The thing about a story involving a Yandere is.. the futility of trying to reason with her. This is why those stories are as bittersweet as they are tragic.
When MC realizes that the person he is dealing with is batshit insane she has to be way past the point of no return. Trying to reason with a Yandere should be like trying to talk down an avalanche.
Its not love or devotion that is the appeal of the yandere, it is the the fact that everything that can go wrong, will go wrong.
It is that struggle and the hope to change your and her fate that is appeal of the story while knowing that it is an impossibility to change her broken nature.

That's pretty much what happened in the good ends of the first routes. Well, more in Rin's case than in Lilly's. Rin "got better" and we got off without murdering untold amounts of people. They got to live relatively happy lives.
