Recap: You are ANON, the RED JOKER. In our last instalment, your trip to the VERDE was interrupted by a battle already in progress - Between BELL ZEPHYR and MEGAERA.
>>
STAGE: ANATOMETA

You stand on the third tier of an onyx arena, gleaming glass walls rising on all sides. It brings to mind an orchestra pit, expanded to epic proportions; Overlapping layers of marble, obsidian, yellow jade illuminated by hovering globes of writhing witchlight, like the confused swirl of fireflies, casting their glow on the black-and-red steps running down between the platforms.

Sealed away within solitary glass cells, faceless automata set bows to strings, the strident notes of alien melodies filling the air: Ivory-white, puppets twirl and pirouette with animatronic grace, waltzing to the weird, twitching music.

With a discordant shriek of articulating joints, MEGAERA slams down before you, scrap-metal wings shearing through the air; Brass screeches, as it shifts its massive weight, lurching towards you. The thing's maw opens, steak-knife canines glinting with jagged sharpness - A *sound* emerging, something between a roar and a burst of static...

The Corrector's collar - A length of oil-black chain, lashed around its neck, extending into infinity - wrenches at it, as corrosive drool strings from its slavering jaws. Feral instinct propels it towards you, but some invisible force tries to spur it towards Bell Zephyr's red-and-black form; The electric arcs of her whips fizzing and spitting, as she sprints towards the steps, her bone mask tilting towards you-

You can feel the *heat* radiating off MEGAERA, as it crouches to spring - The hell-pits of its eyes focusing *entirely* on you, the thing's steel-bar tails twisting and lashing as it *leers* with canine malice.

Ohhhh, shit.

Pop the plasma vulcans, fire on the move.
>>
>>22688475

Would plasma even work against something like this? It's made entirely out of BRASS and HATE.
>>
>>22688407
Sup OP? Been a while. Enjoy your work?

Oh, and switch to the gauss gun and fire.
>>
>>22688475

Your arms come up - Forearm sheaths retracting, the charging elements pulsing with death-heat - as your Plasma Vulcans spin up; Bright tracer shots stitch the air as you spring back, churning bolts of green plasma searing down the length of the arena-

Each eye-searing blast erupts against the Corrector, in a pummeling explosion - The impact staggers it, detonating against its brazen shell as a distressed growl saws from that wire-and-rust maw...

Then the thing's foreleg blurs, and you go skidding across the floor in a spray of sparks, the right flank of your crimson armor dented and gouged. Megaera hits like a jackhammer - And *so fast*...

>>22688527

The Nova Cannon - The Gauss Gun - it sketches itself into being with aching slowness, as you get your feet under you, arresting your slide; The bulky 'H' shape enclosing your arm, tiny gravimetric suspensors whining as they take the weight, as the air around you begins to churn with roil waste energies...

Even though you *know* it's coming, the Corrector's leap catches you by surprise. The speed, the ferocity; Jagged claws raking down from above, slicing through the air, fanged maw yawning impossibly wide-

And you wrench both triggers, just as the thing's crushing weight comes down. The Tau Gun bucks in your grasp, a sizzling yellow beam stabbing out - It sears into the descending Corrector, slicing a shallow furrow across the gleaming brass of it's armor; You actually *feel* the energy condensors kick as it compresses and warps matter-

There's an audible CRACK - A magnesium-blue flare that whites out your vision - as Bell Zephyr's electric lash discharges against Megaera, stinging it from the side. The beast flinches, knocked off-course; It tumbles, limbs madly locked, spitting and screeching, a sound like feedback on speakers as it slams down behind you just as the Nova Cannon fires.

One of the glass cells detonates, like a short-fused grenade. Abruptly, without warning, it erupts in a cataclysmic detonation - A blast that makes the ground judder, that kicks out pinwheeling limbs and fractured crystal in a spray of lethal sharpnel. The orchestra plays on, madly, the notes discordant, chaotic - An arm thumps down beside you, smoking, still jerking in spastic motion.

Steam vents from the sides of your weapon, momentarily shrouding you in your personal smokescreen; As you wrench yourself to your feet, as your optics adjust, you can hear the Corrector's shriek as Bell Zephyr strikes at it *again* - Angered, distracted by the sudden interruption.

How much time do we have to wait between cannon shots? If we dismiss the weapon does it reload in the meantime, or do we have to keep it out?

I'm all for staying in our nice distraction screen and charging it up again. Maybe send out two interceptor funnels to harry Megaera?

