You're currently sitting in the dining hall of Sanctuary, where your father, Grayson, Lewin, Kristoph, Fellwind, and Jeanne were sitting and talking- the kalak were off somewhere else, preparing new spells or memorizing old ones, and everyone else was off for their own personal reasons.

"And then," Lewin said. "While I was lying there, all melodramtically, scarred and *sure* I was too envenomed to live... it turns out that Ishelda had turned the venom of every troll in the area into lantern oil. I thought the ancient troll had exploded because I was awesome, but it turns out that it burned from the inside because it was extra flammable." He said, and chuckled. "More beasts need to explode when they die, though. Wyverns just kind of... thrash around."

"Well, if monsters started exploding, wouldn't their lairs collapse?" Your father asked, a grin on his face.
"Well, yeah, but that makes the escape more... theatrical." Lewin said.
>>
>>20974862
What if we enchanted a brooch to record everything it sees, and then gave it to Lewin. Then we could open the world's first cinema with awesome real-life action movies.
>>
>>20974862
"Theatrics are nice and all, but I think it'd be better to get out safely."

As long as it has an 'off' button, sure.
"Hey, Lewin. What would you think about recording some of those 'theatrical' battles and escapes?"
enchantment roll
>>
"Theatrics are nice and all," You say. "But I think it'd be better to get out safely."
"Well, of course." Lewin said. "But I've never had to escape a collapsing cavern or building before, and I want to try it, at least once."
"It isn't as fun as it sounds." Kristoph said, frowning.
"You've had to escape a collapsing building?" Jeanne asked.
"A burning one." He said. "I ended up saving my sister, but couldn't get my mother out."
>>
>>20975022
In comes Kristoph to fuck up the mood.

"Oh dear, I'm terribly sorry to hear that, Kristoph."

What were we supposed to be doing again?
>>
>>20975054
Killing time before saving the world again
>>
>>20975071
So like uh, tea or something? Fuck I can't remember last thread at all. I'll go reread it.
>>
"Aw, man..." Lewin said.
"Oh dear, I'm terribly sorry to hear that, Kristoph."
"It was years ago." He said. "Don't worry about it. I was just a kid at the time."
He shrugged.

"Anyway, the guildhall in the city is all set up." Lewin said. "Soon, you'll have adventurers taking care of mutants for you, and operating out of it. That one orcish girl- Carver, I think- is actually really good at that kind of work, building with stone."
>>
>>20975118
"So Scribe had mentioned when they arrived. Even insinuated that she had faked a frenzy just to get to work on Carved Fortress more."
>>
"So Scribe had mentioned when they arrived." You say. "He even insinuated that she had faked a frenzy just to get to work on Carved Fortress more."
"I don't think she *can* frenzy." Lewin said. "Treechild's told me quite a bit about the way orcs work, and usually the solemn, calm ones are more apt to go berserk- while the more emotional ones, be it humor, or anger, or depression- they end up more tame, usually. And Carver is much too angry to go berserk, in a twisted way."
"What's your whole thing with Treechild?" Fellwind asked, suddenly.
"Well, uhm, that's a bit complicated." He said. "She's part of the guild, technically, but she usually sticks near me."
"Heh." Jeanne said, with a sly grin. "That doesn't sound complicated at all."
"It's complicated." Lewin said. "Because of the way she's so normally calm. Means that at... certain, inopportune times, she ends up going berserk."
>>
>>20975362
Wink at him
>>
>>20975362
"Inopportune? I'm afraid I don't understand."
>>
>>20975362
"Ah. That would be awkward, yes."
>>
"Ah, that would be awkward, yes." You say.
"I still have a scar in my shoulder from that. A little bit closer to my neck, and she would have torn out my throat... We're both wary of trying anything like that again." He said. "...and I probably shouldn't have said anything about this."
"Probably not." Jeanne added.
Your father's lips quirked.
"Just make some shackles for her." He said. "That should work."
Lewin coughs, loudly, as Abel almost seemed to wait until Lewin was taking a sip of tea before saying anything.
>>
>>20975478
"Well they'd likely need to be magically reinforced, but that'd be one way of restraining a raging orc."
>>
>>20975478
"That's a good idea. She said she could smith."
>>
>>20975539
This, but instead on commenting on the idea, just say "Well, she said she could smith." matter-of-factly.
>>
>>20975584
Agreed, that seems more in character.
>>
"Well, She said she could smith." You say.
"Problem solved." Jeanne said, with a chuckle, and eyed Abel. "I like you, old man."
"Why, thank you." He responded, twirling his cane. "I may have lost my sorcery, but my mind is still a steel trap."
Lewin grumbles something, finishes his food, and wanders out.
>>
>>20975630
Message just Lewin on the ring, <You know I've got this idea for a magically unbreakable ribbon if you're interested...>
>>
>>20975630
"A steel trap? I suspect it's a bit rusty by now."
>>
"A steel trap?" You ask. "I suspect it's a bit rusty by now."
"When you were six." He said. "You stole Ser Franklin's helmet, and spent the entire time trying to creep behind him as he looked for you, as you wore the helmet. When I asked you why, you said that it was because you were curious what it was like to be a knight. remember it like it was yesterday." He tapped his forehead. "Steel trap."
>>
>>20975722
"Ser Franklin was the one who was able to lead us to you. You can have a chat with him any time you like, just ask Raziel."
>>
>>20975722
"Hmm, well then you should be able to work this out."
Hand him Dras'lea's sword.
>>
>>20975801
Weren't we trying to do that before then just...left without doing it?
>>
"Ser Franklin was the one who was able to lead us to you." You say. "You can have a chat with him any time you like. Just ask Raziel."
"I'll do so. I might take Ser Jaeden with me, too." He said. "I'm sure Franklin would appreciate the chance to tell him 'neener neener' in person. Or, uh, in ether. In spirit?"
"Well, then, if your mind is a steel trap, then you should be able to work this out." You say, and draw the golden sword from the hidden cloak's pocket. You hand the nicked, ancient golden blade to him, and his eyebrows shoot up. He draws his own blade, and compares the two.

