2d20, first roll determines priority of action in case of conflict, second determines success of action. Can roll multiple dice for multiple actions with multiple characters.

Last time: The merchant vessel the acolytes boarded came under attack shortly after entering that home stretch, the 4 day jump that would bring the acolytes home. Warp beasts, and chaos marines lead by a Daemon (Prince or Greater?) attacked, killing all those in command at the bridge and causing horrific casualties. Sebastiano got punched in the dick by Berold's new (girl?)friend, and managed to scare away said big Daemon by firing a lascannon out of his eye. Kirstin got ahold of an autocannon, Hadrak almost got crushed to death and now they're back in realspace, repairing the ship, souping up the defenses and preparing to leave once more.

Rolled 11, 20 = 31

Character descriptions, reading optional.

>Sebastiano Berruti - Scum - Autogun/Obnoxiously-Gold-Trimmed-Handcannon/Flamer. Thinks himself a ladies man. He's actually not half bad. Right eye's been replaced with a pretty high quality aug made my Hadrak, able to shoot lasers and such. Is able to pull a higher gothic accent off really well for some reason. I've actually lost track of what weapons he has on him and what ones he's lost to Hadrak again.
>Hadrak Abajian - Techpriest - Lasgun/Mechandrites. Kleptomaniac, particularly keeps on stealing Sebastiano's autopistol. He's friendly enough, although a bit cold while he's working. Doubles as the medic. Got a hold of a deflector field generator and fixed it up. Also has Seb's autopistol, and has built him a leg that he hopes to replace the organic one with at some point. Working on an arm for the same. Had his midsection and servoharness crushed by a giant mutant crab claw. Got better.
>Nora Hinfalliger - Arbites - Combat Auto-shotgun/Revolver. Not originally with the party. In a relationship with Kirstin. Doesn't seem to care for most of the party members aside from her. Warming up a bit though.
>Kirstin Fritzen - Guardsman - Lasgun/Heavy Stubber/Grenades. Burn on her neck from a lasbolt. In relationship with Nora. Closest thing to a straightman in the group, except she isn't straight and isn't a man. Found an autocannon. Obviously not going to carry it around EVERYWHERE, but if she needs it it's there.
>Berold Schuster - Assassin - Longlas (With some Hotshots)/Silenced Pistol. Very shy. Very bad at talking to people. Met a nice girl at the shooting range though.
>Ellyn Ciarra - Assassin - Sniper Rifle/Laspistol/Knives. Is the nice girl from shooting range. Punched Sebastiano in the dick. Likes Berold. Outgoing and cheerful. Pretty much the opposite of him. Part of crew now or not?
>>
The Black Ship and the accompanying Naval Fleet have cut contact with the acolyte vessel, and now seem occupied with whatever they were doing before. Once the ship is cleaned up, with no captain, Hadrak takes the reigns. Medics say his spine is mangled by that crab claw and he really shouldn't be walking around so much but they're fleshies, so what do they know? He repairs the broken consoles and begins to teach some of the smarter hands how to operate them, as he improves the ship's weapons and defenses. He's also trying to get Sebastiano to learn how to operate the machinery, having shown a bit of a knack for it previously.

The acolytes have moved out of their shared quarters, and now each have their own room, taking over the living areas of the now-deceased command crew. They're nice enough. Hadrak takes the captain's quarters himself, and keeps the box there locked away in a chest. Ellyn still doesn't know about it, but doesn't inquire either.

They have a few hours before departing for warpspace again. Any final preparations they should do?

>Jesus I need to cut down on these intros. Probably skip the character descriptions next time, we all know what they're like by now.

>>22949949
In a massive stroke of luck, one of the inquisitors aboard the Black Ship knows Karras, and owes him a favour. He decides to repay it by convincing the leaders of the Navy fleet to help out with arming up the merchant vessel.

