So, the truth comes out. I posted part one of your wedding night on pastebin, and was expecting a modest turnout. 135 hits later, I decided to add part two featuring Melissa. http://pastebin.com/edit.php?i=6M7BVxKJ

Enjoy, you Hentai.

~~~~~~
It's a beautiful morning, and you're on your way to the seed shop with a pocketful of silver, when you pass your cat. Well, Daliahs' cat, but you figure it's a little bit yours, as well. It's not acting as it usually does though, it seems to have a sense of urgency, as though it has a message to convey. You pause, curious.
You decide to see what the cat wants, it arrived under auspicious circumstances, so it might have other worldly knowledge or something.
The cat seems pleased that you stopped. It begins scratching out a box in the dirt, not something cats usually do, you note. The cat then points at you with it's paw, quite obviously. Also not a normal feline action. Then the cat points at the box, and then at the farm. Then back at the box. You begin to catch on. "The farm, right? That's the farm you've drawn." The cat holds your gaze a while, then gets back to the drawing. The cat scratches out the drawing, with some violence. Then she points at the sky. Then messes up the drawing some more, and points at the sky again. "Is there going to be a storm or something? How would you know that?" You look up to the sky, it looks clear. It's only around six or seven you surmise, but the sky is a radiant red.
Shaking your head, you pet the cat. "Thanks, lil' girl, I'll keep an eye out for the weather." The siamese cat seems to note your tone, and scratches your hand before leaving in what you take to be disgust.
[ ] Go talk to Daliah and Melissa about what happened, take some kind of action, (suggest an action)
You decide caution is the better part of valour.
You turn home and look for the girls inside. You find them both eating a simple breakfast at the table. You do your best to explain that the cat predicted a storm, without sounding insane.
They take it surprisingly levelly, and begin discussing it as though it were truth.
"You must go to town, Keith, and warn father. He will ensure the villagers prepare. If this is true, a bad storm could devastate the town, and we can hardly afford that. I will prepare the farm as best I can"
Melissa nods, "I will go to my farm and secure the animals in the barn, and try to ensure it's safety, then I will return here. We really should build a barn here, you know. I dislike having to leave you for so long every day."
She makes a good point, but you head out with a basic farewell.
~~~~

You reach Hamad's house, still early in the morning. Knocking on the door, you think of a way to convince him of something so silly, though the girls accepted your words as gospel. Either you're crazy or you all are. It's a warming thought. Hamad opens the door, with a sleepy look on his face. Upon seeing you, his face hardens somewhat. He's probably not too happy with you for shagging his daughter.

"Hamad, there may be a big storm coming, and I need you to prepare the village."

Roll d100 for conviction.

Hamad looks at you somewhat disbelievingly.

"And why do you think that, Keith?"

You explain what happened to you, and that Daliah sent you to spread the word. Hamad laughs loud and long.

"Oh, that's good. Tell you what boy, why don't you come back when your precious cat can turn dirt into gold, and we'll talk."

With that, he closes the door. What an ass. You're left to think on what to do next.

You're now responsible for the village in a way, moreso if you consider Daliah's nature.

You spend the whole, damn, day going around the town, telling people to board their windows, cover their crops, etc, etc. You stay at each house as long as it takes you to convince them, which is longer for some than others. The smith and the carpenter for example, know you fairly well, and heed your words. The tailor less so, and all the random families even less. You're now on the far end of town from your farm, and a menacing wind is blowing. The sky is dark, all of a sudden. You'd been too busy running around to notice the towering thunderheads spinning around. They aren't just black, they're purple. A few wet drops hit your face, and you can hear heavier precipitation in the near distance. Your farm is in the opposite direction, but you obviously can't outrun a storm.

A decent bit I would assume, but I far prefer standing in pile of water that'll get absorbed eventually by dirt to being above ground if it's absurdly windy or there's lighting coming down.
>>
>>24694380
it really depends on how well we've sealed it, but a root cellar isn't any good if it just floods when it rains, the crops stored there would mold.

