Flesh-Tearer descendant, Ecclesiarchy allied, Aztec inspired mother fucking Blood Jaguars.

Important things that still need to be decided, colour scheme and chapter symbol.

Things that need more fluff, the Order of the Martyred Heart, their SoB comrades-in-arms.

And always more stories/fluff pieces are welcomed.
>>
One thing that was decided in the past couple of threads is that the Jaguars should be one of the few Chapters that believe the Emperor is a god. They are a strange hybrid of pagan and fundamentalist, despite having practices radically different from the rest of the Imperium and the suspicion of chaos about them, their obvious devotion and close ties to the Church are one of the things that keeps the Inquisition of their backs.

They sometimes act as an Ecclesiarchy attack dog, a terrifying weapon that they deploy against heretics and heathens to send a message of terror to the rest of the subversives looking to undermine Church authority. Particularly against other Marines that ignore Church authority one time too many. They aren't large enough to supplant the SoBs in their traditional role, and of course their connection to the Church isn't a formal one since that would be against the law, but they work closely with Sisters across their sector and if a priest and an Inquisitor both asked a Jaguar to fight the other for them, the Jaguar would more likely assist the priest.

Maw-Gwar the Heart-Eater is the current head of the Blood Jaguar's Chaplains. As a youth he was raised by the native temple priests and took the climb of the sun at an especially early age. The men who raised him rejoiced, if he should succeed they knew he would become a legend, if he failed his righteous heart would burn bright in the Sun-Emperor's embrace.

He became a Jaguar, and his zeal became strengthened. He took to the path of the chaplain, and lectures often on faith after a battle, the heart of a fallen enemy clenched in his fist, sacrificial dagger bloody. More than anything he believes it is only through death that man is redeemed. He sees the carving of the heart from still living heretics as their path to salvation, as through their final suffering they can finally see the true glory of the Sun-Emperor. In a way he envies his victims, as they become closer to his god in that final moment than he shall ever be in life.

It is he that decided that internment in a dreadnought would serve as penance for a failed hero rather than a reward. What greater shame is there than being placed in the dark, the heart never to be lifted to the light? He personally oversaw Xipet T'otec's internment, though he loved the man as a brother. For it was his watch that saw Chaos come to their world, and his watch that failed to drive off the dread C'rtez. He did it so that one day perhaps his brother would atone for past failure, and be given up the sun with a purer soul.
>>
>>24948171

The chapter symbol should be a Jaguar head with a drop of blood in its jaws.
>>

It would be more natural if it was Golden Throne = Sun Emperor = Terra = Astronomicon

I mean, psykers/navigators are all mystical, right? And arguably those closest to the Emperor, right? Well, they describe his influence in the warp as a "lighthouse" or "shining beacon" and whatnot.

Good point. I wasn't thinking big enough.
The astronomicon is the light of the Sun Emperor that illuminates the galaxy and guides the faithful.

Maybe during the time when they were out of contact, they sacrificed the hearts of psykers to the Sun Emperor since they wouldn't have sent them away to fuel the astronomicon.
Those lucky psykers having their hearts cut still beating from their chests and burned on an altar allowing them to join the Emperor in the Sun.

Another repost of old art. Specialised champion armour. Because they have fuck all techmarines and are pretty low tech in general, this is what their terminator-equivalents would wear. More like sternguard than terminators, which should be restricted to company captains only due to scarcity.

I personally think it should be a gold Sun reminiscent of the Flesh Tearer Circular saw blade with the Jaguar head in black and a blood drop.

>>
>>24949431
Or maybe the psykers could still see the astronomicon even during the warp storm so it came to be known that Terra was a sun unto itself, one that burns so brightly even when the world was cloaked in Chaos manifested, its light could not be snuffed out.
>>
>>24949568
> I personally think it should be a gold Sun reminiscent of the Flesh Tearer Circular saw blade with the Jaguar head in black and a blood drop.

>>
>>24949606

Yeah, that'd be good.

