will they generate noises that go into resonance and move objects around them?

The best translation of their name, in any human language, is the Chorus. They form very close social bonds, and very many of them- although the Chorus is not a hive-mind or group mind, they are often mistaken for one.

They communicate primarily via a language consisting solely of musical tones; meaning is transmitted through tonal countours, tone duration, and elements of tonal color- square waves, sawtooth waves, and sine waves, as well as other aspects, are often used. The Chorus lack any kind of vocal organ; their entire body is used as a soundboard, by vibrating at precise frequencies. Members of the Chorus can choose to "shout" by adhering themselves to a large solid surface and using the entire object as a speaker.

When very close to each other, almost touching, members of the Chorus can communicate at very high speeds by modulating their magnetic fields, similar to near-field communication in human electronics. This is almost akin to telepathy, and is used as an intimate method of communication between two members of the Chorus- in fact, it is an adaptation of the sharing of information used in Chorus mating practices. Often, two or more spheres that are part of a Chorus "family" or other tightly-knit social unit will choose to link together in this manner, and speak at once, turning their tonal language into a far more nuanced many-voiced choral language, viewpoints blending to produce a multi-valued speech which is most closely related to some of the more avant-garde types of poetry. These groups, when assembled, are the local leaders of Chorus society, the advocates, the abritrators, and the elders, as they have the advantage of the combined knowledge of several spheres and the layered consideration of multiple viewpoints at once is thought to provide a more balanced, reasonable judgement.

Magnificent work! How are we going to deal with them and tool usage?

I'm thinking most likely primitive, as they have to use several spheres working in conjunction to move most objects. That is, until someone who's developed metallurgy comes along, and they can just BUY hands. Er, "gauntlets".
>>
>>25532283
Anti-Minecraft.
>>
>>25533127
Tool usage- I'm not sure. Perhaps there are several different specialized types or clades of Chorus, some of which have appendages? Maybe they live in a world with an entirely-metallic surface, like an Earth which had everything but the core blasted off by a huge impact, and they started with magnetic tools?

Or, since the strength of magnetic fields needed to float on Earth is practically magic anyway, maybe they just use magnetic-flavored telekinesis to move stuff.

I like the idea that they use naturally-occuring iron to build manipulators out of. Maybe they get a whole bunch of Chorus together to try and heat up natural iron- meteorites or bog iron- into tools with eddy currents? And so "hands" were very rare until they discovered metallurgy.

Maybe they're a deep-down type creature, closer to the core of the planet? Eh, that means the players won't come into contact with them, which means they don't exist.

How about they hail from a highly ferrous mountain range? They or may not start using legs or hands to explore outside of this range once they have discovered metal tool use.
>>
>>25533195
I'd say they learned to attach pieces of metal to themselves by magnetic force. Some serve as "clothing" or adornments in general for high-ranking members, but most importantly, it allows them to use tools. Tools originated from the high-iron trees of their home planet, from whose branches the first Chorus utilized as simple tools. Modern Chorus tools are more akin to human tools, although more inclined to be fixated and operated via magnetism.

Because they're alien, right? Possibly originated as cave-dwellers in the world otherwise.

Also, how do they "eat"? What nourishes them?
>>
>>25533306
>what do they eat?
Oh, that's a good question. What ways can we generate energy from magnetism and the like? I want to say something to do with electricity, or heat.
>>
I can see a Chorus making itself akin to an iron golem now. Substituting itself as a heart or similar and moving the ferrous body with it's magnetism.
I know we're trying to move away from humanoids, but I'm just saying is all.

One thing I'm curious about; how large do people see Chorus as? A couple inches across? A foot? Many meters?
>>
>>25533306
I'd say they'd eat a type of quicksilver or other form of liquid metal, and instead of "eating" they absorb the liquid directly into them and store in within their center. This could be how they help resonate, by magnetizing the liquid into a solid and bounce it within their central chamber
>>
>>25533366
Completely possible...