You decide to run home, but to pass Hamad's house on the way to flip him off, and maybe lend a quick hand. As quickly as you set off, the weather intensifies. Soon, you're slicked in rainwater, and the wind picks up to an insane degree. You're being blown all across the path, luckily the wind is mostly at your back.

~~~
You reach Hamad's house, it's already boarded up. You suppose he saw the clouds before you did, but the wind is howling far too loud for him to have a chance of hearing you from inside.
This is bad. The storm is barely touching New Bounty yet, judging by the sky. And yet, you're slipping through mud ankle deep through the center of town. Houses are boarded, a testament to your perseverance, but that just means no one can see you in your plight. There's almost no light to see by now, other than the constant lightning bolts, and the deafening thunder drowns out your shouts for assistance as the rain threatens to drown you in a more literal sense. You trip in the thick mud, and go down to your knees, which quickly sink in. Supporting yourself on your hands, you look up, judging your options. The situation seems grim.
You see another flash of light from your sad position in the much, and the wind picks up. It almost seems angry, a thought that chills you. You sink a little deeper in the mud, and look up to survey your resting place. You can't see much through the rain, it's running through your eyes like you're staring into a showerhead. You raise a hand to shield your eyes. The wind picks up to a howl, and then you see a pillar of light approaching you. It's coming from somewhere down the road, and cutting straight up into the sky, splitting the pitch black clouds like a knife. You're in awe of what you're watching. Perhaps it's an angel come down to take you away. Maybe you've died, and this is what you get to see.
The pillar of light approaches you slowly, winding through the village. As it get closer, the storm closes in on you, almost screaming in fury. You're deafened by the assault on your senses, but you can't tear your eyes off of the sight before you. It's impossible.
The blinding light is assaulted by lightning constantly, and yet even heaven's fury has nothing on what you see. The two travelers on the ruined road continue their slow advance. One of them seems to notice you, and points. The other nods, teeth gritted in a rictus of concentration. The lightning becomes even more frequent, not letting up for more than a second as they close in on you, step by step. You see large sections of tree go whipping past you, branches that must weigh hundreds of pounds being thrown like cotton.
And yet, the two advance. The one in front clutching a staff in both hands, the source of the light that pierces the heavens. They grip it like it weighs a thousand pounds, and push it ahead of them as if it has some kind of resistance to it. The other stands at their back, pushing them forward. Both have a look of determination on their faces as though marching into hell, and perhaps rightly. But as they come even closer, you can see that the storm doesn't touch them at all. Neither of them are wet, and their clothes don't rustle in the intense wind.
>>
>>24695015
They must be using Providence. But will it burn out? Can we crawl towards them?
>>
Your wives finally reach you, half drowned in the mud, gasping for air against the torrential rain.
As they come within three paces of you, the storm stops. The rain stops falling, the wind stops beating you, the noise goes away. Melissa plants Providence deep in the muck next to you, and clings to it tightly. Daliah stoops down, and pulls you out of your hole, with seemingly little effort. You have no strength in your muscles anymore, so you lean on her. "You came for me, the two of you. You shouldn't have done that."
Daliah shakes you, sensing your weakness. "Shut up husband. Sometimes you over extend yourself in your heroism, and your wise wives know this. You would do well to thank us, instead of chastising us, but that can wait. Melissa has been exerting herself rather badly for you, we should get inside soon."
It's true, Melissa looks weary as though she'd been working all day with no rest. You didn't realize you could channel yourself into a relic, and likely she didn't either. Perhaps she discovered it out of necessity, or perhaps Daliah knew.
"Whatever you need, where should we go?"
Daliah considers this. "We shall simply break in to the clinic. It's not been used in many years, and it'll do nicely."
Melissa sense her cue, and pulls Providence out of the ground. "Lead on, Daliah, quickly."
~~~~~

The three of you reach the clinic, only five minutes away, Daliah kicks in the door in two tries, and you all pile in. Daliah closes and bars the door, and you all head into a corner away from windows, and fall to the floor.

You ask into the nature of the miracle that saved your soggy ass from the storm of the century. You always had wondered how people died in storms, it's just rain, you used to think.

