One year and eleven months ago, you were an Incubator. The Ninth Incubator, to be specific. One of the twenty that survived the horrifyingly dangerous trip to this particular rock in space.

You were never the sentimental kind, but sometimes you wondered what kind of fate befell those who never resurfaced. Those who never took up the call when you finally shook off the teleportation sickness, when the fumes of warp-matter thinned enough that you finally stopped choking on your own bile. Those who never pulsed their response back after the cackling of sleeping gods had finally faded from your ears.

Contrary to popular belief, it is surprisingly easy to kill an Incubator.

All one needed to do was to convince him that he was getting the better end of the deal.

You are currently on the lap of one of your top Eversors, Kyoko Sakura. She is, predictably, deep asleep - even without consulting a watch, you know that it is much too early for the girl to be up and about, with her being the nocturnal sort. Today was different, however - you've told her to wait for you here, to assist you in meeting two of your prospective contacts today. But you weren't to meet her for another hour or so - no, you were forced ahead of schedule due to a certain Girl A violently reacting to your presence.

It didn't hurt, of course. Well, maybe a little bit, but it certainly didn't sting as much as it would have looked like. You were more miffed at the sudden displacement, the jarring realignment of your reality reminding you more of blasted teleportation than anything else. Still, you were whole, and for now this would do.

+AWaKEN+ was the single word you pulsed directly into the snoring girl's mind, and you probably should have been a bit more gentle, from the way she immediately snapped awake with a shouted expletive and a wince. SHe would have probably tossed you off her lap, too, had you not hopped to the empty spot beside her on the bench just before she did. You make a mental note to be a bit more considerate, next time.

"W-wha? Kyuubey?" The scarlet-haired Eversor slurs slightly, her voice still thick with sleep and muffled alarm. "W-what's...what's going on?" She blearily looks around, crimson eyes creaking open. "What...what happened to the cat I was pettin'? H-he was here a moment ago, he was on my lap and everything--"

You cut off her sleep-addled mumblings with a greeting, and a brief reminder to straighten up. She does so after a few moments, smacking her lips and scratching at her unruly hair, before rubbing the grit from her eyes.

[1/2]
>>
>>21385178

"Yeah, yeah. Okay. I'm up. I'm good. Morning fresh." Kyoko murmurs in a voice that says completely the opposite. "What...i-is it time already? B-but I was positive I had a few hours left to sleep in, still--" She yawns as she pulls out her smartphone, which had ceased ringing a few minutes ago. "Yeah, the contract's not till later, what's going on? I--" She falls silent. "Huh. I missed a call from Mami. Says I need to call back as soon as I can." The Eversor glances at you, puzzled, and you merely nod. She does so, and the other side picks up at the first ring.

The background noise is...well. You could hear gunshots, and what sounds like something hitting finely-honed steel. And shouting, a lot of shouting.

"H-hey, what's going on--" Kyoko starts, and you look up at her in silence as her eyes widen and her color pales. "W-wait, what? Girl A woke up? A-and she started shooting the place...? Where'd she get the--HEY!"

Kyoko exclaims as you reach up with one appendage and snatch the smartphone from her grasp. She opens her mouth as if to protest, but seems to simply frown crossly at you as you hold the oversized device to your ear.

"Kyoko-chan? Kyoko-chan, are you still there? Please tell Kyuubey--" Mami's voice is interrupted by gunfire and what sounds like Sayaka having a really bad day.

You tell Mami that it's you on the line, now.

"K-Kyuubey-san!" Mami exclaims, and you feel a strange tingling in your chest as you hear the concern in her voice. "I was...I was worried when I saw you--her--a-anyway, you're safe, aren't you? You're with Kyoko-chan, now?"

[2/3]
>>
>>21385190

You answer to the positive, while being slightly disturbed all the while. She'd seen you die a few times already, after all. This was not the first occurence, although probably the first violent death you've received for quite some time. She knew about your countermeasures, as much as you let her know, so she should not be worrying one bit.

...The fact that she did, though, strangely makes you feel...good, for some reason.

"G-good! That's...that's good. U-um, Kyuubey-san, I know this is hardly the time, but may I ask for a Culexus to be sent over here, in Girl A's room? She's...she's gone completely berserk. It's...I need her to be shut down for now, until we can figure out what to do. I--"

More gunfire, and you could hear Sayaka screaming at Mami.