Wait, I have an idea.
The "trees" of their homeworld are mineral, iron-based life forms, who generate rather strong electromagnetic fields when alive. Their branches are magnetic when broken off, and the Chorus stick to them and "drinks" latent magnetic energy to sustain themselves.

They'd get trace minerals they need as >>25533397 said.
>>
>>25533306
Possibly electricity would be consumable for them, or some other form of energy. They might be solar or heat-powered.
Kind of like the idea that they spend some time around volcanic vents and soak in the heat.

Chorus don't really have a concept of "gender" as we understand it- depending on which xenoanthropologist you ask, they've either got only one gender, or at least twelve, which correspond to various arcane and obscure differences in social role, precise gradients of magnetic fields, and other things that are very hard to explain to fleshy bipedal meat aliens. (Their language does, however, have a huge number of linguistic "genders" corresponding to a number of vague and arbitrary classes, but that's a different matter altogether.)

The Chorus are symbiotic with another metallic "creature", which appears to be entirely sedentary and have no but to produce the metal husks which are used in the production of Chorus. To reproduce, one of the tight social groups which make up Chorus society decide that they wish to have a child, which is a significant event- the adding of a new voice to the Song is a momentous one. They spend time gathering the raw materials in the caves and from a massive meteorite which impacted their homeland a long, long time ago-mostly, certain metallic ores. (The Chorus instinctually know how to recognize these; it is thought that they may have originated as the remnants of an alien mining system.) These are taken into their bodies through an orifice and processed into the basic "stuff" of a Chorus's body. Some of these are used to feed the creature to produce a new Chorus husk. When the husk is complete, the group gathers into a ring, magnetizing themselves such that they all actually touch each other. (Touching is fairly taboo in Chorus society, and is only done for this reason.) The magnetic communication- normally merely intimate- becomes absolute. [cont'd]

>>25533437
I like the volcanic-vents idea.

>>25533380
I was thinking about the size of a grapefruit or bowling ball.

(Not super happy with this one. Anyone got a cooler explanation?)
>>
>>25533432
I'm actually going to do this for a fantasy setting, but I see no problem with including an iron-based ecology inside of some hollow mountain somewhere.
>>
>>25533449
Oh yeah, if we're talking some kind of battle form here. Shit's going to get SO wack.
Hell, if I was a Chorus I would just get me a blizzard of shards to whip around me. Maybe some plates for protection up close. Ending up more as a Rez boss at the end of it.
I was being more.. ambassador to the boring ol' elves and whatnot. Space-elves or otherwise. After all, humanoid infrastructure is designed around humanoids, as well as being friendly.

Anyone else being reminded of Klik from Goblins here? Floating ferrous sphere that consumes metal..
>>
>>25533454
The "genetic" code of a Chorus sphere- both details of how the raw material of a sphere should turn itself into an adult, as well as mental aspects- is stored primarily in their own memory. Sharing like this, ancient instincts open up, and this normally-inaccessible area of memory opens up to conscious access. As each member of the ring, in turn, injects the raw material they have cultured in their bodies with parts of their own substance into the husk, their personalities, memories, and genetic aspects combine and re-arrange themselves into the genetic/memetic makeup of the new child. This is "imprinted" onto the raw mercury-like stuff that is growing within the child's body, and the whole mess is complete, leaving the participants to lie back, enjoy something like a cigarette, and maybe wipe silvery goo off of their orifices.

As the "child" develops, nestled in the nourishing warmth of a volcanic vent and fed raw materials, the goop within it will harden and self-assemble into the complete anatomy of an adult Chorus sphere.

The entire process, in human terms, can be best approximated having a lesbian orgy with ten or twelve people while on intense doses of various drugs.
>>
>>25533454
Perhaps Chorus can grow indefinitely, or size merely depends on their personal preference and how much energy/metal they've consumed?
A smaller Chorus has more mobility and speed, but a shorter.. battery life. Larger ones the inverse.

