>As always, you could check Einstein's data at any time: http://pastebin.com/CaAF0yS8

Your name is Heather Leery, and you've just won over an emotionless psion with extraordinary manifestation powers.

Wyvern slid into dock, while Delta sat in place. He kept Looking at Einstein, Alex, and Anna, quiet. Ellie was pouting, and Damien was sitting next to you, strapped down. His eyes were closed, and he seemed to be trying to rest. He was blind again, having abused his clairvoyance... But it was strange. His eyes had been healed specifically so he could see in these sorts of situations... And then there was the fact that he was also deaf.

Finally, Ellie took off her suit's helmet, running her hands through her hair, as you suddenly felt 0.7 Gs pull you downwards- you'd entered the station's artificial gravity. The hatch opened- and Max was sitting there.
Growling.

An apex predator, leader of the pack, Angry. Your hindbrain jittered, as it recalled running and hiding from these predators, these wolves. He was furious, furious.
"I thought you were told to stay on the station." He said, in a low, low voice, one that spoke of barely clinging to his mind.
"I saw what would happen." Damien said, sitting up and opening his eyes- they were bloodshot, but he stared directly at Max, confidently.
"And this was the alternative?" Max asked. He calmed a fraction when Damien nodded.
>>
>>25014335
"I'm sorry Max, but we either had to leave immediately or lose Delta to Armatek. It's not like we enjoy disobeying you or something."
>>
>>25014335
"But now we have the UPA has all the Psions. They have the full card set."

"More importantly, ArmaTek doesn't have him."
>>
Damien you said earlier 'damn clairsentience' Does that mean you figured out how to use my version of clairvoyance?
>>
>>25014335

"I'm terribly sorry for running of like we did, but with the Void Queen now moving in force, we need all the help we can get. If we didn't go after Delta, ArmaTek would have moved him somewhere more secure."
>>
>>25014335
"Sorry Max. Damien said we had to leave immediately or it would be too late."
>>
"I'm sorry, Max, but we either had to leave immediately or lose Delta to Armatek." You say. "It's not like we enjoy disobeying you or something, but with the Void Queen moving in force, we need all the help we can get. If we didn't go after Delta, Armatek would have moved him somewhere more secure."
The wolf took a deep breath.
"... Okay, I should calm down. That's a good point." He said.

Delta rolled out past him, ignoring Max, and made his way into the other hangar- to Surya. You felt him start to Look at it, and at... your exosuit. And most of all, the shield generators.
He sat there, Looking, and utterly froze, his mind churning.
"None of you were hurt?" Max asked, watching Delta- who was sitting in the doorway to Surya's hangar, frozen.
"Wyvern was damaged, but Delta fixed it." Anna said.
"I'm glad to hear that." Max said. "I should probably tell him how things work here-"
"Delta's kind of weird." Ellie said. "It might be best to write a small, simple booklet with some rules for him. He doesn't seem to like people."
"Not having thumbs makes it hard to type, but that's probably what I'll do."
>>
>>25014498
"Are the shield generators keeping you suitably entertained, Delta?"
>>
>>25014498
"Can't you just order one of the scientists to do it for you?"
>>
>>25014498
"Do you not have an assistant like Einstein?"
>>
>>25014498

"Thanks Max."

walk over to Delta but don't stand to close to him

"That's my ship, what do you think?"

if we talk about tech he may be a little bit more talkative, if we want him to open up to us more, talking to him once in a while and having him see us around more often should help quite a bit

as long as we're not pushing for contact and treat him like normal.

we promised him a Recabulator, let's manifest one.
>>
>>25014498
They were designed by my friends Sarvesh and Omni. I think you'll like Omni. He's quite the inventor.
>>
>>25014624
He gets a recabulator after we beat the VQ.

Otherwise we have no guarentee that he won't just say "Hey, thanks." and then fuck off. Actually, he wouldn't even say thanks.

Delta isn't somebody who can be befriended.
>>
"Can't you just order one of the scientists to do it for you?"
"I could, yes. Or I could simply use telekinesis." He said. "I'll get to work on it. Just... If it's necessary for you to leave, tell me first."
Then he got to his feet, and padded off. You walked over to Delta, trying not to walk to close to him.
"Are the shield generators keeping you suitably entertained?"
"Very delicate." He responded. You took that as a yes.
"Do you not have an assistant like Einstein?"
He didn't respond.
"That's my ship. What do you think?"
"Rotor enabled primary thrusters. Heat shield. Programming aberrations. Minor luxuries. It is a larger-scaled space-enabled shuttle. No more."
"They were designed by my friends Sarvesh and Omni. I think you'll like Omni. He's quite the inventor."
Delta didn't respond.
>>
Theres really no talking to this guy is there? Oh well. That doesn't mean Heather will give up quite yet.

Shall we go practice something? TK or photokinesis would be good. We've been focusing on manifestation and clairvoyance lately.
>>
>>25014679
"Oh? And what would to do differently if you were building it?"

Now we need to put battle-ship grade weapons on it.
>>
>>25014679

<Damien, go rest properly this time.>

"would you happen to have any recommendations on systems to add to my ship?"
>>
"What would you like to see first? The program we obtained to transfer powers between psionics? The AI that can surpass the klimeck limit? Or the tiger uplift that can create a pocket universe?"
>>
>>25014679
Not sure if it's the right time for it, but we could always ask whether or not he would want a sense of empathy.

He would probably refuse, but it's worth a shot. Maybe beam it in without him knowing, like we did the devourer.
>>
"What would you like to see first? The program we obtained to transfer powers between psionics? The AI that can surpass the klimeck limit? Or the tiger uplift that can create a pocket universe?"
"No." He responded, still examining the Surya.

