Okay, this time for sure. I'm feeling a lot better, and am ready to run a thread. As with last time I tried to get this going again, the party's on the fifth level of the pyramid, it's late in the afternoon, and at midnight they know that at a nearby oasis some Priests of Zargon will be meeting with goblin merchants to buy a drug used in their rituals

With the amount of honey taken from the hive, the alchemist makes you a profit of 750gp a month, or 25gp a day. As the owners, you can buy potions of healing for 350gp each (while customers would have to pay 750gp for them). Just for when you guys get back to Mistamere to check on the Honey Pot.

>>
>>21904922
Sweet sweet profit. Pun intended.

Jenai will continue to wrap her armor in black cloth to prevent clinking and also shining, and smears her face with soot, etc etc. Goblins are also given the same treatment.
>>
>>21904423
Hey what's this? Some kind of Tabletop game on /tg/?
>>
>>21906316
Yep. I'd been sick for a while, so it might take a while to get going with the people who usually play not realising that I'm back today.

Anyone who wants can join in the game too. Roll 18d6 for your ability scores (STR INT WIS DEX CON CHA) and then pick a class (Cleric Dwarf Elf Fighter Halfling Magic-User Thief)
>>
Rolled 1, 6, 1, 4, 1, 4, 5, 2, 1, 6, 2, 3, 5, 2, 4, 6, 4, 3 = 60

>>21906364
Is this a traditional dungeon crawler?
I see a dungeon map up top but I should ask first.
Also what's the party alignment?
>>
Rolled 5, 2, 1, 4, 3, 4, 4, 5, 6, 4, 4, 6, 6, 1, 5, 2, 3, 6 = 71

>>21906382
Also I'm totally taking a mulligan on that.
>>
>>21906382
Yep, dungeon crawling, monster dealing, money getting, that sort of stuff.

Party alignment is a leaning towards good, but some neutral in there.
>>
>>21906382
Generally good. And having just finished module B1 they're in the middle of module B4, so yeah fairly traditional.
>>
>>21906438
>>21906439
Cool. I'm up for dungeon crawling, monster dealing, and money getting.

How Good are we talkin'? Shoulder the burdens of the populace-type good, Raid dungeons with evil creatures-type good, Players have a town they're trying to protect-type good?
>>
>>21906422
STR 8 (-1)
INT 11
WIS 15 (+1)
DEX 14 (+1)
CON 12
CHA 11

Looks like a thief or halfling to me
>>
>>21906501
Could also be a Cleric with that wis, couldn't it?
>>
>>21906483
Generally a "helping those we come across and killing evil monsters" type of good. We don't go out of our way to do good to be rightly honest.
>>21906528
Definitely. Don't forget you can lower STR, INT, or WIS by two to put a single point in your Prime Stat. The lowest you can lower it is to nine however. So you could have a wis of 16 for a cleric, or a Dex of... Fucking eighteen. Wow.
>>
>>21904423
That dwarf looks like he's about to grab the undead from behind and start skull-fucking it through the neck-hole.
>>
>>21906483
Generally 'Raid dungeons, kill and loot evil creatures' type good, I think. Not everyone, but it looks to tend that way; they're raiding dungeons for the loot, but killing evil creatures is a nice bonus, and they've negotiated with monsters before and kept their word when it was given.
>>
>>21906586
Why do you think the arabian guy looks so terrified?
>>
>>21906590
Looting evil creatures?
You mean like keeping an army of skeletons, with which to do good?
Holy shit I want to take part in that.
>>
>>21906558
To expand: We help those we come across, but we don't go seeking others to help generally.

Basic run down is:
Thief - Help everyone
Cleric - Help people, genocide monsters
Fighter - Help people, kill monsters
Dwarf - Help everyone (I think, add splashes of dorf for good measure)

So generally, if someone asks for our help we'll help.
>>
>>21906716
Sounds about right, yeah.
>>
>>21906716
That seems like it'd detract a bit from dungeon crawling, monster dealing, and money getting.
Then again I suppose if the party's ALL good you're probably raiding evil places.
What alignment would a "Help the powerful and skillful" person be, if he neither goes out of his way to hurt nor help the lower classes?