How about before the Flesh Tearers came around/their world rediscovered, the world was under attack by Chaos manifested/engulfed by a warp storm or what have you. Now, perhaps this world has an unusual number of psykers - most of which are harmless and for the most part were considered "those who had visions."

Now during a particular siege of some large city, one particularly strong psyker just kind of goes crazy and starts spouting some nonsense about giving blood to the sun god to beg for his aid or something along those lines. Most people would ignore if not for the fact that he was known to be particularly powerful, was standing atop a pyramid, and was shortly attacked by a massive jaguar who ripped his still-beating hear from his chest as he cried praise to the sun god (or so the legend goes).

This, coincidentally was followed by the Flesh Tearers drop pods.

A good explanation for the Jaguar symbolism, as well as the "rip your heart out" sacrifices?
>>
>>24949749
The Chapter was caught in the Warp Storm, I believe, and the storm didnt end until they ripped out the heart of a Chaos Daemon and held it in stasis so the daemon could never rematerialize or something. That should be on the wiki, since its a significant part of their backstory.
>>
>>24949830

Oh. Makes sense.
>>
Their founder was a Flesh Tearers captain named Leon Galin, who was awarded the honour after a spectacular victory over a Dark Eldar raiding force.

On coming to the world of Tenocit he adopted a new name, Quetz'Uma, in honour of the people who lived there. While originally planning on following the dictates of the Codex and the teachings of his own chapter to the letter, he fell in love with the customs of his adopted home world. He studied the myths and legends and with the aid of a local Abbess of the Sisters of Battle, devised the unique recruitment method from these myths.

Eventually he met his end leading his young chapter against an ork waagh that threatened a nearby Agri-World. Facing down the gargantuan War-Lord and his large retinue of nobs, Quetz'Uma tore through their ranks until only he and the great war-lord remained.

Fighting tooth and nail, weapons lost to both, the great Quetz'Uma tore the throat of the ork out with his fangs, while the ork ripped the valiant warrior's arms from their sockets. Dying, he asked the sanguinary priest to perform the death ritual of his new home world. With bloody tears the priest cut Quetz'Uma's heart from his chest. All the warriors present took a bite from the still beating heart, taking a piece of their father into themselves. The young warrior to swallow the last mouthful was named Quetz'Uma'sd succesor.

The ritual lives on, and is performed for all the chapter master's upon their death, their heart shared amongst his closest companions with the new leader being chosen from amongst their ranks.

Black Jaguars are the equivalent of Death Company marines. For the most part they are arranged according to Blood Angel tradition, separated into their own squads and often led by a chaplain, but in minor matters they are different. In their vision they see Sanguinius as a feathered serpent, ripped apart by a vicious black dog. Having little veneration for the primarch in favour of worshiping the Sun-Emperor, the dream is highly stylised and distressing. In it they see the feathered serpent ripped open, and they watch the black dog devour his heart, which burns with the brilliance of the sun. They see that light disappear down the black dog's throat, snuffed out forever.

In this respect they believe the sun represents their own soul and become as one damned, giving in to their instinctual blood lust in an orgy of self-destruction.

The thing with the church is that we like our Psykers and psychic powers in general too much.
I think there was the idea that while isolated we regularly used to capture humans with Psykers who drew attention to themselves and either sacrificed or trained them since surviving a Librarian's training as a human is probably harsher than anything the Adeptus Telepathica could throw at them.

Yea, we like the church and they like us, but some of the shit we do probably disagrees with doctrine pretty hard.

The warp storm was in part sustained by the ritualistic human sacrifice the population performed on a regular basis, that much is known.
Maybe the other part was a much higher Psychic aptitude in the general population which meant the widespread fear fed it even further?
>>
>>24951325
I think they should be sacrificed, to add their light to the 'sun' i.e the astronomicon. The only exception are initiates that start to show signs of psychic ability, and are begrudgingly taught how to harness their powers for the good of the chapter. As such they have very few librarians, which could be one of the reasons that warp storm was able to catch them off guard so easily.
>>
>>24951357
>As such they have very few librarians, which could be one of the reasons that warp storm was able to catch them off guard so easily.
The BJags as such only became what they are today after the Warp Storm.

