Hello once again /tg/! Hope you're all having a fine afternoon/evening/night/morning or any other time of day, depending on where you hang your hat in the world! It's time once more for Red White and Britfag's Civilization Quest!

Honestly, I'm amazed we've made it as far as we have. You folks never cease to amaze me with your enthusiasm for my little game. Now, fair warning: I may have to vanish for about 30 minutes during today's game, just to stop myself keeling over from hunger, but I'll do my best to make any absence quick. Just a heads up before we start.

The previous thread is archived here: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/21016170/

The full archives are here: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Red%20White%20and%20Britfag

When last we left, the tribe was preparing to continue it's fine tradition of kicking living gods in the fork. Who's ready to play?
>>
hello good sir
>>
No-one..? Yikes... Alright, I guess the countdown's started then.

If there's no response by 22:40GMT, so within the next 30 minutes, I'll suspend the quest and try again on Thursday. In the event of two days in a row with no players, I'll stop the quest.

Lets do this!
>>
What kept you guys! With luck, the others will show up while I'm eating. Looks like we'll be starting a little late tonight after all. All the same, I'll give it my all to get plenty done!

See you in a few!
>>
I might join too.
>>
Had to work late last night, but i'm here too, Britfag el al.
>>
>>21058688
Welcome aboard! If you have any questions, please, feel free to ask!

> Before we start, I'll re-state what I said last thread; you folks are great at short backgrounds for the tribes' heroes, but not so much at their appearances. Heck, I don't even know if Trym was ever described, with regards to his looks!
> On with the show!

Mikuhla accepts Ermetha's talisman, slipping it around his neck. He can immediately feel the warmth of the sun spreading through his limbs, the bitter chill of the snow and half-melted slush ebbing away at once. Ermetha informs him that her talisman will grant his body the heat to confront the snow spirit. In the spring, she will call him away on his journey. So saying, she steps back, into the still-smouldering fire, flames leaping up to lick around her. A spark shoots skywards and the goddess is gone. Though a thick snow still falls within the village, it is nothing like the deadly blizzard that still rages beyond the protective wall of Ermetha's fallen arrows.

What will the tribe do?
A) Send Mikuhla out with a party of hunters to find the snow spirit
B) Send Mikuhla out alone to find the snow spirit
C) Wait inside the walls and let the blizzard die down, dealing with the snow spirit if she returns
D) Call out to the snow spirit in an attempt to summon her to the village
E) Other
>>
>>21058937
I would go for C, after all we need to clean up the snow and tend to our dead
>>
>>21058937

D. We've got to challenge her, no doubt about that. Waiting might not work so well and Mikuhla is the only one who could go outside marginally safely right now but I wouldn't do that so quickly if we can get her inside the warming barrier.
>>
>>21058937

D)
>>
>>21059066
I'd like to clarify this post. We need to call her to us but I don't think we'll have to fight her to be entirely honest. She probably is the cause of this bad weather, but judging from how we originally found her, it might be possible that she's just a sad spirit and her sadness is controlling the blizzard that us unintentionally killing our villagers. Just a thought.
>>
>>21058937
b) we don't want this women bringing in the blizzard into our village killing people and if she gets angry what could happen we need to send him out alone because he is the only one that won't die from the blizzard.
>>
>>21059183
If she came within the barrier, she'd become even weaker because of the warmth being given off. If we do end up having to fight her, that might be a very good thing, I think.
>>
>>21058937
>C) Wait inside the walls and let the blizzard die down, dealing with the snow spirit if she returns
this
>>
>>21059298
I don't feel like putting innocent people in harms way.
>>
>>21059356
Yes, and the "if" is what I think might be the problem. She might return, she might not. Just because we're fine inside the barrier does not mean she couldn't possibly make this blizzard go on for a lot longer outside all while our food disappears inside.

At least if we summon her that makes the chances of her coming back sooner all the more likely.
>>
Rolled 2

It's a tie between options C and D! We've waited long enough, so it's time for a dice-off!

