Events Summary:

Auriel was working with the angel Michael to restore her powers. You communicated with her telepathically, begging her for help and informing her of Michael's insanity. Before she acted, however, you managed to burst free of your cage and attack and consume Michael.

You snuck into the city sewers and used them to access the underground complex holding the souls of many Shadow and Spirit mages captive. You destroyed the magic holding them in place - and the suddenly-freed slaves immediately turned on their masters, throwing the city into chaos.

Intent on helping them escape, you rushed to the Airship Noiralev to consume its core and use its power, but you ran into Auriel and Flint in the engine room. They explained that they'd found the remains of one of Michael's victims. That - combined with Flint's encouragement, and her own experiences - has led her to put her trust in you.

In one swoop, she took command of the ship, turned its crew against Sandalphon's despotism, and used it as a rallying point for the embattled shadow mages huddled inside the collapsing city.

Meanwhile, you used your powers to overclock the airship's dynamo, directing its firepower and shields far beyond their normal abilities - but even still, you were overwhelmed, and your efforts destroyed the dynamo in the process. Before the airship was destroyed, you were able to charge its jump drive and teleport to safety.

The battle has rendered the Noiralev useless, but you managed to safely guide the craft to one of many stone plataeus in the Shiprakers, an isolated and desolate region where Tarun Gakth meets the sea.

Ability Tree

GREEN abilities have been unlocked and learned.

BLUE abilties are unlocked, but are not yet purchased.

RED abilities are revealed, but locked due to prerequisites.

UNDERLINED abilities are active-use, as opposed to passive. Not all active abilities require mana.

Unlocked Ability Descriptions:

Books the Main Character has read:

http://pastebin.com/dAXR00gP

-----------
Active (intent-use abilities that don't require mana)
-----------

Consume - Devour the latent energy of enemies and magical artifacts to add to your own power and restore your health.

Glide - Your aura allows you to glide, dropping safely from large heights or covering large distances if starting from a high position. Gliding is always stealthier than flying.

Flight - Spread wings of darkness to soar through the air. Carrying capacity is based on physical strength.

Supersonic - Fly at supersonic speeds. You'll move extremely fast, but suffer a large penalty to stealth and magic stealth. Takes 1 turn to activate.

Mimic - Take on the vague form of things you've seen. Won't stand up to close examination, but works well in the dark.

Snuff - You shadow can put out the lights it touches.

Blink - Sight-range teleportation. (Cannot blink through walls, through the ground, into places you can't see, etc. 5-turn cooldown in battle. Auto-cooldown if battle ends. You can only Blink yourself and inanimate objects on your person. Max range 1/4 mile or 0.4 kilometers)

Focus - With a burst of concentration, you can significantly improve your detection of both the mundane and magical, but you also drastically increase the risk of giving yourself away. (think sonic ping)

Deep Focus - Long-range focus with heightened detection and scouting ability, but with a correspondingly higher chance of revealing yourself.

Berserk - Ignore your defenses and strike all around you in a vicious physical assault. Difficult to determine friend from foe.

Doom Aura - Puts out all lights in an area at once. Large penalty to dodge if used during battle.

Compress - By sacrificing strength and defense, you can compress yourself and your aura to the size of a small mouse, greatly increasing dodge and physical and magical stealth. Warning: requires a turn to activate and deactivate.

-----------
Spells (and other abilities that DO use mana)
-----------

Shadow Strike - Strike the foe with needles of darkness. (base power 2. Costs 2 mana)

Shadow Assault - Launch a flurry of shadowy projectiles at the enemy. (base power 4. Costs 4 mana. Can hit multiple enemies)

Shadow Beam - A concentrated beam of shadow power. Attacks faster than shadow strike/assault, and is more accurate. (Costs 6 mana; 6 base damage)

Nightflare - Disrupt target spell or enchantment. (costs 2 mana)

Nightblaze - Cancel enchantments and spells in an area around you. Success and range based on mana spent. (Spend 4 to 10 mana. Radius: 30 feet. Additional 20 feet per mana. Alternate: Spend 10 mana to attempt to cancel any one single spell in sight-range with a greatly enhanced success rate)

Shadowmeld - Magic-based stealth. Pay any amount of mana. Physical and magical stealth increases based on how much mana was spent until stealth is broken. Can be used to re-stealth mid-battle.

Shade - Create an illusory projection of yourself to confuse enemies. (dodge buff. Costs 1 mana)

Spirit Whip - Lash the enemy with a whip of spirit magic. (base power 2. Costs 2 mana)

Bind - Trap an enemy in ropes of spirit magic. May spend 0 to 10 mana (determines strength).

Water Strike - A pressurized blast of water imbued with magical force. (2 base power. Costs 2 mana)

Heal - Spend either 2, 4, or 6 mana to heal a target 4, 7, or 10 HP, respectively.

>>
>Last time...

You tried to capture Duke Vellik...and then, Sir Flint accidentally killed him. If it was anyone else, you wouldn't have believed it was 'accidental'.

You also have trouble believing that the shadow mages have mistaken Flint's incredibly bad luck, brought on by the parasite, for incredible competence.

You decide there's no need to rectify that assumption. At least, not immediately.

It could prove amusing. Besides, you judge that Flint deserves a little respect.

"Well, can't say I'm terribly torn up about it," Auriel says, eyeing the duke's corpse. "Let's dump the body and get to important matters."

You briefly search the duke's body, but you don't find the key to the great vault under Jacob's Field. You consider consuming the body, but when two of Auriel's men move to swing it over the side of the cliff, you don't stop them. The duke's black robes flap in the wind as his body plummets into the water with a tiny splash.

And that, you think to yourself, is the end of Duke Vellik. He should have known better.

"Shadow. Care to explain your reasoning in bringing us out to the middle of nowhere?" Auriel asks.

<Isolated. Safe. And...we might possibly find an ally in Tarun Gakth.>

She nods. "You're thinking of Steward. But can you be sure he's an ally?"

<I think so...if we can find them.>

"But what about the meantime?" she asks. "We need food. Water. Shelter. All of the above."

"Shadow, if I may," Ila says. "What exactly are your plans?"

<Well,> you say, <I've had a few ideas. But it will take time to explain. Let us gather the crew.>

Auriel nods. "The ship is shelter enough, for now. Even with this many people, we've enough supplies to last a day or two, but water's going to be a problem, fast."

Things we should do (nationbuilding version). Each step should take up to a day to a week.