Terminator Armour is the weapon of last resort, due to its rarity. Only the Chapter Master, Captains and Centzon Tlaloc (Honour Guard) are permitted to wear these rare suits, but when they do they strike like the vengeful fist of the Sun-Emperor, destroying the foe with fire and blood.

The Centzon Tlaloc are the Blood Jaguar equivilant of the Sanguinary Guard of the other Blood Angel successors. They alone are allowed to wear the limited numbers of Terminator Armour the chapter has, and perform many ceremonial duties for the chapter as well.

Here's a map I've made that I have laying around for years. If you like it, great. If not, oh well.

It's just a continental outline but it should work and assuming it's earth like a large portion of it will be similar to Mexico and South America.
>>
>>24952791

That's a nice map. Me likey. Where is the Blood Jaguars Fotress Monastery on that map?
>>
>>24952805
I would suggest on the island chain in the middle of the inland sea

>Don't forget the eternal enemy even beyond the greenskins, Chaos.
Indeed.
BJags fucking HATE Chaos, but in a much more personal, intimate manner than you'll find it somewhere else.
People who fall to Chaos are ritually executed if at all possible, at least in the case of Khornate warriors, IIRC which are probably the highest percentage.
Following that is Tzeentch because MUH SEKRITS and the attraction to ritual, while Slaneesh and Nurgle are probably about as popular as ice skating in Kenya.

Just throwing things at the wall to see what sticks.
>>
>>24952816

Then how do aspirants cross the sea to get there?
>>
>>24952822
Hollowed-out tree trunks. It's the first part of the test.
>>

I prefer to think of it as pure jungle broken up big fucking rivers and lakes.
>>
>>24952822
They don't, they're collected form the old spire. If I remember the wiki story
>>
>>24952822
They swim. They build canoes. They surf on the back of man eating sea serpents.

They get there any way they can. Because the blood calls.
>>
>>24952805
I literally just opened the folder where I keep maps i've made in the past and posted it.

Like the Emperor's Nightmare's map if you want something fancier you'll have to get someone else to do it as it's beyond my ability.

Also, just for reference, it has the same land area as earth though I couldn't give you the specifics on projection if you wanted to get super technical.
>>
>>24952791
See now, if the ocean/land ratio were reversed I'd like it more.
>>
>>24952822
Once every 5 years all young men are marched into the lake at spearpoint.
They swim though the predator infested waters, the ones that survive are allowed to take the entrance test.
A do or die game of ōllamaliztli. no rest before the game starts, no rules are explained.

No. We already have plenty of good fluff regarding Jaguar recruitment.
>>
>>24952911
I'm against that as it goes against most of the things we've said already.
>>
>>24952791

In the interest of the rule of cool, I'd say that the planet has a large axial tilt so the tropics extend further. Secondly, I would say that that inland sea is rather shallow, only reaching about 100 to 200 meters deep on average with a few particularly deep points here or there. Then to spice it up a bit more, there are floating islands that drift around its surface, made from floating plants and accrued debris.

That and giant fucking trees the size of sky scrapers.
>>
>>24952943
>That and giant fucking trees the size of sky scrapers.
Who have bark as tough (or legitimately made from) iron.
>>
>>24952943
Personally I would go the other way, make the water deeper but also make it like the Black Sea, there is a completely de-oxygenated layer under witch the bodies of the Blood Jaguars are thrown into, there at the bottom of the inland sea they serve as an eternal guard as their bodies never decompose in the chilly depths.
>>
>>24952923
no they don';t but it certainly helps when it comes to making cool shit up. The more things we can just infer or assume right of the bat because it works like things we are used to the more time we can spend more awesome things.

Hell, look at the map of Icelus for the Emperor's Nightmare. We have all that detail on it because RAWK sperged the fuck on it trying to make make geological sense. Sure we fucked it sideways afterward but it gives semblance or order and reason to it that speeds things up.