1-3 Wait out the blizzard
4-6 Call to the snow spirit
>>
>>21059425
This now has my interest.
Go on.
>>
Call her
>>
>>21059425
In spite of Ermetha's talisman, the heads of the tribe's families decide that risking sending anyone out into the teeth of the blizzard is foolish. Protected by the magical barrier of arrows and their protective aura, the village simply waits out the snow storm, awaiting the snow spirit's return. She fails to materialise however and after an unknown number of days, the passing of day and night unremarkable in the constant snow, the storm moves on.

What will the tribe do?
A) Send out Mikuhla to find the snow spirit
B) Send out a party of hunters to find the snow spirit
C) Call out to the snow spirit and attempt to summon her to the village
D) [End turn]
>>
>>21059616
C
Let's call her. Not wise to ignore spirits...
>>
>>21059616
A) we still need to contact her
>>
>>21059616

C
>>
>>21059637 >>21059647
I don't think she can get into the village with the arrows. Since she couldn't get in last time.
>>
>>21059616

A. We need to do something about this spirit one way or the other and since nobody wants to bring her to the village, Mikuhla has to go out.
>>
>>21059663
Maybe...but it might go with the Invite to enter rule?
>>
>>21059672
Changing my vote to C.

C. Call to her. If worse comes to worst, Mikuhla will be there ready to do what he must.
>>
The most beloved tribe member is finally here.

A) Go and find that cool girl.
>>
C. Call her and talk just outside the barrier, so she won't feel threatened by us.
>>
Argh, didn't recognize it due to the different picture.

C, I have a gambit on a trap to beat her.

C

> Please do not enter a letter choice more than once... It kind of confuses the counting. Good to see you though Ragnar. We'll be back to the normal pic next week.

Given Ragnar's idea met with approval and come under the winning vote, we'll go with it. Calling her outside Ermetha's barrier. Any objections to this?
>>
>>21060013
None from me, boss.
>>
>>21060013
sounds good.
>>
>>21060013
I say do this but bring something to protect ourselves. Give our priest wooden armor with the symbols of our gods carved into it, think of it as a supernatural hard hat.
>>
>>21060013
sounds great
>>
>>21060090
Crafting it would take far, far too long, I'm afraid

Outside the wall of fallen arrows, the cold is no more bitter than it was within the village. It seems the barrier only exists to keep out the snow spirit's influence, not the natural chill of winter. With one voice, the tribe calls out into the snow, calling to the spirit, inviting it to them. For a while, nothing seems to happen, then suddenly, the air becomes startlingly cold, enough to steal breath from the lungs. The sky, already slate-grey and dark, becomes almost pitch black. Howling all around the tribe, the wind picks up and whips a colossal storm into existence! Snow obscures everything so thickly, that it is impossible to even see half of an arm's length away!

In desperation, much of the tribe tries to run, to struggle beyond the barrier left by Ermetha. Only Mikuhla seems un-effected by the cold, the talisman filling his body with warmth. Quite suddenly, materialising out of the snow before him, steps an unknown woman. She is dressed head-to-toe in black, tattered skins and furs, even her face obscured by the muffling garments. The only things visible are her eyes; a deep and muddling colour, sometimes watery blue, sometimes pure white and other times grey or black as the cloud-covered sky.

What will Mikuhla do?
A) Attack
B) Order her to be gone
C) Talk to her
D) Bow down and offer her worship
E) Other
F) Run awaaaay!
>>
>>21060492
>C) Talk to her

Maybe we can work something out.
Also, we'll probably have to name her.
>>
>>21060492
C. Other than scaring off the others of our tribe, this meeting has started pretty well. Yeah, shit, let's try to get some information on her.

I've been saying it all along, I don't think she is a mean spirit so we might have no need to fight her and that would be grand.
>>
Talk to her
>>
>>21060492
Talk to her, I need my god of death dammit! After this all we need is a god of magic, entertainment, and harvest and we'll have a full pantheon.
>>
C) talk
>>
>>21060492
It's obvious and unanimous: C
>>
Now I'll start writing fluff for a death god's priest, I have the best idea. Remember that pregnant woman, and how during the winter the barrier between the real and spiritual world is thinner (pretty sure britfag something about that a few threads back).

