As a Cerebrate of the Swarm, we have survived the death of the Overmind, functionally conquered all of humanity both in the Koprulu Sector and on Earth, absorbed Protoss DNA into the Swarm, and seen the resurrection of the Xel'Naga race through a massive specialized crystal, apparently a failsafe triggered by unknown means.

The Xel'Naga, still intent on discovering Perfect life forms, began testing us for that. During that test, they demanded that we take an action that would bring us into war with the Protoss, with whom we had laboriously built a peaceful coexistence. Refusing, we attacked. We have destroyed about 70 of their worldships over the Cube, leaving approximately a hundred still in orbit, firing beams of white energy that tear our forces to ribbons.

We have managed to board seven of those ships, and among those, we have taken the engines of one ship and the weapons control of another (though we've failed to make much use of either system). Shall we try again to find and take vital systems?

Uhmm..That would be the Hybrids of each generation of the Purity of Form and Essence races. This generation those are the Zerg and the Protoss.

Anyway, back to the matter at hand, or claw, or tentacle, our boarding parties.
>>
>>20857799

Make it so, CA.

Are we at least able to completely disable that craft? We can at least have that for salvage while we wreck the rest.
>>
>>20857859
It's not SC2, and it's an one cubic mile crystal on a planet near the center of the galaxy. Not borg, but we did kill Skynet and steal its terminators.
>>
>>20857874
We're still in battle, so I'd say salvage later. Also we need to keep firing their weapons. We might get lucky. Also the engines, and the KITCHENS! WE MUST STEAL THEIR FOOD FOR THE GLORY OF THE SWARM!
>>
>>20857859
>Glaringly wrong

This'll be a post full of not having read the Quest, and thus having no idea what's happened, how things have changed, and what parts of canon did or did not happen, isn't it?

>Hybrids

Oh, hey! Right off the bat, you're using shit from SCII, which isn't canon in this Quest. Not only did I start the Quest before the first game in-universe, I started the Quest before the release of the second game IRL, so I have explicitly rejected all of that bullshit about the Xel'Naga having the most convoluted method of reproduction in the history of fiction.

So, yeah, if you had any idea what you were talking about, you wouldn't be making this objection.

>THEY BORG NAO!?

You didn't even read the OP, did you? It's a cubic crystal activated by a particular psionic signature that allowed them to resurrect.

I'm familiar with the Borg. When the fuck have they used crystals to resurrect? Are you so terrible at life that you don't realize cubes exist outside of one sci-fi franchise?

(Gosh, if having to ignore a couple of trolls means I get a full house of players, I'll take trolls every week)

Our boarding parties fight their ways through the ships' twisting corridors. After pitched fighting, the Zerg aboard the worldship on which we control the weapons systems discover and attack the engine room. The Xel'Naga are incapable of repelling our attack, but manage to sabotage the controls during their retreat. The only way to control the ship's navigation now is the bridge.

On the ship that we have control of the engines, our forces find and storm the bridge. The Xel'Naga commander is taken completely by surprise, and the bridge crew is dead before any sabotage or lockdown can be initiated; the ship's central controls are ours!

Another group discovers the bridge of its ship while the battle for its weapons control station continues from earlier. The news from the bridge is dire, as a Gaussling's incendiary attacks ignite something in the chaos of battle, and three-quarters of the room is caught in an explosion, which depressurizes what is left. As some of our troops drift away from the ship, they confirm to us that nothing left in the bridge appears usable. On that same ship, however, there is still good news. The Xel'Naga holding the weapons station have been killed, and our Brood has taken control.

Battles rage on the other ships, but no vital systems have been secured or destroyed, as of yet.

(Oh, my. DM rolls...and you bitches got lucky)

We fire volleys from the worldships on which we control the weapons. The first ship's weapons simply miss entirely, its shot careening into space. We hope nothing gets in the way of that, somewhere down the line. The second ship's weapons fire exactly where we don't want: directly at the other ship we just fired from. Luckily for us, the blast rakes across the ship's bridge...which we had already accidentally destroyed! Pressurization in surrounding sections becomes a problem, and a few more of our units end up incinerated or drifting away from the craft through space, but overall, the effect is limited. That could have gone much worse.

As we are bungling the weapons firing, we manage near-simultaneous victories on the four ships where systems were still in dispute, bringing our holdings up to:

1 - Weapons
2 - Life Support
3 - Weapons
4 - Weapons
5 - Weapons
6 - Engines, Bridge
7 - Engines

Not too shabby, we think.

I blame the state of out juvenile zerglings on show like Larvae and Laurels, and Teen Queen. I don't know what has gotten into Artisanlord lately.

So, lets fire some lasers, any nukes we can, and maybe crash a worldship into the crystal.
>>
>>20858527

>Life Support

>>
>>20858527
Ships 1, 3, 4, 5 continue firing on non-controlled Worldships.

Ship 2, shut down Life Support except in Zerg-controlled areas. Vent the air if we can.

Ships 6 & 7, using the layout we've discovered about the Worldships, try to take control of Weapons.