1) Make a series of wells and have any mages who have water in their souls be in charge of making pure water. Proceed to make a small city inside one of the plateaus.
2) Hunt for ocean life for food. While underwater, keep an eye out for shipwrecks, both normal ships and Airships. Get the shadow mages to work and play with the angels through motivational speeches.
3) Contact Obis with help from spirit mages. Tell him to meet us in Archon, and if his smuggler friend knows the area/locals.
4) Find a group of pirates. Engage in diplomacy with them after we lift their ship into the air and place it on a small plateau. If they refuse to help, leave them there for a few days until they agree. (skip this step if we have have gotten helpful information regarding locals from Smuggler contact)
5) Use informaton received from pirates or contact of local shipwrecks to hunt for treasure for capitol.
6) Contact the Orcs, ask if they want a mutual defense pact for each other, or other plan to help each other out. Remove power core from shadow golem in the temple. Show them airship. Offer to bring some along if we get it back up and running.
7) Visit City 1 or nearest location of active Steelskin Golem. Give them the Shadow core from golem. Convince them to help us again by mentioning our airship, as well as the late Duke of Kelvere's Dwarven Artefact collection, as well as an Airship or two.
8) Create a pool of shadow in a distant plateau, so as to minimize damage. Try to create a Dynamo, using pool of shadow and the shadow mages, with a sheild of light to protect the rest of the mages from a magic nuke (hole in top to excape). Get golems help to make a frame for the Dynamo. Form a ball of shadow from the mages magic, then spin it using flight, then supersonic. Install in Noiralev when finished. (skip this step if we found a dynamo to use)

>continued
>>
>>25405556
9) Fly to Jacob's field with our new friends (pirates, orcs, golems, others to be announced). Wreck Kan-Abar occuping army's shit during the middle of the night.
10) After a brief fly-by to Archon, Get our ass to Dobshire. Find clues to solving Flint's parasite problem.

TIME FOR TL;DR!!!!

>Note: I did not want this to become Empire Quest; the focus is on Shadow, and, in-character, you don't really have a wish to govern humans personally. Your opinions and actions will always be important in shaping the world, and you can personally direct things in the future if you'd like (assuming you reach such a position of power) but I won't go so far as to have you directing the construction of individual pieces of infrastructure and things like that. More grand-scale politics while you're not out adventuring.

>To that end, I built this conversation.

>>25405553

A few hours pass. Auriel's crew numbers 34 men and women, as well as 54 angels - 88 in total. All told, there are 329 Shadow mages, and 34 Spirit mages.

After everyone is accounted for and an afternoon meal is distributed, you meet with the head of each group on the airship's bridge. The wide glass viewport is shattered where it crunched into the ground, but a wide table set high in the back makes for easy discussion.

Ila and Cain, and a Spirit mage named Hamil sit on one side of the table. Auriel and Tyrael sit on the other. Flint leans in a chair on one end, and you sit opposite him.

There's a bit of quiet. You see Ila's fingers move in that strange, silent talk they use. She looks at Cain out of the corner of her eye. ~Should we speak?~

~No,~ Cain gestures back. ~Let the angels speak first. Or Shadow, if he will. I am uncertain of what to say, in any case.~

~Me too. Perhaps the demonslayer will say something?~

~Sir Flint?~

~Yes.~

~Maybe,~ Cain says. ~You should ask Shadow what their relationship is, in the future.~

~Why me?~ Ila gestures rapidly.

~You're obviously Shadow's favorite. You've known him the longest.~

~You think so?~

~Probably.~

It seems they don't realize you can understand what they're saying. You should probably clear that up at some point.

As an add to that, if we can find any experts at management tasks within our current ranks it would be a good idea to put their skills to use in helping with all the things.

>>25405612

Auriel lets her hands rest on the table. "Well...I suppose we need to figure out our next move." No one responds, and Auriel takes that as permission to continue. "The Shiprakers was a good choice for the jump - certainty of safety was probably our biggest concern, considering we almost got cut in half by the Ragnarok. But there's few resources, and no easy source of fresh water. In any case, I don't have any intention to build some sort permanent residence here - it's impractical. I think our best chance is to establish ourselves somewhere."

"What exactly are you suggesting?" Ila says softly.

Auriel looks around the table. "We've driven a wedge into the Ring City. I am Fifth Highest - and many other angels, and citizens of the empire, would share the sentiments I shared earlier. If we give them a point at which to nucleate, a banner to fall under - we may be able to not only protect ourselves, but expand our influence greatly, while weakening theirs."

"But where?" Tyrael asks.

"...I might have suggested Kelvere," Auriel says, "but considering Duke Vellik is...out of the picture...I suppose his double has taken over, for now. Felnoir is more acceptable, but it is relatively weak, and may be unwilling to take us in. I think the best choice - the strike of greatest precision - would be Arland.

Flint, who has been taking a sip of water, begins to choke, and spends a few moments in hacking coughs. When he finally gets his throat cleared, he stares at Auriel. "Arland? Why there?"

"Simple," Auriel says. "We have one of the most powerful noblemen in Arland on our side, even if he tends ot ignore the fact." She smiles. "I also have it on good authority that the mysterious Sir Flint, 'Demonslayer of Dobshire', has become a massive figure in the eyes of the public while we were running around the wastes looking for Adavan."

Flint blinks. "...well, I mean...you did most of the work, and it's not very - "

"You were popular before, too," Auriel says.

>con't
>>
>>25405646

Flint waves his hands plaintiffly. "That sort of thing is just exaggerated politics. You really shouldn't give it any weight."

"I have it on good authority that the the fourth son was the favorite of the people of Arland," she says, "because he didn't give much weight to titles and pomp and circumstance and treated them as equals."

"Well, I mean - "

"So onto the outstanding reputation as an unflinching man of the people, your recent feats give you a rather heroic flavor," Auriel says. "Don't sell yourself short."

Flint pounds a fist on the table. "I'm not selling myself short!" Auriel draws back in surprise. Everyone looks at him. Flint draws in a long breath. "There's nothing to that sort of thing. I never fit in at court. I can't play that game, Auriel."

"You don't need to play their game," she says, "you need to play our game."

Flint looks unconvinced, and he voices his skepticism harshly. "So you want me to waltz back into the home I haven't been to in years with an army of shadow mages, a contigent of heretical angels, and the title of 'demon slayer', and take the world by storm. Is that it?"

"That's exactly it," she says. "Who will see that coming?"

"It's not happening."

"If I didn't believe we could do it, I wouldn't be talking about it," she says.

"I can't do it," Flint says. "Is that what you want from me? The admission of the fact? That is my brother's realm - my father's realm. I left because I didn't want it. Because I couldn't take it." Flint seems to suddenly realize he's spouting very personal feelings in front of complete strangers. He settles back into his chair with a embarrased look on his face.

"...I believe you can," Auriel says. "Because that's the kind of many you are." Flint's worry seems to soften. They look at each other for a long time.

i just realized that this desision is increadibly in character. we have, to this point, never had to think about the need for humans to eat. every human we have delt with has either taken care of this on their own, or we didnt deal with long enough for it. as an elemental, it is very in character for us to not remember in the heat of the moment how hard food is to get. and it makes us falable again to the shadow mages. i like it
>>
>>25405661

The quiet starts to get a bit awkward. Tyrael clears his throat.

"Ah..." Auriel says. "Well...before that, Flint, I think we need to take care of...you know."