"Ah, good question Keith." Melissa says wearily. "We sensed you might be in trouble when we saw the clouds, and you hadn't returned. I always carry Providence with me out of habit, as you know. As the storm began to pick up, I could feel my staff warming up, and if I focused a bit, the rain wouldn't touch us. As the storm grew stronger, the staff grew warmer, and I had to focus harder to keep up the effect. Eventually, something seemed to shift in me, and the light you saw began to radiate from the staff. At that point, I had to focus so much of myself into it that Daliah had to keep me moving forward. The rest is recent history."

Melissa closes her eyes, and leans in to your chest, snuggling. A well deserved rest, in your opinion.

Daliah continues. "It turns out that you can further power the Relics by donating some of your own essence to it upon it's request. I've felt similar things from Sow, before, though I ignored them. It seems logical that the other relics would be similar."

You nod. Those Relics are looking damn tasty all of a sudden. You bring Daliah into your huddle, and hold her against you.

"Thank you so much, both of you. I love you for what you do for me. Such selflessness will have to be repaid in full somehow."

With that, you wait out the rest of the storm in relative peace, minus a few shattered windows.

You decide to head home, on a route that takes you through part of the village. You want to see how your advice might have helped, before you go home to see the inevitable apocalypse unleashed on your own farm.

Broken glass is the most prevalent thing you notice. Some roofs are missing thatching, but otherwise homes are mostly undisturbed. There's a great deal of detritus though, tree limbs, dead forest animals, even a few stones that clearly did not come from the village. What the hell?

All the villagers that see you pass raise a cheer for you. You lift a hand in response, they cheer louder. It's an odd feeling.

~~~~
You finally reach your own farm, and are slightly dismayed by what you find. Your wheat is about half gone. Not laid down, or broken, just gone. Your tomato vines are gone. Your fields are littered with detritus. Your house sustained moderate damage, but there's a tree where your bedroom used to be. That's a scary thought.
This is going to be a lot of work, you think to yourself, but just then, someone claps you on the back.
You jump, startled. It's the carpenter. "Keith, you did us all a great service, you know. If you hadn't warned me, my timber would have all blown away, and my house would have been much worse off than yours is now. On that note, I'm building you a new house. Well, not just me, mind you. The town is building you a new house. Right now. Go check on your animals, and then head to the pub. Leave it all to me. HAHAHAHA"
With that, he shoos the three of you away, and begins making measurements with his hands and laughing. You faintly hear "And all the wood I need is right here!" as you leave.
~~~~