"What would you do differently if you were building it?"

He held out a hand, and parts appeared, levitating in the air, and quickly started to assemble itself, gently pushing Surya out of the way. Then you were looking at a slimmer, sleeker Surya. It had four smaller thrusters instead of the two large ones, and the bubble drive was slightly smaller.
And then there were the five long barrels sticking out of the front, with smaller lasers all around the hull.
"No luxuries. One pilot seat, six cryogenic pods. Smaller thrusters for more agility. Point defense lasers, missile weapons, kinetic spreadshot weapons."

He paused, and tilted his head a fraction.
"Cannot replicate Surya's primary fusion engine easily, so power generation and bubble drive efficacy has been reduced."
>>
>>25014849
"But the luxuries were half the point!"
>>
>>25014876
He won't care. And besides we did ask him what he would do differently.

"Very nice. I wish your machines personalities weren't so... emotionless though. It's hard to relate to them."
>>
>>25014849
"Interesting. Now that I can legally mount turrets, I was planning on putting shield generators in them, for a 'reflective' point defence system. It'd be able to defend against lasers that way too."
>>
>>25014849

"I built Surya with pilot and passenger comfort high on the list."
>>
>>25014849
<You're the best, Helios.>

"No defenses against lasers? Disappointing. I personally would have added packs of liquid metal and high heat capacity materials that disperse and diffract oncoming beams."
>>
>>25014936
*packs that explode outward, containing liquid

Like the rocket defense system on tanks.
>>
"I built Surya with pilot and passenger comfort high on the priority list."
"I know." He said.
"Interesting." You say, looking at the second Surya. "Now that I can legally mount turrets, I was planning on putting shield generators in them, for a reflective point defense system. It'd be able to defend against lasers that way, too."
"Power drain would be immense." He said.

He raised a hand- and dozens of drones assembled themselves, all with maintenance equipment. They started shearing apart the second Surya, carrying the parts to the side, as he started Manifesting more components, as they assembled themselves into shield generators.
"Modifying hull. Removing point defence, replacing with shield generators. Thinning armor, replacing with high-capacity chemical cells."

"And no defenses against lasers? Disappointing."
"Manuverability is high enough to leave laser range." He responded. "I would equip a larger ship with sandcaster point defense."

Ellie just blinked, confused, while Anna watched the ship assemble itself. Delta ignored the two. Meanwhile, back in the Wyvern's hangar, Damien and Alex were talking.
>>
>>25015014
"Good thing Surya can handle the power drain."
>>
>>25015014
"Power drain isn't much of a concern for Surya Prime compared to the other one you've made, Sir Helios can pump out enough power for pretty much everything we need.

What armament did you put on the Surya you made?

Why can't you replicate Sir Helios, the engine, what about it makes it difficult to recreate or conceptualize?"
>>
>>25015014
>>25015014
so ever think of making a Dyson sphere?
>>
>>25015014
We should probably talk to Jason and figure out how they did the FTL Armor trick.

We could turn it into an FTL gun for Surya.
>>
>>25015014
"I like it. Very nicely designed. More militaristic then Surya but thats half the point. Would you mind if I gave the design to Omni? He might be able to sell it to the military. You'd be compensated of course."

"What do you think Anna?"
>>
>>25015014
"Can you make solar panels and particle accelerators? You could make an anti-matter production center."
>>
>>25015014

we'll be out of space in no time.

"I uh, kind of copied the design of that Demiurg exosuit you were examining a few days back. Sorry if i startled you."
>>
"Power drain isn't much of a concern for Surya prime compared to the other one you've made. Sir Helios can pump out enough power for pretty much everything we need. Why can't you replicate the engine? What about it makes it difficult to recreate or conceptualize?"
He met your eyes for the first time... and shrugged. That was the most human thing you'd seen him do, with a very clear message- he didn't know.

Then he turned back to the second Surya.
"I like it. Very nicely designed. More militaristic than Surya, but that's half the point. Would you mind if I gave the design to Omni? He might be able to sell it to the military. You'd be compensated of course."
"Do not." He said. "This is not a military ship. It is a sub-par long range shuttle. Designed for traversing treacherous space. I can produce something better."

"What do you think, Anna?" You ask.
"Me? I think it might be best to replace all the kinetic spreadshot with missiles." She said. "That way, you don't need to power the electromagnets."
Delta didn't respond, but he barked out a command, and the drones started removing the long barrels, putting them aside.
"We'll be out of space in no time." You say.
"I will eject extra materials after completion." He said.
"And I, uh, kind of the design of that Demiurg exosuit you were examining a few days back. Sorry if I startled you."
He didn't respond.
>>
>>25015192
"So, what would be the ultimate design, Delta?"
>>
>>25015192
Sketch out a design for adding piles of weapons, more armor, and combat maneuverability stuff onto Surya prime, focus on things that can take advantage of our absurd power generation, railguns, kinetic spreadshot, lasers and plasma weaponry, point defense things.

Once we have that done present it to the others for review and refine it before adding it on.
>>
>>25015192

"any suggesting about what kind of weapons I could fit Surya with?"

preferably something we can build ourselves so it won't go away if Alex fumbles his ability.
>>
>>25015250
don't forget to start designing the main gun. we want something that can make use of our heat crystal.
>>
>>25015281
I thought we were going to mount an Ion Laser on Surya, with forcefields inside it to keep the gas contained so it can reach super-hot temperatures.
>>
>>25015298

can't hurt to ask, might get some fun ideas in addition to the laser.
>>
You pull up your sunglasses, and sketch out more weapons and armor onto Surya Prime, focusing on your absurd power generation.