With the former, the Chorus elders end up as building sized, barely able to levitate and maintain themselves. But at the same time thinking deep thoughts and contemplating.. whatever elders contemplate. Younger ones resembling hyperactive ball bearings.
The latter gives some more customizability, although there would probably have to be an imposed upper limit. Beyond which a Chorus can't move. And lower, where they can't store enough energy to operate.
>>
>>25533535
Well, I think we've successfully sexualised them at least.
>>
>>25533306
I'm thinking that they get energy by hanging around volcanic vents, like that one anon said. That sounds good.

They also need to have some way to repair themselves and obtain minerals. I'm thinking that the basic anatomy of the Chorus sphere includes at least one hidden orifice, probably hidden under a retractable segment of hard metal carapace that looks exactly the same as the rest. (It feels different magnetically, though. The Chorus can tell.) This leads to an internal chamber which serves as stomach, storage pocket, and "womb". Metal ores, usually harvested from caves or the massive meteorite whose fragments litter their ancestral home, are stored here, and processed into new parts of their body or to replace old bits. Chorus are hard to damage, but they're designed like a machine, not meat, and they're much slower to heal.

This also means that the Chorus have a primitive "hand" which involves clutching things in their "mouth." (Which is also, technically, their genitalia, their anus, and their bellybutton. Chorus are a very minimalist-designed species.)

>>25533546
I was thinking that "elder" would really just refer to the age, respect and size of one of the big Chorus social groups. Not as in personal size, but how many members and how well they work together.

Did Apple design these things or something?
Not sure about the absorption.
The idea forming in my brain goes that they open up like some sort of metallic flower to take in metals. The inside being a metallic liquid underneath several layers of harder metal plates.
It would make eating a very private activity for Chorus. And while settling down by a heat source is fairly social for them, actually eating solids is something that isn't done in public. Originally due to it equating to removing all your armor and making yourself vulnerable, but now more a cultural thing.

Huh, there's a thought. What predates on Chorus? They're a resource, and nature does like to exploit them.

Warforged would be a little offput by them I'll bet.

Actually, many settings could be broken by a Chorus adventurer with magnetic powers as standard. Though once you've removed ferrous armor and weapons, I can see this working. It's been done before, I think.
The internal 'core' Chorus being able to scout independently like a familiar, leaving it's body behind could be neat. Maybe taking a new one elsewhere. Nobody likes finding the armory has come to life.

However, making them feel as something different to play as than a standard humanoid would be difficult at best.. not sure they really should be playable. Hard to see how they could be done justice, especially considering these Rez battlespheres people have come up with.

>>
>>25533033

So, picking up from this and from the problem of metabolism:

So, the Chorus use evanescent fields for close range communication, right? Which means they can actively manipulate their capacitive and inductive properties at their surface.
This should, honestly, be all the technology they need for a very long time.

Surface plasmon polaritons are incredibly efficiently pumped by visible light and depending on material this remains true well ito the X-Ray regime, which means that a creature capable of the implied near-field communications suggested should also be able to interconvert whatever their metabolic storage medium is (I favour resonant modes in superconducting LCR circuits, with a capacitative load being their equivalent of ATP) with EM radiation between the IR and hard X-Ray range. Really, at this point, do they need tool manipulation? A group of them working in tandem can generate pulsed UV lasers from ambient sunlight, and use it to etch material on a nanometer scale. They can pretty much generate arbitrarily large electric and magnetic fields, too.

On the suggestion that the near-field communication is derived from sexual information transmission this is terrifying once the species achieves sentience, since it becomes possible to impart knowledge at the time of conception, which completely removes the need for a vulnerable adolescence period for the offspring to learn cultural information. Potentially, it even means that their Einstein, their Gautama Buddha, and their Da Vinci could pass on their entire corpus of thought every time they came into contact with another Chorister, and the knowledge could propagate out from there...

I need to go to sleep though, so maybe tomorrow I'll see where things have gone
>>
>>25534459
i would like to take a date there, though. you know she'll love hearing them sing to each other
>>
For non-magnetic manipulations, the Chorus contain a semi-solid magnetic substance in deposits under their shell, which they emit when using it.