Still don't get why they'd be a .. what 4th founding? Chapter.
>>
>>24953051

Founding number and amount of in-betweens with the original Legion aren't the same.

The Blood Jaguars, if they descend rom the Flesh Tearers directly would be second sucessors to the Blood Angel Legion. The n° of the Founding might just give an approximative idee WHEN they were created.

So this might have been said in a previous thread or something, but what if the captain of the squad, on a roll of 6 to hit, has the option to sacrifice a heart, killing someone from the enemy squad, and giving a morale boost to squad, and a whole bunch of bonuses regarding morale like fearless, and assault bonuses

And if the chaplain does so, he give a bonus to all his army, on a one off, for the entire game, along the same lines
>>
>>24953013
I like the idea of the world being more real in that it gets huge storms off the massive oceans that provide the basis of the thunder god mythology and water for the jungles, but to give it more jungle more depth across the world, make the environment hyper oxygenated to provide the oxygen for the megafauna and a out of wack greenhouse effect that produces a desert/arid band around the equator and then tropical jungle from pole.

The Massive ocean also provides an excuse why this jungle lasts, the oceans pump out huge amounts of oxygen providing for the fauna. The island chain on the east of the map is highly active because of the warp storm related problems and provides the fuel for the jungle growth.

Also, to continue on the idea of >>24952837 ; maybe the the Chapter fortress is on an island, in the middle of a large lake (like good ol' Tenochtitlan, except maybe the lake is more the size of a little sea).
According to local legends, the Lake of the Sun is sacred, for it is made of the blood of Gods (at sunset, the lake seems really red). Except for the priests, which use it in their rituals, it is forbidden to touch its holy water, on penalty of death (by sacrifice, of course).

meh, let it be oceans. Not just because of what >>24953106 is saying but because the planet likely doesn't have that big of a population anyway. There's enough jungle as is and because lol-40k megaflora, the jungle probably extends up to the poles where it snows.

Wait, that's actually pretty fucking cool now that I think about it. The jungles in the high latitudes have an interlocking canopy so that when it snows (and damn does it snow) it seals in the heat like a giant igloo.

not for the faint of heart. One wrong move and you'll fall a thousand feet through the jungle. Pray to the Emperor that you manage to hit your head on a branch on the way day. Those or survive such a fall will certainly wish for such a mercy when they find themselves caught in the web of a giant spider-thing.
>>
>>24952837
I was thinking that oceans would mean that they could have cool dual-hulled boats, like the old world Polynesians.
>>
>>24953141

Well, cultists destroyed it when I wrote the original fluff piece. The daemonic invasion came after cultists in Xolotl Hive sacrificed themselves and the governor and managed to open a Warp portal. The Jaguars fought their way up through the entire Hive from the ground to the spire, battling constantly through endless waves of daemons who kept emerging from the Immaterium. It was only when Chapter Master T'otec ripped out the Daemon Price C'rtez's heart atop the pyramid hive that the portal closed and the skies cleared.

I put the monastery on top of Xolotl Hive originally because it was the site of the Jaguar's greatest victory, and because there's few better places for a hidden fortress than atop a lost overgrown Hive that most of the planet doesn't know exists. I also liked the imagery of an overgrown, decrepit palace with jungle vines twisting over ancient stone statues and carvings. That's just the outside of course. Inside it's a whole other story; just as well maintained as any fortress monastery would be.

There's also the whole part of sacrifices. Given how the Jaguars see the Sun Emperor, it makes sense that when you offer up the beating hearts of psykers to Him, you do so at the highest possible point so you are as close to the Sun as possible. The Hive fills that perfectly.
>>
>>24953303
But can it still be a hive built on an island in the middle of a giant lake?
>>
>>24953301
Oceans really do give us the best mix of things. Having it be all jungle turns it just another mono-biome planet.

Even if most everywhere that isn't desert or arid is has jungle-like foliage, it's still several different jungle-esque biomes.