Cargo bays are emptied of their less-valuable goods and filled with weaponry and ammunition instead. It isn't long before this escort-sized ship has the weaponry and ammunition of a small cruiser. Hadrak is pleased with this, and proud to be at the bridge of what used to be a simple transport, but is something much, much worse now.
>>
>>22949973
The medics insist on Hadrak fixing up his spine, they really do, but he believes something as mundane as a spinal cord is a waste of his time and efforts, and instead continues to work on Sebastiano's new arm. His back is in pain, there's a few dents in his servo harness and he walks a bit slower than before, but does it matter? Not to him.
>>
Rolled 18, 10 = 28

>>22949995

>>
>>22950020
The Navy provided lots of ship-board weapons, the more elite soldiers from earlier, a new navigator and not much else. Hadrak has plenty of bits and bobs, but to replace all his limbs, organs and everything else with metal, while an appealing idea, is not something he can do before they jump, or even before they arrive. And if another attack comes he doesn't want to be lying on the operating table when it happens. That would be illogical.

Hadrak takes Sebastiano up to the control room/bridge and plunks him down on the weapons console. He's spent their time in realspace teaching him how to operate it, and he's actually not half bad. Comes from being born in a hive, supposedly. The bridge crew take up positions, and those elsewhere in the ship get ready for a jump, the survivors of the last one ever paranoid of those... things coming out of the walls again.

A low hum grows in volume, then stops. Outside, the ship shudders for a second as the Geller fields activate, then vanishes from realspace. The acolytes, now with a full vessel brimming with weaponry under their control, enter the warp for what is hopefully the last time. Three days to kill, waiting for their misfortunes to cease. How shall it be filled?

Kirstin keeps trying to spend some quiet time with Nora, but the latter is on edge. Even when they get together on the observation deck she insists on having her shotgun there. An argument erupts when Kirstin tells her to relax, and they storm off to separate rooms, for that night-cycle. No attack comes.

>>22950107
Hadrak, meanwhile is beginning to feel the effects of that claw far more, and complains of numbness in his feet a few times. Eventually he realizes that maybe overwork is contributing, and gets one of his more trustworthy bridge crewmen to take over for the rest of the jump, while he gets some much-needed rest in his bunk.

>>22950119
Sebastiano meanwhile has continued to train himself with the weapons. He can't fire them in the middle of a warp jump, but with surprising intelligence he still works out the fastest ways to access and target them all, with the help of the bed-ridden Hadrak every once in a while.

>>22950124
He catches the eye of one of the ladies operating weapons alongside, and they get drinks before returning to his quarters. Neither is quite as proficient at their drills the next morning, but neither seems to care.

Berold and Ellyn do together what they both do best; sharpshoot. They exchange techniques, try out each other's weapons, check targets with each other, do drills, and just shoot targets down at the range. Slow, and unromantic for some, but for them it's a long walk on the beach, hands clasped, under the moonlight.

>>22950206
Of course, Hadrak can't stay sleeping forever, and has some of the servitors bring him components and help him up. He begins to work on Sebastiano's arm again, now looking for a way to integrate his gold-plated handcannon into it. Over the course of the day he makes great progress, and creates a metallic, sleek arm with a revolver (read, the handcannon) that slips out the side and can fire at impulse. Additionally the fingers can grow small, sharp knives, and the palm has a pneumatic hammer that should add some kick to his punches. Overall it's a pretty well-built hand, if he says so himself.

He also takes a look at the leg, but honestly can't think of anything else to add to it by this point. Just like all the previous times he's looked at the leg and thought of what to add. At one point Sebastiano walks in with his arm draped around that same weapons officer from before, and asks what those things are. Hadrak says that they're new guns, and apparently satisfied, he leaves to find his own bunk.

>>22950263
Hadrak looks for Sebastiano later on, to try and get him his new arm, but can't seem to find him, unfortunately.

>>22950218
>>22950238
Kirstin isn't happy about the argument, and when she tries to talk to Nora she just gets a door in the face. She's angry at first, but gets over it, even if Nora doesn't want to talk. Eventually she gets some flowers from the leftover cargo the merchants were shipping, and leaves them at the door with an apology note. She doesn't see Nora, but when she later passes by the flowers are gone.

Ellyn and Berold spend another day on the range before going back to take a nice dinner back to her quarters. When they finish eating she hints that he should spend the night. He either doesn't get it, or doesn't feel confident enough to, and leaves. She's not angry, but she is a bit disappointed by the turn of events. Maybe it's just the warp. They'll be back into reality tomorrow, so she'll see if that's really it.

Not before Hadrak takes the autopistol back. Might as well add it alongside the revolver right?

