Many people consider the first couple of moments in a person's life will set the tone for the rest of his/her. Unfortunately you can not consider the ramifications of this notion because you are in tremendous pain. You can not imagine anything you will experience can eclipse the amount of pain you are in right now. As suddenly as it appeared, the pain vanishes. Standing up, you see you are in a modest room; a simple king-sized bed directly in front of a modest lit fireplace,a door, and a window. Further observation of the room reveals a painting of a young man clad in plate with decorative livery on his chest. The painting is titled Pendwagon. Glancing out the window revels a small town situated outside. Many of the buildings are built out of simple wood. The entire thing is surrounded by a Stone wall. Notions of familiarity fill your mind from just a glance while the knowledge on how to perform tasks ( such how to pop units/warlords, convert shumuchers to gems and vice-verse, and how to promote units) swiftly follow. So /tg/ What do you want Pendwagon to do?

>>20587375Oh, I misread the Warlords/Caster thing.
>>20587385Question- Are we able to spend money up to what we will have next turn?Because as is the treasury is currently sitting at zero schmuckers and that presents a small problem. Also though you may be about to post it, tell us about the location where we are currently popped. Do we feel any enemy presence nearby?
>>20587434NoYou are in a bedroom residing in the tower section of a city, the anesthetics of the city itself lends credit to the notion that this is the bedroom of the ruler of this city. And seeing you just stumbled out of bed....
IM raises a good question. Without a treasurey there's not a lot we can do. Also are we capable of popping warlords?
>>20587493First warlord is free and each one after has an increasing cost, which eventually levels
>>20587196Alright, seeing as we currently have nothing. Lets pop some Piker's.Seem a bit weak but they seem to be our base units. How many units can we pop per turn, funds allowing?
>>20587490explore the city, and manage it to get more smuckers. How many units can we pop at once?
>>20587511As many as funds allow
I'm in favor of popping a warlord, since the first is free, managing the city, and then having a look off the walls to see the surrounding terrain.
>>20587510Let's pop them, and may the dice gods be with us.>>20587511Eh, the reason I asked is the treasury is at 0, we can't pop a single unit besides the warlord this turn. Let's hope for a caster combo, get an early advantage.
Seeing as the first warlord is free, we should probably pop one
>>20587510Okay, since the first warlord is free we should get one.Our unit list is very much focused on defense so let's get one that'll synergize well with that.
>>20587511I propose we start with twenty pikers and ten eagles, so we have a defense force and some scouts.
>>20587566>>20587555>>20587554>>20587539Setting the lineup to start popping a warlord, you estimate that s/he should be ready by the start of next turn. Unlike this one,it will take an increasingly longer time to pop another. What do you want Pendwagon to do /tg/

>>20587649manage the city this turn, there is literally nothing else we can do.
>>20587677You can go through the door...
>>20587671Seconded
>>20587677>>20587671Combine these two.
>>20587684Well sure, head out the door, explore our castle.
Deciding that the smartest action you can undertake right is to observe your surroundings, you decide to leave the room. After traversing through the doorway you enter an enormous and mostly vacant room. In the middle of the room sits a large wooden circular table surrounded by 14 chairs. There is a bag and two pieces of paper ( one small and one huge) on the table. From the angle you are currently at, you can not see what is on each piece of paper. In addition there are four wooden doors at each corner of the room.Does Pendwagon check anything in the room or should he leave tg?
>>20587717read the paper
>>20587717TAKE THE BAG! TAKE THE BAG! I mean uh. Look at the papers first, read them if writing is present, then examine the bag.
>>20587717Look at the two pieces of paper, see what's in the bag.
>>20587726>>20587736 Looking into the reveals the presence of an assortment of gems. Looking at papers shows what appears to be a map of the surrounding area. The most prominent of these hex are the four cities. Three of cities are named, though the fourth used to but was erased. The small piece of paper just consists of one line: “ Consider this a loan ~ Charlie” What does Pendwagon do now /tg/?
>>20587795look over the note for interest terms.
>>20587795Step 1.Take GemsStep 2. Convert GemsStep 3. ???Step 4. PROFIT!But in all seriousness, take a count of the gems, and if we can pop units alongside the warlord lets pop 10 eagles and 24 archers, me thinks. For those of you who don't get why 24, erfworld stacks in groups of 8, so we should always, always be making units in lots of 8.