He gives a small nod. "...after that...I'll make my decision then."

<On the note of establishing ourselves,> you say. <I had a thought, that does not involve Arland - but Keleve.>

"Really?" Ila asks. She, Cain, and Hamil seem very interested in your thoughts. Auriel and Flint listen attentively. Tyrael, however, looks suspicious.

<The duke was trying to bring something together,> you say. <A northern alliance to match the empire. Felnoir, Imil, and - once they had won the war - Kan-Abar. The duke's death leaves a power vaccum in the north - one that we could fill.>

"That's...a damn good idea, Shadow," Flint admits. "But we can't just - "

Flint stops. The table stares as you Replicate a spitting image of the duke. <But can't we?>

Cain and Ila grin, but Auriel shakes her head. "I don't know, Shadow. Bold action is one thing - but treachery and subversion? If we're found out, it would be very, very bad." She squints her eyes. "I can't be the only one here that thinks the duke died a little too easily."

Ila nods at that. "...if we know he uses one double...what's to say he doesn't use more?"

The thought sobers you.

"Well," Flint says. "I had thought we might go to Yi Fang?"

Auriel folds her arms and shakes her head. "He's as bad as Sandalphon," she says firmly.

"On this note, I agree with the Highest," Tyrael says. "I see your logic, Sir Flint, but I cannot accept Fang as a leader. He would eagerly shelter us - as he would just as quickly chain us to him."

Why not in the airship itself? That way we can tap into it for spinning in the ship before we acquire a dynamo, should we need to.

>>25405674

"...there is another," Cain says.

"...don't say it," Auriel says flatly.

"The Black Lady."

"Absolutely not."

"Why?" Cain asks. "Because she is Shadow?"

"No. Because she's a mad dictator that feeds on blood to survive. She has her own harem, Cain. A harem not to sate her lust, but her hunger."

"And from what source do you gather that information?" Ila asks. "Have you seen it in person? Or is that simply what the spies tell you, after filtration through Sandalphon?"

<Wait,> you ask Ila. <Wouldn't the shadow mages make the best spies? Don't you know for yourself?>

"They never sent us," she says. "We were for combat. Assasination. Too valuable for that kind of work - and what's the point, when there's perfectly useful mundanes that don't have to worry about hiding their magic?"

You tilt your head slightly. <She makes her point, Auriel.>

"Let me make mine," she says to you. "I've trusted you, Shadow. You are right. And I..." She stops, then starts again. "And I, was wrong." She looks at Ila, and Cain, and Hamil. "And I am sorry."

"Well," Hamil says, "that makes everything better. Sure am glad I have your apology, Highest."

"Have some respect," Tyrael snaps.

"Oh no, her lapdog's barking at me," Hamil says. "I'd better have some respect."

"Keep it up, see what happens."

Sparks of orange light glow in Hamil's eyes. "I'm not a slave anymore, lightshit."

Tyrael smirks. "Then since you can't hide behind your little handicap like a bitch, why don't we step outside and - "

"Lueitenant!" Auriel shouts. Tyrael slowly lowers back into his seat. She looks at Hamil. "...I did not mean to insinuate that a simple apology could make amends."

Hamil lets his power fade. He says nothing, but sits back against his chair.

Short term we need water and food for our mages and angels. We will also need to deal with the fallout from having both shadow mages and angels under the same roof, the shadow mages should probably do as we say since we are an elemental and they were just about to swear as fealty moments ago.

Auriel should be able to deal with the angels, the unsympathic ones probably took their chance to get away from the ship when they had the chance.
>>
>>25405612
Considering the social nature of the situation, we probably should be in our "traveler" humanoid form to make for easier conversation.

Perhaps we already were, our understanding of humans is getting fairly high. Vanity is important.

You are. You can generally assume that's the case for such situations.

>>25405699

"Shadow," Auriel starts again. "I can accept neither Archon nor Vampiria as acceptable destinations. If you go there, we part ways." She tilts her head. "We need to help the good knight...for that, we may need Fang. But beyond that issue, we should have as little to do with him as possible. I admit Kelvere holds more possibility, but I'm uncomfortable with such a deceit."

"As am I," Flint says to you. "I think we should go to Felnoir. Maybe the mages and build a new home in the Great Forest. The world has great enough problems. We'd just add another log on the fire."

"You underestimate yourself, Flint," Auriel says.

Flint says nothing.

"So..." AUriel says. She looks at you, and each head follows her gaze. "Here's what I think. You help Flint. In the meantime, we can establish some meager existence here, and when the time is right, we move into Arland. Or...elsewhere, if we agree on a location."

"What is the business you have with Sir Flint, Shadow?" Ila asks.

<A matter of dire importance,> you say, <but...it is between myself, Auriel, and Sir Flint.>

Ila looks dissapointed, but she nods in acceptance. "...I think your plan concerning Kelvere is a good one. But...we are Shadow mages. I am tired of a world that does not accept me." She looks up. "Even if it means leaving that world behind...I might not care, if it means safety. A place to call my own."

"I must agree with her, Shadow," Cain says. Hamil gives you a nod as well.

"You cannot throw in with the Black Lady," Tyrael says. "Once it came out, it would reflect terribly on the Highest."

"Does it look like we care?" Hamil asks.

<That is enough,> you say. You look at Hamil, and Tyrael. <Peace.>

"...I, too, wish to know your mind," Cain says to you. Ila and Hamil nod. Flint looks at you from his end of the table, his brow still furrowed in thought.

<I do not believe we can go to the Black Lady,> you say to the mages. <She is of our alignment...but Auriel is of Sandalphon's alignment, and they are like night and day. It is no measure of character. All I have heard of the Black Lady is bad - from all parties.>

"But we cannot know for sure," Ila insists.

<No,> you admit, <we cannot. But there is little sense taking the gamble when we have several more attractive options that do not split our opinions so desisively.>

Ila nods. "...I must concede to your wisdom, Shadow."

<It isn't wisdom,> you say, <merely the judgement of logic. More wise is your acknowledgement.>

Ila smiles brightly; Cain and Hamil seem appeased on the point. Flint and Auriel also nod with approval. You turn back to the table as a whole, thinking hard about what to say.
>>
>>25405863
Lets ask them what they know about it. That way we can decide based off of their knowledge.
>>
>>25405794
Make our own home here. It's nice enough, and we can live a quiet life here, if only for a little while...
>>
>>25405870
I think we should go with Kelvere or Arland. We need to find out what the Duke was up to. We also need to understand why he tried to kill Sir Flint. That was a pretty unexpected thing to me.
>>
>>25405768
I'm gonna laugh my tits off when we say this, and then Servant creates some kind of perfect vampire instead of shadow angels.
>>
>>25405794
>>We can build on the duke's network. Let's take command of Kelvere.
It's important to note that if he never returns to Kelvere, that power vacuum is going to fill regardless of our actions, and we don't want it to be filled by either Kan Abar OR Archon, really.