"No! NO! That is the last thing we will do! Do not harm her, Miki Sayaka, that is an order!" Mami screams back, and her voice is ragged when she comes back to you. "Kyuubey-san, please, give me authorization. We can't reach the Warmaster for some reason, and you know how she gets...!"

Some more gunshots interrupt Mami's tissue-thin veneer of civility towards Kharn, and you find yourself smiling slightly at this.

What do you decide?

[]Refuse. Have Sayaka take Girl A down. Putting a Culexus at risk is not something you can afford, not now.
[]Accept. Have a Culexus team get there and shut Girl A down, and have her placed her in the Silent Room.

No, I'm saying that Chiaki has to plan every single last thing meticulously and never be afraid to use excessive resources to ensure a kill.
Or perhaps that she has to learn a limited Time Alter version of her timestop so as to not get jumped by Faust every time she activates them.
Or perhaps that she should have a bonding exercise with Faust where they set up remote explosives in every building in Mitakihara.
Who knows?
>>
>>21385747
We have actually had no tests to tell us if she will appear every time we time stop because no one had the balls to actually go for it

Every time the option came up it was "oh no avoid Faust, horrible gruesome death is better than seeing her when she is probably going to talk at us"

Chances are we use time stop and sometimes she will be there sometimes she won't, she will use it to fuck with us by subverting our expectations

"Kyuubey-san?" Mami's voice comes over the line, uncertain, panicked, fearful. "Kyuubey? Kyuubey, the Culexus--"

+ALPHARIUS+ You briefly close your eyes as you send a pulse of urgency back towards your main Officio Building - your telephatic message surging downward, past the Silent Room floors and into the warded, sealed environment of the Culexus. Where only the truly purified, the truly sacrosanct, could step through.

Nineteen of them - their leader missing - cant their helmets towards your direction. Ninteen skulls facing you, giving you their complete and rapt attention.

Nineteen pulses of acknowledgement are sent back to you with a uniform, practiced unison, and one voice answers for each and every one.

+Your orders, Incubator?+

You allow yourself a small smile. There was a reason you yourself sacrificed so much to create them. There was a reason you expended so much resources to train them, to hone them into the weapons they are.

If there's anything you learned from your lessons with the First, it's that an Incubator always should have a trump card. Always. No matter the situation.

You had twenty of them, each one much more precious than the last.

+Answer Mami Tomoe's call for help.+ You reply as quickly as you can. +Render Girl A unconscious and harmless. There may be some resistance, so do it quickly and completely. Incarcerate her in a Silent Room afterwards, and have two Culexus stand guard.+

A moment's pause, and you feel a small shape, hewn out of amusement and trepidation, pulsed over to you. You shrug this off - involuntary feedback, most probably from the newest Culexus. +Do you understand?+

+Understood. We are en route.+ A sharp, terse reply, and you cut off the connection with a small snort. You open your eyes again, and you dimly hear Mami shouting your name.

You tell her that help is on the way, and that she should brace herself and Sayaka for their arrival.

"T-thank you, Kyuubey," Mami breathlessly thanks you, before another crash ends the connection rather abruptly. You blink at the Call Ended screen of Kyoko's smartphone, before you wordlessly hand her the device back. she takes it from you, grudgingly, frowning at the screen, and then back at you.

"What...what the hell was that? What was that racket?" She asks after a moment. It seems that all she'd been doing was to ask questions since you woke her.

You tell her, as briefly as you can, that Girl A had awakened, and there were...occurences. You go on to say that things are under control now, and leave it at that.

"B-but..." Kyoko stutters. "That was Sayaka! A-and Mami! And there were gunshots and everything!" Both her eyes wide, she shakes her head. "That's not just an 'occurence', Kyuubey! What the hell was happening over there? What's Girl A doing?!"

You blink up at the Eversor, before repeating just what you'd said. A bit more forcefully, this time.

". . .Christ, why do I even bother asking you?" Kyoko growls. "But...you contacted the Culexus just now, didn't you?" She pokes at an ear with a pinky finger, wincing. "Dammit, tell me next time you're gonna do that, I'm gonna have an aneurysm or something--"

What? She heard your message?