Cobalt boost the next shoot.
>>
>>22688996
Let Zephyr keep on tarpitting Megaera, though we don't want her dead, it's almost certainly Megumi. Harry her with a few funnels, keep on hitting her with the Nova Gun as she's being distracted by other things making her easier to hit. If it looks like she is going to pay attention to us again turn on afterimages and dodge like fuck.
>>
>>22689067

(There's a substantial delay; It fires one shot on average, per 'turn'. It doesn't actually 'reload', per se - The drain is on the charging elements in your arms, so the delay would remain the same, even if you swapped back to Plasma Vulcans.)
>>
>>22688996

Take the time to line another shot from our Gauss. This will give it a moment to cool off as well as giving us ample time for the Thing to charge us again, while it's still recovering. When it stops fucking off and charges us again, hit it in the head with our aimed shot to the head.

Hopefully this thing is not as fucking lethal as a Librarian. Headshots were the only sure fire way to bring one down.
>>
>>22689067
With our new meter upgrade we could use them all and keep them sustained. In any case we shouldn't forget we can fly.

>>22689109
I'm not so sure about that. I've been reading the archives and I don't think the orphanage group are completely affiliated with the smilers.
>>
>>22689126

Clarification; Thing charges. Perfect head shot opportunity as it comes at us straight on. Surrounded by our own smokescreen temporarily, thus we get concealment bonuses.

Sage because I'm exhausted.
>>
>>22689183
Bardiel is from there, and orphanage is the perfect recruitment point for the Smilers, I'm theorizing that the big guy Kou is Rusty.

Megaera is another one of the furies, just like Alecto was, and if the pattern holds true there's a player stuck inside it. Or maybe she's holding the chain that Megaera is connected to. When with Megumi we had a weird sense of *wrongness*, that is more than we would get from a normal player like Bell Zephyr.
>>
>>22689067
>>22689109

As the fug of discharge smoke swirls aside, your Rifle Bits deploy - Detaching from your shoulders, streaking away with pre-programmed agility; Particle beams lance out again and again, azure streaks of pencil-thin light, discharging at the jagged canine silhouette you can *barely* see...

You brace yourself, in a shooter's stance; Levelling the Gauss Gun straight and true - You're still not used to it, still adjusting to the thing's two-part fire - as the beast snarls, serpentine tail lashing; Tiles splinter underfoots as it flexes scissor-blade claws, suddenly jagging left-

It moves with a bewildering start-stop cadence, like stop-motion animation; Bounding forward, careening towards Bell Zephyr as she slashes both whips across Megaera's snarling face - Sparks spray, but you can actually *see* the molten furrows it leaves, closing with sickening slowness, the way a smile slowly fades.

-What drips out is bright and molten, and makes the air *steam*.

Your Rifle Bits flit around the Corrector, stabbing with their beams - Drawing a furious, snarling gnashing as it's head wrenches back and forth, momentarily torn between two targets...

(Continued)
>>
>>22689115
Okay, so it's got a one round turnaround, just a few more questions then. How long is a round? Six seconds, or as long as it needs to be? Both vulcans are disabled, right? And has the Nova Cannon benefited from our Force upgrades? Might it in the future?

Also holy shit I just figured this out from the Amalgam level up:

>FR()ST C4STUz LE\/4L ^P

Sweet Christ that was well done. Wonder why Frost Cestus got the level up when we haven't been him for years?

Also I don't care how tempting it is we're not playing with the Nihl Program we got from that battle, especially not here. Save it for the Scrapyard, or other abandoned areas.

>>22689244
We've gotten the wrongness before; from other super Collectors and a few of the weirder Players. This is probably another attempt at controlling a Collector through a Player, but rather than the "plug suit" method it's a collar and chain. We might seriously consider following the chain back to its origin, or cutting it, if Bell starts taking damage, since the Collector is much more interested in gutting us than attacking her.
>>
>>22689321

We could pull a Sora no Otoshimono easily. Although, except with cute Angeloids, we'd have an exceptionally deadlier asset at our disposal.

If only we still had our Shield... would have been handy to slice the chain and take the leash from the current master.
>>
>>22689244
I'm well aware of that. But that sense of wrongness could easily be the equivalent of a player's highlander sense. Would explain how the thief knew to come hep us when we were fighting Alecto. Also, don't forget what AP said when we told him how B was apparently set up. There is likely more than one faction within the smilers.

