"Ending TG!

It's as easy as one two three!

As simple as Do-Rei-Me!"

TG QUEST!

In the last thread, the Relentless and its escort forces pressed towards the center of the Sarajevo Radam Forest, but were beset by Tiberium Tekkamen. Joined by the Nadesico and its cargo of mecha, the forces of Kane were defeated, but at a cost. The Drone Ship was destroyed, alongside one Protoss Carrier, and the Hercules crashed to ground. With a massive space battle erupting in orbit over Earth, a portal-storm ravaging it, and a Super Portal opening in Europe, things are going to hell pretty damn fast.

What's the status of the psi-matrix, Tassaddar's fleet, and the local area above the Tib-Zone?
>>
And where are those Zerg heading and what is the composition of their fleet?

If we see Love Muffins, we're in trouble.
>>
>>22125573

Are there any NuChaos forces converging on Sarajevo right now? I doubt that Kane only had those squadrons of Tiberium Tekkamen to deal with intruders, unless they're being tied up elsewhere.
>>
I'm surprised nobody is paying much attention to the superportal.

That thing is going to dump a planetary invasion force of people who are very, very good at performing planetary invasions.

We should shut it down fast.
>>
>>22125573

Engineering teams, give us a quick breakdown of how long it would take to restore individually:

1) Engines
2) Defences
3) Creation Engine

"Standby, Captain Misumaru. We're getting a preliminary report from our repair teams first."
>>
>>22125835

Kane may still have whatever STOB parts or similar setups where he is right now. Stopping the superportal is a good idea, but so is stopping Kane and stabilizing space by presumably disarming whatever setup he has going on that allows him to so freely manipulate the bounds of reality.

The Psi-Matrix is fine.

Tassadar's Fleet will be engaging the Zerg in five minutes or so. The area above the Tib-Zone is clear.

>>22125682
Tassadar is intercepting them, they were heading for you. No Love Muffins that you can see.

>>22125758
Yes, the armored column is pressing on and making good progress towards the center of the Zone.

>>22125847
Two days, a day, and a week. It's not going anywhere for a while. Its crew is grabbing a Snickers.
>>
>>22125985

Tassadar, keep in mind this may not be the Zerg swarm you faced before. They may have unknown psychic or physical attacks. Recommend extreme caution until we can identify the strain.
>>
>>22125985

Then I believe it is not possible for us to remain with the Hercules.

I motion we leave a contingent of YVHs and Securitrons as well as a squadron of TIE/Ds as air cover before we continue with the Nadesico.
>>
>>22125985
We had some scarabs sent out earlier to collect materials. Are there any repair scarabs close enough to come fix it or at minimum, get it in the air.
>>
>>22126058
The damage exceeds that which the Scarabs can repair by themselves. Even getting it in the air would be an undertaking at this point, the vessel was almost obliterated.
>>
>>22126093

Equip the non-PA troops with what CRBN combat gear we have, even if it isn't Tib-rated, it'll help and everyone knows their BCW survival rules and Decon terms.

Plus we can't rules out Kane still having nukes or nerve gas. Make sure everyone has their Atropine and anti-convulsants, double standard (6 and 2 respectively)
>>
>>22126093

Well then our main force should follow the Nadesico. Time to bring the pain.
>>
>>22126252
This'll happen as soon as you decide how many droids/fighters you're leaving behind to cover the wreck, like >>22126052 said, or if you're keeping everyone and pressing on.
>>

>>22126052 Sounds decent. A ground contingent and some air cover.

Recommendation of our MARS-class AI and ANON?
>>
>>22126456
They recommend a single squadron of 12 D/Cs, with 24 Securitrons and 12 YVHs. That's enough to deter probing or hostile salvage attempts, and they do not believe you can afford to leave behind enough to ensure its security.
>>
>>22126627

Make it so.
>>
>>22126627

Do it.

Have the engineers concentrate on engines. Once it is repaired, we can respace it and repair/refit in safety.
>>
>>22126684

You guys think we should transfer some of our Transspace Lances over to the Nadesico's super robot crew? They'd help immensely in piercing AT fields, and would also help in a scrap with the avatars of the NuChaos rulers that may show up sooner or later.

You leave behind your engineers to start repairing it then.

The Relentless, the Nadesico, the Indefatigable, one Protoss Carrier and Arbiter, and the Mikasa form up again and continue along the melted and glassed path left by the rampaging of the New Chaos armored column. Along the way you note several sites where battle had clearly been joined, ruined EVA-Titans, destroyed tanks, and the corpses of slain Tib-Tekkamen everywhere.

In space, Tassadar engages the Zerg Swarm as the New Chaos battlegroup falls upon your own modest fleet. Pressed with your own struggles, your crews are barely aware of the multiple front space battle being fought between the Great Crusade, the Void Engineers, the Beast, and various other vessels that continue to appear courtesy of the rampant portal storm.

Aided by the Paradox cannon and the Armorfleet of Abaddons, the Oncoming Storm manages to weather the onslaught of New Chaos forces very well, with only a few losses to the EVE vessels, though damage is present on all your ships. Several times a concentrated effort is made to focus on the Storm with its deadly guns, but Pellaeon orders a shield wall of more heavily defended vessels around it, including the All Under Heaven. Taking mounting losses, the New Chaos fleet continues to pound away, unwilling to stop despite the way the battle is going.

Meanwhile, Tassadar's fleet has its own grueling slugging match with the Zerg Swarm. Despite having only a slight disadvantage in numbers and a large advantage in ship quality, several capital ships fall to Scourge bombings and focused Devourer/Mutalisk attacks. Though the mighty Protoss ships inflict considerable losses on the massed monsters, they are not nearly as bad as hoped, the Zerg showing the uncommonly good tactics indicating the presence of a controlling entity.

30 minutes pass with the space battle still raging as the Super Portal over Europe opens, disgorging a cloud of drop-pods that open into Striders, flying gunships, crab-like Assault Synths, and countless other biomechanical horrors that serve the Combine. The small force of Gundams and Mobile Armors sent there by the UEFA are swiftly overwhelmed as a large portion of the invasion force splits off and begins to head for Sarajevo. Word is relayed to you that in addition to some of the Great Crusade ground forces splitting off to engage the Combine, several synth-squads appear to freeze only to explode a moment later, and several strange mechs are sighted in the area fighting the invaders.

It is shortly after this before the clusters of Tiberium-infected Radam plants and overgrown buildings on either side of the 'path' begin to recede, revealing a scarred battleground with a fierce fight still in progress...

The center of the Radam Forest has been transformed into a barren wasteland, with many of the purple alien plants being torn, mangled, and burnt by the fighting. Two large tower-like structures are bent and twisted to either side of a third building, clearly wrecked beyond functioning. The third building looks extremely familiar, black and red architecture and the scorpion-tail insignia of NOD beside a large field of Tiberium. Other accompanying building sprawl from this central point, many in varying states of damage.

The remnants of New Chaos' ground assets wage a bloody war against the Tiberium Tekkamen and what looks to be conventional NOD forces aiding them, including several Gundams and Arm Slaves painted up in NOD colors.

We can just use our Heavy Turbolaser Batteries to fuck em up.
>>
>>22127627

Can't use turbolasers, the tiberium forests have been retooled to absorb energy from orbital blasts and redirect it. Nukes and other missiles could be shot down via AA batteries or shields, and I'm not sure if we have mass drivers that can fire from orbit. Although the Tiberium bombs are a real problem when it comes to collateral damage; we may have to assume that Kane has tweaked them to ensure that they'll be set off in case someone tries to use a WMD there.

We might have to deploy ground forces to break through the fighting and then deliver a strike team to the base.

It would be pretty ironic, but do recall that nuke is still on the Oncoming Storm last I checked.

I guess I'll post numbers/tac analysis while I wait for replies.

Your MARS AI calculates that there are 40 EVA-Titans active on the field with about 30 Superheavy tanks, the New Chaos version of Baneblades, supporting them. It looks like most of the other tanks were destroyed, though there is a significant New Chaos infantry presence all throughout the battlefield engaging NOD infantry. Opposing them are a group of 50-60 Tiberium Tekkamen, 14 NOD Arm Slaves, and 20 NOD Strike Daggers backed by what look to be 12 NOD Avatars. From the wreckage scattered around the battlefield, it is clear both sides had considerably more assets before engaging.