The Chorus can solidify or liquify this substance using their magnet thing, allowing them to pour it around an object, solidify it, and then carry it about.

This substance is also quite shiny, and is quite valuable to the other races of the world. The Chorus don't grow their substance back.

>>25534395

>>
>>25534476
Hell, it might be a good idea to go there beforehand with some scraps from the forge. The already refined metal should be way better than leeching from iron ore.
And then you can ask them to maybe not bother you and your date, maybe do some tunes?

One thing that's been in my head that I now realize I never mentioned; the Chorus can of course live underwater. It's of no difference to them other than being a little bit harder to move in. So you can get Chorus that live totally underwater, or never 'seeing' the sun in the depths of the ocean, surviving off of underwater volcanic vents. Underdark, Feywild, an asteroid belt, whatever.
They don't give a fuck about where they are, so long as there's heat and iron. And other Chorus, of course.

Battlespheres sound easier. Battlesuits do in retrospect seem a more diplomatic thing, to try and not weird out the locals.
Which only weirds them out more, of course. Much to the Chorus' confusion.
>>
>>25534935
sad thing is metal shavings that small would be the easiest to get, I mean have you ever dropped a high powered magnet? there so much metal in sand and shit its like they come with a nuke standard!

When you think about it, why do they need humanoid battlesuits? It's not like they need legs, or a face, or a torso. Why bother lugging around a suit with all of them, for anything besides diplomacy?

Come to think of it, how do they see? They lack eyes. Maybe they just have touch, magnet- sense ( Which would be blinded by surrounding yourself with a big magnetic suit or cliff of metal blades), and echolocation?

If there are limits to the fidelity and strength of their fields, which there are, we could use multiple chorus to pilot larger constructs. Which means the players could play a team of chorus exploring the known world of humanoids, and when things get rough they have to form the megazord.

they see by the curvature in the magnetic fields surrounding all things. this is easier since their ecosystem is basically metallic they are able to discern the world around them through the differing magnetic wavelengths.

Wouldn't building machines out of a cloud of shavings be like trying to juggle a million balls at once? They might not have that kind of control.

So how can I get a group of small ones as a desk toy?
>>
>>25535147
"Executive toy" or "Desk ornament" is actually an insult to Chorus. Though sometimes used endearingly by those who maintain a friendship with a Chorus.

Though if you DO make friends with a Chorus, get it down quickly you can not tell it apart from a crowd. Just to avoid any misunderstandings.
>>
>>25535207
>Though if you DO make friends with a Chorus, get it down quickly you can not tell it apart from a crowd. Just to avoid any misunderstandings
Considering their social structure, isn't it more likely to make friends with the crowd as one unit anyways?
>>
You know the body mod people that inject tiny, encapsulated magnets into their hands so they can feel electromagnetic radiation?
I bet something like that would come in really handy when dealing with the Chorus.
>>

And you still can't tell one group of Chorus from another.

Idea; singular Chorus is a Note. A 'family' unit is a Chord. Chorus in general are just Chorus.

I've heard about that. I get the feeling it would be useful for electical engineers - instead of having to bash apart a wall to find an electrical mainline they can just feel for it.

Besides, how cool would that look to your clients. You walk in, start tracing your hands over the wall before pointing at one specific spot and going "here," and taking out one bit of the wall to expose the electrical lines.
>>
>>25535401
you could probably crack 'em. Just because they're metal doesn't mean they're not the brittle kind of metal.

Heck, even deforming them if they are the malleable kind would probably fuck them right up.