Well aware that Hadrak wants his leg gone, Sebastiano denies his squeeze another go at it for the last day, and stays sober and on guard. Hadrak never gets a chance, for now, and eventually goes back to the helm, sporting a wooden walking stick he found in the hold.

Meanwhile, Berold and Ellyn skip the range, and instead go for a dinner in one of the quieter eating areas of the ship. She tells him to dress "nicely", and after much deliberation (and some help from Kirstin) he ditches the cloak and bandoliers, opting for a navy blue jacket and corduroys. Kirstin stifles a laugh and tells him he looks great, before telling him to "Go get 'er" with a wink.

Ellyn's wearing a very nice red dress, that "An old boyfriend" got her for her birthday once. It's a pleasant dinner, and he walks her back to her quarters. Surprisingly, he gives her a kiss at the end of the night, and once the shock wears off she smiles warmly, and they part ways. A few hours later the ship enters realspace once more, to an unwelcome sight.

Pretty much the moment they enter space again, something rams them. Hadrak calls Sebastiano up to help, but by the time he arrives the other ship has dislodged itself. Before the weapons can heat up, someone on the other ship hails and says they were under duress, but "The guy's gone now, he took one of the escape pods or something, he attached stuff to our engines and we can't get rid of it, HELP US!"

At that point, a rapidly-moving pod is seen heading directly towards the bridge. Weapons fire at it to no avail, and Hadrak yells for everyone to clear the area, get out of the room. Before he and Sebastiano can leave as well, it impacts. The pod shatters through the observation glass, almost causing the two to be sucked out of the hull along with the air. Moments before they lose their grip, the emergency retention field activates, and air begins pumping back into the room. The pod slowly opens, and a huge, menacing and vaguely recognizable figure climbs out. It smiles, as much as something with very little of a face remaining can smile, and says in a robotic tone;

"It's been a long time, my friends, hasn't it?"

Filled with combat drugs, extra muscle, everything. He tries to shut them down, and manages to sever the link they've got to the brain, paralyzing him for but a few seconds. It's enough, and he contacts the rest through the PA.

>>22950515
Nora hears the announcement from Hadrak following the ruckus, and realizes that something probably wants the box. She runs to Hadrak's quarters, resorting to shooting the trunk with her shotgun to get the box out to hold onto. Kirstin has thought the exact same thing, and bursts in a few seconds later with her stubber. Then, he sees all of the augments, and realizes what Hadrak is trying to make him. He turns to Hadrak, who meanwhile is thirstily eyeing the EXTREMELY well made "gifts" that he has. Hadrak ignores this, and tries to tell the big man that he just "wants to take away those parts, that's all"

This does not make the pilot happy, and he opens fire. Hadrak's back might be ruined but he still pushes himself out of the way with the help of the mechandrites, and Sebastiano ducks behind a few consoles opposite from him. He sees Berold and Ellyn floating around outside in void suits. For some reason.

>>22950620
Nora realized the danger of the item upon reaching the blast door a few minutes ago, and figures that if Karras wants it open so bad he probably has enough stuff to undo this; she gets a lascutter and roughly welds it shut. She can probably make Hadrak do it properly later on.

>>22950834
Sebastiano reaches for his autogun, and opens up. The bullets hit him, but for the most part plink off ineffectually. Still, he has fleshy bits remaining, and feels the bite in the back of his neck. Somehow he's taken all of these hits and still moves around uninhibited, if bleeding a bit. He swings the club at the now-exposed Sebastiano, and gets him in the ribs, either breaking or bruising a few, and tossing him against the wall. This enrages the pilot. "I was one of YOU!" he throws his club at the blind techpriest, knocking him against the wall again. "I WAS LEFT FOR DEAD!" He smashes a nearby screen. "That is NO end for a loyal servant! But now you shall know... and your friends will too, eventually."

He hears the explosion from outside. They'll be coming soon. He walks over to the console controlling safety, activates the rebreather inside his body, and deactivates the oxygen pump and emergency force field. He manages to keep his grip, but the injured Sebastiano and Hadrak go flying out along with the air.