"So, what would be the ultimate design, Delta?"
"Cannot create my ultimate design." He said. "I require thirty seven two-inch decabulators, a twelve-inch decabulator, and a 36-inch decabulator. My second best cannot fit inside of this hangar."

"Any suggestion about what kind of weapons I could fit Surya with?"
He thought for a moment. "Plasma turrets. Larger-scaled ion laser. Plasma weapons could double as point defense. Long combat sustainability."

"How would you design the ion laser?" You ask.

"Larger or more numbered heating crystals. Magnetically contain and heat ion gases pre-charge. Use gas pumps to maneuver the ion gas into a tesla charging barrel."
>>
>>25015372
"So similar to what I was doing, but on a larger scale and allowing for more steps.

Can you recreate the heating crystals as it is often annoying to make them myself."
>>
>>25015372
"Hmm. I could use the kinetic repulsors to push the gas out, too. There'd be no recoil that way."

"Could you manifest some concrete? I'll show you the method I make those crystals."
>>
>>25015397
actually we should be able to recreate them slightly easier now that we know what we are doing.
>>
Rolled 8

>>25015372
>36-inch decabulator
It's almost like Exabutt is trying to tell us to make it...
>>
>>25015372
Make him those decabulators.

>>25015397
He said he couldn't recreate the heat crystal when he first saw it.
>>
Rolled 40

>>25015425
fuck it, lets make one
>>
>>25015372

>Luxurious Laser ship Surya

sounds like a good idea, if it doesn't impact our speed and power drain critically.

we'll need more crystals though.
>>
>>25015438
>>25015425
What? Those are just Decabulators. As in, the normal ones.
>>
>>25015414
>Kinetic repulsors?

"So similar to what I was doing, but on a larger scale and allowing for more steps." You say. "Can you recreate the heating crystals, as it's often annoying to make them myself."
"Yes." He said. "It will be difficult, but within my ability."
He held out a hand, and he gritted his teeth. You heard them grind, and suddenly, there was a heat crystal within his hand.
His head bobbed, tired, and he dropped it into your hand.
>>
>>25015372
Exabutt, did you mean recabulators not decabulators? He can easily make decabulators.
>>
>>25015372
"You...can't make decabulators?"
>>
>>25015372
>decabulator
>Whoops! Meant Recabulator. The impossible-to-produce ones.
>>
>>25015449
I thought the shield generators were kinetic repulsors. They reflect any shit thrown at them.
>>
>>25015449
Oh sorry I didn't realize we were nearing your limit. Here I'll show you the dorms and the cafeteria so you can eat then rest.
>>
>>25015449
"You look tired, let's get you some food before we keep on fiddling with ship stuff.

Come on, there's pancakes, and I'll introduce you to Serpensal."
>>
>>25015447
Yeah but presumably they don't normally come in 36-inch size, so he needs to see one before he can copy it.
>>
>>25015449

"looks like you need a break, wanna get something to eat? our skilled chef might be awake now."
>>
>>25015467
They don't reflect shit. They bend the space the shit is travelling through. They're built out of bubble drives.
>>
>>25015449
"Oh dear. Let's get you something to eat, shall we?"
>>
Alright lets let Delta rest. We can do our own exhausting practice soon.
>>
>>25015467
>They don't create energy, they redirect it through space-bending shenanigans. There's no way to accelerate or push anything.

"You look tired." You say. "I didn't realize we were nearing your limit. Here, I'll show you the cafeteria, and the dorms so you can eat, then rest."
"The crystals are difficult to fabricate." He said.

You rolled his chair down to the cafeteria, and there Sarvesh was, cooking. Anna and Ellie followed, the two talking.
"Hello!" Sarvesh said.
"Food." Delta said. "Something nutritious and easy to eat."
"... Alright." Sarvesh said, rather stunned by Delta's sudden command.
Robin peeked around the corner- and backed away when she saw Delta, and pamfed behind you.
"Why is *he* here?!" She whispered in your ear.
>>
>>25015536
"Works for us now. An army of RoboSoldiers will help a great deal when we fight VQ."
>>
>>25015536
"He's agreed to work with us against the VQ, for the moment."
>>
>>25015536
<Armatek was about to move him and better here then making more things for them. Also we need weapons to fight the VQ, and he is very good at that.>
>>
>>25015536
"Because having hordes of drones, ships, Exosuits, and so on, on our side seems much preferable to ArmaTek using him for whatever mustache twirling evil plot they have in mind next.

He's not exactly a people person I admit, but you have to admire his dedication to building things."
>>
<Sorry about that Sarvesh. He is definately not a people person. It probably doesn't help he's spent most of his life surrounded by machines.>
>>
>>25015536

"he agreed to help us in exchange for some tech and I would rather not have the Void Queen find him or ArmaTek moving him somewhere."
>>
>>25015593
Well we also spent a lot of our life surrounded by machines, we just happened to hang out with the cool social machines.
>>
>>25015536
<Is there a problem? I know he's not very friendly but it doesn't seem like he'll bother people if they leave him alone.>

>Something nutritious and easy to eat.
Anna finally has a way to get rid of all those rations!
>>
>>25015615
>Delta and Anna become fast friends over mutual love of horrid tasting yet 'healthy' rations.
>>
"Because having hordes of drones, ships, exosuits and so on, on our side seems much more preferable to Armatek using him for whatever mustache twirling evil plot they have in mind next." You say. "He's not exactly a people person, I admit, but you have to admire his dedication to building things."
"No, I meant, how'd you get him to come with you?" She asked. "There's nothing he wants? Did you like... pout at him or something?"
"He agreed to help us in exchange for some tech." You say.
"That ... makes a bit more sense." Robin said. "Uh, hello, Delta."