We generally raid evil places, or good places taken over by evil and so such.
Doesn't actually detract, we get what isn't nailed down, kill the hostile monsters, get the non-hostile ones to tell us about the traps and treasures of the place, and try to survive.

That character sounds about neutral, maybe some leanings towards good or evil depending on which person you help.
>>
>>21906847
Well, nice, pleasant people generally don't live in dungeons, so not really that much of a problem, no.
>>
>>21906921
Party is powerful/skillful.
At least I assume they are if they've made it this far.
So help party = good?

Sure.

Q. Does the following character seem viable:
Halfling
Str 8
Int 9
Wis 9
Dex 18
Con 12
Cha 11
Also, is it possible to use a Shield with an Xbow? [Can Halfies even use heavy Xbows?]

I'm thinking I get the Dex 18 halfie, grab a shield and some plate, and be immune to damage forever.

No, can't use a shield with the crossbow as it uses both hands. And yeah, I think they need to use a light crossbow or a shortbow instead of a heavy crossbow or longbow
>>
>>21907003
They can use a heavy crossbows I think, yeah. Nothing that requires two hands though, so no polearms, two handed swords, and so such. Can't use a shield with a crossbow though.

Also, all it takes is one lucky twenty, trust me.
>>
>>21907041
Looks like it's a Shield, Splint mail, 12 Javelins, 6 Torches, and whatever remaining gp into food/water.
That's AC4 for Splint, AC3 for Shield, AC0 for Dex. (AC-2 for large creatures)
Javs are 1d6, and get +4 to hit with them (3 dex, 1 halfling)

>>
>>21907526

>>21907468
"Greetings." Alvaro gives quick introductions of the group to the two newcomers.

>>21907541
Dorfs get Infravision sixty feet, thirty more than lanterns or torches give light. So expect a lot of "What do your dorf eyes see?!" coming your way.
>>
>>21907560

>>
>>21907560
Halfling asks Alvaro:
Suppose you have a town with a graveyard, and it's about to be attacked by orcs.
Would you rather:
Raise an army of zombies from the graveyard to fight the orcs, leaving the townsfolk safe inside the town walls, or
Send the townsfolk out to fight the orcs, thus risking their lives, but leaving the dead at rest?
>>
>>21907606
Sounds good
>>
>>21907617
Halfling asks Angband:
What is best in life?
>>
>>21907615
"Odd question to ask... It all depends. Strategic use of oil might be more useful, or perhaps traps on such. Raising the dead townsfolk would be a last resort kind of thing, the dead deserve their rest."
>>
Anyway...
Room 54 has a secret passage leading up to the surface (not shown on map)
Room 52 is a pool of acid, and the party's already manaed to get the treasure out.

Room 51 is a bit temple. There are three fallen statues at the south, and there are four doors out as well as a 20 foot wide path north.

The higher levels haven't been fully explored, the secret passage is used as a shortcut down by the pyramid's inhabitants.
>>
>>21907656
>"Plumpbottom Pie!"
The dorf responds, slapping the Halflings ass before throwing down his tankard and heading to adventure.
>>
>>21907661
Checking out where the northern section of the temple leads sounds good to me. We can deal with the doors later. I'm guessing Jenai isn't with us, so no thieves in the party? Best be careful then.
>>
>>21907659
Halfling notes Alvaro's answer.
>>21907661
Halfling wishes to explore the upper levels, and asks whether this is acceptable to Alvaro and Angband.

Halfling asks Alvaro:
"What army would you rather have fighting for you: An army of 100 men, or an army of 300 orcs?"

>>21907691
Halfling notes this answer and feels slightly uncomfortable.
>>
Also, goddamn, I'm having a look over the archives right now, you guys have been running this for quite some time.