Cloud forests in the highlands. Colossal mangrove forests on the coast. Amazonian like forests in the inland tropics. Louisianian bayous scaled up. The boreal snow-jungles the other anon mention. Might even have a specific type of jungle that exists in hurricane prone areas where it consists of weak, small trees that grow like weeds between towering behemoths that the hurricanes can hardly sway.

>>
>>24953327

Hmm. I suppose not. I originally stuck it in the middle of the jungle because it helped keep it secret; the Inquisition purged any record of the Hive from all records on the planet, but whilst it's easier to hide an overgrown ruin of a pyramid Hive in the middle of a remote jungle, it's harder to hide it when it's in the middle of a lake.

That being said, if it's remote enough, and the Inquisition forbids anyone from flying over the region, there's not much of a problem with it remaining a secret.

That's supposed to be the current placement of the fortress, and the ancient spire located on the intersection of the two large continents. Could also be that with this being the new fortress they are still expanding and growing the fortress. While small at the moment the massive sea allows them plenty of room to grow as their chapter rebuilds.

Also allows ease for two of the continents to take part on the Dark Road. Not sure how the other would take part but I'm sure where there is a will there is a way.

Found the map of earth I used for my scale reference and overlaid it on top.
>>
>>24953370
that is exactly where I was suggesting. The body of water it sits in is pretty damn large so it probably deserves to be called a sea.

Also, we could totally have it so that sea has regular blooms of red algae that turn it a lovely blood red.
>>
>>24953407

That northern continent looks weirdly placed with no real stopping point or other hemisphere ending. Does it have an ice cap?
>>
>>24953582
making the polar regions is kind of a royal pain in the ass so i will generally exclude a bit of them for ease. The east end of the continent touching the top of the map wraps around to the west end just over the pole. If I had put it in there I'm sure everyone would be going "what the fuck is that weird stretched blob at the top"

Assuming this planet is hotter on average than Earth there would not be an ice cap. There may be a small one at the southern pole though. I just didnt bother to map out sea ice because well, it's sea ice and thats even more of a pain in the ass.

If the planet was earth-like in its climate, I still don't think there would be much of an ice cap at the northern pole as warm sea water would be able to flow around the pole and heat it up.
>>
>>24953642

I like the idea of a southern ice cap and a generally tundra north pole with vast tundra forests like Siberia which blend into the rainforsts further south.
>>
If the fortress monastery is a forgotten hive why not just make the hive itself an island, an artificial island from the earliest days of the planet, somewhere back in the Dark Age of Technology.

The people forgot the tech over time and underhives have the occasional artifact and what not but the hive could be an artificial island covered by jungle flora and maybe the occasional coral reef.
>>
>>24953806
The reason I picked where I did is the Dark Road to the Sun requires the participants to be able to get there by themselves. That produces some restrictions on the placement of the spire with any sort of oceanic voyage being very limiting.
>>
>>24953860
I don't like the oceanic voyage personally.

It breaks too many themes as far as I'm concerned.

Journerying through a jungle, a jungle swamp, even tundra forest makes sense.

Swimming across the ocean reminds me more of tribal manhood tests and what not and unless you make a chain of desert islands or whatever that's 50% of the journey across the ocean and now you've got some sort of sailor as opposed to tribal/underhiver who journeied through the darkest depths of the jungle.
>>
>>24953860

Yes, you could put it on the edge of the sea, with training grounds or something on the islands. Or have the pickup location on the edge of the sea, and the sucessful aspirants cross the sea to the monastery to be trained.
>>
>>24953909
Or bear with me now, the island-hive can be the Abbey, since that is designed to be impossible altogether to get to, with a very lovely hive run by a cardinal.
>>
>>24953903
Which is why I placed the Ancient Spire on the land bridge between the two continents.

It is difficult though to come up with a good reason why it is still secret. It could be like the central Americas, extremely rugged mountains that makes it difficult to live around, and the spire being so overgrown that it looks just like just another mountain.

Location of the other Spires and temples would be important to determining the route for the Dark Road. If the main Spires the recruits come from are in the Northern Continent then the journey would funnel the recruits towards the tropical jungles.
>>
>>24953909
Now that I'm fine with.