He didn't quite respond any more than a twitch of the head.
Robin just pouted and sighed.
"Well, at least he's like he always is." She said.

Sarvesh came out, complete with rations on his plate, and Delta rolled his chair up to the table, starting to eat.
<Sorry about that, Sarvesh. He's definitely not a people person.>
<It's... alright, I guess.> He responded.
>>
>>25015699
<I'll make it up to you later. I'm hoping that eventually we'll be able to teach him proper manners.

What's on the menu for today Chef Sarvesh?>
>>
>>25015699
<He's more of a tech person. Once you get him started on a design, you two could probably go on for hours.>
>>
>>25015699
"Hey, Ellie! How's the new exosuit? Have you tried out the grappling hook yet?"
>>
>>25015699

<I wouldn't count on an actual conversation, but he says more when you talk about designs and such.>
>>
>>25015755
>Once you get him started on a design, you two could probably go on for hours
That has not at all been the case when we talked to him about tech just now.
>>
"Hey, Ellie, how's the new exosuit? Have you tried out the grappling hook yet?"
"I want to get back to Heaven's Jewel so I can *really* test it out." She said.

<I'll make it up to you later. I'm hoping that eventually we'll be able to teach him proper manners. What's on the menu for today Chef Sarvesh?>
<Whatever you want.> Sarvesh responded. <I'm feeling raring to go, once I got some sleep. It's almost lunch time, so people will start coming in soon.>
As soon as he said that, Lin came in, alongside someone else... strange. Someone with a venetian mask, porcelain white save for some strange markings around the edges. You saw- and felt- sensors in the mask, connected to his optical nerves, quite literally integrated into his face. He was augmented, in his arms and legs, small cables throughout the man's entire body.
"Oh, Hello." The man said, and nodded to Anna. "Spider."
Then he nodded to you. "And the new drake! Just in name, I hear, so you can get a weapon license! Clever!"
"... Jabberwocky." Anna tested- she looked unsure.
"Indeed! Though you can call me Evan." He said, and removed his mask- and other than a band of polycarbon covering the bridge of his nose and where his eyes should be, covered in ports, he was a handsome man, much older than you thought by his young voice. He turned to Lin. "Have you decided yet?"
"I have no interest in joining Blackreach." Lin said.
"With your powers, you'd be an excellent assassin."
>>
>>25015857
Ignore Jabberwocky, use Technopathy on the mask, it probably won't talk much back but it might be constructed in an interesting way. Same with his implants.
>>
>>25015745
The only way he can be taught proper manners is by having empathy beamed into him.

He's really easy to read if you work based on the assumption that he doesn't have any emotions except "Desire to build". He builds and designs things, and that's all he wants to do. Anything which will help him build and design things is good, anything which will hinder his ability to do this is bad.

Empathy would hinder him, so he won't want it. Manners do not have any impact on his ability ot build and design, so he doesn't want it. Collaboration with another expert might help him, so he will put up with it. Understanding his powers would definitely help him, so he will do it. Ruling the world wouln't really help him, so there's little chance that he'll ever take initiative and attack anything himself.

He'll follow whoever he believes will allow him access to technology he hasn't seen before, meaning we have two choices: Stop him thinking in these terms (Via either killing him or empathy beam), or make him think that following us after VQ will give him access to more tech than following Armatek would.

I am sort of debating with myself the morality involved in forcing a sense of empathy on somebody who does not have or want it, but who also doesn't understand the concept at a base level. It's a bit of a conundrum. Of course, you also have the issue of his reaction. How do you feel if somebody has just put empathy in your head where there was none before, and before it happened you didn't want or understand empathy at all? Are you grateful? Angry? Confused is a given, but beyond that, it's hazy.

Maybe I'm reading into this a bit far. Possibly overstepping my boundries.
>>
>>25015857
"Hello. Recruiting for members?"
>>
>>25015857

"Hello, umm, nice to meet you?"
>>
>>25015882
Honestly? I think we should just leave him alone. Dude should realize by now that Armatek is gonna get fucked up and that we've got bleeding edge tech production going on here thanks to Omni. If nothing else, he's easy to manipulate. If it comes down to that.
>>
>>25015857
"I knew as soon as Anna mentioned you that you'd show up sometime."
>>
>>25015882
>meaning we have two choices
We can just do nothing. He already knows that if he helps us take the VQ down he gets recabulators, which he really really wants to build his "ultimate design". Armatek can't match that, and they won't be around for much longer anyway. I personally don't care about keeping him around after the bad guys are dealt with.

>I am sort of debating with myself the morality involved in forcing a sense of empathy on somebody who does not have or want it, but who also doesn't understand the concept at a base level.
We did it with Devourer. But that was a kill or be killed sort of situation. As long as he's not bothering anybody we don't have to resort to forcing him to change. Whether he'll like it if we give it to him is impossible to predict (or maybe really easy if you're Damien).
>>
>>25015988
Doing nothing means he goes back into Armatek control, and they use him against us.

A wild animal is most dangerous when backed into a corner. Armatek as a corporation is going down the creek, but Armatek as a shadow research organisation with a massive hate-on for us has only just begun.
>>
"Hello. Recruiting for members?"
"On my off-time, yes." Evan said. "Technically, I've been hired by the United Planets Alliance to make certain that neither Armatek nor the Void Queen can come here. Quite boring, but it's better than the overt combat the rest of blackreach will be doing."