You pass about twenty men and women on the road to the pub, all heading to your farm. Each of them shakes your hand, and profusely thanks you. It's getting kind of embarrassing, honestly, but you're a polite fellow.

~~~
>>
You reach the pub, and sit down with Daliah. Melissa continues on to her farm, insisting on going alone. Daliah pulls out a book she picked up from the house before you left, and begins reading. The title on the cover is "Relics, a study." Occasionally she looks at you over the book.
>The Relics as we know them exist thusly.
A list follows. Notes, really.
>Risk, A ring, pairbonded to Reward, another ring. Risk allows the wearer to sense the location and mindset of Reward's wearer at all times. Risk itself is something of a gamble. The stories tell of it granting the bearer the ability to do things that the general public would classify as "bullshit". But only sometimes, apparently. It is a fickle relic, and not to be relied on.
>Reward, a ring, pairbonded to Risk. Reward allows it's bearer to gain greater benefits from their efforts. Where you would expect one of something, two will appear. Where you would expect something to be average, it is of superior quality. The caveat being that the bearer of Reward must have a significant hand in the process that is to bear fruit, proverbially speaking.
>Sisyphus, a pair of leather gloves. They seem to fit any wearer. The singular name and the plural nature of gloves has not been explained. The wearer of the gloves may redo one activity a day as though it had not been already done. Example Given, if one wearing the gloves made a social faux pas, they could utilize the gloves, and everyone present would forget the conversation had happened. It seems the gloves only allow for around two hours' time dilation. Experimenting is dangerous, obviously.
>These three relics were last known to be located in the mountains, precisely located...
Just then, the barkeep comes to your table and Daliah closes the book politely.
"You two, well, you three, you're heroes you know. You've more than made a name for yourselves around here, and we're not a town to forget our debts. Douglas let me in on a few secrets that he was going to add to your house, and let me tell you, you're going to love them. Anything I can do for you, just ask."
>>
You pause, then reply.
"Well actually, how'd you like a steady supply of liquor? I've got plans to begin production of vodka, with mead to follow, and with luck, honeyjack. Other varieties as my wives dictate." With a pat on Daliahs' head for emphasis you laugh.
The barkeep seems ecstatic. "You have no idea how long it's been since I've had someone sell me liquor. I'll buy everything you produce, everything. I'm sure you'll want to keep a bottle or two to yourselves, but everything else, please bring it here. It'd liven up the joint quite a bit."
He calls the waitress over again, to share the news. She laughs excitedly, and leans over your table facing you. A dangerous amount of cleavage is exposed, drawing your eye. And Daliah's. You look away quickly.
"I'd be ever so grateful if you'd do that Mister Keith, drunk patrons tip much better, you see."
Daliah grabs your arm, and loudly announces, "We've had a long night, we'd like to go rest in the room now, thank you."
She practically drags you upstairs and into the small room. She closes the door behind you, and shoves you onto the bed.
"So, it's only been a few days, and already you're looking at other women? You have TWO you greedy man, and still!?" She grunts in disgust, and looks down at her own meager chest in dismay.
We should track down the others, know where they are, put them either in good hands or somewhere safe.
>>
[X] We should still gather them, it'll be fine
>>
Once we start on the adventure path, forever will it dominate our destiny.
>>
>>24696749
That sounds like a vote for gathering them all, and just choosing not to use them all.
>>24696769
Doesn't mean we have to spend all our time doing it right away.
>>
>>24696677
Well, Firstly, None of us would have all of them at once. Secondly, if one of us starts getting affected by them, the other two should have little difficulty in restraining the affected and 'snapping them out of it'. Thirdly, we do not have to use them. Simply collecting them and storing them in a Vault beneath the Farm should suffice as It keeps their powers from those likely to be corrupted by them, and if the Key to the vault is cast into three separate, interlocking pieces, It would take the three of us in unison to re-open it, furthering the prevention of anyone being corrupted by their influences...
>>
>OP just introduced a chance based Deus ex Machina as one of the minor relics
Dude, this is going to shatter the world if we gather them all.
Yeah, this as well. We're not personally going to control them all at once; divided amongst three people, I think we'll manage to use them wisely.
but how did they get past our INDUSTRIAL PROCESS!?
>>
Yeah I vote for collecting them all and locking them up somewhere. We don't NEED to use them, but sometimes it can be handy to have a leg up when something odd occurs. (like that storm)
>>
With little hesitation, you speak.
"I think you can keep me in line if I go all Insane Warlord on you. You're easily the most dangerous person I know. I say we gather them all. Who knows? Maybe we can use them for good? All I want in life is to build a more beautiful world for my two dear wives to live in, how could that be corrupted?"
Daliah turns back to you. "So be it Keith, I bow to your judgement on this. Just remember, I will be very disappointed in you now, if we don't recover them all. There's more than one use for all the relics together. I have...ulterior motives for gathering them, shall we say."
That seems an odd way to phrase it.
"What happens if we gather all the relics, Daliah? Don't dance around something serious like this."
Daliah looks out the window again. "I suppose I can tell you, if anybody. If I...we, gather all the relics, I can destroy them, and release their essence. They can only be destroyed at the head of the river that runs through our farm. The river that is fed by the spring that Mother came from. I'll allow you to piece together what might happen next."
[ ] Deduce, lads.
Hug her. "It would be worth all the relics in the world if that could work. Let's do it."
1. Res her mother back in Goddess form.
2. Daliah ascends to become the new Goddess.
3. Our Child is imbued with the essence of the Goddess and grows into the new Goddess
4. New Bounty enters the Industrial Era...
5. Good End
6. ???????
7. Profit
>>
>>24696961
The insulated little bubble around this world pops, reconnecting it with the rest of reality.
The essence of the Harvest Goddess returns to the land where it belongs, no longer bound up in Relics to serve their holders alone.
The Harvest Goddess return, or reborn.
>>
>>24696961
If the essence of the Goddess is released, it'll reinvigorate the entire valley at the very least.
It may even take down the fog barrier.
>>
>>24696961
So it brings back a long dead Goddess which has most likely gone insane from not being able to truly die? Oh yeah, that sounds like fun.
>>
"You think we can bring your mother back? The Harvest Goddess? Daliah, that'd be worth any effort. Though I'm not sure I want more in-laws, your father is pretty annoying."
The last thing you say with an edge of humour, but Daliah turns and pounces on you, knocking you flat on the bed.
"Do not joke about this Keith, either help me unkill my mother, or do not!"
You embrace her tightly, "Shhh, of course. You don't still blame yourself, do you? You were a child. Let it go. We have a chance to right a wrong, and fix this world. From what you've told me, and what I've seen, this world has gone to shit since your mother had her divinity torn from her, and now we have a chance to fix it all! How could I deny not only you, but everyone alive?"
Daliah sits up, still straddling you. She flicks your nose gently, smiling. "What a noble husband I have. However shall I thank you?"
The door opens, without a knock, and Melissa enters. Seeing the two of you, she smiles a bit. "Just couldn't wait for the house to get rebuilt, I see. I wish I were as forward as you Daliah, perhaps then Keith would ravage me so."
~~~~~~

