Welcome back to another edition of Harvest Moon Quest. As we left off last time, the day of first harvest had arrived.

~~~
You wake up early today, a sense of urgency pulling you out of your bed. Getting out of bed is difficult though, with the two girls on top of you still sleeping. As quietly as possible you make your exit and dress yourself.
You leave your nice little house, and head out into your field. Today is the day you get to see the fruits (vegetables) of your labour. True, the girls have been helping, but still. You take off your burlap sack, and bend down to dig out some potatoes.
Your hand pierces the rich, dark soil. Strongly questing for the tubers, aggressively snaking through the ground. Suddenly, a hardness obstructs you. You deftly move your fingers around it, and squeeze it. It gives slightly, a faint pressure revealing it to be no simple rock. You clench it in your hand, and with a mighty tug, you reveal your masterpiece to the wide world, a firm Yukon Gold Potato.
~~~

An hour later, you're fairly sure you're done harvesting. The girls woke up, and have been marveling over the size of your spuds. They are easily bigger than your fist.

Daliah speaks first. "So big! This is so strange. I saw the potatoes that these are descended from, and they were hardly half this size. This doesn't make any sense at all."

Melissa chimes in, "Truly, I have never seen anything like these. I wonder what caused them to grow so large."

Daliah looks at her darkly. "It seems everything grows large around you. Perhaps you are the reason."

You sigh. Daliah has made little effort to conceal her jealousy of Melissa's assets. It hasn't come to blows, but it's embarrassing.

Melissa takes it straight, however. "Perhaps you're right. I don't know how, but it seems like everything goes right for me sometimes."

You wonder, sack in hand, if there might be something to that.

1d100 for perception, ya'll.

Well now.

Nice.

You consider the facts before you. Melissa has uncanny control over her animals. She's always calm, and she is extremely well proportioned, almost statuesque. And then another thing comes to you. The night you met her, you'd been speared through the gut, and then spent two days on the road with no first aid, and you didn't die. You healed completely in five days with nothing more than bandages. There's hardly a scar.

You turn to Daliah. "Daliah, name off all the Relics you can think of that deal with fixing things, or making things right, specifically."

Daliah looks confused, but spits out an answer.

"There is only one. Providence. It is said Providence makes all things within a certain distance of it as they should be."

You don't feel you need to ask the followup question, but you do anyways.

"And what form does Providence take, Daliah?"

Her eyes widen, and then narrow, as her head snaps to Melissa.

"A staff. Providence is a staff."

Melissa looks thoroughly confused. "What Relics are you talking about?"

"Relics of the Harvest Goddess. Apparently magical objects with different properties. I'd normally have scoffed at the idea of magic, but there's definitely some evidence pointing towards it.
"They're...sort of an inheritance for Daliah."

Aw, fuck. This is going to turn into a fight between the two, isn't it?
>>
Some time later, you're heading in to town to sell your potatoes. You prevented Daliah from flat out killing Melissa, but the two of them are going to spend a great deal of time talking it out in your house, and you didn't want to be anywhere near that.

It's a nice day, but you're carrying well over 200 pounds of potatoes, and the going is slow. You plod into town a few hours after lunch, and hit the general store.

Therse greets you as you enter, and her mother Thorse helps you with your load. The two of them are astonished at the display of your vegetables, and clap happily. You wind up getting a pretty penny from them, more than you thought you would. It seems this town is hard up for even basic produce.

[X] explore the general store for items

I'm hoping we kept a fair bit of potato to make vodka. If we don't find a pot still sort of thing here it'll be easy to find a copper pot and a blacksmith to get the spigoty bit.

Also, we should pick up a book for Daliah, the girl would love one.

Pic related, that's how simple a pot still is.
>>
You decide to take a peek around the store. You don't have much in the way of creature comforts, and you'd kind of like your home to feel more like a home.

You ask Therse to find you some items that are practical for farming, and Thorse to find some other items you might like, using her own discretion.

The two of them return with the following items.