Well, it doesn't matter that much anyway since we now have an idea about how to win non-lethally.
>>
>>22689370
I think we should see what's at the end of the chain before we cut it.
>>
The charging lights wink green on your Gauss Gun - The Cobalt Booster a cold ember in your chest, as an actinic blue glow pulses through the weapon - as you wrench both triggers *again*. The beast seems to see it coming; It wrenches aside, violently, as the primer ray stabs towards it in a spear of fuming light-

...But this time, you're swinging the Nova Cannon towards where the thing *will* be, in the instant's delay before the antimatter projectile discharges.

For an instant, you actually *see* the impact - A fist-sized chunk of the Corrector glowing with eerie light - before another detonation rips through the air; *This* one duels with Megaera's pained howl, as the beast roars so hard the ground shakes - Flexing and mewling at a great, gouging wound on its front, as it a great scoop has been plucked from its flesh.

Liquid gore geysers from the crater, becoming ether and swirling green particles even before it hits the ground; It lashes out, almost petulantly, five claws batting Bell Zephyr's sizzling whips aside with an electric crackle - Before the thing's tail slashes around, and takes her clean in the torso.

The impact - It flings her away, like a rag doll. She slams into wall, the glass crazing beneath - sliding down, as the barbs of her twin weapons buzz and flicker fitfully against the ground-

The Corrector wheels on you, scrap-metal wings flickering fitfully - And then the air is filled with slicing, slashing shards, a continuous hail that slams into your, scarring your armor, a vertical rain of blades that splinters off your armor, that sends you reeling back under the onslaught; You can hear the thing growl vengefully as it pounds forward, as you battered again and *again* by the razor-edged hail-

(Continued)
>>
>>22689450

Or if we slice the chain, the collector may stop fighting entirely and go after the one who caught 'em in the Pokeball.

Or it could go berserk and Bright Slap our shit until it killed us when we died.

Or whatever we do will end up being a Xanatos Gambit and everything will went just as Keikaku for the player holding the leash.
>>
...The Tau Gun's recharge tone chimes in your sensors, primed - Blue force cycling through the mechanisms, ready to fire again as sparks fleck from your crimson plate, as the Corrector closes in...

Turn on the afterimages, we do not want to get hit by this bitch.

Cobalt Boosted Plasma Caster, preferably hitting the hole we already made before dodging Megaera.

Have our funnels keep on hitting it, focus on joints and otherwise hindering its mobility.
>>
>>22689529

Drop an Assault Shroud decoy and have it charge Bubbles, buying us time to fire the Gauss. After the Gauss fires, Tyrant Burst and activate the scrander to get us breathing room for the Gauss to recharge.
>>
>>22689370
I said "gutting" not "getting"; besides, the Red Joker falls under the Gunner class, not Beast Tamer. It probably recognizes the Red Joker as the entity that protected the central hive from outside entities.

>>22689529
Target the center and pull the switch Anon Ikari. Cobalt boosted, of course.

>>22689596 Has a good idea; launch two more bits (four total) and have the new ones stay near the decoy. Can we receive sensory or target information from the bits? If we can, send one down the chain for investigation purposes.

General question: Should we check on Zephyr? I'm inclined to say no, except that it would be the polite thing to do. It would also refocus Magaera's attention on her.
>>
>>22689611
That's about half of our current Assault Shroud reserves. I'd rather not do that, it'll be a very short lived distraction as it'll get hit immediately and dissipate.

And I think it's more efficient to use Cobalt Booster to improve attacks instead of using Tyrant Burst.
>>
>>22689529
>>22689529
>METER: 29%
>so close

Okay, time to evade, need to draw it away from Bell just in case. Use the scrander to quickly move so that Bell wouldn't be in the line of fire should we miss then hit Megara again with the Tau. Keep our interceptors out of the shrapnel storm.
>>
>>22689611
If you're going for a distraction I think it should just be the Tyrant flash, the clone would go down instantly under all the blades to no effect.
>>
>>22689611
Don't use a clone, not worth it. A Tyrant Flash could distract it if we need it blinded for a bit.
>>
>>22689665
>It probably recognizes the Red Joker as the entity that protected the central hive from outside entities.

That or Megumi recognizes the Joker as the player who killed Bardiel.
>>
>>22689681
>>22689719
>>22689741

It's hurting. To charge was meant as a flanking distraction, not head-on. I should have clarified.