"These are... the same blade." He said, finally. "Except one is much, much older- but they have the same markings. They're both your mother's, before she gave the blade to me. That means that the same person made these two swords identically, in different centuries, or one is an illusion, or perhaps... the older one is from an age ahead of the first."
>>
>>20975850
"Do you know where the blade came from?"
>>
"So you know where the blade came from?"
"From the same place your mother did. She said it was the only thing she brought with her, from her home." He said. "And that it was one of a kind."
He looked from one, to the other.

"And... they both have the scar on their edge from the time I fought the archdemon." He said, his voice low. "These are the same blade. Except this older one is... Is such a thing possible?"
>>
>>20975933
"Possible, but exceedingly rare. This sword came from Dras'lea.
This is one of the main reasons I believe she's a version of myself from the future."
>>
>>20975933
"Going by the fact that it happened, I'm guessing it's possible. Gehenna says to send an object over a year back in time would take more energy than exists in the world."

>From the same place your mother did. She said it was the only thing she brought with her, from her home.
How did they use swords without bodies? What did they even cut with the swords?
>>
>>20975979
Magic.
>>
"Possible, but exceedingly rare. This sword came from Dras'lea. This is one of the main reasons I believe she's a version of myself, from the future."
"From the future?" He asked. "Hmm..."
"Gehenna says to send an object over a year back in time would take more energy than exists in the world."
"Based on how old the sword is..." He said. "I examined this blade with magic, many, many years ago, and based on the wear, and how durable I remember the enchantment being... I'd guess it's at least four centuries older than my own blade."
>>
>>20976031
"Even older than I suspected then."
>>
>>20976031
"She does seem really really old. She looks exactly like me, and speaks Arcturuan, and has that sword and a cloak I made and an ancient version of Bubbles. Want to go see her?"
>>
"Even older than I suspected, then."
"My own golden sword held up against hellflame." He said. "And against the power of an archdemon. No normal blade could do that without shattering. In fact... Ser Lucas tried."
"She does seem... really, really old. She looks exactly like me, and speaks arcturian... and has that sword, and a cloak I made, and an ancient version of Bubbles. Want to go see her?"
"Perhaps." he said.