"The hell are you saying? Of course I did." The Eversor snaps. "It was like listening to you screaming into a goddamn megaphone right beside me." She shakes her head. "But...I guess if the Culexus are in charge, then things'll be okay." Kyoko nods to herself. "Sayaka can take care of herself, whatever the hell that was. Mami can, too."

You nod silently at this, before shaking your head yourself. Sometimes, the Eversor could be a bit...irritating. One of your best, sure, but she was prone to getting carried away.

"Well, uh, you're here now, I guess," Kyoko says after a moment, shoving her cellphone back into her jacket's pocket. "What do we do? Uh, the first patsy isn't due here for half an hour. I guess we can just wait for her, or go to the second one." She reaches up with both hands to fuss with the ribbon keeping her voluminous hair tied up in a highknot.

You consider Kyoko Sakura for a moment, and she returns your stare with a slightly quizzical look on her face, one eyebrow quirking up into her hairline. While you yourself are quite eager to get those contracts made - every Soul Gem counted as far as you were concerned - you can't help but admit that the Eversor's little accident had piqued your interest some. While your pulsed message earlier was indeed made in a rather loud volume - to stress upon the recipients the urgency of the situation - you had made sure that only the Culexus would only be able to hear it, tuning into their exact specific frequency. Not even a highly-trained sensitive would be able to pick up on it.

And yet, she did. Curious.

"Uh...Kyuubey?" Kyoko is the first to break the silence between the both of you, her brow furrowing. She tries again, a frown curling her lips. "Hey, boss--"

You cut her off by hopping towards her lap and settling there, coaxing a squeak of surprise from the scarlet-haired Magical Girl. You tell her, in no uncertain terms, that the both of you will just have to wait for the first contract prospect. Going off to the second might make you miss the first, and you despise missed opportunities.

You also ask her if she could pet you while you wait. You've seen her do similar things to stray cats, in any case - surely she can accommodate you, can't she?

There is a very uneasy silence as you feel Kyoko look down at you, and you sense her uncertainty - and awkwardness - at the entire situation. Her hands hovering above you.

"P-petting...? I...uh..." The girl's temperature goes up a few degrees, and you could feel her thighs shift gently underneath you. "W-well, uh, yeah, I've done it to cats, but I've..." She swallows. "I've never had to pet my own boss before, so..."

[1/2]
>>
>>21386371

>>21386371

The same concept applies here, despite the fact that you despise the domesticated felines. If she was at all worried about not being able to perform according to your exacting standards, you promise not to expect too much from someone who swings spears around for a good amount of her free time.

"That's encouraging," Kyoko remarks, before finally running her palm down your back. Her fingers gently raking lines down your skin, parting the white fur momentarily before they shifted back into place. The motion terminating at your lower back.

+Again+, you pulse at her, using the Culexus frequency once more. This time, she blinks, and does so after a moment. "It's...different when you said that, just now. Not like when you normally talk." Kyoko shakes her head, before absently scratching behind your ears. "Eh, I'm probably just still sleepy..."

+Incubator?+ The Culexus pulse towards you.

+Say again?+ Yet another one of them blurts, eager to take command.

You tell them to continue with their duties, and to not mind you for a while. As it is, you're enjoying this little session, all while turning this recent discovery over and over in your mind.

Kyoko Sakura may be more useful to you than just an Eversor.

You will have to take note of that.

[2/3]
>>

>Kyoko Sakura may be more useful to you than just an Eversor.
A Culexus with Eversor close-combat ability?
Or perhaps, an Eversor that is capable of picking up all manner of Incubator-only communications?
This bears testing among our brethren/competitors.
>>
>>21386457

"S-say, Kyuubey, uh..." It's then that Kyoko speaks once more, hesitantly, bringing you back from your reveries. "I don't mean to bring this up now, but, uh...if it's fine, I'd like to, uh, have my Soul Gem attuned...t-to Sayaka's." You crane your neck slightly to look at her, and she stiffens at your gaze. "It's just s-so we can share Grief Seeds and such, you know! And...and, like, if she gets lost or captured or something, she can easily track me down! And vice-versa!"