In addition, the four Obelisks of Light and SAM sites remain active around the Temple, though the remaining base defenses seem to have been destroyed by New Chaos.
>>
>>22127872
We need to take out the SAM sites since we're the only ones with air assets in this fight.

Can the Relentless target the SAM's and Obelisks with its turbolaser batteries?
>>
>>22127771
>We might have to deploy ground forces to break through the fighting and then deliver a strike team to the base.

MARS states this is probably the strategy with the highest chance of success.

>>22127865
You have a large ground force in the Protoss Carrier left to you, and the Protoss Fleet cannot break off at this time.

>>22127872
In addition, you see something strange. Anomalous in the NOD base, one building at its perimeter seems to have been overgrown with huge, black, twisted brambles.

You are also picking up several semi-permanent rifts in space-time opened around the base, probably due to the distortion waves.
>>
>>22127872

MLRS should fire a salvo at the Base Defences and the surrounding NOD forces.

We should concentrate on them. NC forces will die quickly once we fire our Anti-Chaos missiles.
>>
>>22127872
Also, now might be a good time to deploy the Baneblades, Von Luckners, and Mammoths, before the two sides turn their attention towards us.

>>22127935
Also deploy the Reavers.

We should also have the NOD and GDI MCV's with us. Could we deploy the GDI MCV and have it construct a repair facility?
>>
>>22127935
Is it still raining Holy Water here?
Or has the rain stopped?
That'll affect whether the New Chaos daemons and possessed troops are in the fight or not.
>>
>>22127935

>Huge, black, twisted brambles

Can't think of many people/factions that uses that. The only people I can think of are some faction from WH40k, Ravel, or possibly some sorta Old God from Warcraft.

Speaking of which, what/who should we include in our strike team?
>>
>>22127963
40 EVA-Titans are nothing to sneeze at, and they are unaffected by Aglaophotis Missiles.

>>22127935
MetaOP, are there any Archons or High Templars among the Protoss ground forces?
Hooking them into the Psi Matrix would be a better use of their abilities.
>>
>>22127992
It is not raining here, you passed through the raining area a bit ago, but the effect it had on New Chaos is fairly evident given their depleted numbers.

>>22127968
Sure. Just need to get it near one of the Tib Zones around the battlefield to supply it with cash.

>>22127963
>>22127968
You begin deploying ground forces. The process of doing so will take a little time, however. While you are doing that, the Nadesico begins launching its mecha force. You should be ready for combat in ten minutes or so.

>>22127909
It can.
>>
>>22127968

Might want to consult with the Nadesico and come up with a plan that involves their mecha forces. We'll need them to break through the fighting.

Might also want to see if we have an extremely long-range weapon we can use to get rid of those Obelisks, unless we have a lot of units that can zerg rush it.
>>
>>22128086

Transmit available data we have on the NOD and New Chaos forces to the Nadesico to pass on to their officers. They'll want to know what forces they'll be confronting.
>>
>>22128093

We should have them engage the EVA titans and Super heavies.
>>
>>22128086
>Just need to get it near one of the Tib Zones around the battlefield to supply it with cash.
Are either of the two sides harvesting the Tiberium?
If not, we could deploy one and have it begin building defenses.

We also have that Imperial Guard infantry command and bunkers. We could deploy them to bolster the MCV's defenses while it builds structures.
>>
>>22128086
No luck from the Photon Power Lab or the Void Engineers Antarctica base on finding the resonant frequency of Tiberium?
>>
>>22128081

>>22128070

>>
>>22128205

>>22128264
Nope.
>>
>>22128373
As the Reavers deploy, have the Archons and the High Templars integrate themselves with the Psi Matrix. Their experience with the Khala should make the process quite easy for them.

Deploy a GDI MCV, along with our bunkers, bolter turrets, and Infantry Command.
If it works, we get a repair facility we need, as well as Firestorm defenses.
If not, then at least we'll have distracted NOD's harvesting operation.
>>

Oh.

...oh.
>>
>>22128473
Well it's not gone YET, feel free to pitch in. Though at a year old, we're hardly new anymore.

>>22128455
All of the Templars/Archons? You have about 24 and 12.

Your forces locate a destroyed NOD refinery and unattended Tiberium patch and begin to head towards it.
>>
>>22128455

Here's a tentative list of what ground forces may be included in the assault. Feel free to correct if it is wrong.

Ground forces:
>GDI MCV to Construct forward base for repairs and such.
>All Baneblades, all Von Luckners, all Mammoth tanks.
>Protoss Reavers, some Archons.
>Mad Cat battlemechs.
>Gaia Gear Gundam.

I'm guessing that the Mad Cats will provide 'mech support for the vehicles as they advance. Are we leaving some vehicles behind to defend the MCV as it constructs buildings? Are we deploying Char with the Nadesico's forces?
>>
>>22128605
The Hyaku-Shiki is operational again, and the Tomahawk Destroids are operational as well. So those should be deployed.
There's also the Securitron Army that we completely replenished while we had the time; they won't do much against the EVA-Titans or Tekkamen, but they'll be able to handle the others.

All of our ground troops have power armor now, so they can be used to provide infantry support to the tanks.
>>
>>22128594
Is the Relentless and our deploying ground forces in range of the NOD Obelisks?

How are the Obelisks faring against the EVA-Titans' AT Fields?

If the Obelisks are cutting down the number of EVA-Titans we have to engage, then it might be better to keep them up for the time being.
>>
>>22128748
No they are not in range of the Obelisks.

The Obelisks so far are focusing on the Super Heavys, and they seem to do a good job of burning through the tank's armor through they take multiple hits to destroy.
>>
>>22128690

Revised list:

>GDI MCV for to construct repair base
> Baneblades (84) , Von Luckners (10), Mammoth tanks (35)
> Mad Cats (2) & Destroids (6)
> Gaia Gear Gundam w/ Lance of Longinus
> Hyaku Shiki
> Securitron Army (1000)
> Protoss Reavers (???) & Archons (???)

For base defense, I'd leave behind half of the Securitrons, ~5 Reavers, 2 Archons, 2 Von Luckners, 2 Destroids, 10 Mammoth Tanks, and 10 Baneblades. Char will zip across the battlefield to impale EVA-titans that attempt to approach the base.

We may also want to deploy Mecha Godzilla and Kiryu, since they're the only super robots that we have on hand right now. They are the only super robots that can cancel out AT fields due to their S2 engines, and can also use sheer force to break through them. We may want to deploy them with the main attack force, and use them to screen for EVA titans.
>>
>>22128843

>General tactics

Reavers and other armor assets will focus on ruining any conventional forces' day with long-range fire. As Destroids are artillery mecha at heart, they'll be advancing with the Reavers and rain hell on enemies from long range.

Hyaku Shiki & Gaia Gear will screen for Tiberium Tekkamen and other swift-moving assets.

Mecha Godzilla or Kiryu will advance as needed to break/cancel out the AT-field from EVA-titans and expose it to fire from conventional forces.

Mad Cats/Timberwolves will be flexible support. They will assist forces with screening or long-range fire support as needed.

Archons will screen for heavy forces that manage to weather the screen and engage up close. High Templars will cast a single hallucination on random armor forces to attract fire as they advance.
>>
>>22128819
Alright then. Our first priority will be to destroy the NOD SAM sites.

Have the Relentless lock in firing solutions on all of its turbolaser, heavy turbolaser, and ion cannon batteries onto the NOD SAM sites.

Destroids, being of limited mobility, and the Mad Cats should stay in the back to provide fire support.

SY-3 Squadron and the Mikasa will need to concentrate on the EVA-Titans.

Does the Psi Matrix believe that they can create a psi storm to take out the Tiberium Tekkamen?
>>
>>22129092

Wouldn't all the laser fire blow up any liquid tiberium stores that are present? We *did* detect a large presence of liquid tiberium underground at Sarajevo. Covering the entire continent in tiberium, as well as any/all friendly forces on hand, would be fairly problematic.
>>
>>22128819
Cheryl and the Psi Matrix touched the minds of the Tekkamen, and of the EVA-Titan pilots.
With Cheryl's boost to biomancy, how much more difficult would it be for the Psi Matrix to cause a burst blood vessel in the brains of the EVA-Titan pilots and the Tekkamen, rather than trying to twist their minds or stop their hearts?
>>
>>22129170
Not if the turbolasers and ion cannons are dialed down in their output.

ANON, what's the probability of the liquid Tiberium going off if we fire turbolasers at the SAM sites?
>>
>>22129092
Only if you fire on the Temple.

