then turns towards one of the grunts, "open the bay doors." The doors slide open, bringing a strong wind with them. "It's time to get Swordsman's attention," the captain says, sliding the armed bombs out of the bay doors. They tumble off into the distance and then detonate in the middle of Compton. "Hopefully he cares enough about that shithole to investigate."

A minute later, the pilot says "there he is, Swordsman incoming."

"Keep as much distance as possible," the captain says, "we have no idea what kind of sensor technology is built into that suit, he might be able to see through the cloak."

Ummm, woh.
I mean, just casually bombing Compton? Say what you will, but thats just dropping explosives on it killing who knows how many. maybe a few hurt in a blast, or hundreds as entire tenements are leveled.

It worked. We saved our minion Rica, after being assured of her loyalty in the face of death. But, what have we done, what have we unleashed...

Eitherway, Get those Mezzed cops and our team out of there Now.
>>
>>20490680

The two mezzed SWAT officers try to jack the truck, with the end result that they get shot up while trying to drive off. In the end, there were too many other officers on hand to get away with it. Oh, well, two less SWAT officers in the city.

>>20490704

It doesn't take long to break into the cops' net. Mesmer, Okata, and Julio are being transported to holding cells in Downtown, Bouncer to Long Beach, where they'll all be fitted with various power-neutralizing gear/drugs/whatever, if available. It'll be a day or two between there and the Towers (or, in Julio's case, a regular prison). The Steel Killers are within easy reach of the Long Beach route, but they're basically KoS to Chimera, who own the turf.

You call up Whisper and tell him to put you through to whoever's leading the Ronin in light of Okata's capture. It's easy enough to funnel the information to him to bail out the prisoners from the convoy. Now all you can do is hope it works...

The Chimera aircraft comes to a halt just outside the windows of the office level. Opening the bay doors, the troopers open fire, shattering the glass and then jumping across the gap. After securing some cables, they unload a few empty crates, wheeling them through the corridors as they advance. The aircraft, meanwhile, flies off and begins circling the area.
>>
The strike troopers move quickly through the office level. One pair of troopers splits off, planting C4 attached to motion sensors on the walls of the staircases leading to the office level, while another pair force open the elevator doors and blow the cables. The main team makes short work of the few remaining EdenTech iRobots, then proceed cautiously through the labs to ensure that they're able to take the turrets one or two at a time. Another SWAT team races up to investigate the disturbance, but half of them are blown away when they detonate the C4 trap on the stairs, and the rest are trapped on the wrong side of the new chasm in the staircase. They're forced to call in a helicopter and wait until it arrives so that they can get to the roof and rappel down from there. No point in risking the stairs again.

The Ronin Shinobi are able to intercept the prisoner transport. After sniping the drivers and sending the vehicles spinning out of control, they emerge from the shadows, blow the back door of the van carrying Okata, Mesmer, and Julio, and then vanish with them before the SWAT officers can regroup and start a firefight.

"Alright," the Chimera captain says as the explosive charge blows through the labs for Project Photon, "we'll get to work on the less secure labs, get the Iron Master hooked up to Project Bonfire."
>>
They want into the chemical weapons research after casually bombing a densely populated area? fuck no, Since the data is all experimental data and reseach notes, it shouldnt be too hard to delete most of the furthest along stuff and them update the timestamps on the logs to make it seem like they havent made as much progress
>>
>>20490948
*cracks knuckles* it's time to dance.
>>
Unfortunately, you've little choice but to hack the networks in the order that Chimera connects you to them. You've hacked your way through Project Bonfire, Project Beachhead, and have got started on Project Connor when the SWAT team arrive and begin fighting with the Chimera rearguard. Project Connor's lab contains some freakish, vaguely humanoid creature with a number of extra limbs, each tipped in some vicious weaponry and sporting chitinous skin. "Hm, looks like this was some unlucky bastard who volunteered for genetic enhancement..." one of the Chimera grunts says. "Looks angry as fuck. Do you think it's being locked in a glass cell and horribly mutated that did it, or was it just a side effect of the procedure?"

"The data will tell us that," a Chimera scientists says, "either way he could be useful. Apparently he's dangerous enough to be hooked up to gas, presumably from Project Bonfire."

"Trigger it as soon as we're done, no point in leaving EdenTech with a live specimen to recover evidence from," the Chimera captain says.
>>
Note: You have the data on Project Bonfire but you haven't sent it to Chimera yet. That ship has NOT sailed.

Chimera has apparently snagged Projects Photon and Aegis for themselves already. "Three minutes 'till extraction, hurry," they say to you. You work your way through Project Connor in a hurry, and then they /finally/ hook you up to Project Strider...But only with seconds left on the clock. You're unable to crack it in time. "Put a longer timer on the warheads for Project Bonfire, and any of the labs nearby, at least fifteen minutes," the captain says as his unit retreats, "we don't want any risk of releasing that gas until after we've put plenty of distance between us and the tower."

The strike troopers take some losses on the way out, but are able to haul their crates, packed with mech parts, prototype weapons and armor, pieces of the Swordsman suit and a few copies of the serum, and some chemical samples.