I can see these guys doing super good in a sci-fi setting. Say a number if Chorus can be hired by an enterprising ship's captain. They would be excellent at maintaining, repairing, and upgrading the ship, and would probably be good at working with the ship's AI/Computer. The Chorus on board are the ultimate handymen, they get to heat up in the engine compartment whenever, and in return for their services credits/currency is paid to the Chorus high council or what-have-you on their home planet, to be used for the procurement of metals and minerals. A clever mining ship captain might hire some more independent chorus in the same way, paying them directly.
>>
>>25535775
Well, I imagine they could dodge or swat a rock out of the way with something else they'd magnetkinetic'd most of the time..

Heh, I can see bow-users getting pissed their ammunition no longer works on Chorus without removing the steel head on their arrows.
I guess bullets would be harder for a Chorus to deflect by much.. so they'd rely on tougher shielding once they start being used. But that's just me.

They're not too bad mechanically for fantasy. They throw a lot of the rules out of the window, which could be useful for a DM to throw on cakewalking players. That dorf in plate is suddenly has the weakest defence and leather armor is the best the party has. Not to even start on fucking over weaponry.

As for lore-wise, they make interesting largely benign spirits. Perhaps getting rustled with nearby mining, or being helpful for a nearby blacksmith.
A Chorus sculptor might bend iron in a way impossible without telekinesis and let it cool. Making a bizzare abstract shape reminiscent of magnetic fields.
Which may also act as a 'tuning fork' to the Chorus themselves, making it a light-and-sound show for them.

Is OP still around?

There's nothing to say they can't excersize fine enough control over their personal magnetism, at least enough to not murder conventional computers.

If you're trying to 'catch' the shards on your shield.. it occurs to me you better be prepared to have a backup shield. Once there's enough metal embedded into the wood the Chorus can probably shake it around with ease.
Once it's absorbed a fair amount of shards it's time to throw it out of range and pull out a spare.
>>
>>25536565
Or make it out of a material that deadens magnetic fields. Means the shards caught in it can't be used against you and bashing them with it would be horribly disorienting.

In sci-fi, plastic armor might win out against Chorus. Or rubber.

>>
>>25536858
I thought these specific ones ate heat? Volcano vents and such.
>>
>>25536801
Actually fire probably wouldn't do much different than normal.
Heat does 'feed' the Chorus, but it seems to be decided that occasionally, or to repair wounds, Chorus instead ingest metal.
So I dunno. Might give it a bonus to endurance or something, but it wouldn't heal it. Nothing more than magically making a standard adventurer have the equivalent of a large meal.

And now I'm imagining some friendly Chorus gathering around a party campfire for the warmth. D'aww.
>>
>>25536858
these get more active in heat by feeding off of it.

and now Im seeing that they are basically invulnerable to magic except magic that involves hitting it with a rock.
>>
>>25536870
Depends on the level of heat we're talking about. I imagine that wizardly fireballs are pretty up there temperature wise.
At the very least, while not affecting them directly much, it would make other metal being heated non-magnetic and thus deprive the orb of weapons.
>>
>>25536870
That may need to be changed in favor of feeding on ores or the natural magnetism of the planet.
>>
>>25536915

I wonder how psychic-based powers and illusions would work against these guys. Rather outside my field of knowledge.

I like the idea that several Chorus can use a BFG style attack. Huge magnetic shunt, and yes; powerful enough magnetic fields can effect even non-metals.
Though I can't bring to mind the medical conditions simply being near such a field would bring... probably cancer. Often is.
>>
>>25536960
I would guess mind affecting powers wouldnt work very well, like illusions dont project a magnetic field. but you may be able to mind read and communicate telepathically.
>>
>>25536937
That would work. Let the heat reduce the magnetic properties of the metal they're ingesting so they'll have an easier time of working it into their body, then allow it to cool and return to full potency. I imagine trying to move small magnetic bits though a small magnetic maze would be a pain. Imagine if everything you ate became stuck to your intestines the instant it touched the walls.
>>
>>25536945
Yeah, that works. Immunity to fire would be a bit too much. These guys need a weak point. So.. standard magic attacks work I guess. If hard to hit. And counting as Tiny I guess.

I'd hate to face a devious DM who made an area where Chorus can fly freely through tunnels where the party can't follow. I'm reminded of some Kobolds..