Suddenly, there was a loud banging, as something smashed into a nearby wall, just outside the doorway.
"No, no, bad!" Kaliel called. "Stop it. Sit down."
You hear an ogre groan unhappily, with a warbling, unnatural voice- a mutant, perhaps?
>>
You make your way out of the dining hall, and you see... something sitting on the ground, rubbing it's head. At first look, it was something like a troll, but with flesh instead of vine, and no leafy appendages. Instead of thorns, it had long, curved horns and spikes sticking out of it, and it had enormous claws on it's hands. The look on it's eyes was almost... sad, that it bumped it's head. Kaliel gave it a reproachful look.
"You aren't supposed to run when I haven't finished your eyes yet." She scolded it, and gave you a smile. She took it's hand. "Now, come on, let's get back to the workshop."

It mumbled something that wasn't quite a word, and got to it's feet.
<This would be a lot easier if I had Sardriel's help.> She mentioned.

<ask?>
what IS that?

>>species berecien sounds like a good name to me CAPTCHA
>>
>>20976255
You could ask him, or I could ask for you. He's not all that bad.
>>
>>20976255
<Raziel was talking about moving all the kalak here. Maybe you could get it.>
>>
<You could ask him, or I could ask for you. He's not all bad.> You say, and give her a grin. <And what *is* that?>
<It doesn't have a name yet.> She said. <Part mutant, part troll, part ogre, part... everything else I can think of to add. I'm considering calling it a Berecien.> She said. <and maybe you should. Raziel has been bugging the three of them to try and get them to move here, so maybe you can convince them a lot easier.>
>>
>>20976304
<Yo Neriel, move yo ass over here ho.>
>>
Together, you, Kaliel, and the strange, ogre-troll like creature make your way back to her workshop, where you see a strange chamber in the back, covered in the Purifying Light flowers, surrounding a strange... fleshy pile of flesh, slowly twitching and growing- and you feel a spark of astral fire, and healing magic, that quickly fades.
"Come now." She said, calmly, leading the creature into a second, empty chamber. She touched his head, and he went unconscious.

"Well, I'll have to fix him." She said. "Didn't do his brain right."
>>
>>20976420
"He seems sane enough, if a little simple. And blind."
>>
"He seems sane enough, if a little simple. And blind." You say.
"The blindness is the problem." She said. "I can't give him sight- there's just too much bone in his head for me to fit things in. I think I'm going to have to take out their sense of smell. Or something."
She frowned. "It's hard to balance all of this. That's why I have the mutant over there, to give me new ideas."

"That's what I need to fix." She said. "See if I can clear up room for his eyes."
"I should probably leave you to it, then." You say, and give her a hug. "I'll try to talk to Sardriel and the others."
"Good luck." She said. "And if you can convince them to come quickly enough, Dariel will still be fluffy." She added, giving you a sly grin.

What if we give them each one eye and network them together so they can see what each other would see.

<Neiriel, I heard you might be moving here.> You say, on the ring.
<Ah, Ishelda. Hello.> She responded. <I was considering it, and Raziel has been encouraging me, but I'm still not certain. Here we have relative safety, and we're hidden. But as I understand it, in New Arcturus we'll be open to all people.>
>>
>>20976733
<Yes. Well, it's a city. What are you hiding from?>
>>
>>20976733
<While that is mostly true, you'd have protection under the law, and the privacy of wherever you call home would also be protected.>
>>

We can always make somewhere hidden.
>>
>>20976830
If she's going to grab a basement and never come out there isn't really any point in moving.
>>
>>20976852
Oh, sorry, I thought we were talking to totally-not-creepy harem kalak.
>>
>>20976733
<Neiriel, if I might be so bold, the idea is that you shouldn't need to hide.>
>>
<If safety is your concern, then know that we built castle Sanctuary to withstand a demonic invasion.>
>>
<While that is mostly true, you'd have protection under the law, and the privacy of wherever you call home would also be protected.> You say. <... Neiriel, if I might be so bold, the idea is that you shouldn't need to hide.>

<That is a good point.> She said. <And it is rather close to Azariel's tower...> She paused, for a moment. <Is there clear air, and sun?>
<There is.> You say.
<Will it be a safe place for my children?>
<There will.>
<... Very well. I and Dariel will come to New Arcturus.> She said. <You'll have to speak to Sardriel personally, however.>
>>
>>20976911
<Of course. Let me know when you're ready, and I'll have Aeriel open a portal for you.>

<Sardriel, do you have a moment?>
>>
>>20976911
Of course.

