I am sorry to say that RMQ has been called off for today, probably for a few days. I am sorry, I know I said I would be back today, but I need a break. I have been running this quest almost nonstop since day one, and I have run myself ragged doing so.

In order to maintain the level of quality I try to hold myself to, and to honestly get a few other things done right now, I am taking a little break from leading this quest.

My thanks to all the loyal players who have stuck with me on this journey, it certainly hasn't been easy, and I promise to have new and better thought out ideas for the storyline to come, I just need a little while to relax and take a few notes on how I want to proceed.

Thank you all, I will alert you when I am ready to continue.

Plus, I am currently doing another major project on /tg/ right now.

Cookies to whoever guesses the right one.

Alright. Will wait for the next thread with anticipation.

More situations in the future where the players have to choose between the reasonable marine ideals and winning, please. So far doing things reasonable way has always been the 'correct' choice, which feels cheap.
>>
>>25624199
This.

Reasonable Marines by their very nature should be facing a sheer cliff when trying to find allies in the Imperium.

We're finding worlds with open minds like candy and there isn't really a conflict beyond 'roll to kill enemy x'

It's not the horse quest is it??

I have lurked in your thread for some time it has been a pleasure!

No, it's something much more recent.

I like how when I said this however many days/weeks ago, I was called a dirty troll and Storm kept swearing up and down that ITS ONLY THE TUTORIAL
>>
>>25625127
I didn't mind the tutorial being easy on us, but now I'd prefer having to make tough choices - having to choose between saving civilians and achieving objectives etc.
>>
>>25625127

I was called a troll as well. That doesn't change the fact that we've basically been doing nothing but rolling to kill badguys and having everyone love us just happens automatically.

Its boring to stroll through this stuff, the only real conflict was the hybrid hidden in our ranks, and that isn't saying much.
>>
>>25625441
And lets not forget that the 'correct' answer to that dilemma was to be idiotically trusting of the fucking goddamn rape nom nom alien guy who has been doing nothing but lying to us since we knew him. Its like playing a Bioware game where there is literally no conflict between doing the right thing and doing what should be considered the smart thing, but since you get rewarded better for doing the moral thing theres no point to the conflict in the first place.
>>
>>25625557

Oh, you mean the friendly Tyranid guy? I actually quite like him. He's nice and competent. You're just upset that you got outvoted. Feel free to tell the others "I told you so" when he turns on us to feast on our entrails.

Ohyeah

for what its worth i cleaned up the armory loadout and selection process, for next time.
May need some cleanup and insertion of missing information, but its there.

Most excellent.

And to those calling for more morally grey choices, it was always my intention for this world to be the sledgehammer in terms of moral choices, morality over expediency, or even success in some cases.

Though I had thought that choosing to leave the Stalinist work camp open for business in the name of military efficiency was a fairly grey decision, so we saw the start of it there.
>>
>>25625557

Honestly, my biggest problem with that incident was we allowed the officer that knowingly hid such a potentially destructive secret from us to just get a verbal 'don't do it again'. He could have doomed the entire expedition with his actions.

At the very least, he should have been removed from the task force for being a liability in a force that could well cause the doom of the home sector.

Storm's reasoning as to why the pitiful warning is going to work because the one guy is effectively a hostage was probably the worst part, though.
>>
>>25626917

I agree, that situation was some bad writing on my part, I should have had a better motivation for Kolchack. My warning was me attempting to communicate that while his actions were reprehensible, he was not going to backstab you, so there was no need to deprive yourself of a useful asset this time.

As for how he was dealt with, that was a player choice, I did not make it.

It would be just nice to sometimes lose by doing the right thing, is all. Every world shouldn't end in a complete victory.
>>
>>25627025

That is my plan moving forward.

I didn't see Volkgarod as a complete victory myself, the world will have decades to recover and succession by murder is a bad trend to follow.

Cautiously optimistic would be the word I would use. Now the hive world is probably going to be a whole different story.

>Cautiously optimistic would be the word I would use. Now the hive world is probably going to be a whole different story.

And this is where the reasonable marines run the risk of falling off their moral high horse.

Do you have any thoughts on different kinds of -armors-, with slightly different slot configurations? Mostly the same, but with some easily-configurable differences.

IE, a seraphim variant that other marines/sisters occasionally use with two pistol slots in exchange for less, say, grenades?
Or a heavy weapons armor that gets +1 ammo choice on guns it carriers?

Also, seeker rockets - is that an ammo the POD can take, or just the underbarrel launcher? Seems backwards.
>>
>>25627379

POD is a smart munitions launcher that fires airburst grenades, or it could fire little tiny rockets I guess.

And I have planned to include an ammo pack as an armor mod option.

Also, the armory report needs descriptions of ammo types. Nice work on it.

>POD is a smart munitions launcher that fires airburst grenades, or it could fire little tiny rockets I guess.

Its more that you had seeker rockets already listed for the tinier gun. I wasn't sure if they were, essentially, homing grenades or homing bolts(which are already rockets) something larger. Thats why i was wondering

I wasn't able to find ammo descriptions, other than a one-line blurb, sadly. Wasn't going to trawl through ALL the threads.

If anything, the weapon descriptions need their length cut down to a short description of what they do.

But yeah, i was intending for you to be able to cut-and-paste a quick setup together from options listed.
>>
>>25627529

The pod is basically a Knight built xm-25, look it up.

Grenade launcher missiles are more like tiny javelin missiles, they get punted out and then ignite their engine, basically really big guided bolts with krak warheads.

>Feel free to tell the others "I told you so" when he turns on us to feast on our entrails.
Which he never will, which is my whole point. Its nothing to do with being outvoted and everything to do with how Storm Raven explicitly told us that it was the right thing to do, meaning there is never any moral dilemma whatsoever since sticking to our principles actually nets us nothing but huge fucking returns. Its like reading a story about the Lamenters where you replace all their self-sacrifice and Pyrrhic victories with booze, women, and the phattest lewt, all for doing the moral thing.

And that simply isn't how 40K works.
>>
>>25628660

There's a point. I'm not that familiar with 40K, but maintaining a good narrative about being moral in an immoral universe should entail getting your teeth rattled now and again and enduring it. There's no nobility in doing the right thing all the time if it only nets positive returns. Nobility is doing the right thing when the wrong thing seems so easy and so lucrative.

>I'm not that familiar with 40K, but maintaining a good narrative about being moral in an immoral universe should entail getting your teeth rattled now and again and enduring it.
Read the Lamenters. Thats literally their whole shtick. They chose the wrong side of I believe the Badab War, so in response they arent allowed to recruit new recruits for a 1000 years as they go on a penitent crusade. Unlike other chapters, they try to save as many civilians as possible instead of going for the strategic victory and they usually only barely win by the skin of their teeth or even utterly lose, but they always lose scores of their own forces in the process. Its the cost of honor in a grimdark universe. Meanwhile, the Knights Inductor get everything handed to them on a silver platter and never once have to pay the costs of having the most heretical army and chapter of all time.

Basically, the Lamenters are the people the Reasonable Marines attempt to be, except the Lamenters have the balls to play by 40K rules instead of hiding behind plot armor and Sue powers.
