Sixteen worldships remain over the Cube, along with a remnant of a remnant of the Protoss fleet, led by Khas, and less than half of the forces we sent (which constituted half of the air forces belonging to the Swarm).

The battle has contaminated the very fabric of reality surrounding the Cube. Warp travel is impossible, and slipstream travel is treacherous. The Xel'Naga computers estimate that the damage might be extensive enough to tear a hole in the universe itself, spontaneously.
>>
>>21450320
Alright, power just came back and I'm on time.

While the battle rages on, have Labrate and Internbrate go back over the Terran psi-dampening technology. Is there any way to weaponize it, preferably using parts that our forces could scavenge from the battlefield (Protoss parts, growing Zerg organs, and from wrecks of Xel'Naga Worldships)?
I don't like that psi-bird, and I want a way to destroy it.
Like maybe funnel its energy away using a khaydarin crystal array.
>>
>>21450320
So what happens exactly when there is a hole in the universe? Does everything just go down the drain?
>>
>>21450320
I do like -dG, so how are our forces, and the protoss force doing? Also 10 again? not 109?
>>
>>21450320
That last thrust hit the Xel'Naga hard, but it also depleted our forces sharply.
We're slowly winning this battle of attrition; have Warbrate fight conservatively, helping to screen the Protoss fleet as it attacks.
Khas and the Protoss like to charge in head-first; we'll keep the worldships from flanking his charge, and let him do what he does best.
>>
>>21450465
Make big speeches, glow, but ultimately need his ass saved by a schizophrenic space slug?
>>
>>21450502
Pretty much.
Oh, and unwittingly be used as a patsy in the greatest piece of galactic trolling ever, as the Zerg proves Tassadar wrong by being staunch allies of the Protoss (though we maintain a friendly rivalry in terms of our colonization programs).

We should totally stop wrecking the fabric of the universe. Might be bad mojo.

That being said, maybe Khas should focus on damaging the life support systems if they're accessible from the outside through heavy bombardment? We've got a few ships and if they share a decent amount of floorplan we can tell the Protoss "shoot here to suffocate them".

>>

I think it's >>21450399
and >>21450465

Warbrate provides fire support and covers the Protoss' flanks, while they undoubtedly concentrate all forward firepower at the remaining worldships.
Meanwhile, Labrate and Internbrate work on trying to come up with a weapon that we can use against that psi-bird, using khaydarin crystals and Terran psi-dampening technology, and preferably jury-rigging something that we can build with local wreckage at the battle.
>>
>>21450881
Continue the attack? Declare that North is now South, and vice versa, on Xenta?
>>
>>21450918
>>21450399
Even if we had a way to harness the psi-null glands (they're not technology), we haven't got much of a way to deliver it.

>>21450946
>>21450465
A cautious attack?
>>
>>21451027
I though the suggestion was to build a disruptor on-site. Still don't think it's a good idea, but I don't think it was the glands.
>>
>>21451125
Wait, like a Psi Disruptor?

Not only do we not have that technology, that's also a ridiculously bad idea.
>>
>>21451027
>cautious attack
Yes.

>psi-null glands
No, I'm not talking about those.
I'm talking about the Terran psi-dampener technology (idea is to use it in a probe that shoots towards a target, then expands a psi dampening field), and another idea is to use the Protoss khaydarin crystals from the wrecks of their ships, and see if they can be used to draw psionic energy in towards a battery of some kind.
>>
>>21451172
Psychic dampener implants are a part of the neural inhibitor suite of implant technologies used by the Confederacy in their Ghost Program.
http://starcraft.wikia.com/wiki/Psychic_dampener
>>
>>21451208
>>21451180
I guess we could give it a try, but we're in the middle of combat, and I don't know how many zerg Labrate would need to build those in the field.
>>
>>21451243
I'm not expecting him to have it done by the end of the battle; I just want him to get started on it because that damn bird is still going to be there once we finish off the last of the Xel'Naga, and we need a way to attack it.

As for the idea of the khaydarin crystal psionic energy leech, I was thinking of reversing the flow of a Protoss Shield Battery's psionic energy storage; instead of distributing energy out, it sucks energy in.
>>
>>21451208
>http://starcraft.wikia.com/wiki/Psychic_dampener

Those regulate the part of the brain that controls psionic activity, not psionic energy itself.

They certainly don't control psionic activity outside the brain.

>>21451275
Labbrate might be able to work with this idea, but it doesn't know how long it will take. The bird might be long gone before it gets any results.
>>
>>21451289
Well look, that fucking bird is going to be out there, looking to suck up our psi energy like a giant mosquito of 'fuck you I'm an energy being your bio-weapons don't do jack-shit'.
It's going to be a problem to us, one way or another; I want to be prepared for when we have to go psionic bird hunting.

Chaos reigns in the battle. The Xel'Naga rally unexpectedly, and their ships fire mercilessly on Protoss and Zerg alike. Our coordinated assault with the Protoss destroys two of the worldships, but casualties are astronomical. The Protoss are down to a handful of ships, mostly trying to guard Khas' heavy carrier as it continues to press the attack with no more support.