Angband'll take point, keeping ever alert for foul fiends and things which seek to interrupt his companions and their adventuring.
>>
>>21907731
Bullshit, I'll take point, I have AC0.
>>
>>21907731
Its been going on for a bit, but that doesn't mean much honestly. Only takes one blunder for us all to die and roll up new characters, after all. This is a relatively new dungeon anyway, and all the information about it is on the docs.
>>
>>21907750
The dorf is more that willing to allow his pint-sized companion to take point, providing a much more welcome view than several meters of empty corridor.
>>
>>21907776
Oh, so I'm a female Halfling?
Cool.

>>21907789
A plumpbottom is a plumpbottom.

>>21907710
"Odd questions... But I suppose I would prefer the army of 100 men. Can't see 300 orcs doing anything that even resembles tactics of anything besides being their numbers. Assuming they don't all try to kill each other." He shrugs.

This 100' by 120' room seems to be an entry hall. The ceiling is high and arched, supported by statues carved into the shapes of men and women, most likely kings and queens from the crowns carved on their heads. At the north end of the hall is a wide passageway with two stone doors fallen on the ground, half buried by the sand blocking the path out

There is a hatch near the northwest column

The walls are covered in frescos and mosaics depicting the history of Cynidicea (that's the lost city the pyramid's in, for you new guys)
>>
So you've got a forgetful cleric, a halfling with a thick ass, and a bisexual dwarf?

Things sure are looking interesting for tonights group. Thoughts/comments DM?
>>
>>21907828
Crown valuable or just stone?

Hatch near column: Drop a stone down it and see how far down it clatters.

I think this is the ground floor of the pyramid. Or, it was, before sand.

I still want to explore the upper areas since I don't feel safe this deep. :|
>>
>>21907826
"The followers of the three gods here, they're friends as far as I can tell although we haven't met the third group. You'll recognize them by their masks, which looks of their gods. One is a stern, bearded face. One is an androgynous face with snakes, not sure about the third though." Alvaro explains.
>>21907828
"Hm. Suppose we can't keep going ahead, although that hatch is an option." Alvaro spoke as he inspected the frescos and mosaics.
>>
>>21907856
Fourth floor is a death trap without a thief. Second room has a few rooms left unchecked we could look at. Third floor has a bunch of chapels in use, we could poke around there but I doubt they would appreciate it.
>>
>>21907865
Halfling learned not to attack masked men.

Halfling asks:
"In the upper floors, did you find much treasure? I think we should clear them first before heading deeper."

>>21907886
Second floor sounds good.

When you say Chapels in use, you mean by our friends, yes?

We could ask them if there's anything on the 3rd floor for us to do.

>>
>>21907894
"Not much, no. The followers still use those, so I wouldn't expect them to leave much lying around. The further we go down though, the more we'll run into enemy territory."

Yes, the chapels are used by the followers. We could, they did want us to bring back the letter. They would probably also appreciate us bringing his body back to them. Most of what they would want us to do though I imagine deals with dealing with the evil cultists, the crazed druggies, and the goblins.
>>
>>21907928
"Fourth floor is the tomb of their king, Alexander. They never go there, although that has to do with all the traps and undead which makes it too dangerous for them. I asked them about any dangers we should know."

Does the hatch have a handle to grab on that I could tie rope around?

What [Body]?
What [Druggies]?
Cultists and Goblins I assume are the usual "walk forward, kill moving objects, receive treasure" types.

>>21907948
Well, we need to explore a floor. I'm rolling 1d4+1 to see which floor to go to, if no other comments show up.
>>
>>21907962
Halfling thinks we can totally take on the Undead and Traps on the fourth floor.
>>
>>21907950
We have a lot of this information written down on the google docs under "Lost City."

Druggies are people who ate crushed purple lotus, went crazy. Possible to be rehabilitated into normal non-craziness or so the followers told us. The followers of the Knowledge goddess asked us to find a courier for them who got lost, he's dead, probably killed by the owlbear. They asked us to bring the letter back to them, I think if we give them his body as well they might like us better.
>>
>>21907980
Do we have Letter?

Also I see that level 3 is heavily trapped and also have friends that will stop being friends if we search it.

So that leaves Here (possibly a bit tough), Undead Burg, and the rest of Level 2.