They fly out, and Hadrak grabs onto Berold, who's holding onto Ellyn, who's holding onto the edge. They kill their momentum, Hadrak and Sebastiano desperately holding their breath, and hurry back to an airlock, but not before Sebastiano passes out completely from the cold and lack of air. Hadrak is a bit more resilient and collapses against a wall, exhausted, as the airlock doors close. Ellyn looks ready to go back out and end this, but Berold holds her back, reasoning that they need to keep together to keep safe.

He begins to lose conciousness as he begins his descent into the atmosphere of the planet the ship orbits.

Berold does his best to get Hadrak back on his feet, but the cold steel of his mechanicus body doesn't warm up easily. Hadrak assures him that "I shall be fine, given a minute"

Meanwhile, Ellyn takes off the helmet and gloves of her void suit to check up on Sebastiano, and realizes that he's not breathing. It's unappealing, and she certainly doesn't like him, but she wouldn't want to just let a friend of Berold's die like that. She pushes on his chest, then gives him a breath, then compressions, then a breath, then compressions.

Well, Sebastiano actually revived when she first started doing compressions, but was only vaguely awake (and was alright with the whole breath thing too). On that last compression though, there's a crack, and his bruised rib becomes broken. He comes alive, yelling in pain, and Ellyn sits back, relieved. The other end of the airlock opens, revealing Kirstin and Nora with the partially-welded box.

"Soldiers just came back. Only 12 of them left. They said they knocked him out, and then threw him from the ship. He should be burning up in the atmosphere right about now." They smile at the group, then each other. Looks like they've made up.

She seems pleased by this perception of her.

>>22951100
Meanwhile, some of the repair crew don void suits and begin to repair the damage to the bridge, fixing up scanners, the observation windows, and broken consoles. Alas, Hadrak, while recovering well, isn't really in shape to help out. He does make himself a nice new brushed steel cane instead though. Sebastiano passes out again once he reaches the medbay, but his ribs are set and don't look like they've destroyed any of his organs. Hadrak, in the cot next to him, begins to plot how best to replace his limbs.

Within the hour the crew have recovered the scanners, and report; the planet below is indeed the one they were supposed to arrive at. Karras should be waiting down below, in one of the many bunkers and fortresses located throughout. There is no response to hails though; something is jamming the signal. A few hours later, Sebastiano has a new left arm, and a new right leg. The leg has knives, built in holsters and ammo holding compartments, and extra power, and even looks organic to boot. Berold is scared. He's scared of the huge cyborg who they killed. He's scared that they never truly checked if he was dead. He's scared that there's more of them that are coming for the acolytes. He's scared that this is what his life is going to become. Before he wasn't scared. But now he has to protect someone who isn't himself. And that's terrifying. Eventually she gets him to snap out of it, and they go to dinner, nicely dressed once more. Their conversation doesn't take long to turn from playful and flirty to cold and planning, as they begin to think about getting planetside to Karras. "No. Illogical. Soldiers died protecting acolytes. Acolytes will give lives delivering package. Package is first priority. Cannot waste time. We shall not attend."

The sergeant looks unhappy by this, but accepts without complaint. The soldiers are interred in metal coffins, and the only ones who show up to the funeral are their squadmates. >>22951279
Despite the fact that it's quite possible those soldiers saved his and Sebastiano's life, Hadrak doesn't mention them, or even think of them again. Mere numbers in his head, a few more lives lost among the billions that vanish into the nether every day.

>>22951293
The others, however, feel differently. Ellyn and Kirstin are furious with Berold and Nora respectively for skipping out on the dead, and show up to the funeral alongside the squad to pay their respects. And in everyone's mind except Hadraks, the losses suffered are remembered.

24 hours after entering realspace, thanks to the technology and first aid available, Sebastiano is back on his feet (recovering to the shock at his swapped limbs quite quickly, although not happy with Hadrak for it), and Hadrak gathers them all up in the medbay to discuss how they plan on reaching Karras down below, in what appears to be a warzone.

For what it's worth, anti-air emplacements around the last-known position of Karras are pretty much non-existent, as far as he can tell.