Our forces are not faring much better. The Xel'Naga's vigorous attack has nearly crippled our forces. One or two more rounds of combat like that, and we'll be finished. With Cyberbrate's reinforcements still seven days away, we can't afford to take that kind of a hit.
>>
>>21451850
Have Cyberbrate analyze the sensory inputs from all of our Overlords concerning the worldships; is he able to identify a weakpoint in their designs?
Like a lightly defended thermal exhaust vent, or a concentration of communication arrays that would throw the Xel'Naga into disarray?
Perhaps a primary power coupling on the southern hemisphere?

We need something that Warbrate can use.

>>
>>21451850
Okie doke. Have a few units pull back from the fighting, try to spread out through the system. If our forces are wiped out we'll need some eyes to watch what the worldships do.
And that fucking bird.
Suggest to Khas that he pull back as well. Maybe after getting a few more kills.
We have reinforcements incoming, and with local spacetime as choppy and Michael J Fox with a hedge trimmer the Xel'Naga probably aren't going anywhere soon. No need to throw it all away after doing so much damage.
>>21451927
As far as warping in-system is concerned, the same shit happens; scrambled or smeared over the whole system.
As for radius, I think the closest we tried was 8 days at sublight. I think we should keep poking at the edges to see if we can get anything closer, though.
>>
>>21451996
We only need a dozen cloaked Overlords to keep an eye on the system.
We need to finish off the remaining worldships.
>>
>>21451924
Cyberbrate complains that there's hardly any similarity in the designs of the worldships at all. It's almost as if each one were designed by a different engineer, with different ideas about what makes a good ship.

(You can roll 1d100 to see if it can find some common weakness, but I don't give you great odds)

Several hours and several hundred scourge later, we've made no progress on the distance. It seems like we just happen to have staged our rendezvous point right at the edge of the affected space.

As for Cyberbrate's analysis, we are about to ask for a status report when it bursts into our thoughts, whooping and cheering. The structure may be different, but it's found a major flaw in the assembly: a sort of joint used in most of the ships' sharper corners, that is incredibly vulnerable to attack. This could more than double the efficiency of our attacks!
>>
>>21452273
Quick!
Send that information to Warbrate and Gorn, and inform Khas that we have identified a weakpoint in the Xel'Naga's design.
Once informed of the weakness, the Protoss shall strike the final hammerblow against our common enemy, while our Zerg masses protect their ships.

Giving him the honor of 'winning' this battle will cement Khas' belief in the Zerg's new nature.
>>
>>21452310
Artisanlord conspiratorially suggests keeping the weak point secret from the Protoss until that final hammerblow, revealing it at the last moment as if we just realized it and only Khas can strike the blow.

It thinks the movie will sell better that way.

Warbrate has some less-than-polite things to say about what Artisanlord can do with the movie sales.
>>
I suggest to Artisanlord that he is quite right. However, the best choice would be to add that scene and simply put a small comment on the poster "based on real events"

Nobody will tell, the protoss don't even like Zerg TV. . .

Why are we killing the Xel'naga again?

Oh yeah, slavery. Carry on.
>>
>>21452394
I don't know.
It might work better if we reveal the weakpoint now, so that it provides the Zerg and Protoss with the ray of hope needed to plan their final attack.

That, and we kind of need to actually WIN this battle before we can make it into a movie.

(E GAD but that was close.)

Reality ripples throughout the system, and everything in it feels to us like a sheet of paper held in two fingers, flapping dangerously in the wind; just another gust of wind could crease it, tear it, or pull it from our grasp.

The Xel'Naga will to survive remains indomitable as its ships continue to winnow away our forces. Warbrate now predicts that our defeat is fairly likely, but that the worldships that remain will be no match for Cyberbrate's reinforcements. Together with Khas and his swiftly dwindling fighter escort, we bring down a full four ships.

Only ten worldships remain in this system.

Defensebrate reminds us that we have a worldship just outside the system with functioning weapons. It may be pretty damaged, but an extra set of guns might be just what we need.
>>
>>21452831

>>
>>21452831
Ask Khas to fall back. Zerg reinforcements are on their way, but they will take time to arrive. Our Zerg aerospace forces will protect him until then.

While the Zerg can survive the loss of our broods, the Protoss cannot survive the loss of their leader.

Also, that worldship is to continue making best speed to a place where it can safely warp back to Xenta for reverse-engineering. It's far too valuable to lose.
>>
>>21452854
The ship is far too distant to hit anything accurately. We'd have as much chance of hitting Khas or our own forces as the Xel'Naga, and a much higher chance of hitting nothing at all.

Of course, we will have to move back into the space the Xel'Naga ships are occupying to obtain the necessary supplies on-site to build one there.

The Love Muffins are less than a week away, now.
>>
>>21453147