You blink up silently at her, before you reply. In the normal fashion. Asking her if she is, in fact, asking you to permanently link two of your best Eversors together in an eternal bond. Where one's death could mean irrepairable harm to the other's sanity and Soul Gem Integrity. Where such an event guaranteed a Witch being produced from what little of the surviving party was left. Notwithstanding the fact that you rarely sent the both of them on the same assignment - more often than not, they were seperate, on different operations.

"But...but think about it!" Kyoko pets you again, a bit harder this time, and you wince slightly at her sudden eagerness. "That means you have two Eversors for the price of one! We can get our Soul Gems cleaned at half the amount of Grief Seeds, a-and we'd be that much more in sync, and we'd never lose track of each other!"

You blink at her, and ask her right out if she was, in fact, admitting to breaking one of the Magical Primer's main rules: that relationships between Magical Girls, even those in the same Officio, is forbidden.

"W-what? I...no!" Kyoko goes a deep red, and sweat trickles down her cheek. "I-I'm not that kinda girl, Kyuubey! We're...we're jus really good friends, that's all!"

How do you respond?

Erk... I'm with this guy. Being reasonable about it, it's not like Kyubey is hurting for grief seeds if he's running such a huge operation, so the grief seed cost is negligible.

However, losing two high ranking Eversors, one which might have a rare ability to eavesdrop on telepathy, and another who's set to surpass Kirika, well, that doesn't sound good.

"The matter will be taken under consideration."

And we'll refuse by never bringing it up.
It's simply too dangerous, given Sayaka's tendency to expend large amounts of magic needlessly and her increased probability of eventual Witching out being a danger to Kyoko.

So basically Midori is fucked because the procedure is going to fuck up Matsuda.
>>
>>21386584
I like this. Let's do it.
>>
>>21386839
Different type of attunement I think
Ours is like holding a leash on Midori where the one Kyouko wants is fusing two souls into one
>>
Wonder of this attunement is in anyway like what Chiaki and Midori got. I mean, what Kyouko mentions has some similarities but there are also differences.

I guess the question is: if Midori witches out, is Chiaki in danger of going insane?
>>
>>21386839

Well, Midori didn't go FLESH OF FALLEN ANGELS when Chiaki used the golden katana. So the golden corruption probably doesn't go to those who are attuned, though the regular darkening might.

Though Kharn did mention something about a possibility of the circuit passing through Midori's soulgem. From my rudimentary knowledge of how circuits work, this could possibly mean that Midori may be subject to anything that passes down from Chiaki's soulgem down into Wally. She may also be aware when Chiaki is experiencing intense discomfort or pain.

>>21386584
Definitly. If only to test her commitment.

You blink at Kyoko's almost pleading expression, the girl evidently banking on your saying yes - and you let out a small sigh as you turn away, resting your chin on her lap. What she says does make sense, but at the same time, you can't help but feel that the downside of the attunement is much too severe to justify it. The fact that she is obviously quite enamored by Sayaka - you did not graduate at the top of your class to be hoodwinked by little girls - would make their attunement a most tenuous, dangerous thing. You don't even want to consider the worst case scenario, which is basically the both of them turning into Witches in the same time.

The casualties would be enormous, the collateral damage incalculable.

You make your decision just as Kyoko resumes her petting, this time a bit more gently.

You tell her that an attunement between two Soul Gems takes quite a lot of resources, and that both candidates need to be perfectly compatible with each other. While you appreciate her obvious enthusiasm about cutting both her and Sayaka's Grief Seed usage in half, you tell her that it's going to take a bit more than that for you to consider her getting attuned with Sayaka Miki.

"B-but--" She tries, and you cut her off by continuing.

You'll look into the matter personally, you tell her. You're not saying yes, but you're not saying no, either. You just think that such a serious reallocation of resources needs to be considered very carefully first, and you're nothing if not very thorough. Very careful.

"Right." Kyoko says after a moment. "A-alright, Boss. I gotcha." A small sigh, and then a smile. "Thanks."

You tell her that her thanks, while appreciated, was not necessary.

That's another thing you found strange with such girls.

Some of them can be desperate enough that they'd believe anything you say, and thank you for it.