Accountantbrate has released all mineral and vespene gas reserves for emergency wartime production, correct?

And finally, is Warbrate believe we can pulls more forces to this battle, using our remaining heighliners to drop forces off at the edge of the system where they will be safe from being shot at, and where reinforcements can then make the short hop in via conventional Warp travel?
Weaken our forces along the Protoss border if we have to.
>>
>>20858527

Okay, take the functional worldships and mass fire at the GIANT CRYSTAL THAT'S LETTING THEM RESPAWN.
>>
>>20858595
If I remember correctly, we didn't really commit ourselves to this battle. Mostly Love Muffins initially, took heavy losses trying to board more ships. Ask Warbrate how improved our chances of boarding more worldships is, now that we have a few to provide covering fire.
>>

Nargil hisses into our mind that the crystal is exactly what we need to revive Father without provoking the Protoss. We can't pass up yet another opportunity to revive Him, it insists.

(Why, thank you)

On the...well, "on the ground," we have mixed results. Despite several minutes of arguing with the AI on the second ship, we still haven't managed to change the ship's air supply from nitrogen/oxygen to chlorine gas. We discover the life support center for the sixth ship, and slaughter the Makers manning it, but it seems they saw us approaching and have destroyed the controls; the system will be locked until (if) it can be repaired. However, after a bit of infiltration into the air vents on the seventh ship has us bursting into the bridge like demons, ravaging the ol' grandparents and taking control with hardly any casualties at all.

Outside, we manage to fire the weapons on three of the ships, two of which actually destroy enemy worldships. Our first enemy kills with a Xel'Naga weapon!

Another flash of weapons fire lashes out into the night, disabling a worldship.

Meanwhile, we've finally managed to worm our way past a troublesome AI on Ship 2 and released large amounts of phosphine into the air. If the Old Ones' physiology is anything like most air-breathing fauna we've encountered, this should lead to a substantial, permanent decrease in the opposition aboard this ship.

The fourth ship's weapon emitters rake back and forth across the side of a nearby ship, stripping layers of the ship away before its engines begin exploding. Without engine control, we can't take evasive action, and the ship is hit with a not-inconsiderable amount of flaming debris.

On ship 2, the weapons control center is completely unprepared for our assault, even with our gausslisks prudently keeping their incendiary attacks out of play in the newly-flammable atmosphere. After a few moments wiping the pureed remains of our enemies from the displays, the weapons are under our command.

Ship 7, however, is not such an unqualified success. Several worldships turn toward it, and open fire; the Xel'Naga seem to have finally decided on how to deal with our attacks. We keep control of the ship's systems long enough to fire wildly and, eventually, to lay in a last-ditch collision course. In a dazzling explosion, two worldships crash into one another, taking about 50,000 Zerg with them into oblivion.

Still keep on attempting to take Weapons Control of Ship 6. Once we do so, have it warp out to Yoshus, where we will take complete control of it and begin deciphering its secrets after we infest the Xel'Naga aboard.

As for all other ships, continue firing.
Boarders are to attempt to next take Navigation, so that we can ram them into other Worldships if it looks like they'll be destroyed.

Finally, will Warbrate be able to get another wave of boarders ready, using all Heighliners at our disposal to get our Swarm to a rally point slightly outside the system? We're doing pretty good all things considered, but we need more Zerg boarders.

Yes.
Except for Ship 6, which is the closest to being captured in such a state that we could bring it to one of our planets for full infestation.
All other ships to continue firing on Xel'Naga Worldships.

Here's a good joke for you:
Q: What kind of useless cerebrate ignores the whole massively coordinated hive-mind thing and only does one thing at once?
A: The same one that thinks Zerg shouldn't have overwhelming numbers!
It's you, Cerebrate Anon. I don't think you're a cerebrate at all. I think you're trying to run this quest with one of those pathetic human brains.
>>
Psychic defence/offense: Just in case the Xel'naga decide to try to overwhelm the psychic link between the broods, all the cerebrates should join or minds together in a way that ensures that, even if we are separated, we can still act in concert with one another: through galaxy-spanning kareoke!

I present our first song!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0DJC-ECU8IE

alternatively, here's an old classic:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKeGwOKr7K8

If we can, we should pump our songs of fury through the Xel'naga communications systems.

On a more serious note: do the Xel'naga world ships which we have captured give us any clues on where it would be safer to warp our troops when trying to board the enemy world ships (ie any nice empty spaces on the ships with easy access to the rest of the ship)?

Final requests: Make sure to bring lots of EMPs and lock-down grenades with us on the next wave. The EMPs can be used to knock down the Xel'naga shield and drain them of energy so that they can't pull dirty tricks like prevent us from warping in. Make the CUBE a prime EMP target. The use of lock down grenades should be obvious :) Strap the grenades and EMPs on zerglings and scourge if we have to.

Final request: start Recalling incapacitated Xel'naga for research and infestation. Sew-together/skin a few hundred of those psychic-null mantas and use their living tissue to form padded cells for our new inmates. The Xel'naga were the second alien species that Daddy ever infested, it should be EASY.