We need to buy time for our Gauss to recharge and cool off after each shot, which the Booster and Decoys provide. We need to open space between us or it is going to murder glomp us..
>>
>>22689752
I thought we decided that Bell Zephyr was Megumi and Magaera was unknown/controlled by an unknown Player?
>>
>>22689781
I'm not feeling Bell Zephyr as Megumi. When we asked why she was here she was much more hesitant and guilty looking than I think she would be if she was just a player.
>>
(Apologies for the delay - That's a lot of moves to keep track of.)

>>22689596

Your Assault Shroud fans out, filaments of nanomaterial dispersing - Ghostly afterimages trailing in your wake, dents and gouges cratering your crimson plate. The sound of the continuous, low-gauge impacts - Shrill, like fingernails against a chalkboard - set your teeth on edge, as the slicing gauntlet continues. You get your arms up, the shards clattering dully off your forearms; One of them slices fluid cables in your thigh, another slamming in your head *so hard* your vision whites-out, for an instant...

-Then the hail momentarily slackens, as you hear the shrill *hiss* of your Rifle Bits lancing shot after shot into Megaera from the sides, from behind, from every angle at once; Like a dog tormented by flies, it lashes out at them in mindless thrashing fury - You see those shard-wings resolve back into view, before erupting forth in another slicing cone. As the air becomes blades, first one, then the *other* Interceptor tumbles, hit again and again - They're literally shredded by the sheer volume of impacts, splintering apart beneath the horizontal rain of knives.

>>22689665

You spear the creature on your crosshairs - The azure targeting beam stabbing it head-on, this time - the Cobalt Booster making your limbs sting with cold strength as you sidestep; Two more Rifle Bits spiral into the air, your fuming silhouette detaching from you as the decoy throws itself forward in a heedless charge-

The beast's scrap-metal claws slice down the air, five identical knives: It carves right through your doppleganger, encountering no resistance - For a moment, the Corrector checks itself, off-balance, as you fire at center-mass...

BOOM.

(Continued)
>>
This time, the explosion is like a blue supernova, bright and brilliant, like the birth of a star. Your vision goes white, then red, than black; Megaera's entire mass goes pinwheeling away, thrashing as it tumbles in flailing, kicking disarray - When it hits the ground, it howls so loudly the orchestra goes silent, so loudly that glass sprays outwards from the honeycombed cells.

Your shot hit it side-on; The thing's forelimb is a jagged, sheared stump, tendrils of vapor rising from the point of impact - Disintegrated, eaten away, converted from superdense brass to raw flame. Your Rifle Bits are sent tumbling away, jets flaring dizzily as they struggle to correct themselves, reorientating on the target - The Tempest Scrander hums to life at your back...

(Continued)
>>
Red particles fume, as a dizzying surge of thrust kicks you into the air. You're ascending, through a swirling cloud of ruin - You can see the Corrector sprawled on its side, twitching as it struggles to rise...

-And then something whips through the fog, and knocks you sideways. For an instant, the world pinwheels, end-over-end...Before a steel lash snaps *taut* around your arm, lashing around the Nova Cannon over and over again. It *pulls* - For an instant, you make out the segmented links, ratcheting out with inexorable force - wrenching you down, as it *vices* even tighter, a furious *heat* pulsing down your limb...

It's the Corrector's *tail*...Articulating like a steel serpent, glowing with it's own internal fires; Your weapon groaning as the metal creases inwards, slowly crushed onto itself. Unsteady on three limbs, Megaera *snarls*, heedless of the chain wrenching at its corded throat; The Corrector's maw ratchets open, and you glimpse the first flare of the furnace-heat within the thing's very core...

Turn to the side, grab onto a farther away part of the tail, and then tyrant burst in a vertical line to cut the tail off. Then, use the tempest scrander to launch in the direction we would be facing, putting some distance between the beastie and us.

Is it just me, or does it seem like this battle has basically been one constant explosion? We have so many beam weapons or energy explosives that we haven't been using the vulcans all that much. It's pretty cool, really, just making an observation.
>>
>>22690163

>>

We can't use the Nova Cannon, it's kinda crushed, and we're grappled so trying to pull out the Annihilator seems like a bad idea.

Switch to vulcans, and blow apart the tail with them.

If we're rather close shove a cobalt boosted Caster down its throat, if we're at a medium distance unleash a flight of 6 cobalt boosted napalm fuck you missiles.
>>

Drop the Rifle before it explodes in our face. It has us dead to rights and can fling us around like a rag doll....

I wonder, can we form fortress mode in front of us and thus sever the part of tail that is grabbing us?