Well, we gotta go somewhere. What's the fastest route to level 2, I suppose?
>>
>>21908027
If we don't have the letter we should get that first imo.
>>
>>21907828
Starting from the northwest corner, and proceeding counterclockwise...
A tribe of primitive humanoids worship a great lizard-like creature. They are attacked by a band of tall black-haired people, who drive them away and slay the creature.
The black haired people are living in a village surrounded by grazing sheep and cattle.
A strong looking man in a red cape leads the villagers in battle against invading snake-headed monsters, and wins a great victory
The man is crowned king. He carries a crook in one hand and a spear in the other.
On the site of the village the city of Cynidicea is built up. What was once arid scrubland is irrigated, and made into fertile fields. Their armies are shown winning great victories and bringing back treasures and slaves.
The birth of a prince is shown. The figures of the three gods of Cynidicea, a bearded man, a woman, and a winged child entwined with snakes, are shown looking from the skies above and blessing the infant.
As this prince grows, he is shows to be strong, clever, wise, and honourable. As king he is shown winning many victories, and is portrayed with dozens of defeated rulers kneeling before him.
He is shown gesturing towards a partially completed pyramid: clearly the one you are in now. Slaves are depicted digging the lower levels, and uncovering an ancient temple, where they look in awe and terror at a statue of a horned cyclopean creature, its torso a writing mass of feelers.
>>
>>21908027
We have the letter, the body was the one up the thread, with the fancy robe and mask.

I'm fine with searching the rest of level 2, be sure to avoid the room left of the Followers of Gorm though, its trapped with BEEEES! That, and they'd be angry because that's where they store their stuff. The follower's of Gorm's room is the two rooms at the bottom east of the second floor both with doors heading west and a hatch in the southern room.
>>
>>21908063
The great king and his wife are shown dying in bed. Crowds are shown weeping and mourning as they are brought into the pyramid. They are placed in sarcophaguses, and soldiers are show cutting their slaves' throats before opening their own bellies in the tomb.
The next image shows a man wearing a mask with a single eye and a horn ordering people to tear down the statues of the old gods of Cynidicea. With their destruction people don masks, drink, and revel in a mad carnival. These images slowly become more crude, and as they do so their subject matter becomes more disturbing, featuring people being tortured and torn apart by laughing crowds, strange creatures roaming the streets, and eventually barbarians looting the city above and slaughtering the inhabitants while masked men and women flee into the pyramids

>>21907856
Just stone. Opening the hatch you see stone handholds carved into the wall. It doesn't sound too far down, maybe 30 feet.
>>
>>21908065
If we help them clear out the place they'll pay us the treasure as a reward, yes?
Or, alternatively, are these strong and powerful people who, if we leave to their own devices with their own treasure, will likely fight effectively alongside us in future?
Now they're friends and I like that, but once we're done with this modul... er, I mean, Site of Ancient Evil, I'm wondering what will happen to them in the long term.

>A tribe of primitive humanoids worship a great lizard-like creature.
Dragons.
Also, the primitive humanoids - can I recognise them as any races I know of?
Same with the tall black haired people.

Room 12 and 11, don't go west of that unless you like face full of bees and angry priests.
The upper left portion of Room 6 should be good to explore though.
>>
>>21908164
I ask Alvaro what regions we were ordered to stay out of, owing to sacred / bees / sacred bees.
Where's the way up/down, and are there any puzzle components in any of the rooms?
Also, these are the people to bring the letter back to, right? I suppose I should do that.

I have Angband carry the corpse by its ... er, plump grabbable ass.

>>21908185
What about directly East of the stairs-looking thing?
Oh, I suppose I shouldn't cause trouble for its own sake. Northwest of room 6 it is.

But first: A corpse and a letter to deliver.
>>
>>21908211
You don't know the way up from this level. The easiest route would be to head out the secret tunnel to the surface, and then go down from the pyramid's entrance at the top
>>
>>21908226
Any risk of losing the corpse on the way?