Think about it, the child taken in by s spirit, brought into the slip world of the spirit realm where time moves unlike in the material realm. A child that has seen the world where our dead go would be perfect for our priest of that god (also because she raised him as her own in the spirit realm).
>>
>>21060766
were did that even come from?
>>
>>21060821
Because this ice spirit is a death god, and she took a pregnant woman, and if we bring her into our pantheon she'll need a priest and I like the idea of a child raised by the spirit. Also derp.
>>
>>21060898
Who told you she was a death god.
>>
>>21060932
Felix raises a good point. I have never once said she is a death god. She's a spirit of the snow.

Also, as it's been decided that Mikuhla will talk... What shall he say, people?
>>
>>21060957
Ask why she has seen fit to bring such a mighty storm to our village and ask if there is a way to appease her.

Then I suppose ask about what the dealio was with the pregnant woman in the tent.
>>
>>21060957
"We the people of this village have seen you and are wondering what your name is and why you always bring snow with you."
>>
>>21060957
Ah, my bad. I assumed she was since she was killing people. Also due to the fact in a lot of classic mythology death gods double as winter gods, and winter is a season associated with death.
>>21060957
"You have brought to bear the ice and snow to our village. You have killed our people and frozen our land. We have gathered the gods against you, called upon the spirits for aid. Why do you fight up? In what way have we wronged you? I must warn you, the long fang's pack have faced gods before," then he should lean towards the spirit and get face to face, "and we won."
>>
>>21061021
*us
>>
>>21061021
Oh Refrek, you and your little death cult...
>>
>>21061145
We need funeral rights, other methods of disease control, and superior methods of digging carvers and supporting said caverns. A death god would most likely provide those things, sure I want to promote the possibility of using a god's strength to raise the dead in order to swell our military numbers, but there are a lot of other useful things a death god could provide besides that.
>>
>>21061271
As long as it doesn't become too edgy I'm okay with it.
And also: 'Rites' not 'Rights'. Sorry that has been bugging me for a while now. No offense!
>>
>>21060988
This.

Also, hey, I made it!
>>
>>21061418
It's cool, I will correct myself from now on.

*sigh* if only she could be a death god, a god of ice is only useful in keeping the snow away in the winter....

unless we could use her power for rudimentary refrigeration?! It would be fantastic, keeping our food fresh much longer.
>>
>>21060989
"I... Have no name." The snow spirit sounds unused to speaking, her words halting and unfamiliar, "I do not... Fight you. I don't... Mean... To hurt... You." She looks at her hands, shaking a little, "I am the... Snow. I'm always... Cold. I can't help... The... Blizzard."

>>21060988
"I... Didn't mean to... Kill her," she sound apologetic, regretful, shaking a little more, as though shivering from the cold... Or possibly for another reason? It's hard to tell with her face and form so covered, "I just... Heard... Voices. I tried to... Greet... Them. But I... Killed them... It wasn't my... Fault."

Free response! How will Mikuhla react?
>>
>>21061505
I think we should be a little more threatening than that. We can be viewed as weak, and she has already shown that she has a predisposition to violence.

Tyrm Wolfsbane, Godslayer.
Gerin Battleforged, The Mountain.
Mikuhla the Younger, Forgeborn.

I think those three could best her in single combat, and Hurtir (our wolf god, I can never spell his name) did say it would keep her away for a year and a day.
>>
>>21061547
Free response! Have you learned nothing?

Have Mikuhla walk forward and embrace the girl, she seems like she needs a cry. She hasn't been names yet and she does not seem to be in control of her powers. I believe she might be a fledgling spirit, one only that has newly materialized in the spirit realm. She needs guidance, and our gods are experienced enough to help her.

If she is willing put the amulet on her, it'll probably suppress her power, but she is obviously powerful enough that it will not kill her. We should bring her into the village and introduce her to the gods.
>>
>>21061525
I just had the same idea. Have her shaman's hut a refrigerated warehouse, that would be awesome.

>>21061547
We don't hold a grudge against you. We want to see if we can benefit from each other.
You could help us and we could invite you to our tribe under certain conditions. But you must know to be careful, as you will easily hurt us.
>>
>>21061576
Alright, how about before we go threatening this woman who is clearly emotionally distressed, and totally not aggressive, we all calm down, and see what we can do to help her, ok?
>>
>>21061547
Well she is clearly sorry about that the killings.