Maybe mental assaults would work, but illusions would barely fool them.
They still 'think', and indeed a lone Chorus would possibly be weaker than other species due to their habit of sharing information in their close groups. It's more receptive to influence. I'm just guessing there though.

On the other hand.. a suitably prepared illusionist could in theory maybe whip up the illusion of magnetic fields. Which wouldn't appear for anyone but a Chorus or similar. But that would be a DM ruling, surely.

I wouldnt allow more than a town or two of them in any setting myself. roving family groups would be ok too, working every day at the smithy must be like being a baker to them.
>>
>>25537211

Oh wow. I can just imagine some knights fighting a losing battle against demonic hordes. The rallying cry goes up! The Paladins of Bahamut have heard our call and come to our aid! In the distance one can clearly see row upon row of kite shields emblazoned with the platinum dragon...and that's it. With a great battlecry of BEEEOOOP WEEP WOOP the shields turn aside to reveal an army of ball bearings and floating swords.

They slam into the demonic forces, turning their own fiery weapons aside and the day is won.

the metallic bringer of life who granted metal and magnetism upon the universe. thus granting life.

for who can look at the world and not see the splendor brought to us, the world shows his holy shape. A Orb!

he gave unto us his metal flesh so we may feed.

he gave unto us his mighty will and gave us magnetism.

he gave unto us his holy will and granted us life.

Plus, those orbs grant the power to create..
It works on more than one level, Bahamut does.

your saying the spheres the dragons hold are the chorus gods granting their power to the dragons?

oh my god. they are everywhere.

Hello, I'm the science fellow >>25534470
from last night. The problem is you're actually thinking about that a bit wrong. The correct analogy is:

We mate by exchanging phosphoric acid based polymers, and that doesn't mean that we can genetically engineer a spider-duck.

This is true, because we don't have a way to manipulate that data exchange. If the Chorus have adapted their sexual information transmission to other communication then they _must_ be able to manipulate that data exchange. Essentially, this is the same as our slowly growing ability to practice genetic engineering. Now that we can manipulate these sexual information exchanges we are on our way to producing spider-ducks.

Their ability to manipulate the near field, combined with the ability to inflate a field sufficiently to manipulate things magnetically directly obtains that they are in a position to generate light by bremsstrahlung. It will, however, probably take a massive cultural revolution for them to even accept the possibility of doing so. We are talking about using an incredibly private, intimate communication method that derives from sex to create pulses of radiative-regime EM fields that propagate outwards without limit. To put that in perspective, that's like normalizing the behaviour of ejaculating from buildings so other people can open their mouths down below and find out if you've been eating asparagus.
(so, so sorry for that analogy)
>>
>>25546774
Best analogy ever.

>>
The problem with designing a race is that only one culture is ever created. Humans have many different cultures and its the clash and competition that shaped a lot of our history. Notice how in the ascendancy stuff its always aliens vs wildlife as the primary threat?
>>
A Chorus settlement is always a bizarre sight even in a land of wonders. Purely metallic structures cut into the natural irregularities of the landscape with precise order. Where before in their homeland they were gleaming steel, so fine as to almost fool the observer into thinking they had stumbled into a city of polished silver; now their structures are not so grand. Speckled iron and common metals make up a mottled appearance on the smooth curves and spheres of their homes.
Settlements are nearly always centered around a permanent heat source. Either a volcanic vent, an ignited plume of natural gas, or even a slumbering fire elemental.
The buildings themselves are clearly designed with flying in mind. A single smooth arc of steel resembling a windbreaker tent thing. You know the ones. The wall covering three directions and ceiling, but open on the fourth. Shelves are placed from the floor to the ceiling on the sole 'wall' of the building where either tools are kept or the inhabitant's personal belongings. Personal security being pointless in a society where everyone is in near constant communication with each other, they're left in a designated "my shelf", but otherwise in the open. In the middle of these arc-dwellings and around the heat source are smooth bowls that accommodate a Chorus to rest or 'sleep'.
From an outsider's perspective, telling the difference between a family unit's dwelling and the 'town hall' is a difficult perception DC, however those settlements with regular trade will set up signposts in the area's common language to direct people to the trading arc.