Also, does Alvaro have a 10ft for disabling the swinging stone?
>>
>>21908211
East of the stairs would lead into that room I think, not sure how much you're able to go until it hits that room. I'd guess it just leads to a corridor into that room though.
>>21908247
Right now we're on floor five, we got in through a building on the surface, outside of the pyramid. If we want to return the letter and body, we have to go to floor three. Best to head out, to the top of the pyramid, and then down to floor three. It shouldn't be that much of a walk.
>>
>>21908247
No. But it was set off so recently that it's unlikely to have been reset
>>
>>21908247
Swinging stone is already disabled as far as I know. Jenai set it off, and unless they reset it while we were only gone for about a few hours, it should still be inert.

Okay. You head out the secret tunnel through the wine cellar, walk towards the great pyramid, climb the stairs to the top (where there are three bronze statues of the old gods of Cynidicea) and enter through a door in the side of the stairway. There's a passage leading to a room with three cylinders with doors in them, and entering one you find a ladder leading up and down
>>
>>21908338
I sense a trap.

What traps were here when the party first went through?
>>
>>21908164
Climbing down the ladder takes you to the central room of level 2 (room 6). The door northwest leads to unexplored areas, southwest to the stairs down
>>
>>21908349
Well, there was a pit trap and a dart trap, but the followers here don't know how to actually reset the traps so if its off there isn't much to worry about. Up leads to war golem thing, down leads to level two, room six.
>>
>>21908349
At the door in, a crossbow and a swinging stone linked to a pressure plate. Then actually entering the central room floods it with poison gas. Then opening any of the doors in the cylinders sets off another trap. But the party's already done that
>>
>>21908365
Alvaro.
You are PRIEST.
Do PRIEST things like talking about the dead guy and handing over the letter.
I'll do HALFLING things like asking what places we're allowed to go, where we're not allowed to go.
I will also ASSUME, but never outright question/state, that any loot we find in allowed area is free grabz so long as it's out of line of sight of any priest.

Okiedoke.
Drop off the letter and corpse, and have the DM draw red squiggles on the Lost City Tier 3 map that mean "If you go here, or if you take shit that isn't nailed down here, priests get angry at you".

That Rotate-o-corridor looks suss to me, but we can come back to it later.
>>
>>21908424
The rotating corridor leads to all of the chapels, and probably the way to the fourth floor. Fourth floor is the most dangerous though, due to traps and undead.

You head to the revolving corridor, and Alvaro remembers the button to press for the Magi of Usamigaras (the third one). There are several people in there wearing rainbow robes with silver masks, of a childlike face with snakes on the cheeks, facing each other. One of them, apparently the leader, has a small crown as part of the mask. "Hello Alvaro. I see you've found our runner. Tell me, did you recover his messages? Is the path safe again?"

>>21908424

Halfling asks the priests here if there are temples other than their one, and Gorm's one.
If so, how to get to them.

Halfling asks what the symbols mean since he can't read that language.

Halfling says the way is not clear yet, but we're working on it.

Halfling also says Hello.

... wait. Idea.

Halfling asks if these people have any spare soldiers or adventurers, for help clearing the way.
>>
>>21908507
Alvaro hands him the runner's messages. "Yes, this was what was on him. Seemed an owlbear got down there and was raising havoc, I assume that was what killed him. I'm pretty sure the path is safe, as we haven't found anything thing else down there that is hostile, but then we haven't found the route to the undercity yet either, so I can't say for certain." Alvaro explains. "Unless the way into the undercity is a hatch in the main temple, in which case yes. Only others we've met down there would be two siblings who claim they were trapped down there for years, wearing canine masks. Something was off about them though, so we chased them off. If what they said is true, surely one of you would of found them, or at least known of them."

"Yes, that's the way down. If it's only the owlbear that was the problem, then we should be able to get to the underground city and back easily. You have our gratitude."
"As for those two, you were right not to trust them. They can be useful, but their only loyalty is to themselves"

Oh and while going past, Angband spotted a secret door, just east of the stairs heading down here
>>
>>21908659
Halfling asks which letters mean which directions.
Halfling, when we're done talking here, will cautiously open the Secret Door.