>>22129092
Psionic Storms can be used to weaken pockets of enemy resistance, but the only thing that might take out the Tekkamen like that would be Cheryl's Psi-Blowout coupled with a high roll.
>>
>>22129185
Cheryl won't be sure until she tries, the Tekkaman's physiology has been greatly altered and there's something odd about the EVA-Titans she can't put her finger on.
>>
>>22129185
>>22129425

She could also try to cause them to go to sleep or to become very very drowsy. Or try some sort of psionic inducing of uncontrollable muscle seizures.
>>
>>22129401
>Blowout
Could the Psi Matrix, with the addition of the Archons (who are pure psi energy) and the High Templars (who rival the Farseers in psi control), boost the power of Cheryl's Blowout to wipe out the EVA-Titans and the Tekkamen?

Or would it prove insufficient without a high roll, or it would drain Cheryl to the point where she won't be able to participate in the rest of this mission?
>>
>>22129540
It wouldn't drain Cheryl to that point, but nothing you do is going to one-shot the enemy forces here without a roll. Adding some Archons to the matrix would boost your chances, though.
>>
>>22129625
We can increase the chance of success by using a Bit of Luck reroll and Flash of Insight, as well as the Archons and High Templars to improve the roll.
Could the Spear of Destiny be used to improve Cheryl's chances?
>>
>Cheryl detects something odd about the EVA-Titans
Could they actually WANT Cheryl to use a blowout? Could they have prepared the Chaos wards in some way as to allow them to channel psi energy directed at them?
>>
>>22129822

Maybe, maybe not, but more than a few EVA pilots are talented psykers.

Or it might be the whole "EVAs aren't sapient" thing, but still have souls.
>>
>>22129778
Not in any way that I can think of.

>>22129822
Cheryl doesn't think it's that.
>>
>>22129625

Quick question, OP:

Could the psi-matrix amplify the archons to make them much more powerful than baseline archons?

Also, there were tiberium forests present when the Abbadon got destroyed by a reflected/amplified energy blast from the Tiberium forests. Before we pound the SAM sites with laser fire, perhaps we should test with a few low-power laser fire blasts from the Relentless to see if there are any such measures in effect here?
>>
>>22129851
I suppose it could, but it would a channeled effect. They wouldn't be able to do anything else while boosting the Archons.
>>
>>22129845
We have 2 Abjurers using the Flute of Accuracy and War Drums right now; about how big a sphere would you say that their effect extends now?
Could the range be extended by using the massive speakers that the Relentless has?
>>
>>22129912
I don't know that the Relentless has 'massive speakers' but you could simply link it over the comm channel and it should work.
>>
>>22129954
Then can we hook it into the entire comm-net, to provide the boost to the Nadesico contingent?
>>
>>22129971
I suppose you could.
>>
>>22130150
Do it, say that we thought some uplifting music would help.
And that they should see an increase in damage output of anywhere from 10% to 20%.

Also, we're within 2 miles of the NOD base and the fighting there, correct?
Does the Rodger Young think they can employ creative uses of teleportation mechanics to kneecap enemy forces?
>>
>>22130251
>>22130251
They report that it'll be tricky, but they'll willing to try.
>>
>>22130251
>>22130386

If teleporting in debris is tricky, then could they try teleporting out masses of earth/dirt to swamp enemy vehicles? I'm guessing that NOD tanks and baneblades are designed to handle many types of terrain, but falling headfirst into a 90º incline is probably not something that many tanks/vehicles can recover from very quickyl.
>>

This is why we don't like starting the fights anymore. Because of shit like this.

Have the MCV begin construction of a Tiberium refinery, Power Plant, and a Barracks as soon as its in position, so that we can get started on a War Factory.

Have the Infantry Command, Bunkers, and Bolter Turrets set up to protect the Construction Yard while it constructs its defenses.

While the Relentless gets ready to take out the SAM sites, have the Indefatigable begin locking on to Tekkamen and EVA-Titans with a full-spread of photon torpedoes. Dial the warheads down, to about .75 kilotons, so as to not set off the liquid Tiberium.

Have the M270 MLRS set up and prepare to launch Steel Rain missiles and Aglaophotis Missiles in tandem.

MechaGodzilla and Kiryu, prepare to nullify AT Fields, if the EVA-Titans attack us, and use your AT Fields to grab Tekkamen out of the air if they come at us.

The moment your MCV is halfway to the Tiberium field, two of the EVA-Titans turn and begin firing long range salvos at the vehicle and its escort. The MCV takes heavy damage, and the 2 Von Luckners are destroyed, along with a formation of 100 Securitrons. Char in the Gaia Gear along with the repaired Hyaku Shiki zoom over to engage those Titans as the tanks begin attempting to close range for retaliation.

>>22129851
You fire a few blasts from the Relentless' turbolasers, but they seem to hit some sort of field around the SAM sites that bends the energy bolts into the ground beside them.

"A distortion field!" Yurika exclaims from aboard the Nadesico. "They've put them in their turrets?"

The SAM sites react by deploying from their underground emplacements and firing a salvo of missiles at the Relentless. The missiles impact harmlessly on the Victory-II's shields, though.

With this assault on your detachment, your main forces request permission to engage.
>>
>>22131080

Main forces, engage. Keep up communications with the Nadesico & associated forces in case they discover something that we need to do quick, or want to try some sort of combo attack.
>>

Main forces are to engage, make sure to not get too far ahead that we can't provide support.

Reavers, begin moving forward and use Scarabs to cover the main force's advance.
Try to target the SAM's with the Scarabs.

Mikasa and SY-3 squadron, provide aerial artillery support.

M270's launch missiles.

Al'Kesh 1, 3, 5, 6, use transporters to beam out a 20 foot by 10 foot by 20 foot deep block of soil from out of the front treads of enemy superheavies.

Indefatigable, fire that spread of torpedoes, then engage your phase cloaking field to move to a new position.

Deploy a second GDI MCV to support the first one.

Your SY-3 squadron flies past the EVA-Titans near the tib-zone, firing barrage after barrage of missiles and lasers at them until their AT-Fields fail, your force of Mammoths and Baneblades now in range finishing them off.

Your MCV trundles up next to the field and unpacks, immediately going to work on setting up a field base while combat engineers begin setting up your bolter turrets and bunkers.

Your Aglaophotis rain in conjuction with the conventional munitions manages to wipe out a nearby detachment of New Chaos infantry as the Relentless successfully manages to destroy a pair of EVA-Titans with its turbolasers.

Two of your Al'Keshes report their transporter beams are malfunctioning and causing a chain reaction on their onboard systems. They are returning to the ship for emergency repairs. The rest report other various malfunctions, except for one which manages to trap a Superheavy as described.

A few proton torpedoes hit the EVA Titans, but the Tekkamen just fly out of the way of the munitions. The Indefatigable's torpedoes manage to annihilate the supporting vehicles and infantry around one of the areas being fought over by EVAs and Tekkamen, but fails to destroy any of the primary targets.
>>

>Two of your Al'Keshes report their transporter beams are malfunctioning
Consider Al'Kesh 1 and 3 out of the fight.
Other Al'Kesh, pull back for now.

SY-3 Squadron and Mikasa, continue with long-range bombardment. Mikasa, see if you can catch any of the Tiberium Tekkamen with your Absolute Zero Cannon.

MechaGodzilla and Kiryu, prepare to fly to the aid of our ground forces when they meet with heavy EVA-Titan resistance.

Have Aeshma provide Cheryl and the Psi Matrix with a Bit of Luck reroll.
Have the Archons and High Templars integrated into the Psi Matrix?
Does Cheryl think she can use Biomancy to hack the eyes of the Tekkamen, and snip their optic nerves?
Otherwise, a Psi Storm to wipe out some of the Tekkamen might be in order.

I MS Painted up a map to give you a general idea of how the forces are dispersed if it helps. NOD/Chaos insignias represent battalions of infantry and tanks, and the rest should be self explanatory. The Arm Slaves aren't pictured because they're scattered around using cloaking to perform guerrilla attacks.
>>
>>22131883
This is actually pretty helpful.

Also, the information about the Arm Slaves being equipped with active camo is pretty important.
We'll need to either build a GDI Command Post and use its Radar Scan power to cut through the stealth, or send out some Observers.
>>
>>22131858
Cheryl doesn't think she can target all the Tekkamen at once, no. One group at a time should work.