Keep the inland sea, put like, algae blooms, and floating islands made of ironwood bark and plant matter...

But put a little outposts, a few dozen maybe, on the edge of the insland sea and have those be pick up points for aspirants.
>>
>>24953984
Mountainous terrain, combined with the occasional burst of warp phenomena left over from the demonic incursion, dangerous plants and animals and maybe an aurora borealis effect in the sky left over from the warp portal that makes the locals fear and hate the place.

It's harmless but its scary looking,
>>
>>24954016
Fair enough

Made a mistake with the Fortress, I took it that the ruined Hive of Xolotl was the old Fortress Monastery, and with the demonic incursion and everything that happened there the Fortress was moved to a new location. With every chapter Fortress being a huge complex and the ruined spire decaying each year a new fortress would be built to hold the chapter and defend the world if needed. One that could have shields and defense batteries to protect it without the threat of the spire collapsing underneath them.
>>
>>24953984

Okay so we have a fortress built into an abandoned hive. The outside isn;t tended to so it looks pretty overgrown and decrepit. The inside is a semi-standard Spess muhreen fortress monastery with the BJag flavour we all know and love.

Now as for the warp phenomena, we got a harmless aurora around the mountain range. What else?

Phantom images of the battle that play out endlessly? Unearthly smells and sounds that have no source?

I'd say that's a bit too dark, and people produce their own fear which is much works then any technology.

I'd say leave it shrouded with the ocean binging heavy mist at sunset that seems to linger too long as the sun rises. The mists seem to be alive with the ghosts of the past, people see the dead in the mist and the sounds left over from the warp let peoples imagination run wild.

It's not just the people who lied there that people see, the warp plays on peoples fears and it seems that the dead pass through these mists. Criminals and ancient soldiers are often seen by those who pass too close to the mists.

I like the Space-Port-Courts.

While we're at it we should maybe include a yearly ritual game wherein two groups of aspirants from the Sisters of the Martyred Heart and Blood Jaguars play a game (named something like Sun-Ball) inthe court.

The whole ritual is supposed to reinact some sort of folk tale of demons stealing the light of the sun and the servants of the sungod retrieving the light.

The aspirants draw straws, one side plays as the demons and wears appropiate garb, one side plays as the sun-gods servants (again, appropiate garb.)

Both sides play a modified game of basket ball that includes punching, kicking, biting and scratching among its rules. (two hoops, 1 point per ball through hoop. 6 points wins game)

No one is sacrificed after the game, though demons winning is seen as a bad omen and sun-god servants winning is seen as a good omen.
>>
>>24965479
The initiates who play the daemons would have to go through a cleansing ritual before and after the game.
>>
>>24965523

>>
>>24965523
Definetly.

>>24965614
Nope.

They descend into the underhive (or the equivilent thereof) of the nearest populated area and drag out scum, unworthy criminals and sinners. They gather them up by the hundreds and take them to a special sacrificial chamber deep in the fortress monastery/abbey.

Blood Jaguar Chaplains/Ecclesiarch priests sacrifice the hearts of the hiverscum and the blood from the sacrifices flows through the gratings set into the floor. This blood carries the sins of the scum who are sent to the Sun-Emperor for purification and judgement. It annoints the corrupted iniatiates and washes away their sins.

An unusually large number of black company Blood Jaguars come from initiates who have had the poor luck to play this game as demons.

We haven't locked ourselves to the possibility of including all other Aztec warriors like Eagles and Serpents, right?
>>
>>24966451
We DO have a special version of the imperial aquilla.

I figure eagles could be our jump troops.

Maybe serpents could feature prominently on our sniper weapons?
>>
>>24966451
>>24966751
Eagle Warriors as jump pack and thunderhawk pilots, but its just a naming convention.
>>
>>24966751
Why not separate the Eagles and Jaguars into different, Elite companies ala Deathwing and Ravenwing? Hell, this chapter only has 400 marines, right?

