Your mornings are usually a quiet and stern affair; wake up, change, brush your teeth then onward to the cafeteria for your breakfast assuming there isn’t anything urgent forcing your good commander to skip your first meal. Today, you woke up in your quarter when your apprentice started having a nightmare, punching and kicking you out of bed faster than that time you jumped out of your mattress when you woke up with a spider on your hand.

Of course, your dear apprentice woke up soon after and only pride kept her from bursting into tears and whatever frustrations you had to being so rudely awakened soon flew away after seeing her face; the girl was truly doing her best to improve herself, in a way, she reminded you of your youngest sister… Although you soon dismissed such thoughts for they can be very dangerous indeed.

Regardless Ekaterina remained tight-lipped over her nightmare and remained sluggish right up until after breakfast, the poor girl seemed to function below average, rubbing her eyes and yawning two hours after waking up while eating with the appetite of a depressed divorcee despite the very good food.

To say that your apprentice has problem with mornings is quite the understatement.

Regardless, today mark the true, real start of training, a fact that hasn’t escaped anyone for many of your dear squad mates joked with the trainee while you pondered over what to do for today. Given that you are in the middle of the ocean, moderating your running enthusiasm is going to be key; it’d be very dramatic to see this esper fall overboard after the very close call yesterday, but for now…. You have to come up with a sort of curriculum for the sake of Ekaterina.

For a moment the brouhaha of the cafeteria disappear as you frown and ponder the offer, the French girl is displaying a rare moment of weakness that is perfectly understandable given how the last operation in Europe went FUBAR and you could definitely shape up before stepping into the grinder, however…

You little apprentice is garbed in an official Fortified Suit, the dull, metallic gray color of TSM is very boorish but at least the badges of Earth with a crumbled all look fancy enough for decoration but, you have to admit that the entire thing look pretty good on the girl; while perfectly cladding her small body and forms it look like a second skin instead of the usual squirming most of the cadets tend to do when that thing latch on, coupled with her magnificent white hair your little apprentice certainly look very, very nice in this suit, probably better than you do.

But her face is red and her hands are balled in fist, your Russian friend and apprentice is literally trembling in rage as you find yourself speechless by both her physique, and emotions.

You want her to take as much as she want from you, this imprinting… thing she has sounds like voodoo and pagan magic to your ear but there is truth in it nonetheless, for she spoke to you about things you’ve never told anyone on this ship.
You could definitely be harsh; too, would it be for the best? The BETA knows no emotions, but to actually break her and mold her into what you think is strength… that’s now how you should go about it, you’ve given her exercise that you would do in order to improve, not something that will actually increase your apprentice capabilities reliably, instead you’ve pushed the string of her patience very, very thing and indeed, it seems right about to snap.

You’ve heard some tales of harsh instructors and you definitely need to show restraint in your empathy to this girl, but you mustn’t blind yourself with your experience of the harsh truth and project your wish unto her, either.