Hello my dearest mind meddling brother. How is the harem holding up? You'll be pleased to know that dead lea isn't sad anymore, as she turned herself to stone.
>>
<Of course. Let me know when you're ready, and I'll have Aeriel open a portal for you.> You say.
<Most certainly.> She said. <I'll gather my belongings.>

You key your ring again, and call Sardriel.
<Sardriel, do you have a moment?>
<Is it time for me to move already?> He asked. <Well, I'll talk the girls into packing up. You bringing us over with a portal, or the airship?>
>>
>>20977034
<Well. You're well informed. How did you do that?>
>>
>>20977034
<A portal. You're coming? I thought you weren't sure yet.>
>>
>>20977034
Chuckle, <Well, if you're willing, though I do seem to have managed to talk Neiriel into coming with Dariel. Aeriel will open a portal when you're all ready, whoever is coming at the moment.>
>>
>>20977034
Are you going to need somewhere private to stay? I'm not sure how people will react to your girls.
>>
<Well. You're well informed.> You say.
<Raziel's been talking to me lately.> He said. <Mostly about 'coming home'. And you went home via portal last time...>
<Portal.> You say. <You're coming? I thought you weren't sure yet.>
<You restored my sight, and you believe me.> He said. <That's good enough for me to decide.>
<Are you going to need somewhere private to stay?>
<That's... probably a good idea.> He said. <Some kind of mansion would be optimal. Of course, if you're giving me land, I'll work for it.>
>>
>>20977186
<We can give you some rooms in the castle for now, I think. Maybe find a nice Ogrish dome to excavate next.>
>>
>>20977186
<Well I was planning on making a school for magic, and having you as a teacher there would be fantastic. I'm afraid that that's a rather long term goal, however. What sort of work can you do?>

<Ghenna, do we have any spare buildings that Sardriel and his crew could live in?>
>>
>>20977228
>Hey kids, I'm Sardriel and I'm your new teacher. Want to join my mind-controlled harem?
This is the best idea ever.
>>
>>20977341
I'd imagine they'd work as aides in the classes, handing out notes and such.
>>
<We can give you some rooms in the castle for now, I think. Maybe find a nice ogrish dome to excavate next.>
<Perhaps.> He said.
<Well, I was planning on making a school for magic, and having you as a teacher there would be fantastic. I'm afraid that that's a rather long term goal, however. What sort of work can you do?>
<Enchantment magic.> He said. <I'm also good at empathic magic, and thaumaturgy- which essentially means that I can effect one object with just a sample of the object, or a similar effigy.>
>>
>>20977394
<Oh I did that once, poison to oil.>

Does enchantment include enchanting objects like weapons?
>>
>>20977394
<Well, we do have a shortage of mansions, so we don't really have one to give you just now, you know.>
>>
>>20977394
<Well, Kaliel is looking for help making the minds of her creatures at the moment.>

>I can effect one object with just a sample of the object, or a similar effigy
I wonder if he could affect Dras'lea by casting on us...
>>
>>20977456
Let's save that particular experiment for later, yeah?
>>
>>20977460
Yeah, that's why it was "I wonder..." and not "HEY SARDRIEL CAST MAGIC HEROIN ON ME AND SEE IF THE STATUE GETS A SILLY GRIN".
>>
>>20977500
Maybe that's what happened, and Dras tore the happiness out and missed a bit.
>>
>>20977456
This is an ok idea. Get him to cast something completely mundane like a marker then get him to examine the Dras'lea statue for it.
>>
>>20977523
I like this, just some sort of minor tracer, doesn't do anything, but you can recognise it if you see it.
>>
<Oh, I did that once, poison to oil.>
<That was most likely sorcery.> He said, and chuckled. <Thaumaturgy requires a large ritual circle, and the effigy needs to be important enough- you'd probably need a sample of the exact poison of that creature, or the poison from the creature's ancestors or parents to do something like that. Impressive, though.>
<Does enchantment include enchanting objects like weapons?>
<Contrary to the name, no.> He responded. <All schools can enchant items. It's a universal process.>
<Well, Kaliel is looking for help making the minds of her creatures at the moment.>
<That's something I can do.> He said. <She's had me make minds out of whole cloth before. I can do that fine.>
>>
>>20977523
>>20977528
I'd rather not fuck with her stasis at all. Seems dangerous. We can experiment when we get back and remove the curse.