ANON, are the SAM sites Second or Third Tiberium War models? That should tell us the version if the Obelisks being used.

Also, if we destroy the SAM sites and the northern Obelisk, could we get the Rodger Young to cloak and take a Hero Strike Team around the edge of the battlefield and insert units through the weakly defended northern perimeter of Temple Prime?
All of our Heroes except Seifer and Fujin either have Sylphie's environmental protection charm or hard suits on (with Shephard having his own hazardous environment equipment). Also, a short range teleport from the Rodger Young to inside the Temple will mean no exposure to Tiberium.

However, that black-brambles building is concerning. Maybe we should send a probe droid or two into it to see what it's deal is.
>>
>>22135089

Should we check if the Nadesico has any heroes that they'd like to include on our strike team? I know they're mostly mecha and they'll be tying up the forces outside while our strike team does their thing, but it never hurts to have some extra feet on the ground.
>>
>>22136733
I doubt it, because the ones who might be helpful to us on the ground are more useful in their mechs. The Uruz Team, for example, are highly skilled operators, but Sagara's the only one who can use the Lambda Drive, which is a pure machine AT Field-equivalent and pretty much absolutely necessary against the EVA-Titans and Tekkamen.

Now, in the anime, Distortion Fields had one weakness; they're not as effective in blocking physical matter as they are energy and gravity weapons. Since the NOD SAM's are protected by Distortion Fields, we could attempt taking them out using proton torpedoes from the TIE-D/C's, or by setting a photon torpedo to burrow through the ground and come up inside of the Distortion Field before detonating.

A third option is to have a more detailed scan of the ground done by the Indefatigable, to identify where the liquid Tiberium is being stored. We could use a photon torpedo as a form of anti-matter mining charge, like what Teller wanted to use hydrogen bombs for, to basically create an underground pocket that the SAM's will fall into.
>>
>>22131883
We might want to see if Kane also put up a distortion field generator to protect his base. Let's have the Relentless fire a single turbolaser battery at the NOD manufacturing facilities.

We know that the Tekkamen have a weakness to sound pulses.
We also know that the MCV's we have are from the beginning of the Third Tiberium War, or just before.
MetaOP, can we get the resonant frequency of Tiberium used by GDI to control and destroy Tiberium during their years of containment and cleaning up Yellow Zones?

"...and get lost in the middle of a fight," one of the cats pipes up.

"Shut up, you."
>>
>>22142797
Have Al'Kesh 5 take up a Probe Droid Squad and VP-99, cloak, then fly around the far eastern part of the battlefield to avoid all of the fighting, and deposit the droids on the northern side of the brambled building. VP-99 and the droids are to take a closer look at the building and see what's up with it.

For right now, have Masaki and the Cybuster stick with the main force.

And have the Indefatigable scan the ground around and under the SAM's; does it detect liquid Tiberium nearby? We can't use a burrowing photon torpedo if there is.

And identify the NOD Construction Yard and War Factory. Have the Relentless prepare a full heavy turbolaser bombardment. Be careful when destroying the structures that we don't fire too deeply into the underground sections. Fire a single volley only.
>>
>>22142797
>>22142992
Also, have Aeshma give Cheryl and the Psi Matrix a bit of luck, and have them use a Psi Storm on the closest Tekkamen group.

Have the main forces begin moving forward towards the closest group of NC and NOD forces fighting each other. Have the VF-25 Squadron, TIE Defender Squadron, X-Wing Squadron, Jack Archer, Masaki in the Cybuster, SY-3 and Mikasa, and additional turbolaser battery support from the Relentless provide airstrike support. Char and the Hyaku-Shiki also provide support.
MadCats and Tomahawks provide long-range fire support.

Also, order to the Mobile Infantry: all weapons free. Nuclear weapon deployment authorized.

Any unit that gets damaged down to 60%, immediately break off and return to the Relentless for repairs.

Alicia and Lavian should probably pick up a pair of Transpace Lances, in case they face incorporeal enemies inside the Temple. They won't be able to use their Break abilities, but that's what the Orange II's are for.

Should we take along a KI Tactical Squad and a KI Devastator Squad? We don't want to send in too many forces, but we also don't want to be short-handed.

IIRC VP-99 is still being repaired, so VP-98 subs in.

Though the Al'Kesh gets detected at one point and takes some light missile fire, it is able to drop off the probe droids near the brambled building. They float around for a while and report that a single tunnel just large enough for a few people allows entry into the mass of brambles and thorns. Their sensors cannot pierce it otherwise.

The Relentless begins bombarding the NOD base, annihilating the Construction Yard and War Factory with a single volley. This act garners it more attention, however, and several Tekkamen begin targeting it, Voltekka beams crashing against the mighty vessel's shields. Said shields hold, but are dropping dangerously low from the concentrated assault.

Cheryl and the Psi-Matrix manage to unleash a particular potent Psionic Storm that wipes out both the New Chaos and NOD forces clustered nearby at the southernmost point. Only a handful of Tekkamen and all of the EVA-Titans survive the onslaught.

(cont.)
>>
>>22144281
Into the chaos created by the psionic storm rolls your Mammoths and Baneblades, supported by a few Reavers. Magnetic scarabs swarm around the knee joints of one EVA-Titan and detonate, causing the immense machine to buckle and fall, while massed railgun fire from the Mammoths manages to take out another.

Kiryu and Mechagodzilla lead the charge, nullifying AT-Fields and delivering devastating blows with colossal claws and fangs. Point blank beam breath scores another pair of kills for the mecha-kaiju as their armor absorbs plasma blast, laser fire, claws, and more. Occasionally a hit from a Lance of Longinus slips past their defenses and damages them, but they hold firm.

From long range, Tomahawk and Mad Cat fire softens up portions of enemy armor, allowing Jack Archer to soar by and fire a missile salvo at one Titan. The Titan turns futilely to track Jack, but this leaves open for a double attack by the Gaia Gear and the Hyaku Shiki. As that Titan falls, Masaki zips by with bared blade, slicing a Tekkaman in two.

After all is said and done, the southernmost group is destroyed with very few losses.

Although the Arm Slaves have the advantage of surprise, the heavy armor of the Mammoths and the Baneblades serves them well. Only a single Mammoth goes up in flames while two Baneblades succumb to a coordinated assault of shoulder-mounted mecha-scale laser cannon. Damage is taken, but the return fire from the Mammoths and Baneblades tears apart a full half of the enemy forces before they disperse and flee using their active camouflage. The EVA-Titans turn towards the lone remaining Arbiter in the skies and fire immense beams of energy at the support craft. Gout after gout of destructive power hammers the delicate-looking construction of gold and crystal until its shields give way and the Arbiter explodes. The Nadesico accelerates suddenly, firing a cloud of missiles that impact all around the EVA-Titans and Tekkamen in front of them. This does little damage by itself, but it covers the first line of mechs as they close to melee.

"I won't allow the Radam to rise again! Tek Lancer!"

"It's time to sink or swim! Twin Lancer!"

"TEN-KUUUU-KEN!!!"

"This'll finish you! DANCOUKEN!"

Voltes, Combattler and Dancougar catch an EVA-Titan in the middle of a triple attack, four blades simultaneously crashing against its AT-Field and cutting into its armor. The EVA-Titan only manages to get a single shot off that burns into Dancougar's armor before it is destroyed.

"Heh! It'll take more than take to take down Dancougar!"

Tekkaman Blade backed by the SPT squadron engages the Tib Tekkamen, nimbly evading Voltekka and Tiberium Lance alike while cutting into their forces.

"Uruz Seven.Engaging."

The MITHRIL special operations team bursts from hiding, active camouflage disengaging as it flanks an EVA-Titan that was about to open fire on the Nadesico. Caught by surprise, the mammoth machine deflects shot after shot from Kurz and Mao, no longer bothering with evasives as the conventional weapons bounce off the AT-Field. This proves a fatal mistake, because it discounts the Arbalest closing to point blank and firing its shotgun into the machine's cockpit area. Powered by the Lambda Drive, the projective pierce AT-Field, armor, flesh, and pilot, the mecha crumpling to the ground as the Uruz team vanishes back into the battle.

The Relentless targets a group of enemy EVA-Titans and fires as many concussion missiles as it can at the bio-organic monstrosities. By itself the heavy barrage batters but does not destroy them, but when nuclear explosions begin rocking the battlefield as the MI unload their Y-racks, some begin to fall. However, the orders for the MI to deploy are not without cost. Several fall victim to the lightning fast movements and blades of the Tiberium Tekkamen while jumping across the battlefield crying havoc.
>6 Mobile Infantry slain.