We only need to go with subterfuge to begin with. The "Duke" can die of natural causes some short time down the line and leave Kelvere in the hands of a successor just fine.

Aside from whatever the results of the Duke's addiction to multi-level plots, nothing about Kelvere is terribly hostile to our cause. It should be relatively simple to integrate everyone into society at large.

It's also basically right next to everywhere we need to go, which is nice.

Felnoir is fine, but there's literally a place with all of the infrastructure set up for us already. We'd be silly not to use it.
>>
>>25405794
>Felnoir is relatively out of the way, and its people aren't friends of the empire.
with the loss of the last teleporting airship, the power projection of the angles just got drasticaly set back. it is a good compromise of safety and ease of living. i dont think it is easy for humans to live out here.
>>
>>25405915
Naaah SM wouldn't kubo us like that.

...Right?
>>
>>25405794
Out of the options, Felnoir is probably the best.
We may be able to build our own city in the Great Forest, alongside them, and still be largely hidden while having access to a lot of resources.

Though we will have to return to Evinsbrook at some point, to commandeer the Duke's dynamo experiments.

And we are also going to have to go to archon at some point.
Partly to see Abby again, and partly to recover the shards of the sword we left in the care of Yi Fang.

Whatever we choose, we are going to be here for some time while we figure out how to transport everyone, so setting up a simple base of operations isn't a bad idea.
>>
Guys, I don't know if anyone else has put two and two together and realized that Flint's brother has a ridiculously high chance to have been who cast the shel'kath.
So we need to go to Arland.
>>
------------
------------

<What of Isle Imil?> you ask. You glance at the map above the bridge of the ship. <From what I can see, it is isolated...and perhaps less barren than our current location.>

Auriel shrugs. "I would equate it to Sir Flint's opinion upon Felnoir. Out of the way, but relatively weak. However, Imil Landing is the only real civilization there - the rest of the island is untamed. It receives heavy rainfall, and a wild clan lives in the jungles. Fire worshipers, cannibals. Not the type to take kindly to strangers."

------------
------------
>>
>>25405794
<Felnoir.

I have no wish to have us become cogs in a machine as we would under Yi Fang or The Black Lady. I bought the Ring City to it's knees because I was tired of simply moving in tune with the drums of those who thought themselves greater, and we are now free to forge our own path. Cast away your prejudice and be done with your grudges, for they will not serve you here.>
>>
We should give Ila the S, call it anointed in Shadow or something cool like that. The telepathy and her increased respect among the Shadow mages would be very handy.

it would work the smothest if we were the mediator between them, with the shadow & spirit mages under us, and the light ones, under Auriel

I think Fefnoir would be the best of the proposed options. Its nearby Tarun Gakth (which I prefer honestly) where we can retreat to if we are attacked. It would also mean we can build the nation we've been thinking about ever since the Duke told us of his dreams of empire.

>>25406007
I'd prefer to use the XP for something other then Servant right now. (poison)
>>
>>25405975
In addition to the higher stats in everything and possible immortality.

>>25405794

>>25405897

felnoir seems like a great object up front, but lets keep in mind the ring city's pre-established prejudice. They're just gonna invade whatever settlement we make as soon as it gets roots down, just because they're angels and we did fuck them royally.

We need to do what shadows do best, which is blend and subvert. Kelvere is the best subverty option, and the prospect of dynamo research is too good to pass up.
>>
>>25405954
Felnoir sound best to me too, its a decent enough location to setup our own encampment for the rebellion and is a lot more conducive of living
>>
>>25406071
Sog off with the poison pushing already. Not to mention that it costs 2 blippity. Anything substantial we eat will probably put us over 17 from where we are now.
>>
>>25405941
Yeah, this is why I suggest Kelvere, there is going to be a vaccum to be filled! If there is no sucessor to the Duke they might suffer from civil war or foreign invasions. They will probably be happy to have someone restore order that is not Yi Fang or Kan Abar. It is also more shielded than Arland and nearer the more interesting places.
>>
>>25405794
>We should build here. It might be tough at first, but we can eke out a living in safety.
>>
>>25406086
We gave them a pretty large wound to lick when we left. They'll be spending a few months recovering and trying to quash the rebellion they no doubt have going on right now.
>>
>>25406071
Servant would be very useful seeing as how it buffs up our allies and our allies are what save our ass when things go tits up.

And having people that can actually fight alongside us instead of just getting in the way would be very very good.
>>
>>25406101
Duke seems like the kind of guy who would have a plan ready to go in the event of his death.

Assuming he's even dead. Honestly, I think it's just a bad idea. Far too many opportunities for things to backfire, what with the angels sticking around for the Valerion repairs.
>>
-----------------
-----------------

"Do you know much about the Great Forest?" you ask Auriel.

"Certainly," she says. "Maven Lake is the capital of Felnoir. Most of the country's population resides in the plains around the river and on the southern edge of the forest. The logging supplies the empire with nearly all its wood. However, it has a fierce independent streak; it relies on the empire for trade, but generally ignores imperial law in favor of local statues. Its people are proud and hardy." She gives you a look. "It tends to be a haven for those looking for a place to hide, actually, because the empire's influence fades substantially. The forest itself is very dangerous beyond the outskirts. The Felnians are hardened all the more for defending their lands from the creatures within. Vampires, orcs, werewolves, rogue mages evading the law...you name it, it's in there."

-----------------
-----------------
>>
>>25406086
If we make a settlement in The Great Forest, it will stay hidden.
We can move to influence Kelvere from there if need be, and we will be withing easy travel distance of everywhere.
>>
>>25406121

Too much of an assumption. Everything that happened could easily be spun as "evily shadows doing evily things," which is quite a bit more likely as we know the angels do enjoy their spot of afternoon propaganda.

We need to cement our power-base within the mages, they might thankful and submissive towards us, but that is not going to last, and we need to cement the idea that staying with us is the best idea. We cant have half of them end up deserters.
>>
>>25406131
it buffs up a single ally. Just one. And we have a great number of potential people to servant. Abigail, Ila, Adavan. And since we haven't bought the additional powers to it Servant isn't even at full power yet.
>>
>>25406101
And if we fuck up, we'd be screwed. Too many issues if we are asked to do a lightning spell and we cannot do it because the only spells we have are shadow, spirit, and water.
>>

This is the plan I prefer, mostly because I feel like leaving Kelvere to its own devices in the wake of the Duke's death is a waste of a huge opportunity, but it's hard to get this plan across with the voting options given.
>>
>>25405794

We shouldn't put all our hopes into one option, we could Kelvere and Arland are the more promising. We don't even need to take command of Kelvere. We could negotiate an alliance with the duke's double or his replacement. With the war going on its unlikely they will be willing to turn down allies in our quantity and quality. Kelvere is allied with Ring City. They have a host of angels overseeing the Valerion repairs at Evinbrook right now.
>>