Am I the only one getting a Mirrodin vibe from these lil' guys?

>>25542437
"Er.. sure. Just give us iron and we'll spin for you."
>"ALL HAIL THE SPHERES!"

First Contact. Warforged "AI" is probably the closest thing to Chorus-style thought in the usual D&D-style racials. I imagine Chrous would find such arcane manipulations of metal fascinating or even potentially heretical, depending on whether such concepts existed.

After all, to a Chorus, a warforged is life, but not as we know it.

Acid or force effects would work fine, too.

I'd hate for these things to exist in 40K.
Tiny xenos with magnetic powers that only need heat and iron in a world with that many people in foot-thick armor?
They can exist in space even by the looks of things, you'd never be sure you got them all.
>>
>>25550306
And all they have to do to play dead is stop moving.
The opponent starts combing the battlefield for all the metal they can to cart it off to a smelter, both for the materials and to deny the enemy their dead.
And one chorus who was just pretending gets tossed into a truck loaded with sharp metal bits.
Two minutes later, there is no truck.
>>
>>25550335
I figure that's work exactly once. They'd learn pretty quickly to bash in every last chorus dome as they pick over the spoils.
>>
>>25550335
I think after a while every faction would impose a "make sure any Chorus found are destroyed BEFORE salvaging", before long. Mostly by stamping on them or running them over.
If only because too many techtrousers are eaten by the spherical bastards.

Unless they get along with one faction or another. They're pretty much Machine Spirits on one hand, blare out techno while fighting on the other, and exist in a tiered commune on a third hand. It's kinda open to debate.
>>
>>25550335
Plus ranging from ball bearing sized infants to bowling ball sized adults you could always miss the baby who goes on to start a army.

>>
>>25550468

>>

Hod or HOD may refer to:
>Brick hod, a long-handled box for carrying bricks or mortar
>Hod, term for a Coal scuttle, bucket-like container for carrying coal
>Hod Hill, an archaeological site in Dorset, England
>Hollinwood railway station, England; National Rail station code HOD
>Hod (Kabbalah), part of the Tree of Life
>Hod (organization), Israel-based organization for Jewish homosexuals
>Hod HaSharon, city in the Center District of Israel
>Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance, 2002 Game Boy Advance game
>Höðr, a god in Norse mythology, often spelled Hod
>Heart of Darkness, novel
>Heart of Darkness (video game)
>Halo Occupation Distribution in cosmology and astrophysics
>Hereditarily ordinal definable sets, an inner model of ZFC in set theory
>Heritage Open Days, annual UK event
>Hospital Outpatient Departments
>Host On-Demand, a software engineering concept
>Hypertrophic osteodystrophy, a bone disease in young dogs
>Head of Department; see Department Head
>Hydrogen on Demand, the production of Browns Gas by Electrolysis of water

I'd go with Hod the fairly pacifist norse god. Although he was a bit of a pansy.

They are pretty fragile from what the thread says. Wonder how long it takes them to heal or repair injury.
>>
Why don't the chorus just 'wear' robes when being diplomatic?
That way they shroud themselves and seem human.
>>
>>25550792
In the same way that a flying coathanger doesn't look like a person.
The robes would be empty and swaying all over the place, it wouldn't fool anybody.

That raises a different question however: Ordimentation. What would the chorus think of, say, cosmetic engraving?
>>
>>25550835
I think engraving would be like branding for humans. Yes it WORKS, but fucking ow.
Maybe they would magnetize specially shaped and engraved plates to themselves that hug their sphere form tightly? More like clothes there, however.
>>
>>25550835
Metal rings in the fabric along specific folds in the robe. Alternatively, chainmail with fabric over it.
These ways they can mock a human shape with the robes.