He raised an eyebrow- which looked quite strange, with an entire slot missing from his eye area- and gave you a grin.
"Nice to meet you."
"... Hello, um, nice to meet you too? I knew as soon as Anna mentioned you that you'd show up sometime."
"I have a nasty habit of doing that, don't I?" He asked.
"Nice to meet you too." Anna said.
He ruffled her hair. "I thought you retired when you came here."
"I did. Technically." Anna said.

You examine Jabberwocky's mask, and reach into it-
<Daughter of Dragon.> The voice said. <You know, this could be considered an invasion of privacy. Hahaha. They did brief me on your powers. Technopathy's this one, right? But feel free, look around. I've hidden all the data I can't really let you see. And not just digitally, but physically hidden.>
>>
>>25015882
Leave him alone for now, we need his soulless machines for Void Queen killing.
>>
>>25016090
Yeah, I was thinking about later, when VQ has been dealt with.
>>
>>25016084
<Impressive.>
>>
>>25016084

"Mask is like Anna's implants then."
>>
>>25016033
>Armatek as a corporation is going down the creek, but Armatek as a shadow research organisation with a massive hate-on for us has only just begun.
Nah. We're already 78 threads in, there's not going to be a whole new arc. The quest will end once the BBEG is dealt with.

>>
<Ahh, so this is like Anna's implant. There is no personality, just you.>
<Maybe this machine's personality is functionally identical to the real jabberwocky? That'd be a way to throw you off, wouldn't it? Maybe give it an identity to believe that it *is* the owner.> The mask asked.
<I wasn't trying to invade, I tend to do this when I meet interesting tech.> You say. <T-that sounded better in my head. Wait, we're talking with our mind... Sorry.>

"You said that UPA hired you to keep Armatek and the Void Queen out of our hair. Why would they hire *you*?"
"You're saying that this job doesn't play to my strengths." Jabberwocky said.
"Yeah." Anna said. "You're a hacker."
"... Then why did you take so many combat missions? We both know that's not your strength." Jabberwocky said.
"You're changing the subject." Anna said again.
"Yep!" He said, and turned to face Sarvesh. "If it isn't too much trouble, could you kindly make me something, Sarvesh? I have no preferences, and it's been years since I've had centaur cuisine."

I don't think he's really here to keep Armatek or VQ out of here. That might be what he's officially here for, but it feels to me that he's got another objective. He's a hacker, so it might have something to do with Omni.

<How?> You ask.
<Like... It's... hard to explain.> Sarvesh said.
"If you don't mind me asking, how would you go about keeping Armatek, and especially the void queen, outside or away from this station?"
"Navcoms." He said. "I've control of the navigation computer network, so I can basically control their computers. Even the void queen has to somehow... manifest an entangled quantum router in order to fly. Both sets, one in the navcom facility, one on her ships." He said. "So I just find those when they're manifested, redirect her... In theory. It hasn't happened yet."

You start to concentrate on Knowledge- When something buzzed, loudly, his mask buzzing.
"Well, shit." He said. "That'll be Armatek. Gotta go."

He sprinted out of the room, slipping on his mask, locking it into the socket where his eyes and the bridge of his nose should be. You felt all of his quantum routers start buzzing, as he made his way to one of the hangars, quickly. It made him... Hard to focus on. It almost felt like, to use Robin's terminology- his Where was vibrating, wiggling around. Difficult to lock onto.
>>
>>25016512

But she doesn't. She can just use another copy of Apocalypse, who was designed like Omni to do all the calculations of bubble drive flight without a connection. She doesn't care about abusing AIs.

it may or may not have been the first attempt to mechanize psionics.

"The vibe I got wasn't exactly... bad." Sarvesh said.
You pull up your personacom. "Theta, there's a small chance of us melting my brain in a minute. Cafeteria."

<I can still taste food, jerk!>

<look at the pretty girl! this is way better than a mirror.>

let's try to walk towards a chair.

i wonder how the world would react if we pouted now, not advocating we do it though.
>>
<Whoah, trippy.> You say. <And a bit too disorienting to be useful.>
<Is it?> He asked.
"If you give me rations, I'll cut you." The girl said, in your voice. Then you got an idea...
>Then she turned to you-, Damien's precognition said, layered upon your sight.
Then she turned to you
>-and pouted
And pouted.

You felt guilt, powerful guilt for making this girl sad. She pouted at you, begging you why you did this- she made you feel... guilty. Ever more guilty... so you pouted at her. And her pout grew-

And then Damien winced, and looked away.
<... Whatever that was, try not to do it.> He said. <I'm an innocent bystander.
>>
>>25017806
<Mwahahahahaha. Pout feedback loop!>
Then do the boob thing.

<Empath beams.>
>>
<Sorry, it was an experiment.> You say. <I wanted to see how much damage a pout feedback loop would cause.>
"Sorry, sorry." Sarvesh said. "I'll get you some real food, then."
Damien guided you to sit down, and soon enough, Sarvesh came out with actual food for you and Damien. He started to eat, making sure to keep his eyes on you so you could see what you were eating. You speared a bunch of noodles, and started to eat.
<Looking through cameras don't do this?> Damien asked.
<Nope.> You say- as you normally recognized yourself, while here, you were looking at yourself from an outside perspective. Well, normally, you weren't constantly oogling your own breasts and butt. It was a unique way to see things, that was for sure.
>>
>>25017923

><Nope.> You say- as even with cameras, you normally recognized yourself, while here, you were looking at yourself from an outside perspective.