We should also keep in mind Fang is our only real option to fix Flint, unless the Spirit mages we have could do it
>>
>>25406382
Or unless we could attempt our antimagic on it once. Or go back to find the other end of the parasite in Arland, etc.
>>
>>25406382
Don't forget the thing under Jacob's Field. The sage mentioned going that route.
>>
>>25406327
Yes, but we need to inspire the unbelievers, by anointing Ila we might sway the people who are more lukewarm towards us, it is not very likely that we are going to live up to the expectations of the shadow mages. During that first encounter Sewer-bro was more likely to believe what he wants to believe, after hanging out with us for a while he might see us as sub servant to the angels and leading us towards doom.
>>
>>25406413
No, all the routes the sage suggested had the stipulation that Flint had to return home to seek the cure.
>>
>>25406376
damnit while I want to go to a new territory I can't believe you guys are throwing a great opportunity like this away. I just hope we will be ably to collect the other keys and free Hecate or the spirit elemental or whatever it is

>>25406366
I like to keep track of everyone that was named in that event as they are no doubt very important people. One of my goals is to gather them all up in this alliance. Yes, that means even Fang.
>>
>>25406413
Xella said it was -similar- to a succubus, so perhaps someone with summoning experience would be great.
>>25406382
That's a good idea, we could ask the spirit mages we have if they know anything. I'm hesitant about asking Yi Fang for help though, he seems like the kind of lich to extort any usefulness out of us for that kind of service.
>>
>>25406327
Once you have been given a reward, you are less likely to work towards it. Dangling something like that in the face of the other guys will probably inspire a few minds.
>>
>>25406424

we are literally the sole reason they have freedom. like the one thing that did it. I don't think we need to worry TOO much about desertion or anything like that. We've shown we respect them as human beings, and that's really all they ever wanted I think
>>
>>25406424
That won't change simply by making someone a servant. They might see it as bribery or worst another way to bind them in slavery. The best way to do that is to help forge a nation free of control of the other powers.... which IS what we are doing.
>>
>>25406456
i think one of the plans is for the mages to set up a town in the forest, while we solo take of kelever later
>>
>>25406463
Though isn't it curious? When we mentioned it to Fang he said "Again..." Like he has done this before and I don't think he had a pleasant memory of it.
>>
>>25406382
Probably not.

Most people can't even see the parasite.

Only other demons, Yi Fang, and ourselves have been able to see it, and Yi is the only one to damage it.

Though it does confirm that spirit magic is a path to killing it, but I doubt our spirit magic goes that far.

I'm going to guess that the other solution to the parasite problem is finding whoever is on the other end of it's power conduit.
It's probably flints brother, or someone treacherous in the court, but who knows.
>>
>>25406456
We're not throwing that opportunity away, we can still travel to Kelvere and go on our gathering quest, this was to decide where the mages and heretic angels are staying, not where we will be forced to stay.
>>
>>25406379

Looks like the woods won anyway, still we should try to make allies where we can get them. We didn't everyone so they could have to spent the rest of their lives hiding or do we wish to rule over them like a lord. We should try to make a society that focuses seeks the coexistence and cooperation of mages of different elements and also severs as a means of mutual protection. We could not command or rule it but we could serve as its core.
>>
>>25406456
speaking of the keys we need to go Archon to get our inventory back from Yi Fang as well as get the Staff of Winds, i just hope he hasn't destroyed those sword shards
>>
>>25406497
Remember this little nugget?

>Flint licks his lips, then nods to himself. "...how can I be rid of the parasite on my soul?"

"There are many ways," Taremtis says. "None preserve all those for whom you care. Seek the lich with the young girl. Or, seek the aid of the Black Lady. Or, find and use the four keys. In any case, you must return home to end your curse."
>>
We do need to ransack the Duke's castle for the key, and any other magical goodies we can find. We can do that and stir up his people against the Angel's by whispering about treachery we suffered there. Maybe Replicate a wound or two while in his form.
>>
Plans for exp expenditure:

I think we should use our exp. to make a shadow mana pool in our airship's engine room. Until the dynamo can be replaced, Shadow can sit in and use the mana pool as an infinite power source for the ship.

Now even if the ship wouldn't be able to take the strain of combat, this would allow us to easily charge the teleporter so that the ship could be relocated.

After the mana pool is in place, I think we should use Servant on Auriel. She's proven loyal enough, and if she's going to captain the ship she should have a little power to fight with. Also considering she uses SPIRIT magic, she might be a better fit for it then you may all think.
>>
>>25406555

<...we must establish independence,> you say. You look at the mages. <We cannot rely on any group, or individual, without becoming beholden to them - and I would not pressure my friend, Sir Flint, into granting us safe haven. We shall forge our own place, and in so doing, we shall declare our right to exist freely, as we would.>

Hamil nods fiercely. "I couldn't agree more, Lord Shadow."

<I am no lord.>

"...what, then?" Ila asks quietly. "Where do we go?"

<Felnoir,> you say. <It is distance from the power of the empire; between it and them lies Archon. If we ever revealed ourselves, we might find not few allies. Furthermore, it has resources, fresh water, and food.> You smile sheepishly. It might be the first time you've felt sheepish. <I admit that food was not my first concern when picking our destination. For me...it is never a concern.>

You glance at Flint. <Perhaps, in time, Sir Flint, you may change your mind. But in any case, we will construct a safe haven. A home. A fallback point, in case we need to retreat.> You look at Auriel. <I feel this is the best strategy...especially while...> you indicate Flint.

Auriel slowly nods. "...I must agree. We will join you, if you would have us." She raises her head. "In the meantime, myself and Tyrael can establish contact with quite a number of people. I have my own network, on the side of things."

<How can we get there?> you ask the group.

"I've been consulting on the matter already," Hamil says. "Didn't think we'd be staying here long. Myself and the rest of the Spirit mages could whip up a mass teleportation...given a week or so. Should do the trick, once we have an exact destination. If you give us two weeks, we could take the ship, as well.

You nod. <That's perfect. Now...> You look up at the map.

North of the forest. We can maintain a relationship with the orcs at refuge from there.

Northern forest, close to Tarun Gakth but in the forest still.

So our tentative plans should be this:

A quick hop to Kelvar. Imitate the Duke to get access to his treasures and help spread dissent against the Angels.

Then to Arland to get the Fire key. We can see who has the opposite end of the Shel'kath there.

Finally to Archon and getting the final key and visiting Abigail. Perhaps Servant her so she has an ace up her sleeve.

this puts us near tarun gakth, so there is a possibility of city 001, but otherwise we are lacking access to fresh water and other allies

while the dificulty of finding us would ratchet up, there is to much likelyhood of running into something we dont want to meet. and former concers about water
>deep in the forest, but near the lake
food an water plenty, quick travel to the settlment in the future for normals, ease of acces to another city of known location, and having the lake itself protect one side from the forest. seems to be the best position

We don't want to randomly undermine Kelvere's standing with the Ring City, even for as dickish as the angels are. There's a lot of people living there who benefit from the Angels' assistance in fending off demon summoners and the like, and trying to dissolve that alliance now, especially with the recent destabilization of the power structure there, seems irresponsible.