Looks like they are up to something big here.
>>
>>20491080
That ship HAS sailed, they have all the cards here.
They didnt even bother with projects that we're specilzed with and instead handed us piecemeal the things they'd make the most of.
Project Swordsman and Strider were the ones we Needed Explisically, but Chimera in their wisdom ignored our mission and grabbed everything they wanted. Project Conner wasnt even a project explained to us.

"Whisper, plainly, we're Fucked here. I have some data, hardly any of it is useful to me, but they have a lot of hardware they took with them, not to mention collateral is going to be High."

See what sublte hacking we can do, focus everything we have into it, into making backdoors and bugs in Chimera's own networks so we can nab this data when it shows up later.

Oh wait found it.

And i dont like it.

Thread is winding down a bit, so I have archived it here:

However we can still continue for a bit. I'd like to resolve the data transfer to Chimera first.
>>
>>20491169

You already have the Swordsman data.
>>
we could really use the data the Chimera jacked those would be perfect for pimping out our bots and men. Maybe arrange a trade what they got for two of what we got?
>>
Well keep going, act surprised when they take Rica hostage.
>>
>>20491325

You're pretty sure your surprised voice is convincing when they inform you have five seconds to hold up your end of the deal and start streaming before they blow Rica's head off.
>>
>>20491391
Called it. Send them the data.
>>
>>20491408

Someone mentioned altering the data to make it useless. There's a ton of data to go through for even one project, but it's going to take some time to stream anyway, so it's not like you have to do it instantly. Of course, Chimera is not incompetent, and if they notice they might take drastic action. Or they might not, since, after all, you will still hold the unaltered data for the most heavily guarded and dangerous projects.
>>
before giving them the data seed it and inject some payloads as well as a link to a completely disconnected solo server. so that we can infect their network and steal the two things they also downloaded.

as for the solo back up server its in case they also have a super hacker if they find the payloads and seeds the bastard will run into a dead end.
>>
>>20491474
that is why we only screw with a few key pieces after all we don't have to corrupt everything just the few key parts making it damn near worthless. Best part is it will take them a while to figure it out. This will serve as a warning to NOT try to fuck us over.
>>
While sending the data, you're able to slip in a few bugs that will allow you to track the network. It looks like the network they're on is cut off from the rest of their operation, just an empty database to receive your data. Fortunately, you have already planned for this. Your bugs will remain active and embedded in the data, which they'll have to transfer over to a database connected to a network they actually use at some point, at which point it will contact you and connect you to their network. Your bugs will remain active indefinitely, so with luck they will eventually propagate to all of Chimera's networks.

Despite her best efforts, Rica's fallen asleep in the Chimera warehouse/hangar, where they've also set up the receiving database as a temporary means. "What's with her face?" one of the Chimera grunts asks, and it occurs to you that you have never seen her outside of one mask or another.

"Didn't ask, didn't seem relevant to the mission," the medic responds.
>>
"Is it legitimate?" the captain of the unit asks from across the room, speaking to the team analyzing the data stream.

"I can't find any evidence of any edits since it was downloaded from the EdenTech databases. Looks good to me," one of them says.

"Well, then, he's a better hacker then you," the other responds. "These entries on Project Bonfire show a fairly dramatic shift in tone in certain critical places, even though they're marked as being from the same person. The only consistency between the sudden shifts in tone is the importance of the discovery, and entries from the exact same person on the exact same day before and after those discoveries remain mostly consistent with their normal writing style. Either these guys suddenly become noticeably more confident and more angry whenever they make significant progress, or the Iron Master can't convincingly write for twelve different people in the space of about ten minutes."

"Right. Well, we got Photon and Aegis, anyway, and soon enough the bombs will go off, the Iron Master and Okata will take the fall for it, and no one but us will have access to any of these projects. Delete the data from the Iron Master, then destroy the machines and kill the hostage."
>>
You have completed While The Iron Is Hot and received 5 XP. You have also received 3 XP for retrieving the data on Project Connor.

Shit, didn't we have some of our own guys nearby? We need to move in fast.
>>
>>20491827
Is the hostage Rica? Cuz if it is South LA is going to be satellite city...
>>
its too late the loyal unto death Rica is dead fuck such a loyal minion are extremely difficult to replace. but Chimera WILL pay for what they have done and dearly.
>>
wait oh shit op we can some how use our ghost whisperer to contact Rica as a ghost and develop some sort of body for her using our tech? I won't mind burning some xp up if we can bring her back. or dispatch a bot to where Rica lived to acquire DNA hopefully we can clone her a new body and figure out a way to inject her ghost into it. Either way burning some xp to bring back such a loyal minion in my personal opinion is well worth the cost.
>>
>>20492029
I agree,
>>
>>20492029
Or just send the steel killers in as a retreval team, once they detonate the bomb. (like Rica's com isn't recording everything they are saying and providing us with GPS location data). We save our henchmen and the super, release the recording of chimera trying to pin everything on us and laugh at chimera.
>>
>>20493615
Or phone swordsman.
>>
>>20493679
That's actually brilliant. He's obligated to save her,
and we can get a super to verify that chimera are a bunch of dicks.
Also we can give him a copy of the data they made us steal
and that should distract him from handing Rica in.
>>
>>20495962
or we could just point out that here are the twits with the finger on the trigger of the bombs in eden tech. He can try to disable a bunch of bombs by himself without them noticing (good luck with that) or he can try to take out the man with his finger on the button. No need to give him data.