"it's very strange"
>>
>>25017923
Wow, still? Damien's pretty fixated, we've known him for weeks and weeks and he's still staring at our assets at every opportunity.
<Cameras I can control myself, so it's just like having a different field of view, while here I'm just along for the ride as it were.>

>>25017971

>>
<... You know I see exactly where you're looking, right? The cameras don't focus so much on my assets>
<... Right, sorry.> He said, and shifted to oogling Robin instead. She caught his look, and went red, looking steadfastly away. So he oogled Theta's currently-female form.
You continued eating, while everyone else talked around you, and Delta rolled out of the room, his food done. A few moments later, your ears popped, and you could hear Theta talking through your own ears.
"So I *could* fix his legs, but he doesn't want me to. He says he'd have to waste time learning to walk if I did." Theta was saying- and suddenly, you could see from your own perspective, too.

>>
>>25018161

Ogle Robin, Damien, Theta, Sarvesh, Anna, whoever else is here that Heather could conceivably want to ogle.

We're supposed to be taking it easy for a bit after all.

We're pretty sure she won't want to talk about it whatsoever.
>>
>>25018308
Let's spend some time with Robin alone later and ask her about it.

I think this should be a private thing to talk to her about.
>>
>>25018334
She does consider Heather a friend. She might like the opportunity to talk to someone about it.
>>
>>25018308

>>
"Gotta look at it from his point of view." You say. "'Does it help me design things? No? I don't want it.' Also, my senses are back, I think."
"Good to hear." Damien said.
"Yeah, that makes sense." Theta said.
You relax, and simply eat, oogling everyone there for all of lunch. Soon enough, your noodles were done, and you sat back, relaxing. Soon enough, Theta got to his feet.
"Alright, you. Tell me *before* you do something. Don't be all 'yeah I'm going to DIE so drop everything and rush over here'. Alright?"
>>
>>25018394
"I totally wasn't going to die."

"Fair enough. Sorry about that. It just seemed urgent, at the time. Everyone's a bad influence on eachother, you see. When we keep having people pass out or bleed from their brains, well..."
"Hey, I only did that once!" Anna said.
"Same with me." Sarvesh said. "And the time I did it, it was to save everyone's lives."
"... Fair enough." Theta said. "See y'all. And thanks for the personacom, Heather."
"Wait, have you got more free time? I was gonna try that light control again."
"Yeah, I do." He said. "Come on, this way."

You follow Theta all the way to a large, mostly empty room, with cameras along all of the walls, and he sat back in one of the corners. He pulled open a cabinet, and it had nutrient slushies and biscuits in it.
"Alright, ready." He said. "Go ahead."

You keep your eyes open, and focus on the visible wavelengths of light...

Soon enough, you had to let go, taking a break.
Theta munched on some of the biscuits, sitting back, and you tried again.

A few minutes later, you sat on the ground, wheezing. Your entire body was exhausted, and you've been doing no better than you had before. You hadn't improved at all. Then again, at least you didn't get worse...

You close your eyes, reach out...

And then, carefully, you twist light around you, bending and reflecting it.
"... You just went all... soap bubbly." Theta said. "Rainbows and stuff."
You open your eyes, and light all seemed off, somehow, as light twisted and distorted around you.

Experimentally, you let go of that, as light returned to normal...
And then, carefully, you funneled it inward, forward into a spiral of light.

And a laser of white light shot from nowhere, hitting the wall. Theta experimentally stuck his hand into the beam.
"It's warm, but that's it." He said. "Like sunlight."

"Ooh, harsh." You say. "Vwoosh, vwoosh!" You call, and start waving about the laser, pretending it was a sword. He chuckled. "I wonder if I could mechanically do this. We could all have laser swords!"
"It wouldn't get hot enough, I don't think." He said. "But I'm not very good with tech, so if you want to try, go ahead." He said, and chuckled.

Einstein chirped.
<It's Manus.> Manus said. <I'm fine, and on the station. I returned while you were on Kushida. I was wondering if we could have a talk. It's... not very important, but something that worries me. I'm... thinking I'm going to cut off your isochamber access.>
>>
So a theory on why jabber is actually on the station. Remember that dude who tried to kill Lin at the restaurant? My bet is he hired jabberwocky to finish Lin off, because he couldn't use his own goons because they stoon no chance of getting here. Us joining blackreach is the perfect oppurtunity to slip in an assassin under the guise of checking out the new member. They hired him because he's the unpredictable hacker dude that might be able to counteract us as well as gather data on us and delete data on them.

It's either that, or the UPA hired him to find out if Lin is actually connected to Armatek or not (He could be another clone for all they know) and deal with him if necessary.
>>
>>25019141
<Alright, I'll come to your office... wherever that is on this station. I like the isochambers.> Little telepathic pout.
We can find him. It's a chance to test out our psionic sense we apparently have.
>>

>>
>>25019141
"Thanks for spotting for me, Theta. If you need me to do the same for you, just ask."