With more than adequate fire support, your column of tanks begins to advance, chewing through the softened enemy, but suffering mounting losses as the foe begins to focus on them.
>Lose 4 Mammoths
>Lose 2 Baneblades.

Across the battlefield, most of the Tekkamen begin withdrawing from battle against the New Chaos troops and assaulting yours. A squad of six circles the Mikasa and pounds the vessel with Voltekka fire. The sturdy vessel has holes burned it in in several places, but keeps flying. Its captain reports heavy damage, however.

Without Tekkaman support, the Nod Avatars and Gundams are quickly overwhelmed by the remaining New Chaos EVA-Titans. The Nod infantry struggle to hold the line.

Without the Avatars, the northwest battalion of New Chaos troops begins moving to engage the remaining Nod ground forces in front of the temple, several APCs disgorging large groups of troops to confront them, while a few stay behind to attempt to breach into the temple.

A platoon of bronze armored, muscle bound amazonian demons charges into your infantry line, sending Securitrons flying as your robots try to hold the line against the demonic foe as the New Chaos infantry clashes with your own, having advanced while your assets were busy with the larger threats. Though wounded by holy rain and war, the remains of the demons and possessed troops of New Chaos are still potent, cutting an oily swath through your robots.
>Lose 50 Securitrons.

As Cybuster swoops down and transforms into a burning phoenix to execute an Akashic Buster to cleave through a nearby EVA-Titan, a familiar voice crackles to life across the communications channels as Kane appears on your viewscreen.

"Commanders! It seems I am in your debt. Here I was fretting and frowning over where to find the final piece needed for my wonderful little device, and you arrive on my doorstep to not only rid me of my enemies, but deliver me the final component yourself. I thank you, from the bottom of my heart."

With that, a large number of Tekkamen from the forces engaging you suddenly split off and latch onto Cybuster, stabbing into the mech and blasting it with low-level energy beams at point blank range.

"Whoa! Hey, what-" Masaki yells as he comes under attack. The legendary speed of the Masoukishin is able to evade blow after blow, but the sheer number wear it down until its power drops. "Cybuster! Move, dammit!"
>>
>>22148360

Masaki, don't do anything silly. Cyflash doesn't work on earth.

Cheryl, Blowout. Centered on Cybuster.

The combined force of the Tekkamen begins to force him towards the Temple of Nod. The 'tower' of the temple unfolds, and where there would normally be storage space for a nuclear missile is instead a huge amalgamation of machines attached to a bound giant, the upper torso of a mecha with wings folded across its head. Its arms are folded outward to make a sort of "throne", while the unmistakeable profile of a STOB forms the seat. Towards this bizarre device the Tekkamen carry the captured Cybuster, seating it in the throne as Masaki continues screaming over the communication channels. The tower begins to fold back on itself as the device lowers back into the depths of the temple.

Your MARS-class AI informs you that at this time the Tekkamen have been reduced to 20, and that there are about the same number of EVA-Titans and Superheavys left after all the fighting.

"OK, I'll ju- DAMN!" Cheryl curses. She looks at you with wide eyes. "I- I'm sorry! There were just too fast!!!"

If the situation with Cybuster wasn't bad enough, your Psi-Matrix reports a power surge of psychic energy from some of the EVA-Titans. A maelstorm of Warp energy erupts over your armored column, tearing apart a full twenty baneblades caught in the blast.

>Lose 20 Baneblades.

"What the hell?! They're magic now?!" Jack curses as he barely pulls his VF away from the swirling madness.

Your forces are not the only ones to suffer a pounding. Though superior training, talent, and machines allow them to prevail, the Nadesico team's losses begin to mount.

"The last of the Brains have been shot down," Ruri reports. "Voltes is reporting heavy damage and the SPT squadron is retreating with heavy damage except for Eiji. In addition-"

"Shit! I can't believe it! I can't lose like this!"

"Chibodee, shut up and- GAAAA!!!"

"Rain, grab Chibodee and George and fall back! The rest of us can handle this!"

"...in addition, the Shuffle Alliance has been defeated except for Domon."
>>
>>22148608

Mmm...

I have a plan but you guys are not going to like it and I don't see how we can force our way through easily.

We evac all non-essential personnel off the Relentless and load all ground troops + small mecha.

We then use her as a battering ram into the temple.
>>
>>22148597
"I'm trying, but it's not responding to my commands! It's like something is fighting me for control!!!" Masaki shouts.

>>22148608
As the Nadesico's forces break through the first line of the enemy defense, they regroup, reforming to get fresh machines and pilots at the front.

"We'll have to kick it up a notch," Yurika nods. "Prepare the Phase Transition Cannon! We'll soften up the next batch so we don't get hammered so hard!"

>The Nadesico is engaging a group of 10 EVA Titans and 5 Tekkamen, keeping them occupied.

The Crossbone Vanguard launches an assault of the presidential residence of the Jupiter Empire.

Outnumbered 40 to 1, the CV blows a hole in the defence line and uses their mothership to crash into the enemy HQ, breaking through the lines to deliver ground troops.

That'll it'll also seriously fuck up whatever Kane was building is a big plus since I don't think even he expects us to use a Capital Ship as a battering ram.

>>22148913

It is insane. It is crazy.

Exactly why Kane will not expect this shit since we're on our way to breaking through and the safe path would be to keep at it and slowly advance, giving him the time he needs for his device.

If we win, we can salvage the Relentless. If it activates, it'll be lost anyways.

Prep the Relentless' batteries to fire on any barrier she runs into, or when we breakthrough, to fire all guns in all directions. Fuck up everything before we offload troops.

Open comm line to the Nadesico. Inform her of the plan. She can follow us in or take advantage of the confusion.

Make sure all Relentless' backups are in place with the other ships of our fleet.

The Nadesico's Phase Transition Cannon fires, wiping out a nice large chunk of the New Chaos forces as her mecha teams surge forward. What remains of the Nod infantry and the New Chaos infantry make desperate breaks for the Temple.

Your own forces suffer losses, but manage to keep anyone from engaging your regrouping infantry or the Relentless as it prepares.

Voltekkas, missiles, laser beams, all slam into the hull of the Relentless, its shield stripped away by the sheer torrent of firepower directed at it as every Tekkamen and EVA Titan drops what they're doing to fire on the gigantic vessel.

Several previous hidden squads of Tekkamen, no doubt part of some scheme of Kane's appear from the Radam plants along the battlefield's edge to add their firepower to the mix.

Torrents of liquified metal slide off the sides of the side, holes are bored through it, explosions ripple along its sides...

It isn't enough.

The Relentless, true to its name, advances despite the resources of both armies directed at it. The triangular hull of the vessel crashes into the Temple and penetrates into the underground complex below. As the great vessel shudders and loses power, coming to its final resting place, a final panicked transmission comes from Kane.

"You fools! You hit the device! It's spinning out of control! I can't-"

The rest is lost as a multicolor swirl of energy blooms from the center of the ruined temple, swallowing the temple, the battlefield, the WORLD whole.

The last sound you hear is the delighted shriek of an old woman.

"Ah heh heh heh... NOW things are getting interesting!" she exults. "Wake up, child. Be born again."

You are awake again... but not.

You are aware would be the better term. Thoughts sluggishly return to your minds, or mind. Slowly you realize that you are hearing thoughts not your own. The thoughts of your fellows in the command crew.

You try to clench a hand and cannot. There is no hand to clench. For a moment your thoughts race to the strange state the G-man put you in, but this is different. Then you were bound to a body. You are not so now.

But like the awakening of muscles you didn't know you have, you slowly begin to feel twinges of something, some bodiless means of manipulation. You feel you can subtly alter things, though you are not yet sure how. You feel tendrils of your being probing, searching for something...

Well, we are (or were) in contact with some very powerful individuals for a very long time, so that to breed the potential for that kind of thing, am I right? I mean think about it; would these heroes that we are allied with just obey our orders without question? Even with a sword hanging over their heads, wouldn't most of the hero characters would have been inclined to the idea of laying waste to the Transpace Guard? Not to mention the organization is known to brainwash Heroes and Squads into accepting allegiance with the TG; who's to say that hasn't happened and we weren't aware of it? Would the heroes or squads be aware of it? Even ignoring that (as there are heroes we have recruited who would have happily joined up of their own free will (remember, we stole a lot of these guys from their homeworlds, or even from their deaths), there's still the issue of not going against orders, always making suggestions up the chain of command, never showing initiative on their own except to offer advice; ie, the act like RPG characters. But most of all, the main reason is because we wear hats, and only villains wear hats, so there.