Either way, hit it with a charged particle beam.

Guys. It's immune to fire. OP has dropped hints with the whole thing about it's mouth dripping magma. Wasting cobalt boost on napalm macro missile spam is pointless.

We have a new primary weapon in the Nova Cannon. It works sort of like the plasma cutter in Dead Space. Thing is, it disables the Vulcans.

>>22690291
Yes, I think so. It's only been in the last few threads that it's become apparent, but I think OP's of the FROM Software school of game design.

Yeah, I meant Tyrant Burst's T3 rave modo.
>>
>>22690540

(Yeah, you're right: I missed that. My bad.)

You're beginning to slide - Dragged closer, inch by scraping inch, your Nova Cannon spitting fitful sparks; The edges are crimping, now, unpleasant metallic sounds echoing in your ears as it begins to glow molten, folding inwards as it crumples...

>>22690228

With an effort - A surge of will - the Tau Gun unmakes itself; Fading to the taut lines of the schematics, erasing themselves as it collapses back into your forearm sheaths. For an instant, there's a blessed respite from the crushing *pressure*...Before the coils constrict again, warping the barrels of your right-arm Vulcan...

>>22690226
>>22690167

The Tyrant Burst system hums with charging light, as you twist towards the creature: Particles swirling around you, cycling as the array it accumulates charge - You dig your feet in, as it gains one, two, more...Pitting your strength against the Corrector, as it reels you in-

At the very edge of your vision, you see Bell Zephyr struggle to rise, then fall back - Seemingly dazed, concussed, fighting to stand; The missile pods on your back snap open, the target lock chiming as...

-The beast *exhales*, and your world fills with pain.

(Continued)

The particle bean is also tier 3 of the Tyrant Burst
>>
Four missiles *slam* into the thing - Your hear the crackling roar of chemical flames, as the dancing blue witchfire of napalm mantles the thing's skull, like a lion's mane - but then everything is agony.

For one moment, you wonder if you're on *fire* - But no, this is infinitely worse. Raw pain sears along your nerves, even through your crimson armor - A howl of unalloyed suffering wrenched from your throat, a horrid monotone shriek. Molten brass spews across you, bubbling, searing -

You can hear your armor beginning to hiss and bubble - It's *literally* melting away, warping beneath the furious heat, pushed to it's very limit - And there's pain, pain, PAIN-

A single ice-white beam slashes through the air, as liquid hate bubbles around your right arm - The angle is wrong, your control wavering. It slashes out at an oblique angle, scorching through the air; As you spasm, it goes wild, blasting apart two glass prisons, decapitating a pair of waltzing puppets...

-And then it slices into the rattling steel serpent of Megaera's thrashing tail.

(Continued)
>>

That's gotta hurt. Quick! Grab the tail and make like the dildo bat in Saints Row!
>>
>>22690688
Maybe we could get the tail as a relic. Though since it would be a whip it would probably be more Zephyr's style.
>>
It doesn't cut *through* - You see the links *glow*, distorting beneath the particle ray - But it *wrenches*, pulling you forward with a teeth-rattling surge, before it snaps away, riling like a thrashing serpent, describing whipping arcs through the air. You're so *close* to the Corrector you can make out the hell-pits of its eyes, feel the hot, damp stinking air blowing up at your face, like a gust from the inferno itself...

But when one dinner-plate paw comes splintering down, you trigger the Tempest Scrander. You go sliding back, skidding and scraping - The thrusters hot against your back, your right arm smoldering - in a wild, thrashing skid, until the thrust sputters out. The beast mewls in frustration, limbs grinding and screaming - Then it twists from side-to-side, making a clashing sound like the vicious scrape of blades; Breath panting as that canine skull swings around, whining in frustration-

...To orientate on Bell Zephyr again, spurred on the insistent, remorseless collar. Fuming gore dribbles down onto the floor from the stump of it's forelimb, scoring the tiles deeply...Even as you're momentarily forgotten, your Rifle Bits weaving drunkenly as they bob back into view...

>>22690748
Get the Rifle Bits to get back on the attack. Check to see if the Nova Cannon is operational and fire it if we can. We need to build up enough meter to unlock the railgun.
>>
>>22690748
Have the Rifle Bits focus on the tail, especially the part that we half melted with the beam.

Open fire with the vulcans, try to take out the collar/chain thing.