Only one road leads to us so it's going to be difficult to attack us, moreso once we get some pikers who are excellent defenders.Explore the rest of the castle, convert the gems to schmuckers. What improvements could we do to the city with money? Can we improve walls? Are there any known natural resources in the area?
>>20587840Camel-lot is one of three with names. The others are Pax and tempest
make some eagles, for scouting.
>>20587840It's on the map. The other two are Tempest and Pax. A city to the north is un-named. It's about 8 hexes away though, so I think that should be our first place to investigate.
Convert the gems and spend up to a quarter of the schmuckers on getting up to 15 eagles and send 10 for long range and 5 for short reconnaissance.
>>20587835Oh, jpeg is much bigger than i thought.hahahadisregardthatisuckcocksAt any rate notice the road that leads directly from our city to a blank square? Possibly an empty city site, bears investigation immediately. I don't know how much of this is meta, from the way Erfworld describes it Rulers are simply born with the knowledge of how to "play" so if it is too much Charlie let me know and I'll tone it back.
>>20587833>>20587840>>20587857>>20587879Grabbing the gems and converting to Shmuckers lead to your treasury increasing to 6000 Shmuckers. After mentally adding 15 eagles to the ever-growing queue, you decide that a closer look over your fiefdom is in order. Any door in particular or should I pick /tg/?Stats- Warlords/Caster: Pendwagon ( Ruler) Cities: Camel-lot (Capital) Troops:15 Eagles (popping at capital) None Treasury;Income: 5955;+300 shmuckers per turn
>>20587962Without any particular knowledge of what lies behind any given door, I'm completely okay with you picking a door.
>>20587962Let's start with the north door. No reason.
>>20587962Closest one will do.Due to our upkeep we should probably keep initial unit count low. I wouldn't recommend over 40 units plus the eagles. How to divide that guys is up to you but remember multiples of 8 are ideal.>TL;DR MULTIPLES OF EIGHT ARE IDEAL IF WE BUY UNITS BUY THEM IN MULTIPLES OF 8just in case anyone missed it
rolled 1 = 1>>20587962We should pick the fair way and that is a lot of schmuckers we should add a building and build a small garrison of 50/50 archers and pikers along with a small scouting force of pikers .
>>20587994>>20587995Leaving through what you some how know to be the north door, you move upon a parapet leading to the garrison( terminology you some how know) wall. From here you can see into the hex containing the river, to the north-west, and the two hexes to the east of that.what do /tg/?
>>20588049Presuming this a level 1 city I understand we don't have walls, we should really work on that before anything else.
>>20588063its a lvl 1 city but you do have walls. Shabby stone walls, but walls none the less.>>20588027>>20588024I'll be happy to add these to the pop list, if you guys are permitting?
>>20588049Well, without an obvious thing that needs our immediate attention, I'm in favor of walking through the whole city by this stage. Start by examining the garrison I suppose, then continue on.
>>20588049Look around in those directions, see if we can see anything interesting. Return to the table room and head west. How can we improve our city? It's walls, size, add tunnels and the like.>>20588097I'm thinking we shouldn't really get that many troops yet. We only make 300 a turn and if we got like 32 Archers and 32 Pikers we wouldn't make that much.
>>20588097Sounds good to me.
>>20588097We need 1 more eagle so we can do groups of 8.We also should do 32/32 archers pikers
>>20588097>>20588105Well I didn't much want to start a shitstorm on what numbers of units we will need immediately because that will be hard to discuss. 2 groups of Pikers and 2 groups of Archers is my vote but like I said I'm willing to toss into another group as long as total count for them doesn't exceed 40. They'll have 120 upkeep but they won't hit our treasury too bad luckily on initial cost. (Only 280, I just worry about spending more than we're making for now.)I second exploration and tell us about any improvements we can make to the city if we know of any at this time.
so either 3 5/3 pike/archer stack or 3 4/4 stack
>>20588166Heres a thought 2 groups adding up to 16 (archer and pike garrison) and a group of 8(mobile piker group) for a total of 40 while staying in the sections of 8.
>>20588275I approve, though I do worry slightly about the mobile group. Not that we have any enemies to speak off, so worrying is rather pointless for now.