...interesting. You'll see soon enough.

>>22149883
Vision returns to you slowly until you see a group of the Task Force's troops sprawled out on bare dirt. Around them twist walls of black thorns and brambles, and past those walls is a vast abyss of cascading colors. Looking upon those endless waves of energy and multicolored swirls seems to pull on something deep within you. You have difficultly looking away, but manage to do so.

Scattered on the ground are the hulking forms of Space Marines, the slim form of Finalon, the eternally frumpled suit of Holtz... You remember cleanly pulling these people to you, though you are not sure why.

They begin to stir.

"Are we dead?" Holtz mumbles, waking up with a frown, shaking his head and reaching inside his suit for his flask. He takes a long drink, then sputters as the flask is yanked from his hand by Kitsune. She quaffs down a large amount of the stuff, then grins.

"Doesn't taste like it," she says. Holtz growls and grabs the flask back.

"Great. It'll taste like traitor cooties now," he mumbles. Kitsune sticks her tongue out at him.

"Brethren! Status report!" one of the Space Marines calls out.
>>
>>22149991

"Did we fuck up, Holtz?"
>>
>>22149991
"Communications are down," one Knight Inductor says. "Unable to establish a link with Captain Fortes."

"Fantastic," Holtz says, cricking his neck and standing.

"Feel like I got thrown through a giant washing machine," Jack complains, taking off his helmet, scratching his head and putting the helmet back on. He frowns and pulls out a small sidearm from a holster at his side. "Ugh. I prefer my guns much larger... and aimed from within a Veritech."

"Where's Agrias? Where's everyone else?" Mustadio asks, looking around. Kanako just stares into the swirling colors beyond the thorn walls. Pellaeon straightens and dusts off his uniform.

"Well, men. The first thing to do is establish who's in command."
>>
>>22150071
"GAH!" Holtz shouts, jumping a foot off the ground as he looks around. "Kid, don't... wait, where the hell are you?"

"Some of the Command Crew made it?" Pellaeon asks, looking around the area with a frown. "Are you... trapped in the thorn walls perhaps?"
>>
>>22150087
I AM!

Then manifest a totally awesome Spiral Power body.
>>
>>22150087
Let's do a rock-paper-scissors thing between Holtz and Pellaeon to decide who'll be on top for the ground ops.

That or Holtz pulls out experience from doing ground action.
>>
>>22150087

I guess you're it, Grand Admiral. It'll be just like Grand Admiral Thawn's 'exercises'.
>>
>>22150105
"If you are, I ain't seeing it," Holtz says, dryly.

>>22150110
>>22150114
"Considering you seem to be alive, it would still be you as long as I'm under your employ. Unless you're ceding command to me for this," Pellaeon says. "But... where are you? We can hear your voices, but I can't see where you are."
>>
>>22150142

The command crew were never fully in this reality since the start. Perhaps we were removed another step? Egon might have an idea but trans-dimensional quantum physics was never my strength.

If it is such a case, field command is yours, Grand Admiral. Exactly what we can do or influence here is unknown, after all.
>>
>>22150200
"I... see," Pellaeon says.

"So what, you're all disembodied voices now?" Kitsune says. "Weird."

"So they're, what, ghosts?" a Zombie Hunter asks.

"Their nature is irrelevant. An assessment of their abilities would be more helpful right now," a space marine booms.

"But right now, the more important thing is figuring out where we are," Pellaeon says, pointing. "The halls seem to lead that way. Space marines in front, Confederates rear guard. All else in the middle. Stay alert."
>>
>>22150263
Is our perspective locked in to where Team 6 is located? Or can we move ahead of them?

Zombie Hunters, check your Exographic Scanners, see if they can penetrate the walls.
>>
>>22150263
Those who had been your troops move slowly, cautiously as they follow the dirt path before them, walls of hulking thorn-vine to either side and an infinite abyss beyond. It doesn't take long, before the group comes to a sort of antechamber, a dome of twisted thorns with a single crudely woven door at the end.

"Thorns here, thorns there, I can't say much for this place's decor," Kitsune grumbles, her arms behind her head.

"Bitch bitch bitch," Holtz says, rolling his eyes. "You make me seem optimistic, and I once chewed a captain out for twenty minutes straight with a single sentence."

"Wow," Jack whistles.

"Well to be fair, it was a run-on sentence," Holtz shrugs.

"Should we attempt to open it normally or breach it?" a Knight Inductor asks. "I don't trust doors made of sorcerous plant."
>>
>>22150329
With a little bit of experimentation, you find that your perspective is linked to what your team sees. You can only see what they see, but you can do so from different angles and move your vision around them freely.

"Scanners can't..." one of the Hunters begins to say. "Wait. Wait, at this range it can barely penetrate, but there's a big chamber on the other end of this. Picking up one lifesign, but can't make out what it is. It's humanoid, though."
>>
>>22150343
>>22150363
Alright. Space Marine, try to open that door.
>>
>>22150377
I think that's the Grand Admiral's order to give, since we ceded command for the time being...ish.
Still, not a bad idea. If it's hostile, having the most heavily armored troops being the first ones through the door couldn't hurt.

The Knights Inductor enter to find a room devoid of anything but columns of thorns, dirt, and a plump, little old woman with a large nose, red eyes, and gray skin.

"That I was, little thing," she rasps. "Waiting was I, to see how this mystery would unfold, but never I thought you'd end up in my lap. You poor, sad, broken half-thing... Mayhap I draw your type to me. You are not the first one to come before me all a-pieces... and not the first to come to me dragging others bound to your hell with you. The crone laughs harshly before speaking.

"I? Ravel am I, a maker and breaker of puzzles, a solver of what *cannot* be solved, a mind raveling and unraveling until the threads of thought are tied up like knots in a drunken man's hair. It is enough, enough it is. I am but a woman who has sorely... soarly? Soarly missed her beloved creation. Some have named me crone, gray lady, Yaga sister, night hag -- but MYSELF is my name, Ravel, Ravel who puzzles well, providing conundrums to decipher and laying impossibilities low!" She grins. "Words I have spoken that mayhap stir memories in those pieced together minds of yours, hm? Not the first time some of us have met, yet the first time we all have met."

>>22150624
"Here, I *wait*. I *watch*. Here, I *learn*. But you, why are you here, now that's a riddle worth unraveling. A product of chance? Tsk tsk tsk, no no no no, no chance of chance. Something, deeper then... A hidden string of fate? Or maybe I plucked you from the whorls of creation below just to have a look at you. Hmhmhmhm, and many more answers. Answers, answers, I have. But know you that all answers have a *price.* What have you to offer me?"
>>
>>22150655
"Educating, it was... but you have more audience than you know. I was not the only one watching by far, and not all who watched were friendly. Even now, two hands reach for the fruit of your labors, one withered and rotted, the other ephemeral and far-reaching. And that is only of those who watched. Those who watched Those-Who-Watch? Yes. Mhmhmhmhm..."

>>22150662
Ravel's eyes flash.

"A fine start," she hisses. "Yes... yes, let's hear the answer to that riddle. That old favorite."
>>
>>22150710

"Nothing can change the nature of a man, Ravel."

"...But others may disagree. Now if you could tell us what we need to do next, or something, I'd appreciate it."
>>
>>22150736
Many answers to that question. And many deaths seeking to answer what you want to hear.
Love and Time, yes. But most of all, what can change a man is Regret. A wish to have acted a different way, took a different path, or changed something already done. That is what truely changes a man.
>>
>>22150736
"So now we're going to play the riddle game. Should've brought Bilbo with us," Kitsune grouses. Ravel's eyes flash and turn to the traitor-in-reformation.

"Should I speak of *your* riddle then, fox?" Ravel whispers, her eyes gleaming. "A tangled, messy thing, a question, 'What could make a woman sell everyone she loved to Hell'? Hmhmhm, but such a low and base answer... Or is it?" The grin grows wider. "Washing away your sins in a sea of sex and booze? Or washing away yourself? Burning away memory, the past, and even the future to trap yourself in the past only for old ghosts to tickle your mind?"

The smile fades from Kitsune's face.