>>
<B-but... Damnit, I'll be right over so I can pout at you in person!>
"Gotta run, Theta. Dr. Manus wants to see me."
"Right." He said.
You make your way out of the room, and wander the halls of the station for a time, before knocking on one of the doors.
You walk in to see Manus with a cane on his lap, his leg wrapped up in gauze and bandages. His office was almost empty, save his tablet, a table, and a few chairs.
"Come on, sit down." He said, and you sit down. "What I'm worried about is the idea of you building up a conceptual... crutch, so to speak. A dependency on the isolation chambers. You've used them almost every time you go out to use clairvoyance or long range telepathy."
>>
>>25019238
"Oh. Well, that's because those things barely work for me without an isochamber."
>>
>>25019238
"Alright, that's understandable. But the last time I used them was when I needed to talk to the ArmaTek satellite. Not to mention when I *don't* use the isochamber, my brain seems to leak."
>>
>>25019238
Well yeah, that's how I do long range telepathy. The Isochambers let me do it.
>>
>>25019238
"Have I? I remember using it tons of times without the chamber, I just use the chamber when I really really need to focus, which is kind of the point of it, isn't it?"
>>
>>25019238
Oh. Um. You might have a point. I haven't even tried to do long range telepathy without it. Or long range clairvoyance.
>>
>>25019270
We did talk to that while in the bubble drive, does that count as long range?
>>

"How's the [body part that was damaged] by the way?"

That's exactly the kind of crutch he's talking about.

We are fully capable of doing it without isochambers.
>>
>>25019238
"If I try to do it without an isochamber it doesn't work. Or I start leaking brain like when I disabled Robin's implant. There are so many things I want to train at the moment and doing long distances without an isochamber isn't nearly as exciting as laser hands!"

>>25019331
We've done it plenty of times outside the chambers, that satalite was atleast a couple light years away.
>>
>>25019356
(I know, but thats the crutch he is talking about. Heather won't even try. She's using technopathy as an excuse. Technopathy is a lie remember? All we're doing is using the drones as yet another crutch, our thoughts are travelling the same distance.)
>>
>>25019380
No it wasn't. It was just on the other side of the planet. We'd already come out of bubble drive.

>Lowest common denominator- psionic powers that you don't fail at, and don't even need to roll for. Telepathy, mid-strength telekinesis, etc. That's what the 'out of range' is about.
>And then psionics you roll for. 'Effort'. Everything that you can fail at.

"I just use them when I really really need to focus, which is kind of the point of it, isn't it?"
"The point is to allow developing psions to feel out their powers, without the distraction of their other senses." He said. "Like Lin, or Ellie. Sarvesh has taken to using them as well- not to help him use the powers he does have, but to learn new ones."
"If I try to do it without an isochamber it doesn't work. Or I start leaking brain like when I disabled Robin's implant. There are so many things I want to train at the moment, and doing long distances without an isochamber isn't nearly as exciting as laser hands!"
"... Alright, I won't bar you from the isochambers." He said. "I will, however, give you an allotment of... only five to seven hours a week, barring emergencies."

"And how's the leg, by the way?"
"This?" He asked- and you caught a flash-
>A demiurg soldier, firing a sizzling plasma weapon at Manus. He dove out of the way, but the plasma caught his leg. He screamed- and shoved a nearby shelf down on the demiurg. Then, limping, took a chair in hand- and started bringing it down on the fallen demiurg's helmet, over and over again.
"It's fine." He said.

Were we not in bubble drive when we spoke to it while booking it after grabbing techboy?
>>
>>25019458
>Ellie
Wat.
>>
>>25019458
"Holy shit that was cool."

"Yo, can we turn the old station into a mobile battlebase?"
>>
>>25019458
Woah. You're significantly more badass then I thought.

Nice move with the dark particle emitters, by the way. How did you think of it?
>>
>>25019458
I'm glad you're alright. Wish I could have been there to help. I'm sorry Dr, Manus
>>
>>25019458
"That's good. Not getting Theta to fix it?"
"I will try not to use the isochambers so much."
>>
>>25019486
Exabyte letting plot points slip.
>>
>>25019458
"Woah, that was pretty badass."

"Oops, sorry, I kind of picked up on your fight for a second there."
>>
>>25019458
"Ellie's been using them? I thought she wasn't a psion."
>>
>>25019458
>>A demiurg soldier, firing a sizzling plasma weapon at Manus. He dove out of the way, but the plasma caught his leg. He screamed- and shoved a nearby shelf down on the demiurg. Then, limping, took a chair in hand- and started bringing it down on the fallen demiurg's helmet, over and over again.
that was badass Doc I got a flash of what happened. anyways I discovered 2 of 3 parts that make up psionics and Empathy is a psionic power.
>>
"I'm glad you're alright. Wish I could've been there to help. Sorry, Dr. Manus."
"It's fine. You just would've been in danger." He said.
"Woah. That was pretty badass." You say.
"What?"
"Sorry, I kind of picked up on your fight for a second there." You say.
"Oh, okay." He said. "It wasn't *that* badass. More badass would've been not getting hit."
"And Ellie's been using them? I thought she wasn't a psion."
"She hasn't been using them, no." He said. "I just believe she is, and if I were able to talk her into trying one out, we'd find out for certain."
Then he sighed.
"Well... There's a bit more about researching about non-psions learning psionic disciplines." He said. "If empathy is one like you've been saying, then theoretically we all have the ability to learn something."
>>
>>25019588
"If you're willing to take the risk, I could try giving you the perfect recall thing. I mean, you said that'd be your favorite, right?"
>>
>>25019588
Hey Dr Manus... Do you want me to give you Retrocognition? It doesn't seem to have any cost, and I don't get tired or brain bleeds from using it.
I should be able to recall the virus and give it to you now, if you want.
>>
Ellie can pout too, can't she? Not as good as Heather's, but she can do some damage with it.
>>
>>25019588
"That blackreach guy is slightly psionic by the way."
>>
>>25019588
"It definitely is. I wouldn't have been able to teach it to Devourer with the technopathy virus otherwise. And when I first used Knowledge I sensed the empathy bond Robin made when she made eye contact with me and communicated through it. And Knowledge also says there's actually a psionic empathy component to my famous pouts."
>>
"I'm certain that the Demiurg are as well, but empathy isn't something they have.
Oh yes, and my Knowledge tells me that I've actually been using a weaponized form of empathy for just about all my life." And then pout at him.
>>
>>25019675
Don't forget to include the cleavage.
>>
>>25019588
"What about the telepathic worm?"
>>
>>25019689
inb4 Manus is hard gay.
>>
>>25019704
Wouldn't make any difference.
>>
>>25019588
there's also the fact the the demiurg are a race of telepaths
>>
>>25019722
The cleavage wouldn't affect him at best.
At worse, it would lower the effectiveness of the overall pout.
>>
"It definitely is." You say. "I wouldn't have been able to teach it to Devourer with the technopathy virus otherwise." You say.
"Actually, the technopathy virus is more than just a method to transfer psionic ability." He said. "It allows for subconscious understanding of... well, anything. If you'd put any habits or talents into the virus, that would be transferred over as well. It... forcefully overrides someone's thought process to insert its own."
You pause, and then nod and continue.
"And when I first used Knowledge I sensed the empathy bond Robin made when she made eye contact with me and communicated through it. And Knowledge also says there's actually a psionic empathy component to my famous pouts."
"Well, I assume there is an empathic component to your pouting." He said. "Since empathy is so integral to communication."
You nod, and think for a while.

