I've been watching this thread for a while, its great for the imagination. I've given it some thought and I've made my choice.Forgotten Realms, pre-spell plague. Around 1340 DR would be fine. If there's no picking history periods then the last time I checked back in 2010 it was around 1470 DR which is post spell plague and everything is grimdark. (I think, not sure about the dates.