"I imagine you make an amusing pet, since you've tried so hard not to be a person anymore," Ravel murmurs. Kanako can only open her mouth before Ravel's gaze catches her.

"Ah, and what of this one? The quiet one, the REMORSEFUL one... yes, I can smell the torment on you, it roils off like stench from a corpse. Caught in the past like a poor fly in a spider's web, but he won't feed on you, no no no no, he injects the poison over and over, the memories of what you did and who you killed and the feel of violated flesh all over you, and you cannot die, cannot die even though anyone you cared about has long been on the other side. Cannot die, knowing if you do, see you will they NEVER."

Kanako begins breathing heavily and slumps to the ground.
>>
>>22150845
Mental Command Crew Bitchslap of HOPE AND LOVE!

Kitsune, Kanako. The fact that you try to hide from these memories, the fact that you push them away shows you regret your past. However, you cannot run forever. Use that regret, accept what happened and change who you are for the better. You wouldn't be here, we wouldn't have called for you if we didn't believe you could overcome it.
>>
>>22150890
Plus, are you really so emotionally fragile as to suffer an emotional breakdown from one crusty old bitch whining about how you are less perfect than her?
>>
>>22150845
"Many things can change the nature of a man. You already know this from the others.
"So here's another answer: Belief. Belief fuels the gods, shapes the Planes, and it is belief in how one will act, or how one should act, colored by their regrets. "
>>
>>22150790
"Pfah!" Ravel snorts. "Do I behold the nascent god of hypocrisy then? Nothing can change the nature of a man, yet before me I see two captives taken from a realm of murder and lust you dearly wish to reform. Has their nature changed? And the feeble defense that they are women and not men avails you naught. A feeble, poor, answer, and one you must pay for. But since you have form not, I will take... that one."

A column of thorny vines reaches up and engulfs Kitsune, dragging her under the floor, screaming until she can no longer be heard. Ravel grins, toothily. Most of your troops now have weapons drawn and more than a few mutter curses.

>>22150795
A BETTER answer, but not THE answer. Regret, yes, but regret weighs differently on all men. Some enough to build a fortress with. Others not even a single brick. Look at the bodies you've piled up. How many regretted? Did Chaosbringer regret anything but his own failure? Did that horrid parody of a Sith Lord regret the absurd actions he took? Did memory weigh heavy on the mind of Robotnik as the blue monster shredded him to pieces? You have mentioned the answer that I wanted to hear, but this isn't it. Think harder."
>>
>>22150944

>>
>>22150975

>>
>>22150944

Ambition, then?

It is what inspires people to better their station in life, whether it is spiritually or in terms of material wealth. Throughout the meta-verse, we've met many beings who have attempted to assert their will on reality, many of them inimical. But we've also had the honor of saving and serving beside those who have aspirations to make this multiverse a much better place.
>>
>>22150890
Kanako doesn't seem to hear you, she's staring at the spot where Kitsune vanished.

>>22150932
"You see but you do *not* see. Another answer that is true but is not THE answer. Should I take more payment? Hm. But you at least were sincere. This much I offer for that. Belief fuels more than gods, more than Planes, as well you should know having peered into the libraries of those who tinker with Void. Belief... thought... concepts... these things are the elements of existence, and you will find that is true in world after world, or... as you put it, 'canon' after 'canon'."
>>
Let's think. What lies beneath ambition, regret, and belief? Something fundamental...

Pain.

Chaosbringer, The Sith Lord and Robotnik did not feel the pain of their actions and thus, did not see a reason to change themselves.

However the person who is forced to kill, the person who is wounded through the memory of actions undertaken in the past. Are be changed through pain, for better or for worse.
>>
>>22151020
>>22151020

Willpower/Will?

The desire to create or to live? One common thing amongst all sapient life is the desire to manipulate one's environment to better suit their needs. Even animals and bacteria kill/eat other forms of life to sustain themselves.
>>
>>22151034
I was going to elaborate but I didn't want to sound like a pretentious idiot. So I'm just a regular idiot, I guess.
>>
>>22151057
But pain is no guarantee of change; sure, it gives birth to regret, but is it enough?
Maybe we have to go deeper.
A person's nature can be tested, but does it change because of internal desire to change, or outside forces pressed against it? There has to be something in common between the two.
>>
>>22150986
"Oh, my poor little thing, little wandering lamb, that is not correct..." Ravel croons. "Ambition be not what changes a man, ambition be part of his nature. A hungry rarely filled, a lust never sated, a red-brand always PUSHING. These things a man can change, yes, but not his NATURE. And so I take once more."

"Cursed hag! You'll not lay a-" a Knight Inductor roar, firing his bolter. The bolts disappear, as does the space marine. The other Knights Inductor immediately open fire, but beyond fire gouting from the barrels of their weapons, nothing happens. Ravel's eyes flash.

"In THIS place and at this TIME, toys such as that be not the weapon ye be wantin'," she says. "Shall I speak to you of belief, half-men?"

"We are the Emperor's Cho-" a space marine begins, but he falls silent as his voice is taken from him.

"HALF men," Ravel says. "Ye be that as surely as the drunkard with springs and gears in his gut. They gave you carapace and organs and muscles and skill, oh so much skill, but what they took away was half what made you human."

"We are humanity's shield," another marine says. Ravel titters at this.

"Shield you may be. Weapon, you may be. But men? No. Only half a man. With all belief chained and bound to the man chained and bound to humanity, in turn now chained and bound to him. Machines of meat and belief, feeding their power and leaving potential buried in grave-dirt."

>Lose 1 Knight Inductor.
>>
>>22151061
Maybe knowledge? The search for knowledge could be seen as a greater extension of that, in case she goes "lol no higher functions only". Our desire to explore, to gather more knowledge, as a way of trying to understand others, our environment, and ourselves, has not just changed men, but the course of history, and many times, both in our world and countless others.
>>
>>22151139
Hope? The hope that something will get better, the hope that begets desire for change, hope that change will lead to something better, atone for past regrets, or just make things more bearable.
>>
... There are just so many variables.

As Paul Dirac might say "The equation is too complicated for it to be solvable"
>>
>>22151156
>>22151183

But what can inspire someone to hope or to seek out knowledge, though? There's a fundamental driving force that inspires someone to do these things, to take hope for a better future or to seek out forbidden knowledge.
>>
>>22151183
But hope can breed inaction as well. And a man, many men, live without hope, sacrificing, for brief moments, the shame and guilt that keep them "free" of the hope they now loath to encounter within themselves...
>>
>>22151156
No, that's not it, because curiousity is part of man's nature, and ambition got one of the KI perma-killed.

And each time we answer with something wrong, someone dies.

>>22151057
"Pain... Hmmm. Torment... Hmmm. A good answer, but not THE answer," Ravel says, vines snatching one of the Zombie Hunters up by an ankle, and Jack Archer by the wrist.

They both dangle in the air, yelling as the vines bring them over to Ravel, who sniffs the air near them.

"Torment... Yes, torment. Something the one has felt much of, seeing those he loved rise again and taste the flesh of others he loved. Pain, bullets passing through rotted flesh, memories through a mind, a city in flames and so much despair..."

"Lady, you have SERIOUS problems," Jack says, trying hard to keep his cool. Ravel smiles.

"And this one has much torment as well. Tell me, Archer, given any thought to Izzy lately? What about... Helena was her name? Or how about those civilians, massacred due to your failure? Hmhmhm. Not the most potent pain, but there, yes. With time, perhaps a fine vintage. Shall I take one of you for a failed answer?"

Ravel pauses, then the vines lower the two men to the ground. "No... No, I think not. Tormented enough, you two have been."

The Story changes a man. If you change the story, change the canon, the person changes. And that person plays the role the story wishes. Hero, Villian, Savior, Devil. All these things come and go as the story requires them.

What changes the story? Desire. The desire to create a perfect world of fantasy, or to return the world as it was originally written. The desire to save something or destroy it. Desire can change the very nature of the story, and by doing so can change the face of the Meta.

ONORE DICKEDO!

Then what about imagination? Imagination is what shapes our perception of reality, as being able to imagine something affects the belief of what is possible, and whether change can take place.

Age. The stupid mistakes of yesteryear become fond memories, potent embarrassments and shame dissipate like ashes or enlarge like a waiting tumor, twisting the body with it's subtle breakdowns, going slower, not even noticing the changes, trying to resist, but failing... And in the end, we are all mad old things, stripped of everything but our pulse. Age can change a man, make him wiser, crueler, deadened to the world, or ever more sensitive to even the smallest changes in himself or his surroundings... I know for certain it can destroy a man, until it is no more a man than a black hole is a star. Just a gaping emptiness that you can't look away from.
Though you wouldn't know much about that would you, sharp as you ever was, having magic compensate for your every frailty.