>>20587962adding an additional eagle and a even mix of 24 pikers/archers to the popping schedule, you think to your self that this will suffice for now.Walking through your city, you observe many empty building, all without any form of wear.Blacksmiths and armorers stand empty with their forges cold,Inns have no food stored, and houses have no signs of ever being occupied.Views outside the city proper show that the only notable feature in the surrounding hexes is the riverStats-Warlords/Caster:Pendwagon ( Ruler)Unnamed (popping) Cities:Camel-lot (Capital)Troops:16 Eagles (popping at capital)12 Pikers (popping at capital)12 Archers (popping at capital)NoneTreasury;Income: 5788;+300 shmuckers per turn
>>20588298mange city for more money, then end turn.
>>20588298what city upgrades are possible? as a ruler we should instinctively know that right?
>>20588310Agreeing with this guy
>>20588292Most of its purpose at this point will be to investigate anything the eagles find and to help level warlords against naturally spawning units.
>>20588310Anyone else want to end?>>20588166You can upgrade the city itself, it'll take 6000 shmuckers to get to the next lvl. This results in a base income of 700 and additonal units,You can also build farms, each costs 700 but pulls in 200 each turn
>>20588298Well nothing to do more this turn I suppose.Let's wait till tomorrow, we can send the eagles out for recon and investigate that hex I pointed out.
>>20588334Don't upgrade the city yet, we can't anyway. I suggest building 3 farms, it's a lot of money but they will pay for themselves soon enough.
No, we need to buy farms first.
3 people want to end the turn while one wants to start building farms, anyone agree with him or should the turn just end?
>>20588348Seconded
>>20588368make that two people want to build farms. So should pendwagon order the construction of 3 farms or just end the turn /tg/?
>>20588368Farms, then end.
>>20588381Farms are good.
>>20588368as the person who originally suggested ending turn I say we need to build farms. I assume that there is a maximum number of farms a city can support?
>>20588381Maybe up to 5 farms since the larger investment we do now the more well get later.
>>20588353>>20588348Agree 3 farms sound excellent
>>20588388You can build a farm outside your walls for each grassland hex surrounding the city
>>20588395Over doing it a bit. Need to save some money for an emergency. Plus the more we have the more liabilities we'll have to defend in case someone comes at us.
As you enter your bedroom to herald the end of the turn, you mentally command that the city itself start the construction of 3 farms outside the city proper. As you lay in your bed you watch the sun set outside.---------------TURN END--------------------Final turn Stats-Warlords/Caster:Pendwagon ( Ruler)Unnamed (popping)Cities:Camel-lot (Capital)Troops:16 Eagles (popping at capital)12 Pikers (popping at capital)12 Archers (popping at capital)NoneTreasury;Income: 3688;+800 shmuckers per turn

>>20588627We'd best pop one then.
>>20588657D'oh, we already have. This is why I should read every post.
>>20588647I agree with scouting. Knowing our direct surroundings is key. Also that road that leads to nowhere looks interesting.

>>20588612Just wondering why we aren't rolling for the warlord? (or is there no set-up for that)
>>20588759Well I'm out, catch you guys later, don't start any wars without me, and someone should archive this.
“So, your my liege? “ you reply with “Yes I am, I am known as Pendwagon leader of the side of Camel-lot. Do you posses a name or do I have the honor of naming you?' Following a brief pause the man replies “Puck, my name is puck.” “Excellent!” you say with excitement, Then see to our defenses and oversee our men while I attend our matters.”Sending 4 stacks of 4 eagles outward, you patently wait for news.A few minutes after the news were sent, two of the stacks have arrived at their destination. The stack sent to the northern city shows you that that city to the north is smoldering its streets deserted and its building ruined; the stack end the turn in am desert forest hex. The stack sent to the end of the road from your city is overseeing a suitable location for another city, if you ever need to expand. The stack sent to buzz by Pax and tempest revel startling information, from the looks of it, troops from Pax have laid siege to the inhabitants of Tempest. The stack sent over seas can see a vast hex covering swamp.
>>20588815I'm gonna end this in about an hour, If no one archives it, i will
>>20588772The odds for either a caster of a warlord were split so i just flipped a coin
>>20588867Interesting. How much does it cost to make another city?Could we loot and sack the smoldering city for more schmuckers?
>>20588867How much would it cost to expand to the new city? We should probably do that if it's affordable. Also what are the numbers on the attacking force of Pax? Rough estimate of course.
>>20588867>>20588875Appreciate it, my vote is for rapid expansion. All you really need is a flag after all. I imagine they'll know about us soon enough. Good to meet Puck, starting that second city close by with him at the helm doesn't seem like a bad idea. He'll be close enough to help if things get thick fast.