>>20977537

>>
>>20977537
<Great! Do you think you'll be ready to move today? We're all heading out on an adventure soon so we might not be around for a few days.>
>>
>>20977537
<Something about fitting eyes in? I'll admit I'm a bit lost. I didn't think eyes were a part of mind-magic.

I'll get Ariel to cast the portal, just tell me when you're packed up and ready to leave.>
>>
<Okay, call me when you're all ready and I'll get Aeriel to open the portal.>
<As you ask.> He said. <I have.. quite a bit of things to pack. I've lived here for almost a hundred years, now, and things build up quite a bit over time like you wouldn't believe.>
<Great! Do you think you'll be ready to move today? We're all heading out on an adventure soon so we might not be around for a few days.>
<Most certainly not, I'm afraid.> He said. <I have way too many things to pack, and the girls won't come without their belongings, and they need to stick with me.>
>>
>>20977747
<Of course, of course. Is there anything I could do to help?>
>>

>>20977747
Summon a few air elementals that he can control to help him out.
>>
>Sorry for sub-par posting speed. Things should pick up now!

<Of course, of course.> You say. <Is there anything I could do to help?> You ask.
<Well, unless you can magically summon some extra workers for me, not really.> He said. In response, you grin.

You close your eyes, and focus your will, as power rushes through your body. You use the power to do what you've learned to do a long time ago- to bring the very wind under your command. Almost ten of the elementals appear, bursting into existance, coiling conjured cable writhing around within the rough shape of a humanoid, lightning constantly arcing from one part of the metal cable to the other. They salute, and you urge them northeast, to Sardriel's tower, and put them under his command.

They salute again, and taking a 'v' formation, launched into the air, picking up speed as they flew.

<... I have a feeling you just magically summoned some extra workers for me.> He said.
>>
>>20978036
"Magic!"
>>
>>20978036
<Yes, I can do that. Hopefully you'll be able to control them. They still drain my power though, so dismiss them when you're done.>
>>
>>20978036
<Of course I did. If I don't teach you that making somewhat joking requests of me leads to it being done we'll never understand each other.>

>>
>>20978036
<Ha ha! Yes! You'd be right.>
>>
<Haha, yes! You'd be right.> You say. <You'll be able to control them. They'll still drain my power, though, so dismiss them when you're done.>
<... Damn, making elementals with such short prep time?> He asked. <I can do it, if I have an entire day to set up the runes. I'm impressed, again.>
<Can you use them? I've never tried putting elementals under anyone else's command before.>
<Oh, if you tell them 'obey this person' they'll listen. Unless they're stupid. But you don't send them going cross-country unless they're smart enough to actually get there... so if they arrive, they'll be under my command. But why'd you really make them?>
<If I don't teach you that making somewhat joking requests of me leads to it being done, we'll never understand each other.>
<That... that is a good point.> He said, and chuckled. <Oh, here they are now! That was fast. Yeah, I can control them. And if I couldn't, I just would have slid through your control, so everything's fine.>
>>
>>20978167
<I'm extremely good at making elementals, if Sorcery could be said to have specialties this would be one of mine. Once I made one out of Astral Fire.

<Take good care of my zephyrs. They'll serve you well.> You say. <I know that earth elementals might have been more help for moving, but transporting them here would have taken a while.>
<You'd be surprised.> He said. <If you don't mind water damage, then water elementals would probably be useful for moving things- because they can just combine, and submerge your belongings enough to shove them with currents. Next is wind elementals, because they can pass through eachother, and they're a lot smarter than anything. Earth elementals can move a lot of things.. but they're bulky, slow, and stupid.>

<Elementals are one of my sorcerous specialties. As far as sorcery can have specialties. I doubt you'd be able to subvert them.>
<Oh, really?> He asked.

Suddenly, you lost one of the elementals. And then the second.

<If you were closer.> He said, slightly panting, as a third and fourth winked out of your awareness. <This would be impossible.>

>>
<I'm actually rather impressed.> You say, as the fifth and sixth wink out of your awareness. <Though you're going to run out of power to sustain them much quicker than I would. I have more raw magical power than you do.>
<Which is why I only stole your control and awareness of them.> He said, chuckling. <You're still fueling them.>

In response, you close your eyes, focusing through to the final, and seventh elemental. You see the elementals working, bringing boxes. You see Sardriel murmuring to a young woman, still in his elven form, as he puts his hand on her shoulder. She takes a deep, rattling breath, and nods, before pulling him into a hug. You hesitate to make the elemental ruffle his hair, and then your awareness of the zephyr vanishes, and you're once again in your own body.
>>
>>20978406
That's mean, leaving us with the upkeep...