>>
>>21387155

A few moments more of peace and quiet, and it's then that Kyoko nudges you. "First prospect's here." Her voice is unusually low-key, right now, and you sense something akin to...guilt, perhaps, staining her words. Or maybe regret? "Little girl with the short green hair. Near the duck pond." You turn towards the directions given, and you see...what looks to be a young woman, barely above elementary age, in what looks to be her own bedraggled pajamas. She looks like she'd ran away from home, and she clutches what looks to be a paper bag of bread crusts with heavily-bandaged fingers.

"She comes around the park every day, before school, to feed the damn ducks." Kyoko murmurs, now scratching behind your ears once more. "Yuma Chitose, I think her name is. One of the old fogies here asked her who she was, I just happened to hear 'em. Told her name AND her age, just like a proper kid, you know?" It's then that you hear a tense tone in your Eversor's words. "Sweet kid. Just, uh, I heard her dad work her hands over with a flat iron. Nearly melted them together. Mother got her jaw broken trying to stop him."

She does look a bit young, but...there's definitely potential there. You could sense it. A contract with her would be quite the considerable addition to your numbers, as it was.

Still...her situation, as it was, seemed complicated. Inconvenient, almost. Is Kyoko sure that she was a prospect? Abusive parent aside, she does look rather satisfied with where she is right now. She's even feeding the ducks with vigor, although her bandaged fingers are clumsy about it.

[2/3]
>>
>>21387201

Your Eversor shakes her head. "I'm sure, Kyuubey. It's...let's just say she needs that contract really bad, huh? I mean, look, even I can tell she'll be good. Sure she's young, but she can probably spend a few years just training and helping out before we send her off into active duty." She smiles down at you. "Go on, boss. Do that contracting thing you do."

You crinkle your nose. This smells slightly of deceit.

How do you respond?

Pretend to refuse this prospect, prodding Kyoko to see if she will reveal more information. If she does, then we can pretend to be convinced by her, making her believe that her opinion is valued, and perhaps making her more open to previously mentioned testing. The girl will likely be useful, so refusing outright would not be a good plan. We need to give Kyoko the opportunity to give more information. With her as she is now, it is likely that she will let something important slip, if she is indeed keeping something from us.

I don`t really get it. Why would we care? And why would we be opposed to Sayaka and Kyoko witching out?

Meguca + Despair = Witch = More Delicious Emotional-Energy to fight the Entropy.

If the job doesnt break them, their wish will sure as hell fuck them over since its fueled by their own happiness/misery.
>>
>>21387502
We care because while we are still coobie we aren't the one from the show

We work smarter and let other incubators have their girls witch out and keep our own strong so that we can take over this entire sector of the galaxy so that once we finish this job we will be rolling in cash, bitches and pancakes
>>
>>21387210
>[x]Press Kyoko Sakura for more details. She's hiding something.

We should probably act disinterested and somewhat insulted by this prospective. This may spur Kyoko to spill more details on her.

>reply:

We are not running a charity service, nor does this Officio look to exploit people who have little control over their life. Such distasteful practices are best left for other, less dignified organizations. Unless she has something truly outstanding about her, we will move on.
>>
>>21387502
Indeed.

If we eventually find out that Kyoko really was hiding something important we could blackmail her with it so that she will work harder.
>>
>>21387502
What confueses me even more, is that while Kyoko took Yuma under her wing in the Mango, she tried to do everything possible to keep Megucas and Coobie alike away from her because she was aware that wishes ultimately bite you in the ass.
>>
>>21387502

That's the attitude to take towards the lower ranks.
However remember that we also do some mercenary work on the side and it would hurt the company to throw away our best employees.
>>
>>21387529

Either Kyubey's motivated by his finding acceptance and status here amongst the other Incubators, or he sees the value in building a strong powerbase in an otherwise untapped portion of the universe.

Meanwhile, his other stuffy brethren and peers just want to be done with this as fast as possible.
>>
>>21387389
Yes this.

Besides, worst-case scenario we end up with a disposable footsoldier that will turn into a relatively weak witch.
>>
>>21387553
I think that the system here isn't quite as bad since it seems the officio goes to great lengths in order to train, protect and supply their meguca

this sounds better. I like it.
>>
>>21387234 >>21387240 >>21387245

Something about this prospect is bothering Sakura Kyoko, and you don't need to skim her thoughts to know that. The only problem is that you're not exactly sure what about Yuma Chitose that's got your Eversor all tense, somehow. It doesn't seem to be anything important - you'd know if she was hiding anything that could potentially endanger the Officio, that would just be a very easily-seen red flag - but it was there, and it was niggling in your mind. Like a splinter in your brain.