I'd ask as to her shaking since that's obviously something important. And then I'd offer her a name and greet her since it seems that is what she wants, really.

As far as a name, I put forth Haimati. If I recall correctly, that was the name of a snow queen in Indian myths. Seems to fit, methinks.
>>
>>21061603
Also this. This is a good one. Very well put, Refrek.
>>
>>21061614
I wrote that before seeing that post, now it's obvious she isn't meaning to be dangerous. Read my suggestion >>21061603
>>
>>21061632
I suggest Khione, she is the daughter of the greek god of winter. i think ti would fit as she is obviously new and inexperienced.
>>
>>21061661
Yea, I was just about to type in that I agreed with your second one. However, maybe we should consult with the wise ones, or possibly other spirits before we put a sun amulet on a snow spirit. Just seems to be asking for trouble is all.
>>
>>21061703
We don't have time for that, she is unstable enough that she killed someone without meaning to. We need to react, not consult the gods, if we wait longer the blizzard might get powerful enough to come into the village again. The sun goddess already said her power was weak in winter.
>>
>>21061722
I wouldn't put the amulet on her, to be honest. That might, eh, that might not work out so well. Especially considering the only reason Mikuhla isn't running for fear of a frozen death is because he is currently wearing it. Everything else is solid though.
>>
>>21061722
Well then have we thought about asking her to make her home somewhere else, far away enough that the blizzard won't effect us, but close enough that we can have a priest live there?
>>
>>21061777
If it's not a permanent solution, it'll at least give us time to think this one over.
>>
>>21061765
We need to take a gamble on this, if we do not do something now who knows how long until she appears again. By that time it might be too late and she will have destroyed our village with ice.

I say we ask her to touch the amulet first, explain it might hurt but we need to know so we can help her. If it doesn't hurt her she should put it on, since it seems to chase away cold I predict it will act like a barrier, keeping her ice powers inside.

Also, once she comes to the village I suggest she stays at Trym's and his wife's house just in case. An experienced god killer should be kept close by.
>>
>>21061777
That would not grant us any power, and gods seemed to be tied to specific locations. If she is to lead we have no way of knowing if her blizzard would stop. (evidence is Chani's island and Hurtir's world wood. They get more powerful the closer you are to them. For all we know her sacred spot is right next to our village and has just activated)

The safest bet is testing the amulet, and if it works to bring her in. If it doesn't and she can not show to control her power...

the only option we'll have is kill her. I do not approach that decision lightly.
>>
>>21061810
Yea, have the unstable young female spirit with the power to annihilate us stay at our most valued hero's place with his maybe envious wife... What's the worst that could happen?
>>
>>21061866
Look's like we accidentally invented the first sitcom.
>>
>>21061866
like I said, if the amulet suppresses her power she'll just be a normal girl. And Trym's wife won't be worried, he only kills gods, not marries them.....

....

....

Guys I have an idea, if she starts staying in the village we might eventually be able to get her to marry some one. Anyone else think mortal god hybrids would be a huge boon?
>>
>>21061880
That's a bigger atrocity than what we did to that prisoner once.

>>21061885
You underestimate women...
>>
>>21061880
Just as planned.

We'll call it Running with the Pack. It'll be about Tyrm, the social inept god killing hunter and his bossy foreign wife. They're be appearances by his best friend, Gerin, kinda like a neighbor deal. It starts with the new spirit moving it and hilarity ensues (Gerin trying to court her, Rani doing her normal river thingy, Tyrm being socially awkward and what not).
>>
>>21061866
Sounds like the beginnings of a harem anime...

Okay, vote on it time!

A) Comfort her, then test Ermtha's talisman to see if there's any ill effects and if there isn't, put it around her neck
B) Just comfort her and ask her to make a home for herself a safe distance away

Also, both the names are good. Along with a vote, please say if you prefer Haimati or Khione
>>
>>21061843
We can't kill her anyway, boss. We could send her away for a year and a day as was previously stated, but if we do that, chances are she will come back even worse because then she'll have a reason to want to hurt us.