You spend the night at the pub, and head home in the morning. It's only been 24 hours, but there were a lot of people doing the work, so there might have been some progress.

You're shocked at what you see, though.
>>
Douglas the Carpenter stands shouting orders at a veritable mob of townsfolk. Trees in a mile in every direction have been felled. A barn has been erected, though unpainted. A proper Silo stands next to it. John the Smith has dragged an anvil to your farm, and is hammering steel next to a makeshift forge. Nails and the like are being pumped out rapidly. Villagers scurry to and fro, lifting frames here, laying floor there, clearing your fields and more.

You stand, struck dumb by the level of progress that has occurred in a day, until one of the villagers notices you and drops his wood. He raises a hand a shouts "Hey Keith!"

With that, you're surrounded by sweaty villagers each trying to show you their own little piece of handiwork. Douglas gives more detailed tidbits on each tour stop.

"You see here, we've rebuilt your two room house with sturdier beams. The walls are thicker too. And it's not a two room house anymore. There's four, as you can see. An indoor bath with a glass ceiling was a personal touch from the Glazier. He agreed to forgo all the work in the village for this project, gladly. HAHAHAH"

You're stunned. Your house is almost huge now, and it's got all the creature comforts you could expect at this tech level. You pause on that for a moment. There seems to be water running into and out of your bath through a couple of drains in the wall.

Douglas notices your gaze and laughs, characteristically. "You like that eh? World first, running water in the bath! We diverted a small part of the river, do you like it?"