>>20588907>>20588919 It cost 1000 shmuckers to construct another city and 3 turns. Your eagles can see about 30000 pax troops in the hexes to the south of the city
>>20588933Expand to the new city, and maybe buy another farm? Unless someone has a better idea?
>>2058893330,000? By the Titans, that's a lot.We need more of everything. How much will it cost for a caster/warlord? Can we improve the chances of caster?Expand to the new city location, build more farms, send our troops out to sack the burning city.
>>20588983It'll cost 100 shmuckers and 2 turns, noHow many farms?
>>20588983I'm not sure gobwin knob has that many units, and they're a superpower.
>>20589000Given how cheap that is I'm in favor of lining up a warlord right away.
>>20589000Get another, pray for Caster.Build 3 more farms, we may as well get all we can.We might want to up our troop numbers more, but with 30,000 we really don't stand a chance. How do they even support that many? Is each unit more than one soldier?
>>20589015>>20589018Thats just what your eagles see, they could be fewer, more, from a single city, from multiple cities...ANyone else?
>>20589015They do, the Royal Crown Coalition was pretty big iirc. Plus presumably these are basic infantry traveling only a short distance (i.e. their upkeep needn't be maintained for long).
I just keep being interested dammit...Even at 5 schmucker upkeep that's 150,000 a turn. I suspect diplomacy or we spawned next to Haffaton's bigger nastier brother. That's to say nothing for their magical ability. We need to pull a Faq, our kingdom for a foolamancer...
>>20589120meant dittomancy...
Let me make sure of this:Expand city to the new siteBuild 3 more farmsPop another warlordThat correct?BTW, seeing as this is my first quest thread, how am i doing?
>>20589168Correct. And you're doing fairly well I think.
>>20589168Not bad so far.If the burning city can be looted for stuff get some men over there to loot it.
>>20589191Your eyes in the sky can't tell, so you'll have to send men out to find out
>>20589231Okay. I advocate having our current group of 32/32 Pikers and Archers go out towards there led by Puck and we pop 48 more Pikers and 48 more Archers to bring us up to a solid 80/80.
>>20589254If no one objects, then i'll add this to the production line and then end the turn and this thread
>>20589254That's a good way to completely over-extend ourselves and have no income left. Send a single stack of pikers so there's no significant risk. Plus we need to see about claiming the city, which we should do with Puck and a unit of...archers? I suppose? We don't have enough for a second stack of pikers. We should top up to 16 pikers and 16 archers.
Or you could just send one eagle with a letter and the means to write back attached to its leg.No chance of its capture and subsequent interrogation.
>>20589295just to note, without any more units the side of camel-lot will have an average income of 1300 shmuckers
>>20589339Yeah, I'm aware I was stretching it a bit when I said no income left. Still, in my opinion it'd be better to have the schmuckers to upgrade ASAP, and then if trouble is looming we can pop a ton of units in response. No sense paying upkeep we don't need right now.
>>20589381Like i said, just to noteExpand city to the new siteBuild 3 more farmsPop another warlord Pop 4 archers/pikersare you sending puck and some men or the eagle?
>>20589400For the city? If an eagle suffices, the eagle. I was under the impression we needed a warlord or something to do it.
>>20589272Sounds good, and during the rest of our turn I think we should spend it researching in the library. The thinks I want to look up are: What are the different improvements to a city you can have, What you can build outside a city (can we have lumber mills in the woods? ect...), And let see if the library has any of the history of the area in it.
The news of 30000 troops within a few turns of your budding city is unnerving indeed. In an attempt to remedy this you decide to pop another 8 units for the next turn while a warlord is being produced. Construction has started on an additional 3 farms surrounding Camel-lot while the foundations of the new city to the north-west are being laid. Eventually you will have to think of a name for it, but you can let that slide for know. Anyone else think Erfworld book 1 was great, but book 2 is just really fucking dull?
>>20598567well we havent seen the end of it, and it got a huge break in the middle of it. And now we're barely getting moving with the story. I started reading about at the start of the summer updates right after book 1. I got to read all of book 1 at once at my own speed. That makes a huge difference! Book is great, pacing is great. Now, I might check it once a week. I don't talk about it ever anymore. But maybe when book 2 is done or the prequel is done, then I'll read them all together and think them great.