We should got to Kelvere FIRST before anything. Vellik did not have his key on him when he was killed, which means that might not have been there real Vellik. Or it was, but the key is still in Kelvere somewhere,

Hamil nods. "I'll let the other mages know."

"In the meantime, we need a source of water," Auriel says. "Food."

"We can use magic to fish," Tyrael suggests. "I picked up a few tricks from the Atlantians."

"You ate things out of that swamp?" Auriel asks.

"Well, no," Tyrael says, "but it was for fun, at the time."

"What's in the swamp there?"

"Oh, nothing," Auriel says. "Just putrid fish and vile lizards that make your skin crawl just to look at them."

"...you're afraid of lizards?" Flint asks.

"That is not what I said."

Flint chuckles slightly. "It's ok. You can just admit it."

Auriel huffs and folds her arms. "...in any case. Why don't you do that, Tyrael. Lead the other angels. We'll work on the water problem."

"Understood."

THOSE FEELS

You catch Hamil as the others leave the room.

<Hamil.>

"Lord - "

<Stop right there.> Still in your human from, you raise your hand. <No titles, Hamil. I am no lord. I do not wish to govern. Perhaps guide, advise...but your freedom is not mine. It is yours.>

Hamil's face clenches hard. You get the feeling he is working to hold back his emotion. ...you're getting better at reading people.

"...as you say...Shadow." He gives you a slight, respectful bow.

<Tell me about yourself. How did you come to the ring city?>

"...my father...was a Spirit mage. He kept his powers hidden. Taught me some few things, when I was young. He often considered running to Archon...but his powers were spontaneous. He himself had no guide, and he did not wish to live under the lich." Hamil looks down. "I grew foolish. I didn't have his discipline. I used my powers to...well...I stopped some bullying, actually. In public." He looks back to you. "That was 12 years ago, when I was 13. They came quickly after that. My family was hung - my father, mother, and older brother. I was separated from my soul." He clenches a fist. "I will never forgive them, Shadow. Please don't ask me to."

<I cannot ask that,> you say. <Only that you place your passions to the side. Ultimately, Auriel, Tyrael, and the others have fought and bled to free you. That demands your respect - if not your forgiveness.>

Hamil gives you a nod. "I understand."

<I am sorry for what happened to you,> you say.

He shrugs. "It is what it is. My story is not the saddest...and it is merely one, among many. We all have our tales, Shadow. We share that pain." His expression firms. "But it makes us stronger. It brings us together."

<I see. Together, then, we will build this new home.>

>con't
>>
>>25407635
Just use compress or ink for that.
>>
>>25407650

"Do you really trust them, though? The angels?"

<I do. I traveled long with Auriel. She was most stubborn in her defense of her beliefs...in her mistrust of me. She would not have done this, gone so far, unless she was absolutely certain. If I cannot trust her, now, I can't trust anyone.>

"As you say. I should speak with the other mages."

<Do so.>

You part ways, and you walk off to find Ila and Cain...

Is there anything in particular you'd like me to put in the dialogue with either of them?

No.

Once this conversation is over, and basic provisions have been handled, I think we should fly to Kelvere in compression mode (if we can do that?) just to see what the power dynamic is and to retrieve the lightning key.

We NEED to know whether the Duke or a double is in control, and more, whether the country is mobilizing for war.

Also, think about what would happen if we start hijacking airships from enemy countries? It would be a huge power swing. Do we know of any other airships with a shadow core? We have a much better chance of stealing one of our own kind.

I'd still recommend that we ask them if they can teach us the finger wiggle language, though. They'll assume it's because we want to be able to understand what they're saying, and we don't have to bring up that we could understand them all along until later.

>"Ok, so that's the whole fingerwiggle language. Now you can understand what we're all talking about!"
><Oh, I could already do that subconsciously. I just thought the language was interesting, and didn't know how to make the wiggles right on account of not naturally having fingers.>
And then we get to wiggle our shadow fingers at them while they're all slackjawed at the fact that they thought they were being sneaky this entire time.

I have to agree with the anon here.

We were hasty in our presumptions of a plan earlier in the thread.

As a rebellious force in the lands trying to shake things up for the better, we cannot afford to NOT act when it would make our enemies stronger.

However, we need to information to act effectively.

We need to do ~Something~ with Kelvere. Its an opportunity we can't just let sit idly by.

Recon first.
If they have a key we need for the parasite? Well, we're compelled to act anyway. We need to think about everything we're going to do while we're there.

Assessing a short-term duke doubling that turns into a guided raid for critical resources is my current vote.

Yeah but as cold as it sounds, Joey is expendable while Obis is not. If it were Joey who was royalty who could bring stability to a country on the warpath then things might be different.

However, we are at war now and our time must be prioritized. We can't afford to expend too much time or resource on one (terribly useless) squire.
>>
>>25408277

Well, we have Sir Flint and Auriel, who were the largest two figures. Obis is off on a side mission and will be nearly impossible to locate with his stealth belt on anyways.

Adavan and Abigail would be nice to retrieve, but walking willingly in Yi Fang's lair is akin to waltzing into the tiger exhibit with steaks tied to our legs.

You find Ila in the bowels of the ship, eating quietly with several other shadow mages, including Cain.

"Shadow," Ila says.

The other mages look up, Cain included.

<Ila.> You turn to Cain. <I believe I still owe you thanks - and not just for earlier.>

"What do you mean?"

<It occurs to me that, when I freed you, the response was quick and immediate. And coordinated.>

Cain smiles. "...I may have told the others of your presence...but Ila coordinated our defense."

<You saved many lives, Ila.>

"...not enough," she says. "...some were out on missions. Some don't know of you. They are hunted down as we speak. For them...it's too late."

<You cannot take on the burden of every life,> you say. <That we saved any at all is an accomplishment in itself.>

She looks up at you. "...you freed our very souls. You defeated Sandalphon. You held off Lucifer to protect me and mine. I know not how to repay you."

<Just live as you would, freely. That is repayment enough.>

She shakes her head and smiles. "...I will find a way to balance the scales."

<I noticed you moving your fingers, earlier,> you say. <It was...patterned. Like speech.> You raise your hand and slowly move each finger of your humanoid form. <Is this a common method of speaking?>

Ila shakes her head. "...we were not allowed to speak to each other, except on official business, or when we thought it was absolutely necessary. Over three hundred years...this was developed." She twitches her fingers. ~Hand talk.~ she gestures. "Hand talk," she says. "To speak without speaking."

<Clever. You've planned right beneath their noses.>

"We never felt we'd be able to free ourselves," she says. "Only to survive with a little less pain. From the bottom of my soul, I thank you. Thank you."