There weren't any anti-air emplacements, but there *were* fighta bomba squadrons. In a run of bad luck, one of them spots the lander, and opens fire. Traditional Ork marksmanship almost saves them, but a missile hits and the lander takes a nosedive. Luckily, Hadrak is a better pilot than it would seem, and manages to expertly land on three points in a small clearing in a dense jungle. They're off target, by about 80 kilometres, but at least once they patch the lander up they have a ride out of here. While they do this, Kirstin gets on the vox and begins to transmit across all channels, saying that she's a guardsman who needs to get to a bunker (it's true, technically). Eventually, someone picks up; it's a voxman from the bunker where Karras is! She explains the mission they have, and after confirming that an Inquisitor Karras is indeed there, he reads out coordinates to her, warning her to stay off the vox for fear of Orks intercepting communications, and says that they'll open up the bay doors for her once she arrives, but no sooner, for fear of attack.

A few minutes later they arrive, and as promised the doors, in the ground and concealed by layers of dirt and even plantlife, slide open. They barely clear the entrance when they slam shut again, and Hadrak lands in the bay. A man in power armour (not a space marine), flanked by two more with carapace armour, and all with large, fancy looking rifles are waiting as the acolytes disembark. He meets a few of the more elite ones, or ones who have particular merit or performances though.

Hadrak realizes the possibility of this being a false recording, and loudly breaks into a coughing fit. Karras pauses his monologue to ask why he just coughed. Hadrak dismisses it, hands the vox back, and says that yes, he is satisfied.

Nora's been holding onto the box, fully welded shut by Hadrak, and gives it over. The acolyte thanks them. "What about our payment, and next orders?" asks Kirstin.

"Karras doesn't have anything readied for you yet. How did you arrive? You can leave the same way, presumably. You're sleeper agents, for the moment, until something else comes along. Settle down somewhere for a few weeks, travel the galaxy, it does not matter to me or the Inquisitor. As for payment, the guards will get you that. It'll be enough to survive for a fair while, but if you end up sleeping for more than 2 months or so, you'll need to get yourself a job. Follow them, then you may leave."

If you truly wish to, you may stay, but I fail to see how it may make a difference, and you shall not be recompensed for it." With that, he leaves, and some guards bring over a chest, with a few hundred throne's worth for everyone. It's a bit less than it would have been if Nora and Ellyn hadn't joined, but it's still a decent amount, enough for a month or two.

fuck...umm... rolling for clean getaway again
>>
Rolled 10, 6 = 16

If only you didn't make the second roll. Rolling for the only one to have seen it to be sebs, who has been getting used to hadraks thefts.

the dice don't want us to leave this planet it seems... could it be we have unfinished business that previously fell into the upper atmosphere?

Rolling for the guards to let him have whatever he took as a bonus.
>>
>>22951968
clean getaway as in fly away from planet safely, not for successful theft, the 19 got that
>>
Rolled 12, 19 = 31

>>22951975

Someone already rolled for that
>>22951933

Rolling for this clusterfuck to not matter.
>>
>>22951914
>I figured this was a given so forgave you for the bad roll. Honestly couldn't think of a way to screw up.
Hadrak takes a look through the scans, and awaits an optimum time to leave to avoid any other air patrols.

>>22951932
Sebastiano bothers one of the guards about further pay due to their troubles, and only gets a chuckle out of him as he (she?) walks away.

Hadrak tries to nick a weapon from one of the guards. He almost gets away with it too, but the guy notices his lack of sidearm. Hadrak gets punched in the face for his trouble, but the lead acolyte stops the guard before things go much further. Eventually he convinces the guy to give him the sidearm anyway, and the soldier walks off grumbling.

>>22951933
Hadrak recognizes an appropriate time to head back to the ship when he sees one, passes a warning to the acolyte about the dangers of what's in the box, then takes the lander back up and out. The ship's name is whatever /tg/ wants to call it.

Once out in space, Hadrak continues to upgrade it while the others get some rest and relaxation. Sleeper agents now... they can do whatever they want, go wherever they please, until someone hands them that magical dataslate with another job. What to do with this newfound freedom?

>Congratulations, you finished your first job as acolytes and transformed this into a game of rogue trader for a few chapters!

>/tg/ can decide what they want to name the ship at this point

>Also one more round of actions then this chapter is done methinks, then can just shoot the breeze about what you'd like to see as rogue traders, and other things

>Also anyone want to say what they think these characters look like? Aside from Sebastiano's left arm, right leg and right eye and Hadrak's cane, I/you have been nonspecific about their looks. Descriptions, drawings if you feel inclined, things like that would be nice. I kinda wanna see what /tg/ thinks they all look like, how close it is to what it's like in my head.