Well, Aztec military pretty much comprised several main warrior societies:

>Trainees.
>Common Soldiers.
>Jaguar Warriors, Elite.
>Eagle Warriors, Elite.
>Otomi, Mercenaries.
>Shorn Ones, the elite of the elite.

Like this, we can divide those 400 jaguars into companies, or the jaguar equivalent of that.

30 Trainees. Undergoing the rituals to become a battle brother.
200 Warriors. Complete Space Marines.
60 Eagles. Elite Assault, for high speed strikes.
60 Jaguars. Elite Melee specialists, and honor guard of sorts.
30 Shorn Ones. Terminator Squads and heroes.
20 Specialists (Chaplains, Techmarines, Librarians)
Whatever amount of Blood Raging warriors are needed and, because they lack large enough numbers of Active Battle Brothers, the Otomi.

They are a special company made up of those that underwent the pilgrimage and are currently testing themselves to join the chapter. Years of surviving in the jungle taught them that the safest path to victory is remaining unseen and avoiding direct combat. Because of this, they mastered the use of long-lost imperial spear guns with incredible penetration, laced with the pollution absorbed by the fungus all over the planet, which severely poisons those struck by it.

That way, we could have a Chapter that isn't severely undermanned and isn't completely assault-based.
>>
>>24967797
Because that's almost a complete overhaul and we might as well just call them the Aztec Marines instead of the Blood Jaguars. I don't like it.
>>

>>
>>24968958

Much the same as the norm on most Imperial Worlds I'd imagine.

Remember that according to the fluff we have thus far, the only ones who really get away with human sacrifice are the Jaguars. For the rest of Tenocit, human sacrifice was totally suppressed by the Inquisition following the Long Night. There'd be a little bit of illicit sacrifice going on in underhives and the like, and I can imagine high ranking nobles executing those who've failed them in such a manner, but for the average citizen it's a remnant of Tenocit's past that they try to forget.
>>

>>
>>24967797
Okay force division but lets crank down the numbers of the Centzon-Tlaloc (eagle marines) to around 24, put 12 of the remaining number into black company and the rest are normal battle brothers or elite units.

I figure since this chapter doesn't have much in the way of tech there wouldn't even be that many jump packs to go around and any tech they do have is basically the Kalishnakov equivilent of whatever the rest of the imperium uses.
>>

I'd say the Centzon-Tlaloc have far less then 24, as they are the Sanguinary Guard of the Blood Jaguars only they wear Terminator Armour instead of Artificer Armour.

At most, there's be 12-15 of them, possibly even less.

Wilbur Mapping program.
Took a while but it's free. A massive system hog. At one point using 3GB of ram. But free and also rather small.

So presumably we're looking at something like this for the fortress monastery?

How would one represent a grappling-hook on the table top?
I'd like the Sisters to use those in lieu of/in addition to jump packs because JUNGLE.
>>

I'd assume so.

Unfortunately I don't have photoshop, only paint so I can't really do any more with the map. I was thinking of adding some further details like spires and some colour to the oceans, but I'll leave that to someone else. If someone wants I have a larger version of the map that is 6400x3200 if they want to use that for any editing

I kind of think that they'd be better off with more of a fortress city, than just a monastery.

As well as being the Jaguar's base, their serfs also live here. The citizens of the city of the gods.

Let's say the inland sea is shadow, as others have suggested. You could have it occupied with mosasaurs. Giant aquatic crocodilian monsters. With the island chain the monastery-city lies upon being regarded in legend as their mother. The Blood Jaguars having built their home upon her back (much like the myth of cipactli).

As D said in a past thread: Don't just throw in historical references for the sake of throwing them in.

Also, we only rolled under-strength in the original thread. We could easily be at 700 marines not including Death Company. I picked 400 because I was stupid.
>>
Hmm. Okay, random idea.

The inland sea wasn't always a sea, originally just a low dust bowl, until the long night, when earthquakes wracked the eastern coast, creating a channel.
This has led the inland sea to be filled with the sunken ruins of old Tenocit. The sea itself is also filled with sediment from when it was the land, leading to it being called the lake of bitter tears.