"Hey, Dr. Manus... Do you want me to give you Retrocognition? It doesn't seem to have any cost, and I don't get tired or brain bleeds from using it." you say. "I should be able to recall the virus and give it to you now, if you want."

"Well-"

Einstein and Manus's tablet both beeped.
<... My parents are awake.> Alex messaged you.

>End of thread!
>Also, no quest tomorrow.
>>
>>25019758
Damnit! SuperManus eludes us again!
>>
>>25019758
Thanks for running, Exa!
>>
>>25019758
>forcefully overrides
That's not so cool.

We've got to be more careful when we use this thing.
>>
>>25019744
We don't know he's gay so we think it would increase the effectiveness so it would increase the effectiveness. It's psionics, I don't have to explain shit.
>>
>>25019758
Time for tech.

We know the forcefields shred any matter they come into contact with. Strap one to the front of a missile, and it now has a shield against PD and can bore right through the thickest of armor to explode inside causing massive cavitation.
>>
>>25019861
Isn't Manus going out with Professor/Doctor Neva? That would kind of point to him not being gay given that Neva is a chick.
>>
>>25019788
Well, that's just his take on it, it's not necessarily the case.
>>
>>25019905
He's terrified of Neva, but I don't think he's gay either, I don't recall it ever being hinted at.
>>
>>25019788
More careful?
We used it once with Robin who didn't have a thought process for doing TK to override in the first place, and once with Devourer who we knowingly mindraped into being a nice guy so he wouldn't turn into Void Queen 2.0. That's it.
>>
>>25019905
I think he's actively trying to avoid Neva going out with him. For some reason.
>>
>>25019905
I don't think Neva is giving him a choice about going out with her.
>>
>>25019910
Well we did hear the VQ's minions beg for help, so there might be some way to throw it off.

>>25019917
Well that's the thing. I thought we were giving the devourer a new sense: empathy. So that he could make his own descisions about killing people/making friends with people. I never would have wanted to mind rape him into becoming a 'good guy'. That's immoral.

People were talking about giving Delta empathy, but if that involves mind raping him into not being him anymore, I'm 100% against it.
>>
>>25019915
Why would him being terrified of Neva have anything to do with him going out with her?

>>25019920
When has that been shown? We stumbled onto her in his office speaking all sultry to him, and when he was hurt she was distressed about him trying to be a hero.

It looks like a relationship, just one they keep quiet around us kids and a couple instances of fearboners are perfectly acceptable.
>>
>>25019980
>I never would have wanted to mind rape him into becoming a 'good guy'. That's immoral.
It was necessary. That or kill him, which we didn't seem to be able to do even if we wanted.
>>
>>25019993
He jumped at the chance to run away from that sultry office scene.
>>
>>25020022
When his students walked in. I don't think the professors really want to be showing off their relationships in front of us.
>>
>>25020009
No, see if we remove his 'Hunger' and then also allow him to know the cost of killing people, then he can make his own choice to kill or not to kill. Then, had he chosen to continue killing people, we could have stopped/killed him. That is reasonable and acceptible.

Just Forcibly making him a good guy is wrong, and might come back to bite us, if he can throw it off like the VQ's minions seemed to be capable of.
>>
>>25020050
He then proceeded to flee and hide rather than return to his office.
>>
>>25020052
You know we have no way of knowing if that's actually what we did.

This is just Manus' speculation. You seem to be panicking rather hard about it.
>>
>>25020052
>No, see if we remove his 'Hunger' and then also allow him to know the cost of killing people
And we would do that without the technopathy virus or other mind control how, exactly?
>>
>>25020083
I think you misunderstand. I'm trying to argue that it is very very easy to do the wrong thing with the virus, and we need to double check and make sure that any future things we do with it are clean and safe and morally permissible.
What's done with the devourer is done. Although it would probably be a good idea to figure out _what_ we have done.
>>
>>25020131
If you want to make things clean, safe and morally permissable, we should probably compile a list of every machine we've ever technopathied (and awakened), because technically they are all now sentient beings.
>>
>>25020185
I'm not sure that they are. From Sigma's explanation, they're only 'alive' while we talked to them. At least until recently, when our power has become stronger.

Maybe we can use Ms Satellite to test things? Or the frigate? The frigate was the first one I can think of that actually took independent action.