[ ] A book entitled "The Female Samurai". A quick browse reveals it to be partial romance, partial exploration of swords arts.
[ ] A fermentation kit. You'd never have expected to find on of these here. It's a barrel, with a few cloth bags of what they assure you is yeast. Some glass bottles accompany the kit.
[ ] A small bracelet with bell charms. Pretty.
[ ] A small sign that can be planted at the edge of your farm, for you to name it. They will engrave any name you want on the sign.
[ ] A larger rucksack. Simple enough, but you never know when you'll need to carry more stuff.
[ ] A long knife, with intricate engraving up and down the blade.

Pick three.
>>
>>24614971

hmmm.
assuming we are trying to keep both girls happy at this point in time...
Fermentation Kit will make Melissa happy due to alcohol...
Daliah might like 'The Female Samurai', though she may already have it...

For the third item, I suggest the Knife. A good knife is a boon to any who work in agriculture due the versatility of which it can be used... that and it would be nice to practice Whittling...

I know, you can always use wild yeast, either from grape skins or just hanging out in the air, but they're unpredictable and unreliable, we'll set up a yeast culture when we get back home. Just take some malt from our wheat, mix with warm/hot water, toss in some yeast, and let it sit somewhere dark for a while and we'll have all the yeast we could want.

[X] A larger rucksack. Simple enough, but you never know when you'll need to carry more stuff.

You opt for the two things for the girls, and the knife for yourself. Upon closer inspection, the blade reads "Mobutu Sese Seko Nkuku Ngbendu Wa Za Banga". You'll have to ask Daliah for a translation, as the shopkeepers have no idea. You thank them and bade them goodbye.

Before you head back to the farm with the goods, you hit the seed store. Might as well get it all done in one go. The owner greets you gladly, and shows you all the neat new things you can grow in the summer.

[ ] Strawberries
[ ] Watermelons
[ ] Pumpkins
[ ] Other

Pick as many as you want, they will be divided evenly.
>>
>>24615226
Tomatoes if we have the weather for it, Pumpkins as they're absurdly versatile and delicious, we should obviously keep up on our potato/wheat production.

Some strawberries would be nice, better than watermelons as we can make the strawberries into preserves/jam which is both delicious and keeps for a long time.

If possible we should pick up the three sisters, squash, corn, and climbing beans because we can plant all three in the same place and they all benefit each other. This of course depends on our weather.
>>
>>24615226
Pumpkins are easy to grow, so they should be no problem.
See if we can get some turnips, since they'll help re-nitrogenate the soil after the potatoes.
And of course, more potatoes, since they're a good staple crop and can be planted in a new field.

Look man, we've got to get a steady crop rotation going, and a steady source of income. We need to consider what the town needs rather than what it wants.
Pumpkins produce a nutritious fruit, and the seeds can be made into oil.
Turnips re-nitrogenate the soil and can be fed to livestock as feed, as well as keeping for a long time.
Potatoes - 'nuff said.
Strawberriers at least can be made into preserves for the winter.

We need all of these, and we need to go into the mountains and find ourselves a colony of bees to transplant into our apiary.
>>
>>24615499
Strawberries can make pie, or we can make a nice meat pie from some animal.

Apples would work but it takes a long fucking time to get an seed to a productive tree.

There's sure to be wild blackberries and the like nearby, so if we just want a couple pies and not a huge production we can just go out with our bitches and get some of them berries to make into delicious pie.
>>
>>24615477
Watermelons don't really need flat and regular terrain though, we could just plant a few off of the field by the river and let them run wild.

We should also think about getting some fruit trees going since they require a lot of time to get established. Would we need to put them on our existing fields?