Will we get a Random Encounter if we have Angband check the rest of Floor 2 to see if there are any new secret doors open up?
>>
>>21908685
You mean the already explored areas? No. The explored part of the corridor isn't too long, and the part in the west is the base of the magi and so doesn't have wandering monsters
>>
>>21908659
"Yes, we figured as much. I assume they're shapeshifters... At least I found shapeshifting magic on them, none the less. Along with some odd happenstances with them, such as the fox they claim to travel with." Alvaro shrugged.

I'm fine with checking out the secret door, although carefully. I really need to get me a 10 ft pole.

"They're with me. Alvaro and I're old friends, you know, killing stuff, not dying, righting wrongs, acquiring riches."

Halfling lowers the javelin without attacking, and introduces himself as whatever the default Halfling name is.
Halfling says he wants to help out the skilled and the powerful in hopes of not only getting helped in return, but also to maybe build a lasting, prosperous legacy with them somehow.
Halfling is neutral on the idea of the common masses. Won't go out of his way to either help or hurt them.

Halfling asks:
Are you a warlord or slave trader of some kind? I notice you've got two Goblins with you. They aren't your usual adventurin' buddies.
>>
>>21909329
Halfling talks to the goblins.

"Nah. I spared these two after a battle, some other goblins helped us build the tavern in return for their lives. They were basically raiders before. Now the difference is they make money from killing raiders and monsters, instead of by preying on the weak. I'm no slaver."

Gurx is somewhat skittish, hissing and hiding a ways back, but eventually grumbles about gold and pleasure being what he values, and how he seeks to be a goblin king. Yrin will gruffly ignore the halfling's speaking, and swat Gurx with the flat of her sword if he talks too much.

Jenai shrugs a bit. "I value a good life, using my skills to help wherever there needs to be some good done."
>>
>>21909421
So Jenai wants to save lives? I see.
Drogo asks Jenai:
If there's a sick family living in a farmstead, and you can't stay around to help them, would you rather give medicine to:

or 2 children who don't know how to farm?

Beyond the door is a corridor that after 30 feet comes to a T junction. To the left is a bronze statue of Usamigaras, with coins in its left hand and a wand in its right. To the right, a doorway blocked by a stone wall with a button on it
>>
>>21910117
I bugger with the statue in an attempt to reveal the obviously secret door behind it. E.g. by putting my 2 silver coins in the left hand, then removing them, or pulling the wand, or otherwise messing with it.

Ah, just realized I mistook the statue for a door on the map.
>>
>>21910140
The coins are part of the statue, not actual coins

You fiddle with the wand. The first thing you do is turn it left, which causes the statue to move backwards, down the corridor to the east. It ends up flush against the west end of the corridor, with the door to the quarters of the Magi to the south

The paper packets have black powder inside. Jenai recognises this as gunpowder

Holyshitholyshitholyshit it's fireworks
Um, don't tell the pixies. Like, at all.
One wayward spark and this entire place goes up in sparkly flames.

Also, Fireworks are more valuable weight-for-weight than food. Mostly due to the black powder. We should see if we can increase our loot stack by getting fireworks.
>>
>>21911189
The dwarf with his special appraising powers estimates that if the powder still works, a crate full of fireworks could get you 100gp

>They don't notice anything unusual about the jars or the ground under them
Spikes drop from the ceiling. Call it now.
>>
I just realised I didn't give the description for room 4, even though one of you said you were going in to check it earlier.

It's a 30 foot by 20 foot room, and there's a dead body on the ground. It's arm and the whole left side of its torso is swolen and discoloured, and there's a bee's stinger embedded into the body's left arm
>>
>>21912054
You can look at the ceiling if you want. You don't see any spikes, just a regular stone ceiling like elsewhere
>>
>>21912099
What's in the room near the sandy jars?
We'll check out Bee stinger room after. I need to go that way to get Sand anyway.
>>
>>21912099
We'll deal with him when we get this last room, and probably fiddle with these jars some. I'd rather leave them alone though.
>>
>>21912121
The floor of this 20 foot room is covered in a thick green sludge
>>
>>21912162
Stirge corpse -> Innasludge.