As it stands now, she just can't control her powers but is otherwise benign. With Chani's help she could bring her stuff under control and then there you go.

Show her kindness, offer her a name (+worship, obviously) and ask that she seeks help from Chani. That's what I'm proposing and I think it's a great way to go about it.
>>
>>21061913
I vote A, it is the safest bet.

Also Khione
>>
>>21061913
B and Kaimati
>>
>>21061919
Hold off on the worship, worship gives a god power and she already seems to be brimming with more than she knows what to do with. Any more could get dangerous for the village.

Also talking to Chani is a good idea, a river goddess and an ice goddess can't be too far apart.

One last thing, that's why I said I don't approach the decision lightly. It wouldn't be a permanent solution and offer us no benefit.
>>
>>21061913

A. Refrek does make a good point, about the talisman if it works.

And Haimati
>>
A . amulet

And name her khione
>>
>>21061909
Still though, having a demi god in our midsts. One who is mortal enough to feel a tie to the village but spiritual enough to have elemental powers. Think of what it could do for us.
>>
>>21061937
Well, if she freezes the river by accident, then there's probably gonna be a bitch fight. Might want to relocate her somewhere else.

Also A and Haimati.
>>
>>21061984

like the mountains up north?
>>
>>21062000
Yeah, if everything goes wrong I say we relocate her to the mountains up north and destroy what ever sacred ground she has near our village.
>>
>>21062000
Possibly, it would fit. Would be nice though to have her close in case we need her. A thick patch of forest would work too I guess. That's closer.
Difficult situation, since she's kind of a threat to us and may deny us of valuable resources (food) if put in the wrong spot. Still too far away and we can't easily call upon her.

Especially considering she seems really young and clumsy about her powers.
>>
>>21062000
That's what I was thinking. Would also seem very spiritual, climbing up a mountain to her shrine. Very cool.
>>
>>21062055
So it seems A is our choice, but lets keep the relocation and destruction of sacred ground thing as a backup in case everything goes sideways.
>>
>>21062055
You still have to consider our scouts barely managed to reach them yet, if at all. We would need some serious equipment upgrades to make that trip.
>>
>>21062094
Sigh... it's at times like this that you realize just how far away we are from inventing jetpacks... sigh...
>>
>>21062116
We could have Haimati / Khione and Chani make an ice track all the way there and use skates.

Could make that the first attraction of our tribal age adventure park!
>>
>>21062116
And that's why I keep saying we need to focus on magic.
>>
>>21061913
"Khione..." she says hesitantly, as Mikuhla steps forward and puts his arms around her. Even with the protective talisman, she's still very cool to the touch. She seems uncertain what to do, but puts her arms around the tribe's champion, mimicking his motions. After a few moments, she seems to relax a little, the embrace becoming more natural. When they draw apart, Mikuhla touches the talisman around his neck, holding it up and inviting her to touch it. The newly-named spirit reaches out, her fingers brushing the metal with no ill effects. Emboldened by this, Mikuhla removes the talisman from his neck and offers it to her. "Me? I... I-if you offer... It."

The moment the makeshift string leaves his neck, Mikuhla is beset by the full force of the blizzard, snow and driving wind chilling him to the bone in moments. Even as his temperature plummets however, Khione removes the ragged hides concealing her head. Her hair is, of course, white as snow, brushing her shoulders and straggly, unkempt and uncared-for. Her skin too is not simply pale, but such a stark, drained white, she looks desperately ill. As soon as she slips the talisman around her neck however, that changes. A healthy flush suffuses her skin and the wind instantly drops. The snow all around floats to the ground, the blizzard calming in an instant to nothing more than a light snowfall. For a moment, she looks confused, then suddenly collapses into Mikuhla's arms, sobbing heavily.

Once she's recovered, what should Mikulha do?
A) Invite her into the village and treat her like any other god at a festival
B) Invite her into the village as a guest
C) Take her into the village to interrogate her
D) Interrogate and question her right there and then
E) Send her away
F) Other

If you're asking questions, please specify WHAT, exactly... Keep in mind that even guests can have things asked of them.
>>
>>21062243
Oh shit that totally worked. Alright, well, B I guess. I don't think she can handle a festival right now.
>>
>>21062243
Fuck yeah, it worked!