You pick a variety of crops, exchanging croptalk with the uncannily knowledgeable shopkeep. Waving goodbye, you make your leave.

~~~
As you approach your farm again, laden with goods, your ears are open for sounds of trouble. You've been gone for well over four hours, but you aren't sure how well Daliah will handle her emotions on her own. You don't hear anything, and there's a candlelight coming from the window of your house, so you enter with cautious optimism.
As you enter, you see the two girls sitting at the table, looking rather tired. Red eyes and slouched postures abound. They note your return, but don't say anything.
"Well fine, I guess I'll just go return your gifts, then."
This seems to lighten the mood. Daliah makes an inquisitive noise, and Melissa says "Gifts? You didn't buy me a gift, did you master?"
You smile. Turning to Daliah first, you tell her to close her eyes and open her hands. She does so implicitly, and you place the thick book in her hands. Her face twitches, and a look of knowing crosses her brow. She opens her eyes and falls off her chair, clutching the book to her chest. She nuzzles the book, making strange noises. You take it she's had her eye on this book for a while, and leave her to her autism.
You see Melissa looking at your backpack with curiosity. "Now Melissa, I don't want to disappoint you, but this gift has to stay on this farm. It's a gift for you that makes gifts for you, if you understand."
She doesn't understand, but the look on her face is pure bliss when you reveal the kit. Her lip trembles a bit, and she leans forward and hugs you, putting her head beside yours. God she's tall. "Thank you so much, master. Thank you so much.", she whispers tremulously.
You assure her it was nothing, but mention the need to collect some honey soon to start mead production. This seems to galvanize her.
"We'll plant the seeds tomorrow, and the day after that we'll go to the mountains and collect a beehive. No later!"
>>
>>24615655
What's the point of having a cat if we don't have a barn of stores that demand a cat to keep the vermin in check?
Really, if there's no barn, there's no need for a cat. And we don't need a dog if we don't have animals to protect or herd. These animals (especially the dog) need a purpose to justify feeding.
>>
>>24615731
We have animals, the dog has been assisting Melissa with her herd.
As for the cat, we have that because we rolled a 100.
>>
>>24615731
The dog spends most of its time with Melissa's herd, and the cat while it protects stores of food, which we'll get eventually, I mean we've had one harvest so far, also keeps the field free of critters like moles who fuck with our fields and any small vermin going after growing crops. It's also adorable.
>>
She doesn't seem to be willing to flex on this, so you let it stand.
Daliah seems to have recovered some, and you take time to ask her what your knife says.
She inspects it briefly, and bursts out laughing. "This is a 'real mans' knife, Keith, good job."
"Okay, but what does it say?"
"The all-powerful warrior who, because of his endurance and inflexible will to win, goes from conquest to conquest, leaving fire in his wake."
You start, "But that sounds like a Relic!", but Daliah cuts you off. "Sorry Keith, no Relics have been recorded as knives. Don't worry though, I'll protect you if you ever need it. You can cut me an apple with that cute little thing sometime though!"
She continues laughing, souring your mood for the night. It's a very nice knife.
~~~~~

The following day, you all spend a fair amount of time planting the crops. It takes much less time with all of you working together, but still no small amount of time. It passes in relative silence, though once in a while Daliah will mock your knife, which you have hanging at your belt.

You turn to Daliah, tired of her shit. You thrust your hips out and exclaim, "Melissa thinks it's big enough. And furthermore, I think you're the one compensating for something." You pat your chest. "We're practically twins!"

That shuts her up, though you worry about the expression on her face.

The next day you are awoken at the asscrack of dawn by a splash of water in your face. You splutter awake, and see Daliah and Melissa fully dressed and ready to go adventuring.

"What the hell Daliah!", you exclaim. She merely sniffs and turns her head away. She must still be mad about yesterday. She watched you fall asleep last night, worryingly.

Melissa speaks softly, "Let us be off Keith, we're going to the mountains, and we need to leave now to get there in any decent time."

Oh that's right, you were going beehunting.

You get out of bed, wipe the water from your face, and get ready to go. The three of you ride Melissa's onagers down the road to the mountain trail.

>>
Alright so how much more space have we cleared out since we last planted?