You pat her shoulder. <I may have need of strong allies. I believe...that I may be able to share my powers, if this is of interest to you.>

Ila draws back in surprise. "...I...of course. Anything. I would be honored."

There's a catch to servanting people, guys. Why do you think the Black Hand clamored for attention with Erebus? They were paying tribute to an inattentive god. For the last time, opposing elements cancel when trying to servant someone.

That's why we can't give power to Auriel or Flint, they would either lose their magic as it was overwritten by shadow, or the shadow would fail to overwrite their element and be wasted.

Erebus was also an inattentive dick. They will have less need to get attention if we're already very directly involved and let them know that slaughtering people is bad, yo.

What went wrong with the Angels? Hyperion started blessing the most powerful, the most clever, the best warriors, and look what they did with the power...

We need to Servant people like Joey - men and women with an extremely strong sense of ethics and loyal, a developed sense of justice and wisdom.

We basically need to create an order of Shadow Jedi.

You nod. <I will keep that in mind.> You look at them. <If you have a sort of society...is there structure? Do you have leaders?>

All the mages look at Ila.

"...I am just the...I'm not a leader," she mumbles.

"When trouble strikes," Cain says to you, "we always look to Ila."

The other mages murmur in quick agreement.

<I see.> You look at her. <I will tell you what I told Hamil. I know that many of you can never, will never forgive the angels for what they have done. I do not expect you to. But they have set aside their prejudice to give you a chance - set aside their lives, their positions, and made themselves enemies of the empire. That demands respect. I trust Auriel...and until she proves otherwise, she will continue to have it.> You look at all of them in turn. <Tell the other mages this: I ask you to treat them fairly, and with dignity. The place we make is one in which we can live freely. To build such a place and then deny others that freedom of choice would be a terrible hypocrisy. And there is little I hate more than hypocrisy.>

You look to Ila. <The mages will need a representative. A leader. Someone to whom I can speak, and who can represent our interests as a whole. The world is too small to be forever isolated, and to retreat into a shadowy corner and never speak again for fear of reprisal is as good being enslaved. I will not ask this of you...but I judge you worthy, for such a thing, should you chose it yourself.>

You give them a nod in farewell, and turn to leave. <I would like to learn to speak your language. Another time, though.>

"Shadow, I meant to ask," Ila says. You look back. "...what is your relationship with Sir Flint? Is he as he seems?"

No. Can we go to Flint and Auriel and talk about a quick scouting mission to Kelvere?

Auriel might not be comfortable with us assumin g the Duke's form long-term, but we desperately need information about the world and Kelvere's place in it right now.

Hopefully our little camp of rebels can work together for a couple of days while we scout.

Also this is going to seem wildly optimistic, but let's try to shoot for one Key a thread starting now - once the Spirit Elemental is freed, Flint's parasite comes off.

There may be a more pressing reason for rushing to get the key.

Yi Fang has our stuff from before we were captured, including a key. He also knows where Abigail grew up, and it is possible Abigail may mention the Nice Lady to him.

He may very well put the puzzle pieces together and realize Hecate is buried there, and may try to be the one to free her first.

And if Hecate were to reward him with power of being her Servant, then an already formidable foe becomes even more difficult to handle...
>>
>>25408766
We should tell him that the shadow mages seem to appreciate his help, and that they truly are thnkful to him. Also, we should thank him as well, for his influence on ourself since we came into the world. Particularly regarding Justice.
>>
>>25408907
No he didn't.

All we know about his servants is that there were so few of them people only know that some had antimagic.

And he hardly interacted with anyone until the very end of the war when he was all alone versus the higher elementals.
>>
>>25408908

>>
>>25408908

Well, the point stands - we need to get to Kelvere to get the key. Having even one would prevent Yi Fang from freeing Hecate, although I'm not altogether uncertain this would be a TERRIBLE thing.

After all, a freed Hecate will almost certainly be on our side, and there's no way that Yi Fang could give Hecate orders, if she's at full power.

You find Auriel outside, supervising the construction of...something? It seems that several of the angels are levitating large pieces of glass sectioned off the bridge viewport and assembling them on the stone plateau. Several of them stare at your passing, but they don't say anything. Tyrael is actively commanding the angels to and fro, probably under her direction.

<What's going on?>

"Fresh water, that's what. Someone has to get this shitshow off the ground." She looks at you. "What is it?"

<Flint was bothered, earlier. You place much on his shoulders.>

She looks worried. "...we spoke, after the meeting. He wasn't happy about that."

<What did he say?>

"...he said...I never asked him if he wanted to go him. If he even cared to..." She swallows hard. "He has bad memories...bad feelings about home. I...perhaps I assumed too much. I had known he left suddenly...I assumed it was some political embarrassment."

<Why don't you ask him about it, instead of guessing?>

"It isn't my place. He'll tell me when he tells me."

You sigh. Humans seem to have a prominent communication problem. Sometimes, you feel as though you understand why Erebus simply didn't bother.

<...what -are- they making?>

"It's ready. Watch."

>con't
>>
>>25408978
Actually, we can wait on the gear that Yi Fang has. Look at it this way, it is safe in the hands of a powerful lich that even the angels are nervous about. And as long as he has it, we know where to look for it.

On the other hand, the whereabouts the key Vellik had are unknown, and his possession of a key may be known to other powerful figures.

Yi Fang may already know to go look in Kelvere for the key. We have more to gain by going to Kelevere to search for the key, while we can also raid that treasury and dynamo research.
>>
>>25408907
That's sort of the point I was trying to get at, but not to such an extreme. Anyway, the duke did mention how the members of the Dawnflight stabbed each other's backs to become worthy of the angelic blessing, resulting in many ambitious, morally ambiguous people receiving the blessing. We don't want that, either. Remember that people who receive the blessing are likely to be immortal, and become huge dicks.

We don't know that for certain. Who's to say that Erebus did not lack humanity, and therefore was not always the best judge of character? Who's to say that those ha made Servant did not become rapists or murderers?

Things are not always so clear cut.
>>
>>25409090
Let's also not forget the Legion called himself Erebus' "Arbiter of Judgement" and we all know how much of a dick Legion is.
>>
>>25409057

The angels lower entire glass contraption they've fused together down close to the water, most of them settling on a large rocky shelf. Another few angels lower a giant steel container.

Several of them gather together and focus their mana. The sigil of a combined spell appears in front of them, a rotating disc that reminds you of the sun call. A beam of light shoots from the disc and into the glass. You watch as the glass appears to -bend- the light. You're not sure if it's the glass, or the magic...or both.

Either way, the intense rays are focused onto the water. A hissing steam quickly rises. This passes around the same glass the light was focuses through, and water rapidly begins to condense and run down into the container.