You glance up at Kyoko and stare up at her. Keeping yourself completely still, not even so much as deigning to breathe or blink. Kyoko blinks at this, before sweating slightly. "...What? Aren't you going to make with the contract? S-she's right there, Kyuubey--"

You ignore her words and keep staring at her. Utterly motionless.

"Kyuubey, I--" Kyoko tries, now flustered under your gaze. "C-come on, she's gonna leave in a little while, a-and people are starting to look at me funny--"

Silence. Utter silence.

"F-fine!" Your Eversor seems to finally snap. "She's...w-well, Kyuubey, come on! Look at her!" Kyoko waves a hand towards the oblivious Yuma, who is currently talking to the slender-necked geese, giggling when one of them plucks the bread crust from her hand. "It's...I know she'll be in a better place if you contract her, but I can't help but feel as if I"m throwing her to the goddamn wolves. I mean, if she's with us, she's not going to get beaten up like that anymore, but..."

You allow the scarlet-haired girl to deal with her inconvenient emotions as you watch her in silence.

[1/2]
>>
>>21387765

"She...she kinda reminds me of my younger sister, alright?" Kyoko spits the confession out like a curse. "Geh, I don't know why you make me have to say it, Kyuubey, it's not like it matters."

It does matter. Quite a bit.

Honestly. Sometimes, they just make it much too easy.

So is she admitting that she has emotional ties to this prospect, then? As she should be aware, that automatically disqualifies the prospect from being a contractee. You've made that abundantly clear to her when she went scouting.

"I know, I know," Kyoko waves a hand irritably. "I swear it's not going to affect my performance much. Just that..." She glances at Yuma, who is now visibly trying not to nod off as she is watching the ducks slowly drift aimlessly on the pond. "Can you make her as someone that, uh...doesn't need to be on the front line?"

You blink at this. That...is doable, but it really does depend on her wish, doesn't it? Whatever it was, anyway--

"I already asked her," Kyoko cuts you off. "Uh. Hypothetically. I asked her if she wanted to be a Magical Girl, someday. While we were eating taiyaki." You frown slightly at this breach of protocol, but Kyoko forges on. "She says she wants to...be the Magical Girl that helps people make their dreams come true. Or...or something like that."

You...you could probably work with that. Still, you devote a couple of minutes reminding Kyoko about her unprofessional behavior. It's unbecoming.

[2/3]
>>
>>21387781

"Yeah, yeah. I just want to see her get away from her folks, and...be happy." Kyoko lets out a weary sigh, before patting you on the head. "That's not too much to ask, is it, boss?"

You're not exactly the authority on what is too much and too little to ask, but sometimes...well, you have to make do with what you're given.

It's to note here that Kyoko Sakura seems to be asking quite a bit from you.

How do you respond?
>>
>Dream come true

What was Midori's real name?
>>
>>21387806
SPECULATION!
>>
>>21387787

Contract the girl. Regardless of Kyoko's feelings, there's no reason to disqualify an otherwise worthy candidate.

However, we should have a talk with Kyoko about not getting too emotionaly attached to her fellow employees.
>>
>>21387814
Midori's older than that, isn't she? Like, by quite a lot. And she was the contractee of another Officio.

>>21387781
Anyway, though it's certainly a breach of a number of protocols, it's worth noting that Kyouko also gathered some rather important intel on our candidate, isn't it? It's sort of like a pet - Kyouko wants her in, if she screws up it's on Kyouko now. At least, that seems like a reasonable enough condition.
>>
>>21387787

>[x] "That depends on her choice Kyoko Sakura. I allow all of my contractiess to choose to become Puella Magi of their own free will." Then we approach the girl.
>>
WE DON'T BREAK OUR OWN RULES

Do not contract
>>
What if... If we do not contract her, someone else will. And someone is the 3rd.
>>
>make people's dreams come true

If the wish is related to the power, then she might gain some sort of intuition or foresight. Help people make their dreams come true by avoiding possible pitfalls or hardships. Her upbringing may incline her to help others avoid the types of hardships that she has experienced during her life as well.