We won't be planting potatoes again for a while but I did remember another trick. When potatoes grow on the plant the tubers don't actually come from the roots of the plant, they come from the "branches" that are buried underground. That's why if you look at a potato farm the soil will be piled up around the plant in a mound. Sometimes people at home with not a lot of space plant potatoes in a barrel for this reason.

Ten minutes later you're down the road, with Melissa pressed close to your back, head on your shoulder, making cutely embarrassed conversation. You can feel Daliah bristling though you don't look at her. This is a good way to spend a few hours.

You make it to the foot of the mountains just after lunch. You spent much of the last hour feeding Melissa over your shoulder, much to her chagrin. The mountains are impressive, and you can see the marks where peoples past had mined for various things. You dismount, and assist Melissa in doing the same. You spend much of the evening pulling stingers out of yourself, and being mad.

Daliah found a beehive first, evidently, and she called out to you sweetly. In hindsight, too sweetly. She thumped the hive as you arrived and took off. From this you have learned that she's self conscious about her chest, and probably shouldn't mention it anymore.

You do recover a moderately sized beehive as soon as Melissa walks over though, as they all cease stinging you, and return to the hive, even allowing her to harvest it from the tree. It seems what Daliah said about the staff being a general "wellbeing" maker is true. Melissa puts the hive in your bag, and leads your puffy ass back to the donkeys.

On the way home, just after leaving, Daliah's donkey trips on a stone. You're starting to get suspicious of outside influences on this one. The ass can still walk unburdened though. So it comes to be that you have Melissa pressed up even closed behind you, and Daliah sitting facing you to "prevent any perverted thoughts" on your part.

The fact that you're sitting with faces inches apart doesn't seem to bother her any, but it's a little much for you, especially long term. You have the setup for mead, just have to wait a season for the honey to present itself.

Do you really want to have two kinds of alcohol going? That's fine, I mean, just, are we planning on making a full scale boozefactory?
>>
>>24616834
>Daliah and Melissa are now fully aware of you as a man. Any actions with them will now involve consideration of your relationships
Dammit, you guys just had to roll, didn't you.

We sold all of the potatoes so we can't get anything fermented yet, and the wheat isn't ready.

>>24616878
No, we don't have the resources to support that and ourselves yet.

Besides regular farm work, we should collect wood, and fish.
>>
>>24616878
Clearly we will have a full scale boozefactory at some point
>>
>>24616878
Well mead takes forever, though we should probably hold off on trying for booze until the wheat is done as we can't do a lot of stuff without malt because potatoes don't have the enzymes needed. Even when making potato vodka we need some malted wheat.

>>24616834
Hmm, keep on attending to our farm, make sure none of our stuff is getting hit by critters, start digging an irrigation ditch for our fields so watering stuff is easy.
>>
Now we have to figure out how to get the two girls to like us.

I say we take each of them on a date, just to be safe.
>>
I'm about 50% sure I want to start plowing one or both of the girls.

OP keeps blueballing me with shoujo shit, and I'm going to start hatefucking my pillow at some point.

CAN WE PLEASE JUST FUCK ONE OF THEM AND GET BACK TO FARMING?
>>
>>24617007
I want both, and that takes a bit of delicacy and tact.
>>
>>24616958
We took Deliah on a date already, so we should probably take Melissa on a date.

And now we have to take this whole relationship thing seriously, because if either one of the girls is angry at us, it'll fuck up our crops and the farm.
The bitches have us by the balls now, because without either one our farm is FUCKED.

>>24617007
>JUST FUCK ONE OF THEM AND GET BACK TO FARMING
No, because our bad rolls now means that our productivity is tied to their happiness.
>>
Given the recent incident, you give the girls some space over the next few days and dedicate yourself to hard farm labour.

You buy a cheap axe from the general store and begin clearing trees from around the farmland. You build a sizable pile of cordwood for the winter, over the course of a few days you have enough for three winters. You eventually tire of this.

You decide to switch to something else. You start picking up large rocks, as large as you can manage, and placing them in the newly cleared land. This continues for several days until you run out of rocks.