Anything visible in the sludge aside from ... sludge?
>>
>>21912187
Apart from the now rapidly dissolving stirge corpses? Nothing.
>>
>>21912162
Alvaro stares at the sludge for a bit, cautiously. "...May be slimes. Think we should leave, or should I toss some fire in?"
>>
>>21912201
So it's just an acid pit, no loot?
Well that's odd. I get the impression it's part of the clay jars.

>>21912231
Well, if you empty an oil flask into it, you can get an acid flask out of it.
<ooc: How much damage does acid flask do>

I let Alvaro try his stuff.
>>
>>21912261
Usually 1d8 damage, same as burning oil
>>
>>21912261
Alvaro takes a torch and lights it, then tossing it into the sludge.
>>
Rolled 2

>>21912295
Where the flame touches, the slime burns away. It recoils back from the fire, then starts moving for you

Roll for initiative
>>
Rolled 1 + 3

>>21912316
Knew it, I got a plan. Oil in door way, slime can't get to us, we kill it at our leisure.

Alvaro hands off another torch and his flint and steel to Ileen to get him to light it while he takes out a flask of oil.
>>
>>21912351
You go first
>>
Rolled 15

>>21912316
>>21912351
Drogo asks what he's meant to do. Do Javelins heal slimes?
>>
Rolled 2

>>21912387
If they don't, here's a cool 1d6.
>>
>>21912387
In the sense that the slime considers them food, yes. You have just lost one javelin
>>
>>21912414
Arse.

What am I meant to do? Ask Alvaro for his consent to steal an Oil flask from him?
>>
>>21912370
>>21912387
"Only fire hurts these things. I'd step back if I were you." Alvaro mentions to the halfling as he pours oil in the doorway. Ileen lights the torch and hands it to Alvaro, who then lights the oil. He steps back and hands the torch to Drogo. "Try throwing this at it."
>>
>>21912445
You do have torches on you...
>>
>>21912449
Oh dur I have torches.
5 of them.

Well I know what I'll be throwing for the rest of the rounds!

I guess Angband's on rear watch.
>>
>>21912455
Having successfully "Player is a noob"'d my first round, it now falls on Alvaro and AutoJenai to complete their first slime attack round.
>>
Rolled 9

The slime slowly moves towards you all
>>
>>21912490
Through the now ablaze doorway?
>>
Rolled 7

>>21912502
Ah right, you did light it up. In that case, all the fire around it kills the slime.

6XP each, with 3XP for retainers
>>
>>21912535
Alvaro nods. "Best not enter there unless you like burns, at least for a bit. Doubt there was anything of worth in there though." He shrugs.
>>
>>21912490
Has the next round s
>>21912535
VICTORY
Sand in the empty jars, yoink the full one, empty it out and see what it contains, check dead stinger guy for loot, head back to the priests to Rest imo.

Alvaro, you have a spare Cure Light. Using that on yourself or one of your dogs?
>>
>>21912558
That depends on if the rest before the midnight meeting gives me my spells back.
>>
>>21912558
There was nothing in the jar but sand. After you empty the sand out it contains nothing.

The dead man has 42gp and 5sp on him.

So, selling off the stuff?
>>
>>21912587
No, you'd already rested for spells this morning. I will let you add on your new spell when you level up though
>>
>>21912589
1700gp of gems
42.5gp of deadman
and ... 400gp of fireworks, maybe?
Sure, I'd say split the loot now.

When's next game session? I enjoyed this.

Also, what types of things can I buy while I'm inside the temple?
>>
>>21912589
Sure, although I'd like to keep a crate to give to our alchemist for them to look at. You can take that out of my share of money.
>>
Rolled 1

>>21912601
Ah, best save that spell then.

Time to roll for health for my shiny new level.
>>
>>21912632
Another fucking one. Goddammit.
>>
>>21912644
Ah well, I'm too happy about shiny new spells to be distracted by having low health.
>>
>>21912632
>>21912644
Roll it like you roll for initiative.
>>
>>21912609
Next game session is tomorrow afternoon, around the same time.