B) she is not used to being a god yet, too much excitement or worship might set off her powers. lets play it safe and set her up with a room in Tyrm's house like I suggested earlier.

I have two questions.
1) Where exactly did she become conscious, where is her first memory? (This is to find her holy ground)
2) How did she come to being in the forest and to the village?
>>
>>21062243
Let's bring her in for torture and execution.

Just kidding, B, she should be our honored guest. I guess no-one would mind a small feast, right?
>>
>>21062243
Well guys, be sure to treat her right, I'm off to play some X-COM before hitting the hay. As always, it's been a pleasure.
>>
>>21062243
B. I have no questions of my own, but it would probably be good to tell her of our other spirits and perhaps call upon Chani so they can meet each other and perhaps find a solution so she may better control her powers.
>>
>>21062299
Haha, you're not me, you're not into killing gods.

Also I say we start her formal education. She should not be treated as a god, but as a normal girl. Have the wise ones educate her, teach her all they know. She is immortal and could work as a repository of knowledge in case writings are destroyed.

After the thaws also bring her to Chani to begin her education of how to control her god powers. She will learn with Chani first, but in time will receive education from all the gods, though we must be careful to keep her humble. Not so far into the spirit world like the others.

To this end I say when she is ready she should take a human husband.
>>
A.
>>
>>21062347
...britfag? did you die?
>>
>>21062324
I hate you to death. We don't get the new XCom here in the UK until Friday. Let's just say you folks are lucky. If it had come out on Thursday, as it was going to before it was pushed back, it'd be touch-and-go if anything short of WW3 could drag me away from it to run the quest!

>>21062280
As the rest of the tribe tries to rescue those who didn't make it over the barrier in time, Mikulha holds Khione and lets her cry as much as she needs. After she is recovered enough to stand and speak again, Mikuhla invites Khione into the village as a guest. She at first seems nervous about crossing Ermetha's boundry, but aside from an unpleasant shudder of revulsion, nothing seems to come of it. Trym is a little taken aback when his house is suggested as a place for her to stay, but she rejects it anyway, though she does accept his hospitality for the rest of the day.

In response to being questioned, she replies that her earliest memory is somewhat hazy. She seems to only really be active in the winter, but she remembers first seeing humans and at that moment realising she existed. For several years, she observed tribes all over the area, gradually crafting her appearance to look like one of them. After her first few attempts to communicate ended much like her disastrous encounter with the family of the pregnant woman from your village however, she mostly gave up, wrapping herself in ragged shreds of hide in shame. Some villages didn't survive her presence at all, being utterly wiped out by the harsh winter. As to how she came to be here... She says she has always been here. Every winter, the snow is due to her. It's her duty to make sure it falls. Sometimes that means it has to fall harshly. Until now however, she has been unable to control the blizzard surrounding her. Ermetha's talisman's heat seems to be counter-acting her natural cold however, though her skin is still cool to the touch.

Will the tribe...
A) Ask her any more
B) Insist she stays
C) Allow her to go [End Turn]

Don't worry Britfag, my Australian version of Dishonored was subjected to plenty of alt-tabs to get double the fun!

C), but tell her that she's welcome to our village any time during the winter, as long as accidents like these don't happen

A. Ask if she would like help from our river spirit Chani so that she may be better able to understand and control her powers so that she may walk amongst people without fearing that they might succumb to the cold.

Then if no other questions are asked, I suggest we tell her that she is welcome in our village if she so chooses to return.

Khoine agrees that she might do well to visit Chani and learn from her. Before she goes, she makes a point of saying goodbye to Mikuhla, thanking him once again for the gift of the talisman, before walking away from the village and vanishing into the snow in the late evening.

> And that's all for tonight. Good grief it's late! I'm glad you were all here and hope you had a great time!
> Next thread will be on THURSDAY at 4:30PM EST, same as ever. I hope to see you all there!

She is far too useful to let leave, at least she needs to be stabilized.