+2 muscle tone.

~~~~
The two girls have been watching you for the last week, tending to the crops, and talking between themselves. You haven't said much to them, and certainly haven't looked them in their eyes.
~~~~

After a long day of makework, this time involving tilling the fields you don't plan on planting for another few months, you bathe in the river. You smell terrible, and you feel like the girls are horrified enough by your presence now that you could at least clean yourself.

The water is cold, and the sun is down, but there's a certain peacefulness to it. You sit on some rocks, and immerse yourself up to your neck. The sounds of the river take over your mind. The sound of wind rushing through the grass, the babble of the eddy meeting the stream full strength, the rustle of the trees. You close your eyes, and hear more rustling. A few fish jump, one on either side of you. One of them says "brr". A cork is pulled from something.

You pause. Fear fills your mind. You pray you aren't hearing what you're hearing. All you want to do is farm and stuff. You've proven you can't handle the girls, what could they possibly be here to do?

You feel a hand touch your right shoulder, then work it's way down to your hand. Your hand is lifted out of the water, and a cup is placed in it. You drink instinctively, without opening your eyes. A thick firewater burns all the way down.
>>
>>24617193
Yay, booze!
>>
You choke, having just ingested easily eight ounces of hard, hard liquor. In the back of your head, you wonder how much the last barrel of liquor cost at the pub, and why they spent the money on you.

With great trepidation, you open your eyes. Straight ahead of you, you see the other bank of the river. You look right, and see Daliah immersed up to the neck in black water. She looks at you impassively. You slowly turn your head left. Melissa sits much higher in the water, even as she slouches slightly. The water barely allows her modesty.

You open your mouth, and then close it. You raise your glass again, and close your eyes. Daliah fills it wordlessly. You drink. You raise it half as high again. She half fills it, you drink that, then hold the glass out to her. She takes it, and by the sound, puts it on the bank.

Still with your eyes closed, you lean back against the rocks. You open your mouth again, and slurr slightly.

"I want you two to know that you're very important to me. Really important. Without you, I wouldn't be alive, I wouldn't be successful, and I wouldn't be happy."
The words come easier than you imagined.
"I want you to know that you're both in my head all the time. I know I upset you both the other night with my...problems in the outhouse. I'm sorry. It was out of my hands. Not really... but...." You trail off. You stretch your arms out to both sides, gently grabbing the girls by the shoulders, and drawing them closer. The strong drink makes you calmly bold.

With a gentle hold on them, you open your eyes and continue.

"I just want to live my whole life like this. I want to wake up in the morning, work on the farm, have adventures with you two, and then watch the light fade with you. I want to watch the stars come out, and enjoy a drink or three. I want to listen to the world turn, and imagine all the seasons yet to come."
>>
You finish up.

"I want the three of us to be inseparable. Daliah, I need you around to keep me in line. You're the smartest person on the farm, and the deadliest. Melissa, I want you to stay around to keep us all in balance. You're the X factor that makes us successful. I don't know what I bring to the table for the two of you, and I'll understand if you want to leave now. You're both as young as I am, and you can do whatever you want with your lives, no need to tie yourselves to a simple farmer. But for right now, I just want to sit like this, in the river with you, and pretend my life will always be this way."

The girls call you an idiot, almost in unison.

Daliah starts. "Do you think I came here and bared myself before you because I wanted to tell you it was over? Who the hell do you think I am? You risked your life to save me, three days after we met. You should be dead right now, but for Melissa, and it's all my fault, and yet you've never taken me to task for it. I know I'm a burden sometimes, but you're always gracious about it. I'm throwing my lot in with yours not because I have to, or because I can't do better, but because I want to. I slipped herbs in my father's tea so I could sleep with you undisturbed for the last four weeks. He complains of constipation." You had been wondering where Hamad was at night.