You nod silently, still stunned.

~~~~
Melissa's animals have all been moved into your new barn, and your dog is there too. She finally got her wish to be able to stay closer to you. Melissa is cooing over the animals, and inspecting the new barn. Daliah is looking at the spare room in the house and arranging her books. You're standing at the edge of your farm with Douglas.
>>
>>24697398
"Douglas, I have no words. I'm beyond touched. Thank you, to you and to everyone."
>>
"Well boy, we've done all we can. It's a bit late in the season to plant crops now, though a few trees could take before winter if you like. Were I you, I'd just go mining for money at this point. I know it's a setback, but after winter comes spring, and I feel like you're going to be thrice as productive as you used to be, now!"
With a firm, firm handshake, he parts.
You think on his words. It is a bit late to plant now.
Try to find out if there are any cinnamon, cocoa, or rubber/latex trees around. If so, plant some.
Either way, it'd be worth a return trip to the swamp. *With* our wives this time.
And then let's start thinking about the relics.
>>
>>24697473
>three tropical trees
>temperate mountains
>>
>>24697498
This. I'm flexible, but some shit just won't work.
>>
>>24697551
We don't need rubber precisely. Quite a huge variety of trees produce latex in various forms; it's just a variation on sap. We'll settle for anything suitable.
>>
>>24697473
A most excellent idea.
>>24697498
>>24697551
Technically, Banana trees are also tropical, but In the series, you could grow those in the 'temperate mountain' village...
>>
>>24697551
we could do it with a proper greenhouse, but not on the scale required for industrialization
Cinnamon might work though, the stuff we eat is just the bark iirc, so it's actually sustainable what with us not needing to cut the trees down
>>
>>24697577
Yeah, this setting does seem moderately flexible in that regard, and we do have some supernaturally good growth conditions.
>>24697583
We're not looking for mass industrialization yet. It's a small town. A small grove is more than enough for our purposes.
>>
>>24697583
Eww, cinnamon.
Anise better.
>>
>>24697498
>>24697551
>>24697583
Basically, what I'm saying is that we're going to need a bunch more work and a relic or two before we can do that sort of thing.
>>
>>24697551
Start simple then, apples and cherries? Apples are pretty tough but cherries are one of those crops where you basically pray it doesn't rain near the end Otherwise the entire crop can be ruined because the cherries will soak up the water and expand, causing them to split open.
>>
>>24697610
Depends on what you're making, but liquorice has a rather overpowering flavor.
>>
>>24697622
Apples sound good. I'm just hoping for some dual-purpose crops, that help with things other than food.
>>
>>24697398
>World first, running water in the bath
These poor poor people. They clearly have been cut off for some time
>>
>>24697446
[X] Trees
HURR DURR DURIANS
But seriously, Apples and Pears should be easy to get a hold of. Persimmons, Plums, Pommegrantes and Olives to a lesser extent. I really want to get my hands on Peaches, but they originated in China, I think. Then again since we have Slavs living a stone's throw away from africans, I don't think geography plays a big part here.
>>
>>24697640
Cinnamon Swirls...
PASTRIES!!! ANOTHER THING WE WILL INTRODUCE TO THE VILLAGE!!!!
>>
>>24697651
Well fruit trees are a good source of hardwood, which is useful in woodworking applications as well as smoking food.
>>
>>24697703
If we're growing fruit trees, it isn't for the wood; we can find that in the forest. We'll want to keep growing the same trees for many seasons so they grow strong.
>>
>>24697726
Well I don't know what else you can get out of an apple tree besides wood and apples.
If you can think of anything, let me know.
>>
We seem to have mostly sunny weather here, so any non-tropical fruit tree should be able to cope. That doesn't rule out too much.
This won't be a problem for a very long time, but some fruit trees can get gigantic. Cherry trees for instance will happily keep on growing and growing if they have enough space and sunlight. Modern farming for cherries and apples tends to use smaller dwarf varieties. Dwarf apple "trees" are almost unrecognizable as they are pretty much just a 6 foot sapling with all of it's branches spread out at right angles and strapped to a fence.
>>
>>24697551
OK, how about this: did you know you can also get rubber from fig trees?
>>
>>24697446
Figs and lemons, if available. What else can we find in the local area?
Then relics.
>>
>>24697446
Apple trees for delicious cider goodness, and then discuss relic hunting.
Back, interesting discussion. I'll bring up the idea of trees in the next thread. Then we'll see where we go from there. I always find it odd that during the thread there's maybe three unique posters other than myself, but as soon as I end it thirty people show up to discuss rendering products out of trees and such.
>>
>>24698406
Fair enough. Then in that case, how about we hear more of the details of where the relics can be found in the mountains?
>>
>>24698406