I want an answer and you give me mere letters from the word. I will take that one now. He smells of regret, torment, and a life full of waste."

A pit opens up underneath one of the Confederate Marines and he falls screaming into the unknown.
>Lose 1 Confederate Marine.

"Are we allowed to guess as well?" Doctor Cossack asks, speaking up suddenly.

"All may attempt to answer, though if you with flesh try, it is your own meat you must wager. You have a daughter, toymaker. Think hard on that," Ravel rasps.

"If this keeps up, I might take a crack at it," Holtz scowls. Pellaeon nods silently.

Here's the answers from the game.
Let's narrow it down first.
>>
>>22151403

In that particular instance, Ravel said that she merely wanted the answer that the person truly believed in, and killed those who tried to guess what she wanted to hear.

But a high-wisdom/int TNO could figure out that wasn't the case at all; she only wanted to hear TNO's answer, as he was the one who inspired her to ask the question in the first place. No answer would have saved those that came before him
>>
>>22151371

From the answers we have so far, I think that Imagination or Inspiration seem to be the strongest ones.

>>
>>22151462

>cont.

Just going through some reasoning here:

Pain/Torment/Regret are reactions in man from external forces. Something stabs you, you feel pain. You can't help it. You do something stupid that your friends shun you for, that inspires regret.

You see something beautiful, you might learn how to paint. You could be motivated to write a story about it, or to better yourself and clean yourself up to seem more appealing to a beautiful person.

You see something, you become inspired; this inspiration can lead you to change.
>>

>>
>>22151484

I suppose we could go the evolution route and say

"The environment" but since "The story" was rejected...
>>
>>22151506
It is separate from a lot of the other answers in that we don't know exactly where it comes from, while pain/suffering/love/etc are all external forces that can be internal. Inspiration is purely internal in nature, it can only come.
>>
>>22151506
>>22151462
Then Experience would be why can change a man. Experience changes a man's perceptions, alters what they believe possible, and determines what they believe can change.
Because pain, regret, hope and the belief of what is possible and what is desired are all tied to experience.
>>
>>22151447

Seems like a solid choice. Experiencing hardship can inspire someone to withdraw from life, or to persevere become better for it. That person is shaped by what they have experienced thus far, and probably has a lot to do with how they cope with hardship. An extraordinary experience can inspire someone to become obsessed or to aspire to great heights.
>>
>>22150944
I remember the way she systematically killed off the Sensates because each one wanted to give the answer she wanted to hear, rather than their honest opinion.

In my opinion? Moving forward in time is not *change*. A man walks along the path of his life, and weaves his own story. Like a character in a novel ... or a old CRPG. The story that he walks, and the words used to write them - they are his nature, and he is as fixed to them as words are to the page they are written upon.
While over time he may hold many feelings, hold many emotions - over time he may *develop* - but in the end, he does not *change*. The development was Authored, it was planned, it was created by forces outside of the man. It is more inevitable than Death, as Death can be unwritten. ... And for that matter, so can a man.

Perhaps the only way to *change* the nature of a man, then, is to change the nature of a *story*.
And in that case, What can change the nature of a story?
>What can change the nature of a story?
Another story. A meta-story. Wherein people enter another being's story and *change* it.

Those are my thoughts on the matter.
>>
>>22151723
The answer of "a story" already got tried, and failed miserably.
>>
>>22151672

>cont.

Also, a blank slate of a man can said to be changed by anything. However, if this blank man is unable to experience anything, any stimuli will go unrecognized, and he will remain a blank slate. If he truly experiences hunger, he may be inspired to seek out food. If he experiences language and such and learns about them, he may be inspired to write a story in which he is the hero and everything bends to his whims.

A particularly jaded person may not have their nature changed by much of anything at that moment. But a vast quantity of experiences led them to gradually become like that.
>>
I think the answer is time. As time goes by, you gain experience and wisdom that can change your perspective and maybe even your nature.
>>
>>22152249
But a person's nature can be forcibly changed. There's what the SUE's do to characters, and what could be done to people through memory manipulation, and what happened to The Nameless One in each incarnation as he started his personality from scratch.
>>
>>22152308
I sadly haven't gotten around to playing the game yet, but can someone tell me just what definition of 'nature' and 'change' is she using?
Like if I shove a Helm of Opposite Alignment on someone's head, did I just change their nature?
>>
>>22152508
Nature: the inherent character and temperament of a being; its essence.

Change: to alter or make different from what it was.

And yes, a Helm of Opposite Alignment can change a person's nature. So can using their True Name to make them into someone else. Or having them become a member of the Borg.

Or it might not.

A Helm of Opposite Alignment will change a paranoid Good man into a paranoid Evil man, but he's still paranoid. A pit fiend ordered to be good is still a pit fiend, and depending on the wording of the order and the pit fiend itself it may only be going through the motions of being good because it has to. And while some come away from being a member of the Collective with their nature altered, others survive the encounter with their nature intact.

So your example is a poor answer, because its only one thing that can change a person's nature.
>>
>>22152249
Nah, there are lots of immortals who, given all the time in the world, haven't changed at all.
That goes all the way back to mythological deities.
Like did Zeus ever change his nature?
>>
>>22152611
>>22152613

So what can change the inherent properties of a sapient being that is capable of interpreting events and comprehending them? Experiences.

I think that experience may be our best bet here.

A good man can be turned to evil because of a sufficiently traumatic experience, or because he feels that he was cheated by fate. Similarly, an epiphany can lead a vile entity to sincerely repent their actions and try to reform or undo the harm that they've inflicted upon others. One's life experiences influences their beliefs, which can move planes and change people profoundly. Experiencing pain can lead a man to withdraw from society, or to grit their teeth and press on. Experiencing a taste of high society or wealth can inspire envy in a man, or drive their ambition to attain such things.

It is true that you might get mentally scarred and become unreceptive to anything around you. But an experience had to occur for such a change to be brought about in a person.

Experiences shape peoples' nature throughout their entire lives. It changes their perception of reality, how they act, and why they act. Thus, experience can change the nature of a man.

The act of interpreting experiences are counted as nature of man, since that's already "hard-coded" into sapience.
>>
>>22152684
That seems good, but can't the power of shitty writing alter the nature of characters for no discernible reason?
Also, is this lady asking what 'can' change the nature of a man or what will 100% guaranteed change the nature of a man?
>>
>>22152746

We know that SUEs use some sort of power to manipulate reality. Yet even in Chaosbringer's case, there were a handful of women who weren't affected by his corrupting and reality-breaking influence. They had an immunity to it, or were otherwise resistant. Something they experienced in the past allowed them to resist this influence, or made them unreceptive to the reality-bending powers of Chaosbringer (i.e. shitty fanfic writing).
>>
>>22152746
Shitty writing and changing the story is still just one man changing the nature of another through direct experience.

She's asking what changes the nature of a man, not just what can, but what will. There's too many variables as to what specifically will change one specific person, but they all essentially boil down to experience; either what the person being changed experienced to catalyze the change, or what the changer experienced, for them to go and change the nature of someone else.

It would have been nice to have these discussions on a correct answer BEFORE we lost Kitsune and 3 Troops forever.

MAYBE, if we can come up with a good riddle or puzzle, we can buy them back.

Yeah alright, experience sounds good.
Still, who would have thought we would face our greatest weakness once more?
Riddles.

At least last time we had the intellect enough to not let a Kamen Rider answer. Or give a blatantly hypocritical answer.

Man, last time was so bad an elf rose from the dead because he felt sorry for us.

At least last time we tried to think things through and didn't lose a named character on the first answer.

I think the answer is either Truth or History. Truth can be revealed and change everything you know. A new law of reality can become apparent and what you thought was up is actually down. This can drive you to madness or enlightenment, or somewhere else entirely. History because our past experiences are what we base our reactions on, what we use to gauge new experiences, and interpret incoming information. Also, I'm leaning more towards the latter because she said we gave her "mere letters of the word" when someone said "Story". Story- History- HI-STORY. Although I suppose experience can technically cover both? Also, sorry I disappeared. Bunch of real life stuff.

History is a person's experience. It's why we have XP, why we track it, why it leads to levels.