Melissa musically chimes in. "As much as Daliah owes you her life, I owe you mine as well. Allowing me to escape the village, preventing Daliah from killing me at first, and protecting me in general since then. More than that though, I owe you a debt of gratitude. You have largely shaped your farm to fit my selfish desire for alcohol. No request we have had of you has been too great. You did not leave home to cater to the whims of two women, and yet here you are on a farm that you admit openly is as much ours as yours. I will not have you shame me by denying me. I am not sharing a bed with a man I do not care for, or that I will abandon."
>>
You take this all in, warming from the liquor and the proximity of the girls. You feel them intensely.

Daliah speaks again. "We have been watching you work yourself from dawn until almost mid night this last week. You wish to restrain yourself against showing us your masculinity, and yet, why? Do you fear we will hate you for it?"

Again, Melissa, "Yes, is that it? Do you think we did not notice how you cared for us? The dip in the brand new bed? Do not think we did not notice the same carpenter who builds watertight wooden structures also strangely built a "defective" bed that places us on top of you every night. We know you love us, you fool. Why won't you just say it?"

I'm not going to make you roll for this one guys.

Just role for it. Role 100.

"Because I'm an idiot and didn't want to mess everything up. We had a good thing going, good honest work, good production, I got to sleep with both of you cuddling me, it wasn't everything I wanted, but it was pretty great and I didn't want to risk that.

I didn't want to force a rift between you two by fucking up. I didn't want to lose either one of you so I delayed and delayed until now because I was afraid.

But I can say it now, I love both of you, I want to be with both of you for as long as you'll have me.

And before you ask you're both absurdly hot in very different ways and I honestly have no idea how I'm managed the self control not to jump both of you."

Nice.

The sound of your voice echoes flat on the water, but not on the girls. Melissa is the first one to move, deftly swinging around to sit on your lap, facing you. If the water wasn't so cold...

"Tell me, Keith, is my form pleasing to you?" She blushes heavily, from modesty too slow to save her. And also no small amount of drink, you imagine. You gingerly move your left arm to embrace her, but Daliah isn't being left out. She wiggles her way onto Melissa's lap, and winds up laying down, so that you have to support her head with your arm. It's not the sexy pose she was probably going for, but having the two girls this close to you makes you unimaginably bold. You feel something build up inside you.

"Girls, I love you both, but I want to make honest women of you. Please, say you'll marry me before I lose control of myself. I don't have much left in me, honestly."
>>
>>24617766
The girls smile in unison.

"Oh, you're having trouble restraining yourself? Whatever for?", Melissa muses.

Daliah puts her face against yours. As she speaks, her lips brush yours. "You know Keith, if you marry the daughter of the Harvest Goddess, I may need to practice fertility rituals with you."

~~~
You run half mad, half naked all the way into town, and begin pounding on Hamad's door. He opens it groggily, and is confused by your drunken rambling state.
But eventually he gets the message that you want to marry his daughter, and also another woman.
"Such a thing is possible, Keith. But it hasn't been done in hundreds of years. You see, traditionally, there was only one such union at a time. To prevent women being taken advantage of in polygamist marriages. 'oh sure, I'll marry a girl ten years younger than me every five years out of love, right'."
You nod. He yawns.
"There was a set of three rings that the village used to signify that the union was truly blessed. And to ensure that the three worked well as a unit, the rings were always hidden in a dangerous location. The last couple of groups that attempted to recover them didn't come back. So...it's almost impossible. Daliah knows about this, I'm surprised she didn't tell you herself."
You don't want to mention that she was preoccupied, and you take your leave back to the farm.
>>
>>24617879
>The last couple of groups that attempted to recover them didn't come back.
That seems dangerously irresponsible for a town that's so strapped for population and has no way to increase it except via procreation.
>>
>>24617925
Shh, magic, roll with it.
>>
>>24617879
As you return to the farm, a candlelight beckons you to the house. You enter, and change into clothes that aren't cold and wet. Opening the bedroom door, you see that Melissa and Daliah made their way into bed, though it doesn't appear that they dressed, from the way the blankets lie.