I'm in the wrong time zone so I usually wake up around the time you leave, and I guess the same goes for other Europeans.
>>
>>24698428
I'm not sure yet. I'll describe it in detail in the next thread, I promise.
Any feedback on the smutbin?
Should I bother continuing?
>>
>>24698670
Enjoying it quite a bit. You might want to consider pasting new content for it at the end of the thread, though, rather than the beginning. At the beginning it distracts people from the quest, and gives new readers a poor first impression (since the quest really isn't about that, it's just bonus content).
>>
>>24698707
Fair enough, I'll take that under advisement.
>>
>>24698670
>>
Also, it is too late it seems as I somehow missed the middle part. But yes I say continue it, but it's not like we need it to grow larger every thread.
>>
>>24698731
I don't mind you guys wanting to industrialize the world, I suppose it's only natural for /tg/. Give them a crayon and some string and they'll make a combustion engine.
And yet, I don't want to sully the world with industry. Let it be a low magic setting, maybe. Who knows what'll happen though. I have to constantly remind myself that I'm writing a story for other people, and need to keep that constantly in mind.
>>
>>24698757
Honestly, I don't want to turn this into an industrialized world. I'd like to invent a few modern things, but more in the "let's help out ourselves and the town" sense, not the "industrial revolution" sense.
>>
>>24698757
>Low magic setting
And then we had a magical industrial revolution.
>>
>>24698757
I still find it funny how much energy we're putting into trying to invent birth control, which hadn't even occurred to us at first. "To make a harem from scratch, you must first invent the universe."
>>
>>24698786
The girls could just be drinking a herbal tea, you know. I forget which herbs are used, but I know it's an old ass method.
>>
>>24698815
Or there could be nasty after effects from being in contact with the artifacts for too long.
>>
>>24698773
True. I thought we were going for automation over mass production... that and creating a few technological luxuries...
>>
>>24698757
There's a major limit on how much we can do industrially speaking.
Considering the population available to us going fullbore super industry just plain won't work. Not enough concentration of manpower, resource gathering, or need of products to make going fullscale industrialization viable. Also we're stuck in a reasonably small area which makes this difficult as if we don't have large coal deposits as well as deposits of various other things lying around nearby we're not going to get far, and the likelihood of us having all of that right here seems small.
But throwing in a few small inventions that are completely out of whack with the current tech level could be nice. I want a piping hot fucking bubble bath for us and the girls. Also using a waterwheel to grind stuff and pump bellows for a forge, and mechanizing the seed drill and wheat threshing will make our life so much easier.
>>
>>24698865
Well automation is normally how it starts just to make things easier, but the thought occurs "If I can automate the process surely I can do it on a larger scale."
And there is where crazy stuff starts to happen.
>>
>>24698815
It's also an incredibly unpleasant one. That method doesn't so much provide contraception as induce miscarriage.
>>
>>24698910
Miscarriage smishcarriage.
Some of the Relics are going to have nasty kickbacks too, but I'll wager you guys will still use them.
>>
>>24698928
Depends on the side-effects. We're seeking them out to bring them together and destroy them, remember? We might well use them while we don't have them all yet, if the benefits outweigh the risks, but...
>>
>>24698928
Depend on how nasty the kickback is and if we can mitigate it.
But probably yes, we like our big numbers.
Worst happens we dig a hole in the ground and throw them in there.
>>
>>24698945
Here's a question that sounds rhetorical, but isn't.
What does it profit a man to gain the world, if he should lose his own soul?
>>
>>24698928
You are giving us power and the temptation to use it.
Of course we are going to use the items even if they have nasty kickbacks.
>>
>>24698896
True there, though that could be attributed to Humanities greed. With a small village (maybe two if we 'civilize' Shady River) there is no feasable reason to run full scale mass production. The most we would do is probably 'Wallace and Gromit' style inventions, just with considerably less crackers and wensleydale...
>>24698958
I would say he stands to gain the world, though that is just from my philosophical perspective...
I'm not going to spoiler the relevant relic, because I'm not sure if I even want to make it a thing yet. Most of the thread doesn't want to conquer and burn, at least not grand scale.
But I think the release schedule for relics will pan out well. A will lead to B, will lead to revelation C, will lead to war or peace.
>>
>>24699125
If we must go down the CONQUER EVERYTHING path, we could always assign ruling positions to someone else and just have a yearly tribute or some such... even just being ruler by name...