Is it rude to pry? I think so.

Let's show Dras'lea to Abel and Kaliel.
>>
>>20978477
>That's mean, leaving us with the upkeep...
It's practical. We didn't even notice we were still paying it so it's not really a big deal to us. And I assume we can just stop paying to make the elementals go poof.
>>
>>20978406
<Ha, alright, then. Let us know when you're ready, then.>
>>
>>20978537
That's what I'm hoping. If he manages to keep an elemental secret from us I'll be mighty annoyed.
>>
<Hah, alright, then.> You say. <Let us know when you're ready, then.>
<Will do.> He responded.

You open your eyes again, and Kaliel is kneeling near the great, burbling sac of flesh, which keeps pulsing with astral fire and healing magic, dutifully taking notes.
>>
>>20978610
"So, what IS that, Kali?"
>>
>>20978610
"Sardriel's coming, and he'll help you. He says it will take him a while to pack though."
>>
>>20978610
Icky, try not to be wierded out.

"Is it safe to be playing with the astral fire like that? I try not to use it unless I have to."
>>
"Is it safe to be playing with astral fire like that?" You ask. "I try not to use it unless I have to."
"That's why I have the Purifying Light in this cell." She said. "It shouldn't be dangerous to us."
"So, what *is* that, Kali?"
"A mutant." She said. "That's it. Not a mutant ogre, or a mutant bug, just... a mutant. And I'm... artificially warping it, I suppose, for inspiration for other creatures. New types of limbs, or new skeletal arrangements... things like that."
>>
>>20978671
"Oh...uh, okay"
>>
>>20978671
"I see."
"Have you ever tried making a flying serpent?"
>>
>>20978671
"Well make sure to clean up after yourself once you're done.

You are so cute when you go mad scientist."
>>
"Oh... uh, okay." You say. ".. Have you ever tried making a flying serpent?"
"Well, there are wyverns and sgragol, so I don't really need to make anything new." She said. "Although I could probably put falcon talons on the belly of a wyvern, and upsize it so it can snatch things into the air..."
>>
>>20978711
Seconding this.
>>
>>20978711
YES!

>>20978723
Have you discovered the secret of the Sgragol's fluffyness?
>>
>>20978723
"I mean like the one I turned into when I was experimenting with shapeshifting."
>>
>>20978775
>That was actually a wyvern. A small one, though.

"Well, make sure to clean up after yourself once you're done." You say, and give her a grin. "You are so cute when you go mad scientist."
"Aw, thanks." She said.
"Have you discovered the secret of the sgragol's fluffiness?" You ask.
"I have!" She said. "You want the truth?"

She got to her feet, and leaned close to you, and whispered.
"They have *more fur* than most beings! It's a legendary discovery!"
She kissed you just below the ear, behind your jaw.

Are there beetles in this world? If not, materialise one so she can get ideas for armored creatures.
>>
>>20978807
"Oh! How do you do it Kaliel? You're so amazing!"

Pull that mad scientist in for a real kiss.

"Did you remember the cat-hybrid form? Did the sorcery do anything fancy?"
>>
>>20978807
"Shenanigans!"
>>
>>20978807
>That was actually a wyvern.
The whole point was to transform into something that wasn't real. We imagined a creature off the top of our head and somehow managed to exactly duplicate a real thing we'd never seen?
>>
>>20978807
"Well, that's underwhelming. I'm going to go sulk for a while, maybe I'll even pout.

Have fun playing with your creatures dear, if you need anything just let me know."

Give her a kiss and wander off. We have some spare time and plenty of magic, so let's do something like turn a road into a living growing elemental that builds itself.

>Sorcery does things. Mostly, your new form didn't exactly follow your imagination, but to the next closest thing. It cured all of the 'problems' in your imagination with things tried and true.

