Distortion could be an indicator of corruption. Just like how the heavier/blacker metal is, the less distinct the vocals and notes are.

Slayer is pretty black (content wise), but you can still hear the lyrics, so they'd be like neutral lords of underworld.

Distortion wouldn't really contribute to good or evil i guess, so the general chaoticness of whatever. Beasts with extra limbs sticking out their backs and mindfuckery deathgrowls.