We're approaching 24% meter, once we hit that a full powered Cobalt Boosted Fusion Annihilator might be worth doing.
>>
>>22690748
>>22690778
Oh yeah, and yell out a warning to Bell Zephyr that the Corrector is after her.
>>
>>22690748

Check the Rifle. If it isn't completely scrapped, use it, if not, switch to the Vulcans for harassment. Aim for the chain if it's visible.

>>22690783

Annihilator has already been unlocked. Not enough meter for a full charged shot though.
>>
>>22690833
That's why I said wait till 24% as that's how much a six charge shot costs.
>>
>>22690748
>spurred on the insistent, remorseless collar.

Well that answers that question. But we probably should save Bell. Launch all remaining interceptors and spin up the Vulcans on the arm that isn't overheated. Go full mobile assault, we know how hard it is to avoid the shrapnel so use cover ass necessary.

Unless, of course, it's feasible to just scoop up Bell superman style and head for the end of that leash. Cause then we should just do that.

Cut that tail off like any good hunter would.

Rifle bits and vulcans if the nova cannon is out of action, otherwise use that. It's a difficult target, but we can't afford to get caught in that again.

Also jesus christ this thing is resiliant. It took a straight shot from the antimatter thingy, right to the chest, and barely even blinked.
>>
>>22690852

Hell, that might actually be the best option, frankly. Boost the Scrander, haul ass for Bell, grab her, and run.

We're hurting just as much as she is. A tactical retreat might be our only option at this point.
>>
>>22690871
It took TWO direct hits from the Nova Cannon and its still ticking.
>>
Your arm hangs limp at your side, as you stagger to your feet; You tell yourself that the pain isn't *real*, that you'll be *fine* - But shattered bracelets of armor rattle around your fused limb, the myomer muscle fibers utterly slagged. You try - No, you can't move it.

You firm your will, the Rifle Bits ceasing their random, drunken motions - Snapping to attention, making their shrill, shrieking noises as they discharge again and again, spitting pencil-thin beams of charged particles into the Corrector's flanks.

>>22690795

Half-standing, Bell Zephyr seems insensate as Megaera looms over her; With one limb missing, it rears up awkwardly, coming down with claws flailing - But she hears you.

She throws herself to the side, as the Corrector wheels towards her, claws dicing the air - She rolls hard as it swipes at her, the thing's swing cutting a groove in the onyx floor, nicking a pillar. The beast growls as your shots stitch pinpoints of impact across it's brass shell - Compelled, it lurches forward, as Bell Zephyr keeps it at bay with a hasty whipcrack, sparks hailing across the thing's surface...

(Continued)
>>
>>22690783
Only after we've cut ourselves free. We need *distance*.

>>22690748
Fire the vulcans and have the bits hurry up and slice the tail.

...Anyone think electricity would be effective on this? The Scrander's got a new function. We've got a powerful electrical attack that depletes the Scranders charge for an unknown amount of time. I think it MIGHT be useful, but on the other hand this thing is made of molten brass so it might not do anything.
>>
>>22690915

Well, electricity attacks are only half as effective against fire types if my memory serves right playing Yellow....

Your last Rifle Bit screams in across the Corrector's field of vision; You lift your left arm, and let fly with a hail of shots. Plasma bolts explode against the thing's throat, particle beams against it's lashing tail - Each impact makes the thing glow dully, more discomfited than actually *troubled* by the hits - It makes a low, keening sound in it's throat, in pain, furious, taking on a pair of elusive and tenacious prey...

>>22690871

The stark lines of the Nova Cannon flicker fitfully, recohering - It's coming, but it needs a moment more as your Plasma Vulcan joins the fire of all three Bits; The Corrector's lashing tail swipes one from the air, just bats it to the side - It hits the ground at your feet, the beam sputtering out as you keep pummeling the thing with shots...

-And at last the bulky, unlovely weight of the Tau Gun encases your arm again. It's a half-charge; You wonder why, until you realize - The charging element in your right arm has been compromised. The energy builds, as your Bits loop and dart and *sting*...The massive scrap-metal wolf hurls itself at Bell Zephyr, as she hurls herself to safety - She can't dodge forever, as a brass foot mashes down on the floor besides her.

Crackling energy splinters from her lashes, as she snaps them out - Jagging electricity coursing through the Corrector, as it spasms and twitches beneath the sizzling discharge; She's pumping all the voltage she can muster into it, and it's *fighting* the current, fangs chattering as it drives forward, the distance between them shrinking...