Some have rumoured that the islands that make up the chapter's monastery are not islands at all, but were in fact a space hulk that fell to ground in at the start of the long night, its impact causing the quakes that created the Inland Sea.
The hulk, a large portion of it composed of meteors and asteroids, resembles strange rock edifices, but there are parts where the remains of ancient ships are preserved. These form the labyrinthine catacombs of the chapter's monastery.

So are Jaguar initiates the scout company, or something else?

How awesome is it that this is one of my favourite "GETS SHIT DONE" works AND set in places I love (Jungles) with a Spess Muhreen Chapter I can enjoy, Blood Angels, and their obvious love for the Nuns with the Guns. Which they only get from IG in the damn book. *shakes head*

So, I shall post some art I used for my Lizardmen folder. Enjoy! Also, please remember to join /tg/s' Steam Group.

I have a few questions we should answer.

How much armour does the chapter have? How many Dreads? Any Contemptors?

How many Thunderhawks does the Chapter have? How many Stormravens?

How strong is the Chapter Fleet, what is the name of their Flagship?
>>
I had an idea for chapter structure.

Instead of being organised along traditional company lines, they instead have a looser command structure referred to as 'companions'. Warriors of the chapter who are recognised as captains attract a number of squads around them, have advisers in the form of Sanguinary Priests, individual Centzon Tlaloc and Chaplains, and operate almost completely independent of each other. Squads and individuals switch from companions at will, meaning a captain can only retain his rank if he has the charisma and force of will to keep his troops loyal to him.

They occasionally attract human companions who become chapter serfs, inclding missionaries, tech-priests and other odd hangers-on and sometimes have a group of Sisters of the Martyred Heart embedded for long periods of time, essentially becoming members of the Companion.

Each companion would give itself a name, like the Companions of the Crystal Skull for instance, or the Companions of the Onyaguara.

This is only a development after the Long Night. In fact the band of the Chapter Master still calls itself the Companions of the Long Night, composed of the veterans that fought and survived the ordeal.

Just a thought.

> How much armour does the chapter have? How many Dreads? Any Contemptors?

I'm saying twenty suits of terminator plate, and maybe four dreads max, one of whom is the Chapter Master. All the other dreads were wiped out by the forces of Cr'tez and they no longer practice interring fallen heroes into dreads as a result.

> How many Thunderhawks does the Chapter have? How many Stormravens?

I'm thinking they don't lack for stormravens or thunderhawks, just the man power to field them effectively.

Chapter fleet is interesting. I'm thinking only a moderate sized fleet. I have no idea what their flagship should be called. Something sufficiently meso-american.

These guys don't have many techmarines, one of the reasons they lack for armour is because they don't have the man power to repair what they have or the standing with the mechanicus for replacements. This could change in the future, they could be given some replacement gear from a friendly chapter for instance, something that has canon instances in the fluff.

I would call their battle barge the 'Tlalocan', after the Aztec god of the sea (well, water)

>>

I don't get it.
>>
What are the structures of the planet?
I mean it's supposed to be a hive wold but all we know at the moment is that the Order of the Martyred Heart have a base somewhere and there is the Hive of Xolotl.

On another map I suggested where I thought they should be. The Sisters base being in contradiction with what is on 1d.

My theory on that is the islands were part of an ancient military complex that was build onto the ocean floor to provide naval support and a military base at the Western continent. Used originally as a staging ground for the military to fight the Indigenous Orks that owned the continent it acted as a control point. Following the reemergence of Tenocit the Inquisition took hold of this complex as a base of operations during the investigation it was given to the Adepta Sororitas for their service during the investigation. They have held the facility since.

Not sure how it works with the current Adepta Sororitas, whether they were there before or after the warp storm.

Naming the continents would be helpful along with some of the major hives. I'm thinking the recruiting ones are on the Eastern Continents with the Western Continent devoted more towards agriculture, and resource collection.