The Magi are willing to buy and sell goods from you, and you can buy anything, though some of it will require them to send a runner down to the undercity to pick it up for you

Only 2 of the boxes had working fireworks. So that's 200gp from that. In total, 1942.5gp. Split up everyone gets 353.4gp and retainers get 176.2gp. Remember that for each full gp of treasure you get, you earn one experience point.
>>
>>21912684
Gotcha. I'll take a hundred out of my share for the box of fireworks for the alchemist.
>>
>>21912684
Can I buy magi or some other combat assistant?
>>
>>21912708
Yeah you can get a retainer, the magi and brotherhood trust you enough to join with you.
They get half shares of experience and treasure. The Magi are thieves and magic users, and the Brotherhood of Gorm are fighters
>>
>>21912698
Your box contains 4 charges of flash powder, 6 roman candles, 3 rockets, and 9 strings of firecrackers
>>
>>21912708
So what class of character do you want to hire? Fighter, Thief, or Magic-User?
>>
>>21912745
Cool.
What spells would the Magi know? Can I ask them beforehand?
>>
>>21912776
Yes you can. They'd know two first level magic user spells
>>
>>21912759
Gotcha, added to the Honey Pot info.
>>
>>21912774
I'll think about it. I have at least until tomorrow to look at the 353.4gp and figure out what I want to buy with it.
I figure a Magic user that knows Tensor's Floating Disc, Sleep, or Read Languages would be helpful down here.
But if I only find out AFTER I hire them, then I might just end up with one that only knows Ventriloquism and Hold Portal
>>
>>21912806
Hey, don't knock hold portal.

Its good for when you find a creature you want to keep in a room instead of fighting them, or retreating.
>>
>>21912806
Echowinds, who couldn't play today because he had to study, had a magic user retainer who know those spells

>don't knock hold portal.
>>
>>21912833
Yes, but that's another player's retainer.
I can't take retainers from another player, I don't think.
>>
Also, I put the 25gp the Honey Pot would have made today into the fund for constructing the tavern. After it's completed, I'll just put the money into a Honey Pot Treasury. Unless you guys want the money to go into a treasury now instead of reinvesting it into actually building the place
>>
>>21912861
Can we add money currently to things, even though we're away from Mistamere?
>>
>>21912847
Yeah, that's a tricky issue. I think in most cases I'd allow it if there's nobody in the party with those skills at all. So I might let someone other than Echo take Vespin along if there's no other magic users, or Chuck or Gurx if there's no thieves, one of Rubyleaf's retainers if there's no cleric etc

>>21912890
Sure. I'll just assume you leave it with the Brotherhood or Magi and have the gold sent back with whoever returns to Mistamere next
>>
>>21912911
Alright, adding to the construction then.
>>
>>21912911
Also, it says in the notes you're doing something where players can copy each-others' spells?
If that's the case, wouldn't the magi down here know pretty much all the 1st level spells?
>>
>>21912953
Yeah, they would huh.
>>
>>21912911
>>21912953
Regardless, I'll read over the notes and save the advanced loot picture from
>>21906888
Then see if I can buy the usual adventuring gear.

Actually it was supposed to be this one.I posted the wrong image earlier
>>
>>21912959
>>21912953
I'd imagine they'd be loath to share the knowledge outside of their circle though.
>>
>>21912978
I should probably pick up a Mule.
No, not an actual mule, a Fighter with high str and con.
And a magic user that knows Sleep as one of its spells.
A cleric for healing would be handy
As would a thief for detecting stuff.
Okay that's gone way out of hand already. Scrap those ideas entirely.
>>
>>21913082
Lots of people like dogs. I'm thinking of limiting it to 2 dogs. And at higher levels, if, and it's a big if, I let you have a monster as a pet, you can only have one. If you capture a dragon as a mount they don't count towards the limit, as they'll always try to kill you and escape at the first sign of weakness