Rolling to name the ship. LumberingGunboat

Also rolling for them to find a nice paradise planet, with a forgeworld for a moon.
>>
>>22952001
The Lumbering Gunboat it is! Surprisingly accurate name considering what it looked like by this point in my head.

>Only an 11
>Compromise
>A forgeworld, which is pretty much paradise to our tech priest
>Although I was thinking more a freedom of exploration type thing, rogue trader style
>But visiting a forge world or paradise planet is totally an option
>Anyway
>>
Rolled 8, 20 = 28

>>22952019

Was thinking forgeworld because they still need to fix up hadrak, and sebs is far from complete. The paradise was for the couples.
>>
>>22952019
I was thinking of returning the soldiers to their original ship somehow, if it's at all possible.
>>
Rolled 12, 5 = 17

>>22952032
also I think they should pick up some really heavy ordnance for the Lumbering Gunboat, preferably somthing bigger than the ship itself. Also maybe the forge world is in the same system as a paradise world?

rolling for the arms

For some reason, I suspect they may not be too fond of the captain. Just saying.
>>

They already had above average gear.
>>
>>22952032
They meet up at the bridge to discuss where to next, while pulling up maps of the sector to look around. Ellyn and Kirstin point out a relatively nearby paradise planet while smiling at their respective significant others, while Hadrak alternates between eyeing a forge world, and Sebastiano, rationalizing in his head that they'll need heavy ordnance.

>>22952033
>>22952061
Meanwhile, the soldiers have approached Hadrak, and politely but firmly requested to "take them back home". Any ship in the Navy will do, but they do not wish to serve on this one anymore. He looks like he wants to force them to stay aboard, but Nora takes him aside and convinces him to get them back to where they came from.

They pull out of orbit of the planet, in case an ork hulk comes around and attacks, and upon reaching a safe distance can relax once more. Berold and Ellyn go back to the range together, brushing up on their shooting. Nora and Kirstin plan out jumping routes with Hadrak, insisting on spending at least a week on that paradise planet. Sebastiano continues to hit on female crewmembers, succeeding a decent portion of the time.

Somewhere down there, a group of ork kommandos find a hunk of metal and flesh, burnt up something terrible from atmospheric entry, barely living. They drag it back to camp and the warboss to see what he has to say about it. They leave it in a tent on the outskirts while they go to tell him what they found. When they bring the boss back, it's gone, not even leaving a trail of footprints to indicate where in the jungle it disappeared.

FUCK-

Alright, alright, it's not as bad as it could have been. STILL PANICKING, THOUGH.

Anyway, rolling for upgrades all around, in alphabetical order of surname.

Kirstin and Nora find some alone time on the ship. Which they use for lots of sex, because damn have the rolls been against them having alone time so far.

the guys deserve a break, so paradise planet first gets my vote, then after a couple of weeks go to the forge world and get The Lumbering Gunboat kitted out with much dakka

Rolling for Berold and Ellyn.
>>
>>22952177
Kirstin and Nora catch up, profusely apologizing for earlier problems, and sharing the last bottle of their fine wine, before heading up to the room that they now share. Fade to black.

>>22952194
Ellyn meanwhile invites Berold to her's after a day at the range. This time though, he doesn't end up leaving early in the night, and they come out the next morning holding hands and looking satisfied. Berold in particular looks happier than anyone's ever seen him before, and for the next few days they aren't seen anywhere without the other.

>>22952174
>11, 9, 11, 5, 7, 5
>Abajian, Berruti, Ciarra, Fritzen, Hinfalliger, Schuster
Hadrak finishes his upgrade to make himself completely void-immune, with emergency heaters in case of cold temperature. Also, as an act of goodwill towards their newest member, he takes the old beat-up rifle of Ellyn's (without her knowing of course), gives it a few tweaks, fixes it up so it doesn't need duct tape anymore, and removes the scratches before putting it back. He doesn't say he did it. She knows it was probably him, but avoids giving him flak about missing the funeral of the soldiers after that.

And that's it for today! Probably going to continue Thursday at 9AM GMT again. I know, it's a while, but I'm busy this week, sorry :/

As always, pleasure writing for you, and see you next time!