>>
>>22691002

(Quick clarification: The thing's tail released you, actually - It let go after you hit it with the particle beam.)
>>
>>22691018
There's the attack where we Cobalt Boost ram them with the Scrander Tackle and take some damage ourselves, and then there's another attack where we shoot lightning from our ass--er, jetpack, and can't use it until it recharges.

>>22691024
Whew. In that case give the brass monkey a jolt.
>>
>>22691017

We need that Gauss *now*. Not enough time to switch and all of our other available ranged attacks will catch Bell in the AOE as well. Should we risk Boosting the charge on the Rifle or is the risk too great of it exploding on us?

There's still the option of Cobalt Boosting the Scrander and grabbing Bell as well and running. Live to fight another day and we'd have a tenuous ally to boot.
>>
>>22691017
It's basically immune to all our weapons.

Could we combine a shot from the nova cannon and a fully charged fusion annihilator? I assume the recoil will break our arms, but at the moment it's looking like the only thing that will put a dent in the thing.

Else, we could really use a singularity cannon right now.
>>
>>22691017
It's focused on something other than us, we have plenty of charge, and we still have some Cobalt Booster.

Let's do this, Fully Charged, Cobalt Boosted, Fusion Annihilator. Once it gets to charge tell Zephyr to GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE FIELD OF FIRE.
>>
>>22691017
Shit, if she's connected like that then we cant put fortress mode between them. Ok, screw the tail, send the interceptors for Megara's eyes. Could still try the Superman option for a quick rescue since chargeing the Tau doesn't seem like it'll be fast enough. Or we could Cobalt boost the scrander and use it's shockwave ram to knock Megara away. Or, off balance I guess.
>>
>>22691080

No Annihilator. It'll catch Bell in the aoe.
>>
>>22690915
Nah, that's a ramming attack, and putting ourselves in close range will kill us.
>>
>>22691055
>>22690915
Isn' that the scrander crash? What we used on Inox Fang that revealed there was two of them? Pretty sure that fucks us totally. It's supposed to be a desperation move.
>>
>>22691069
The gauss gun is the Nova Cannon, it just has two names. Cobalt boosting it doesn't upgrade the damage, it just reduces the cooldown time.

And cobalt boosting the Scrander is liable to end poorly, that's what causes the ramming effect.

>>22691100
Check the pastebin.
>Due to a unique interaction between the Scrander's static-based repulsors and the new reactor, the wearer - At the cost of completely depleting the Scrander's charge - can release a powerful bolt of lightning. Similarly, the area-of-effect and the output of the Tempest Scrander's collision attack - The 'Tempest Crash' - has been boosted.

The lightning bolt is what I'm saying to use, the crash is the ramming attack.
>>
>>22691069
What rifle?
>>
>>22691122

I imagine the Scrander Crash similar to the Vanguard's charge from Mass Effect.

it aint gonna do shit against Bubbles man. Too big.
>>
>>22691141

The Nova Cannon. The Gauss Rifle. It's the same thing.

The Nova Cannon is a Coil Gun or a Gauss Rifle. Gauss Rifle sounds cooler in my opinion.
>>
>>22691122
No, the lightning is what we used on Inox, that hurts us too. Also I think it's AOE. Seemed that way vs Inox
>>
>>22691087
If we cobalt boosted the interceptors the contiuouse beam would be good to blind Megara even if its eye weren't all that damaged
>>
>>22691122
It's risky, because it leaves us without an escape button if it happens to get us in close range again.

Then again, we are rapidly running out of options.

I say let's go for it. Use the Tempest Bolt (Or whatever it's real name is).
>>
You remember - Same as with Inox Fang - as your Scrander goes from a living, whirring device, to dead metal. The Corrector - The *beast* - it's made entirely of brass. Then why...Why is the electricity *hurting* it? Why is it thrashing and struggling and twitching, as the awful current bites into...Into...

...Into whatever's within the shell. Into whatever gives it shape.

The lightning that flashes out from you is red, like the most malignant hatred, and shot through with snakes of yellow and coral-pink. It actually *arcs* - Drawn to Megaera, eager to ground itself - as it leaps towards your target, a spear thirty meters long. The bolt of jagged red fury hits the Corrector in the side, flaring out in a crown of thorns; It *eats* into the thing, the blistering field of distortion shorting out your Rifle Bits - They tumble, lights out and power gone, their system blanked by fleeting contact.

What? None of our weapons are called Gauss Rifle. The Nova Cannon/Tau Gun doesn't even operate like a gauss weapon, either.