Could make a good functionary or planner or bureaucrat of some sort. At the very least, she might be of some use in making sure a tiny portion of the paperwork required for QB Heavy Industries to exist gets through.

Although there may be a slight problem if she gains a flash of insight into Incubator politics or tries to dig too deeply into such matters.
>>
>>21387787
I vote for contract. She sounds like she will have a usefull talent.
>>
>>21387888
Given that Yuma's wish in the manga was to help Kyoko and she received healing magic we can reasonably expect her wish here to come out similarly.
>>
>>21387787
"Happy? Sakura Kyoko, you know very well the kind of life that a Puella Magi experiences, as the price to be paid for your wish. Are you sure of this choice?
"No matter. It is up to the girl to decide. Her choice must be made of her own free will, after all."

Contract her.

>>21387861
Remember that every candidate we reject is a potential recruit for our competitors, especially since there's 2 right on our doorstep when we're normally supposed to be distributed to 1 per geographic region. Contracting her prevents her from being contracted by the 3rd and 10th.
>>
Contract! Contract!
>>
>>21387806
Sakamoto, I think. Not sure, and the archive isn't very phone friendly.

>>21387787
"Very well, but it has become most irregular, which I would prefer to not happen."
>>
>>21387787

Kyoko should not make a habit of this, the girls position in the officio will depend entirely on her wish

would it be a fair trade if Kyoko gave something up if we gently nudge the girl in to a less dangerous position?
no i don't mean giving up on the bond between her and Sayaka (although it might be good to research less invasive ways for Magical girls to be able to share grief seeds).

contract her.
>>
>>21387858

Seconding this.

Let's see if this prospective is able to see us without us intentionally revealing ourselves. Perhaps Kyouko has an affinity toward people who can sense things beyond the normal person's capabilities.
>>
Do the contract but tell her that her unprofessional behavior isn't helping her soul attunement request. How can we bind those two together when they are like that?
>>
>>21387937

I think Sakamoto was the false name that she gave Chiaki. Hanegawa was the name that Kyubey told us, and from which Midori confessed it during the cab ride to the Lovelace mansion or the airport.
>>
>>21387963

Ahhh thanks.

We will have to find her in the awakening world after then.
>>
>>21387963
That sounds more right, I mainly reca the questioning of the name, not the actuality, now that I think of it.
>>
>>21387912

Well in Oriko Magica Kirka's wish was to "Change herself" which granted her the ability to slow down her opponents and those raptor claws. Here when we read her file her wish was "To be strong enough to protect the one she loves" and she still got (roughly) the same powers.

Yuma Chitose might have roughly the same abilities

You shrug off Kyoko's hands and clamber off of her lap, landing neatly on the space beside her, on the bench. You tell her that you hope that this will not be a habit of hers - she knows full well what happens when one gets too emotionally attached to a potential contractee. As a Magical Girl under your employ for quite some time now, she should have known better. Has she forgotten what kind of life a Magical Girl must lead in order to survive?

"I know that," Kyoko tries. "B-but I just...I wanted to get her out of that place, out where her dad can't hurt her anymore, and--"

You cut her off with a pulse of disappointment. You're surprised that she has the gall to ask for an attunement when she went ahead and did something as foolish as this. The Officio is not a charity, it is not some well-meaning hospice for poor and distressed young women and children - it is a place where those prepared to serve went, those without futures or lives to look forward to. Yuma Chitose may be having problems at home, but that was nothing that Social Services couldn't fix, right? How can you, with all of these, rightly consider any of Kyoko's requests as something you should grant?

"Kyuubey..." Kyoko hangs her head, seemingly in shame. You look at her for a moment, before letting out another sigh.

You are getting too soft, indeed.

You hop off the bench and walk towards Yuma Chitose. Mentally preparing yourself for the huge expenditure of energy about to take place.

Kyoko only stares at you, dumbfounded, as you tell her to keep a close watch on you, in case some Magical Girl decides to interrupt the procedure. We certainly can't have that, now do we?

"R-right." The Eversor stutters, before saluting. "I got your back, sir."

You nod at this, before resuming your walk towards Yuma.

It was to find out just what kind of wish will make her soul gem shine brightly.