"Oh, how do you do it, Kaliel?! You're so amazing!" You say, and kiss her on the lips. "Did you remember the cat-hybrid form? Did the sorcery do anything fancy?"
"Well... by fancy, you mean that it somehow taught me to cast the form myself, and I now know the markings for it, then yes. Yes it did do something fancy."
>>
>>20978828
I think we've already had quite a bit of discussion with her about bugs. When she was drinking and after.

Something about mandibles.
>>
>>20978894
"Magic!"
>>
>>20978894
"Isn't sorcery the best?"

Um Kaliel, I have a bit of a favor to ask... How good a look did you get of Dres'Lea when she was at the tower? I'd like to know how similar she and I are.
>>
>>20978894
"That's very fancy. How'd I do that?"
>>
"Magic!" You say.
"Magic!" She responded, eyes wide.
"Um, Kaliel, I have a bit of a favor to ask... how good a look did you get of Dras'lea when she was at the tower? I'd like to know how similar she and I are."
"Well, I didn't get much of a good look." She said. "Just the jawline and the lips... and her lips were pale as anything, and her skin was all cracked... She had the cloak, of course, and I saw a flash of a shard of something around her neck, and she had an elven bracer. You look a lot a like, I suppose, but her limbs were incredibly scrawny, and she walked like she was... malnourished, almost. Why do you ask?"
>>
>>20978984
in a very very very quiet voice.

"I don't want to end up like that."
>>
>>20978984
"She said that magic sustained her, she let her muscles waste away.

I'm pretty sure she's me, a me who got hurt a lot and shut herself off from the world, tore out her emotions, and I don't want to be like that."
>>
>>20978984
"I think she's me. Somehow."
>>
"... I don't want to end up like that." You say, your voice as quite as it could be, without whispering.
In response, she pulls you into a hug, stroking your hair.
"You won't." She said.
"I'm pretty sure she's me." You say. "A me who got hurt a lot, and shut herself off from the world, tore out her emotions... and I don't want to end up like that."
"You won't." She responded again, and you feel her heartbeat start pounding. "Not when I'm here. And I'm staying with you, no matter what."
>>
>>20979126
Embrace her. "Thank you."
>>
>>20979126
Can you though? With my ancestry I might live for a very long time. And you keep running off and almost getting yourself killed.

I'm scared Kal.
>>
>>20979152
Yes.

>>20979158
Kalak live quite a long time, as well.
>>
>>20979126
>You are loved. Be happy.
K, doing that now.
>>
"Can you, though?" You ask. "With my ancestry, I might live for a very long time. And you keep running off and almost getting yourself killed." You say.
"I'm scared, Kal."

"I'm a kalak." She said. "We live up to a thousand years, maybe longer. And...

She took a deep breath, and then grabbed out her book. Mala's book.
She flipped page through page, until she reached near the back.
"The process to become an immortal being." She read aloud, and then closed it. "Even my passion can't take me away from you. I swear."

"Just don't get all goopy like Mala. I like hugging things."
>>
>>20979288

>>
"Thank you." You say, and hug her even tighter. "Just don't get all goopy like Mala. I like hugging things."
"Don't worry." She said, and closed her eyes, leaning on you. "I'll be me. A me you can hug, at least- though there are notes on how to become an amoeba creature..."
>>
>>20979378
"What's a meeba creature?"
>>
>>20979378
"...That sounds a bit unpleasant. Isn't an amoeba just a mass of goo?"
>>
>>20979394
Sounds like it'd have a nice voice.
>>
>>20979378
"A what? Sound sticky. And not fluffy."

>>
"... What's a meeba creature?"
"Like, a big pile of goo, that can move around." She said. "But it has to stay damp, and not *too* damp, and there are a bunch of side-effects. But it means I could hug you better."
"Sounds sticky." You say. "And not fluffy."
"It's more slimy, rather than sticky." She said, and grinned.

You stand there for a long while, and then raise a small, minor elemental up outside, so you could see the sun- and it's just past noon, it seems.
>>
>>20979453
Too early for sexytimes?

We should go find something to do.

Maybe show the golden sword to Raz or Ghenna, both would be able to give insight to it's actual age and origins.
>>
>>20979453
"Anyway, we should probably get on with things. I'll see you later."
Put on our swanky cloak and disappear.
>>
"Anyway, we should probably get on with things. I'll see you later." You say.
"Okay." She said, and kissed you again. "See you later."