<...that's rather ingenious.>

"Isn't it?" Auriel says. Maybe you shouldn't have complimented her - you can practically see her head swelling. "My own invention. Came in handy back in the war. You think Water mages are good for purification - until they pollute everything intentionally. It's warm, but it's pure." She looks up into the sky, eyeing some dark clouds on the horizon. "And we'll collect plenty of rain, too. I've got men setting up gutters along the ship. We can distill that to make sure it's clean, and then we're good to go."

<I see. Good.> You turn to her. <I spoke with the leaders of the shadow mages, as well as Hamil. I can't ask them to forgive quickly...but I believe they will work with you, for now. I hope the respect will be mutual.>

"I try to make sure things are calm on my end, as well," Auriel says. "Tyrael's a bit hotheaded, sometimes."

<I noticed. Well, until later.>

You drift up the cliff to locate Flint...
>>
>>25409090
I guess. Still though, I think that simply presenting ourselves as we have been would deter the rapemurder = reward mentality.

They might be shadowmages, but that doesn't make them wild animals.

I gotta say that it feels surreal to have to say that in this quest of all places.
>>
>>25409057

"...Legion." She plants her hands on her hips and looks into the distance. "Erebus's Arbiter."

<...his...arbiter?>

"Erebus gave power to only one human," she says. "Why him, or who he really is, or was...or whatever...no one knows. But he called himself Erebus's arbiter, and was the leader of the Black Hand. He was destroyed in the battle before the mutual annihilation event. At least...I thought he was."

<...you were there.>

"...it was a long time ago," Auriel says quietly. "But Legion's power was at least double that even of Sandalphon."

<Did Erebus sanction him, or his actions?>

"Erebus treated him the way he treated everyone else," Auriel says. "Like trees. Just there. He only paid attention to the Elemental Lords...though...at the end, he finally did get Erebus's attention, I think. I wasn't there for the annihilation. Everyone that was, is dead." She shrugs. <What about a pretty lady?>

<Maybe she's trying to get you to sit up and realize what's already there.>

Flint groans. "She's already gotten to you."

"...why don't you decide after we get rid of the parasite?"

"...yeah." He looks at you. "...I asked the Spirit mages about it. None of them know. Whatever this thing is...it's not casual magic, that's for sure. We need Yi Fang. He has Abigail...it feels like he's always holding all the cards."

<I know.>

"Once we get set up in Felnoir...we'll deal with him," Flint says.

<We don't have much of a choice.> You look into the afternoon sky. <I won't let him have her. At least Adavan is there - hopefully, he's keeping an eye on her.>

"There's one we owe some to, huh?"

Which of our allies are good at what?

Presumably where the city is hidden. They city could be ANYWHERE, even on the ocean floor.

Even on the moon

Interestingly, whoever is on the other end of Flint's parasite will know for SURE that Flint is NOT dead.

This could be an interesting way of ferreting out who is responsible for it.

can we sent Wisp Bro on an epic quest to impress Joey with stuff?

Well, we can go supersonic to transport one person, right and we have a whole bunch of infiltrators and spies loyal to us, so why can't we send a spy to take care of Joey. "Take care' as in really take care not kill the kid.
The spy could also collect information on the happenings in Arland.

The best thing we can do for Joey is to keep away from him right now. Sending a Shadow mage to hover around him will only endanger his life.

He's been around us long enough to know that drawing attention to himself would be a bad plan. As of right now, he's just another mundane .
>>
>>25409888
>Who forgot their virgin sacrifice today?

wait, do we want to roll high or low?
>>
If we could replicate our shadow spells with dwarven devices, we would get a smg, shotgun and sniper rifle. just sayin...
>>
>>25410000
Bitch please, Joey is the singular squire of the only man of the Aeolus Order, a man who slayed a demon lord, a man who died in the defense of The Ring City, a man who was and likely still is loved by his people.

If he isn't swimming in angel pussy by now then I don't know who IS.
>>
Sm can you pls kill off Joey already.
>>
>>25410055

Not Micheal!
>>
You get a few shadow mages together, along with Cain, for the purpose of scouting out your immediate area. You use Deep Focus.

Something grabs your attention...a little flicker of magic. You fly across a few plateaus toward a large reef.

More than one ship is crushed up and rotted away within the Shiprakers...most are at the bottom of the sea, now, but this particular ship was lodged between two rocks. You dive down and search it.

The ship holds war supplies - specifically, armor. You find iron helmets, shields, and weapons...and they're all completely rusted.

But you do come across five pristine sets of adamantium half-plate. You ferry them back to camp, and deposit them in the Noiralev's armory, which holds a large number of steel shields and spears.

-----------------
-----------------

You then decide to scout into the canyons back on the mainland, searching for Steward, or any other constructs you might call allies.

----------------
----------------

And you'll do THAT

In the next thread! Which will be in a few days, at some point. I'll update the twitter when I know.

I'm going right to bed, so if you have a question, ask it quick.
>>
>>25410058
Relaaax dude. What did we learn about questioning SM's plans?
>>

Michael probably did swim in angel pussy. I mean that literally, he probably cut off the pussies of a bunch of angels and filled a pooled with them and swam around in it.

Why did you tell the person that was making magcocks comic to take their time? You know what happens when /tg/ takes its time, don't you?

>>
>>25410100

What would happen if we sacrificed the virgins before they were no longer virgins? Would our dice pools be better? Also are you thinking of any totally non-canon side quest that involve Joey, such as JOEY and the MILF ANGEL, or JOEY and the OVER PROTECTIVE ELF, or even JOEY and the case of DWARVEN ALE. you know as a joke because JOEY would never be that lucky. they could even be stories he tell us after we somehow find and rescue him.

SM, let our characters do awesome things while we are behind the scenes, for once
>>

That'd be a nice. It would.

>Joey gets killed for excessive angel pussy hoarding
>>
>>25410408

JOEY wouldn't die from such a little thing, besides he needs to have more adventures, leaving lovers and friends at each conclusion, only to show up at the finale, proving JOEY's stories hold water, before they are insta gibbed by <insert villain here>.please forgive the run on sentence and comma abuse
>>
>>25410145

I'm willing to bet he based Joey's character off of a friend he doesn't like or something. That's the feeling I get.
>>
>>25410495

Oh come on SM its for joke stories that Joey would tell everyone about how he got this scar here or that trinket there. Everyone would call him out on his bullshit at the end with a maybe cameo of a character walking out of the bar. It'd be totally non-canon and great for the people afraid they are going to be doing some REJOICING any minute due to dice gods.
>>
>>25410495

>I feel ignorant for asking because I am, but where does REJOICING come from?

Fate/Stay night, its a word that the cynical priest uses to antagonize the protagonist.
>>
>>25410598

In the Fate series of anime/VN/Manga there is a priest that finds happiness in suffering, so he come to the conclusion that the only place anybody else can. So he often says REJOICE when bad shit happens. Like when we thought Aruiel was gonna get raped by Micheal.

Kill Joey off-screen, please.

The character is a joke that has run its course, a dead horse that /tg/ can't stop beating.

If he kills him they will just find a new horse to beat, like wifau's.