I know. Hence boosting it with the Booster to increase the energy flowing into the charging coils and thus firing it faster.
>>

>>
>>22691299
It shoots antimatter. I think you're confusing it with the Longinus Railgun.
>>
>>22691329

Those slugs are antimatter pellets. Thus, they are still slugs fired from a Coil Gun/Gauss Rifle.
>>
>>22691246

For one moment, the hellish lightning links with the electricity arcing from Bell Zephyr's whips - A catastrophic chain reaction that builds on itself; There's the smell of ozone, of crisping flesh, the only light the magnesium flare of electricity, going red, then brighter - Whiter - to blue, until everything is just a scribble pattern of light.

With a final, triumphant flash, a roll of distant thunder, the world comes apart in a scorching white stripe, like part of the screen of reality has burned out. Strands of electricity lance upwards, knotting together, forming one massive beam that sputters and crackles - An effect you've never seen before, like lightning in reverse-

And the chain collar - The oil-black length that stretch out into infinity - snaps. Links scatter outwards like buckshot, at lethal velocities; Puppets crumple, punctured, smoldering, as there's a painful, audible *whiplash* - like a soundless eruption of agony and outrage - as the Corrector is convulsively and abruptly released...

It hits the ground. Several tonnes of brass smashes down, without grace, as Megaera falls on it's side. As your vision returns, you see Bell Zephyr get a knee under herself, rising unsteadily - Smoke wisps from her black-and-red ensemble, scorch marks etched on her mask as she stands. Only sullen sparks play across her whips, the charge exhausted.

You hear a continous clatter as the shards of the Corrector's wings rain down - No longer held together, scattering themselves in a molten flurry. The great beast is sprawled, claws scraping sideways as it struggles to right itself; Great gashes marked against the floor as molten gore spills loose. You glimpse raw red muscle, beneath the brass armor, now coming apart - Nerves and flesh exposed, charred half-black at uneven intervals as it fights to rise...

Bell Zephyr takes a step back, as your arm comes up - As your Cobalt Booster goes from blue to grey, the remnants of the charge fed into the voracious reactor of your Fusion Annhilator. The gun comes into being an inch at a time, the white-hot fury of the Annhilator's core encased within angular lines of self-building schematics...Focusing it, directing it as your fist tightens on the firing grip...

She's smart.

She begins to run, and she does not stop.

The chamber cycles like a revolver, until six blue charging bars wink to life along the side: The matter-energy reaction is already beginning, with a sharp hiss of inhalation - Like an indrawn breath - as the air distorts around the barrel...

When the unstoppable white beam blasts forth - Like a flashlight of annhilation - it screams like you're murdering the world.

And perhaps you are.

Concentric rings of shockwave and overpressure criss-cross, and twist the Corrector apart. Light blooms, a ferocious blue-tinged white that scares away the blackness of the void like a sunrise, and turns MEGAERA into a sharp-edged black silhouette.

"Not to most people, you're good at hiding it, but I've learned that nobody is actually as cheerful as you act. If you want to find the saddest people look for the biggest smiles. It's a good ruse, but it doesn't stand up to careful scrutiny. Also the panda was a dead giveaway.

It was my pleasure to show you a good day though. I'm sorry that you don't get as many as you deserve.

Do you want any help with what you came here to do? I'm more than a bit of an idiot so I can't remember what it was.

If you ever need some help feel free to call me, I'll give you my number."

That's a bit too obvious. We relaly shouldn't mention AP yet.

I'm not sure we should name drop big A. We don't know exactly where her loyalties lie, how much she knows, and that could complicate things overly much.

>She laughs, softly: "...It is, isn't it?" Megumi muses - She doesn't seem too surprised, either way, lowering her eyes demurely.
Anon already told her. And if she's not involved then Argent sounds more like a government agency or NGO then a person's name.

She knows we're in the game, but we don't know her personal opinions on Big A.

(...And ah, crap, there it goes. I've lost the next post about three times, now: I'm sorry for the abrupt ending, but it seems I'm going to need to stop here for now - It's getting pretty late.

Apologies for the uncertain schedule - I've been busy with part-time work, which has disrupted things somewhat. I should be able to establish a more coherent schedule by February - And I'll keep the current posts into account for next time.

Hope to see you soon: And, as always, good night and god bless.)

Steal your neighbor's wifi. What I do on a regular basis since my router shit itself.

There's a pity. But it's after midnight and I've got writing to do so I guess it's for the best. Night OP.

I have to say, OP, that was one hell of a fight.

Two thumbs up.