You take a step back, and then tear the cloak out of your inventory- it catches the air, billowing out, and it swirls around you, and drapes itself around your shoulders, and you vanish.

<... I just have to say.> Kaliel said, through the ring, with a shy grin. <I thought that was stylish.>
You give her another kiss, surprising her, and make your way out of the room, skulking through the halls, the cape billowing out behind you as you walk. The way it moves, it almost seems to be writhing on it's own- and you're certain it was substantially better than the cloak you had made for Lewin.

You find yourself in Raziel's workshop, as she's dipping bones into a vat of something, being heated by powerful, enchanted flames- Zeke's flames, most likely, and she sets them aside to cool.
>>
>>20979618
Don't disturb her, just watch.
>>
>>20979618
Once she's put one down, but before she picks up the next one
"What'cha doin'?"
>>
>>20979618
>you're certain it was substantially better than the cloak you had made for Lewin
Well of course. Not only did it survive the fireball, it then went on for another 400 years without even looking tatty. This is no mere scrap of cloth.

Also do >>20979651
>>
You creep up behind Raziel, your shoes not even making a click against the stone, as she sets down another bone- a femur, it looks like- and reaches for the next.

"What'cha doin'?" You ask, and she spins around, arms blazing with white fire.
"Oh. It's you." She said, panting as you pull your hood off. The flames wink out. "Sorry, you surprised me. I'm armoring skeletons."
>>
>>20979697
You can do that? Fancy.

I want to talk to you about this sword.

Can you look into it's past?
>>
>>20979697
"Amoring... skeletons?"
>>
"Armoring... skeletons?"
"Yep! I'm also carving runes in them." She said, using magic to dip the skull in, and pull it back out, putting it to the side. "And having Cassiel ward them. I'll only be able to bring around a dozen, but they can be folded up and stuffed in crates when they're not being used."
>>
>>20979697
"Oh, I think I get it. You're wreathing the bones in molten metal. Necromantic iron golems, essentially. Very clever! But how do you keep the bones from cracking and melting in the heat?"
>>
>>20979751
That's pretty neat.

I should upgrade the jormangandr to have more space for skeleletons.
>>
>>20979751
"So they're like golems with bones in the middle?"
>>
>>20979751
Could you make yourself bone armor using the same method?
>>
"So they're like iron golems with bones in the middle?"
"Not exactly, But close enough, I suppose." She said. "The armor is too thin to make them properly iron, but it should stop their bones shattering during combat. But that's number eight done. What do you need?"
"I want to talk to you about this sword." You say, drawing the sword out of the pocket of the cloak. "Can you look into it's past?"
"Well, not normally, since I normally look into the location, but I can try."

She blinked, and took a look at the sword, then took out one of the mirrors on her necklace, and stared into it, looking at it's reflection of the blade. You feel divination magic swell up within the room, swirling around her, and she shows you the mirror- but then she vomited, and fell to her knees, wracking her entire body with something... something Wrong.

"Urgh." She said, a moment later, as the magic faded, and she sat back, on the ground, still weak. "I only caught a bit, but... but... that was... that..."
>>
>>20979900
Are you alright? Should I get Marigold?
>>
>>20979900
"That was what? Are you ok?"
>>
>>20979900
Kneel next to her, hand on shoulder, ect.
"Are you okay, Raz?"
>>
"Are you alright, Raz?" You ask, kneeling near her and putting your hand on her shoulder. Her wings twitch. "Should I get Marigold?"
"Divination... divination won't work on that." She said, glancing at the dropped sword. "And I'm fine, don't worry. It's just... that thing is *wrong*. It... It shouldn't exist, that's mostly what I picked up."
>>
>>20979975
"I shouldn't be surprised, considering its paradoxical nature. Was it the blade itself? Or... Something it was used against?"
>>
>>20979975
"Well, I guess that is her name."
>>
"I shouldn't be surprised, considering it's paradoxical nature." You say. "Was it the blade itself, or... something it was used against?"
She cleared her throat, and then closed her eyes, and incanted a spell. A blurry image of something appeared in front of both of you, cast against the wall.

The World Key, sitting in two pieces.

"That's what I saw." She said. "And the spell... rebelled on me."

>End of thread!
>>
>>20979975
"Yeah, that seems like exactly what would happen. I'm sorry for asking you to do that Raziel, I just wanted to know."
